Swap - Jessie Fleming/Reader
just a little something for you guys that i've had an idea about for way too long (thank the USWNT v Canada game for this cause it made me remember how much i love Jessie)
prompt: Jessie and R have a long standing tradition of trading jerseys, but someone gets in the way of that.
warnings: none

Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I grinned as I found Jessie in the crowd. I knew that the game didn’t actually end the way either of us wanted, but at least neither of us could be that upset since we didn’t lose.
“Swap with me?”
My eyes darted away from where they had locked onto Jessie to turn to Eriksson. I tilted my head in confusion. I had never actually talked to Eriksson before other than some light trash talk on the field.
“You want my jersey?”
Eriksson softly chuckled but nodded.
One of the best centerbacks in the game wanted my jersey.
It was still surreal that there were other players out there who would seek me out to get my jersey.
“Well, I feel like it would be fitting considering how much trouble you give me during these derby games and when you play against Sweden.”
“Oh.”
I still didn’t make a move to take my jersey off though. My eyes darted to where Jessie was talking to a couple of her teammates.
“So, how many of her jerseys do you have, and you still haven’t told her how you feel?”
My eyes snapped back to where Eriksson was standing. She was watching me, but I knew that she was aware of who I was staring at.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged as I ducked my head. It honestly was too high of a number to count now. We had gotten into the habit of trading our jerseys at least once a year when we played each other, and, honestly, even when we didn’t play against each other nationally, we still saved each other a jersey from the year. “We just kind of started as teenagers and never stopped. It’s our little tradition now when we play each other the first time of the year to swap.”
“How about this,” Eriksson started, causing me to look over at her, “you go tell Jessie how you actually feel about her, and I’ll wait until the next time we play to swap with you.”
I huffed a little at that. It wasn’t that I didn’t mind telling the world about Jessie and me, but Jessie was such a private person that I didn’t mind keeping our relationship from the world. Besides, our family and most of our friends knew.
Well, at least most of my friends knew. If Jessie’s captain didn’t even know then I wasn’t sure who all on her club team knew. I didn’t even know if any of them knew.
“I’d much rather just break tradition.”
Eriksson raised her eyebrows at that.
It wasn’t often that I would turn down a challenge. But if Jessie’s own teammates didn’t know, then I definitely didn’t want to risk them and the fans finding out about our relationship because I took Eriksson’s challenge.
“Didn’t think it was like you to turn down a challenge.”
“Not usually, no,” I said as I tugged my jersey over my head. “But there are some things that are better left the way they are. My friendship with Jessie isn’t one I’m going to risk for a jersey.”
“Wouldn’t she be more upset that you’re not trading with her?”
I shrugged at that. Jessie probably would be upset with me initially, but I figured she would probably get over it pretty quickly since I knew neither of us would be required to go in tomorrow. We always had the day after derbies off.
“I’ll trade with her next derby. And maybe you could convince Harder to trade with me the game after that?”
“I’ll mention it to Pernille.”
I grinned at that as Eriksson finally pulled her own jersey off. I had been wanting to trade with Pernille Harder for quite some time, but I never had gathered the courage to ask the forward I looked up to. I handed mine over to her as she handed her jersey to me. I wasn’t surprised either when we were asked to pose for a picture with each other.
Once the picture was over, I shook hands with Eriksson.
“You should still tell her,” Eriksson said as she pulled me closer to her. “I think you might be surprised with how she feels about you too.”
“We’ll see.”
Eriksson gave me a pat on the back before she was off towards Harder. I sighed as I shook my head. I turned to try and find Jessie; I wasn’t surprised to find her still with Nimah as they talked with Lotte and Leah. I grinned as I weaseled my way in between Leah and Jessie, but it dropped a bit as Jessie’s eyes darted down to the jersey in my hands before looking at me.
I didn’t pay too much attention to the conversation that the three English players were having as it was obviously more about their next camp. I nudged Jessie before nodding my head towards the tunnels.
Jessie glanced at Nimah before she nodded. I smiled a bit wider at that as the two of us split off with waves to our respective teammates. Jessie stayed quiet as the two of us headed toward the tunnel.
“So, my place or yours?” I asked. Jessie tilted her head to the side as she looked at me. “Well, normally the winner takes the loser home, but we drew.”
Jessie slowly nodded at that.
“Didn’t realize you still wanted to come home with me.”
My brow furrowed at that. I had no real idea why Jessie would think that I didn’t want to go home with her.
“Considering you swapped your jersey with someone else. Thought you of all people would keep with tradition.”
“That’s not fair.”
“You swapped with someone else.”
I rolled my eyes at that.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me.”
I huffed because I was sure that we were attracting quite a bit of unwanted attention from fans. I grabbed onto Jessie’s arm as I dragged her into the tunnel finally before heading toward a more secluded area of the Emirates.
“Look, I did it for you.”
“Doing it for me would have been swapping with me.”
“Are you jealous?”
Jessie scoffed at that as she began to shake her head.
“You are!”
“Am not!”
“Are so!”
“You can sleep on the couch then.”
I rolled my eyes at that. I knew that Jessie wouldn’t actually make me sleep on the couch, especially since we hadn’t been able to spend time with each other in the same place since the winter break. Facetime and phone calls only went so far.
“She wanted me to tell you how I felt,” I admitted. Jessie raised an eyebrow at that. “Eriksson. I told her it was tradition for us to switch jerseys and she told me that I could switch with you if I told you how I felt. I didn’t want to put you in the spot where you either had to out our relationship to your teammates if you haven’t told them or where you had to act like you rejected me. I know you want to keep us private from the public eye. So, I figured I could just swap with Eriksson this time and we’ll swap next time.”
“I get it the next time though,” Jessie said as she poked at my chest, “and I guess you can sleep in the bed with me since you did it to make sure that our relationship stayed out of the public eye.”
I grinned at that.
“Does that mean I finally get my kiss from you?”

virgin no more - a vinnie hacker smut
a/n: requested by anon; lowercase intended
cw: softdom!vinnie, sub!reader, praise kink, pussy eating, vanilla sex, soft sex, creampie, smut. this is an nsfw short, everything written is fictional. interact or don't, i'm not your mother
summary: you lose your virginity to your best friend vinnie
Tumblr media
i’ve been thinking about it for so long and i feel that this time, it’s right. for years now, i’ve been a virgin. sure, i’ve had my fair share of kisses and makeout sessions in my past relationships, but i’ve never had sex with my past partners. one, i wasn’t ready and two, i’m terrified of losing it to someone i don’t trust with my heart and soul. but lately, i’ve been having thoughts about losing it to my best friend vinnie. vinnie and i have been best friends since his high school days in seattle. we both moved to la when he blew up on tiktok and now we’re both living in his new recently brought apartment.
it’s not my fault though! have you seen the man?! from his chiseled jawline to his perfectly sculpted god-like body that has been carved by the angels in heaven, he’s just simply irresistible. not only that, his personality is truly one of a kind. the sweetest, most caring human being on planet earth who wears his heart on his sleeve. the only problem is, he’s my best friend and i’m scared that he may not feel the same way that i feel about him. what if I ruin my friendship with him? that would be super awkward and embarrassing. then again, he hasn’t ruined our friendship every time he brings a girl home and fucks her senseless that she basically stumbles out of the house the next morning.
after taking the time to build up some courage, i decide it’s time.
“hey, vin. can i ask you something?”
“of course, what’s up?”
“this may be super awkward and embarrassing and you don’t have to answer, but what’s it like not being a virgin?”
“woah, um. it’s great, i guess. why you asking?”
“i guess what i’m trying to say is that i’m ready to lose my virginity.”
“that’s great, go for it!”
“i want to lose it to you.”
the silence in the room is so thick, you wouldn’t be able to cut it with a knife. vinnie and i sit opposite each other, our minds racing over what just transpired. great, i just ruined the most amazing friendship i could ever ask for.
“you want me to take your virginity?”
“yes. i trust you with my whole life. and i love you so much.”
“i love you so much. can i please kiss you?”
“please.”
he slowly leans in to capture my lips in one of the most passionate kisses i’ve ever had. the kiss is soft yet so hot. i feel him tug at the bottom of my shirt, wanting to take it off. i reach down to take it off my body, his eyes zoned in on my chest. his kisses move to my chest, kissing the tops of my tits before making his way down my cleavage. i unclasp my bra and remove it, letting it drop to the floor.
“they’re so pretty, oh my god. can i please touch?”
“of course, vin. they’re all yours.” i smile at him.
vinnie groans before using his big, strong hands to grope at my tits. squeezing, massaging, licking, sucking and biting, all of these combined had me weak in the knees. he’s making me feel so good right now, and we haven’t even had sex! i drop to my knees in front of him, the feeling of being so aroused is making me dizzy. my eyes are level with vinnie’s growing bulge. he looks big, is he going to fit? oh my lord, he’s not going to fit. i start pulling down his sweats, wanting to desperately see what he’s hiding. i release him from the confines of his underwear. jesus christ, he’s not fitting. there’s no way that all of THAT is going to fit inside.
“like what you see, princess?” he smirks.
“yeah i do. it’s so… big.”
“as much as i want your mouth around it, tonight’s about you.”
he grabs me by the back of my thigh, scooping me up into his arms. he gently throws me onto our bed before crawling up to me and placing a sweet kiss on my lips. he moves down my body, stopping at my panties. he looks up at me, a cute yet seductive smile plastered on his face.
“can i take these off, sweetheart? wanna see what i’m working with.”
“yes.” i breathe out, my heart racing and head spinning
he slowly removes my panties, gasping at the sight in front of him. he tosses my panties to the side before licking a stripe up my pussy with his tongue, earning a moan from me. i feel his tongue suck and lick at my clit, the feeling of pleasure rushing through my veins.
“you okay, sweetheart?”
“yes, please keep going. it feels unreal.”
vinnie continues his actions, only this time, he speeds them up. my little bundle of nerves that have never been touched by a man before are so alive and so sensitive, i can barely form any words now. i suddenly feel a tightness in my stomach. is this what i think it is?
“vinnie, i-“
“you close, baby?”
“i don’t know. my stomach hurts though.”
“you’re close to having an orgasm. want me to keep going?”
“yes! please don’t stop! i need to know what it feels like.”
vinnie sucks and licks my clit a little more before i feel a strange rush through my body. my legs shake at the intense pleasure, my stomach contorts and my pussy clenches at fresh air. my breathing is rapid but is soon calm as he slowly stops his actions.
“you did such a good job, baby. i’m so proud of you. you ready for my cock now?”
“i think so.”
“if it hurts, we’ll stop okay? i promise to go slow and make you feel good.”
“okay.”
vinnie lubes his cock up and jerks it for a bit before aligning it at my entrance. he slowly pushes in, the pain almost unbearable.
“want me to stop?”
“no, i’m okay. you can keep going.”
he pushes himself all the way in, bottoming out when he’s fully inside. we both moan at the feeling. i slightly adjust to make sure it fits and won’t destroy me. i nod my head, signalling to vinnie to move. he starts to slowly rock in and out of my pussy. the pain instantly becomes pleasure again as he fucks my walls. i wrap my legs around his waist, pushing him closer to me. he leans over, hovering over my figure before placing a kiss to my forehead.
“oh vin, you feel so good. i love you.”
“i love you more, sweetheart. god, i’m so glad you chose to lose your vigirnity to me.”
our lips connect in a passionate kiss. vinnie wraps his arms around my back, holding me close so that our chests are touching. he continues rocking into me and making me feel oh so good. i feel that strange rush coming back again, this time it’s stronger and right on the edge.
“oh vin, i’m close.”
“yeah? cum for me, pretty girl, cum on my cock for me.”
vinnie thrusts one last time and i feel all the same sensations from when he ate me out.
“oh fuck, pretty girl. you did so good, i’m gonna cum now okay?”
“please cum inside me, vincent. i need you so bad.”
vinnie moans at my words and it doesn’t take him long before he’s shooting ropes up and around my walls. i moan and whimper at the warmth inside me, watching it as it slowly leaks out. he pulls out and flops on the other side of the bed.
“that was amazing. you’re seriously the best.”
“glad you enjoyed, princess. now let’s get you cleaned up, shall we?”
he kisses my lips before scooping me up into his arms as we go to clean up our mess. i can now say that i’m a virgin no more and that my virginity has been taken by the one and only vinnie hacker.

Love Thy Neighbor- pt 4
Summary: the aftermath, and your first day of work. good lord.
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3.
WC: ~4.15k
Tumblr media
You kiss her back- of course you do. You would be an idiot to pretend that you weren’t attracted to your neighbor turned coworker.
But as soon as you pull away, there’s a look of panic written on your face. “Uh-”
“I- I’m sorry,” the redhead apologizes quickly. “I don’t know what came over me.”
“No. No,” you state. “Don’t apologize. I just, uh…” you turn bright red, nearly as red as the woman’s hair next to you.
She stands awkwardly.
“No,” you sigh. “I- I liked that.”
She sits back down and looks you in the eye. “Oh?”
“Yeah,” you admit quietly. “I did… I just-“ you purse your lips, trying to figure out how to say this without ruining everything that you have going on right now.
“Just say what you’re thinkin’, hun,” Melissa encourages gently.
“I don’t want to ruin our friendship,” you say softly as you evade her eye contact.
“You won’t,” she promises, laying a warm hand over yours.
You suck in a breath before spilling out, “I’ve always thought you were beautiful, but I- I just divorced my husband, I have Ellie to worry about and look after, we’re coworkers now! I- this is all so complicated. I just don’t think now is a great time, and maybe not… maybe not ever.”
Those green eyes look at you with such an understanding that it hurts you- it pains you so much to not be able to give into what you so desperately want to do. You want to be selfish and pull the redhead into your bedroom, tell her that even though you’ve only known her for a short time, she makes you feel more than Jared ever had. But you can’t- because you know there are too many risks involved with this woman, and you do not want to lose a good friend, coworker, and someone that your daughter trusts and loves.
“I understand, hun,” Melissa tells you softly. “I do. It’s okay.”
“Melissa,” you sigh quietly. You stare at your hands, one of hers on top. “I am so-”
“Don’t apologize,” she instructs gently, yet also somehow sternly. “I will not hear it.”
You nod hesitantly before looking into her striking emerald eyes with tear filled eyes of your own.
“Hey,” she says gently. “Don’t cry. There’s no need to cry. We’re okay. I promise.” She tugs you in, allowing you fall into her arms. You cling to her, the perfume that she’s wearing surrounding you.
After a few seconds, you pull back. “Thank you.”
“For what?” she asks. “I didn’t do nothin’.”
“For-” you bite your bottom lip nervously. “For helping out when I need it, and for being there for Ellie, and for helping me get a job, and for… being so understanding about all of this.”
“Of course,” she smiles softly, patting your arm. “I’ll always be here to help in any way I can.” She stands. “I guess I should head back over to my place- school tomorrow.”
“I guess,” you shrug. “Or… you could stay for a little longer? Have another glass and keep watching the movie with me?”
It’s clear that you don’t want to be alone right now.
“You okay?” she asks as she sits back down and wraps an arm around you. She chuckles. “I promise I’m not trying to make any more moves on you- just trying to provide comfort. Barb is a lot better at it than I am.”
“You’re not doing too bad,” you give a choked out laugh, tears still in your eyes. “Y-yeah, I’ll be okay. Just a bit overwhelmed with this new life… missing my old one. The divorce is still pretty raw too.”
“I know that feeling,” she sighs. “My ex-husband and I divorced years ago, and sometimes it still haunts me. So, know that you aren’t alone in those feelings.”
You nod and relax into the couch cushion.
The two of you sit quietly, thoughtfully and neither of you watching the screen in front of you, before she really does have to go get to bed if she’s going to be a functional teacher tomorrow.
You see her out, thanking her again, before sighing. You close the door gently before leaning up against it. Deciding that you still don’t want to be alone, you go to Ellie’s room. She’s fast asleep surrounded by her stuffed animals, but she’s clutching something in her arms.
You gently arrange her so that you can see what she’s- she’s holding onto a picture of you, her, and your ex-husband. Jared has an arm wrapped around you, his smile is bright. You have Ellie on your hip, and she’s giggling at something that he had said to make her laugh for the picture. You have a clear look of love in your eyes as you look down on your sweet little girl.
Those times were… so good. Simple. Full of what you thought was love. If only you had known he was sleeping around with Sharon, and Sarah, and Heather, and Autumn, and… whoever the hell else he was before finally deciding to dedicate most of his time to Jen and not you.
You wipe the tears that have rolled down your cheek with the back of your hand before you simply curl up next to your daughter and hold her as you try to ground yourself. You fall asleep. holding her protectively- as if you could shield her from all of the terrible things that happen in the world. She snuggles into your body, smiling in her sleep and letting out a soft hum.
The next morning, Ellie is jumping on your chest to wake you up at the ass crack of dawn.
“Momma, momma, momma!” she shakes you.
You groan, keeping your eyes closed. “Momma’s sleeping, baby.”
“No you’re not! I’m hungry, and I wanna go to school!”
You open one eye, just barely, to see that beautiful girl of yours. You turn your head to look at the unicorn alarm clock on her pink bedside table. Next to it is the picture of your torn apart family, and your heart hurts for just a second before you see the time: 5:30.
“Elizabeth, it’s too early to be awake,” you groan as you pull her from off of you and gently set her next to you. You pull her in close to your chest. “Go back to sleep, baby girl.”
“But I’m wide awake!” she tells you.
“And I am not,” you chuckle. “Lay with me until the clock says six, and then we can talk about breakfast and getting up.”
Your daughter sighs, but she does relax against you. You hold her tight, reveling in the fact that while everything has been turned upside down in your world, Ellie is your one constant. You have your little girl- she’s all yours, and you’re going to do everything you can for her.
The next time you wake up, you’re slamming your fist on the alarm clock, turning it off. Ellie is fast asleep on your chest, the smallest droplet of drool falling from her mouth.
“Ellie Belly,” you jostle her gently. “It’s time to wake up for school, my love.”
Her little head pops up, and you chuckle at her wild bedhead. “Mrs. Howard?”
“Yes, my love,” you smile. “It’s time to start getting ready to go see Mrs. Howard.”
She uses you as a launch pad to jump up, and you let out a small groan. She’s opening her closet to pick out her outfit before you can even sit up.
You get her ready before starting on breakfast and getting yourself at least somewhat presentable for the day. You know you’re going to head into the school to set up your new room before you start to DoorDash. You should look at least somewhat professional entering the school.
As you shuffle your daughter out the door, you’re met with the redhead.
“Hey,” she smiles at the two of you, sunglasses already over her eyes.
“Miss Mel!” Ellie absolutely lights up. “Are you gonna take me to school again today?”
“Not today, little love,” you tut softly. “Momma’s gonna bring you. We’re gonna take the bike.”
The redhead frowns. “When are you getting your car out here?”
“Not for another few weeks,” you sigh.
“I can give the two of you a lift if you want,” Melissa tells you. “I really don’t mind.”
“Oh, I have to get back home somehow,” you chuckle nervously.
“You can bring my car back, so long as you promise to pick us back up at the end of the day,” the woman counters.
You bite your lip, hesitant to accept her offer to help. But Ellie is looking up at you with pleading eyes. So you nod before opening your front door back up and grabbing the booster seat for her.
You get Ellie settled in the car before climbing into the passenger seat. “Thank you.”
She just smiles at you as she pulls out of the parking garage and onto the busy streets of center city Philadelphia.
She hums softly to the music that is coming from the speakers before turning and asking you, “Any big plans for the day?”
You shrug. “I’ll probably be biking back and forth today with the supplies from the storage locker for my new room.”
“Use my car for the day,” she tells you without any sort of hesitation. “Less trips, more time to set up.”
“I- I couldn’t ask that of you.”
“You didn’t,” she chuckles. “I’m offering to help.”
“I’m paying you for gas,” you tell her, hitting her with a look that leaves no room for argument.
“No you ain’t,” your coworker laughs. “Just make dinner again sometime soon, and we’ll call it even.”
“I like it more when you cook, Miss Mel,” Ellie makes her thoughts very clear.
You roll your eyes at that comment and look back at her. She’s giving you the most innocent little smile, and your heart melts. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
Melissa pulls into a spot in the parking lot before grabbing her bags. “C’mon. I’ll show you where your room is.”
It happens to be the room right next to hers. You glance around, and you can make this work. It just needs some brightening up.
“Ellie,” the redhead says softly, gathering the attention of your daughter. “Your momma has to get going, and Miss Mel is gonna head into the teacher’s lounge for some coffee and morning news. You coming?”
Your daughter nods excitedly. “Can I bring my book?”
“Of course,” the second grade teacher smiles softly. “Say goodbye to your momma though first.”
Ellie bounces over to you and flings herself into you. You chuckle, crouching down to her level before hugging her tightly. You release her, and Melissa plants her car keys in your hands.
“Seriously,” you say softly. “Thank you. I’ll be making my poppyseed chicken tonight if you want to join us.”
She nods. “I’ll bring the wine.”
You spend most of your day heading back and forth between the storage locker that has your teaching supplies and the school. You have a thin sheen of sweat dousing your brow by the time the school bell rings to signify that the day is over, but your classroom looks great. It’s bright and full of positivity, and you couldn’t be more satisfied with the progress that you had made.
You gather your purse and a few things that you won’t be needing before heading outside to gather your girl in your arms.
“Momma!” Ellie catches sight of you before you can make your way out the door. She’s holding onto Melissa’s hand tightly with a grin on her face.
You open your arms up wide for her, and she drops your neighbors hand to come running into your arms. “Hi, my love. Did you have a good day at school?”
She nods enthusiastically before looking back at Melissa. “Mrs. Howard let me sneak into the secret room to give her a hug again. I love Miss Mel.”
“I know you do,” you chuckle.
“Can I be her helper while we wait for her to go home?” your daughter requests softly. “She needs help making sure everyone gets to their people.”
“If that’s okay with Miss Mel,” you chuckle.
Ellie walks on her toes back over to the redhead and tugs gently on her sleeve. She asks before raising her arms up for Melissa to pick her up. Of course, your neighbor obliges with a smile. Ellie wraps her arms around her neck and lays her head on the leather jacket gently.
You can’t help but smile as you watch the two of them together. Ellie is so comfortable with Melissa, and it makes your heart so happy to see that she’s content with someone besides you- she had always been a bit more hesitant around new adults. But Melissa had swooped right in and made her way into Ellie’s heart. You know that Melissa has a special place in your daughter’s heart too.
Dismissal is over, and you follow Melissa back into the school for her to gather her things, Ellie still on the redhead’s hip slumped over and clearly asleep.
You offer to take Ellie off her hands for her.
“I got her,” Melissa smiles, holding Ellie with such tender love and care.
You chuckle. “Are you sure? I know she gets heavy after a while, and you’ve been holding her for the past twenty minutes.”
“I got her,” the redhead is adamant as she grabs her purse and slings it over her other shoulder. “How’s your room coming along? Mind if I sneak in and take a look?”
You nod, although you’re nervous. You hope she finds it to be suitable. She walks in and her eyes go wide.
“Wow, Y/N,” she says softly. “This looks incredible. The kids are going to love it.”
You blush and mumble a thanks before following her out the door to head to her car. Melissa puts Ellie in the car and buckles her in with a soft chuckle. She moves the stray hairs out of her face before closing the door gently. You hand her the keys that she puts her hand out for before climbing into the car.
The ride home is peaceful. She tells you what some of your future students are up to, and she explains that they are more than excited to meet you. That makes you smile- although you hope you can live up to the hype.
When you get home, Ellie is awake and feeling refreshed from her nap. She’s immediately asking if she can help you make dinner for her favorite person. You allow her to mix the sauce together, and you can’t help the chuckle you let out when she steals a taste.
“My silly girl,” you say softly. She’s growing up before your eyes.
“Can I go get Miss Mel?!” she asks.
You roll your eyes playfully. “I think someone has a new favorite person… and it isn’t Momma! How rude!”
“No! No!” Ellie is quick to hug you tightly. “You’re my favoritest person in the whole wide world! Miss Mel is just my second favoritest person.”
You squeeze her right back. “That’s so kind of you to say. Go ahead… get Mel.”
She runs off, and you take a deep breath to collect yourself. Hearing that you were her favorite person in the world- it melts your heart. But you also remember a time where a five year old Ellie would proudly announce that Momma and Daddy were her two favorite people in the world. Now it’s just you.
A stray tear falls down your face, and you’re quick to wipe it away when you hear the front door open again.
“-And I helped Momma make it!” Ellie finishes her sentence as she drags Melissa into your kitchen.
You quickly wipe away the second tear that makes its way down your cheek before turning around with a broad smile on your face. Melissa sees right through your act though, and she gives you a questioning look. You silently shake your head, indicating that you’re fine. She doesn’t believe you and mouths that you’ll talk about it later.
Ellie launches herself up at you, and you’re quick to hold her close to you, peppering her cheeks with the kisses that she deserves. “Little miss was the best co-chef,” you let out a thick chuckle.
Dinner goes on as it usually does, and then the three of you settle on the couch. Ellie watches the usual cartoon that she loves in Melissa’s lap before she’s dozing off. You suppose that her nap only kept her refreshed for a bit.
The redhead looks down and laughs softly, rubbing Ellie’s back soothingly. “She was exhausted after recess today… told me all about the crazy game of tag she was playing with her classmates.”
“Sounds like my little girl,” you say as you settle your gaze on your sweet girl. “At least she’ll sleep through the night.”
“She doesn’t let you sleep?” the woman laughs as she looks down again.
“She uses the bathroom at least three times a night most nights… and every time, she bellows for me- poor thing is scared of the dark,” you sigh. “Even with all of the nightlights we have around. And then she’s up at the ass crack of dawn.”
“Sounds like a six year old,” Melissa laughs. “Well, I guess I should get going. School tomorrow and everything.”
You nod and take Ellie off of her. Your little girl scrunches her nose in her sleep, and you pray she doesn’t wake up. If she does, it’ll be at least another twenty minutes before your neighbor can leave for the night. Thankfully, she settles into your hold, clinging to your shirt.
“Goodnight, Mel,” you say softly. “Thank you again for helping us out today.”
“Have her ready to go at the same time tomorrow,” Melissa instructs. “I’ll take her in while you do whatever you have to get done tomorrow.” You go to protest. “And I will not be taking no for an answer.”
You close your eyes and huff. “Okay.”
The next few days continue on the same way, with Melissa taking you and Ellie to and from the school. It’s very kind of her to do. The three of you have meals together, and you and Melissa have started cooking together.
On Friday, you finish your DoorDashing shift a bit early, bike your way back to the apartment complex, and pick up Melissa’s car. You grab the things that you want to place on the desks before heading out. You pull in and get buzzed into the school.
The secretary smiles as she sees you, handing you the badge that they’ve been promising you the entire week, and you head down to your classroom.
You set the little trinkets on the desks for your students and then head over to Melissa’s room.
The weekend is nice. The three of you actually spend most of your time together. You and Melissa take Ellie to the park, you get coffee at the redhead’s favorite little shop, and then you make dinner together. Melissa helps put your daughter to bed, and it’s all good and fine.
Come Monday, you’re a nervous wreck. Ellie is exhausted from the extravagant weekend, and she is not a happy camper. Even Melissa coming over to make breakfast can’t quite wake her up.
“Momma cannot deal with this Elizabeth,” you grit out as she squirms.
At her full first name, your daughter pauses. Her little mouth forms into an ‘O’, and she stops her protests until it’s time to shuffle her out the door.
“I don’t wanna take the bike!” she groans and stomps her feet. “I wanna drive with Miss Mel!”
“And Momma wants to bike.”
“I don’t care!”
“Elizabeth Ruth,” you say sternly. You close your eyes and take a deep breath, attempting to ground yourself.
Melissa lays a gentle hand on your shoulder, and it’s so comforting.
“Miss Mel will take us today, but we cannot keep bumming rides off of her,” you tell your daughter. You get her into the car, and only when you’re pulling out of the garage does the redhead offer you a gentle smile.
“Hey. It’s all gonna be okay,” she tells you softly. “And you ain’t bumming rides off me. I like giving you guys rides.”
You shake your head and your hands out in attempts to soothe yourself.
“I know you’re nervous, but today is going to be just fine, you’ll be with me, and-”
“Why do you get to spend all day with Miss Mel?!” Ellie screeches from the back seat. The idea of you spending time with the redhead without her throws her into an absolute fit. She’s kicking your seat and crying, and you finally snap.
“Elizabeth Ruth!” you whip around. “Enough! I will only be with Melissa because I will be doing my job, and you’ll still get to see us both when Mrs. Howard walks you down to the staff room, and you will see her during dismissal!”
Your sharp voice makes your daughter freeze. Her tears subside, and she’s reduced to sniffles.
You soften. “I’m sorry, love. Momma’s just a bit stressed this morning.”
“It’s okay, Momma,” Ellie whimpers. “”s ‘kay.”
You feel bad for snapping on her, and when the three of you get out of the car, Ellie insists on staying by Melissa’s side.
“For today, you’re just sticking by my side and observing, but feel free to run out whenever you have to,” the redhead tells you once she’s gotten her stuff settled, and Ellie is sitting in one of the bean bag chairs in the back of the room. “If you need to make copies, continue setting up your room, use the bathroom… anything like that.”
“You nod.”
“I’m heading down to the staff lounge for some coffee and to watch the news if you want to join,” the redhead tells you. Ellie is immediately at her side and asking to be picked up, to which Melissa does immediately.
You follow them down to the lounge silently, nerves coming back full force.
The second grade teacher introduces you to her friends and tells them that you’re Ellie’s mother, but also their newest staff member.
Janine is quick to introduce herself and tell you that she’s willing to help you in any way you might need, that you’re so lucky to have Melissa as your mentor, and that your daughter is just the cutest thing.
Everyone else is just as kind, although not quite as interested in you. Barbara just smiles gently at you and nods- she already knows of you and the interest her work wife has taken on you.
The lounge time is nice, a time for you to recollect yourself, but it’s over far too soon. You walk Ellie down to her kindergarten classroom and give her a warm hug and kiss.
“I love you, little girl,” you whisper to her, kissing her hairline.
“I love you too, Momma,” she says just as softly. She lets you go and hugs Melissa just as tightly before telling the woman that she loves her too.
Although Ellie had said it before, this one feels much more heartfelt from your little girl, and the redhead can’t help the tears that well in her eyes. “I love you too, El.”
The two of you leave your daughter with Barbara and head back to her room.
“You okay?” the redhead asks you gently.
You nod as confidently as you can, but she can read your body language. “Nervous.”
She reaches for your hand gently and squeezes it. It’s so warm, and full of comfort, and just everything you need right now. Her eyes are soft and you can see the amount of love and care that she has for you in her eyes. You swoon- almost.
You squeeze hers back, as if to silently say thank you. And then neither of you let go. You just continue on down to her room, your hand in her own.
When you get there and pull apart, your cheeks turn red. You shouldn’t have held her hand the whole way down. But before you can apologize or say anything to her, one of the kids is running in, so excited to tell Melissa all about her day after school yesterday.
You retreat back to her back table where your things are and sigh. You watch her handle this child with so much care, but it’s just not the same as when it’s Ellie. It melts your heart that you now know that your girl has a special place in her heart. But at the same time, it makes it so much more complicated- your feelings for her.
This is going to be interesting.

never grow up part five
summary: after months of no contact, chris and sunny find themselves having a long awaited conversation about their relationship part four part six
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last four months were somehow the best and worst times of my life.
In those months I was able to learn so much more about myself, figuring out how to live without the one person I rested my head on for all of my life. It was a challenge, but I’m here, and I’m figuring it out.
But then I think about the struggle, and the fact that every time I face some sort of hardship, I go to rest my head on a shoulder that doesn’t exist with me anymore.
I’ve started to make some other friends, forcing myself to distract myself and stop this pit inside of me from growing any more.
Part of me is still hoping, praying, and wishing on every star that our relationship – friendship can be saved. If we can get through this without losing touch with each other, we can get through anything, right?
“Are you listening to me?” my mom’s voice snaps me out of my daze.
“Sorry, yeah,” I nod, focusing back on here as she finishes her grocery shopping. I came with her to keep myself from going insane with my roommates, but now I’m wishing I stayed home to wallow.
She’s asked me about Chris a few times, the casual, “What’s new with him?” type of questions. I always make something up or say “the same as always,” because even though she doesn’t know how things have changed, at least that answer isn’t a lie. Everything is the same as it’s been since he left without a word.
I’ve caught myself looking at updates in his life since that’s all I have of him now. We haven’t talked since he called me and admitted to fucking someone else. I can’t begin to express the betrayal and pain I felt when he told me that. Even still, I haven’t brought myself to want to be near any other guy, and to think that he went to LA and slept with someone else so fast and easily makes me feel sick, like I was just another hookup for him despite our history.
We never had the temptation to do that with each other before. When we slept together, it was because there was something there. We were special.
I can’t keep myself from wondering if I ever cross his mind.I sit and wonder if he still thinks of me, or who he says is his best friend.
I have made the painful and saddening mistake of watching some of their videos. I missed his voice, I missed watching us in the older videos, I missed those memories.
“This one is too big, dipshit!” a familiar voice causes my head to turn.
“Then we’ll get the smaller one!”
“Well, what if we go to the next store and they don’t have any?”
“Jesus, what do you want from me!” Nick responds.
Nick.
“I’ll look over–” the third voice calls out, halting when his body collides with mine.
Oh my god.
“Chris!” my mom cheers.
His eyes are stuck on mine, our bodies inches apart. I watch as he swallows nervously. I would do anything to know what he was thinking about right now.
Finally, he snaps his attention from me and places it on my mom. He slaps the fakest, but most convincing smile on his face.
“Hi!” he grins at her, stepping around me and giving her a hug.
“I haven’t seen you since the cookout,” she reminds him, swaying him a bit as she embraces him. He giggles, just like he always has when she does this. “I didn’t even know you left.”
He nods, tucking his hands into his pockets after she lets go of him. “Things just got kinda hectic and I didn’t have time. I’m sorry.”
So he apologizes to her, but not me. That only proves that his apology to her isn’t sincere.
“You didn’t tell me he was home!” she says to me now.
I keep my feelings written on my face. Anger, hurt, and loss.
“No one told me.”
He glances at me, then looks at his feet. “It was a surprise,” he lies.
“Whatever,” I mumble, taking the car keys from my mom and excusing myself to the car for the rest of her shopping.
What a fucking asshole.
To not tell me he was coming back, lying to my mom, and pretending like he hasn’t ripped me apart over the last few months, I couldn’t keep looking at him.
I sat in my moms car, trying everything in my power to keep myself from breaking down. This was all so unfair. Every memory we had together, he threw it all away. Him coming back without a word, without a text, a phone call… it all just proved that this friendship was over with. All because of a stupid night that clearly meant more to me than to him.
I went back to my apartment that night, hiding my feelings from everyone. I didn’t think about calling him as much as I wanted to scream at him for making me feel this way. I laid in my bed and sat with a book, trying to distract myself from everything going on outside.
If he could do this without hesitation, without thinking about me, and act on emotion because of his anger towards me for going on a date, all while he was going to lie to me and never tell me he had sex with someone else until he had a reason to lash out at me, then he doesn’t deserve my time.
Eventually, I crumble.
The week went by with me knowing he was down the street and I couldn’t do anything about it. I used to walk into his house unannounced and be greeted with a hug by all of his family members, then spend the rest of the day in his room playing video games, listening to music, talking, just being with each other.
The one person I wanted to talk to about everything going on was the one person I had to stay away from. I couldn’t tell him how awful I felt, and I couldn’t go to him for comfort. He was the one who ripped me apart.
The lifelong friend I thought I never had to worry about losing had officially pulled himself out of my life.
“Higher!” I screamed out for him below me.
He grabbed the sides of the swing, pulling me back as far as he could without falling over and shoving me forward as hard as he could. “I’m trying!”
I felt myself fly in the air, a cheer of excitement leaving me as the brisk Boston air surrounded me, painting my face in a blush color as the chill burned me.
“Yay!” he clapped from under me.
At seven years old, we had it all. Everything that we now lost, we had when we were kids. How is that fair?
“Can you see the hockey rink from up there?!” he asked, raising his voice so I could hear him, as if I was in outer space.
“Umm, I don’t know. I need to go higher.”
He stood behind me, trying to catch my seat of the swing so he could launch me higher in the air. His small feet couldn’t hold himself up as the impact of me flying back down collided with his waist. He flew back, his puffer coat catching some of the collision. While his body was okay, he fell backwards, spinning around to try catching himself. I jumped down from the swing as soon as I could, some fear stopping me from hopping down at the height I was at.
I had never seen so much blood before. The mulch under the swingset cut his cheeks, and he must have smacked his nose because it was gushing blood.
“Sunny!” he cried out, instantly bawling. Maybe he was embarrassed and that’s part of the reason he was crying, but he had so much blood on his face that he was clearly in pain.
“Sorry!” my own eyes welled with tears as I tried to help him. I took off my gloves and let him use them as tissues, trying to stop the blood from pouring out.
I held his hand as we stumbled back to his house. As soon as the door opened, he cried for his mom, to which she ran down the steps and scooped him up, trying to calm his hysterics.
My mom came and picked me back up, and we returned a few hours later.
“Mrs. Sturniolo, I have a present for Chris and his boo boo’s.”
She smiled down at me, then called for Chris to come down. He ran down the steps, displaying the scratches on his face that had stopped bleeding.
I held out an ice cream cone for him, cookie dough to be exact. He smiled, hugged me, and held my hand as he pulled me inside, sitting down on the couch with me as he licked his ice cream.
When I was dealing with family problems growing up, he was always there.
“I don’t know what to do anymore,” I cried, watching him wipe my tears before they could fall to my cheeks.
“Where’s your backpack?” he asked, and I pointed somewhere on the floor.
“What are you doing?” I asked quietly, afraid to interrupt whatever he was doing.
“You’re going to move in with me until your parents start being nice to each other.”
We were ten at the time, and I did end up moving in with them for about four days.
I slept in Chris’ bed with him, and his mom took us to school. My mom liked the idea until she heard about my plan of not coming back. Needless to say, that brought me home.
I needed him back in my life, but I was too broken to cry for him again.
Days later, I was in bed doing homework when a knock on my door finally pulled me out of my room. With both of my roommates gone, I figured one of them came back and forgot their key. Anyone who comes inside needs a code to get into the building.
I opened the door without checking through the peephole.
“Hi,” he said quietly, giving me a soft smile.
My broken heart was suddenly mended together, and I hated myself for making that happen so easily.
“What are you doing here?”
He pulls a cookie dough ice cream cone from behind his back.
“Apology ice cream?”
A frown starts to pull my lips downward. He notices, and invites himself in.
“Can we talk?”
I nod weakly.
He starts walking towards my couch. Without thinking, I grab his hand and pull him into a hug. He freezes until my arms wrap around him. Then, his body relaxes.
He wraps his arms tightly around my body, squeezing me. His head rests in the crook of my neck, his breath fanning my skin.
“I needed you,” I breathe out, trying not to cry again.
“I know.”
“You weren’t there.”
He nods, squeezing me tighter. “I know.”
We stand in silence until he pulls away from me.
“Your ice cream is melting.”
I go to wipe my tears, but he beats me to it, just like he always did.
“I’ll get a bowl for you,” he says. “Go sit.”
I probably look terrified on this couch. The last time he was here with me we almost had sex again. The last time he was here, everything fell apart.
I take a bite of my melting ice cream, waiting for him to say something.
“I panicked when you told me how you felt,” he confesses. “I love you so much. I’ve always loved you. I don’t want you to not be in my life. I was going fucking crazy for months. I missed you so fucking much, Sunny.”
I’m torn between the pain of knowing he was hurt, but also the relief knowing that I wasn’t alone in this. He was feeling the same way I was. If we just communicated then we could have gotten through this, but we wanted to be mad at the other person.
“I want to be with you,” he says, holding my arms so I focus on him. “I really really do. You’re all I think about. We just need to talk about all of this.”
I nod, trying to think of the right thing to say.
“When did you start liking me?” he asks.
“I think right before you left last year,” I try to remember. “I loved being with you. It was different than before. I was getting butterflies with you. Then when you left, I got sad, I think.”
“I fell in love with you in sophomore year.”
My eyes dart to his, shock written on my face.
“But you were dating–”
“I know,” he says. “I kept trying to break it off with her. She was jealous of you. Every girl was. They knew you were going to come first. She kept trying to tell me all this shit about how I would never be able to keep her or any other girl because I’m too obsessed with my best friend. Finally one day I just decided, fuck her, and that was it.”
I had met his ex-girlfriend a few times. Mostly in passing because the only time we hung out as a group at his house, she tried coming after my friendship with Chris. We lost some of our friendship because of her, but luckily, Chris did everything he could to bring it back to what it was once she was out of his life.
“I missed you so much, Sun.”
I chew on my bottom lip, looking at him defeated. “I missed you.”
He opens his arms wide for me, then says “C’mere.”
I fall into his arms so easily, it’s like they were made for me.
“Not letting go of you again, okay?” he whispers, kissing the top of my head before pulling me closer. “I promise.”
“I love you so much, Chris.” It spills out of me. Maybe I’m able to cover it up as friendship love, the kind we always had for each other growing up–
“I love you.” He waits for me to look at him before continuing. “I love you so fucking much. I just–”
I hold my breath.
“Right now… with me being in LA, I can’t give you what you deserve right now. I promise, once we’re living in the same place again, if you’re still wanting to be with me, I’ll do anything I can to keep you. I swear on it. I just don’t want to not be able to give you enough right now because of where we are in life.”
Even though I wanted to try to have a relationship with him, I know this is the right thing, and I am so appreciative of him telling me how he feels this time despite his fears. If I could have had this answer months ago, I wouldn’t have fallen apart the way I did.
“Is that okay?” he asks carefully.
I sit up, nodding my head.
He pushes my hair back behind my ears. “I’m sorry.”
I shake my head. “Don’t be.” I give him a small smile. “I get it.”
He rubs my cheek with his thumb before dropping his hands into his lap.
“I have to go home soon to finish packing for the airport.”
Back to LA he goes, I guess.
“Did you sleep with anyone else other than the girl you told me about?”
He looks shocked that I would ask him this. “No– I just–” he sighs. “No. It was only her, and it was only one time. I felt like shit after. Got faded and went to Matt for help. He told me to call you, so I did, and that’s when you were on your date. I was so angry and fucked up I lashed out and told you. I shouldn’t have done it like that.”
“That made me really upset. Not that you slept with someone– well, a little. But the fact that you used it as ammunition because you knew it would upset me.”
“I know,” he agrees. “That wasn’t nice.”
He grabs my ice cream and takes a bite, licking his finger when it drips down his hand.
I rest my head on his shoulder, the same one I had been searching for for months.
We sit in a comfortable silence while we share a melting ice cream.
“Where do you see yourself in ten years?” I ask, trying to break the silence but also figure out how long I’ll be waiting for him.
“With you.”
I look up at him, my eyes full.
“Always with you,” he says, holding my chin.
There clearly isn’t a thought in either of our brains when we kiss each other again. It’s so soft, sweet, and gentle that it answers all of my questions. It gives me everything I need.
He holds my cheeks, kissing me again and then moving to the side of my face, peppering me in kisses everywhere. A loud laugh leaves my mouth, making him smile into one more kiss.
“What do you want to do about all of this?” he asks against my mouth.
“I want to be with you, but I can’t make you ready for me,” I admit to him.
He pulls back and holds my hands. “Then we’ll wait until the timing is better, but I swear to God Sunny, do not fucking leave me. No matter when we get together, I want you in my life always. Please, don’t leave me alone again.”
I kiss him one more time, the last kiss we will share with each other indefinitely.
He holds onto me for dear life, and I have to remind myself that this can’t go any further.
It’s always been Chris Sturniolo, and there won’t be a day in my life where I’m not meant for him.
“I promise.”

“no matter what.”
im nayeon x fem!twice 10th member reader; fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
warnings: a HINT of angst if you squint, talk of disbandment
w/c: 747
a/n: i don’t like this fic but i’ll post it anyways </3 NOT PROOFREAD !!!!
-
it was saturday, and today was one of the days where all of the girls had an off day. they were rare, so most spent it with eachother, doing fun things around seoul, but a select few, including you, decided to stay at the dorm and rest.
you lounged on your bed, keen on spending your day off rotting in bed. you had scrolled through your phone for hours now, and honestly you were getting kind of bored. you were thinking of going to bother Mina, who had stayed behind, but figured she’d probably tell you to leave so that she could continue playing her game.
so instead, you kept scrolling, mindlessly wandering the internet. that’s until something caught your eye. It was an article on Jeongyeon’s interview with Bazzar earlier that week. You skimmed through the interview, curious to see what the older girl had said.
You stopped when you came across a question asking “Can you believe twice is in its 10th year?”
You felt your heart pang. No, you couldn’t believe that twice was in its tenth year. You couldn’t believe that you had spent ten years with these girls, who used to be strangers to you. it all felt so surreal.
you continued to read, wanting to know what Jeongyeon replied. You felt another pang in your heart reading what she answered. She replied, “How many more albums can we release as twice in the future? We can’t be active as twice forever. Of course, it would be nice if we could, but there will come a time when we each have to walk our own path. It’s not a given that we can prepare an album together like now.”
You set your phone down, getting lost in your thoughts. You hadn’t thought about what it would be like without twice. without your members. you’ve spent every waking hour with them since sixteen, and a world without them feels unreal. but Jeongyeons right, you can’t be twice forever. you’ll have to move on eventually.
just the thought makes you tear up. and in seconds, you have tears running down your face, ugly crying. you grab the tissue box by your bed and try to clean your face up, but failing as the tears continue to stream down your face.
you hear a knock on your door, “y/n-ah, are you okay?” it’s nayeon. she must have heard your wailing.
you sniffle, using all your strength to muster up a reply. “y-yes, nayeon un-unnie” you said through sniffles.
“y/n, you’re clearly not. i’m coming in.” she opens the door, revealing you sitting in your bed, your face red, tissues spewed everywhere, and snot running down your nose. her eyes soften instantly. “oh baby…” she walks over to you, sitting on your bed and pulling you into her embrace. “what’s wrong?” she asks, stroking your hair.
“what are we going to do, unnie…” you mutter. nayeon pulls away, looking at you softly.
“what do you mean?” at that, you start spewing out words. you express how you’re not ready for the future. how you don’t want to grow up. how frightened you are at the fact that it’s already been ten years, when it seemed like only yesterday you all debuted. and how scared you are that you’re going to lose all of them. your best friends.
nayeon looks at you with a pout. she takes your face in her hands and wipes your tears. “it will be okay, y/n-ah.” she says, stroking your hair.
“unnie, i don’t kn-know what i’m going to do without you g-guys..” you say, sobbing.
nayeon sighs. of course she’s thought about disbandment. she wasn’t ready for it either; none of them were. so she tells you what she had been telling herself. “y/n, no matter what happens. no matter what path we choose to take. we are always going to be twice. a silly disbandment won’t break our friendship. we’ll always have eachothers backs, and support each other in whatever we decide to do.”
you nod, hugging her again. she lays down on your bed, putting your head on her chest. “go to sleep, y/n… you’ve had a long day..” you nod, wiping a stray tear.
the two of you sit in silence for a while, before you speak up. “i love you, unnie…” you say, hugging her tighter.
nayeon rubs your back with her hand. “i love you too, y/n.”
you fall asleep, with nayeons comforting embrace assuring you that no matter what life brings you, you’ll always be together.
you’ll always be twice

After hearing Taylor confess what you had heard Jack tell Urban left you in a daze. So, he in fact was telling the truth, however your best friend or someone who you thought was your best friend went behind your back and betrayed you. Never did you think that in a million years that she would do something like this and try to play innocent and continue on with life as usual as if nothing happened.
“Y/N, I know you're pissed at me and for good reason and I know I shouldn't have done it and…”
You immediately cut her off.
“Let me ask you something. Did you honestly think that you could do that and ultimately get away with it? Yes, me and him have our issues but stepping out on one another because of a disagreement has never been a reality. No matter how mad at each other we are. Bottom line, you took advantage of him being in a vulnerable stage. Even if I am still very mad at him, I'm going to defend him when someone does him wrong. And in this case, you were in fact… wrong.”
“I…”
“I thought that at least you were one of the last people I could count on to have my back, but low and behold you wanted my man for yourself. Everyone has treated me like shit since this first happened and since obviously my feelings don't matter to you or anyone else, there's nothing left for me to say. We are done here and you can forget about being their godmother. Lose my number and do not call me again for as long as you live.”
“Wait, just….. we're throwing our friendship away over a mistake I made? I confessed and I apologized. I don't know what came over me to do that and deep down I knew it wasn't right. But I just….”
“A mistake you hid from me for damn near two years and it wasn't a mistake actually. I had my suspicions, but I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, thinking no, there's no way in the world that my best friend would do that to me. You were in your right mind and knew what you were doing. And to think I trusted you. I've told you things In confidence that I have never told anyone else and you just….I need to leave. And you can pick up the tab since you want to be kissing other people's husbands.”
“It’s never going to happen again, I don’t want to lose you as a friend.”
“You've already lost me as a friend from the moment you tried to kiss Jack. It's not going to happen again, because you are going to stay as far away as possible from us. Did you really think that I would forgive you for doing something like that to me? You broke my trust and that is not something that cannot be repaired overnight. Oh, and one last thing, I knew what you did for months now and was just simply waiting for you to confess.”
Taylor was sitting there absolutely stunned and unable to speak. And it looked as if her eyes were starting to water.
“Didn't think it was going to take this long, but here we are. I'm taking my food to go and have the day you deserve. And you can save your tears for someone who actually cares.”
Without another word, you slid back from the table and went to the front of the restaurant to let them know that you wanted your order to go and that Taylor would be paying for it.
Once you got outside in your rental car, the tears started to roll down your face. You were proud of yourself, but also hurting. You felt that at this point, you didn't have anyone anymore and you simply wanted to go back home to Louisville or Atlanta rather and be away from it all. Because Atlanta was the only place where you felt that your life actually made sense. Louisville held too many memories for you and every single one of them had to do with Jack.
You had gotten back to the beach house in record time and stared at your phone contemplating if you were going to call Jack or not to let him know that you had talked to Taylor. Making your way inside, you sat everything down in the kitchen before making your way upstairs to the bedroom since your desire to eat anything was now gone. You picked up your phone and then shook your head and placed it on the dresser before the tears started falling again.
If you knew the shitstorm that would happen when Jack asked for you to marry him, you probably would have never done it. But who were you kidding? You knew deep down that you still would have said yes despite what was going on around you at the present moment. Did you see yourself marrying him again? Only time would be able to tell. The most important thing that you needed to focus on right now was trying to heal.
Jack played with his phone in his hands contemplating calling your older sister, Danielle, but had a strong feeling that she wouldn't want to hear anything that he had to say.
But he had to try.
He was willing to do absolutely anything to get you to forgive him and get him to marry him again. Even though you told him that marriage was definitely off the table, in the back of his mind and deep down he knew that if he wasn't able to get married to you again that he wouldn't get married again at all. You were the love of his life and he ruined it.
Before he backed out, he quickly hit her number to call her as his heart was damn near beating out of his chest.
And now he was hoping she didn't answer.
But luck wasn't on his side and she did.
“Hello?”
“Dani, it's Jack.”
“I know. I have something called caller id on my iphone.”
“Umm….”
“What do you need?”
“Um, for your little sister to stop ignoring my calls and talk to me.”
All Dani did was scoff before responding.
“And you think that you deserve to talk to her after what you did?” Dani asked and now Jack was starting to regret ever picking up the phone to call her.
“Dani, she's pregnant.”
“I am aware. I was there when she took the test. What's your point?”
“Dani, please. I just want her to talk to me so she can hopefully forgive me and we can get back together.”
“Jack, I told you to do one thing when it came to her. ONE. Do you remember what that was?”
“Take care of her.”
“Hmm, and did you do like I asked?”
“Well…”
“No. You didn't. Instead you hurt my baby girl and quite frankly, I’m surprised she stayed with you as long as she did. That girl LOVES you and would do anything for you, but instead you let your little fame get to your head. As much as she would call me crying all times of the night over you, you honestly think you deserve to be in a relationship with her again?”
“I know I've messed up and that I've hurt her, but all I want to do is make it right. I don't want anyone else or be married to anyone else. I didn't even want to sign the divorce papers!”
All Dani did was sigh before responding.
“You better listen to me and listen to me good. I will do what I can, but it is ultimately her decision. If she gets back with you, fine. I'll support it. If she doesn't, I'm also going to support it. But one thing I'm not going to tolerate is you disrespecting her. That is the mother of three of your big headed children so give her the respect she deserves. She's in Miami and I'm going to check on her so I'll do my best to see if she’ll talk to you. No promises.”
“That's literally all I ask.”
“But if she says no, unless it has to do with your unborn children, you better leave her the fuck alone.”
Not realizing that you fell asleep after confronting Taylor, you woke up to see that it was dark outside and had no clue what time it was. Grabbing your phone and wincing from the light as you put your password in, you saw that it was around nine at night.
Sighing to yourself, you threw the comforter away from your body to make your way downstairs to come face to face with your older sister who was currently sitting in the living room and scrolling away on her phone.
Hearing your footsteps come up behind her, she quickly greeted you.
“Lil Bit, I thought you were going to sleep until next week.”
“Uh? What are you doing here?” You sleepily asked as you rubbed your eyes.
“Don't you think I know when you need me?”
“I'm fine.”
“Are you?” She asked as you came to sit across from her.
You wanted to say yes, that you were indeed in fact fine, but the words just weren't coming out. Instead, something else did.
“I miss him and I HATE myself for feeling like this.” You breathed out while wrapping your arms around yourself.
“It's not like it was a one night stand. You two were MARRIED. And have known each other since you two were fourteen. That doesn't go away overnight. There's going to be ups and downs with healing from that. It isn't linear.”
“But I'm just so MAD at him for what he did. No matter how much he tries to take it back and apologize, what's done is done. And that song felt like a legit slap to the face.”
“He's not perfect, but neither are you. He definitely could have gone about it a different way, but what's done is done and the only thing you can do is move forward from it.”
“He called you, didn't he?” You asked as you were eyeing Dani.
“Maybe, maybe not.”
“DANIELLE….”
“He did and in not so many words, begged for me to convince you to talk to him and to stop ignoring his calls.”
“And? What did you tell him?”
“After I threatened him, I said that I would try to convince you, but no promises. He has a show in Miami in two days so I figured you two can talk then. If you want to, that is.”
“I don't know If I want to.” You answered being completely honest.
“You said you missed him.”
“I miss a lot of things, but I've learned to adjust.”
“You aren't adjusting. You're avoiding it.”
“I don't remember asking for a therapy session.”
“Look, I get that you're hurting and want to take some time for yourself, but you cannot keep this bottled up because you are legit going to explode.”
“What are people going to say if I take him back?”
“Who gives a flying fuck? That's your business and no one else's. Two people would be in that relationship and not the entire world.”
“But he legit disrespected me multiple times.”
“Y/N, if you are looking for me to tell you what to do, it’s not going to happen. In the end, this has to be a decision that you have to live with. No one else. Just know that whatever you decide, I will support you 100%.”
Before you answered her, you simply sighed.
“What venue is he performing at on Saturday?”
—-
Saturday finally rolled around and you had been on edge for the entire day. The time for you to leave was inching closer and closer and you were seriously about to back out of it altogether. Taking a deep breath, you gave yourself a once over in the floor length mirror at your black dress that you were wearing along with a pair of your Steve Madden sandals and was satisfied with how the outfit came together. You had straightened your hair earlier in the day, so the only thing left to do was to confront him.
You had been confronting a lot of people lately and wanted for this to be the end of it.
Dani volunteered to go with you and the two of you rode in silence to the venue with her taking quick glances at you to see that you were scrolling on your phone from time to time. Once the two of you arrived and made your way inside, Jack was already on stage and Urban had quickly spotted the two of you.
“Hi Urby.” You said as he engulfed you in a bear hug.
“Hey, didn’t know you were coming tonight.”
“I didn’t know either until two days ago.”
“He’ll be happy to see you. Come this way so I can take you two backstage so you can watch from the side.”
“Hmm, we’ll see if that still rings true after I talk to him.”
All Urban did was hold his hands up in defense before shrugging since he knew that you were just about at your wits end with everything that had been going on.
You and Dani quickly followed behind Urban and since everyone recognized you, you were able to get backstage with no problem. But you also knew in the back of your mind that your so-called ex-best friends were probably there as well, right along with Neelam. And of course she had spotted you.
“Y/N?”
“The one and only unless there’s another one that I don’t know about?” You quickly said to her as Dani stifled a laugh.
“Can we…?” She started to say, but you immediately cut her off.
“No. I’m here for one person and one person only. If I wanted to talk to any of the rest of you, I would have told you. I’ll let you know when I’m ready whenever that time comes.”
“I.. fair enough. You both can come over here to watch him from the side.”
It took less than five minutes for Jack to spot you standing on the side and he got the biggest smile on his face and you simply gave him a tight lipped smile in return. You did your part of willing to open the lines of communication, but if it was something that you didn’t want to hear, you were immediately going to cut it off.
Once his set was over, he quickly jogged off the stage towards you and opened his arms for a hug which surprisingly you actually returned.
You had missed this feeling.
“Can we go somewhere and talk?” You asked him and he quickly nodded as he led the two of you to his dressing room.
Once the door was closed, you let him have it.
“Babe? Is everything okay? What are you doing here? And I mean that in the best way possible.”
“Don't call me that, Jackman. You lost the privilege to do so. But let’s just cut to the chase shall we? You called Dani to get me to talk to you so here I am. Now onto my most pressing question, why didn't you tell me what Taylor did?”
Jack, obviously taken aback, cleared his throat before answering you. And all he did was rock back and forth on his heels before sighing.
“Because I didn't think you would believe me if I had told you when it originally happened.”
“But not to say anything at all? You were supposed to protect me, we're supposed to protect each other! I had the fakest person under my nose for the longest and you said NOTHING.”
“I…. I didn't know what to do. You already didn't want to be bothered with me and I didn't want to create an even bigger mess. Wait, she told you?”
“Yes and kept asking me before she did if you had said something to me first.”
“I'm sorry, and I know that I should have. I would never cheat on you no matter how mad I might be. You mean too much to me for me to do that.”
“Hmm, your actions lately say otherwise. You hurt me with that shit you pulled and should have come and talked to me.”
“I know and I don't have an excuse for it. I just wish we could start over and just forget that any of this ever happened.”
“Do you honestly think that you deserve another chance?”
“Dani legit said the same thing.” He mumbled before taking a seat next to you and grabbing your left hand which was still decorated with your wedding ring. Except it wasn’t on your ring finger.
He began to play with it as he was waiting for you to say something.
“How do I know that something like this won’t ever happen again?” You asked and that was when he finally looked up at you.
“Because we’re going to communicate better and be honest with each other about how we’re feeling. That was my biggest downfall.”
“Hmm.”
“And I need to put you first. You were the one who was with me when I had absolutely nothing and I lost sight of that. Anytime I needed you, you were there but I didn’t give you that same treatment in return.”
“I want to believe you, I really do because I miss you, but… I just don’t know.”
“Y/N, please. Things are going to be different this time.”
“Maybe, but I don’t know if I’m at that point where I want to find out or not.” You answered being completely honest.
“Well, how long do you think that will take? You know I’m willing to wait. I legit do not want anyone else.”
“Only time will tell.” You shrugged while looking at him.
When he didn’t say anything else, you simply let go of his hand and began to get up.
“Wait, where are you going?”
“I did what you asked and I came and heard what you had to say, did I not?”
“Yes, but…”
“And now I’m leaving.”
“Baby girl, just…”
“Just, what, Jack? Just what? You said your piece and I’ve said mine. When I’m ready to take you back, you’ll know.”
“I love you and I want this. I want us.” He said as he grabbed your hand and squeezed it.
“Yes, you’ve made that very clear and you’ve done it more than once.”
“At least just spend the night with me, let me take you out.”
“Maybe some other time. I’m pretty tired. I am pregnant, the last time I checked.”
“Okay, I get that. Some other time then.”
Jack then stood up and gave you another long embrace as he leaned down to kiss your forehead.
You then felt him cup your cheek and knew he wanted to kiss you. You wanted to kiss him too, but you definitely weren’t letting him back in that easily.
Instead of meeting his lips with yours, he met your cheek since you had turned your head and you heard him sigh.
“When I fully forgive you, you can give me as many kisses as your heart desires, but until then I need you to remember something for me.”
“What is it?
“Remember one thing, I'm not your girl.” You whispered against his lips before smirking and laughing to yourself as you made your way to the door of the dressing room.
“Drive Safe tonight, Jackman.” Was the last thing you said before you disappeared on the other side of the door leaving him absolutely speechless.

“What is it that no one wants to have, but no one wants to lose either?” I asked. I already knew it was a lost cause. Edward Nygma was the smartest man I had ever met. Dorky? Yes. Nerdy? Absolutely. Smart? Incredibly. So trying to impress him at his own game wasn’t exactly the smartest move. Yet, the first time I gave him a riddle to solve (which he solved ridiculously fast), I don’t think I’d ever seen him so happy. So I continued to scour the internet in my free time to try and find obscure riddles.
Although this riddle wasn’t that obscure. I was running out of riddles to find, and I sure as hell couldn’t make my own.
“A lawsuit,” Eddie replied without missing a beat, still focusing on testing blood samples.
I couldn’t stop the pout that formed on my face, “It’s not fair how smart you are.”
I didn’t see Ed’s lips twitch up, how the praise I didn’t think twice about saying impacted him more than he’d like to admit. It was quiet for a few minutes, and I looked back down to the papers I had brought with me. Sometimes, I found myself working in the forensic lab when I could. One of the perks of being a criminal data analyst. I could make my notes on paper, and then just copy them into the computer later.
Since I was a data analyst, I was in the record archives often. I was acquainted with Kristen Kringle, which obviously led me to Edward Nygma. She would complain about him if I came in after he had left. At that point I didn’t know him, but I also found her complaints unfounded. I’d let her vent, but I’d also speak up for him, which made her glance away in what I assume was guilt. Then there were the unfortunate times that I’d walk in on his awkward flirting. I’d just tensely put away or take the files I needed for my research and leave them to it.
But after enough times, I’d caught him in the middle of one of his riddles. An easy one, probably to dumb it down for Kringle so she’d be enticed to answer it in the first place. Yet he had caught the attention of the wrong person. Although that didn’t seem to put a damper on his mood. He only sent me a tight lipped smile with a little ‘ding ding ding!’. That’s how I was caught hook line and sinker. His mannerisms were oddly endearing to me, and that’s how our odd little friendship formed.
I was brought out of my reverie as Eddie shuffled over to his microscope, “I am a nine lettered word and rhyme with perfection; I am another name for love. What am I?”
I blinked, not ready for a riddle, even though I always should be in the presence of him. I looked up from my work, and I noticed how Eddie was sweating, his cheeks flushing a bright red. I tapped the metal table anxiously, the word love had thrown me off my game and my brain felt empty of anything else. I mumbled words under my breath that rhyme with perfection.
“Deception, reception, perception,” I mumbled, yet none of them fit the rest of the rhyme. The longer I took, the more anxious Eddie seemed to get. “Affection. Oh! The answer is affection!”
Ed cleared his throat, adjusting his glasses, “Y-yes, that is correct. G-good job.” My proud smile fell into a more awkward one, thinking over the implications. That riddle sounded like one he’d save for Kringle. Was he running out of riddles as well? The thought alone was preposterous. It was tense for a bit. And when I realized I had nothing left to do but input the current data I had on some wanna be gang leader. The sad part is I knew that the cops aren’t going to be the first ones who get them.
Even though I needed to leave, it felt wrong for some reason. To leave the situation after Edward had seemed to admit something in his unique way of sharing. I didn’t want to assume his feelings, yet I knew he also wasn’t one to just state them willingly. Biting my lip anxiously, I decided to just do it.
Walking over towards Ed’s hunched form, I leaned down to place a light kiss to his cheek, “I’ll see ya later Eddie.” Then I booked it out of the room, leaving behind a very flustered dork.
It wasn’t much later in the day when Doctor Lee Thompson entered my office. It wasn’t much of an office. The dark walls made the space feel enclosed, and it barely fit my desk and the few cabinets it held. Yet I didn’t mind it since it was a space for myself. Lee, on the other hand, was another acquaintance whose office was nowhere near mine. She’d only come to my office for a few reasons, if it was work related (which was rare since our departments weren’t similar), or if it was personal. Sometimes she fessed that it seemed I needed some company, that it would do me no good to spend all this time alone in my office. Other times…it was on a more personal note, about Eddie and I’s relationship.
She plopped a candy bar on my desk, a placating move that was all too familiar.
“You must’ve done a real number on Ed,” She smirked, sitting on my desk. Due to the tiny size of the room, and the nature of my job, I didn’t have a seat for guests.
“What do you mean?” I asked. Deep down, I knew exactly what she meant. I knew Edward was an awkward man, and his experience with flirting was an ultimate zero. Yet it was hard to imagine that he was still affected by a small gesture of affection… Okay maybe the gesture wasn’t that small, for either of us, but still!
Lee’s smirk widened, “I think you know exactly what. Poor little Ed kept stumbling over his words when I brought you up. Something must’ve happened.”
I unwrapped the candy bar as she spoke, wanting to avoid any thought of the earlier moment. Looking back it was so awkward and a terrible attempt at…what? Flirting? Was that my intention? I didn’t even know my own intentions!
I took a bite from the candy bar, savoring the sweet flavor before having to explain the painfully awkward memory. When I managed to explain the event, Lee couldn’t stop herself from chuckling, causing me to finish my candy bar with a bitter look.
“That sounds like something you’d both do,” She smiled.
“What’s that supposed to mean,” I huffed, trying to fight off the flush of embarrassment I felt.
“Nothing,” She sighed wistfully. “But you two really take your time, huh?”
“Shut up,” I scowled.
“Okay, okay,” She threw her hands up in mock surrender. “I’ll stop teasing…for now. But seriously, I think you two would be cute together.”
I let out a childish groan, “I get it. Is there anything else you need?”
“No,” She smiled as she stood up. “Just wanted to see what had Ed all wound up.”
I rolled my eyes, but my heart skipped a beat at the implication. As Lee saw herself out, my mind kept racing. What was Ed doing right now? What was he thinking about? Did he really care enough about my opinion, about my affection, that he was still affected by it? I stared at my computer screen, the cursor blinking mindlessly. Glancing at the time, I scowled as I realized I still had 30 minutes left to my shift. The idea of going home, having a relaxing dinner and then maybe treating myself to a warm bath.
That was only the beginning. It seems that Eddie’s admiration had shifted from Kristin Kringle to me. It was flattering, to say the least. At least to me. Once I gained Ed’s attention, I seemed to have gained his colleagues attention as well. Typically, I didn’t work with the officers, I’d research criminals, then that data would be added to the files. So when I walked past James Gordon and Harvey Bullock, I never thought twice. But when Ed had waved at me, that cute tight lipped smile on his face as I waved back, a smile of my own adorning my face, it drew the attention of the two detectives.
"Careful Ed,” Harvey mocked. “Don’t wanna scare them off.” Jim only glanced up briefly, not interested in the situation in the least. I watched as Ed’s smile twitched for a second, Harvey’s words seeming to get to him. I felt my smile slip, not liking how they treat him in the slightest.
“He…didn’t do anything wrong,” I shrugged, before waving goodbye, making my way to the record archives. Not only them, but even Kringle was looking at me more than just as a person to vent to.
“I feel sorry for you,” She stated, adjusting her thick rimmed glasses. Her hazel eyes held their usual air of judgment as she placed some files back in their spots.
“Why?” I asked, flipping through to find the person I needed.
“Isn’t it obvious?” She asked, raising one of her perfectly maintained eyebrows. “Edward’s got his eyes on another victim.” I frowned, anger bubbling within me at the way she always found new ways to insult him.
“I wouldn’t describe it like that,” I managed to grit out. “I find the sentiment sweet.”
“Wait,” Kringle paused, turning to look at me with disbelief. “Do you…like him?”
I sighed, finding it hard to focus on the task at hand with this irritating conversation, “Would there be something wrong with that?”
“Isn’t it kind of weird how fast he switched?” She asked, a hint of jealousy in her tone. “I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before he loses interest in you.”
I slammed the cabinet shut in a bout of rage, leaving the room before I do something I may regret…or lose my job over. As I exited, my scowl worsened when I realized I didn’t even get what I needed.
“Hello!” Edward’s excited voice greeted me as I entered the break room. When my gaze landed on him, I felt my expression soften, my shoulder’s relaxing. His brown eyes were so expressive, that silly smile on his face never failed to melt my heart.
“Hey,” I muttered back. Looking over the options in the vending machine. Just get something to eat, and hopefully I’ll feel better.
“Is…something the matter?” He asked, fidgeting with his glasses. I let out a long sigh as I sat across from him at one of the few tables.
Taking a bite of my snack, I took some time to gather my thoughts and feelings, “Sometimes I just hate people.”
His eyebrows raised, nervously fidgeting with his tie, “Th-that’s…understandable.”
“Sorry,” I muttered, finally cooling down. “Someone was just saying some really mean things and it got to me.”
Edwards’ demeanor changed in an instant, a frown replacing his smile, and his eyebrows furrowed in a mixture of concern and anger, “Who?”
I blinked, “What?”
“Who insulted you?” He asked, fists clenched. This wasn’t what I was expecting. He would get annoyed, yeah, but he’d always just stew in it until he calmed down. And he was barely angry when I was around, which was something I was proud of. So seeing him react so harshly was unusual. It made me feel a bit appreciated, that he cared enough to get this angry over it, yet it was also unsettling.
“They…they were insulting you,” I clarified, rubbing my arm awkwardly. “And trust me, I was ready to do some things that would’ve gotten me fired.”
Ed blinked, calming down drastically at the revelation, “Oh.”
“Yeah,” I shrugged. “I swear if she says one more damned thing about you I’m gonna…” I strangled the air, the only way I could express how frustrated her insults made me.
Edward fake coughed, his cheeks tinged a light pink, “I assume you mean Miss Kringle.”
I paused, hoping it didn’t hurt that his past interest was still as rude as ever. “I didn’t even manage to get the files I needed,” I grumbled, hoping to lighten the mood a bit.
“...I can get them for you,” I felt my heart crack. Was he still interested in her? Was that why he was so ready to go into the den of the woman who so readily insults him?
“Oh, no you don’t have to do that,” I shook my head. “I’ll just have Lee do it.”
Ed blinked, seeming to think over something before standing up, “I’ll be right back.” Before he was fully out the door he paused, “Whose case files did you need?”
I couldn’t help the tiny grin at how eager he was as I gave him the names of the people I needed files on. Yet that smile fell. Was he really so excited to get a chance to see Kringle that he almost left without knowing what files he needed? I finished my snack, getting a drink from the vending machine while I was at it. My mind continued to make up terrible scenarios that could be happening at that moment. How she could manage to crush Ed’s precious heart even more than she’s already managed to.
Ed was back quicker than I realized. It took him less than ten minutes! He set the files I needed on the table, that tight lipped grin on his face as he waited for my input.
“Oh! Thank you!” I thanked, flipping through the files to make sure they were all there. “She didn’t give you any trouble, did she?”
“No,” He replied simply. As I met his gaze, that’s when I finally realized that he was truly over Kringle. I should’ve felt disturbed at how intense his gaze was, at how strong his emotions seemed to be when he wasn’t even trying. Yet I only felt flattered, important, and wanted. Emotions I wasn’t completely used to, and caused my heart to stutter at how strong my own emotions were becoming.
Standing up, I leaned in and kissed his cheek again, this time a bit more confident then the last time I did. I waved goodbye as I walked out with the files he gave me. I felt pride swell within me as I watched Eddie become a flustered mess as I left. It was a good mood lifter as I watched him fumble with his usual nervous ticks, before he was finally out of my sight.
Edward’s courting tactics only seemed to grow after that. I wasn’t sure what changed him to do so. I could only speculate that Lee had something to do with it. She kept stopping by my office, asking how Ed and I were doing like she hadn’t just seen us the day before. I can’t lie, I was reveling in the attention that Ed was giving me, and I could tell he’d revel in my attention as well. A mutual pining on both sides.
Normally, I’d be okay with that. Too scared to try and push things forward. Edward Nygma was different. He was just so…amazing. I’ve never felt so strongly towards someone. He was sweet, attentive, smart, and overall lovely. I couldn’t just settle for pining, I wanted to experience what it would be like as his lover.
Which led me to this horrendous mess up of a confession.
I dressed up a bit nicer than usual, hoping to impress the cute dork. I felt confident in myself, an emotion I don’t feel regularly. I greeted Lee, who seemed like she guessed the occasion and sent me a wink when I walked past.
“Hey Eddie,” I greeted, setting a cup of coffee down on the counter.
“Oh! Hello,” He greeted me, smiling. “You seem chipper this morning.”
Nudging the coffee towards him I smiled back, “It’s a good day today. I got you a coffee.”
“You didn’t need to,” Ed replied sheepishly, not used to people giving him things.
I only shrugged, “I wanted to.” I tapped the counter I was leaning on as nerves started to slowly creep through me. So, before my anxiety could get the best of me, I blurted out, “What is mine but only you can have?”
With furrowed eyebrows, Ed actually paused to answer a riddle for the first time during this little game we had. His eyes flitted around the room, like he was trying to avoid the answer. I know he was smart enough to figure it out, so the fact he was taking so long to answer caused my heart rate to spike from anxiety. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe I was reading the room wrong. I blame Lee for feeding me a wrong understanding.
“I…uh…” Ed stuttered over his words, sweat dripping down the side of his face. Shit, shit, shit! I shouldn’t have said that. He does know the answer, I found it online easily, he obviously knows. He doesn’t feel the same and now he’s trying to find a way to politely reject me.
“Nevermind!” I exclaimed, trying to quell my nerves by getting the fuck out of here. “Stupid riddle! Never needs an answer. I should get to work.”
“W-wait!” Eddie called out, making me stop in my tracks. So close yet so far. “I can be a fruit, I can be on a calendar, I can be important, and I can be forgotten. What am I?”
Turning back around, I watched as Eddie picked at his nails. We both seemed like complete messes at the moment. It was hard for me to think of anything due to my previous failure of admitting my feelings. I bit my lip awkwardly, trying to stop myself from making any more of a fool of myself.
“I…I’m not sure Eddie,” I chuckled solemnly.
Clearing his throat, he adjusted his glasses before admitting, “A date. W-would you accompany me on one?” I stared at him with wide eyes, unsure if I heard him correctly.
“Y-yeah! Of course I will!” That tinge of embarrassment was quickly overpowered by exhilaration. The smile that stretched across my face almost hurt with how big it was. Eddie’s smile was also wide as he still couldn’t meet my eyes.
“Is…is tonight okay? Dinner? 7 o’clock?”
“That sounds perfect.”
And to make the moment better, I kissed his cheek before parting, excited for what the night held for us.

you avoid your crush.
how do you deal with an unwanted but undeniable crush? you avoid them: save the friendship, mourn the relationship. or, so you thought.
including: cyno, the wanderer.
warnings: gender neutral reader, slight angst, mostly fluff.
cyno.
when you realized you’ve developed feelings for cyno, your best friend, you didn’t know what to do. you couldn’t tell him and ruin the friendship. that would be a disaster, and break your heart twice over: once, to lose cyno as a friend, and again, to lose him as anything more. so you resigned yourself to only have your heart broken once: you would avoid cyno until your feelings disappeared, and keep your friendship with him intact.
so that’s exactly what you do. everything was going fine, too—until today, when cyno cornered you in a small alcove at the akademiya.
“oh, cyno…! funny seeing you here…”
“is it, though?” he asks. “i do work here. we both work here, actually. wouldn’t it be stranger not to see me?”
yes, it is, but cuno doesn’t give you time to respond before he continues: “so isn’t it quite strange that i haven’t seen you in what? a week or two now?”
“yes… i guess.”
cyno waits for more, but you give him nothing else. you fidget under the weight of his stare. he’s observing you and you get the feeling like you’re an experiment gone wrong, a conclusion miscalculated.
“al-righ-t,” cyno finally says, drawing out each syllable. he hesitates for a second before his face hardens and he says, “if you want to avoid and ignore me and pretend i don’t exist, then you can avoid and ignore me and pretend i don’t exist. i can’t stop you, even if i hate it. but i would have at least wanted an answer as to why.”
cyno steps aside then, as if to tell you the conversation is gone, you’re free to go. but you don’t move, can’t move. you can’t even think as cyno steps away, only his words ringing in your ears: i would have at least wanted an answer as to why. you owed him that much, at least.
“wait, cyno—“ you take in a deep breath, and the words tumble out all at once. “i’m sorry, i’m so sorry for avoiding you i— i really thought it was the best since i like you and you don’t like me, and i didn’t want to ruin our friendship but it just ended up hurting the both of us and it was a really stupid, but i didn’t know what else to do and… i’m really sorry.”
you look up when cyno doesn’t say anything. he’s still studying you, maybe even more intensely than before.
“yes.” he finally says.
“what?”
“it was really stupid.”
your face burns in embarrassment. cyno continues, “not just your plan—but that you thought we couldn’t be friends if i didn’t feel the same way back.”
“i know i just—“ you abruptly cut off, repeating what cyno just said in your head. “you feel… the same way back?”
“yes. i’d tell you it was stupid not to realize i also like you… but until now, i didn’t know you felt the same.”
“oh.” and then again, because you don’t know what else to say, “i’m sorry.”
cyno allows a faint smile to grace his lips. “i’ll forgive you this time, [name]. honestly, i’m just relieved you don’t hate me.”
“i could never hate you,” you say immediately.
“it didn’t feel like that this week. or last.” you look down again, disappointed that you allowed yourself to make cyno feel that way. he continues, a little gentler: “you’re going to have to make it up to me.”
“how?” you ask, already knowing you would do anything.
“how about you let me take you on a date? granted that’s something you probably want but there, you can tell me everything.”
you wouldn’t say no on any circumstance, but especially not when cyno’s finally smiling at you again. your relationship was off to a more than rocky start, but you find yourself hoping you can turn it around for the better.
the wanderer.
it was hard to avoid the wanderer as you were adventuring over teyvat together, just the two of you. when you first realized your feelings for him, and decided they would only prematurely end your expedition when he didn’t feel the same back, you swore to keep them a secret. to do that, you would need to distance yourself from him, but that proved rather difficult and… well, extremely obvious.
you stare into the flames of your small campfire. you sit opposite of the wanderer, though on previous cold nights like these, you probably would have been right next to him. similarly, you both would have trading stories and reminiscing about past adventures, not blanketed in this silence.
it’s clues like those, coupled with the equally obvious signs that you were had feelings for him, that let the wanderer discover your plan.
the wanderer leans back, resting on his elbows. the sun was setting, and already the stars would come out. on clear nights like these, you would spend hours—maybe the whole night—pointing out the different constellations.
looking at you now, eyes boring in the fire, the wanderer knows that’s not going to happen tonight. at least, not if he doesn’t do something about it.
“you’re quiet tonight,” he starts. you glance up sharply at him.
“yeah, i guess,” you mumble, looking back down.
“why?”
you trace circles in the dirt. “i’m just… tired. i guess. yeah, i might just go to bed early—“
“have you ever heard of,” the wanderer cuts you off, “the phrase, ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder?’”
you pause. he can’t possibly know… can he?
“i’ve know of it,” you reply tightly.
“so then you also know that you’re little idea of ignoring me in hopes that your feelings go away was doomed from the start, right?”
startled, you look back up again, and meet the wanderer’s gaze. you meet the wanderer’s gaze, and like all the times before, you know there’s no use in lying to him. not when he already suspects the truth. “i… yes.”
“and i assume you didn’t want me knowing because you didn’t think i liked you back?”
your silence is answer enough.
“well, you’re right.”
what.
what?
but then the wanderer cracks a smile, and he’s beside himself laughing: “oh, you should’ve seen the look on your face.”
“you’re the worst.” but now there’s a smile on your face, and you’re also laughing: at him, at your plan, at how despite your fears, the wanderer likes you back.
it makes you feel giddy, like you could spend the entire night laughing under the stars—and looking at the wanderer, now coming to sit next to you, you feel like you just might.

By your side from day one <3
finally set aside some time to finish off wilds turn for being self aware, the smartest one who found a way to get out without breaking your tv and getting the glass shards of screen everywhere. I'll be back on requests and such soon though!! <3
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
“Come on [name], you can’t be serious about missing out on plans just to talk to someone you don’t even know is real.”
“You say like I would want to go clubbing tonight either way, besides he’s said he’s just been working up the courage to video call.”
“And you trust that?”
They’ve got enough of a conscious to look a bit ashamed when I look at them, I know they’re worried for me but of all the things to be so worked up about this seems harmless.
“What if I told you that he was messaging me and telling me to stop talking to you.”
“Can you show me the proof.”
“Well… no. he deleted them immediately afterwards.”
Are they just jealous? This is so unlike them that it’s offputting. I know they can get a little worked up when I get close to other people but accusing my online friend - accusing wild - of threatening them? It’s petty and childish. Are they afraid I’ll replace them or something?
“Okay, alright. This isn’t going to make me cut him off you know?”
“[name]...”
“Reach out when you don’t feel like senselessly trying to cut me off from others. I’ll see you around.”
Hopefully, it’s sooner rather than later, but if they don’t? It’s their own fault they thought they would need to sabotage my other relationships to get closer to me. They even have the audacity to call out after me as I’m leaving, still trying to warn me about him, like they can’t accept I would dare get close to anyone else. Not like it doesn’t feel awful potentially losing a friend like this, but what can I really do?
The trip home seems to pass in a blur, until I’m already collapsed onto my couch with a familiar notif going off on my phone. Opening it proves it is exactly what I expected it to be, a message from him, asking me how my day has gone showing me more care than nearly every other person in my life ever has. Not expecting me to drop everything on a dime for him, even if recently he’s been getting more possessive in his messages like he wants to be serious when I’ve never seen his face.
- I’ve been decent, met up with a friend. Not much really, you? -
- Had to do chores for someone I don’t like >:( wanna get away from everything tbh -
- why not just up and leave? -
- I mean, it’s not like I haven’t been planning something -
Seems like the possessive streak has worn off now then, so I don’t have to worry about mentioning friends again. There isn’t even a reason he should be possessive of me though, unless he’s got a secret crush or something. Which I hope he doesn’t, he’s been speaking to me for barely a couple of weeks.
- You free to call tonight? It’s been a while. -
- I’m good rn if you are. I’ll just grab my headphones - one sec -
- :DD perf perf -
Honestly a call will be nice, I can just zone out for a bit, play some games and chat. It’s the perfect way to destress after everything that happened earlier, I still can’t believe they threw away our friendship over something so small. Maybe I should just block their number and drop them even if they do try and apologise, I don’t really need people like that in my life.
“So then love, any plans for tonight?”
“I thought you said you were gonna drop calling me that?”
“It’s silly and you didn’t answer my question anyway.”
“Nah not really. I’m just loading up breath of the wild, been a bit since I’ve -”
“Oh shit.”
Has wild been link this whole time, wait - how did he get access to the internet, HOW IS HE SENTIENT?
He’s just sitting in his hateno house, holding the sheikah slate like a phone and silently, through the switch anyway, talking. The look of horror on his face is gut-wrenching though.
“You - you…”
“Oh - uh - I mean. Come on love it’s not that bad is it? I - I’m not going to hurt you, I swear.”
“I don’t think I want to deal with this right now… I’m sorry I just.”
The look of horror and shame shifted terrifyingly fast when he noticed me moving to turn off the switch, replacing itself with fear and anger before he steeled himself, and presses his hand against the slate’s screen?
He - he’s reached through my phone to grab onto my wrist.
“No, don’t turn me off, I can’t go back to being just a voice. Please”
“How… how are you DOING THIS?”
“That… Isn’t what matters right now.”
His grip feels so nervous, he looks it too - which makes sense, I would probably be petrified if I lost my body just because I was trapped in a game. I can’t turn him off that would be cruel… he deserves better than that.
It instantly lightened as I moved to sit back down, a sigh of relief echoing through both my tv speakers and my phone, as he let go the second I sat with his hand retreating through my unbroken phone.
“Okay, you promise you won’t try to turn me off?”
“I won’t if you’ll explain.”
“That - that’s fair, I can do that for you love and - if I told you that I think I’ve figured out a way to get out? Would you let me live with you?”
“So that’s why you were so forward abou- yes you can. When you’ve explained everything. And made it certain you’re not planning to kill me because you’re scared of me sending you back.”
The reverb’s stopped now, which makes talking a lot more pleasant and less like he’s trying to intimidate me now, not that I blame him for it if I was about to condemn him back to that hellscape. I just, I really hope he isn’t trying to get out just to kill me, I don’t think I would ever be able to get over my childhood crush wanting to kill me even if he has every right to want that.
“What- No no I don’t - why - why would you think I would ever want to even hurt you let alone KILL. I - love I. I love you. That’s why I’m doing all of this - I - I.”
He’s crying. I should’ve known that he wouldn’t do anything like that - it’s within his right to - but he’s link, he’s the hero, the protagonist who was stuck to my side through it all. I know I shouldn’t have said that it wasn’t meant to be cruel but it was careless enough to hurt him.
“I’m sorry, I came on to strong, you - you have every right to be scared of me. I promise though love I - I will never hurt you ever.”
“I know… I just panicked. You can explain now I won’t overreact again I swear. Or if you’d prefer -”
“If I would prefer..?”
“Why not get out first, then explain?”
Lighting up a firework in my face would have been less blinding than his smile in that moment, it’s such a sweet smile - a genuine one too. Meaning that I said the right thing, that I’m doing the right thing by giving him this chance.
Hopefully, I won’t regret it.
“Really? You’ll let me do that?”
“I think it’s a good idea, it’ll be easier to talk to you as well. Just - how are you going to go this?”
“Um, oh, well uh, I think I could possibly make your switch into a mock version of a warp medallion? Then link my slate to it and just well”
“That makes sense, you can go ahead then, shouldn’t take long right?”
“No, no it won’t.”
A couple of seconds was all the wait it needed for him to stumble out of the blue lights and right onto me, clearly disorientated by the shift into reality. Probably not as bad as any of the 2d links would have struggled to be fair to him. It was an even shorter wait for him to jump onto me and cling even tighter than a koala could ever hope to, nuzzling up against my neck like it’s the only - because - it’s the only real touch he’s ever felt.
“So you want to explain then?”
“Could we wait? That took much more effort than I thought. I just want to rest a bit if that’s alright.”
“As soon as you’re rested enough to. You going to sleep for a bit then?”
“No I still want to talk, just about something less taxing?”
Seems like he’s more dodging the topic than anything, which is fine I can get him to talk about it later, there really isn’t a rush for anything. It’s fine. Besides he’s like an excited kid that’s staying up way past his bedtime right now, where’s the harm in staying like this for a bit?
“Mind if I ask why you’re so determined to call me ‘love’ then?”
“Because you’re everything to me, my light, my love, my life - you’ve been with me through everything. From when I woke to killing ganon and you didn’t abandon me there. You’ve shown me your favourite cities, stuck with me when you had the choice to choose others because you said I am you favourite, so really? How could I not love you?”
“You were aware even in Mariokart?”
His giggle is sweet, he’s so charming right now, especially with how unaware of it he is. It’s so earnest and unfiltered, just so raw, I could go the rest of my life with that being the only thing I ever hear again. Compared to how he acted in cutscenes as well? He’s happy. Tired but happy.
“Oh before I forget, You should be expecting a delivery actually!”
“What.”
“I’ve been wanting to get out of the game for a while so I ordered some things to try make myself more appealing to you.”
“Like what? Link you didn't need to do anything like that.”
He just shrugged, seems like I won’t be getting an answer to that till whatever arrives whenever it does. Seems he really wasn’t lying about being tired though, he’s already starting to fall asleep laying against me like this. Thankfully he’s light enough to move to a more comfortable position, although theres nothing I can do about how tightly he’s holding me and truthfully? There’s nothing I want to do about it.
“Y’know I think I could get used to this.”
“Yo’ will I pr’mise, I’ll make you addicted to m’.”
“Well that isn’t ominous at all… and you’re already asleep.”

Like I Can - Pt. 3
Pt. 1 / Pt. 2
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1.7k
Tumblr media
You see more of Melissa in the weeks after your one night stand. Not quite as much as the beginning of your friendship, when you saw her without fail every weeknd. Still, more than the near nothing you’d been growing reluctantly used to.
You still spend more time with Barbara than your favorite redhead, but you’re pleasantly surprised on the evenings that she joins both of you. It’s one of those surprise evenings where she surprises you further.
You’re already at a table at one of your favorite restaurants across from Barb when Melissa strides to the table, apologizing for being late. Like every other time she’s suddenly joined you, you only smile and say you’re glad she’s there. You are. It’s been much nicer to see her and know what’s going on from her than through Barbara.
Occasionally, you feel the knife stab you a little deeper beneath your chest. When she’s laughing. When she’s loose and carefree in a way you know she only really is with you and Barb. Still, you’re never upset to see her and you aren’t disappointed by her appearance tonight.
You’re all nearly through your meals when Melissa snaps her fingers like she’s forgotten something. “Barb, the kids mentioned game night next weekend. You think Gerald will forgive you for missing one Saturday night?”
Good-naturedly, Barbara’s eyes are rolling. “It is a Saturday night tonight.” She points out with a look your way that is meant to convey exasperation. Except you know Barb is very rarely actually so fed up with Melissa. You’re the same way. “I assume you’re hosting?”
“Well, I ain’t goin’ to Janine’s, that’s for sure.”
“Oh, the other teachers.” You laugh slightly. “You said kids. I thought you were going to have all your little students running around for a second.”
“Oh god, no. You know I love my little eagles but they ain’t comin’ to my house that’s for sure. Janine is lucky she gets to.”
“Melissa!” Barbara chastises. Or, she tries to. Except you’re laughing and Melissa is smiling at you. It doesn’t really land.
“Hey, you should come, Y/N.”
“Me?” You scoff, waving Melissa’s invitation off. “Come on, I’m not going to get in the way of your teacher bonding time.”
“You wouldn’t be in the way. ‘Sides they’d like you.”
“You just want me there so you can have me on your team and guarantee you win.”
“Maybe! It ain’t my fault Barb has us on a losing streak!”
“I do not!” Barbara protests from across the table.
You sigh, pretending to think it over. You are tempted. More time with Melissa is hardly anything you’d say no to. Still, you’re hesitant. These are the people she sees every day. You’ve heard a little when Melissa tells you about her days and what’s gone on but that’s hardly the same as meeting these people. And then spending an evening in Melissa’s living room with them. In competitive mode over games on top.
“Alright, I’ll come but Barb has to be on our team, too. She’s better at trivia than you, Mel.”
Melissa pretends to be offended, a hand to her chest at your trivia comment. “I won trivial pursuit the last game night we had, thank you very much.”
“Did you sneak in extra sports questions?”
“No! I did win on one though…”
“Of course you did, Mel. Just text me when to be there.”
By the time Melissa texts you about game night and what time; you’d nearly forgotten you agreed to go. You don’t panic though. For some reason, knowing both Melissa and Barbara will be there, you aren’t nervous to meet the others. It might help that you know Melissa doesn’t just let people into her house. Not easily at any rate.
Once you’re stepping into Melissa’s living room, Barb has already beaten you there. Not the others. You would guess having those she’s most comfortable around here first makes inviting the others a touch easier. You barely say hello before she’s handing you a cold beer from the fridge.
The others trickle in over the next half hour. You understand now all the little comments Melissa has made about them as you meet them and the small chit chat that ensues as each of them arrive. Janine is sweet but definitely too peppy for Melissa. You suddenly understand each time Melissa said she would keep coffee as far away from the younger teacher as possible.
“Traitor!” Melissa teases when you pair up with Barb one game. You merely roll your eyes at her, it’s a two person team rule and she’d been claimed by Jacob for that game. Otherwise you probably would have picked her yourself.
You find yourself sprawled across Melissa’s couch. Barb had been the first to leave that night, as you expected. She wasn’t one for late nights in the entire time you’d known her. The others had stuck around a bit longer. Now, it’s just you and Melissa.
The two of you had mostly cleaned up her living room, ignoring some of the empty bottles and other drinks. Now, her television is on. It’s playing one of the reality shows Melissa loves that you don’t pay much attention to. Though you’re learning them and the drama in them through osmosis.
You’re next to Melissa, your legs stretched over her lap. Your thighs rest in her lap more than your legs or feet. One of her hands is idly messing with your hair as she watches the screen. You don’t remember how this is how you two ended up but you aren’t complaining at all. It’s perhaps the most content and safe you’ve felt in a long time. You struggle to remember when you last did.
“Hon?”
Melissa’s soft voice calling to you has you blinking. You’re almost worried you fell asleep. You may be on your way but as your eyes refocus on the television screen you realize it’s still the scene you last remember so you couldn’t have fallen asleep just yet. You likely won’t be awake much longer though.
“Hm?” You wordlessly answer her. Her fingers are gently rubbing a mindless pattern at your temple.
“You gonna see that woman again? The one from a couple weeks ago?”
You blink at the television set, your half awake brain slowly turning over her question. “No.” You finally answer. You’re too tired to be worried about what the right thing to say is. Too tired to be worried about how you sound, or accidentally saying something will tip the redhead off to your feelings.
“You didn’t like her?”
“She was fine.”
Melissa laughs, just a little. “Fine. Yeah, that’s how you said she was in bed, too.”
“Mel…” You groan. You trail off, letting your tone and the following silence convey your plead for her to not get started on that again.
“You just…deserve better is all.” Melissa finally says softly.
“Yeah, and you deserve better than Gary.” You grumble in response.
Her fingers stop their movement against your temple. You feel her freeze beneath your thighs still draped over her lap. You go to sit up but her hand presses lightly to your shoulder to keep you in place.
“What’d you say?”
“Melissa…”
“No, no. Say it again. What you said.” Melissa urges. Her hand is still lightly pressing into your shoulder still.
“I said you deserve better than Gary.” You repeat quietly.
“You never liked him.” She says. Definitively. Just like she did after you first met him. She knew then. She knows now.
“He’s fine.”
Melissa laughs. Enough that her head throws back against the back of the couch. She tips her head forward again. Her smile touches her eyes when they refocus on you. “Fine is what you say when you’re tryin’ to be polite, ain’t it? Gary is fine. Your girl from a few weeks ago is fine. You really wanna say they kind of suck, don’t you?”
“No! She really was fine. I told you I’m not really interested in the one night stands and all.”
“And Gary?”
“Gary is…you like him.”
“He’s fine.” Melissa says with a small smirk down at you. “How do you feel ‘bout him though? Don’t worry about sparing my feelings, Hon. I wanna know.”
“He’s nice enough. I might like him if he weren’t dating you.”
“What’s him dating me got to do with it?”
You sigh. “Melissa. You could do better than Gary. You could have any guy you wanted, in a heartbeat. I know Joe, bein’ Joe, made you think differently. I watched him hurt you plenty of times while you tried to work things out, and then through the divorce process. You don’t have to settle for just a….nice enough guy.”
“Any guy I wanted, huh?”
“In a heartbeat.” You repeat.
“What if I didn’t want a guy?”
You blink up at Melissa. In the time you’d known her she’d ever spoken about men, gone out with men. You hadn’t even considered her with a woman. Even though that little bit of hope in your heart for it still lived on with your feelings for her. Still, you’d never even entertained it being possible with how much you’d seen her with men.
“I…wouldn’t have expected you to be into women, I guess.” You finally stammer out.
“Why not?”
“You never talk about women. I’ve seen you pick up plenty of guys at the bar. Then of course Joe and Gary.”
“I experimented in college. Like a lot of people do.” Melissa shrugs. “I lean toward men, usually heavily, but I wouldn’t call myself straight.”
“You did once tell me if Barb wasn’t with Gerald you’d make her a Schemmenti.”
She laughs again, nodding. “In another life, absolutely.” Melissa doesn’t hesitate in backing up that drunken comment she made to you forever ago. “So, you think I could get a woman?”
“In a heartbeat.” You breathe out the repetition. You know for certain Melissa could land a woman just as easily as she could a man; or anyone for that matter.
“And if I had a specific woman in mind?”
“Do you? Have a specific woman in mind?”
Melissa only looks at you for a long, drawn out moment. You have half a mind she’s memorizing your face for some reason you don’t know. “I think it would take a specific one, for me, personally, y’know? Like you said…no secret I like men but if a certain woman got to my heart and all…”
“What are you saying, Melissa?”
“I’m saying…I’m saying we both deserve better, Y/N. We both deserve better and I…I wanna be the better you deserve.” Her fingers brush at the small hair near your temple tenderly. “You’re the woman I want.”

2012 Raph x reader Incorrect Quotes
Uhm...mostly, that is. There's a few that are just random TMNT 2012 incorrect quotes. This was very fun for me. Might do it again sometime if the mood strikes.
***
(Y/N), skipping rocks on a lake with Raph: It’s such a beautiful evening.
Raph: Yeah, it is.
Raph: *whispering* Take that you fucking lake.
***
(Y/N): Why does Leo always do the laundry so loudly?
Raph: So everyone knows that no one helps them out in the house.
Leo, in the distance: *slams the washing machine shut*
***
Raph: You’re giving me a sticker?
Mikey: Not just a sticker. That is a sticker of a kitty saying “me-wow!”
Raph: I’m not a preschooler.
Mikey: Fine, I’ll take it back-
Raph: I earned this, back off.
***
Raph: Why am I always the bad guy?
(Y/N): Well, why am I the pretty one? We all have our thing.
***
(Y/N): Is Raph always like this when they lose?
Mikey: Oh, yes. You should've been there for the fabled 'Great Jenga Tantrum'.
Raph: yOU BUMPED THAT TABLE AND YOU KNOW IT!
***
(Y/N): Hey, wanna help me commit arson?
Leo: What the hell!?
(Y/N): Oh, sorry, my bad.
(Y/N), whispering: Wanna help me commit arson?
Leo, whispering: Of course. What do you need?
***
Casey: You know what bothers me? Bats. Why can bats fly?
Raph: Not again...
Casey: No. Seriously, who gave them the right? They're mammals! Mammals walk on land, no exceptions.
(Y/N): Just wait until you hear about whales.
Casey: What now?
***
Casey on Monday: *glues a dime to the sidewalk* Heh heh heh.
Casey on Wednesday: *walking down the street* Ooh hey! A dime!
***
(Y/N): When I met you I thought you were a real bitch.
Raph: What changed your mind?
(Y/N): Oh, I still think you’re a bitch, I’ve just grown to like that about you.
***
Leo: When I said you should try being friendlier this isn't what I meant.
Raph, stirring a cup of tea aggressively: Oh, so now I'm TOO friendly? There's no pleasing you.
(Y/N), who broke into their house an hour ago: Two sugars please.
Raph: Coming right up.
***
Casey: It’s funny how well you and Raph get along. Didn’t they hate you at first?
(Y/N): Raph hates everybody at first. It’s their way of reaching out to people.
***
Casey: We can bake these cookies at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or 4,000 degrees for 1 minute.
Donnie: No, that's not how you make cookies.
(Y/N): FLOOR IT!!
Casey: How about 4,000,000 degrees for 1 second?!?
Donnie: yOU'RE GONNA BURN THE HOUSE DOWN-
Casey: I'M GONNA HARNESS THE POWER OF THE FUCKING SUN TO MAKE COOKIES!
Raph: DO IT!
Donnie: NO-
***
Raph: What the fuck? People actually tell their crushes they like them??
(Y/N): What the hell do you do?
Raph: I die? What kinda question…
***
(Y/N): I made this friendship bracelet for you.
Raph: You know, I’m not really a jewelry person.
(Y/N): You don’t have to wear…
Raph: No, I’m gonna wear it forever. Back off.
***
Raph: *sneaking in through their window*
Leo: *turning in their chair and flicking the light one* You want to tell me where you've been all night?
Raph: I was with (Y/N)?
(Y/N): *turning in their chair* Wanna try again?
***
Raph, at (Y/N)'s funeral: I need a moment with them.
Everyone: Of course. *They leave*
Raph, leaning over (Y/N)′s coffin: Okay, listen here you little shit. I know you’re not dead.
(Y/N): Yeah, no shit.
***
Raph: (Y/N), I don't like you.
(Y/N): What did you say?
Raph: You heard me!
(Y/N), internally: And it turns out I actually didn't hear what the fuck you just said.
***
*(Y/N) sneezes*
Raph: (Y/N), are you sick? Here, let me wrap you in a blanket and hand-feed you some warm soup while singing you a lullaby!
*Donnie sneezes*
Raph: Oh my god. Shut the hell up.
***
(Y/N): Okay, but what if we went to dinner not as friends this time?
Raph: ...So...as enemies??
(Y/N):
***
Raph: WHOEVER CAUSED THIS MESS IS GOING TO-
(Y/N): It was me...
Raph: ...Is going to be forgiven because everyone deserves a second chance.
***
Kidnapper: I have your partner.
(Y/N): What? I don't have a partner...
Kidnapper: Then who just called me a lowlife bitch and spit in my face?
(Y/N): Oh my god, you have Raph.
***
Raph: I want to kiss you.
(Y/N), not paying attention: What?
Raph: I said if you die, I won't miss you.
***
*(Y/N) is crying after a breakup*
Raph: There there, (Y/N).
(Y/N), still crying: Thanks, but how did you get into my room?
Raph: Great question—
***
Raph: *yawns*
(Y/N): Yeah, being that pretty must be tiring.
Raph: Then you must be exhausted.
Leo: Will you two shut up? Some of us are lonely.
***
Raph: Watcha doin?
(Y/N): Stealing my neighbour’s cat.
Raph: Scandalous.
Raph: Can I help?
***
(Y/N): Come on, Leo. Nobody actually believes that Raph is in love with me.
Leo, to The Squad: Raise your hand if you think that Raph is helplessly in love with (Y/N).
*Everyone raises their hand*
(Y/N): Raph, put your hand down.
***
(Y/N): Someone take me to art museums and make out with me.
Raph: But they said not to touch the masterpieces.
(Y/N): Well somebody's got to pin the artwork to the wall.
Leo, on a walkie talkie: This is Leo, those idiots are fucking around in the East wing again.
***
Mikey: I dare you to kiss the next person who walks into this room.
Raph: Screw that, I’m not kissing anyone.
*(Y/N) walks in*
Raph: Fine, I’ll do it. Rules are rules you know.
***
Raph: If you want my advice-
Donnie: No offense but you’re the last person I want relationship advice from. You tried to kill your significant other. Multiple times.
Raph: First off, that was before we started dating. Secondly, they’ve also tried to kill me.
(Y/N): It’s true. It was mutually attempted murder.
***
Casey: Time sensitive question how flirt boy.
Raph: Throw rocks at he.
Mikey: Hot Dogs.
(Y/N): Kill him.
Casey: Thanks guys.
***
Leo: Why do you look like that?
Raph, laying face-first on the floor: Like what?
Leo: Like you’re dead.
Raph: It’s because I’m dying. Fuck off.
Casey: Raph accidentally called (Y/N) “babe” in front of everyone today.
Raph: *sobs into the floor*
***
(Y/N): I'm so happy, I could kiss you!
Raph: Um...Neat.
*later*
Raph, lying face down on their bed: I said "Neat," Donnie. Who the fuck says neat these days?
It's not neat to say neat but I said it anyways because I'm fucking stupid.
Donnie, reading a book: Don't beat yourself up too much, Raph. Everyone gets nervous sometimes. Remember what I did when Casey confessed their love for me?
Raph: Didn't you thank them?
Donnie: *closes the book and looks at the ceiling* I fucking thanked them.
***
(Y/N): How would you like your coffee?
Raph: As dark as my soul.
(Y/N): Got it, one cup of milk coming right up!
***
(Y/N): Raph, I need some advice.
Raph: You need advice from ME?
(Y/N): Yeah, frightening, isn't it?
***
(Y/N): *sighs* I have no friends...
Raph:
Raph: *coughs* Bitch, what am I? A roach?!
***
Leo: You need to stop swearing so much.
Raph: Shut the fuck up.
Leo: Yeah, that's not how you do it.
Raph: Alright sorry. It's just that it's hard not to swear. The words just creep up on me when I least expect it.
Leo: Now now, don't be like that. Just replace the swear words with 'beep' and you'll be fine.
Raph: Shit the beep up.
Leo:
Raph: SHUT, DAMMIT! I MEANT SHUT!
***
Raph: *is throwing stones at (Y/N)'s window*
(Y/N): You have a phone for a reason, Raph!
*THUD*
(Y/N): DID YOU JUST THROW YOUR PHONE AT MY WINDOW?!

Our Present
Part two to Our Future
Tumblr media
Richie walked back into the party, confused about what had happened. He attempted to push it into the back of his head as he watched Eva and her friends run around the backyard trading friendship bracelets. He smiled to himself as he got his phone out of his pocket to take a picture to send you.
After singing Happy Birthday, eating ice cream cake, and opening presents, Richie was finally alone with Tiff. “Oh hey- I thought you left.” she laughed as she picked up empty paper cups to throw in the trash. “Yeah… what did you say to Y/N? She kinda just left… said something about talkin’ to you.” Richie asked, watching Tiffany lose the color in her cheeks. “Richie, I didn’t say anything. I swear.” Richie shook his head, “Nonono, Tiff, you said somethin’... I wanna know what you said.” she sighed and put the trashcan she’d been carrying through the living room down, “Okay- I guess I did say somethin’...” She leaned against the wall, avoiding eye contact with him. “What did you say?!” Richie demanded, trying his best not to yell, “Calm down.” Tiffany warned, crossing her arms over her chest. Richie paused, “Okay, I’m sorry, but what did you say to her?”
“I think I gave her perspective?” Tiffany swallowed, “On what?” Richie’s face scrunched in frustration. Tiffany pushed her hands through her hair, “Okay, Richie, we’d been together for two years when she was born-” “Tiffany. What did you say.” Richie crossed her arms over his chest and stared down at Tiffany. She entered the kitchen, “I asked if she wanted to travel or get married or have a kid someday…” “I need to get out of here before I lose it.”
“Daddy?” Eva asked from the top of the stairs as Richie huffed toward the door, “Hey, sweetheart.” he faked a smile, “Are you mad at Mommy?” he shook his head. “Don’t worry that pretty lil head about it. I had fun at your party- did you have fun?” Eva nodded, and Richie’s face softened. “That’s good… Happy Birthday, princess. I love you, okay?” Eva nodded. “I love you too, Daddy.”
As Richie pulled into his parking spot, he noticed your missing car. Richie felt his heart rate increase as breathing became harder. He haphazardly parked and ran up the stairs. He struggled to get his key in the lock but opened the door, “Baby! You here?!” Richie yelled as soon as he’d entered the apartment. When he got no response, he walked toward your shared bedroom. He noticed your missing shoes from the cubby by the door. He shook his head, refusing to believe you’d leave him without saying anything. “Yo. Baby?” he opened the bedroom door to see the bed made and more of your possessions missing. “No. No. She wouldn’t…” he fished his phone out of his pocket and hit your contact. It immediately went to voice mail. He hung up and dialed again as he paced through your bedroom, looking into the closet to see that some of your clothes were missing. “Baby. Answer the fuckin’ phone.” Richie sighed into his phone when your voicemail came through his speaker.
Richie walked back into the main part of the apartment and saw a note on the counter. “Sorry to leave you like this, but we want different things. My Dad said he’d come by to pick up the rest of my stuff later in the week. -Y/N” Richie stared at the paper with disbelief. He shook his head, crumpling the paper as he exited the apartment, slamming the door on his way out. You weren’t leaving him like this.
Richie knew your parents weren’t his biggest fans, but you had to be there. Your car wasn’t parked outside their building, but you had to be there. Richie couldn’t let you leave him like this. Maybe he should have followed you when you’d left the party? He knocked on your parent’s apartment door to reveal your mom, “Richie. What are you doin’ here?” she questioned, surprised at his presence. “Hey, Mrs. Y/L/N, have you heard from Y/N?” “She left your ass, Richard.” your Dad laughed. Richie scoffed, “Have you heard from her?” Richie asked again; your mom nodded. “She said something about self-discovery? I’m not sure; she was a mess.” Richie nodded. “Thank you… can you call me if you hear from her?” she nodded. “I will, Richie.”
Anger, hurt, confusion… Richie was ripping his hair out at what had happened between the two of you. He thought the two of you were on the same page about marriage and kids. He was sitting at the bar working on the front-of-house schedule when Lily, a friend from your serving days, approached the bar. “Hey, Richieeee…” she grimaced. “No.” Richie answered without looking up, “Richie, I asked Milo and-” “I don’t care. Answers no.” Lily sighed, “Fine. I guess I’ll just tell Y/N-” “Lily. Walk away before I fire you.” he huffed before walking back to the kitchen and into the back alley.
Before turning the corner to go to his usual smoking spot, he heard some busboys talking about you, “Should I try to shoot my shot again? Y/N’s so fuckin’ hot now.” “Dude, she rejected you last time you tried.” “Yeah, but now she’s on the rebound- bleached her hair, postin’ sad shit on Instagram… I think I have a shot.” “You fuckin’ wish. She’s like a relationship girl, not a rebound girl.” Richie clenched his fist before quickly turning around to go back inside. He needed answers.
A few weeks had passed since the breakup, and on a rare day off, your Dad showed up at Richie’s apartment to pick up the rest of your belongings. While he didn’t like Richie, he could also see that his daughter was a bit harsh in how she’d ended the relationship. The two men awkwardly stood in the living room, “You want a beer or somethin’?” Richie asked, “No. I don’t like you, Richie, but it was cold of Y/N to break up with you the way she had.” Richie chuckled. “Yeah… where is she? She blocked me, but I gotta talk to her.” “You didn’t hear it from me, but she’s at her friend Connie’s place.”
You slipped your headphones off when you heard yelling coming from outside your bedroom door. “She’s not fuckin’ here!” Connie yelled as you got closer to the door. “That fuckin’ bullshit- her car is outside!” Richie’s voice boomed. You swallowed before leaving the bedroom, “Connie, it’s okay- come on. Let’s get this over with.” you said, beckoning to Richie. He stood there in awe for a moment before sheepishly nodding.
The two of you stood awkwardly before Richie finally piped up, “Y/N, you can’t just fuckin’ leave me like that.” you sighed. You knew it wasn’t the right way to end the relationship, but the thought of this. conversation triggered many memories from the past, and you couldn’t face Richie. “Richie-” “No. No. This is all bullshit. Just come home, baby.” he pleaded. You shook your head, “Why not?! Do you not love me anymore?” he asked, trying to fight back the urge to throw you over his shoulder and just take you home. “I love you, but I want to get married and maybe have a kid or two-” “Okay. Let’s get fuckin’ married then,” he interjected. You sighed, “Richie, I want you to want to marry me because you want to-.” “You said it was just a piece of paper. What fuckin’ changed?” he was struggling to contain his feelings at that point. “Just- Richie, please just go home.” you pleaded as tears started to form in your eyes, “I love you, Y/N. You wana get married- I’ll marry you. You wanna have a kid- I’ll give you a fuckin’ baby. I want to be with you, Y/N. Just come home, baby.”
You stared down at the floor until you felt Richie’s hands delicately grip your hips. As he pulls you closer to his body, your hands move to his chest and gently push him away. “You should leave Richie,” you whispered, not daring to look up at him. Richie sighed and dropped his hands. You felt his thumb under your chin and allowed it to push your chin up and finally meet his eyes. “I’m not givin’ up on this. Just think about it. Okay?”
Weeks passed, and you couldn’t shake your feelings for Richie. You tried to write it off as your first real relationship. Of course, it would take a while to get over. However, it seemed like everything had just reminded you of him. You tried to focus on your work; you tried to distract yourself with stupid reality TV. You were going to the gym every night. Lily tried to convince you to download Tinder to get your mind off of Richie, and Connie was team ‘get back together with Richie because you’re pathetically in love with him and should’ve never broken up in the first place’; you were stuck between a rock and a hard place. While you couldn’t get the man out of your head, could you really just be happy being his girlfriend forever? You stared up at the ceiling when your phone started vibrating next to you. You sighed and rolled over to see the caller ID was Carmy, “Hello?” you quickly answered, wondering why he’d be calling you at almost midnight. “Come home already.” Richie’s voice came through the speaker, “You took Carmy’s phone to call me?” “The jagoff’s passcode is 1111. He was askin’ for it.” “Dumbass is gonna get his phone stolen.” “He left it in the office- practically askin’ for it, ya know?” “Yea… I miss you.” “Then come home.” “I don’t-” “Y/N, just come home. I need you- I’ve been think’ a lot. I wasn’t the best husband to Tiff, and I guess I'm just scared I won’t be a good one to you either- GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE CARMY I SWEAR TO FUCKIN’ GOD!” “Can’t really yell at Carmy to get out of the office when you snagged his phone, Richie… but, um, I get what you’re saying.” “Yea?” “Yeah.” “Come home?” “Okay.”

don't go - lando norris
oh no not another friends to lovers blurb with lando heheh... also ignore the title?? when it comes to titles, i can't think of anything creative 🙄
word count: 840
Tumblr media
“can i send you my location later, i’m going on a date later and you’re the only person i trust to pick me up if it goes bad,” you ask your best friend, lando. you were finally putting yourself out there and meeting up with a bumble match. however, while the guy seemed really sweet, you were still a little bit nervous about actually meeting up with him, and you didn’t really want to turn into an episode of dateline.
“what do you mean you’re going on a date?” lando asked, completely ignoring whatever he was doing. “with a stranger? y/n, are you insane?”
“lan, i can’t be single forever, so i’m meeting up with this guy from bumble,” you say, and his eyes widen.
“like hell you are,” he says, shaking his head. “i am not letting you meet up with a stranger you met on a dating app.”
“you do it all the time,” you counter, and he rolls his eyes.
“y/n, that’s to hookup, not date,” he says, and now it’s your turn to roll your eyes. “there’s a difference.”
“lando, you’ll have my location, and i promise i’ll text you if he seems sketchy,” you say, trying to reason with him. it really wasn’t his business whether you went on the date or not and you were currently regretting even mentioning it, but you didn’t want to make him mad, so you just tried to calm him down and explain that it would be fine if you went out with this guy.
“no, y/n, i’m not letting you go,” he says, and you let out an exasperated sigh.
“what the hell is wrong with you?” you ask, and his eyes widen at the tone of your words.
“what do you mean?”
“don’t play dumb, lando,” you say, rolling your eyes again. “i just asked you to pick me up if the date went bad, and you’re acting like my dad. i can go on the date if i want, and if you don’t want to pick me up if he’s sketchy, then it’ll be on your conscience if i get murdered.”
“y/n,” he says with a sign, running a hand over his face. “you’re not getting murdered.” you let out a humorless laugh, and he glares at you.
“well, i’m going on the date and i don’t have anyone i trust to pick me up so i might get murdered.”
“please don’t go,” he says, and you pause, bringing your eyes up to meet his. obviously, you’d been arguing for the past 10 minutes, but something about the way he said these words made you stop. “please, y/n. don’t go on that date.”
“why?”
you watch as his mouth opens and closes again, and he sits there for a minute before speaking, “go on a date with me.”
what.
you stare at him open-mouthed for a minute, trying to process what he had just said. lando wanted to go on a date with you? lando, the guy you’d been friends with since you were kids? the guy who’d always been a part of your life, the one who’d comforted you after breakups, and injuries, and whatever else life had thrown at you.
“y/n, please go on a date with me, i don’t want you to go on a date with any other guy,” he says again, breaking you from your thoughts. “i’m tired of pretending that i’m not in love with you.”
“lan, you’re my best friend,” you say, but as the words leave your lips, you realize he’s always been more than that. when you pictured a future, a family, it was always lando there. when you pictured having kids, it was always the idea of lando teaching them to drive, or taking them to the playground, or whatever else you had conjured up in your mind.
“i know, and you’re my best friend, but i’ve always wanted more and i want to take that next step, if you’ll let me,” he says, and he reaches his hands out to grab yours. you let him take your hands, and you can’t ignore the feeling that floats over you as your hands rest in his.
“lan, are you sure? i don’t want to lose our friendship,” you say, and his eyes meet yours, traveling over your face. his gaze is so intense that it makes your skin heat, and you just know that your cheeks are turning red.
“y/n, i promise that i won’t mess this up, i’ve been waiting for this moment forever and i would be an absolute idiot if i did anything to mess that up. it’s always been you, y/n.” his words are so gentle, but they carry so much weight, and you feel a smile splitting across your face. “now can i please kiss you?”
“yes,” you say, biting your lip and his hand travels to the back of your neck, pulling you into him until his lips are resting against yours. you smile against his lips, relishing in this moment.

Kissed by the sun — Pablo Gavi
You're two idiots in love, or also called, friends, who begin to discover your feelings on a trip with your families, after spending so much time together.
word count — 1,6k
gavi's masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were childhood friends with Gavi, both of you knew each other so well that you could easily recognize each other’s gestures and realize what you meant without the need to use words. For example, you could notice when someone of you wanted to leave some uncomfortable place through a gesture, or when you needed the other to interrupt the conversation, or when something happened and you didn't want to talk about it yet.
You were soulmates and your relationship was merely platonic.
Gavi had a few days off without any match for Barça and your families arranged to go on a trip. It was a one-week trip. Both of you were happy with the idea of enjoying the beach and basically spending time together.
But Gavi was a little different these last two days, he was quieter than usual and he looked at you differently. He wasn’t the same and you could sense that something was happening to him. He was treating you like you were a delicate person, and he looked at you with a silly face. Gavi was even easily distracted when you spoke to him, as if he couldn’t keep his thoughts in a thread.
So you decided to confront him.
"What happened? You wanted to make a joke and now you regret it? I discovered you."
Pedro kept in silence,
"Am I close?"
"Not even a little bit."
The next time you asked him, he told you nothing was happening to him, that you were imagining things. So you came to the conclusion that when he felt like telling you was right, he was going to tell you. And you were going to wait, because after all, you were friends.
It took Gavi one day to finally open his mouth. You were both sitting on your beach chairs, sunbathing on the beach. The waves collided and your families were in the sea.
"Okay, maybe I have a little crush on you. It’s recent."
You would never have expected the Pablo you knew would tell you that, the same Gavi you fought to steal his food from, the Gavi who talked to you and treated you like a sister. Never, ever, would you have thought that he might have any feelings for you. Or anything small as a silly crush for you.
"Oh."
Gavi didn’t seem too convinced of your answer.
"I wasn't sure about telling you, we are on vacation together with our families and I don’t want to lose your friendship. I don't want things got awkward after this"
"This doesn’t change anything between us, Gavi. It’s fine."
But, his confession changed things. You started noticing different things about him. Not as a friend, but as a lover. Like the way whenever he got mad at something stupid, he’d make a pot. His brown eyes started to look beautifully to you and you started counting his moles. His face was now tanned by the sun and the summer was too good for him.
You paid attention to the way Gavi looked at you with that smile, and you wanted to be the only one he gave it to. Without anticipating it, you had also begun to develop a crush on him. A crush on your childhood best friend, weird, right?
"Can we have a date night tonight?" you asked, as you looked at your phone. Both of your families were gone, so you called Gavi to stay with you in your bedroom. Aurora was there too, but she was too busy speaking with her boyfriend.
"A date like friends, right?"
"Yes, I mean, like we always did before."
This time, things were different. The tension on the Uber could be cut with a knife, you didn’t know what to talk about and were silent. Once you got to the restaurant, a place that had marine decoration, some people came over to ask for pictures and autographs, and while you were waiting for Gavi, you sat alone at the table. He didn't take long, he sat in the chair in front of you.
"I’m here, are you okay?"
"I've missed you."
He smiled at you, "It was only five minutes, dramatic."
"Well, we were constantly together for the last four days."
Both of you were incredibly nervous. It was probably the first time in the trip that your family or his family weren't close. You were alone, just the two of you.
"You’re blushing, bonita."
You covered your cheeks with your hands, he was right but you were never going to agree.
"I’m not, Gavi. I was just kissed by the sun."
"You’re so adorable. I'm jealous of the sun, because I want to kiss you."
"Just shut up."
He was probably lying or not saying that seriously. You’d always thought Gavi was adorable, but now the feeling was getting stronger. You were afraid to do weird things if you also admitted your silly crush on him. You didn’t want to create false expectations, even if you were sure of what you felt. It was all very recent, and you had a friendship of many years.
"About my sister... I told her about the little crush I have for you, so if she says anything, or you’re uncomfortable, let me know. She can be a little weird with some things."
Suddenly you felt more nervous. You shared a bedroom with his sister and she had never said anything. Once you finished eating and after talking, you headed to your current house. The families hadn’t arrived yet and the only one there was Aurora, Gavi’s older sister. Aurora greeted you with a hug, looking at her brother and winking at him.
"There's my favorite girl."
"And there’s my favorite Páez Gavira sibling."
"Shh, watch out that Gavi is going to get jealous."
"I’m not jealous." Gavi replied instantly, stepping forward to open the refrigerator and grab a bottle of water.
While the siblings were chatting, you apologized and went to the bathroom. Not only did you want to pee, you also needed a moment to think about you and Gavi. Having a date had been weird, more so when now you weren’t just two friends, there were feelings involved as well. You returned quietly to the living room and unwittingly, you heard a conversation that was between the two.
"When will you tell her you’re totally in love? I wouldn’t say it’s a silly crush, you’re in love to the bone, Gavi."
"I don’t want to ruin our relationship, what if I tell her the truth and she walks away? I don’t want to lose a friend because I fell in love with her."
You went back to the living room when they stopped talking and you acted like you hadn’t heard the conversation. You sat in the middle of the two and played FIFA with Gavi. The moment your friend said he was going to look for something in the kitchen, his sister came closer. You watched her raise his eyebrows, making a hint.
"When are you gonna tell him?"
"About what?"
"You have to tell him how you feel, I’m tired of seeing that none of you seem to notice. You're two idiots in love."
"I’m scared to tell him the truth and our friendship will be ruined."
Aurora laughed, "You will have the same relationship, it will only change that you will kiss and be more romantic, the rest will be the same. If you two already behave like a couple, anyway."
You thought about that. The moment Pablo came back, Aurora made an excuse, saying she had to go and do something. You kept playing with Gavi at the Playstation. You both laughed and fought because you were competitive. Gavi was competitive for everything, not just football.
"Hey, Pablo."
There was silence, he was focused on the screen. You called him back and he turned to look at you. His brown eyes were beautiful.
"What’s up? Are you cold? I can turn on the heat or I can give you my jacket."
"No, I’m fine," you took a breath. You were in summer, by the way. After thinking about that, you knew it was now or never.
"Remember when you told me the other day you had a crush on me?"
"Yes."
"Do you still have it?"
"Why do you ask?
Gavi looked at the screen again and you gave him a pull of hair, so he could see you again.
"Answer me, dummy."
He looked you in the eye, so it seemed like an eternity. You thought you had to repeat the words, because maybe Gavi hadn’t listened to you, or that, too, it might have been that he was stunned to see you. A second later, he finally spoke.
"Yes, and it gets stronger every day."
You smiled. It was weird, it was weird to feel happy about that. You were one decision away from improving the relationship you had or ruining it at the root.
"What if we kissed to see what we felt? To clarify our doubts?"
Gavi just nodded, saying nothing. He left the joysticks aside to sit face to face. He was the one who joined his lips in a kiss, when he did, everything was so obvious. There was nothing you could say to hide the truth. You felt things, butterflies in your bellies. It wasn’t a single butterfly, it was a dozen.
"I also have a silly crush with you, Gavi."
"Mmh, should we keep kissing all day long to clarify your doubts?"
"No need to clarify, but I'd like to kiss you forever."
Sadly, your families returned back too soon.

✤ Enemies to Lovers ✤
A series of posts with the top five fics of each category by kudos plus five more hidden gems from that category! Remember to leave kudos and a comment on the fics you enjoyed to show your appreciation! You can find our other recs here.
- Top 5 H/L Fics -
1️⃣ Unbelievers by @isthatyoularry {E, 136k}
It’s Louis’ senior year, and he’s dead set on doing it right. However, along with his pair of cleats, a healthy dose of sarcasm and his ridiculous best friend, he’s also got a complicated family, a terrifyingly uncertain future, and a mortal enemy making his life just that much worse. Mortal enemies “with benefits” was not exactly the plan.
Or: The one where Louis and Harry definitely aren’t friends, and football is everything.
2️⃣ Soft Hands, Fast Feet, Can't Lose by dolce_piccante / @haydolce {M, 112k}
American Uni AU. Harry Styles is a frat boy football star from the wealthy Styles Family athletic dynasty. A celebrity among football fans, he knows how to play, he knows how to party, and he knows how to fuck (all of which is well known among his legion of admirers).
Louis Tomlinson is a student and an athlete, but his similarities to Harry end there. Intelligent, focused, independent, and completely uninterested in Harry’s charms, Louis is an anomaly in a world ruled by football.
A bet about the pair, who might be more similar than they originally thought, brings them together. Shakespeare, ballet, Disney, football, library chats, running, accidental spooning, Daredevil and Domino’s Pizza all blend into one big friendship Frappucino, but who will win in the end?
3️⃣ Collision by itjustkindahappened / @tequiladimples {E, 226k}
Mythology/Fairytale!AU in which Louis is a dainty fairy with a temper who wants to be intimidating and Harry hurts people. Naturally, they hate each other.
(Featuring Liam, the big and not-so-bad wolf who’s got a thing for humans, Zayn, a human with supernaturally good looks, and Niall, the cupid who just wants his job to be easier.)
4️⃣ Flightless Bird by audreyhheart {E, 97k}
AU where Louis Tomlinson is a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet. When his rival from ballet school, moody dance prodigy Harry Styles joins the company, old wounds are reopened and old passions reignited. During the company's production of Swan Lake the secret that doomed their love is finally revealed, but will it be too late?
5️⃣ don't make this easy (i want you to mean it) by wildestdreams / @thelavendrhaze {E, 24k}
“Harry’s a player. All he does is chat everyone up. And guys like him are just--so ugh. He’s got that arrogant, self-assured smirk plastered to his face all the time. Always smug and stupid, like he could get anyone he lays his eyes on. All he does is make me mad and laugh all the time like he knows something that I don’t. That is so annoying.”
“But that’s just Harry,” Niall shrugged at Louis. “He doesn’t even try to flirt or anything. He’s just naturally charming, but that doesn’t mean he’s a player nor that he’s trying to get into everyone's pants. He’s just friendly. And he likes you. He doesn’t usually fall for people, but he fell for you.”
“Oh, should I feel special then?” Louis asked, snorting and rolling his eyes.
or Harry’s a frat boy who is head over heels for Louis and Louis wants nothing to do with him.
HIDDEN GEMS:
💎 An Amazing Race Around the World (And to my Heart) by Thingssicant / @slowlyseducedbycurls {E, 89k}
“This year marks our thirtieth race around the world, thirty seasons of teams bound by friendship, family, and even some people who just band together for the chance at the prize. But this year, we want to remove that dynamic,” Phil said, rubbing his hands together gently.
The cameras were whirring around them, trying to get every shocked face and gasp from the teams. Louis could feel a ringing in his ears, a new nervousness he hadn’t felt during the entire journey to this competition.
He was sweating more now, more than he could blame on the California sun, as Phil started to read the names of the new teams, the members hugging their loved ones before joining a complete stranger in their new allotted spot.
Or an Amazing race Hate to Lovers au
💎 no heart for me like yours (no love for you like mine) by @phdmama {E, 46k}
When Harry Styles, wedding dress designer to the stars (sort of) and Louis Tomlinson, wedding planner and relationship expert (kind of) meet on the occasion of their sisters' engagement, sparks fly. But not the good kind. Louis thinks Harry is a dick and Harry thinks Louis is an asshole.
That doesn't last long.
The road to true love isn't always smooth or uncomplicated. Can two stubborn men find their way?
💎 an ocean in my veins (you'll be diving in) by me_her_themoon / @dreamersdivin-headfirst {E, 31k}
But, since Niall is so talkative to literally anyone with a working mouth, it means that when Louis Tomlinson started to take a shine to him, Harry started to hate him.
Because suddenly, it wasn’t just Harry and Niall, and whoever else wanted to join their antics. It was Harry and Niall and Louis.
Did Harry mention that Louis is a stupid fucking prick? He wants to make sure that’s clear.
[or, harry and louis hate each other and niall just wants everyone to get along]
💎 Spinning Out Waiting for You by amomentoflove / @daggerandrose {M, 18k}
Harry Styles is a year and a half away from graduating with a masters in potions and he has one huge milestone to reach in his academy career: the Matching Ceremony.
From Halloween night until graduation, matched witches and familiars will have to create a talisman to be a physical representation of their bond. One for the witch and one for the familiar. Most pairings last an entire lifetime.
If only it were that simple.
💎 Can't Buy My Love, Can Buy Me Dinner by LadyAJ_13 / @ladyaj-13 {G, 9k}
Is it ethical to accept a dinner date for the free food? And will you hate me when I go anyway?
Fact 1: Louis hates Harry Styles. Fact 2: Louis is temporarily living off toast and spaghetti hoops. Fact 3: ...Louis may be semi-accidentally dating his worst enemy.

「 inazuma summer session 」
Tumblr media
“you should tell him,” yoimiya chirps, her arms snaking around your shoulders to slump over you. “what’s the worst that could happen? he tells the whole country he rejected you?”
your gaze finally turns from AYATO in his pristine blue yukata, enjoying the food at the festival stands and no doubt torturing the poor vendor with his demands and suggestions.
“yoimiya!” you huff. “don’t be so loud.”
“he’s like a billion miles away, you just have tunnel vision.” you can feel her teasing grin.
really, what could go wrong letting the loudest girl in the nation know who holds the key to your heart? you couldn’t last a second against her knowing smile and feline gaze. your dear friend is also a master extortionist.
“at least tell ayaka. i’m sure she’d understand,” yoimiya suggests, calming down. it’s a good thing her emotional intelligence prevents her from blurting it out to everyone.
“no way! what if she hates me?” you turn around worried. “i can’t throw away years of friendship just because i have a stupid crush on her brother!”
yoimiya hums. “to be fair, the crush is also years old.”
you shake your head. “no way.”
she sighs, finally plopping down beside you. “well then, it’s another summer of inaction. i can’t believe you’re leaving me hanging when you could be giving me juicy details about how the commissioner—”
“yo-i-mi-ya!” you cover your ears, heat rushing to your face.
“i didn’t even finish,” she mumbles. “you have a dirty mind, my dear (name).”
the remark cause even more heat to flood your cheeks and before you can respond, you notice yoimiya signalling to someone in the distance.
“who was that?” you try to turn your head but she places her hands around it to keep it in place.
“ah! i have to- uh- i have to go launch the fireworks! wait for me at our spot, alright?”
you furrow your eyebrows but you can barely get a word out before she’s disappeared in a flash.
“my lord?”
you whip your head around to the source of the voice, only to find ayato’s gaze locked straight in your direction. you look behind you in a panic, just to make sure, and turn back to return a shaky wave. the yashiro commissioner really shouldn’t be having this effect on you.
you almost don’t notice thoma and ayaka share a look before she covers her face with her fan, shakes her head and snaps it close. her face is positively beaming and she nearly runs over to you—unusual of a lady, as she says.
“my, you’re quite excited today, ayaka,” ayato remarks, pace slightly increasing to catch up while poor thoma makes a dash behind them with boxes of snacks.
“i had to drag my brother out, (name),” she huffs, a familiar look of determination in her eyes. you’ve only ever seen it when she’s swordfighting. you blink in surprise.
“i’ve always believed in you!” she announces, hands curled up into balls as she holds them up. “all the best!”
thoma looks like he’s in physical pain with how obvious ayaka’s made it. “...my lady?”
“thoma, will you accompany me to the dango store? i’m quite frustrated with brother’s ideas.”
ayato frowns, genuine surprise flashing over his eyes for a fraction of a second. “you never said that, ayaka.”
ayaka takes shallow breaths before walking over to the stores down the path. thoma gives you a slight nod and small grin before trailing behind her.
“well, that was quite... odd.” ayato’s eyes narrow, his face slacking as he goes deep into thought.
you think he looks quite handsome like this.
you clear your throat to rid yourself of the thoughts. you don’t want some sort of awkward air settling between the two of you.
“oh!” he exclaims. “i didn’t mean to lose myself there. though i suppose i have an answer.”
you tilt your head, and the faintest shimmer passes over ayato’s eyes at your soft movement.
“shall we head to the fireworks viewing spot, dear?”
there he goes again. you’re sure he calls you dear just to tease your poor heart out of your ribcage. and you’re sure your soul will fly straight to your grave if this continues—for his hand brushes ever so lightly against yours on the short journey up.
no, it really will because the brush turns into a firm grip over your hand.
“ayato, you’re surely—“ he’s teasing you, isn’t he? you can see him laugh despite himself.
you furrow your brows, a pout following.
“a festival is the best place for this, isn’t it? i’ve always wanted to visit on a night like this.”
you drop your pout when you see him take in his surroundings. there’s so much he’s missed. and you’ve foolishly waited for all these years. you’ve seen him grow up from a boy just trying to protect his sister into the capable yashiro commissioner he is now. this is his first time enjoying a festival too, and not just organizing it. surely, you can be a little less selfish on his account.
the moon is full and bright tonight. if only you’d get to tell him, if only there weren’t years of wasted chances between the two of you.
though you’ve noticed, the distance between the two of you now isn’t much.
you tug at his sleeve, making him turn around. his eyes linger over you for longer than they should, pools of whispered confessions, and you can’t wait anymore.
“i love you!” you blurt, your eyes closing in panic. “and i want to spend so much more time with you, it’s killing me. ayato, i...”
you stop yourself and open your eyes to see the wonder on ayato’s face. the sound of your voice rings terribly loud in your ears, and you almost fail to notice the bright fireworks behind you were it not for ayato’s eyes traveling towards them. you turn around, a smile adorning your lips immediately. nothing ever makes you quite so speechless, quite so content as fireworks. this time, they’re blue like the kamisato crest with a baby pink center like yumemiru leaves. you’ve adored these trees for the longest time—and each summer memory associated with this place. yoimiya surely didn’t have that in mind, did she?
ayato takes a step forward to stand beside you, and when you look at him, his gaze is already on you. the eye contact makes you shy away.
“they’re beautiful,” he whispers. “as ever.”
“did- did you hear what i said?” you ask nervously, your outburst flooding into your memory as you try to keep the embarrassment at bay.
“i’m sorry.” ayato gazes at you with a placid expression. “i didn’t quite catch that.”
your heart drops. you don’t think you can quite build up enough tension to say that again.
“it’s nothing, ayato,” you whisper meekly.
“oh? i would’ve loved to chat over some tea.” a small smile has come to bloom on his face. “a little... date, is it?”
you breathe in sharply, and the discomposure from that noise causes you to go silent for a few seconds.
“i cleared my schedule for you tonight—if you’re willing to accompany me, that is.”
“of course!” you respond far too quick, the blood in your veins racing at an impossible speed.
what curbs the embarrassment of nearly choking over your own words is the gentle grip over your hand leading you down the yumemiru-lined path. surely, and you say this with confidence, there will be no more summers of inaction.
