This is part 3 of the Comprehensive Analysis of c!Tommy and c!Dream’s relationship during the Exile Arc

Part 1 -  Part 2

Here we go again! When I started this I did NOT think it would be this long or take this much time, that said the Exile Arc is very nice to rewatch. There are a lot of little moments I didn’t notice on first watch. 

Anyway, as always from here on out it’ll all be about the characters and we will be discussing some heavy topics so do keep that in mind!

We are now onte the 4th proper Exile stream: Tommy Is Holding It Together in Exile with Dream

This one peculiarly enough does not start with Tommy drowning. Also I want to mention that this is the second time during exile where Tommy mentions that he thinks he is allucinating. The first time it was in regard to seeing a group of mobs, this time it was in regard to Tubbo being on-line. Also at the beginning of the stream he finds a present left from HBomb consisting of 1 fire resistance potion 1 strenght II potion, Wait and a photo of the Queen, Tubbo and Vikkstar.

“We need to do something and quick today. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but every single day at the start of my stream Dream logs on uh... and I’m starting... *sigh* he said that Technoblade was over there” (moment when he decides to go scout out Techno’s cabin)

“Okay, what if- just- just to investigate it because I know- I know that big man Dream wouldn’t be too happy if he knew so...” (the manipulation is turning out to be quite effective)

By the way, the reason Tommy states for wanting to see Techno at this point is literally just too feel again like there was someone near (he did say “to smell” someone near, which does tie in with him saying he could “almost smell” Dream when he was searching Techno’s cabin when only Ghostbur and Tommy were there, which I’m sure we could analize further, but I won’t), not to team with him. Once again, :t no point was it Tommy’s intention for them to team up. 

“I’m very lonely out here heh, I’m very lonely back home” (casual use of “home” to referr to Logstedshire)

“I wanna go back, I wanna go back. I don’t like this no I don’t like this now we’ve been away for too long” (panicked speach patterns get worse the longer he is away)

“Friend??? No, horse” (Lmao)

“Dream wouldn’t want me going in here...” “Dream wouldn’t like it if I was here! Dream wouldn’t like it if I stole! He’d loose his shit, he’d loose his shit. Surely not...” *Dream joins the game* “oh Oh OH NO! I’m in deep fried shit!”

I want to point out that I personally think a bit of time has passed since last stream, mainly because of this progression. At this point it’s not only fear of physical pain prompting him to act a certain way, it’s also Dream’s conditioning: suddenly what Dream wants it’s extremely important and the same goes with what he would and wouldn’t approve of. And, if I remember correctly, this particular scene was quite the eye opener for a lot of the audience at the time. 

“Okay we run back we run back we run back we run back *screams* okay which way’s back? which way’s back? which way’s back? He [Dream] can’t know he can’t know” (panicked speach patterns once again, getting worse)

“I knew I shouldn’t have gone there, that was stupid that was stupid that was stupid” (self-loathing)

“Now how do I get home?” “No no, chat, we should just get home!” “We should probably get home quick” “Is anyone at home? Maybe Wilbur came home” (Logsteshire has now the title of “home”, but it’s definitely not safe)

“No!” *creeper blows up* “*sigh* I deserve that” (self-loathing)

“You know let’s clean up our land. What we need to do before... before He arrives. Maybe we should make a little safe spot, nah, there isn’t enough time today. You know I reckon after last night He is gonna be okay with us, He is gonna be much more...” (hard time speaking or thinking about Dream)

Tommy proceeds to seat down with the compass listening to Far and looking towards L’Manburg for a while. Then Tubbo (hallucination, which is quite worrying) comes out of the portal with the compass in hand and they stare at each other for a bit, after that he keeps seeing Tubbo (always hallucination) throughout the stream. 

“I actually just woke up Tommy and I came straight here, to visit you” “Why would you go stra- straight here?” “Because I wanted to see you~” “Why?” “Uh, because we’re friends” “Oh yeah... hi Dream!” “Hello”

Dream arrives and blows up Tommy’s armour and weapons (I actually did not remember about Dream taking the weapons every time as well, but it does make sense in Dream’s f*cked up way considering that his intent was leaving Tommy entirely defenceless so that he would be more dependent on him). This time though, Dream makes Tommy light up the tnt, with minimal resistance from Tommy at this point (he just says: “I don’t really want to”, but he can’t bring himself to resist more then that). 

I do find quite interesting that every time they seem to have the blowing up and insecurities part of the conversation at first and then basically re-start all over. It happened last stream as well. Also, Dream keeps accentuating 2 points to Tommy: how everything back in L’Manburg is better without him there and how, while it is basically effortless to come visit Tommy, he is the only one making the effort (even going as far as going to visit first thing in the morning). 

“I’ve had a little idea by the way, I want to know what you think” “Okay” “And also if I’m allowed” “Okay” “*sigh* Basically, I’ve been thinking, you know how we made our Big Path to get home?” “Yes, it’s been a little while” “Yeah yeah, I’m thinking: I throw a party!”

So, couple of things to talk about here: Tommy feels the need to constantly ask Dream for permission (because Dream just puts so many rules to this supposed “exile”), another indication of some time having passed since the last stream for them, considering that the last stream was literally the day before irl (I’m talking about the “it’s been a little while” part) and also this is when we are introduced to the idea of the party.

“I’m allowed? I’m allowed?” “Yeah, can I come?” “Of co- uh- yeah” “Okay, they’re allowed to come” (talking about the party)

“Well Dream, is it me or is it you that’s been left by themselves for about 13 days now?” (irl it’s been 4-5 days, though at least now we have a bit of a timeframe for them as well)

Ghostbur arrives with Phil (who gifts Tommy the Tommy Slippers, which are a pair of diamond boots, a stack of black wool, 8 iron blocks and a Friendship Emerald) 

“Guys are you- are you real?” “Am I real?” “Because I keep fucking seeing... I keep seeing Tubbo” (Tommy finally mentioning the hallucination to others, also Ghostbur pretends to see him, though it was confirmed later on that he wasn’t there)

“Dream’s here by the way, Dream’s always here” (now that’s kinda ominous)

“Dream, Dream I swear to Christ I think I just kept seeing Tubbo” “I didn’t see him, I never saw him once. Phil didn’t see him either, it was only you and Wilbur. Pretty sure he wasn’t here~” “My eyes are not the most reliable, I see lots of things” 

I’d say from here on out is when Tommy starts trusting Dream over his and Ghostbur’s perceptions of reality. After all, as I said at the start, this is not the first, nor the last time where he questions his own perception of reality and, as we talked about in the last analysis, it’s not the first time that Dream tries to assert himself as his main source of information (callback to him negating having ever destroyed any of Tommy’s belongings). Also Fundy came to visit giving Tommy an efficiency II fortune I diamond axe (may I point out now how Fundy is literally the one person, aside from Dream and Ghostbur, visiting the most and how he is the only one aside from Ghostbur always saying “hi” whenever Tommy logs on? Their friendship is so underrated). 

“I’m going- I’m going crackers...” “Hi Tommy! I think- I think I saw Tubbo as well” “Dream was Tubbo here?” “I did not ever see Tubbo, but I don’t know, I haven’t seen him” (confirmation of what I said before)

“Dream, now that you showed up everyone started to visit me again!” “Well I think it’s just because the- well, to be fair, are they here with you right now? They’re just running around, like, I don’t think they are here visiting you, they’re just visiting Logstedshire” “Oh” (Dream enhancing Tommy’s feeling of loneliness)

“He [Tubbo] told me he missed you” “Really?” “Well-” “Yeah! I gave him a compass that pointed towards you at all times and he siad ‘I really miss him'“ “Really?” “Yeah” (...) “I thought I saw the compass in a chest, like he threw it in a chest in the Community House, but I’m not- maybe it was a different compass, I’m not sure”

Ghostbur was actually a great support during Tommy’s exile. From pointing out the holes in Dream’s rules, to trying and reassure and support Tommy when he is feeling down, often going directly against Dream’s narrative, even going as far as creating a physical connection between Tommy and Tubbo through the compasses. It’s no surprise then that Dream tried to get rid of him right after this stream. Tommy builds his first girlfrend, “hot girl”.

“Hey Tommy, don’t you worry, I’ll be at the beach party!” (Ghostbur said, like a liar...)

“Wilbur did you burn my hit novel?” “No!” “I heard you did” “No!” “Did you know that that was the only book in history that sold better then the Bible?” “No! No! No! Didn’t do it!” (Ghostbur said again, like a liar...)

“Wilbur we need a chest room” “No I don’t really need one, I just go to L’manburg” “Low blow ghost” (Ghost [derogatory])

“I’m sleep deprived” (we’re back into character after the 20 minutes of them bullying Brand)

“I have a gift for you Tommy” *gives Tommy iron helmet, chestplate and pants* “Armour? For me?” “Yeah” “Oh thank you, thank you!” “You’re welcome”

Remember this part because Dream will use this as a point against Tommy when destroying Logstedshire, just like Techno does later on. In case anyone was wondering: if you give something freely to someone as a gift you have literally no right to then hold it over their head at a later date. That’s just manipulative as shit. 

This neds with Phil, Dream and Tommy making a cake for the beach party and deciding on the last few details, and:

“We’re getting better everyone. We’re getting- are we- we’re getting better. I guess- I guess we’re bonding... *sigh* I guess...”

I’ll leave this off by reminding everyone that Dream and Tommy called Dream blowing up Tommy’s armour and weapons “bonding”.

QUEEN OF THE SOUTH FINALE 5x10 POST-EP REACTION

holy fucking shit!! it’s over!!!! wow wow.

get ready for some ramble-y ass, v unorganized, first reactions to the finale, because i am wine drunk and emotional and still trying to get my heart down to a resting pulse and i have so many thoughts

- okay that was a damn gripping episode, i was on the edge of my damn seat the whole time. i went in with like 99% faith that teresa and james were gonna come out alive but they still had me STRESSED the whole damn time!!!! like even tho i was seeing the little signs throughout the episode that it was all a plan my heart was pounding like crazy!!

- i went into today thinking as long as teresa and james were alive in the end i would be happy but then rewatched a bunch of old episodes right before the finale and remembered that i did indeed care about pote and kellyanne and really actually would be upset if they had died, so i was quite stressed, especially for pote at the end!! when he’s fighting boaz!! which also! was super badass btw. all the sicarios backing off at the end!! lol at the random dude who save pote’s life by making boaz take the “sicario’s challenge” tho (which like? lol what?) like okay haha

- everyone loves chicho so much haha him and pote are so cute!!! i love how much chicho gave his all for pote and KA this episode, i’m sad he couldn’t come w them but it was SO CUTE to see chicho with marcel at the end!!! building a bunch of legit businesses and growing the PCCC!!! i love that journey for them.

- i really didn’t think pote was in on it because honestly i didn’t think he would be able to be that good of an actor (the character, not the actual actor, hemky is amazing lol) but i mean pote really pulled thru. he let all his damn emotions out for that performance cuz i was fully convinced he didn’t know until the end when it shows them telling him. actually i got an inkling when he was saying goodbye to marcel and chicho and gave marcel the ~gift~ from teresa lol.

- i do wish we had gotten more flashbacks because like when exactly did james figure out that devon was gonna order him to kill teresa? when did he tell her? did they figure it out together? teresa said she had a boat on standby for TWO YEARS does this mean the plan had been in place that long??? like before james left phoenix??????? or was the boat just always there and the plan came later??? idk tho. i watched 3.05 today and the “if they come for me, i’ll be ready” “if they come for you, I’LL be ready” REALLY HITS A LIL DIFFERENT NOW TBH what if james already had an inkling and when devon showed up that night it confirmed his suspicions.. and they started planning like. that night after they fucked. dude. idk the wheels are turning too fast in my brain rn. ik they probably just planned it this season after james was “let go” by devon and they knew it was too easy, and maybe just in the past couple weeks’ episodes. but who the fuck knows!!!

- i still wanna know how exactly they faked her death. no confirmation on the powder/ coke theory.. and no discussion of the coke habit if it was one. but if this was the long game situation and they’ve been planning all along.. maybe that theory still holds water.. idk y’all that’s the explanation i’m going w because i can’t think of anything else lol

- okay THE ENDING OMG!!!!! was it a bit cheesy and predictable and entirely too short? yes. did i LOVE IT ANYWAYS OMG LOOK AT THEM THEY’RE ALIVE AND HAPPY!!!!???? YESS BITCH okay by the end i was just so damn relieved that they were alive i honestly didn’t care that the teresa’s-alive-reveal happened like 4mins30secs before the end lmao because they were a beautiful almost five mins. i may get saltier about it but LOOK how happy she is!!! look how happy james is!!! and pote and kellyanne have a sweet lil child that teresa and james can be auntie and uncle to and it’s SO CUTE I NEED ALL THE FANART SINCE TERESA AND JAMES DIDN’T ACTUALLY GET A SCENE W THEIR HONORARY NIECE😭😭😭 FEN?? SOMEONE?? i’ll do it myself if no one else does, maybe even if someone else does because that’s so cute (eventually lol)

- do u think james and kellyanne coordinated their respective swim shorts (surf shorts?? lmfao) and nail polish on purpose because they are THE EXACT SAME SHADE OF HOT PINK and i think that’s so cute for them lmfao

- james in that button up w the wavy hair 😍 teresa in her cute lil beach top and her wavy hair 😍😍 them being happy and in love and alive in a cute lil beach house with their family 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰 i’m so happy for them!!! they made it out!! they outsmarted everyone!! teresa outsmarted everyone!! without shutting out the people in her life!! we love to see it!

- even though we didn’t exactly get a callback to a jeresa moment, we did get a “you okay?” “yeah” which kinda counts and i’ll fucking take it because you know what?? SHE IS ACTUALLY OKAY FOR ONCE. THEY ARE ACTUALLY BOTH OKAY. MORE THAN OKAY. NOW I’M NOT OKAY WHAT THE FUCK.

-also i LOVED the appearance and disappearance of The Queen there at the end!! her little approving nod and willing departure!! and that james was the one to notice her floating off and bring her back to earth from her final vision or hallucination of her queenpin self!! and then he makes a toast to their new life!! the one that she risked it all to build with him!! ahhhh i’m emo y’all!

- i am also still a little confused about some things tho, namely, why exactly did devon suddenly order boaz to back down and send pote to solitary confinement for protection?? was it really just because he believed he was being the “good guy” and that pote was doing his “deserved” time (even tho it wasn’t even for cartel stuff but ok) and he didn’t like the way boaz did business? cuz i feel like he wouldn’t care that much about pote’s safety even if that were the case i mean.. he wanted them all dead like two seconds before that.. i really don’t get that so if anyone has insight please lemme know!!!

- oh my god i don’t even know y’all that was so much!!! i’m sure i have more thoughts but i can’t even think of them rn!! i just wanna reblog all the gifs and see everyone’s thoughts!!! woo! we did it y’all! we made it. they made it!!!! thank fuck! 🥰😍❤️🎉😂

John B slipped off his red hoodie, handing it off to you as you stepped closer to the bonfire, trying to warm yourself a little more. The tube top was cute but not warm and so far it seemed to be doing absolutely nothing to aid you in catching John B’s attention. Aside from alerting him that you were cold.  

“Here, take my sweatshirt,” John B said, pushing the hoodie into your hands. You slipped your arms through the still warm sweatshirt, gripping the ends in your hands as you zipped in up. He knew it sounded bad, even in his head, but he’d held off giving you his sweatshirt just because you looked so beautiful and he didn’t want to obscure that. Though watching you tuck yourself into his hoodie was pretty appealing too. It wasn’t the first time that you’d borrowed his clothes, more often then not when you went out on the boat together you would grab whatever Hawaiian shirt he’d discarded to swim and wear it. There was something especially enticing about you laying out on the HMS with his shirt on and he felt the same way now as you smiled at him, wearing his hoodie. It was a little possessive, if he was being honest.  

“Thanks,” you finally said, looking at out at the other people around the yard, “trust me to think it’s warmer than it is.”  

“We could go inside?” He offered, everyone had stayed outside for the most part and sneaking off inside the Chateau with you sounded perfect right about now.  

“You don’t mind?” You asked, the thought of getting John B alone immediately appealing. You were on cloud nine as it was, not having to share his attention with a bunch of other people like you usually did. John B had gravitated toward you when you got there and he seemed determined to stay, which was fine with you.  

He shook his head, “no. Party’s kinda lame tonight anyway.”  

You lead the way toward the front door of the Chateau, not a long walk from the bonfire that JJ had made earlier but one that removed the two of you from the cloak of the tree you’d been standing nearby. Out in the open, more people could see you, particularly your ex-boyfriend, who had shown up at John B’s house party for no other reason than knowing you would be there. You were wherever John B was, an argument that had defined a decent chunk of your relationship with your ex and was the main reason that the two of you broke it off.  

“Hey!”  

John B turned first, his hand immediately coming up to your back, pressing against his hoodie as you looked back toward the sound of someone calling your name. You were standing on the first step into John B’s porch, a few inches taller than him because he was still on the ground, and you recognized your ex walking toward the two of you.  

“Matt, hey.” To say there was bad blood between the two of you was an understatement. He had stayed away for the most part but every time you’d seen him out since the two of you broke up he had been an asshole. Kiara had yelled at him just last week when he called you a bitch in the parking lot of the Wreck. “What are you doing here?”

“It’s a party, pretty sure anyone on the cut was invited.” Matt replied, glancing at John B for a moment before looking back at you.  

“Yeah well, it’s on my yard.” John B said, “and I definitely don’t want you here.”

“I’m sure you don’t.”  

“Is there something you wanted Matt?” You huffed, impatient. He had been fine in the beginning but now he was just an asshole whenever he got the chance.

“Just wanted to talk, should’ve known John B would be hanging around you like a lap dog.” Matt replied, glaring at your best friend. “You must be the most patient guy there is man, you just waiting for her while she puts out for everyone else huh?”

“What did you just say?” John B’s hand dropped from your back as he stepped closer to Matt. He was an inch or two taller than your ex-boyfriend and when he squared his shoulders and stood up straight, he seemed even taller and more intimidating.  

“JB,” you muttered, “let's just go inside.”

“Yeah JB,” Matt replied, “go ahead inside, maybe she’ll finally let you have a p-” he cut off mid-sentence when John B punched him directly in the face, right between his eyes.

You covered your mouth with your hands, eyes wide as Matt stumbled backward. John B looked like he was seconds from absolutely losing it. He was breathing heavy and staring at Matt, waiting for any sort of retaliation a little too eagerly. You grabbed John B’s arm just above the handkerchief on his wrist.  

“John B.” You repeated his name, catching his attention this time. Matt was just standing there, holding his bleeding nose, too shocked to do anything else. He had expected to piss John B off but not enough that he’d end up with a bloody nose. John B relaxed slightly, enough that he let you pull him inside the house, shutting the door behind you and dragging him to his bedroom. At least there you were guaranteed alone time.  

“That guy just...” John B groaned, raking his hands through his hair and pacing the small space on his bedroom. You stepped out of his way, unsure what to do. “God, I can’t fucking stand him!”  

“He’s just pissed about the breakup, he’ll get over it.” You reassured. The last thing you wanted was to spend anymore time on the subject of Matt. He was an asshole that didn’t deserve your attention and you didn’t want John B giving him any either.  

“He’s the one who fucking broke up with you!”  

John B had been there the night of the breakup, you’d come to the Chateau to tell him and somehow imagined some rom-com confession scene playing out but all he did was tell you he was sorry and that Matt was an ass. There was no long dreamt of kiss or declaration of love, just John B trying to be a good friend and not even realizing he was the reason you and Matt had broken it off in the first place.  

“Yeah well, I didn’t give him much of a choice,” you admitted.  

“What do you mean?” John B asked.  

You’d given a fairly basic explanation of the breakup last time. You didn’t divulge any details about what was said or why Matt thought the almost one year relationship the two of you were in needed to come to a screeching halt. And yeah, he was an aggressive asshole since the breakup and you knew he was still pissed that it had played out the way it did but you also knew you weren’t entirely innocent in the matter.  

“He broke up with me because he didn’t like how close we were.” You replied, taking a seat on John B’s bed. “He told me he thought I had feelings for you.”

“Why would he think that?”  

“Because he heard me tell Kiara that I did.” You’d been at a kegger on the beach when John B was flirting with some random touron and you told Kie, a little too tipsy to filter yourself, that you thought dating Matt would erase the feelings you had for John B but they didn’t.  

John B stopped pacing, standing there staring at you, wearing his sweatshirt, sitting on his bed, telling him that you had feelings for him. “You…what?”  

“I like you…I didn’t think you were interested and Matt asked me out so I said yes and it was okay but I always liked you and he knew it.” You replied.  

“Why didn’t you tell me?” John B asked, “I mean this whole time…this whole time I liked you and I didn’t think…I thought you were with Matt and happy and I didn’t wanna fuck that up for you.”  

“Guess we were both kinda stupid.” You admitted.  

“Yeah,” he nodded, head still processing the information, “yeah but not anymore.”

Man i wanted so much to hug him and i swear i would give him as much love as he gave y/n cause well i kin suna alot in this series cause im like that im a giver i treat others the way i would like to be treated (reason why ive been down lately ✌️) and i cant blame suna for finally setting boundaries- his call tho 'do i not stand a chance with you anymore y/n? Are you really not capable of falling in love with me?".... Oh suna... We are in love with you.. We always were we're just fucking stupid 😩

Now for the love letter part (im so sorry for this being so long ✌️)

You said that if we asked suna he woukd say that he genuinely loved mari okay... Ill go ahead and say yes he liked mari he even learned how to love her and he genuinely cared for her BUT and heres where my personal view comes in so maybe ill be biased here still for me that was just a he loves her as in he cares you also love your friends and care for them but he didnt love her- and by this I mean- he could never be fully committed for her. Yes he loved her and he felt happy with her but like track 7 proved everything he would do in the back of his mind was y/n he deeply wished Mari was her and for that he just loved Mari cause he learned how to care about her- but he never forgot who he trully was in love it. Also the happiness he experienced with Mari was pretty much the one I experienced the bliss of having someone there and that bliss also made suna turn a blind eye to all the red flags from Mari cause to him all the jealousy meant she cared and thats toxic but suna was so desperate for some sort of 'she cares' that even all the possessiveness was bliss for him... And that makes my heart clench for suna...

'suna had to put an effort for the relationship' and saddly i feel like mari didnt... Mari didnt care mari was there because she was a fangirl of suna and got lucky, the way she just discarded him so effortlessly that proved-screamed how much she loved him- she didnt. She was just possessive over him she liked the whole 'hes mine' dynamic and suna was the perfect boyfriend cause he was giving her the world... What he wanted someone to do for him.

Also yeah suna and y/n might have been spurred from them being fuck buddies but well love doesnt really have an agenda- they just clicked, understood each other and had chemistry yeah they had tons and tons of sex but feelings started not because of sex but thanks to their deep connection... Also that dsncing scene in track 7 that alone spoke for their whole relationship- that alone is enough to defend their feelings for each other- yes it might jave started just as fuck buddies but ended up in them loving each other deeply and that is enough love after all doesnt need a perfect start. It can start out of the most stupid ways.

You said life with excitement and fun wouldn't be permanent or real.. Honestly i think it could be.. Cause i mean when you love someone that deeply your life always feels exciting even with the littlest things and that the purest kind of love. Even just going for a walk at the beach would be fun for them or even staying up watching movies i believe suna and y/n would always find a way to make their lofe exciting without much effort.

Also it kinda makes me. Sad when i see some anon saying that y/n and suna relationship are toxic? It makes me. Confused maybe because I was in such extremely toxic one (girl i sweat if you search for toxic relationship my ex's face will be there as an example 🙄) that Mari to me screams toxic! Possessive, manipulative, jealous and a few more if I think closely about it while with y/n and suna they are just two idiots that are hurting each other cause they're just that: idiots one that is afraid to get hurt and the other that keeps hoping- dont get me wrong what they're doing is not healthy but i dont find it toxic honestly

AND YESSSSS the reason why suna overlooked the red flags was bcos to him, its something that was supposed to be “normal” like no perfect partner existed. he thought mari’s attitude of pushing YN away was normal, and its normal to want your partner’s best friend keep some distance but not to the point of mari’s place where she literally wants the two of them to cut each other out of their lives.

and aww I’m so happy that you realized how I wanted to portray suna and yn’s relationship. they’re….like the definition of youth in its freest form. they were fucking around and doing stupid things, but they had a connection. they had something deeper than just sexual intimacy. even if they never dated or even if YN never proposed the idea of it, they would’ve actually been still great friends. and oooh I actually don’t remember saying life with excitement and fun wouldn’t be real HAHAHAHA so I can’t comment further on that. but I think when I ‘said’ those I probably meant that it’s not always going to be all rainbows and unicorns in a relationship. there’s no such thing as a relationship that’s always happy and sweet 24/7, but ofc it can be sweet and it can be pure even with the little things <33 they just need to work on it.

hmmm tbhhhh… suna and yn are toxic in a way that they refuse to let each other go when they clearly can’t meet halfway. toxic doesn’t have to be limited in just being mari-like in which they are possessive or manipulative, because then if we’d drive deeper into yn’s personality, then she’d be stringing suna all along and that’s unfair of her. she knows suna wants more and yet she remained being friends with him, which totally isn’t a bad thing, but it’s because she keeps flirting with him and is so romantically comfortable with him that she doesn’t realize it’s hurting suna because he’ll give double meanings to that. their relationship is ‘toxic’ because they’re not entirely good for each other, they’re not that ready to be with one another yet and neither is the world letting them be in peace, so forcing their relationship to a point they’re hurting another is the toxic part.

Season 5 Lucifer

welcome to my unsolicited thoughts about Season 5 of Lucifer.  

as an avid and veteran series binger AND a talker-while-watching-a-movie-or-series-but-does-not-want-to-spoil-anything-for-my-friends type of person, i have finally dedicated a space and found a good way to let all my thoughts out as i watch a movie or series when i am alone when i can’t bother a lot of people because (1) they don’t want to be bothered and (2) i don’t want to spoil things for them.

so here are my thoughts, and of course, SPOILERS AHEAD.

BTW, i LOVED all of Lucifer! but this season was a slow burn for me.

so is Lucifer himself in his own hell loop when he became the ruler of hell? his own guilt towards his father? idk (to be frank, i don’t remember the past episodes except for the fact that he is now back in hell)

the premise of the first episode is cute!

so I saw Frozen 2 for the fourth time

i have so many questions.

there’s a relatively negative (and very long) review beneath the cut so pls read at your own risk. and, of course, spoilers.

I’ve seen Frozen 2 four times now and yikes. I’d kinda hoped it would get better with each viewing, but it’s somehow worse??? I really loved the first movie; it literally changed my life in an incredibly drastic way (don’t ask) but it had been very important to me over the past six years, and...I’m so disappointed.

My initial reaction was disappointment, and I should’ve stuck with it. Like, wtf was that? But some parts were also really well done? It left me so conflicted lol

PROS

Vuelie was a good way to open the film; I quite liked the nostalgia :’)

The intro scene in general was good; I liked seeing more of their parents, although idk what their father was thinking telling them such a tale before bed lmao seems like some shit my mother would do

All is Found is my favourite non-depressing song in the movie, and it opens it beautifully. ERW has a wonderful voice.

The animation really is beautiful; it looks so realistic. Specifically the clouds and the one scene of the waves crashing over the pine trees. It looked amazing!

The music is good but not great. FTFTIF is my favourite; it’s so catchy and cheery. I really liked TNRT, and SY is perfect, but these songs just weren’t as catchy as the ones in Frozen?? I’m thankful for AURORA tho, that was a lovely gift.

Bruni was absolutely adorable (even tho he was an obvious cash-grab for merch lol), 10/10 love Bruni. Bruni + Elsa = even better.

Anna looked absolutely breathtaking throughout the entire movie; the redesign they did animation-wise really works in her favour, and now she’s rocking those Emilia Clarke eyebrows which is a hell yes from me. Her final look gave me all the feels; I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the dress and hairstyle?? it seemed a bit too not Anna, but at the same time, it showed her growth and maturity and I’m very happy with that.

As dark as it was, the shipwreck scene was beautiful. It was handled beautifully; their reactions were devastating. There is a huge con here, but I’ll save that for later.

The ocean battle was really neat. The water looked so good, and Elsa looks good wet???

The whole scene in Ahtohallan was well done; I liked the memories. I wish Anna had been there; she deserved to see her history, too, and it wasn’t fair that Elsa got that spotlight once again.

Everything after Elsa freezing was absolutely breathtaking as well. Anna’s reactions, the song, the scenery-- it was tragically beautiful.

Kristoff had the two best lines in the ENTIRE movie: “I’m here. What do you need?” and “It’s okay. My love is not fragile.” It’s so rare to see a good, supportive relationship in tv/movies, be it heterosexual or homosexual, it doesn’t happen. It’s so rare. So this was a beautiful break from that; the faith he had in her was amazing. Thank u. the real mvp.

The scene with Anna as she accepts the fate of her future; as she takes in a breath and realises/accepts that her home is gone, and her blood family is gone. Everything about it was perfect. You could feel her emptiness. Poor baby needed a hug :(

I liked that Kristoff also hugged Elsa when she returned; it showed that they were friends, which is really important for Anna tbh

I think that’s it for pros??? Now for the cons.

CONS:

Gonna start this off simple: the plot was weak. This is unfortunately not an unpopular opinion; it made no sense. It was too convoluted to the point where nothing was explained.

The pacing was off, and it was ridiculously anti-climactic. The layout in general seemed a bit weird tbh I could definitely sit here and justify all of it, but I shouldn’t have to.

They gave us no reason to gaf about this voice that Elsa was hearing. How long had she been hearing it for? Why was she so drawn to it? Why didn’t she think she was just hearing things? Or maybe she did at one point and then realised she wasn’t crazy? 

There was almost no character development. Elsa was the same as she was in Frozen, but this time, it was just annoying. She never learned or grew. Anna was demoted to a clingy side-character even though she’s the protagonist; I have no words for how frustrating this was to watch. I miss the Kristanna bickering. I liked their dynamic overall; I understand their insecurities and lack of ability to communicate because of it, and I liked how non-toxic they were. Overall, they did love and trust each other; they believed in and supported each other, even though they had a falling out (again and again) and were separated for most of the film (again, wtf?) EA had no development together, and honestly, they were annoying asf as a duo. There was no communication and no understanding. I will say that Anna’s fear and frustration throughout the entire movie was absolutely 100% understandable and sensible; she’d already lost too much before, and wasn’t prepared to lose anything else. I just wish she’d been portrayed a bit differently??? And it would’ve been nice if Elsa had stopped for, like, two minutes to be like, “hey, are you okay, you seem clingy and worried” but instead she just kept running and didn’t gaf.

It was over dramatic for the sake of plot, when it didn’t have to be. Elsa didn’t have to continuously try and push Anna away “for her protection.” They absolutely could’ve done the vast majority of things together. Fuck, they could’ve gone to the dark sea together. Anna could’ve stayed on the beach while Elsa tackled the Nokk. Then when Anna saw that Elsa was perfectly capable of protecting herself, they could’ve parted ways then and done whatever it was they needed to do. Or, Elsa could’ve taken Anna to Ahtohallan?? They may have discovered there that Anna couldn’t enter, but then they’d be given the opportunity to communicate, and Anna would’ve at least been included, since this was her history, too.

If this is a movie about two sisters, why the ever loving fuck is it all about Elsa and her origins? What about Anna’s origins? They were her parents, too. Sure, we ask “why does Elsa have magic,” but why doesn’t Anna have magic? Why was Elsa the “gift”? Why is Anna’s superpower “love”?? And why is that “superpower” only valid when it’s in regards to Elsa? Why is Anna so strong, physically? Emotionally? Personally? Is it just her? Why isn’t she an element, too? What’s with this bridge bullshit? Why the fuckkkk is Elsa the “fifth spirit” when she’s ice and ice is literally just water? I have so many questions.

How the heck was Iduna Northuldra? Did she become “whiter” because she remained inside a castle for twenty years? Or was she always “white passing”? Or was she adopted into the forest? Who are her parents? Did anybody miss her when she ran off to the kingdom? Her scarf was from “one of [their] oldest families” and yet nobody seemed to know who she was? And what do you mean “oldest families”? Are there no remaining members of that family? Nobody who was missing her? Nobody who would’ve recognised her daughters who are literally carbon-copies of her????

The shipwreck scene and the following scene pissed me off soooo much in the theatre lol First, it really was beautiful how they did it, but the interactions felt out of character. Elsa brought up the memories of their parents’ demise without consoling Anna at all. Not only did she just do it without at least a warning, she then proceeded to leave her behind in her own fit. Which, okay, yes, to an extent that makes sense; she was over-ridden by guilt. But those were Anna’s parents too. Elsa was all she had, and Elsa left her behind. I just- AND THEN in this moment of severe grief and horror, as these terrible things were revealed, Anna was pushed away again to be left on her own to deal with things alone. She’d JUST sacrificed her own feelings for Elsa, and Elsa’s response was to shove her away. WHY. I just??? hello??? Like, Elsa does care about Anna, right? That’s canon? So why tf would they write her like this?? jfc

Every single new character was wasted potential. Mattias above all else was very interesting, and should’ve had at least ten minutes more screentime??? I liked the scene of him and Anna discussing whatever, but there should’ve been more. They both cared more about Arendelle than anyone; they were both sworn to protect. There could’ve been more of an on-screen relationship there. (and don’t fucking come at me with your gross-ass ships please, tyvm). Honeymaren and Ryder were there for ??? merchandise? A reason for Elsa to stay behind? Queer-baiting??? I don’t get it. They did,,, nothing. Yelena? Did nothing. Why do these name-characters do nothing?? What’s the point???

This was advertised as a “big adventure” but had hardly any adventure. Frohana was apart for most of the damn movie, the action scenes had little consequences, the “climax” was ??? what, Elsa freezing? Who cares?? It’s obvious she’s going to come back. The wave heading for Arendelle??? Yeah, that would’ve been a good climax if it actually did any damage. But no, I guess Elsa can teleport now? aight. and now she gets to play hero again even though she didn’t do shit

The plot(?) was very predictable, and didnt really have a twist. Old white guy kills innocent POC. Okay. That’s real life, yeah? It’s shit; it happens, but why was this whole movie based around that? Was it a political statement? We don’t really need more political movies these days??? People are aware, and things are shit as is; idk it just felt forced. But this is a v controversial subject so imma shut up lol

THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES. Unless you’re Anna. Then you suffer severely cuz,,, fuck her, right? The entire cave thing (as beautiful and needed as it was) could’ve been prevented entirely if Elsa had just fucking communicated. But instead, Anna had to suffer again in such a severe way. Her feelings DID have consequences; they effected her severely and even influenced wreckless behaviour. But then?? it’s all over. And suddenly, it doesn’t matter. Suddenly, who cares? Elsa returns and is (for some unforeseen reason) magically forgiven. This ISN’T HOW SISTERS ARE. If my sister pulled half the shit Elsa did, the first thing she’d be greeted with is a slap across the face and a very loud “fuck you.” THEN she’d get a hug and some tears. You don’t fuck with people’s emotions like that. And the fact that there were no serious consequences is infuriating.

Anna becomes Queen without context. Did she want to be queen? Did she suggest it? Did Elsa decided “eh fuck it i’m bored, your turn” and just dump it on her? Anna is a free-spirit. Yes, she was absolutely devoted to her kingdom; her people always came first; she was an incredibly loving and selfless princess, but was she truly prepared to give up that freedom to be Queen? I think she fits the role beautifully; she was absolutely born to rule. But is she happy? Or is she yet again cleaning up Elsa’s mess, since that seems to be all she does?

Why did Elsa stay in the forest? Is it because she felt like she belonged with the spirits? With the people? Away from civilisation? All of the above? None of the above? And how did that conversation go with Anna? How did she explain; “hey, I know I died and fucked you up and promised that we’d always stay together, but I’ve decided I’m gonna leave you behind again and stay here with these people I barely know.” Did Anna object, or did she see the positives of being away from someone so toxic???? It makes no senseeeee, they were so good together in the first movie; it all feels so out of character. Both of them feel out of character.

There were few (very few) moments in which they really were like themselves:

The charades scene.

Anna laughing at Elsa’s braid-stache.

Elsa making toys for children.

The pleasant Kristanna scenes at the beginning.

Anna’s anger scenes.

Even Elsa’s personal drama???

but that’s it? I’ve seen it four times in theatre, and a few times online (though mostly in pieces) so I don’t think I missed anything. Perhaps I’m blinded by the frustration that this film caused. Overall:

The plot was weak.

The animation was beautiful.

Kristanna wasn’t the Kristanna we truly know?

Elsa was dramatic and annoying because she had no development.

Anna was demoted to a clingy side-character and was given a half-assed purpose.

The music was meh.

There was too much and yet somehow not enough.

It was a mess.

Six years. SIX. I-

ugh.

final note: PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTIONS IF I MISSED SOMETHING. I think it’s also important to note that if you went to the theatre for 2 hours of entertainment, that’s great, but not the same as those of us that have dedicated six years of our lives to these characters? So please don’t come @ me if you were just a movie-goer. I also wanna say that there were a lot of parts of this movie that I loved and will hold onto, but overall, the movie as a whole was meh. I LOVED Anna & Elsa in Frozen; they had good development and had reasons for being how they were. They had a good dynamtic and worked well together. I hated their relationship in F2; it was toxic and forced in many ways; they didn’t interact nearly enough, and when they did, they were bitching for the sake of plot, which was very frustrating.

This isn’t a hate post so please don’t come at me lol my opinion is entirely irrelevent in the grand scheme of things, but hey, we’re here to chat and share, right?

A continuous story of Season 9 codas exploring the bond between Steve and Danny as they grow even closer.

Chapter 6

Danny’s standing in line to board his flight back to Oahu when his phone pings with a text.

Nothing I type is gonna be right.  If you’re still speaking to me can I pick u up at the airport?

Danny wants to laugh at Steve’s stilted overture, but there’s still a knot of hurt in his stomach.

Is that your attempt to apologize for not apologizing?

There’s a pause, and then a series of texts come faster than Danny thought Steve could type.

I don’t know what the fuck it is.

I screwed up, I know it.  I’m so sorry. I don’t know what to do.

Please let me pick u up at the airport.

Danny shuffles up the line towards the gate attendant, trying to ignore the burn of tears gathering behind his eyes.  He knows he’s going to forgive Steve, it’s just a matter of how and when.  And from what Tani and Junior told him, Steve suffered plenty over the past week.

And the goof deserves something for spending all night doing paperwork, and buying Danny what Tani described to him as a “giant-ass” box of coco puffs.  Even if Danny didn’t get to eat them.

Okay.

Things are still a little stilted between them when Steve calls to tell Danny that his friend Carson is dead, found in a downed Cessna with a baby in the back seat.  Danny meets Steve at the coroner’s office, watching as Steve pays his last respects to his former team member.  He’s not sure if Steve is going to insert himself into the investigation despite NCIS’s warning, but when Danny asks Noelani about Carson’s belongings, Steve plays along.  

 Danny could never have guessed that Steve would wind up in cuffs before the day was over.  It’s not bad payback for what Steve has put Danny through lately.  As Danny teases Steve about breaking him out of his jail cell, he can feel the last of his hurt dissipating.  This is what they do – one or the other of them gets into trouble – usually Steve – and then they work their way out of it, together.   It’s not likely to change anytime soon.

 By the end of the day, mother and baby are safe.  Danny is at home frowning into his refrigerator when he hears the familiar sound of a key unlocking his front door.

 “Danny?  You hungry?”  Steve comes into the kitchen and holds up a bag.  “I got fish tacos, and beer.”

 “Thought you were having a drink with your new girlfriend?”

 Steve has the decency to blush.  “You know it’s not like that… I’m just trying to maintain open lines of communication. You never know when we might need NCIS’ help.”

 Danny peers into the bag Steve is still holding, and pulls out the six-pack of beer.  “You, mister Navy Seal, need help from them?  That’ll be the day.”

 Steve sits down at the table and starts pulling more boxes out.  From the looks of it, he’s got enough tacos for ten people.  Steve’s still nervous, Danny thinks.  He’ll have to do something about that.  Frankly, it’s something he’s been thinking about most of the day.

 “You know,” he starts, “it’s gonna be nice having Adam on the team.”

 Steve nods.  “Yeah, I agree.  I’m glad you got a chance to talk to him.”

 “He thought you sent me to give him a pep talk.”

 “A pep talk?  What did you say?”

 “Well, besides that he smelled ripe as hell, I told him I knew how he was feeling.  After me and Rachel split up, I was in a bad place too.”

 Steve hums sympathetically. “Poor guy.”

 “Yeah.”  Danny takes swig of his beer, and realizes that he isn’t any closer to what he meant to say to Steve when this train of thought left the station.  “I told you why me and Rachel broke up, right?”

 Steve’s brow narrows. “What do you mean?”

 Danny bites his lip, and forces himself not to look away.  “At least part of it was that she was tired of being worried about me.  She didn’t like being married to a cop, putting her heart on the line for someone who was always in the line of fire.”

 Steve shifts in his seat, one of his feet brushing Danny’s under the table.  “I can definitely see how that would be hard.”

 Here goes, then.  “I can’t say I’m unaware of the irony.”  

 Steve’s eyes lock onto Danny’s, and Danny is paralyzed, wondering if Steve gets what he’s trying to say.  A long minute goes by, and Steve finally blinks, looking down at his beer, and then back up at Danny.

 “So where does that leave us?”

 Danny bites his lip. He’s not about to give up on Steve because Steve’s job is dangerous, is where it leaves them.  Not that they’re married, but…  “I’m not saying that Rachel feeling that way was wrong.  It’s not a bed of roses, being married to a cop. But at the time, all I kept thinking was that she didn't trust me.  I was only taking the risks I had to take, based on the information I had.  I knew how to protect myself, as best as I could, and get the job done.  But she didn’t trust me to handle that.”

 Something changes in Steve’s expression, the muscles in his shoulders relaxing.  “Do you trust me, Danny?”

 “I do.”  God help him, Danny does.  “Because if I didn’t, I’d have to either believe that you don’t know what you’re doing, or you don’t care if you live to the end of the day.” Danny looks around at the scene – Steve in his kitchen, dinner on the table, beers in their hands.  This is what Steve wants at the end of the day, not to wind up in the morgue.  It couldn’t be clearer.  

 Danny takes a deep breath. “So I owe you an apology for last week.  I kind of lost my cool, getting so mad at you for jumping into the claws of the sand washer.”

 Steve opens his mouth to reply, then closes it again and rubs his hand over his face.  The tips of his ears go a little red.  “That was actually kind of stupid.”

 There’s a beat – Danny can’t believe his ears, and then he’s up out of his seat, hands waving despite himself.  “Wait – are you admitting that you didn’t need to do that?  That maybe, just maybe, there was a better way to catch that idiot than being just as much of an idiot yourself?”  Danny shakes his head.  “Getting thrown in jail for not following procedure and admitting you were wrong, all in one day – what’s next, you going to let me drive my own car?”

 “I missed you, Danno,” Steve says suddenly, his voice soft.  

 It catches Danny off-guard, mid-rant, and he stares at Steve helplessly.  “I missed you too.”  

 Now they’re out there on that limb again, swaying in the breeze.  It’s been quite a day.  Danny suddenly remembers what started it all, and feels a pang of sadness.  He wonders if Carson left someone behind, someone who is really wishing their partner didn’t take ridiculous risks.

 “Hey, you know, I’m really sorry about Carson.  He seemed like a good guy.”  Danny reaches out and squeezes Steve’s shoulder.

 “Thanks.  He was.”  Steve nods slowly, and then turns back to the table.  

 Danny can tell Steve doesn’t want to talk any more about Carson, they’ve done that enough today.  Danny understands.  “So, um, what’d you get?”

 “A little of everything,” Steve replies quickly, apparently happy with the change of subject.  “Blackened tilapia, and mahi with mango salsa.  And some onion rings.  And a salmon bowl with rice, in case you didn’t want tacos.”

 Danny sits down, joining Steve in opening up the boxes of food.  “In case I didn’t want tacos?  When has that ever happened?  Although it wouldn’t kill you to get regular tacos one of these days, we don’t have to eat Nemo every time.”

 “Fish’s good for you,” Steve mumbles, already chewing.  “Thanks for breaking me out of jail, by the way.”

 “It was a conference room,” Danny admits, their running joke finally running out.  “But you’re welcome.”  He opens the box of onion rings and inhales the delicious smell of fried food. “It was worth it to see the look on Warren’s face when she read the letter.”

 “She did seem surprised that I wasn’t more upset about getting arrested.”  Steve smiles at him as he says this, one part confident and two parts smug.  It’s one of Danny’s favorite looks on Steve.  

 “You weren’t exactly quaking in your boots.”

 “I knew you’d come through for me.”

 Danny huffs a laugh.  “Wish I could take credit for your immunity and means.”

 They continue eating in relative silence.  Danny catches Steve looking at him intently a few times, and finally he sets down his food and gives Steve a pointed look.  “What is it now?”

 “What?”  Steve responds automatically, then gives in and grins.  “I like your hair.”

 Danny barely restrains himself from touching his head with his taco-messy fingers to see if his hair is sticking up.  “What, you mean my haircut?”  He’s pleased with how it turned out, actually.  He hadn’t realized Steve had noticed.  “I’ve had it for weeks.”

 Steve just shrugs. “And I like it.”

 It’s just another night hanging out with Steve, eating and drinking and maybe, probably, flirting. Danny knows he’s lucky to have this – to have gone from the depths of his break-up with Rachel to having whatever he has with Steve, a person he can depend on, who depends on him.  Someone to care about, and who cares about him in return.

 And if they aren’t quite back to where they were a few weeks ago, to that baffling and wonderful moment when Danny thought Steve might just kiss him as the skies opened up on Waikiki beach, well, maybe Danny can convince Steve to have a movie night with him soon, and see where it leads.  They’ve got time, and Danny isn’t going to waste any more of it wishing Steve was someone different.  Because Steve is amazing exactly the way he is.

A very popular question! Obviously the identity of Kit’s mother is a mystery right now, and a significant one. Kit only knows the story his father told him, which isn’t true. A great deal of the details of this mystery are shown in Ghosts of the Shadow Market: we will meet her, as part of Jem and Tessa’s search for the Lost Herondale. If you don’t read Ghosts, you’ll get the answer to Kit’s mother’s identity in Queen and TWP.

It’s a fairly significant part of Kit’s story, and part of the reason Jem and Tessa were so keen to find him.

Obviously the dynamic between Kit and Ty is going to be significantly affected by Livvy’s death. It’s a crushing occurrence for Ty, and the way he responds to it is going to affect his future and his relationship with Kit. Kit is desperate to make sure Ty is okay in the moment, so much so that it may blind him to longer-term issues.

Okay, it doesn’t really. It contains lettuce.

Maggie Stiefvater has a really interesting post about downtimes for characters, and why we want to see them be happy and relax, because it’s a release of tension, but also the way you buy that relaxation at the expense of plot. I think it’s an interesting piece about how writers calibrate tension and catharsis carefully in books, since too much of one or the other ruins your pacing. She calls scenes where people, say, happily eat a sandwich Ice Cream Cake scenes, which is funny in the sense I’ve always called them frosting scenes — as in, frosting on cake is great but an entire cake made out of frosting is disgusting. So I guess I would say that if you look at my books you can see that characters are usually happy and bantering and doing cute stuff in small moments between bigger ones, or at the end of the book where we sigh, sit back, and allow ourselves to relax.

Merci! ;)  I’m fond of Rayan too — along with Divya Joshi he forms a sort of power triad with Diego at the Scholomance, in terms of the Centurions who aren’t assholes. He helps Diego hide Kieran, and rescues Kieran from a specific and unusual torment set up by the Cohort. He also runs afoul of Horace Dearborn . . .

You might well meet Cristina’s mom ;) Jaime has a role in this book, but it is not huge — Diego has a much much bigger role, because Jaime is one of the main characters of TWP and so this series is meant to serve as an introduction to him, not a telling of his story. This is Cristina and Diego’s time (as far as Rosaleses go) and Jaime’s comes later. Jaime’s a lot of fun, so I’m definitely excited for his place at the forefront.

I think it’s natural to look at Dru’s situation (and Helen’s) and think they each just lost a sister, so here’s a sister restored to them, and clearly they would be joyous. And they are, but people are more complex than that. Dru worries Helen has been away so long that they won’t understand each other, and resents Helen for doing the things Julian usually does because it feels to her as if he’s being replaced. Helen worries that Dru won’t love and accept her, and worries she has no idea how to deal with kids or raise them. Aline makes a frittata. It’s not as if they don’t bond, but it’s a complicated path!

Diego is the one who takes care of Kieran in the Scholomance (along with Divya and Rayan) and it’s all from his POV. The Scholomance experience really changes Kieran, in the way he looks at the world, at Shadowhunters and even at his own responsibilities to his people. In the meantime he annoys Diego by sleeping under his bed, and Diego feeds him juice, berries, meat, and anything else unprocessed. :P

I’m glad you like Kieran! Of course Kieran’s relationships with other characters, including Cristina and Mark, are extremely significant to him — they are an enormous part of how he has changed, and overcome his past mistakes. All characters are defined in part by their relationships with other characters, as Emma and Julian’s relationship is significant to them, as Emma’s relationship to Malcolm defines her, as Julian’s relationship with Ty changes him, as Mark’s relationships with Kieran, Cristina and Julian define him  — we are all an interconnected web of love and friendship and enmity and forgiveness. No man is an island, etc. ;)

That said, Kieran being an exiled Faerie prince has always been significant, from his ability to gather information that would save Tavvy in LM, to his summoning of his father and meeting with Adaon in LoS. It is even more significant in Queen, where we start to see how the politics of faerie are falling apart and building back up again, and what role Kieran has in all of that. Who will sit the Unseelie Throne if not the King we know is a big piece of the QUAAD puzzle, and Kieran is integral to that — with Mark, or Cristina, or both, by his side. ;)

I always love to see love for Helen and Aline! Helen and Aline are back in Queen of Air and Darkness with a bang, and we see how they work with the established dynamic of the LA Institute. Everyone is thrilled to have them back, but it is also weird when a disruption comes to one's life, even if it is a joyful disruption. Aline is always standing up for her lady, and sometimes Helen really needs it.

And in The Eldest Curses, we see Helen and Aline fall in love, and before they are united, they are at odds--Aline wants to protect Alec, and Helen is investigating Magnus and Alec for crimes they may well have committed. Helen feels like she needs to be a great Shadowhunter, to prove her faerie blood doesn't make her prejudiced in favor of Downworlders... and part of why she wants that is that she doesn't want to be an obstacle for any of her little brothers and sisters, who she loves so much. She wants to make her dad and her family proud of her, and to honor the memory of Eleanor Blackthorn, the human mother who took her and Mark in, and raised them as her own. So Helen and Aline's mutual attraction is very complicated. Particularly as Aline isn't out quite yet.

Recap | 2 Moons | s01e07

Have you ever cried looking at a picture because the subject is just too beautiful? Like, their beauty transcends everything and the only thing left for you is to cry? No? Me neither. Let’s recap. (Spoilers, obv.)

So, we are now returning to the resort with Phana, Wayo, and the two girls. And, this stupid Phana is playing gentleman and offering to carry Kookgai’s bags. Ugh. You carry your own damn bags girl. And why is she touching my Wayo’s man! Please  keep your  hands  off  of  him! Then, she also has the audacity to “seduce” him by taking him to her room! Ugh. This of course makes our already emo Wayo even more emo. He is just hanging out in the balcony alone and being sad when Phana  appears! Yasss! He cares and doesn’t want to leave Wayo for other random-ass thirsty people.

But, Phana isn’t out of the water just yet. Wayo questions him (again) about his priorities and Phana explains (again) that he isn’t a philanderer anymore (because he’s found his one true love :P) and he asks Wayo to trust him as he won’t lie to Wayo. And, this of course makes him all smiley and dopey-faced-cute-ball that we all know and love.

Meanwhile, in the other room, all the boys are gathered to drink some blurry alcoholic beverages. Except Ming, who apparently, was standing in the beach after Kit told him not to follow him and stay there. Omg! First of all, yes, it’s cheesy and a totally cliche scene. But also, how cute is that! And, Ming looks so pure and so innocent. I mean – as I always say – what did we do to deserve to have someone like Ming in our life? Like us, even Kit can’t stay angry at those puppy eyes for too long. When he asks Ming why he did what he did, Ming explains that it’s not because he wants to look cool but it’s because he values Kit’s words and wants to obey them. Damn! Y u gotta be so deep Ming?

Back to Wayo and Phana – it’s the next morning in bed and it’s their usual couple-y shiz. I swear, if they just made a TV show about these two lounging around their bed room doing random couple-y things, I would watch the shit out of that show. Just saying. Anyway, things get steamy when Shorty goes into shower with the promise of being fed breakfast by Phana but comes out of it to find Ming, Forth, and Phana (and us!) staring at his sexy shirtless bodayyy.

Let’s make this clear. I really don’t believe that Wayo just randomly decided to come out of the shower with nothing on but a towel. He clearly wanted to seduce Phana with his sexy bodayy. Of course, he got a little more than he bargained for as Ming and Forth were also present to witness this glorious scene. Anyway, Ming quickly leaves but Forth and Phana stand their with their mouth open, unable to look away from our pretty boy Wayo. Phana quickly realizes this and not wanting to share Wayo with Forth manages to take Forth out of the room. When they are outside, Forth ends up telling Phana that he likes Wayo. (Ugh. What is happening??) After this confession, instead of saying – No, you can’t have him as he’s mine – Phana just runs away.

After the photo shoot for the competition, Wayo is in the beach clicking pictures when Phana comes in with a soda that Wayo had asked him earlier to buy for him. Then, things become a little serious. Phana (obviously rattled by Forth’s confession) tells Wayo about Forth liking him and asks if Wayo likes Forth back. This of course, tips Wayo over the edge and he explodes by saying that why is Phana helping Forth hit on him. But, Phana can’t understand why Wayo is upset (cause he likes you, duh!). This angers Wayo even more and he says that Phana can’t even understand what’s going on and doesn’t see the situation clearly. And, after that, Wayo runs away crying.

(Omg, you guys! Just fracking say I like you and kiss already! :P)

Anyway, Phana runs after Wayo but finds out that he already left with Forth in a car. He gets upset and sits in Beam’s CRV and starts staring out of the window in an intense fashion, which means – it’s flashback time.

Things we learn from the flashback:

Adorable young Phana saw adorable young Wayo and it was love in first sight.

Adorable young Kit and adorable young Beam helped him find info about Wayo.

Phana was in denial about his love for Wayo from pretty early on.

In the scene where young Wayo goes in to confess to Phana, Phana actually goes outside and finds a note from Wayo confessing his love for for Phana. (So, he knew all along?????? Then, why all this … nonsenseeeee…. Ughhh)

The night when Wayo got a phone call from Kit, it was actually Phana calling him (as we suspected)

That night, Phana also tells Kit that he is hesitant to pursue Wayo as he thinks things may not be the same as when they were little (Ahh, maybe our perfect Phana is afraid that Wayo has moved on. Hmm. Makes sense, I suppose)

We already knew that Phana cared for Wayo but I was so happy to see the extent of that. We find out that Phana gets as excited as Wayo (if not more) to impress the other. That face when he found out he had topped the test and that he gets to share this with his crush? That’s the face of a person in love!

Impressions: Finally! Things are starting to happen and people are starting to talk about their emotions. I want Phana to stop being in denial or stop being scared and start pursuing Wayo seriously. Kit, Beam, and Ming already know Phana and Wayo are destined to be together. It’s high time that Phana and Wayo realize this as well.

Next episode: Phana gets touchy feely with Wayo.
