I need more unbreakable bond meeting fics where Sonic decides that he's gonna adopt Tails pretty much immediately
Don't get me wrong I adore the "oh I'll let this kid tag along for a little while and then eventually find a family to take care of him I better not get attached (lol jokes on you mf you've got a brother for life)" so much but I also love the exact opposite
I'm in love with the idea that Sonic saw this tiny little injured traumatised abused baby fixing his plane and his first thought was "this is my kid now"

Man. I just can't help but imagine Critical Role x Baldur's Gate 3 drabbles or a fic or something of that some sort. Idk, I just think it'd be really funny and also a chance for some really cute scenes. Especially with the Mighty Nein.
Now obviously there'd probably be SO much mistrust between the two groups, but just imagine if you will(possibly very minor spoilers under the cut):
Caleb and Gale(and maybe Essek) talking about wizard stuff and cats.
Jester introducing everyone to Artagan. I think Astarion would either like him or fucking hate him.
Karlach, Yasha, and Beau just working out together. Buff lesbians
Fjord and Wyll bonding over shitty patrons. If it's post Ukatoa then Fjord giving Wyll some hope about his situation. I just think it'd be sweet.
Caduceus and Halsin. That's it. I think they'd talk for literally HOURS, just drinking tea and talking about random shit and their respective circles 'n such. ALSO, I'm just imagining them sort of gossiping about and spilling their respective party's secrets to eachother. They'd be silly lol
Jester overhearing the whole convo with Astarion and Tav(if there's a tav in this??) about him not being able to see his reflection and immediately getting to work drawing a portrait of him. As soon as she shows and gives it to him, he's his usual sorta sassy self about it but he absolutely cherishes it.
Also I feel like Astarion would see different bits of his own past in some of the Mighty Nein, specifically Caleb and Yasha, and it'd piss him the FUCK off.
Jester and/or Molly reading the groups fortunes just for fun, the Oracle of the Moon Deck has some cards that would make the groups fortunes REALLY INTERESTING. Maybe Molly also pulls out some of the old circus tricks for fun.
On the topic of Molly, I think Lae'zel would have this very confusing respect for Molly? She'd find them really foolish at first and not think much of them, but I think she'd then see them actually in combat and be impressed with their skills.
I feel like Nott/Veth would just start mothering some of the bg3 party. Like not heavily, but a bit similar to how she does with Caleb. I could def see her pairing up with Astarion to steal some shit. Maybe King joins in if he's there.
Jester giving some of the group tattoos. Not everyone would get them obviously but I could definitely see Karlach and I suppose Tav going for it.
Nein Sided Tower shenanigans. That's all.

remember when I was so mentally ill I was in hospital for 10 weeks (and they only let me go bc my health insurance stopped paying) and I got so unhealthily obsessed with 1 nurse I would sit by the nurses station for all her shifts and draw pictures of her and even SLEEP on the bench by the nurses station when my new meds were knocking me out and write weird poetry and
and she's like, she's just sort of, she's a very regular person, prob in her 40s? polar opposite of me in every way, we even went on a walk and every time I pointed out a plant I liked she was like ':/ we can have different tastes it's fine' and had v different opinions about animals and such
but like, she spent most of a Sunday with me brainstorming keeping on top of tasks at home (the nurses rly don't do that they're very busy!) and she was the only one who read the note in my file about how being woken up is triggering so on morning shifts she'd just stand in my room and talk to me instead of waking me up like the other nurses did
and when I'd put off seeing a gastroenterologist for literal years (I'd been in and out of there for most of this time so she knew this) and her being like 'edwina. call them' is what made me actually do it
and whenever I was on leave she'd call me like immediately after my return time to tell me I was late
IDK MAN LIKE. I'm thinking about it. bc I was so WEIRD about it, there was no reason for me to fixate on her that much, I was DREAMING about her. it wasn't a crush it was some other beast, I dunno. she came to check on me during therapy and she wasn't on screen but my therapist was immediately like 'was that [nurse]' bc whenever I was interrupted I'd get annoyed but when she did I was like 🥰🥰🥰🥰 sorry I'm in therapy rn is it important? 🥰🥰🥰🥰
idk why I'm remembering this. I guess I just like that old feeling of obsession, it's so rare and it hits so randomly nowadays, and doesn't last long. that 10 weeks was a nightmare (I attempted suicide after I got out lol) but I think about my unhealthy fixation on this random nurse with fondness

I'll admit that it took me almost seven years to both understand and appreciate Octavia as a character, and it's partially because of how she was initially portrayed, though in hindsight it makes a lot more sense now.
We get to know Octavia as the girl who had to hide for her whole life, who was punished for being born, and whose mother was floated for giving birth to her.
At first, Octavia seems to be this naive young girl who needs protection from her big brother. Then she becomes this defiant girl who keeps pushing the rules and boundaries, and truth to be told, this annoyed me at first, like "hey, your brother is trying to keep you alive, and you're just trying to make his life harder".
But then she progressively turns into that girl that desperately seeks connection and a place/people to belong to, but in the process of that search, she also turns into someone who, for one reason or another, starts killing people left and right. Especially when they're in the bunker, I started to question her motives, and at that point I was pretty much outright annoyed at her solving every problem through deciding that people needed to die. Back then, those actions made her character seem so flat and unlikeable.
But then I realized something - something very, very important: OCTAVIA WAS STILL ALMOST A CHILD.
Okay, yeah, that's slightly exaggerated, but does not make this any less true. Octavia is, canonically, anywhere between 16 and 17 when they get to earth. That girl's brain hasn't even fully developed yet, and she has already faced a lifetime of trauma and lack of social interaction/learning. But instead of this being a fresh start for her, it only turns into a brutal reminder of what she's been through and how much she doesn't belong. Of what she has missed out on. Of what ADULTS have put her through. She was punished for existing, and she realizes that she's done with them. She's not going to forgive them for what they've done and fuck, that is one of the sanest things we see on that show.
And it's one thing that she walks away - and a whole other to survive on earth without belonging to any group. But she somehow manages to find her people and quickly figures out how to survive - and she also learns that life on earth also often means death. And as a side note: Despite it being the norm that literal children are trained for war and death on earth, I will still criticise how easily Octavia was groomed for the role she would later take on. That girl was looking for family - not to be turned into a leader who had to decide over life and death. In a way, that does not make everyone involved any better than those who punished Octavia on the Ark, simply because Octavia had little to no saying in her own fate without severe repercussions.
And AGAIN, by the time she wins the conclave, she is still a minor! Freaking hell, an actual minor, no matter how mature she has to be, is supposed to decide the fate of all of humanity? I mean, what the hell, WHAT THE HELL? And she does an absolute remarkable job at it, too, and she does not nearly get enough credit for that.
It is only then that we actually see her struggling, like truly struggling, and saying that she doesn't want to be a leader to all those people. But does she have a choice? Of course not! Which, quite frankly, is not something I am willing to forgive those around her, no matter how extreme the circumstances might have been. So of course Octavia has to somehow figure out how to keep all those people alive and from killing each other, and honestly, that would have been a damn near impossible task for a grown ass adult. Instead, they put that burden on her, an almost child that grew up isolated and in fear and there is just. no. escape. I am honestly amazed we didn't end up seeing more psychological damage after all of this, though I am certain that girl didn't have a good night's sleep a single day of her life, so there's always that.
All that to say: Octavia was used and abused by everyone she was supposed to be able to trust. First she fell victim to laws on the Ark (laws she did not actively break) and then she was used as a chess piece in a seemingly never-ending war. She never got to just be herself, first she was the poster child of ruthless laws, then of ruthless wars and honestly, if she had one day snapped and killed every single person around her, I would have been fine with that, too. But she did not, and damn, what an incredible - though forced - strength she has shown, even after everything that's been taken from her and everything that's been demanded from her.
She is not this bratty, naive 16-year-old girl - she's always been this isolated, scared 16-year-old girl who has been asked to do things that no one should have asked of her to begin with, but she still rose to the occasion and somehow survived it all, which easily makes her the most compelling character on this show, and I'm sorry that I did not see that before

@exhausted-pigeon you taunted me now deal with the consequences.
I don't really have one interpretation of him, I have several.
Do you know that post that says that comics are a bit like ancient myths, and how a character may have many sides, depending of what story is being told? Yeah, this is mostly how I approach comics, with only one difference, comic characthers aren't immutable, so they can change and evolve.
You see, a comic book character exists beyond the pages, it exists on the popular imaginary, it exists on movie adaptations, tv series, animated series, games, and so on, and often those media interact with each other, see Harley Quinn, for example, who was created for the animated series but later was properly introduced to the comic universe. And why this is relevant, you might ask, because, well, the character doesn't exist as a hard and well defined character, it exists as several interpretations.
For me, as a fan and not a DC writer, is useless to find who is the Real Jason, he doesn't matter for me. Several writers have written and published their interpretation of Jason, and sometimes contradicting each other, so instead of trying to find a coherent narrative of who is Jason Todd I rather accept there are many, and then I play with them depending of the situation and the story I want to tell.
For me, there's the Angry Jason, the Jason who didn't forgive Bruce and never will. This Jason is more violent with his methods, more ruthless on the streets, he isn't afraid to face Batman or any other bat. He does what needs to be done, and has no intention of playing by any rules that not his own. He's unpleasant to be around, and more often than not the only thing he shares with the kid who died is the memories, because even the name Jason Todd is foreign to him.
I have the Broken Jason too. This Jason awoke in a world that moved on without him, and had nothing to cling on except his name and his memories. This Jason is angry too, but he's also hurt. He lashes out because that's the only way to make sure he's going to make a difference this time. His violence it's not because he wants to punish the world, he's violent because he's afraid of the clock ticking against him. He wants to make as much difference as he can before he dies again. He wants to accept the family back because he didn't had that the first time, and he wants to know how it is, to have a safety net and people to have his back.
I have the Grieving Jason. This Jason mourns for the kid who died, and who lives this second life to make sure that kid never die again. He's his own protector. He is violent because if this is what it takes to stop it all, then he'll do it. He doesn't hate Batman and doesn't think there's anything to forgive, Bruce did the things he thought right, and it wasn't enough, so Jason himself will fill in the voids. This Jason is more melancholic, his death was something that changed him so deeply that he is no longer the same person as before.
I have other Jason's too, altought not by name. I have a Jason that never really changed, and he is the exact same Jason as before, but it's easier for everyone to pretend he's not. I have a Jason that only needed a bit of time to understand things. And I could keep going forever. For me, all those Jason's exists in the comics, it's just a matter of highlighting certain characteristics.
The most permanent interpretation of Jason that I have is actually more of a set of values I consider the core of the character. I think he's a very emotional person, who cares too much and has hard time letting people go, even after they do him harm. I think he has his own moral code, that may vary depending of the interpretation, but always include saving people rather than punishing the agressor. I think he has a hard time separating justice from revenge, and when he does he has a even harder time deciding which path to choose. I think he's a bit too dramatic and likes to act like he's the main character in the story. I think he's too brave for his own good.
I hope this makes sense

My grandpa, the closest elder relative I had passed away this Monday. He had a sudden health complication that I won’t go deeper into, bless his soul though, he was a chill dude who took me bird watching and fishing as a kid &  shared an interest in history But yes, he did unfortunately pass recently Now here’s the thing His birthdate was the same as Elizabeth II’s, he was some years younger though, but the date was the same And guess what Guess freaking what There’s some strange connection here He has mentioned the shared birthdate before, and here it is again You guys. This is so wild to me

really love dynamics that are like 'it honestly doesn't matter if you view them as romantic or platonic, the point is that they love each other. the type of love is inconsequential, all that matters is that it's there'. gotta be one of my favorite genders.

my top bit of advice going into the new year: compliment people. especially strangers. literally everyone you interact with if you can. when you buy coffee in the morning compliment the barista's tattoos. when you're chatting with a coworker tell them that by the way you like their outfit. always find something they've chosen to do on purpose. nail polish, jewellery, tattoos, hair colour/style, statement accessory, outfit, etc are all good bets. things people hope will be noticed. things that aren't too personal so it doesn't make them uncomfortable (eg probably not their physical features). i've gotten into the habit of scanning everyone i talk to for something about them that i think is cool so i can tell them. it's a great habit because it makes me notice people and realise just how many neat little details there are in people's presentation of themselves that might pass me by if i wasn't paying attention. and it brings out so much joy. you'd be surprised how much it disarms people to receive an unexpected compliment from someone they don't know. it is the most sincere smile you will see all day long. it feels nice to make people happy but it also means you win the social interaction. establish dominance by complimenting a stranger's earrings and disappearing into the fog
