a note about women’s month 💘

thank you to everyone who voted in the fave female panelists poll this year! last year was a blast and this year was even better! we’ve seen more woman on tv this year — and some improved, though grossly insufficient, diversity within that — and i love celebrating that with you everyday!

last year, i wrote this:

the lack of diversity in british comedy is an alarming issue that has only recently become headline news. statistics presented by this study, based on 50 years of panel shows and over 4,700 individual episodes, are beyond disappointing for women (here is an easy-to-read graph by series & by year); similar disappointment stems from the lineups at popular comedy festivals, like edinburgh. in 2014, the head of tv at the bbc promised to end all-male comedy shows, a “step in the right direction” that hasn’t been without fear of tokenism, fair criticism as well as some naysayers. women, people of colour, lgbt peoples, those differently-abled and those all of the above and in between are just as funny as cis-identifying white men and deserve a place on our screens. watch their standup, buy their books, stream their videos, listen to their podcasts, comment on and like their content, follow their social media. this support can directly help women become more visible in british comedy.

in the last year, have you been actively conscious of supporting women in comedy? i’d like to take a moment to talk about some ways you can do that :)

➡ here is a list of some radio programmes currently on the air. while it does look stacked with men (because it is), women do feature on so many of these series and absolutely smash it! did you know sandi toksvig hosted the news quiz for almost ten years, and its regular panelists include susan calman, rebecca front, zoe lyons, and more? or that victoria coren mitchell has hosted heresy since 2006 (because there’s nothing she can’t do)? or that sarah millican, jo brand, and sally phillips have each hosted series of the museum of curiosity? these are all on the masterpost! 👏 p.s. you can always search for and/or request more radio shows at /r/panelshow or, if they’re not panel radio shows, /r/notapanelshow :)

➡ social 👏 media 👏 determines 👏 relevancy 👏 do i agree with this system? no. is this the system entertainers are currently slaves to? yes. do you follow your favourite women on twitter, instagram, youtube, etc? one click. one like. one retweet. one reblog. here is a list of some of the comedians i follow on twitter to get you started — all of your faves are on there! when you like something they are on, tweet about it! tag them, the network, the channel, use the hashtags, post pictures! tell channels like dave or people like richard osman who your faves are, who deserves more exposure, who you want to see in the future! we’re already obsessing over how much we like these ladies anyways, so why not make that obsession even more visibile?

➡ we have a really sweet, modest community here of at least 10,000 people. this is not something i’ve ever talked about because i don’t want what i’m going to say to be misconstrued as begging for notes — that is not my concern. but you may have heard people on this site talk about something called the like/reblog ratio. a lot of creators are concerned that, apart from tumblr’s ever-evolving ludicrous algorithms murdering their visibility, people are so obsessed with their blog aesthetics that they’re not actually reblogging everything they like. here’s a couple of my gifset details, one from a nicher post and one from a more popular post:

while i appreciate any notes, numbers likes these aren’t always encouraging. i’m not here to tell you how to enjoy your spare time and interests, or to criticise people who enjoy aesthetic. i just want to point out that if you want someone to be successful, you play a direct part in promoting them and spreading their art. as the years pass, this becomes more and more true. i know how much you all love these ladies — i get messages about them every single day — but it’s a simple fact that a gifset of james acaster or noel fielding or richard ayoade or david mitchell is going to get more notes than a post about any of the women who placed in the top 5 of this poll. i am not bringing this up to this make anyone feel guilty about what they enjoy; i only hope my mentioning this encourages you to be conscientious when participating on social media, especially when your interest lies in the products of a grossly unjust industry that is taking a lot fucking time to get itself on the right track. more followers on a comedian’s twitter = more work for that comedian, because that’s simply the direction the film & tv industry is going. if your follow yields that much power, why not use it for good?

1. What’s your favorite candle scent?

I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED. ive been Purchasing various smelly candles for my gay divination activities, and i have a few nominees. i first thought of the candle i have now, a pink one with a very sweet vanilla smell, i love very sweet smells because it makes me think of candy which i tend to try to fill my inner void with. however im going to go with the first candle i bought, a dark orange one with a citrus smell. citrus scents are my next favourite and specifically this one reminded me of curiously smelling candles at my piano teachers apartment when i was very young.

2. What female celebrity do you wish was your sister?

idk. ive been listening to her lion king stuff lately. dont judge me i needed to hear remixes of lion king music i was lost in that sauce in high school. and i just think shes neat. i dont think she would aggressively make me feel bad about everything, UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE

My Halloween experience:

i dont even remember i probably had some kind of fairy wings? i think i remember fairy wings. we went to one (1) house. later on, since we werent allowed to go trick-or-treating, we were each allotted a certain amount of candy, and if we ate more than a designated amount per day, we were in trouble and wouldnt be allowed anymore. i do remember getting in trouble for this. i think i stole someones candy. sibling against sibling. finally we were allowed to go trick or treating, i went with my younger brothers and by then, was a teenager and felt too tall and really uncomfortable

LMAO I JUST REMEMBERED THAT LAST TIME WE WENT TRICK-OR-TREATING NOT IN A RURAL AREA, my dad drove us around in a van and watched us like a hawk i believe. it was very tense and methodical.

i read the harry potter series (I WROTE SIBLIGS LOL) more times than i could count while growing up. i read the first hunger games book and didnt fancy it for whatever reason, and i had an obnoxious twilight-hating phase.

sometimes, though, im really genuinely worried about what accent i do have. im worried i read so much harry potter growing up, it rubbed off on me. when i was a server, people would ask about an unusual accent i apparently had, and once, when i was talking to a super british guy who called me luv at walmart, he was like STOP. WAIT. YOU HAVE A BRITISH ACCENT. and i was like WHAT UHHH BYEBYE AND HE WAS LIKE NO. I HEARD YOU. STOP and i was like that michael jackson meme where he covers his face running away and everyone else in the line was staring

all of my grandparents are dead.

You were pulled out of your own thoughts by your college professor explaining what he was gonna have you all do to end the class…

Professor Aiden: “so class to finish this class we are going to do a quote analysis, the quote shown behind me is one of my personal favorites… the requirement for length is one page its due at the beginning of class tomorrow, but you all can start during the 5 minutes we have left, I will be wandering around to see how you all are doing…”

Aiden watches everyone start writing, all the kids including yourself anxiously waiting for the bell, Aiden starts making his rounds around the room… but you feel cold, you feel like you’re the only one being watched, this isn’t the first time you have had this feeling either…

Aiden appears over your shoulder, you always sat on the outside of a row, on the edge so you could have some leg room… but you were also out of the way incase anything happened outside of normal… that’s right hunting exists outside of the tv shows and movies that are made famous by what everyone believes is legends and myths…

You were the only hunter that you knew of for the longest time, but then you met your extended cousins Sam & Dean Winchester… staying in contact with them and letting them know you were doing your post secondary education as well as hunting made you feel even safer… a hand then appeared on your lower back, you couldn’t say it wasn’t alarming, it was very alarming but you ignored it…

Aiden (in a whisper to you): “stay back after class I wish to discuss your future with you…”

You then felt a tingly sensation in your back, you shivered slightly and returned back to your paper, a few moments later the bell rang announcing the end of the day and the end of class… you packed your stuff and went to get up but found you couldn’t move, you felt like something was wrong so you pulled out your cell and made play that you stopped to text someone…

Your eyes went wide as you put your hands under the desk and silently texted Dean about your professor… you culdnt tell but he replyed with im going to the car to get weapons… ill be right there…

You looked up again after having your gaze averted making direct eye contact with your professor…

Y/N: “what did you do to me?”

Aiden: “I know what you are little girl…”

Y/N: “ya that’s exactly what I am perv… one who would like to get home…”

Dean was now looking for your room, he was ready incase of anything… but what he didn’t expect was to find the locked room, when everything else was open… he figured that was where you were but he didn’t expect there to be no way inside…

Y/N: “what did you do to me you perv…”

Aiden: “you just took a nap deary, now prepare to be bread like you have never been bread before…”

Y/N: “sicko, what are you… since you know what I am I assume your not human…”

Aiden: “im not sweetheart, im a siren…”

Your eyes widened as he was instantly in front of you, his finger nails turning into talons as he slashed your bra, your skirt and your panties… tearing them from your body… you let out a terrified shriek, this caught deans attention…

9.11.19 - Day 106

S woke me up at 8:45 to tell me the mutual help meeting would be at 9:30. I dozed until my alarm went off at 9, then got up.

The OT tech on the ward was running breakfast club (making sandwiches to order for everyone), and I got a bacon and egg sandwich.

The meeting wasn't particularly exciting. They're changing the rules on how leave can be used in a way that will negatively impact smokers. I get that smoking is bad for you (I don't and have never smoked) but an acute psych ward where people are by definition very unwell is not the place to be forced to quit. It won't be good for the general mood on the ward and will make life harder for the staff, as well as being horrible for patients who normally smoke.

Went back to my room and further developed my suicide plans. S was doing checks and we had a chat about it a bit. The thought of having to tell quick lies or avoid questions to be let off the ward isn't nice at all. S said it's hard because being being honest is important to me, and also that having a plan isn't in itself a terrible thing, it's what I do with it.

Lunch kinda sucked so I just had a couple of bits of bread squished together with spread. I have no idea what I did all afternoon. I think I was in my room for most of it? I messaged with a guy who was in here for a couple of weeks a couple of months back because M and I are trying to obtain something he can get hold of. Someone else (a lovely woman who was also in here) is hopefully taking care of it though because it's easier for her to communicate than for me in here.

Had my physical obs done and then my dad came towards the end of the afternoon.

Went into the city centre with my dad. We went to my favourite book shop in the world and I got 7 books. He paid a bit towards them which was nice. I got recommendations from one of the guys that works there for a few of them which was great. I got a book I already have without realising it so I need to take that back at some point.

My dad bought me a milkshake and we had a wander, then picked up Chinese and brought it back to the ward to eat. Sweet and sour chicken balls and an udon noodle chow mein. 👌

K ran a quiz this evening. When she's done it before and my dad's been around we've been a team but tonight we did it separately. He got 18/20 and I got 14.5 (half point for knowing a pen name of JKR).

Been chatting to M a bit, who isn't doing too good.

I've read 90 pages of one of the books I bought today. When I was "elated" a couple of months ago I read a little bit but apart from that I don't remember the last time I read something, and if I've finished a book in the last 8 months I don't remember it.

I got a free vape (also when "elated") and then forgot about it, but I found it this evening when I was reorganising my books and have been using it a lot.

Yesterday was terrible but today has been ok. I'm really worried things are getting high again but it could also just be me being paranoid. I kind of want to mention it to S or L (S is in tomorrow and I think L on Monday) but I'm worried it'll get me taken off the mirtazapine. I guess I'll see how tomorrow is, and if today was an exception rather than the new rule.

Things being high is great but also I know that I won't be allowed to be like it and the comedown is the worst. Surely the mirtazapine wouldn't do this given its 15mg and when I was on it before I got up to 45mg with nothing like this? But also the first time I was on sertraline it did nothing and the second time things got high. I just need to see how it goes but it's hard.

I'm going to read for a bit more until the meds inevitably kick in and I fall asleep. The quetiapine last night was a mistake, I checked tonight with a nurse who is also bank but in relatively regularly. Every time he comes my meds are different 😆

“Who’s the new girl?” Yuta asked as he chewed his sandwich.

Well...bread. It was just two slices of bread. Sicheng stole all of the turkey from it after Yuta got up to get a drink from the lunch line. He didn’t really care though.

“That girl you bumped into in the hallway earlier?” Johnny guessed, more focused on the homework he was doing that was supposed to be due today. “We have, like, half of our classes with her.”

“I’ve never seen her before?”

Doyoung by now had just settled down in front of Yuta after getting out of the lunch line. Catching wind of the conversation, he butted in, “That’s because you don’t pay attention, dumbass. Madi literally was in your group for a project in bio. I remember because she came up to me trying to get me to tell you to actually do your project.”

Yuta perked up. “So her name’s Madi?”

The group of friends all collectively groaned, loud enough to hear over the busy cafeteria noise.

“There she goes.” Sicheng looked up and nudged his head in the direction behind Yuta.

“She’s sorta...cute” he thought, as he caught a glance of the girl before she disappeared out of the cafeteria. At least he thought he thought it. The boys’ teasing “oooh”s and giggles said otherwise.

When the bell rung to dismiss lunch, Yuta and his friends got up and threw away their trash. Unlike the group of friends’ usual habit of walking ridiculously slow to their next class so they would make it the very last minute, Yuta sped walk, leaving everyone behind him. He was going to properly talk to Madi, and maybe even get her phone number.

“Okay kids, pop quiz time,” announced Ms.Anston. “It’s based on what you learned these past 3 weeks. Hope you all studied...oh, and it’s 54 questions.”

Shit.

The bell rang signifying the end of the period and Yuta barely got his test done. While on his way sulking to his locker he was tackled by that one weird kid Jaehyun that no one talked to. Yuta guessed that he was under the impression that Yuta actually liked him, but he was in too bad of a mood to tell him off like usual and just shrugged him off. “Heyyyy, buddy! How was physics,” Jaehyun inquired.

“Jung Jeffrey, can you please stop jumping on people like that? You’ll give him back problems,” Ten nagged, and turned his attention to the disappointed (and slightly annoyed) man that Jaehyun was currently getting off of. “But I guess physics sucked ass,” Ten continued, smirking like the little shit he was “,since there was a test last period and you wanted to talk to your little lady?”

“How do you even know about that, I literally just--”

“Johnny.”

“Ah, yes, your boyfriend?”

“Doyoung if you do noT SHUT THE HELL UP--”

By now Yuta’s group of friends all were gathered in the middle of the hallway, ignoring the frustrated stares of their other peers and the cat fight that Doyoung and Ten were in the middle of.

Taeyong started to question the crush-ridden boy. “So,” he continued, “you didn’t get the chance to talk to her?”

“Nah, Ms. Anston wanted us to suffer with a 52 question test so…”

“--Wait, we have a test,” Sicheng interrupted.

“Winnie, I love you, but not now. So you didn’t even catch her after class?” Taeyong kept pushing for answers. Yuta was thankful for his legitimate concern. Every other one of his friends were probably planning when they could possibly embarrass him (especially Johnny and Doyoung...he did not trust those assholes one bit).

“Um, Yuta?”

The group of boys barely noticed the soft voice floating above the ruckus of the hall outside of the small circle they had formed.

“Yuta?”

A small hand crept onto the said boy’s shoulder. “Yuta!”

When he finally turned around, the last person he expected to be calling his name was right in front of him. The girl that he was currently having a crisis over, Madi. Her hazel eyes sparkled as he looked at them, her brown hair perfectly falling around her face.

In reality, her hair was was dishevelled and her eyes were squinted and soulless. Getting through a busy high school hallway is like being on some sort of survival show. Only the strong survive. However, Yuta could not properly process the actual state Madi was in. Too blinded by some type of attraction to her. Doyoung stopped in the middle of his petty attempts of insulting Ten, now distracted by the current interaction between them.

“...yeah?”

Judging by the snorts Yuta could here next to him from Johnny and Ten, the word ‘yeah’ did not come out right. Or he was making a stupid face that most-likely made him look like some constipated potato. Either way, Yuta was screwing up already and the conversation had barely started.

Madi’s voice managed to snap him back to reality from planning his own death in his head. “Ms. Anston wanted me to bring you back to the classroom? I have no idea why but she said she wanted to talk to you and didn’t trust you enough to actually come if you were by yourself.”

The only thing Yuta could manage to do was nod his head and follow her.

A voice in the back of his head was urging him to start some type of conversation with the girl as she walked next to him in the hallway. The silence between the two was slowly driving him to madness and Yuta was pretty sure he would have jumped out of the nearby window by now if it wasn’t for some handsy couple that was making out in front of it.

Madi turned around to face Yuta, now in front of their destination. The sudden stop caught the boy off guard, causing him to trip. Madi was now in his arms as he tried to keep from falling on her. The two stayed in the position until Madi talked again and pushed away.

“Uh, so, we’re here. I’ll see you later…”

Seeing this as his chance, Yuta popped the question he had been dying to ask, “Hey, can I get your number?”

There was a moment of silence as Yuta waited for his answer.

One second passed by…

Then two…

Then three…

It really wasn’t that long a period of time, but it felt like an eternity to Yuta. Surely, this absence of a response meant that she was disgusted, weirded out, and overall just trying to comprehend why this dusty, crusty, musty boy with bad grades even dared asking such a thing.

The silence really meant: Holy crap fucking Nakamoto Yuta, A.K.A the hottest fucking dude I’ve ever seen, just asked for my number. But he did not know that.

“Yeah,” Madi finally squeaked. The two exchanged their phone numbers awkwardly, Madi almost dropping her phone (twice) while trying to enter Yuta into her phone.

“I’ll text you after school then~” Yuta winked, in an obviously better mood than he was on the way to the classroom. The sentence seemed more like a statement than a suggestion to Madi, but she couldn’t have care less. She was looking forward to having a decent conversation with the boy, contrary to the conversations they had when they worked on their biology project together. If you could even categorize them as conversations. It was really just Madi trying to ask him questions as he played games on his phone in the middle of class when they were supposed to be working (she ended up doing the whole project herself).

Tagging: Does tagging people stress anyone else out? I mean I love it when people tag me in things and I imagine I’m not the only one who does, so I should return the favor. Then I go to tag people and suddenly it’s like this pop quiz of who I’m friends with on here. And you have to reference your mental list of who likes to share stuff about themselves and who only likes to do fandom related stuff and who is so secretive they are probably really a congressman that just needs a break from the craziness that is our current political situation. And by the time you’ve eliminated your congressman and the people who have already done this and the people who haven’t done it but were already tagged because you’re all friends with the same people, I have like two names which is embarrassing. And then I think that I should be better about building and keeping friendships on here. Which reminds me I that I’ve really got to make friends in the town I just moved to. And suddenly I’m googling those embarrassing ehow articles about how to make friends as an adult when all I really wanted to do was answer a couple of questions instead of designing this brochure for work. So yeah.

1: Are you named after someone? My mother went to school with a girl named Jacqueline Sunshine. My mom thought she was very pretty and held onto the name. Prior to my birth her mother and step-father (Jack and Lynne) decided I was named after them. Which isn’t true, but because of this my middle name is an altered version of my paternal grandmother’s name.

2: When is the last time you cried? It was the very first thing I did this morning. @notorious-igg sent me a link to this article because she is rude.

3: Do you like your handwriting? No. It’s tiny and looks like a guy wrote it.

4: What is your favorite lunch meat? Cajun turkey

5: Do you have kids? I do not, but I do have a field of goats I pass on my commute that I call “my boys” and wish a good morning every weekday.

7: Do you use sarcasm? My first use of sarcasm is, quite literally, mentioned in my baby book.

10: What is your favorite kind of cereal? Either Life or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Except Cinnamon Toast Crunch must be eaten dry because there are rules and I am not an animal.

12: Do you think you’re a strong person? No, I’m definitely weak. I cry a lot. I need encouragement. My pride bruises easier than an apple.

13: What is your favorite ice cream flavor? The Tonight Dough by Ben and Jerry’s. It is “chocolate and caramel ice creams with chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter cookie dough, and a crunchy chocolate cookie swirl.” I’m considering quitting my job and becoming a full-time evangelist for this stuff. 16: What is the least favorite physical thing you like about yourself? This question confuses me. Am I supposed to list the things I like about myself and then pick the one I like the least? You’re asking a lot of me here. Um, I guess my toes? They are long and ok looking and my mother always complains about her stubby toes so I suppose it could be a lot worse. This question is still weird.

17: What color pants and shoes are you wearing now? I’m wearing black leggings and no shoes.

18: What was the last thing you ate? A toasted onion bagel and scrambled eggs

19: What are you listening to right now? The sound of my fan trying (and failing) to keep my room cool. But I will open my blinds on sunny Saturdays regardless of the consequences, thank you very much.

20: If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Midnight Blue

21: Favorite smell? Fresh baked bread

22: Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone? My sister last night. I called her because my roommate told me there was a mix up at her debate competition on Wednesday and she actually came in second place (!). She then proceeded to tell me about historic court cases because she is a nerd.

23: Favourite sport to watch? No.

24: Hair color? Brown

25: Eye color? Brown

26: Do you wear contacts? Yep. I’m blind as a bat, or possibly one of those fish that live in an underground lake and have evolved with no eyes.

28: Scary movies or comedy? Comedy. My imagination needs no encouragement.

29: Last movie you watched? I watched You’ve Got Mail with Kate last weekend. We had been meaning to do so for a while and I needed comfort food(movie) so it worked our great.

33: What book are you currently reading? Baby Proof by Emily Griffin. I got it on sale this summer and finally picked it up last weekend. I have been tragically underwhelmed so it’s taking me a while. Why must every book protagonist be an editor from New York?

35: What is on your mousepad? I use a tiny green cutting mat I had from art school.

36: What is the last TV program you watched? I watched Modern Family while I ate my dinner last night. I realize we’re supposed to be over this show now and that it’s basically the same joke over and over, but that joke makes me laugh so I don’t care.

37: What is the best sound? A quiet summer night.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Sunday 8th January, 2017.

This was my first show since September so to say I was excited was a bit of an understatement. Not even a tube strike was going to bring me down! Anyway, as you’d expect from someone with my username, this is 90% Albus and/or Scorpius. I tried not to describe everything in minute detail because it’s been done a hundred times already (my previous recaps are here), yet this still managed to be 9k+ words long! Fear not, I’ve written this scene by scene so you can skip to the bits you are interested in. Or just because I’m a self aware rambler, you can skip riiiight to the end for the TL;DR bit I did at the end!

ACT ONE

Act One, Scene One [King’s Cross]

Albus and Lily were holding hands and then James pulled Lily in for a big hug but Albus never let go of her hand. The whole thing was really sweet! All three siblings, together and happy!

Act One, Scene Two [Platform Nine and Three-Quarters]

Albus was laughing at Ron as he did the nose joke thing until he noticed people were staring at them. He then stopped and he looked uncomfortable? Annoyed?

Ginny noticed this and turned to him and mouthed, “are you okay?” and Albus nodded yes back to her. I don’t think either of them believed it.

When Albus asked, “what if I’m put in Slytherin?”, everyone laughs. Not in a mean way, but in a ‘don’t be silly, stop worrying about it’ kind of way. Albus is stood at the end, on the far right of the group and is sat on his trunk on the trolley. Harry walked over and crouched down beside him as he spoke. I hadn’t noticed before how the rest of the group are listening. Ron and James clearly found the whole thing amusing. It makes you wonder how long those two had been winding him up about Slytherin.

Albus really lingered today as he said his goodbyes. He kept looking at his mum as he half heartedly pushed his trolley off towards the train.

Act One, Scene Three [The Hogwarts Express]

(Ok, this isn’t play related but I take the train to King’s Cross to get to the theatre and I was sat there on the train, minding my own business, wearing my Hufflepuff scarf, when suddenly from behind me I hear, “Anything from the trolley?”. The fear was real.)

Can we talk about how the first time we see Scorpius, he’s reading a book and sat on top of a trunk that’s been wheeled onto the stage? I love this play. He was playing with the ribbon in his book too. I liked that little detail.

Scorpius never sat still once during his conversation with Rose and Albus. He was mostly trying to curl up his legs enough to fit them onto his seat. He finally succeeded… before feeling the need to change position 0.3 seconds later.

“Father-son issues, I have them” – While Scorpius spoke about his dad, their similarities, their differences, Albus was chuckling to himself. Partly because it was funny, and also because how crazy fortunate is he? To have found someone just like him. In the first carriage too! Staying for the sweets… That would have been a lot more believable if you had actually taken a sweet, Albus!

Act One, Scene Three [The Hogwarts Express]

I don’t talk about James enough but he’s so over the top, the epitome of an annoying sibling. But I love him for it. He’s fun to watch and when Rose says, “and he’s my cousin”, James is stood behind her with his arms raised in the air like he’s cheering. He looked so excited to finally have his brother at Hogwarts.

Scorpius looked resigned about his sorting. He was obviously expecting it so he didn’t look particularly pleased or disappointed. Just kind of ‘meh’ about it as he dragged himself over to stand with the Slytherins.

After Albus’s sorting, Scorpius did his “you can stand with me line” and when Albus reached him he went in for a fist bump. Albus didn’t really return it but Scorpius gave him no choice on the matter.

“Slythering Slytherin, stop with your dithering” – James pulled Albus down into a headlock and the two scuffled for a few seconds. Albus really struggled to push him off. Bless. (This usually happens but I love it so much I wanted to mention it again.)

The difference between the nervous kid who laughed with his family from first year and the angry boy now stood on the platform going into his third year is heartbreaking. His voice is no longer soft and unsure, but harsh and bitter and it makes me sad.

Act One, Scene Six [Harry and Ginny Potter’s House]

I love watching Albus in this scene. He’s in the background sat on the stairs but whenever he gets up and moves further down the steps, he does so so delicately. His movements are very slow and you know he’s making absolutely no noise whatsoever.

When he’s listening to Amos talk harshly about Harry and how Cedric (“my beautiful son, was a spare”), you can see in his body language that those words have registered with him. He tensed his shoulders slightly as he frowned. You could see him pulling it all together in his head. Cedric. Albus. The spare.

Act One, Scene Seven [Albus’s Room]

Another scene where Albus says a thousand words before he even opens his mouth. This is why I’ll never stop singing Sam’s praises.

I’ve spoken about this scene at length before so I don’t want to repeat myself but the second he saw his dad in the doorway, he flinched and turned away from him. We went from sitting cross legged on the bed to sat right on the edge, feet on the floor, shoulders hunched over, head down, and hands wedged under his thighs. When Harry sat down next to him and went to put his arm round him, Albus flinched away again and moved further along the bed away from him.

A little detail I really loved was as Harry spoke, Albus was repeatedly gripping the quilt under his legs. He’s angry, so angry. He didn’t want to be there- no. Sorry. He didn’t want Harry there. He hadn’t exploded yet at this point but you knew it was coming.

Harry and Albus got right up in each others faces as they shouted at each other during those lines. They were nose to nose. At previous shows, I’ve seen Albus flinch, shrink back, and even crumble after Harry tells him he wishes he wasn’t his son. He didn’t do that today. He stood his ground and stared at him. The true extent of his hurt was evident in his voice over the next lines though.

Act One, Scene Ten [The Hogwarts Express]

This boy and his love for bread gives me life. When he’s trying to explain he means “nice bread, good bread” he mimicked breaking apart a baguette and made what can only be described as excitable noises in a French accent. Which probably makes no sense but I don’t know how else to describe it : /

“Ta-da!” – Scorpius waved his robes around and did a little dance. Dork.

The hug was over in a blink of an eye so nothing new to report back on this one today : (

“Hogwarts ahoy!” – Scorpius gave a salute as he said it. Nerd.

During the ‘quiz’, Scorpius was tapping the suitcases in front of him, using his fingers as drumsticks while he bounced along to his own beat. (Seriously, is this boy ever still?)

Albus manhandling Scorpius into sitting down and listening to him was a tad bit forceful. Scorpius didn’t seem too put out. I wonder how many times Albus has had to forcibly move Scorpius to and from places. (I say places, I mean the library.)

Act One, Scene Eleven [The Hogwarts Express Roof]

When the trolley witch threw the pumpkin pasty at them, it knocked them both backwards and left them lying on the roof. Albus was behind Scorpius, with Scorpius leaning against/on Albus’s legs. After the initial shock of the explosion, Scorpius reached back as Albus reached forward and the two held onto each other by the wrist/hand (it was so quick I’m not 100% sure which) to make sure the other was ok.

Act One, Scene Twelve [Ministry of Magic, Grand Meeting Room]

Again, I’ve covered pretty much every single Draco scene before so I won’t go into details again.

…except for one thing. Draco looks bored and while he is listening intently, he wants you to believe he isn’t. But when Hermione mentioned how Harry’s scar is hurting again, Draco kicked the floor. If his stomp didn’t get the attention of the crowd, his booming “Voldemort is dead” certainly did.

Act One, Scene Fourteen [Amos’s Room]

One of my favourite bits from the last show was how Scorpius threw himself in front of Albus when Amos pointed his wand at him. But today Amos never pointed his wand at Albus so Scorpius had no reason to protect him. Sad times.

Act One, Scene Sixteen [Whitehall, Cellar]

“No way, José” - Albus rolled his eyes and laughed at Scorpius.

“We’re doing it… tooogeetherrrrr” – The word ‘together’ was sang in a high voice as he motioned to his face, finger pointed at his glasses and moving around in circles as if we haven’t noticed them on his face. Albus was still laughing. I love how happy he makes Albus.

The actual transformation was absurd. Definitely a thousand times crazier than the last time I saw it back in September. How do I even begin to describe it…

Scorpius sounded like one of those birds that's heard a car alarm and repeats it. Over and over again. Then there was Albus who was making buzzing noises and he was bright red. I was concerned for Sam’s health for a second there. Breathe, damn it!

Harry/Scorpius is having the time of his life as Harry Potter, and Jamie has Anthony’s flailing down to a T. His robes were all over the place. Luckily he managed to untangle himself before needing help!

“Uncle Ron’s got a bit of a gut growing” – Ron/Albus pushed his belly out and bumped it against Harry/Scorpius’s side. Three times. Harry/Scorpius wasn’t prepared for any of them and fell back into Hermione/Delphi. Ron/Albus thought the whole thing was hilarious.

Act One, Scene Seventeen [Ministry of Magic, Meeting Room]

Draco’s voice completely broke part way through “he’s my sole heir”, he had to take a moment with his back turned before repeating the line and carrying on. He put more emphasis on “only family” than he did with “sole heir”. Like that was more important to him. Scorpius is family, not just the next Malfoy, you know? Ugh, all the Malfoy feels.

Act One, Scene Eighteen [Ministry of Magic, Corridor]

“Okay. Hiding places. No hiding places.” –Scorpius/Harry ran around looking for a hiding place even though it’s obvious to all there was none. Then he ran back to Delphi/Hermione and Albus/Ron before announcing there were no hiding places. Literally any excuse to move and this boy takes it.

The stage direction, ‘there’s a small kerfuffle and then Albus/Ron ends up standing outside the door’, does not do it justice. Scorpius is on one side of the door, Albus on the other. You know how in HBP when Harry and Ron fight to get the newer potions book? It reminds me of that (which is quite funny considering it is Harry and Ron we’re seeing). Albus/Ron eventually lost and the door closed on him with only a second to spare for him to spin round and block the door with his robes. The whole thing is rather Scorpius like to be honest :’)

I never realised how often Albus/Ron goes in to kiss Hermione. In the script it’s twice, but on stage he tries four, if not five times. Every time he would close his eyes, lean forward, and pucker his lips ready. It was the funniest thing. But good to know his idea of a distraction is kissing… and BABIES. That will never stop being funny.

Act One, Scene Nineteen [Ministry of Magic, Hermione’s Office]

"And then there’s what your dad said…” – I’ve heard Scorpius/Harry say this line delicately, like he knew the conversation they were about to have was going to be a difficult one. But today he was laughing as he said it. Like he was trying to keep the mood light but he couldn’t not broach the subject. It changed the tone of the scene. I’m not sure which I prefer?

Can I just say, I’ve never seen Jamie so much like Scorpius before? He got his flailing, bounciness, and cloak swishes perfectly. So much love for Jamie Parker, honestly.

You know when Scorpius/Harry starts to read off the books titles? Well he was reading from the top of the bookcase to the bottom and by the time he got to the lower shelves he had dropped to the floor. He sat back on his legs, bouncing slightly, while he looked up at all these restricted books. It was like watching a child in toy shop. He didn’t know which book to pick up first.

When they are searching the bookcase, there are these hands that come out and try and grab them. Well Scorpius/Harry isn’t quite quick enough and ends up getting hit riiight where you don’t want to be hit. This always happens in the show, I know. But today was the only time I’ve seen it acknowledged by the audience. But then he did fully turn to the audience (I’ve only ever seen him face the books or Albus) and hold himself for quite some time to ‘recover’, so you know. It was funny though.

The glorious thing about the end of this scene is Scorpius (who is now played by Anthony again), is no longer wearing his cloak so we get to see him in Harry’s shirt, waistcoat, tie, and glasses. It gives me all the librarian Scorpius feels. Forget Albus, I’m crushing on him.

ACT TWO

Act Two, Scene Four [Edge of the Forbidden Forest]

Albus trying to flirt with Delphi is hilarious. Sorry Albus! You saw him take in her nice words and then he stood differently, readying himself for “then you should stick around – teach me more”. He was trying to be confident but mostly it was just awkward. He wasn’t even looking at her as he spoke. The boy has no game. He’s definitely his father’s son.

Delphi threw Scorpius’s Durmstrang robes at him. Not to him, but at him. They hit him and fell to the ground. Scorpius then bent over, hands on his knees, and looked down at them on the floor for the longest time before eventually picking them up.

Act Two, Scene Five [The Forbidden Forest]

“Albus? Scorpius? Albus?” – This is so insignificant but I’m going to mention it anyway. Today Harry said Scorpius first. Then Albus. (That’s it. For some reason that stuck with me???)

Act Two, Scene Six [Edge of the Forbidden Forest]

I love this scene. It’s one of my favourites to watch. The way Albus, stood a little behind Scorpius, watches him as he explains how despite everything, Hogwarts is still everything he’d dreamed about. The stage direction says Albus looks shocked but I wouldn’t say that. Instead he looked like he was seeing Scorpius in a whole new light. Which if he is, this is definitely the lighting to really see someone in because they’re bathed in this gorgeous orange light. It’s a really warm and soft, like a sunset. It’s stunning. I’d love to have seen this from Albus’s point of view. All he would be able to see is the back of Scorpius, with his head tilted back as he looks up at Hogwarts and talks. It’s a really beautiful moment. Beautiful scene, really.

Until Scorpius said the dreaded two words. Harry. Potter.

Albus scowled at Scorpius’s back. But he looked more sad than angry to be honest. But it’s ok because Scorpius fixed it before he even realised the damage he’d caused.

Oh and I was glad to hear the “boom!” was still being added in before the “thumbs up” :’)

Act Two, Scene Seven [Triwizard Tournament, First Task]

These two nerds were so excited about being there. Albus turned to Scorpius and gave him the biggest, cheesiest grin and Scorpius gave an equally blinding smile back.

After that, Albus spent most of the scene looking forward whereas Scorpius seemed to split his time between watching the first task and Albus.

As if to make up for not looking at him, Albus was super touchy today. He repeatedly and continually reached back for Scorpius to pat his arm, hold his wrist, grab his robes etc. At one point, he put his hand on his back, kind of like a half hug? But once Scorpius moved away, Albus reached blindly back again and this time managed to grab hold of his shoulder. Like I said, this went on and on. I stopped counting at five. (Is it weird that I counted?) It was like he was trying to keep Scorpius focused but also because he himself was so amazed at what was going on in front of him and he needed an anchor. I love these two. Have I mentioned that yet?

“Go go Krazy Krum. Go go Krazy Krum.” – Just before this line, Albus got Scorpius’s attention and the two started to whisper to each other. This chant was obviously his idea. Dork.

I was determined to pay more attention to the ensemble today and one of my favourite bits was during this scene. Two students were pushing each other until Snape stepped toward and they froze and looked at each other for the longest time. You know how Cormac McLaggen and Snape stare at each other after he’s vomited on him in HBP? Like that. I was laughing.

Albus’s Bulgarian accent is bad. Scorpius’s is atrocious.

Both Albus and Scorpius ended up lying on the floor on their fronts when they returned back to the present. Side by side. I’ll take your Floorpius and give you... Floorbus!

Scorpius stood up fully but Albus struggled. He’s in pain. Albus had started to fall forward as the parents arrived on stage. He had one arm holding the other to his chest and if he had continued falling he would have landed flat on his face as none of the adults would have gotten to him in time. Fear not, Scorpius saved the day! He grabbed hold of Albus’s robe in the middle of his back the second he started to fall. He pulled him right back up again and towards him. He then kept his hand on his back they walked off stage.

Act Two, Scene Eight [Hospital Wing]

Albus seemed extra sleepy in this scene today. It was strange (but nice!) not to see him so tense around his dad.

You know when someone is talking to you but you haven’t fully woken up yet? It was just like that. There was no energy in his voice as he spoke to him either. His voice was quiet and soft. Well, until Harry mentioned Scorpius. At first he’s confused but definitely more alert all of a sudden. Then when it becomes clear where this is going, he’s back to his usual angry self and he turned to sit on the edge of the bed facing Harry. Face to face again.

“We were wrong” – I’ve only ever heard Sam say this line in a tone that comes across as him trying to make light of the situation. The audience has always responded with a few laughs. But today! Oh boy, today he said it in such a small, sad voice. No one laughed today. He was sat up by his pillow and looking down at the quilt he was fiddling with in his hands and he looked so tiny and wounded. It kind of made me want to take the quilt and wrap it round him to be honest. The stage direction says Albus is a great liar but I’ve never believed him for one second before. Today it was believable. I genuinely felt he was upset and had wished to start again in the Muggle world.

Act Two, Scene Nine [Hogwarts, Staircases]

When Scorpius heard/saw Albus on the staircase, he ran up taking two steps at a time to get to him faster. But then Albus can’t and he walks off. Scorpius watched after him until he’d completely left the stage. Only then did Scorpius look at Harry. He’d been watching Scorpius the entire time. The two stared at each other for a second or two. Harry never faltered but Scorpius stumbled backwards and luckily caught hold of the hand rail otherwise he would have fallen backwards down the stairs. It looked like he took Harry’s glare as a slap to the face.

Act Two, Scene Fourteen [Hogwarts, Staircases]

“Sounds like he’s found a shoulder to cry on” - Scorpius looked and sounded so bitter when he found out Albus had been owling her. He didn’t even try and hide it.

“I had one of those too. Called Flurry.” – Well, it’s Hector not Flurry of course but he sang it today so it was more like, “Heeectooor”. Dork.

Act Two, Scene Fifteen [Harry and Ginny Potter’s House, Kitchen]

Draco sat at the table, head ducked down, as he chuckled away to himself after finding out Harry does most of the cooking. He was so amused by it. Giggling Draco is my favourite.

Harry is laughing (in like a ‘I can’t believe Draco is giving me advice this is absurd’ kind of way) while Draco is talking. He didn’t stop until Draco got to, “then you’re alone. And being alone – that’s so hard”. You could see those words hitting home for Harry. He began to really listen to what Draco was saying after that.

Act Two, Scene Sixteen [Hogwarts, Library]

I can’t remember exactly which line it was (I think it was “you have to”) but Scorpius took the book Albus was reading and slammed it shut on the desk. Quite forcefully. He really starts to lose his cool with Albus from here on out.

“People look at you because your dad’s the famous Harry Potter” – Scorpius stuttered his way through this line and the next few. Mostly the P’s. “P-p-p-people”. This boy talks a mile a minute so to hear him struggle to get his words out was a testament to just how emotional he was.

“Have you ever tried?” – Scorpius paused but Albus didn’t move or respond but it was obvious he hadn’t. Scorpius looked so hurt. Not surprised, but definitely disappointed to have it confirmed.

Once McGonagall had left, Scorpius sat down with his back facing Albus. When he heard Albus pull up a chair behind him, Scorpius shuffled his chair further away. This hurt Albus. Scorpius stayed facing away, clearly refusing to even look at Albus. Until Albus spoke. His quiet, “I’m sorry”, was so full of emotion that Scorpius didn’t even hesitate before whipping his head round to look at him. Albus had his head ducked down and was holding the bridge of his nose between his fingers. He was visibly upset. Albus didn’t speak for a few seconds while he regained his composure but even then, his voice trembled occasionally afterwards.

Albus paused before “the depths of your belly” line as if he was trying to find the right words. It was clearly important to him that Scorpius knew.

I made a separate post of the hug in this scene so I won’t go into too much detail again. But it was easily my favourite hug of the night, if not ever. Albus pulled Scorpius into a hug and kept him there. He even re-adjusted them at one point and draw Scorpius even closer. It was really sweet because Albus obviously needed it. While Scorpius was being his usual awkwardly flaily self, Albus was quiet, eyes closed, and head nestled in his arms that were wrapped around Scorpius.

Act Two, Scene Sixteen [Hogwarts, Girls’ Bathroom]

“Consider me engorgimpressed” – While Scorpius was half laughing at his own joke, Albus just stared at him with this dead serious look on his face. Like he was judging him? It made Scorpius turn around and walk away as he muttered to himself in horror. He was clearly embarrassed about having said that. The best thing was, Scorpius walked off in the opposite direction to Albus but went round in a big circle so he ended up back in front of the sink where Albus was. Albus never once took his eyes off Scorpius, still looking at him like he’s seconds away from rolling his eyes. (Albus not laughing at any of Scorpius’s puns but Scorpius not letting this stop him from making them up is a thousand times better than Albus laughing at them all.)

“What did you call me? Do I moan? Am I moaning now? Am I? Am I?” – Scorpius shrinks closer to the floor with every question. By the end he’s holding onto the sink but he’s on the floor. But he does this all the time! What was funny today was his quiet but constant stream of “sorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorry” as Myrtle shouted at him.

“I always did have a soft spot for the Potters” – She leaned in close to Albus but he just looked up at her and awkwardly gave her a double thumbs up. Clearly not knowing what else to do or say back to that. So he just smiled and hoped for the best :’)

Ginny marching over to stand by Harry when Myrtle started talking about how handsome he is now = A+

Act Two, Scene Sixteen [Hogwarts, Girls’ Bathroom]

Scorpius was distraught when Albus didn’t emerge from the lake. Just like before, he let out a stream of ‘no’s which he sad so fast they kind of formed one word (“nonononononononono”) as he frantically searched the water : (

While my seat was perfect (middle seat on the front row of the dress circle!), it was absolutely the worst for this scene. The Dementor that flies across the audience was right on top of me. I probably could have reached out and touched it. I know it’s not real (…right?!) but I still kinda froze in my seat and didn’t make eye contact, hoping it would leave me alone. It made the ending waaay more terrifying!

ACT THREE

Act Three, Scene One [Hogwarts, Headmistress’s Office]

The first thing I always notice when we come back for part two is how much Scorpius’s voice has changed. It’s usually high and full of energy, like he can’t get his words out fast enough. But during the Voldemort AU it completely drops and loses all it’s Scorpius-ness. There’s no spark to it, like he’s drained of energy. It did the same when he was arguing in the library with Albus too by the way. It’s so sad…

Act Three, Scene Three [Ministry of Magic, Office of the Head of Magical Law Enforcement]

A couple sobs escaped from Scorpius as he started to hysterically call out his father on what he’d been doing. He kept getting closer and closer until Draco dragged him down onto the desk. I usually hate watching that part (I’m a sensitive soul) but it wasn’t as violent today. Scorpius still did the trapped, wounded animal thing with his legs though so you know, I was still sad. As was Scorpius because you heard an escaped sob as he was being held down. Although once he was free he didn’t bolt across the stage like he was terrified of him like he usually does. He still went, but not quite as fast. He only got two words into his first sentence (“She said that Grandfather…”) before a sob cut him off. He paused before starting again.

Act Three, Scene Four [Hogwarts, Library]

“I hate homework?” – Scorpius looked away from Craig and towards the audience. His face was 80% disbelief and 20% confused. He let his arm/wrist go limp and let the book he was holding fall back onto the book trolley. (I know! Scorpius Malfoy mistreating a book. AGAIN.)

Act Three, Scene Six [Campaign Room]

This scene starts with Floorpius. It’s one of his longest appearances, actually. He’s all starfishing out on the floor while Hermione has one foot on his chest and her wand pointing at his face. He did put his hands up in surrender at one point. But starfishing Floorpius is golden.

Act Three, Scene Seven [Campaign Room]

“I expect their mother is hot” – The way Scorpius enthusiastically nods and is like, ‘ohhh yes’, until he realises he’s stood next to Hermione and abruptly stops is still the funniest thing. The fact that he has the cheek to tease Albus about older women…

Another thing I want to point out is there was a couple little interactions with Scorpius and Ron. In this scene and the next. Scorpius thinks he’s great, you can tell. There were lots of little smiles, laughs, and conversations between the two. This budding friendship continued during the scenes inside St. Jerome’s Church too.

Act Three, Scene Seven [Campaign Room]

When Ron is on the floor in pain, Scorpius instantly got down and reached out to check it. Ron only just managed to bat his hands away in time. He just wanted to help! Ok, so touching it while he was obviously in pain wasn’t one of his best ideas, but it’s the thought that counts. Right?

Act Three, Scene Nine [Edge of the Forbidden Forest]

When Albus re-appeared in the lake, there were sobs, actual sobs, coming from Scorpius. You could see it in his chest movements and hear it in his voice as he spoke. (I nearly cried too because I had literally just written ‘what if Scorpius cried in the lake?’ tags two days ago hahaha)

Then there was the hug! It was a short hug today. Boo. But instead of Scorpius throwing himself on top of Albus and drowning them both, today he lunged forward and wrapped his arms around Albus’s middle and lifted him right up! Albus was laughing and it was SO! CUTE!

“AND IT’S AMAZING” – I love this line. Scorpius was sat up on the edge of the lake, legs still in the water. Or leg. He had one raised out of the water (like he couldn’t decide if he was dancing or cheering with it?) and his arms were also up in the air as they joined in on the shimmy he was doing with the rest of his body. Oh and of course he sang this line, he always does!

“Time to cut the pretence, Albus” – Albus turned to Harry and glared. I mean, really glared. I’m going to talk about this more in the next scene.

I know I’ve said costumes are never something I remember, but in this scene I thought you’d like to know Scorpius is wearing tight black trousers and a shirt. There’s a tie too but he rips that off pretty quickly. Oh and he’s all soaking wet? Anyway… I can’t think as to why I’d remember this particular outfit so clearly. It’s a mystery!

Act Three, Scene Ten [Hogwarts, Headmistress’s Office]

While McGonagall went over all the things they’d done, Albus and Scorpius both had their heads slightly bowed. They’re in trouble and they know it. They then both turned and lifted their heads up as they looked at each other before dropping their heads again. They must have been looking at each other out the corner of their eyes to have been that synchronised. Or maybe they’re just that in tune with each other? This isn’t the first time I’ve seen synchronised Scorbus after all…

“Professor, if I may” – When Harry interrupts, Albus looks back at Harry over his shoulder and that Albus Glare™ comes back in full force. I don’t think my words could do it justice. Five hours of magic and it’s the look on Albus’s face here that my brain can still picture so clearly. Harry is lost in thought, frozen at times, and turned away from Albus so he isn’t even looking at him for most of this scene. But Albus? Albus never looked away. It didn’t even look like he was blinking. In fact, he never moved at all. He stood perfectly still and ignored everything that was happening around him, with the angriest, most intense look I’ve ever seen from Sam. His jaw was tight, his eyebrows down in a scowl. You know the phrase ‘if looks could kill’? That’s how Albus was looking at Harry’s back. I couldn’t look away. I know that look. That’s years worth of resentment. Anger. He looked dangerous. Honestly, I can’t get it out of my head.

Act Three, Scene Ten [Hogwarts, Headmistress’s Office]

“Are you okay, Albus?” – Harry sounded so broken, as was Albus’s delayed little “no” in reply. They both looked so lost and sad. They were hurting each other as much as they were themselves and that really hit home for me in this bit. So naturally, I cried.

Act Three, Scene Fourteen [Hogwarts, Slytherin Dormitory]

So the boys are rolled onto the stage already asleep in their beds so let’s talk about that!

Scorpius is sleeping on his back, face looking up towards the ceiling, arms and legs all out straight and under his duvet. He’s completely tucked in. You know how you swaddle a baby? Wrapping them all up tight, arms and legs in and close to their body? Yeah. He’s like that.

Albus is also sleeping on his back but his duvet isn’t tucked round him. He had his arms rested on top of the duvet too. His head was turned away from Scorpius.

Ok, now I’ve done being creepy, you should know a sleepy Albus is a giggly Albus. It started right from his first line.

Scorpius picked up a bit of fluff and blew it off his finger. I’d heard this was something he’s started doing. It was lovely to see!

My favourite part of this scene was when Albus placed his hands (one on top of the other) on the headboard of his bed (the corner nearest to Scorpius) and rested his chin on them. He sat like that and watched Scorpius ramble on with the loveliest of smiles on his face. It was adorable! The contrast between this and the angry boy in the previous scene is just… I love how happy he is around Scorpius. All that animosity just melts away in his presence and he lights up. (I don’t know if it’s because I maaay be slightly, kind of, overly invested emotionally in Albus… but I lighten up too.)

Scorpius did a couple of little dances (but he usually does) and at one point he laid back down on his bed on his front, head and arms hanging off the end, and sort of just played dead for a while. I don’t know what he was doing but Albus was amused.

“It’s time that time-turning became a thing of the past” – Albus was chuckling to himself, looking down as he shook his head at how much of a dork Scorpius is. Poor boy. You know Scorpius lays there at night thinking of brilliant ones and that’s what Albus has to deal with first thing in the morning. No wonder he looks like he never wants to get out of bed :’)

Act Three, Scene Sixteen [Hogwarts, Owlery]

Every other time I’ve seen it, Scorpius has whispered and drawn out the “Hoooogwaaaaarts” but not today. He just said it normally and meh. I always look forward to that bit and I’d heard he had stopped doing it : (

As always, Scorpius moved closer to Albus to sit side by side with him but today as he did so, he placed his hand on Albus’s lower back and ducked his head down and in a little closer as he spoke to him.

I’ve always seen Scorpius bolt away from Albus when Delphi appears behind them. Today he sort of slid across slowly, dejected. He didn’t really look up at Albus and Delphi too much. Maybe once? Twice?

“They’re sinister-looking black birds” – As she said ‘sinister’ she lent down and got right in Scorpius’s face. Scorpius pulled back away from her as much as he could but he was already up against the railings.

Act Three, Scene Seventeen [Ministry of Magic, Hermione’s Office]

Watching Draco quickly lose his patience as Ron rambles on is brilliant. He started by pulling a face, then he rolled his eyes, then came the huffing and puffing, aaaand then he started to walk towards him but Ginny interrupted him before he reached his destination :’)

Act Three, Scene Nineteen [Hogwarts, Quidditch Pitch]

I’ve seen Albus scream/cry/collapse to the floor while Scorpius is being tortured. Today he remained standing but he kept on stomping his foot. It was child like and even more heartbreaking. He was so distraught. He still never looked at Scorpius while he was being tortured though. He would hide his face in his arms (which are bound together at the wrist in front of him by the way) and turn his head away.

While she was still torturing Scorpius the first time, Albus ran up behind her and raised his locked arms as if to hit her. He never did. She turned and said “what?” and he froze.

I’ve never seen Delphi touch Albus as much as she did in this scene today. She grabbed him by the chin, leaned in and then pushed him away by his face like he was worthless. She did it a few times and each time he would stumble back before righting himself. She also stroked his face, mocking him. I’ve seen/heard Albus try and get away from her when she does this but today he didn’t even try. There wasn’t even so much as a flinch. But then the touching made the whole thing a lot creeper. I can understand why he’d stand his ground more.

Act Three, Scene Twenty [Triwizard Tournament, Maze, 1995]

(I can’t say for definite exactly which line/scene this bit was but I’m 90% sure it was when the boys are lying on the floor after Delphi knocks them down in this scene though.)

So yes, Delphi is using Crucio on Scorpius again and Albus is absolutely racked with pain. He’s screaming and writhing in agony as if he himself is being tortured. It was to such an extent that his legs were twitching with aftershocks long after Scorpius had stilled.

Scorpius in pain and it being his fault (it’s not but that’s what he believes) wrecks Albus in the worst way. It’s like he’s in more pain than Scorpius is.

It’s the same when Delphi actually causes Albus physical pain. Scorpius always recovered quicker from the pain than Albus did. (Or maybe he just hid better? I think he’d hide it from Albus if he felt it would help him.)

Act Three, Scene Twenty-One [St Oswald’s, Delphi’s Room]

“Specialis Revelio!” – Ron is sat on the bed with his back to Draco and he made this half laugh half huff noise to acknowledge how stupid/pointless that was. Draco was not impressed.

On a whole, Draco seemed extra expressive today. Especially around Ron. I really felt his dislike for him. Of course this made Scorpius's growing admiration for him even funnier. ("First a Potter then a Weasley? But not just any Weasley, THE Weasley. You were sent to test me..." "And you'll pass dad! Come on, I said I'd visit the joke shop today!")

ACT FOUR

Act Four, Scene Two [Aviemore Train Station, 1981]

Synchronized Scorbus make another appearance here! After the station master first speaks, both Albus and Scorpius lean in and look up at him in the exact same way at the same time. It was quite comical.

Act Four, Scene Three [Godric’s Hollow, 1981]

“My geekness is a-quivering” - This line has been said differently every time I’ve heard it. Today it was said more passionately like a statement. It was a lot less flaily. Like, “My geekness. Is a-quivering!” Rather than the singsong voice or even the I’m-so-excited-I’m-not-going-to-stop-to-breathe voice he does.

Albus and Scorpius are stood in the doorway next to the Potter house. When James and Lily came out of their house, Albus all but threw himself against the door. He had his back to us as he hid his face. Albus did eventually turn around once James and Lily started to walk away. He started to follow them but Scorpius grabbed him back by his wrist and pulled him back (“They can’t see you, Albus”).

At the very end of the scene, Scorpius held Albus’s wrist again and dragged him off even though Albus was still talking. He had to do a little jog to keep up with Scorpius! (I feel like this happens a lot with these two.)

Act Four, Scene Four [Ministry of Magic, Harry’s Office]

So you know how Harry is perched on his desk crying with his back to the wings from which Draco emerges? Well Draco walked on and took one look at Harry’s slumped shoulders and muffled sobs and he froze as he pulled the most ridiculously awkward face ever. It had me laughing because it was so Scorpius like!

Act Four, Scene Five [Godric’s Hollow, 1981]

Ok, so Albus is crouched down and leaning against one of the door frames. Scorpius is stood and walking round as he talks.

At one point, Scorpius walked over and crouched down next to him and put a hand on his forearm. I can’t remember exactly which line it was but he spoke in a soft tone, like he was comforting him.

The “we send a memory” bit was golden.

S: “We send a memory”

A: [claps or clicks his fingers – can’t remember which now!]

S: “like a Pensieve”

A: [extends his arm and points at Scorpius]

S: [on a roll, half empowered by Albus’s enthusiasm, half excited about his own train of thought] “stand over him and send a message”

A: [starts to frown and brings his arm back down to his side]

S: “hope he reaches for the memory at exactly the right moment”

A: [watches Scorpius with a look of confusion on his face, he clearly believes he has finally snapped because this is not a plan]

During Scorpius’s “HELP. HELP. HELP. HELP” line, Albus just sat there and watched him with a blank expression. By this point he knows it’s not a viable plan but he has no intention of stopping Scorpius. He was probably curious as to how far he was going to take it. He really puts a lot into those HELP’s!

“Not a chance” – Giggly Albus made a return here! In fact, he was shaking his head and chuckling through most of his next lines e.g. “As pleasurable as it will be…”, “No offence…” Again, I love how carefree Albus seems to be with Scorpius. I mean, they’re stuck in time and wandless but not even that stops Albus from being playful with Scorpius.

When Lily left with baby Harry, Albus ended up stood in front of the pram and blocked it for the longest time. He eventually broke out the biggest smile and waved at her. It more sweet than awkward today. I liked it.

When Albus got the idea about the blanket he did another finger snap and point.

Albus was buzzing with excitement about his plan and he quickly grabbed Scorpius by his shoulders so he could share it with him. Scorpius automatically joined in and they’re both bouncing together and then Scorpius just stopped because he literally has no idea what Albus is going on about. But I love how he didn’t care initially. He was excited because Albus was excited. It’s usually Scorpius’s moods that are infectious, it’s good to see Scorpius affected by Albus in the same way.

These two nerds properly freaked out when Bathilda Bagshot’s door swung open. Scorpius had ran over to open it while Albus stood back and watched. The distance didn’t stop the two of them both doing a little victory dance that was fuelled by pure excitement though.

Act Four, Scene Six [Harry and Ginny Potter’s House, Albus’s Room]

There was a very loud, single cheer from one audience member in the stalls today during Harry and Ginny’s kiss. I mean, A+ for enthusiasm and it was hilarious, but it pulled you out of the scene for a second. So on one hand, we all laughed. But then on the other, I disconnected from the end of the scene and didn’t properly take in the last lines. Ugh.

Act Four, Scene Seven [Godric’s Hollow]

The last time I saw it, Draco had looked so excited about the farmers’ market. Today he looked mildly appalled by it. I was a little bit gutted to be honest. I loved his joyful expression last time!

Act Four, Scene Eight [Godric’s Hollow, a Shed, 1981]

“MUM?” – Albus ran to his mum and the two hugged. Harry is stood behind Ginny and he too had his arms stretched out as if to receive a hug from Albus too. When Albus chose to hug his mum first, Harry was left not knowing what to do. So he lowered his arms as if he hadn’t been expecting a hug at all. I felt kinda bad for him.

The Draco and Scorpius hug! I reeeally loved this one today. Draco had his arms out and was totally ready to receive his hug. Scorpius ran across the stage towards him (as per usual) before abruptly stopping in front of Draco, suddenly nervous and unsure (again, this always happens). Draco was still stood there waiting for his hug and even nodded his head and gestured for him to come closer with his hand but still Scorpius didn’t move. He waited until Draco actually said “we can hug too if you like” and then Scorpius flung himself at his dad. Draco actually momentarily lifted him off the ground (just his tiptoes were touching the floor!). Draco obviously wanted to hug him, Scorpius obviously wanted to be hugged, so why did he hesitate?! (You have no idea how hard it is for me in the theatre to keep myself focused at this point. My head is usually pulling me down a Malfoy family feels path that I know once I get on, I’ll never leave.)

But yes, after the hug they didn’t stray too far from each other. Draco seems particularly fond of hair ruffles today. I counted three.

Act Four, Scene Nine [Godric’s Hollow, Church, Sanctuary 1981]

You know what one of my favourite scenes is? This one. This conversation between Harry and Ginny. I love how Harry looks at his beautiful, sleeping son and he wants more than anything to fix things between them but he can’t. He doesn't know how to. He’s so desperate and frustrated by his own guilt that given half the chance I’m sure he would have actually gone out and brought Exploding Snap. (Oh! But what if he actually tries playing it with him later on though? You need to imagine it purely for the eye rolls he’s going to get from Ginny when she walks in on them.) Then there’s Albus. He doesn't move a muscle the entire scene. He's all curled up on the pew with his head resting on a pile of books which he somehow makes look comfortable. It's a testament to how exhausted he must be. Poor kid, indeed.

Act Four, Scene Ten [Godric’s Hollow, Church, Sanctuary 1981]

The transition between this scene and the last is down in slow motion. I’m embarrassed to tell you know much joy I get out of seeing Scorpius tucking his hair behind his ear in slow motion.

Aaaanyway…

“The history books – correct me if I’m wrong, Scorpius” – I love how Albus is stood in a room full of people who know more about Voldemort than any of the history books do, but Albus singles out Scorpius for the answer. I mean, his dad was literally there but he asks Scorpius for confirmation.

“Blimey! There are two of them!” – Scorpius looked so happy at that comment. No, compliment. That’s how he took it.

Scorpius stood up, finger pointing in the air, as he spoke and seemed to offer himself for the job of Voldemort. He quickly sat back down and shut up when Draco cut him off. He instantly turned to watch Albus as he spoke up right after him.

Scorpius kept looking up at Albus and smiling at him during and after his “trust my dad, Draco” line.

You know what I didn’t like? At the end of scene, Harry/Voldemort walked out through the door but on his way he passes right next to Scorpius. For a second there I panicked because even know it’s not actually Voldemort, I still didn’t want him anywhere near him. Scorpius didn’t seem affected by it though. It was just me being overly protective. (I’d REALLY love to see Draco pull Scorpius away in this scene. Or put himself between them? Again, I know it’s not really Voldemort but I’d still like to see Draco see ‘Voldemort’ and instinctively want to protect his son. Just a thought!)

Act Four, Scene Eleven [Godric’s Hollow, Church, 1981]

The first thing you should know is that @torestoreamends and her fic is to blame for my excessive tears in this scene today. Watching this and reading that on the same day = the worst of worst ideas.

Again, not a comment on the performance but I love how Albus is the smallest of the group and the only one small enough to fit through the grate! Tiiiiiny Albus ♥︎

Once Albus had unlocked the first door, he knelt down behind a crouched Harry and clung onto his back. The two never parted. Albus cast the second spell from behind the safety of his dad’s back. Harry never even got up and moved closer to Delphi until she fell and it was safe for him to leave Albus. I’ve never seen it played out like that before and I really loved it. Harry kept one arm out to shield his son and honestly, that’s how I see Harry as a father. He’d die before letting anything happen to his son. His family.

Once Harry had stood up and left, Scorpius saw his opportunity and all but pounced onto Albus’s back. (Albus was still crouched down but Scorpius was a little taller as he was only knelt down on one knee behind him.)

Act Four, Scene Twelve [Godric’s Hollow, 1981]

Draco kept stroking his son’s hair. In fact, he did every time he hugged him. Bless.

Throughout this scene, Draco would look down at Scorpius and the second it got too much for Scorpius and he started to struggle watching, Draco put his hand round the other side of Scorpius’s head and pulled him closer and against his chest. He stood there and stroking his hair as Scorpius rested his hand on his dad’s chest. By this point I completely forgot there were other people on the stage because I was drowning in my tears Malfoy family feels.

It was Harry’s screams that drew me back. Both he and Albus looked/acted/sounded like they were being tortured. It’s painful to watch, honestly. Harry completely collapsed to the floor, writhing in agony, and Albus hadn’t let go. He still held onto Harry’s arm so it was bent up and backwards. It must have hurt but their need for each other was greater. Oh dear, ALL the family feels!

Act Four, Scene Fourteen [Hogwarts, Classroom]

It happened! It finally happened! I saw my first nose boop! Albus booped Scorpius on the nose because let’s face it, he’s an adorable little munchkin and honestly I don’t know how he resisted for that long.

Rose was… interesting. When Scorpius saw her, he did his usual twirl, robes up in the air and tangled around him, before half falling down the stairs. Today he ended up holding onto the bannister behind him with one hand, with a foot on one step and the other foot two (if not three) steps below. He was sat sideward on the stairs so he was essentially sat there with his legs wide apart. Seriously now. This boy is the definition of awkward.

Anyway, he froze when Rose (oh accidental rhyme) got close. She then kept getting closer and closer until their faces were inches apart and she stayed there for a second or two. It was weird, everyone was still and silent and the whole thing lasted uncomfortably long. I seriously thought she was going to kiss him, as did Scorpius, I’m sure. She then pulled back and did this evil Umbridge laugh. Don’t get me wrong, I like Rose, but this was cruel and I really felt bad for him. I hadn’t seen her play with him like that before and to be honest it left me feeling icky. Not because it’s a Scorbus/Scorose thing, but because she knew what she was doing, what it would do to Scorpius, and did it anyway. I know she was only teasing him but still. Not cool.

But at least Scorpius went straight back to being his happy, awkward self once she’d left and it was just him and Albus again.

Remember that one member of the audience I told you about that cheered all by themselves during the Harry/Ginny kiss? Well they made a re-appearance during this Scorbus hug. I’ve heard the audience ‘aww’ before as they’ve hugged but they were pretty quiet tonight during this one. Apparently this wasn’t good enough for this individual and they let out a rather loud ‘wooo!’ mid hug. Again, it was hilarious but it pulled my focus from the scene! But I swear the hug lasted a little longer than it usually does so maybe, my fellow avid shipper, I can forgive you.

Act Four, Scene Fifteen [A Beautiful Hill]

Random observation but Albus often leans in when he talks to Scorpius. He hunches his shoulders and ducks his head, like he's trying to create their own space between them. As if what they’re sharing is a secret. Whereas with Harry, he lifts his chin up and tenses his body. Except in this scene. A couple of times Albus spoke to Harry like he would Scorpius. I know they haven’t fixed things between them yet but they’ve started. To see Albus happy and comfortable enough to tease his dad in such a playful manner makes me SO happy.

TL;DR

Draco ruffled his son’s hair a billion times.

Albus was in more pain than Scorpius was while Delphi was using Crucio on him. Scorpius hurting because of him crushes Albus in the worst kind of way.

They held each other by the wrist four times and it was the sweetest thing!!!

Albus/Ron belly bumping Scorpius/Harry. Dork.

Albus seems to have taken on even more of Scorpius’s little mannerisms (e.g. finger guns) which I love because after three years of living with your best friend you would take on and use some of their words/actions.

Floorpius. So much Floorpius…

Albus kept looking at Scorpius with disbelief on his face as he smiled and shook his head at how completely absurd he is. He thinks he’s ridiculous, and he loves him for it.

Scorpius going in for a fist bump. Albus was confused. Scorpius was insistent.

Nose boop! There was only one but it was the first one I’d seen so it was lovely!
