Designer Robert Brindle conceived of the idea behind Old Chicago after a visit to Knott's Berry Farm amusement park in Buena Park, California, and wished to put an entire park - complete with roller coaster, Ferris wheel, and log flumes - indoors so that it could be open year round. Brindle's concept featured an early 20th-century decor inside, with the mall featuring smaller local shops and boutiques rather than the traditional department stores that anchored most malls.

The shopping mall was designed to resemble a turn-of-the-century street, complete with cobblestone floors and old-fashioned streetlights. It surrounded the ride area completely, following the entire perimeter of the building. At strategic points there were windows where you could stop and look out into the ride area. The mall had specialty shops, snack bars and a handful of restaurants.

Over two years in the making, Old Chicago was opened to the public on June 17, 1975, in a grand opening party that attracted over 10,000 invited guests, causing massive traffic jams. The Old Chicago TV commercial featured an 18-year-old Sandy Zakis tap-dancing on top of the dome during high winds, while a cameraman filmed from inside a helicopter.

Do you think that an Apehlion is potentially whatever that fucked up monster in Old Chicago was?
Very hard to say. I'd go for it not being Aphelion because no one from the fireteam dealing with it has mentioned anything about radiation or the colour blue, which seems to be a repeating pattern with the Aphelion. However the descriptions are very short as it's only mentioned in the flavour text.
Hunter piece (Aisha)
Titan piece (Reed-7)
Warlock piece (Shayura)
The Aphelion is also described by Calus as the best predator in the system that is capable of destroying entire worlds, so if there was one on Earth, we would probably know. Calus also describes that access to the Aphelion came after the reclamation of one of the Cabal Athenaeum worlds (world X, or 10). Athenaeum worlds are places where the Cabal held vast knowledge. Drifter mentions them as well, as one possible lines before a Gambit match where you get Cabal enemies.
The general theory I've seen around is that Athenaeum world X is Drifter's ice planet where the Cabal have somehow trapped the creatures (Aphelion?) or the creatures have invaded the plant, and the Cabal are unable to fully access it anymore because of how dangerous they are. If they're that problematic to handle, it wouldn't make sense that one made it to Earth and that we're all still alive.
The Aphelion seems to prefer space and tends to terrorise the Awoken primarily. It's highly associated with radiation and specifically the colour blue, which may be referring to a real phenomenon called Cherenkov radiation.
That said, it's true that we still have no clue what's lurking in Old Chicago. Very strange. Hopefully we'll find out in the future, or it may just remain a little mystery.

Old Chicago- to old?
———————————————————-
So, tonight we went to Old Chicago, and service was SPECTACULAR, they were understaffed and they’re general manager had just died, which ofc is not the server or anyone else’s fault. but while being understaffed the service was genuinely really good. The food unfortunately did not live up to the expectations of the service. the appetizers we got was the appetizer trio and some fried pickles, both were very good. the fried pickles had a very nice small kick to them that surprised us and the trio was very nicely paired.
now the entrées were split, i (Luis) got a custom Calzone and i LOVED IT the way i paired some peperoni sausage and bacon and ham with pineapple was spectacular. and it was very large
now JC got a individual plain cheese pizza and it was sub par to say the least. very VERY greasy and not enough cheese. the dough was also very thin.
now for dessert we got the cookie pizza, which again was sub par, tasted like a sugar cookie with barely any chocolate chips in it which was mildly upsetting as we both love sweets.
All in all 6/10
