Miraculous escape - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 |
Tumblr media
I wasn’t planning to post this yet, but it’s Lukadrien June and today prompt is ‘escape’ and, even if it’s only Lukadrien friendship (bc it’s Lukanette & Adrigami endgame), it fit so well that I couldn’t stop myself from posting this. Chapter 1 and the final chapter have been finished for months, but I don’t know when I’m going to continue with the rest...
This fic is based / inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Some like it hot’ film.
Thank you @alittleshycat for the header and wanted posters pic! ( I hope you’re doing well... I miss you... 🥺💙 )
Thank you @brickercupmasterx3 for proofreading! 💙
Summary:
Luka helps Adrien escape from his prison-like house and his strict father but Gabriel Agreste is not planning to let them go away easily. They become fugitives and ask Juleka for help, who offers them a very unconventional escape plan: joining a girl band/orchestra to flee the country.
Easier said than done, especially when they find something unexpected in that band: the two most beautiful women they've ever seen.
Warning: includes art

Chapter 1: Fugitives
"My father is going to kill me."
"Your father is going to kill us."
One carrying a guitar on his back, and the other a piano keyboard case on his hand, two musicians were being chased by multiple cars around Paris. Turning corners, going up and downstairs, hiding behind trash containers and cars, the chase seemed far from an end anytime soon. Panting for air, the pair continued running after they turned the corner, just in time not to be seen-  a close call. The loud sirens never seemed to stop, coming from all directions.
"I can't believe I finally escaped from home!", the young blond man exclaimed excitedly. "Thanks, Luka. I wouldn't have made it without your help. You're a real friend."
"Don't mention it, Adrien. That's what friends are for, right?", the blue haired man laughed and patted his back. "It would have been perfect if we hadn't broken half of your father's statue collection while escaping your bodyguards, though. Now he's gonna kill us for sure. We can't let them catch us!"
"We need to run away from Paris. And fast! My father is the devil itself! You don't want to know..."
"I don't!"
Jumping down a wall, and turning another corner, the two friends hid in the back of a funeral car and waited until the police sirens got further away. They had been scolded for being disrespectful with the dead, but it was worth it: they were safe- at least for now.
"We need to leave the city and find a place to stay. Knowing your father, he must have all stations, roads and airports under his control." Luka said, stopping Adrien from crossing the street to firstly check their surroundings.
"How are we going to do it? Our car became 'inoperative' during the chase and our friends and family must be monitored!"
Adrien's panic made Luka grab his shoulders to reassure him of their plans.
"No, look. They know you, but they don't know much about me. Not many people know I have a sister who lives here, in Paris."
"You do?"
"Yes. We need to make it to her apartment and then we’ll figure out how to proceed. Are you ready to run again?"
"More than ready. I'm excited!" Adrien grinned back at Luka, feeling an adrenaline rush.
"Let's go!"

When Juleka opened the door of her apartment, she wasn't expecting to meet her dumbass older brother and Adrien Agreste, the young man who had been on the news non-stop for the last two hours. She raised one eyebrow and Luka knew she was looking for a reason not to shut the door on their faces.
"Juleka! We need your help! We have to get out of the city. Could you lend us your car?"
"What the heck is wrong with you!? It's been two years and that's all you have to say? What kind of trouble are you involved in now? This flower boy has been in the news for hours! They are even offering a reward for whoever finds him! And one for you! A dead or alive one in your case! They're saying you kidnapped him! So you better have a good explanation or I'm kicking you out."
"I do, I do! Listen: remember dad? I know you were little, but do you remember what being trapped is? That's this man's, Adrien's, everyday life for you. I couldn't bear to see my friend like that anymore so I offered to help him escape" Juleka's eyebrow sank deeper towards her nose, meaning Luka knew that wasn't good news. "I had to help him get his freedom! Can you believe he has never had a burger? Or been to a drive through? He can't even drive a car! He literally crashed my car at a streetlight after mistaking the gas and brake pedals! Have some compassion and help us escape Paris. Please?" he finished, pleadingly.
Juleka's eyes moved to analyze Adrien before answering: blond rich guy, well dressed and innocent looking. The way he was trying to figure out her front door and how his green eyes curiously examined his surroundings made him look like a playful cat, and Juleka had no doubt that he was as dumb, or probably dumber, than her older brother. Which meant Jukeka wanted them out, but also that she couldn't refuse to help- otherwise they would surely not make it out alive.
"Fine. What do you need?" She resigned.
"A car or anything that takes us away from Paris! No, better! Out of the country!"
Adrien was still examining Juleka's old and untidy room when she noticed his eyes paused on a paper on the table. She knew that paper: a girl band/orchestra called "Miraculous" was looking to recruit experienced musicians to perform around Italy for three weeks. Suddenly, she knew what to do.
"Join that girl band, the one in the pamphlet", Juleka suggested, pointing at said paper.
"What? A girl band? We're men, Jules! We can't join a girl band!"
"Luka is right!" Adrien quickly agreed.
"No, it can be done. I'm good with makeup and I'm tall enough for my clothes to fit Adrien. We can use some of Mom's clothes for you. ‘Old style’. Oh, and I have some wigs too.” Juleka continued. "Can this blondie play any instrument?"
"Well, yes. He's a pianist," Luka answered.
"Perfect! I'll find a way for you to cover for the pianist and the guitarist of the band: Chloe and Lila. Nobody likes them anyway, and the band members probably don't even remember their faces well, since they joined recently. Nobody will miss them. And it's perfect that you're blond, just like Chloe. I have the perfect wig for you"
Juleka disappeared for a few minutes and came back with a pair of scissors, two wigs and a box of makeup- oh, and wax. The two male friends could feel cold sweat down their backs.
"Wow, you have such a pretty face!" Juleka exclaimed, taking a closer look at Adrien's facial features. "I'll cut your bangs a bit so they don't show under your wig. Luka: do yourself a favor and go shave meanwhile."
"Are you serious about this, Jules?" Luka asked, moving towards the bathroom sink.
"Of course I am", she glared confidently at him. "Do you want to flee the country or not? I'm getting you out, but you need to trust me."
"Is this really necessary…?" Adrien asked in a trembling voice, seeing how Juleka's scissors were close to his eyes as she was cutting his long bangs.
"It definitely is! The band orchestra is leaving midday tomorrow and we have a lot to do!" Juleka ordered. "I can't wait to wax those hairy legs of yours" she murmured. Adrien could only gasp in fear.
When Juleka finished, she was proud of her results. The disguises were perfect: a long blond wig on Adrien, tied as a long braid, his big green eyes standing out with the mascara on his lashes, and he had pink colored cheeks and cherry lips. His face and hair were perfectly complemented by a white dress to his knees and a short jacket over his shoulders, covering his strong forearms. He also used some pads to simulate not very large breasts. The final touch was a pair of elegant high-heels with diamond looking glass studs on them. He looked beautiful, prettier than many women. So pretty the Couffaine siblings blushed a little at the sight.
As for Luka… well, he was tall, big and manly, and with sharp features: definitely not easy to pass him as a woman. But Juleka was almost a professional and she did an incredible job. He had his hair cut short so his blue hair didn't show under the long dark haired wig - good for covering his wide muscular back. He was advised to wear a hat and sunglasses most of the time, but he was also wearing lots of makeup. Using a full palette of skin tones, Juleka managed to hide his strong jawline and make his cheekbones, chin and nose look smaller and rounder. He wore black eyeshadow and mascara, brownish red lipstick and natural blush. He looked like an unfeminine lady but that could pass as genetics, right? People would maybe look away, but they would understand. As for his clothes: he wore a long wide purple dress tied with a belt and some brown pirate-like high boots (the only ones that would fit him because they belonged to himself). The bottom half of his outfit was complemented by a grey knit poncho. His fake breasts were bigger than Adrien's and he wore a wine red scarf to cover his neck- especially his pronounced adam's apple. He looked… pretty good, considering the base product. And that alone was an amazing accomplishment.
Tumblr media
"You're perfect. Ready to go. I've packed a pair of party dresses too. You'll need them for your performances" Juleka said, admiring her amazing work. "Oh, and just so you know. I'm also part of the band, so I'm coming too."
Later that night, just before sunrise, Juleka sneaked to Chloe and Lila's apartment to steal their accreditations and sent them fake cards about the train being delayed so they wouldn't appear at the last moment and ruin everything. Juleka smirked victoriously for having at last taken her revenge on the two women she hated the most.
___________________________________________
After nervously passing the first frontier of the train station- the ticket man, Luka and Adrien, who were disguised as women, moved towards the platform, happy for not having been recognized after the first control. Adrien had trouble walking in heels, so Luka lent him his arm to help him keep his balance.
"Remember: your name is Chloe now, and my name is Lila", Luka reminded his friend as they walked towards the train platform.
"I don't like those names", Adrien complained.
"I don't like them either, but it’s better that we don't stand out". Luka sighed.
Grabbing their baggage and instruments, the two men approached the train car written on the ticket. They were stopped before they could get on the train- just next to one of their 'wanted' posters. The two men didn't notice it, but Juleka did and rushed them to get on the train fast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hey, who are you?" Asked a middle aged woman, the one in charge of the band, they assumed. "I've never seen you before. Are you new?"
"I- I'm Adri- My name is Noirette”, Adrien said, receiving equally surprised and annoyed glares from both Luka and Juleka. Before Luka could speak, Adrien continued. “And she's Lucia. We're the new pianist and guitarist of the band".
‘What. the. heck?’ Luka couldn’t believe his friend as he stared at him in annoyance and shock. His high pitched voice acting was hurting Luka's ears too. 'We're dead', he thought.
The middle aged woman showed orchestra at Adrien’s words: she clearly didn’t like last minute changes. Scanning them under her glasses, she questioned them again. "What happened to Miss Chloe Bourgeois and Miss Lila Rossi?"
While the two men were taking too much to come up with an excuse, Juleka, who was sick of their bad acting, stepped into the conversation.
"The talent agency sent them somewhere else. These two are here to fill in for them."
Still unconvinced, she raised her glasses. "Hmmm... you know them, Juleka?"
"They come from the same talent agency as me", Luka’s sister confidently said.
"Hmmm... that should be enough then..." It seemed like she was convinced at last and the two men could finally breathe. “I'm the band's director. You can call me Madam Mendeleiev. And that man over there is Mister Damocles, the manager. You can introduce yourselves later. Go to your seats now.” Before they could take a first step, the middle aged woman stopped them again and called for someone. "Yves! Come here and carry these ladies’ instruments to the train! Be useful for once!"
Luka and Adrien exchanged looks when a young blond man approached them quickly. "Yes, Madam!" He shouted, approaching the disguised men to get their instruments. He stopped in front of them, intensely staring at Luka’s pupils before trying to complete his job.
"Oh. Hello, there. XY at your service! Can I help you, beautiful? Fancy a drink sometime?" He raised his eyebrows twice, shamelessly flirting.
Luka's face went white in disgust. Juleka's chuckle and Adrien's big eyes made him snap out of it.
"Oh, Just carry this, thank you!" Luka answered, annoyed, as he shoved his and Adrien’s instruments and suitcases into XY’s arms, making the blond man lose balance from the pile of weight on his arms. “And take good care of them because they’re… fragile”
"A- As you wish, beauti- Ah!…" He stumbled, losing his balance and almost falling down. “But later that drink-”
"Yves!! Stop the crap and do your job!" Mendeleiev scolded him.
"Yes, Madam!" He straightened his back. "See you around", he winked at Luka before leaving, having trouble walking properly. The guitarist could feel shivers all over his body, while Juleka snorted, having real trouble trying to hold her laugh in.
"C'mon, hurry up!" Juleka pressured them, adding in a whisper "you better not expose yourselves before leaving."
"Thank you for saving us, Juleka." Luka whispered to her ear while getting on the train.
"You better stop acting stupid if you don't want to get caught!" Her response showed her annoyance and the men gulped in response.
The seats were arranged in pairs, so the two fugitives could sit together and relax a bit. They were also grateful for the lack of contact needed with the rest of the band.
The ‘Miraculous band’ was a dancing orchestra. Similar to a big band, but with vocals, a spectacular stage and completely fine for all ages to enjoy. In this case, its main particularity was how it was formed only by women. The band formation included: a rhythmic section (electric bass, electric guitar, drums and electronic piano), a wind section (saxophones, trumpets and trombones) and two singers. Many of the members were usually multi-disciplined in those bands, which meant they could play more than one instrument, just like Luka with the Lyre. Some of the side instruments were the violin, the flute, the maracas or the tambourine. Another particularity of these kinds of bands was the big range of styles in their repertoire: from rock and popular national or international hits to swings, waltz, salsa- anything that could be danced to.
If it weren't for the all girls' rule, Adrien and Luka wouldn't have minded joining them for real. But they had something more important to think about now- running for their lives.
"Is everyone here?", Mendeleiev asked, standing at the train car passage.
"Marinette and Kagami are not here yet, Madam" A dark skinned, red haired lady pointed out.
"Those two again… if they weren't so talented and popular I would have fired them already!"
"There they come!' A small blond short-haired lady screamed, startling Juleka in the process. "Sorry! I didn't want to startle you. My name is Rose" she introduced herself.
"Juleka…" and that's all she could say as she lost herself in that petit woman's eyes.
"What do you play?", the little woman innocently asked. "I play the trombone!"
"The electric bass…" she answered, hiding her blush. ‘Cute, sweet and with lungs of steel?’ Juleka gulped. ‘I’m screwed’.
"Finally!" Madam Mendeleiev said, as the ladies arrived, panting from their run there. "You're late! Go to your seats quickly!"
The two ladies who got in the train, bowed their heads in apology for their tardiness, as they walked to the empty seats of the back of the car. And when their faces looked up for a moment, it was the exact moment Adrien and Luka reached heaven. Their eyes couldn't stop staring at the most beautiful ladies they had ever seen, following them with their eyes and faces as they passed just beside them, moving to sit a few rows to the back. They couldn't take their eyes off them until Juleka called for their attention, warning for their discretion. But it was too late: the boys had lovestruck grins on their faces that didn't plan to go away anytime soon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two ladies had black hair and asian features. The short haired one was taller, had brown eyes and wore a beautiful white blazer with a red skirt. She looked elegant and confident, while the other woman looked cute, clumsy and innocent, and was shorter. She had blue eyes and dressed in a pink coat. Her hair was long and tied in two curly twin-tails. Their beauty stood out even more when they were together.
When the train started moving, Madam Mendeleiev gave the girl band some instructions- something Luka and Adrien would ask Juleka what it was about later. Later, Rose suggested an introduction game for the new members after the explanation had ended. The ladies excitedly agreed.
"I start!" said the same blond girl. "My name is Rose Lavillant and I play the trombone! I studied at a conservatoire in Paris for 3 years before joining this band recently. I like pink and unicorns and my favorite food is strawberry shortcake. Nice to meet you!"
After a round of applause, Rose signaled Juleka to continue, and she passively proceeded. "I'm Juleka. Bassist. Nice to meet you"
Next to continue was the red-haired woman from earlier, Alya, flautist and trumpeter; the drummer, Mylene; another trumpeter, Alix; and one of the saxophonists, Sabrina. It was Adrien's turn next.
"Hello!" He started, with his high-pitched voice. "My name is Ad-" he paused for a second at Juleka's deathly glare, gulping once before continuing. "My name is Noirette. I play the piano! I'm from Paris Classical School and I'm very pleased to meet you all!" He squealed, moving his arms along.
Adrien's excitement for freedom and new experiences was contagious to the rest of the ladies who energetically (almost hysterically) responded "Nice to meet you too, Noirette!".
It was Luka's turn next. He gulped, nervous, and with his fake high pitched voice and under Juleka's death stare, he started.
"Hi... My name is Lu- Lucia". 'I'm killing Adrien for giving me that name' he thought. "I play the guitar. Nice to meet you"
With their introductions over, Juleka finally relaxed. The rest of the ladies' introductions followed but, to be honest, neither Luka nor Adrien were listening: they were just patiently waiting to know more about the ladies that captivated their hearts. Their turn finally arrived, and the short haired one started:
"Hello. My name is Kagami. I sing and play the violin. I've been in the band for a few weeks. My favorite color is red and my favorite food is katsudon. Nice to meet you" a silence followed Kagami's introduction, so she called for her partner's attention with her elbow. "Marinette, your turn!"
"Oh-! Sorry… I was distracted… He-ello… My name is Ma- Ma- Marinette! I'm a singer but I can also play side instruments like the tambourine, the maracas or the castanets. I've been in this band for a few weeks and I studied in Paris Music School. My favorite color is pink and my favorite food is macarons. It's nice to meet you-", she ended with a nervous high-pitched voice.
Luka and Adrien exchanged excited lovestruck grins: the ladies' names and voices were just as beautiful as their faces. They were going to enjoy their outing with the band better than they could have expected.
______________________________
When the car got loud from the ladies chit-chat, Luka and Adrien found their moment of peace to share their thoughts.
“Luka, did you see that?” Adrien started, signaling at the end of the car, towards the singers of the band.
“Yes…I saw.” Luka answered, with a lovestruck grin on his face.
“That beautiful face…”, Adrien continued.
“Sweet voice…”, Luka added.
“Asian features…”, their mumbles continued.
“Dazzling eyes…”
“Dark shiny silky hair…”
The two men reacted at their exchanged words and looked at each other, surprised and nervous. Adrien gulped, worried.
“Wait- who are you talking about?”
“Who are YOU talking about?” Luka threw his question back at him, slightly aggressively.
“That girl, Kagami, of course!” Adrien exclaimed as if it was the most obvious response.
“Oh, that's good. I was talking about Marinette.” Luka sighed and showed him a relieved smile.
“Oh...” Adrien blinked, sighing and smiling in relief too. “I'm glad we weren't talking about the same girl. I wouldn't have liked to steal a girl from you.”
“What makes you think I wouldn't win her over you?”, Luka confidently grinned.
“Oh- anyway- It's better this way.”
The two men laughed together, trying not to be too loud for their manly voices to destroy their cover-ups.
“Will you help me with Kagami?” Adrien asked his friend.
“Only if you help me with Marinette.” said Luka, offering him a handshake he excitedly returned.
“Count on it, my friend!”

The Cafe Pt.I (Rewritten Barista)
As promised, I’m working through finishing my unfinished series - and that includes the Barista AU I had written long ago. I decided it was best to rewrite it considering the first part was originally published 200+ days ago. I’m aiming for 3 parts for this “one-shot AU” but we’ll see where it goes. Please be patient with me - my academic course load is extremely heavy and finding time to write is difficult but I will finish everything I said I would. I’m actually pretty proud of this but if it flops I never wrote it :)
Pairing: Kamilah x MC (Amy)
Word Count: 4505 words I’m shocked (I usually get to about 1600-2000 words)
Taglist: I’m not tagging anyone until I know people want to be tagged for this because I’m nervous and I hate being annoying!!!! If you want to be tagged for a specific pairing please let me know - I’ll try to keep track and remember to actually tag because I’m a forgetful dumbass!
Amy groggily rolled over in her bed, the amount of sleep she was getting had become oddly suspicious because she would never be able to get up before 7 on her own. She rubbed her face gently, her sheets warm and smooth against her skin. She grabbed her phone from the nightstand, her eyes widening in shock as she read the time on the screen.
Monday March 30 5:40 am
“Fucking hell I thought I set an alarm!” Amy groaned as she threw the sheets to the side, huffing as she opened the clock app to see, she in fact, did not set an alarm. She sighed, shaking her head as she rushed to the bathroom.
“Damn it Amy...you need this job…”
She texted Zig, a mutual friend of Emily Day who introduced them their freshman year of college at Hartfeld before Amy had transferred to Belviore University in New York. Zig graduated and moved to New York and opened a small cafe, only a few years later.
Zig, I’m going to be late. I missed my alarm this morning. I swear I’ll stay for closing and I won’t be late tomorrow.
LMAO, Amy if you didn’t set an alarm just say that, I had a feeling this would happen so I told you we opened an hour before we actually do. We don’t open until 7 on Mondays, just Tuesdays-Fridays.
I am literally going to murder you 0_0. You should prepare to be launched into outer space for this crime.
Lol I look forward to it - see you at 7.
Amy turned on the shower, as she grabbed a towel and her shower products from the cabinet, placing them beside the shower door. She discarded her clothes, put her shower playlist on, hopped into the shower and felt a wave of relief that she didn’t blow her first day. After Amy had performed her world tour, she stepped out of the shower with a shiver, the cool air a contrast to her very hot skin. She wrapped herself in the fuzzy towel, briefly glancing at the time, 6:02. She walked out of the bathroom, dropping the towel onto the floor as she opened her closet while she scanned her options for a “casual” outfit that would suffice. She put on her favorite bra and underwear, something about the red lingerie made her feel confident, before she slipped into a pair of dark blue denim skinny jeans. She paired the pants with a black t-shirt as she smiled at herself in the mirror.
“Not bad Amy, not bad at all.”
She walked over to her small vanity, one she had built with her father as a teenager over the summer before she left for college. It was one of her most prized possessions, one of the only things she had to remind her of him before he disappeared without a trace. She closed her eyes, recalling the memory fondly before she began to apply a small amount of makeup, just enough to hide her tiredness from the public. She stood from the desk, pleased with her appearance as she made her way to the small apartment kitchen. The empty beer bottles and ps4 controllers cluttered the kitchen as Amy smiled, having remembered celebrating the job with her suitemate Lily. She threw the bottles away and plugged the remotes in for a charge, Lily would thank her for that later. She opened the freezer, making herself two premade waffles as she checked her social media. It might have partially been the exhaustion but those waffles were the best Amy ever had, she wiped her mouth clean and grabbed her bag from the nearby chair. She shot a brief text to Lily, to let her know she hadn’t been kidnapped.
Morning Lily! I went to the cafe for work, just so you don’t end up thinking I got myself kidnapped. Love you, see you tonight! Try not to drink all of the alcohol.
Amy followed Zig’s text directions through the streets of the city, the bustle of traffic, the mass of pedestrians and the loud construction noises distracting Amy from her path. Amy had never really been in New York’s financial district before, the other civilians' appearances shifting from “Naked Cowboy of Times Square” to “Businessman” only a few streets apart. She glanced at her phone as it instructed her to take a right.
“Oof-”
Amy jolted at the scalding hot coffee that was hot on her skin, her head turning to meet a woman’s irritated gaze, taking note of the coffee cup that was in her hands. She was dressed like all the other businessmen and women who passed by - her maroon suit now covered in coffee as she huffed in annoyance. Amy met her deep brown eyes that burned right through her, her whole body freezing up as she watched the woman’s lips move. Amy stood in a daze, only coming back to herself when the woman waved her hand in front of her, her face filled with exasperation.
“I’m so sorry. It’s my first day and I’m kind of lost-”
“Watch where you’re going, this suit is probably worth more than you.” Her voice was silky and satisfying, and oddly soothing given the fact she had probably just stained a $2,000 suit. Amy rushed to open her wallet, holding out a wet 50$ to the woman. The business woman scoffed as she walked away, leaving Amy in a confused state outside of the cafe.
“Fuck.” Amy sighed, moving to collect her bag as she walked through the cafe door, Zig raised his eyebrows at her as she made her way behind the counter.
“Well that’s a look.” He jested, Amy turning her head and giving him a death glare as he tossed an apron to her. “Nobody will notice, you can cover it with this. There’s paper towels in the back.” Amy dropped her bag in the break room, gently wiping the coffee away and putting the surprisingly fashionable apron on. When she walked out from the back her jaw dropped as she spotted the woman from earlier standing on the other side of the counter. Their eyes met and the woman’s gaze quickly changed from annoyed to very annoyed at the sight of Amy.
“Kamilah, you’re back. Wanted to pick up some date-nut pinwheels?”
“No, I need another black coffee.” She turned back to Zig with a smile, he gave a small nod as Amy began to brew the coffee for her. She placed the lid carefully onto the fresh cup and handed it out to the woman, their fingers brushing for a moment, a blush creeping onto Amy’s cheeks.
“Thank you.” Her tone was less aggressive than it had been in their first encounter, Amy finally calm enough to take note of the woman’s features. Her brown silky hair that looked like it belonged in a conditioner commercial, her defined jawline and subtle eyeshadow that accentuated her eyes. She watched the way her lips moved as she talked to Zig, Amy feeling her heart jump at the sound of her laugh - light and golden. Amy watched her leave, every step she took she took with such confidence that Amy found herself wanting to follow her out the door.
“You could be less obvious, you know?” Zig playfully nudged Amy, nearly knocking her over as she shook her head in denial.
“No! I wasn’t!” Amy sighed as she rubbed her temples, Zig’s infectious laugh filling the empty cafe. Amy playfully punched his shoulder as a group of well dressed men stepped through the threshold, Amy moving behind the register to take their orders. The day passed, Amy learning how oddly specific some people like their coffee, and learning all of Zig’s secrets to the perfect iced coffee. Amy looked at the clock as Zig walked to lock the front door - finally closing time.
“Some of these orders...like ‘I’ll have the grande iced mocha no foam soy hexagon vortex hypotenuse’” Amy waved her hands around as Zig tried to contain a laugh, wiping down the counter as Amy hung her apron up.
“Amy you’re horrible.” Zig made a good attempt at seriousness, their eyes meeting before they continued to laugh which made closing pass by much faster. Zig grabbed the mass of leftover desserts from their respective containers, hovering them over the garbage before Amy stopped him.
“Oh, did you want these?”
“No, but I can find a better place for them than the trash.”
“Where? Your stomach?”
“No, the food bank is on the route back to my apartment. We shouldn’t be wasteful, and besides - who wouldn’t love a raspberry crown?”
“You’ve got a point. I’ll bag these for you then, if you could sweep the floor and put the chairs on the tables that’d be great.”
When all the cleaning and closing procedures were done Amy headed for the door with her bag in hand, Zig gently tapping her shoulder and holding out an envelope, a key to the cafe and the bag of desserts.
“Okay so I know what’s in here but what is this? A resignation letter?” Amy pouted her bottom lip as Zig rolled his eyes so far back Amy wasn’t sure if they’d come back.
“It’s your share of the tips from today, and the wrapped pastries. Thanks for that suggestion by the way, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself.” Zig rubbed the back of his neck as he looked around the pristine cafe, the windows reflecting the moonlight and the tile shimmering as if it were just installed. “Bloody hell, the place looks good...no great. Thank you Amy. Come on let's get outta here, go home - I’ll see you tomorrow at 6. Actually, let me make sure you set 3 different alarms, give me your phone.” Zig held out his hand after he locked the front door, Amy reluctantly handing her iphone over as he set 3 different alarms, all 5 minutes apart. He looked up at her for a moment, smirking before handing her phone back to her and walking off into the city. Amy rolled her eyes, he probably took a selfie on her camera but when she went to check, there was nothing but memes and occasional group photos -what did Zig smirk at then? Amy was too tired to think of it, she made a swift beeline to the food bank, opening the doors and dropping the brown bag of desserts off before making her trip back to the apartment.
The door opened with a creak, all of the lights turned off as Amy carefully navigated to her room. She switched her lamp on, letting it provide a dim light that didn’t blind Amy because of its intensity. She tossed her bag onto the bed, as she pulled her shirt over her head in one rapid motion. She desperately stripped, throwing her dirty clothes into the laundry basket as she changed into clean lingerie. She slipped into her favorite pair of pajama shorts and pulling her favorite hoodie over her bra - shirts were overrated anyways. Amy crawled onto her bed, crossing her legs while she put her headphones on, pulling up her favorite late-night playlist and letting the slowed music soothe her. She caught a glance at the envelope Zig had given her, she reached over for it and opened it carefully - baffled at the amount of cash laying inside. She slowly laid each bill out, counting the total twice to make sure she hadn’t miscalculated. Working at a cafe in New York’s financial district was definitely going to help her and Lily catch up on their rent and not get evicted. She smiled, tucking away 25% for herself, taking enough for her share of the rent and putting the rest into her locked safe - she’d been saving for a trip to Hawaii since she graduated. She stifled a yawn, closing the safe and tucking herself back into her warm sheets, taking her headphones off and closing her eyes for the night.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The alarm woke Amy up with it’s loud and very obnoxious beeping, Amy wanting nothing more than to throw the phone into the thermosphere. She drowsily stood from her bed, gently tucking the sheets neatly back into place as she turned off the following alarms. She sighed, rubbing her head as she changed into a simple outfit and left out the door to the cafe.
Amy arrived at the cafe, unlocked the front door and turned the lights on, relocking the door behind her because she didn’t need anyone startling her. She moved behind the counter, dropping her bag in the lounge and putting an apron on. She checked the coffee filters, gave the blenders a good washing, set out creamer, sugar and other coffee essentials on the counter and filled supplies back up. Zig suddenly walked through the door, a smile on his face as Amy finished supplying the countertop and putting the pastries out on display, letting Zig prepare himself for opening.
“You’re early. I’m shocked. College Amy is having a stroke right now.” Amy knocked him in the side, Zig falling back a few steps as he shook his head and put his hands in the air in surrender. “Alright alright no need for violence, come on, let’s open.” Zig turned the “open” sign on and only a minute later did Kamilah appear in the cafe, her suit perfectly fitted, her hair smoothly cascading around her head and down her shoulders and her face relaxed and composed.
“Good morning Kamilah, what can I get for you?” Zig gestured to the display of desserts and the variety of coffee combinations on the menu above their heads. Kamilah smiling as Zig waved his hands back and forth, Kamilah letting out a soft chuckle.
“Just a large black coffee and maybe a date-nut pinwheel.” Kamilah spoke to Zig in almost a tender way, as if they were siblings or long-term friends. Amy selected a pinwheel, gently placing it into a small bag and sliding it over the counter towards Kamilah as she began to brew the coffee.
“How’s Ahmanet Financial?” Zig leaned over the counter, his defined arms nearly breaking through the sleeves of his white shirt. Kamilah tucked the pinwheel bag into a hidden pocket on the inside of her blazer before she turned back to face Zig.
“It’s very successful, our stocks are soaring and we just secured a new business partner.” Kamilah looked proud and for good reason - Ahmanet financial was one of the most powerful corporations out there. Amy topped her coffee off with a lid and handed it to her, their eyes meeting for a moment before Amy turned away, feeling her cheeks turning hot. Kamilah checked her watch, a movado 47 rose gold watch that cost way more than anything Amy had ever come close to owning. “Zig I’d love to chat some other day but I’m afraid I’ll be late if I don’t leave now.”
She quickly made her way out the door, the bell ringing softly as Kamilah strided away. Amy leaned over the counter with a sigh, Zig nudging her softly.
“You could be less obvious Amy,” his annoying face smirking at Amy as she rolled her eyes, “you used to be so slick back in college.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Amy threw an empty coffee cup at him as a blonde girl walked into the cafe, her eyes glued to her phone as she recited her order at a rate that nobody could understand. Amy sighed, Zig giving her a pained glance as she went to mix the complicated coffee order. Amy fought back a laugh as Zig found a way to run away to the back when the girl asked for his phone number. Once Amy finished mixing her coffee and sent her out the cafe doors Zig poked his head out of the lounge - his eyes scanning for her.
“Is she gone?” Amy snorted as Zig stepped out from the doorway, his hands running through his hair as he let his shoulders relax. “My god I hate teenagers - they turn eighteen and all of a sudden think they can fuck anyone. I’m like 5 years older than her at least!”
“Relax buddy, let’s just get through the rest of the day. I’ll handle all the teenage brats and you can handle all the nasty men.” Amy gave him a cheeky grin as they teamwork-ed their way through the rest of the day.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Finally.” Amy rested the broom on the wall, taking in the pristine cafe as Zig finished wiping down the counters. “What a day.”
“Thank god it’s over.”
“Zig?”
“Yeah?”
“Does Kamilah always come by the cafe right when we open?”
Zig perked his head up, his brows raised to the top of his head as Amy felt a blush creep up her cheeks, her hands growing sweaty as Zig remained silent.
“She always comes as soon as we open, she has to be at work early since she is the CEO. Although she never rests, despite everything I’ve told her.” Zig’s head shot to his phone as it buzzed, a text from Emily appearing on the screen and Zig hastily typed away.
“Everything okay Zig?” Amy had a worried expression on her face as Zig let out a long sigh.
“There’s a road trip for Kaitlyn’s band that leaves in two days that lasts for a week that our group is going on and I can’t go because I need to run the cafe-”
“I can handle it for a week.” Amy spoke firmly, Zig’s eyes widening before he let out a chuckle.
“What if you burn it down?”
“I won’t but then I guess you just have to trust me. Come on Zig - you need a break and you damn well know it. Get out of here for a week.”
“I hate that you’re right. Fine, but if the cafe isn’t standing when I get back, you’re toast.” They both laughed and finished up closing.
Amy walked towards the food bank, a brisk breeze prompting her to make it one speedy trip so she could bask in her heated apartment. A shriek came from the alley as Amy turned her gaze to see where the yell had come from, a red pair of eyes looking right at her in the darkness. She felt her heart beating out of her chest as she forced her feet to a run, her heart pounding like a drum and ringing in her ears as she huffed through the front doors of the bank - placing the bag on the counter and racing back to her apartment without turning back.
“Hey girl how was-” Lily sat on the couch with a coke in her hand and the television remote in the other, her smile fading as she met Amy’s eyes. “Amy, what’s wrong? You look like you’ve just seen a ghost…”
“I think I’m just hallucinating from exhaustion,” Amy dropped her bag on the floor and took a seat on the couch beside Lily, “anyways tell me about you. We haven’t really had time since we both started working more.”
“Well you should sleep soon but I think we’ll be able to hold the rent for the next few months - with all the money you’re bringing in now in addition to the money my app has started to bring in - I think we’ll be more than fine.” Lily nudged her shoulder, offering Amy a can of coke with a smile as The Vampire Diaries played on the TV.
“Vampires are so overrated.” Amy groaned as she watched Lily’s eyes become glued to the screen.
“Some of us have taste you know.”
“No, it’s because they’re not real Lily, and the fact that no vampire would ever be attracted to me.”
Lily rolled her eyes as Amy sipped on her coke, both of them laughing late into the night and being good friends in what had felt like a long time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amy unlocked the cafe doors and shuffled inside, locking the door behind her and leaving her bag on the counter. She hit the light switch as the lights slowly came flickering on as she tied the apron around the back of her neck. She quickly started and finished the morning set-up, the routine becoming second nature since Amy had always been a fast learner. She checked her phone, 6:49 am April 1, 2020.
“April fools day.” Amy smiled as she contemplated setting up a whipped cream prank on Zig, but decided not to against her deepest desire to see his shocked face. While thinking of ways to mess with Zig through the day, her mind came to test a theory - she began preparing two black coffees - before adding her own twists to one of them. Amy finished and admired her handiwork - the cups looked identical and Kamilah wouldn’t notice until she tasted it.
Kamilah walked in, her eyes scanning the cafe for Zig as she took a cautious step towards Amy who had a cute little grin on her face.
“Good morning Kamilah, here’s your coffee.” Amy handed her a black coffee, the one she had adjusted ever so slightly. She watched as Kamilah brought the cup to her lips, almost taking a sip, before she lowered the cup and leaned her face closer to Amy.
“What did you do to it? It smells different, and where’s Zig?” Kamilah arched a brow as Amy silently wondered how Kamilah could smell the difference.
“I took a twist with it, I made you your regular too in case you hate it...I just thought you should broaden your horizons…and Zig is coming. He just needs to pack, he’ll be gone after today for a week and I’ll be running the cafe.” Amy smiled softly at the woman who was now leaning dangerously close.
“I see. And if I hate it?”
“Then I’ll pay for both and I’ll never try to broaden your horizons again…” Amy frowned slightly as Kamilah finally sipped on the drink - her brown eyes widening as she took another, and another.
“It’s...actually pretty good...what did you do to it?” Kamilah took another sip as Amy bounced on her heels, a wide childish grin written across her face.
“I added a bit of cream and sugar and a bit of caramel! It’s how I like mine!” Amy took her hands behind her back and fiddled with them nervously as Kamilah smiled. Zig walked in just as the clock read 8:05 am and Kamilah left, turning at the door to smile at Amy one last time, lifting the cup up with a smile before entering her car.
“What’s that smile about Amy?” Zig wagged his fingers at Amy with a classic smirk as he prepared for the shift, Amy resting her head on both of her hands while she leaned over the counter - her legs kicking out behind her.
“Nothing.” Amy sighed and went back to brewing coffee, her hands aimlessly performing while her mind sat on nothing but the thought of Kamilah - and her damned perfect smile.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amy tossed her shoes off as she made her way through the apartment door, one shoe nearly knocking Lily’s head off as she pulled freshly fried chicken from the air fryer.
“Lily that smells AMAZING!” Amy squealed and made her way over to her, Lily slapping her hand away as she finished the two plates of waffles off with a chicken breast and syrup. “I swear I’ve got the best best friend…” Lily smiled as they both dug into the food, chatting away about their day until Amy let it slip out.
“And there’s this really hot customer-”
“Oh! Spill!” Lily wiggled in her seat like a child, eagerly waiting for Amy to elaborate as Amy stuffed her face with the rest of her waffles. “I’ll wait for you to finish.” Lily smirked and held Amy in an uncomfortable eye contact until Amy finally caved in.
“She comes in at opening time every single day, and always orders a black coffee. Although I got her to try something new today which I’m really proud of.” The subtle smile that crept up Amy’s face gave it all away to Lily as she let her ramble on, whilst she gave Amy the smirk she hated. “I’m simping aren’t I?”
“There’s nothing wrong with simping. But you have a chance here because Zig won’t be there so you can actually like...take your shot without him ever having to know,” Lily winked and whispered, “and you could totally fuck her in the back-”
“NOPE!” Amy stood up frantically, Lily holding her sides for support and nearly falling out of her chair as Amy rushed to clear her plate. “I hate you! Ohmygoddddddd.” Amy groaned as Lily fell to the floor, her eyes wet with tears at Amy’s reaction more than anything else.
“I’m going to bed!!”
“Goodnight! Love you Ames!!!”
“Love you too….annoying ass!”
Amy snorted as she changed into her sleepwear, her body becoming exhausted as she hit the mattress, falling asleep ridiculously fast.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Kamilah came through the door, right on time as Amy had come to expect. Amy gazed up from her phone, those dark brown eyes looking right at her as she handed Kamilah her usual black coffee, Kamilah holding it closely before clearing her throat.
“Can I have the one from yesterday as well?” Amy smiled at her as she began to mix her favorite coffee - Kamilah leaning over the counter to observe.
“I didn’t think you’d want it again.” Amy said as she added creamer to the mix, the coffee turning golden as she mixed it.
“A woman can’t appreciate a little variety in her life?” Kamilah leaned against the counter, her hair smoothly gliding over her maroon blazer as she tossed it back - taking a sip from her cup.
“No I just-” Amy topped the cup off with a bit of caramel before enclosing it with the lid, her hands sweaty as she handed it to Kamilah.
“You just?”
“Thought you’d always like your coffee like your personality.”
“Whatever do you mean by that?”
The way Kamilah was looking at Amy, she knew she had to choose her next words carefully.
“Dark, intimidating, a bit bitter at first sip,” Amy hesitated as Kamilah raised a brow, “an...acquired taste.”
“You’re intimidated by me?”
“Just a little…”
“Hmm, I suppose your coffee is like you if you want to expand your little analogy.” Kamilah glanced at her watch, her expression shifting from playful to work-oriented. Amy felt her heart drop a little as she recomposed herself - back to her refined and disciplined self. Kamilah made her way to the door, the two cups of coffee in her hands as she paused, turning back and looking at Amy - something different about it.
“It’s...sweet and comforting,” her voice was soft as she spoke, Amy’s cheeks turning very red, “like you.”

The Perfect Cake
[OH MY GOD GUYS LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!
A couple days ago, i suddenly remembered that I HAVE AN AO3 ACCOUNT. I completely forgot I had one. So I went back and looked at my works and holy hell guys, I had a ONESHOT BOOK! BUT I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT ONESHOTS WERE SO I CALLED THEM ‘Sanders Stories’, BECAUSE THEY WERE SANDERS SIDES. THEY’RE KIND OF CRAPPY BUT ALSO REALLY NOSTALGIC AND I’M SO HAPPY I FOUND THEM!!!!
This one particular one is called “The Perfect Cake,” and i’m actually kind of proud of past me for it, even though it’s not that good. It’s fluffy Logicality with a gallon of Patton angst because that is literally all I’m good at writing.
So I’m going to leave this here, as well as a link to the book! GUYS I’M JUST SO HAPPY!]
[In case you’re confused, the link I send will be to the whole book so the first chapter isn’t the one that I’m pasting here. This chapter, The Perfect Cake, is the second oneshot and the first one is prinxiety]

Pairings: Logicality
TW: Baking, feelings of worthlessness, crying, birthday, breakdown
Summary: It’s Logan’s birthday tomorrow, and Patton is determined to bake the PERFECT cake for it (Even if he hasn’t baked that much before.) He’s trying his best, but he can’t do it alone.
---
Patton stood in the center of the kitchen.
He often had the same feeling in his stomach before he cooked something big; He had to mentally prepare himself for hours of work.
Logan's Birthday was tomorrow, and Patton had to make it the best possible birthday! This was the anniversary of the first day Thomas went to preschool- the day Logan was formed.
Patton remembered that day like it was yesterday. He remembered a small toddler with an intelligent sparkle in his eye knocking on the door of the commons, he remembered how he swore Patton's hugs might suffocate someone. He remembered growing up with him, and slowly falling in love, and-
Shoot. No. These emotions weren't logical, it was impossible for Logan to like Patton back. He had to stop thinking like that.
Illogical feelings or not, tomorrow was Logan's day to shine, and it had to be perfect. Patton had to bake the most amazing, most beautiful, most delicious cake ever to grace the Mind-scape.
Patton took a deep breath and got to work.
After a few hours, Patton had been worked to death. He had been trying and trying to make the perfect cake, but it was always just wrong, or the product of a mistake. His pink apron was wrinkled and dirty, and he had streaks of batter all over his face. He had started at 6 am, and it was now 8. He sighed and rubbed his face, grateful that he still had his optimism.
"Patton? You ok, Padre?"
Patton turned to find Roman standing in the kitchen doorway, eyes sparking with worry.
Patton smiled. "Oh, I'm alright, kiddo. Just trying to bake a cake for Logan. I can't seem to get it right."
Roman smirked and came in. "Want some help? I've never baked before, but I'll help if it's bothering you."
Patton grinned and gave the Prince a huge hug. "Thank you so much, kiddo! I'm sure you will be a great help!"
Oh, how wrong Patton had been.
Virgil had often joked about how Roman wouldn't stop singing to save his life, and Patton was pretty sure that was true. Every 5 minutes, just as they started to get some work done, the prince would start belting out lyrics to disney songs or dancing around the kitchen. They got as far as perfectly mixing the batter before Patton had to stop him.
"Look, kiddo..." Patton started, rubbing his hands together and trying to find a way to put this nicely. "You helped me make the perfect batter, and I am so proud of you for that, but I think maybe you should clock out? You have been a great help, but you... Um... Sing a lot." Patton winced, afraid Roman was going to be offended.
Roman nodded in understanding and put a hand on patton's shoulder. "Hey, don't worry about it. I know I can be distracting. Do you want me to go see if Virgil will help you?"
Patton nodded, thankful. "That would be great!"
Roman left the kitchen yelling "HOT TOPIC! PAT WANTS YOU!"
Patton watched him go with a proud smile, and then turned to clean up the kitchen.
Just as he was halfway through cleaning, Virgil came into the kitchen with his hood up. "Sup', Pop star?"
Patton grinned and gave Virgil a big hug, which the emo reluctantly returned. "My dark, strange son! I am baking a cake for Logan’s birthday, and I need your help!" Patton pulled away from Virgil, smiling. "Roman already helped me make the batter, but he can be a bit much in the kitchen. Would you mind helping out for the rest of the process?"
Virgil shrugged. "I have nothing better to do."
Patton knew that that was Virgil's way of saying "I would love to."
Virgil was very helpful cleaning up the kitchen. He had a sort of efficient way of doing things, just one after the other, not saying a word. It was kind of satisfying to watch.
It got a bit hectic after that, though. Once they were done cleaning, they had to pour the batter into the pans. It was going to be a big cake, like, "Corpse Bride" big. So they had to use multiple pans and lots of batter. Virgil had violently shaky hands, and had lots of trouble pouring the batter in. In the end, Patton had to pour all the batter himself, and the kitchen ended up very messy.
Virgil's eyeshadow was darker than when he had initially come in. "I-im sorry... I didn't mean to mess up, I just-"
Patton smiled at him and pulled him into a hug. "No no, you didn't do anything wrong, kiddo! You just had a little trouble with steadying your hands. I'm very proud of you for helping me clean up, but maybe we should get someone else to help us here? Maybe Jan?"
Virgil smirked sadly. "I think maybe i'll duck out for now, but I'll tell Janus you want his help."
"Thanks, son!"
Virgil stepped out of the kitchen yelling "HEY SNAKE BOY!"
Patton sighed. This was not going the way he had wanted it to. He did realize that if Janus ended up being bad at this, his last choice was Remus, and he was terrified of going down that road.
He had just cleaned the batter from the stovetop when Janus walked into the kitchen. "Hey Pat, did you need something?"
Pat smiled tiredly. "Hey, Janjan. I was going to bake a cake for Logan, but i'm having some trouble. Roman and Virge weren't so good at it, so I wanted to see if you would help?"
Jan rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I'm tooooootally not disappointed that you worked with Emo and Sir Singalot before you thought about the second smartest person here," He said sarcastically.
"Mm-hm!" Patton managed to say before taking a deep breath to control himself.
Janus helped Patton bake the cake and even out the tops with a bread knife. The next thing they had to do was spread the buttercream filling on the layers so they could be stacked.
Jan looked in the fridge like Patton told him to. "I don't see the buttercream."
Patton walked over and scanned the fridge. It was gone.
He took a few deep breaths and ran a hand through his hair. "Where the heck is it? If I have to make more, I swear I will-"
"Make more of what?" Remus poked his head into the kitchen curiously.
"The buttercream filling for Logan's cake is gone."
Remus cocked his head. "Buttercream? Hmmm... OH! Yeah, I ate that."
Patton's eyes widened. "You did WHAT?" Remus smiled fearfully while Patton yelled. "THE ONE THING YOU EAT THAT IS ACTUAL FOOD, AND IT HAS TO BE THE BUTTERCREAM?"
For once, Janus looked worried. "Patton, are you ok? You aren't acting like yourself..."
The dad side breathed in and out rapidly, his hands running through his hair. He tried to calm himself down- He was the happy side, not the angry side. He could get through this. "I'm fine. I'm calm. I can do this."
"Gee, I'm sorry, Pat," Said Remus. He suddenly grinned. "I can throw it up for you, if you want!"
"NO! No, no. I think we will be ok," Janus said, pushing Remus out of the room. He turned to face Pat. "Patpat, are you ok?"
Janus sometimes called Patton Patpat, mostly as payback for Patton calling him Janjan. But when the two became good friends, they used them as nicknames instead.
"I'm fine, Janjan. I'm just having some feelings. Feelings are okay though! I'm ok."
Janus sighed. "If you say so."
They worked together to make a new batch of buttercream, allowing the cake to cool. The original buttercream had been baby blue, but Patton had no more baby blue dye, so they used indigo instead. They layered and stacked the cake with the buttercream, used support sticks to keep the cake from falling over, and then started to layer it with dark blue fondant.
Patton looked over at Janus. "Would you mind taking off the gloves? Sorry, but this is very delicate and I think you should use your bare hands."
Janus frowned. "I shouldn't. I have scales on my left hand, if I use it, it will leave a scale imprint on the fondant."
Patton blinked sadly at him. "Oh, ok."
Patton handled the fondant, and as he fit it into place, he thought the cake looked beautiful. "Only one thing left to do: DECORATE!!!"
Patton was an amazing decorator.
After years of theming cookies and cupcakes to each side, baking birthday cakes, and writing messages in crofters jelly for a scavenger hunt, Patton had a handle on how to make things look presentable. Right now, It was a giant 3-layer cake with blue fondant covering, but soon, it would be a masterpiece.
Janus coughed uncomfortably behind Patton. "Um... Since i'm not very good at this stuff... Can I go? I have my own present I wanted to work on."
Patton smiled at him. "Sure! Don't spoil anything to Lolo, ok?"
Deceit nodded and almost left the kitchen before turning back and saying, "Uh, hey, Patpat? Don't stress yourself out too much, 'Kay?"
Patton nodded back. "Of course."
Janus smiled, relieved, and left.
---
---
Patton was SO TIRED.
It was 8 in the morning on Logan's Birthday. Patton had worked all night on that cake and when he had finally finished it, he went right to bed without doing anything in between. He had just woken up, feeling groggy and confused, but he made himself get out of bed because it was Logan's special day.
Logan woke up that day happy. He knew that a birthday was pointless, it was a celebration of one year passing in an entities life, it made no logical sense. But if the other sides wanted to shower him with attention once per fricking year, he did not want to miss this chance.
Patton got out of bed the last out of all the others. Logan had woken up to the other four sides, Janus, Remus, Roman, and Virgil ready for him in the living room with gifts and treats. Logan had thought that Patton would be the first there, energized and grinning, the way he always was. But Patton was nowhere in sight.
When Patton did come out, he put on his best happy face and gave Logan the biggest hug he could muster. Logan smiled a little. "To this day, I swear, your hugs might suffocate someone!"
Patton laughed and grinned at him, just happy he had gotten through yesterday.
First, they made breakfast. Jan made waffles with crofters jelly and eggs, and they all sat around the table reminiscing about the past. They talked about when logan first got his glasses, when he had a stutter, and everything else that Patton could remember. Which was everything, since Patton kept every memory stored in his room.
Next, they had gifts. Roman gave him a lab in the imagination; with chemistry sets, a telescope, and books upon books upon books. It was his own little area in Roman's realm so Logan could enjoy himself every now and then. Virgil gave him a dictionary of every word in the world, in every language. Janus gave him a replica of the Library of Alexandria, with all of the scrolls and books still there. "The original one was burned down with all of it's knowledge," he said, "So here is-" "OH MY GOD I LOVE IT THANK YOU!" Remus gave Logan an animal to dissect. But it wasn't a real animal, it was something Remus had made to give Logan something to do.
Patton promised Logan that his gift would come after dinner. He felt as though his cake paled in comparison to all of the gifts his friends had given. I mean, the Library of Alexandria? Patton sunk lower in his chair.
After gifts, they had lunch in a beautiful field that Roman had created, where the flies ate grass instead of your food, and every bird was adorned with beautiful shimmering colors and tail feathers. They had PB&J sandwiches (with crofters, of course), Goldfish, and apples. They talked for hours about nothing in particular, every now and then asking Roman about the creatures that walked by.
Logan was having a great time, but something seemed off. He looked around at the group and his eyes settled on Patton. The more he looked at him, the more tired he seemed. Logan noticed shadows under Patton's eyes for the first time, and saw that his smile was beginning to look more and more forced. Logan began to worry that one of them had done something wrong. The usual bundle of joy and energy that was Patton looked a lot more docile and tired than before.
Once it started to get dark (because Roman had set a day-night cycle in the imagination just so they would know when to go) they went back to the commons for dinner. Janus cooked some brown sugared ham with peas and rice, while Patton left to get the cake ready.
As Patton walked into the kitchen, he took a look at the cake on the pedestal. Dark fondant with baby blue frosting in swirls, and a little fondant necktie decoration on the second tear to tease about Logan's necktie. The name "Logan" was scribbled in white frosting on top.
He remembered the tall pillars in the Library of Alexandria Jan had made, he remembered the sparkling equipment Roman had conjured. He remembered the giant dictionary, the animal-
Patton looked at the cake and sighed. He honestly didn't know what he was thinking. But this was what he had done. He would just have to work with it, and maybe make up for it with a different gift later.
He picked up the large cake in his arms. It was very heavy, and there was one whole room between the kitchen and the dining room; the living area. Patton just had to bring it over.
He left the kitchen with the cake, and he was doing well with it considering he couldn't see his feet, and then he tripped.
...and then he tripped.
His foot caught against something on the ground and he stumbled, causing the cake to drop out of his arms and onto the floor. It fell sideways, and broke upon impact, and the cake broke up on the floor. Bits and pieces everywhere. Patton had fallen, and he had scraped his elbow, but he didn't care. He didn't care anymore.
He had spent a whole god-forsaken day trying to get this right. He remembered Roman's singing, Virgil's shaky hands, Remus's eating habits, Janus' scales, and he could feel himself sinking into the ground. He just wanted this to be perfect. Logan deserved something perfect.
The cake was broken, and the world was quiet, and Patton wondered for a moment if he had gone deaf. The Mindscape was silent. He felt the tears on his cheeks, but he didn't cry. Patton was the joyful and happy side, so he didn't cry. Water fell from his eyes in waterfalls and rivers across his skin, but he wasn't crying, that's not how he worked. Even when sobs racked his body and made his chest hurt. He wasn't crying.
It was just a god forsaken cake, why the heck was he crying? It was just a cake. It was just a cake.
Shoot, this isn't ABOUT THE CAKE.
Logan and all the other sides sat in the dining room, talking happily about whatever came to mind. Patton had left to get the cake, but he hadn't come back yet. Logan had eaten his dinner and was now staring at the door. He tried to focus on the conversation, but he thought Patton seemed a little late.
"Hey, Nerd, whatcha' looking at?" Roman asked, walking up behind his chair, bending down, and following Logan's line of sight.
Logan didn't turn his gaze from the door. "I feel like Pat should have been back by now. Actually, Roman, maybe you could check on him?"
Behind Logan's back, Roman and Virgil exchanged a glance, and Roman understood immediately.
"Actually, Lo, maybe you should go check on him? It is your cake after all."
Logan stood up from his chair and walked out of the dining room. "I suppose so."
Virgil snickered. "Oh my god, he is so oblivious. I ship them so badly..."
Logan walked out of the dining room and almost choked.
Patton was on the floor, with his hands in his face. Was he crying? Patton didn't cry. He was too happy to cry. He was too fricking perfect to cry. WHO THE HECK MADE PAT CRY?
Then logan saw the floor. The cake, he realized, was broken up and smashed to bits on the ground. The fondant was ripped apart, save for a small black fondant necktie. Patton must have dropped the cake. It looked like it had been big.
Logan didn't hesitate for a second. He kneeled down beside Patton, wrapping his arms around him and quietly letting him sob.
Patton felt someone's arms around him, and they had glasses, he knew, because the glasses were pressed against his temple. But that meant it was Logan. Logan was here, and he can see the cake, and he is probably so mad. Patton wrapped his arms around Logan and cried into his shoulder. He didn't like Logan to be angry. Hugs fixed that. Right?
"Pat? Patton, don't cry, what's wrong?"
Patton could barely find the breath to speak.
"I-I dropped it. The thing... I-I mess-Messed up... It's all g-gone..."
"Shhhh. Shhh, it's not your fault, don't worry. Patton, I love the cake. It's looks like it was beautiful, thank you."
Patton just kept sobbing, his glasses getting foggy. Logan knew the side was emotional, but really, it was just a cake, and Logan wasn't even mad at Patton. In fact, Logan didn't think he was capable of being mad at Patton.
Patton was sad about the cake. Of course, it was horribly destroyed, and he had spent a long, tiresome day making it perfect. And now it was all gone, and Patton had no gift to give.
To Pat, this was bigger than that though. Logan was supposed to have the perfect birthday, but Patton had messed all of that up. He had nothing to give logan. Every day of his life, his goal was to give something, to be helpful, and to care for others. He had messed up today.
"I-i don't know wh-what to do. I just... I just wanted-d to g-give you something. I-It's a-all gone n-now. Th-the d-day is ruined."
Logan frowned. What would someone with a better sense of emotions say? Seeing Patton like this made him so sad, what could he do?
He remembered something Pat had said to him a long time ago, when he was getting used to emotions. 'When someone is feeling down, speak from the heart! The best thing you can do is tell them the truth, and if they don't like it, then they have a right to feel a little sad. But you should still try!'
"Pat, I know you are sad. I understand that you wanted to make this a good day, but it WAS a good day. I enjoyed every moment of today. Sure, the cake is messed up, but it's the thought that counts, and you are already the best gift I could ask for."
Patton looked up in confusion. "Me?"
Logan was usually really bad at emotions, but right now, emotions seemed to be all he could muster. "You are so caring and joyful. And sweet. And kind. And I don't care about the cake, or any gift you give me, the fact that you are so set on making me feel cared for is enough. I'm just happy you're here, ok?"
Logan brushed a tear from Patton's eye and smiled. "I'm just happy you're here."

This one took forever to finish and some of them are a bit long. Hope you enjoy though!
Feel free to send some scenarios my way if you want x
Scenario: GOM + Kagami is your date for prom (fem!s/o)
Kise
Tumblr media
The doorbell rang and your stomach filled with butterflies. You and Kise had been so excited for this day and you couldn’t help but rush downstairs, trying hard not to trip on your own dress. Kise was at the door, chatting with your parents, he looked absolutely amazing- I mean, what more could you expect from a model- but the second you came into sight, he was speechless.
“Y/N-cchi...” Kise was at a loss for words, which was strange because he always had something to say.
“What? Do I not look nice? Is it the makeup? I knew I shouldn’t have put that much eyeshadow—”
“No, you look perfect. Even more than perfect! And your makeup is beautiful, maybe you should do my makeup at a photoshoot sometime,” Kise said reassuringly, making you feel more at ease.
A few moments of silence passed as the two of you just stood at the doorway admiring each other.
“Oh! I got you this,” Kise said, holding out a gorgeous corsage made with daisies- your favourite flower.
You felt your heart melt right there and then, “Kise, you didn’t have to! But it’s gorgeous, thank you,” you said as he slid it onto your wrist.
“I knew you’d like it, Y/N-cchi!” Kise smiled. “Shall we go?”
You nodded and left the house, with your arm intertwined with Kise’s. The two of you shared a limousine with some of Kise’s teammates, but Kise wouldn’t take his eyes off of you. “Kise, quit staring, you’re making me nervous!” you whined, turning to face his adorable honey eyes.
“I can’t help it. You’re the most gorgeous person on Earth,” Kise said, making your cheeks turn into a bright pink.
“Well, I don’t know about that, because I’m quite sure that you’re the most gorgeous one here. I mean, look at you- you look dashing!” you giggled, which only make Kise smile even wider than he did before.
The entire night was like a fairytale come to life. You chose not to dance that much because you were convinced that you’d trip over your dress or just embarrass yourself with your not-so-graceful dancing, much to Kise’s dismay. However, the biggest surprise came when you and Kise won prom king and queen.
“I guess you have to dance with me now, Y/N-cchi,” Kise muttered to you, smiling with glee as the crowd made way for the two of you on the dance floor.
Dancing with Kise wasn’t that bad though. He guided you every step of the way but didn’t hold himself back with spinning you out of the blue- which you somehow pulled off. “When did you get so good at dancing?” You asked Kise as the two of you swayed together.
“I’m good at everything, remember?” Kise smiled smugly. “Here, I’ll prove it.” Kise pulled your hips closer; you two were so close that you could feel his breath on your face. It seemed like everything around you tuned out as the blonde leaned in closer and placed a soft kiss on your lips. And you had to admit- that was one of the best kisses you’ve ever received.
Aomine
Tumblr media
Aomine wasn’t too keen on the idea of prom until Momoi told him that you were interested in going. He isn’t one that enjoys grand events like this, but he put all of that aside because he was dying to see you all dressed up. When he arrived at your house to pick you up, he nearly dropped dead because of how beautiful he thought you looked.
“Y/N, you’re gonna kill me,” Aomine said, barely able to get any words out in the first place.
“Don’t be dramatic Aomine,” you chuckled, planting a kiss on his cheek.
“I’m not being dramatic, I swear my heart skipped a beat! You were already hot to begin with, and now you’re even more hot! How is that fair?” Aomine rambled, unable to believe how perfect you were and how lucky he got to have someone like you.
You sighed and decided to give in to his compliments— he’d never stop rambling otherwise, “Thank you, Aomine. You look extremely hot in a tuxedo by the way.”
Aomine’s cheeks began to heat up, “I think you won the hotness battle by a long shot.” You watched as your boyfriend eyed you up and down, it was flattering but that didn’t stop you from whacking his arm.
“Don’t get any ideas,” you snapped, knowing exactly how his mind worked. Aomine sighed and the two of you headed off together.
The actual event wasn’t too bad, though Aomine kept yawning. He couldn’t keep his hands off you though. He always either had his arm around you or on your thigh under the table. You felt like you’d have more fun with just Aomine than at prom, so you decided to head up to the roof together.
“Damn, there’s really not much you can do at prom but dance, huh?” Aomine said as the two of you got up to the empty roof.
“Yeah if you weren’t with me I probably would’ve dozed off by now,” you admitted, chuckling.
“It’s much nicer here anyways,” Aomine shrugged, looking up at the starry night sky. The two of you laid down next to each other and stared up at the stars together. Aomine took off his suit jacket and insisted that you lay down on it rather than the cold floor.
“I didn’t think our prom would go like this, if I’m being honest,” you told him.
“Yeah well, I’m still having fun,” he said, turning his head and looking at you. “You know, you look really beautiful- I’m sorry that prom wasn’t what you hoped it was.”
“It’s okay, I’m just glad I got to see my Aomine in a tuxedo,” you said, grinning, which only made him scoff and put his arm over his face so that you wouldn’t see him blush.
“Shut up, Y/N,” Aomine groaned, stifling an embarrassed chuckle. He took his arm off his face and turned to you again, but this time he didn’t just admire you. He moved in closer and pressed his lips onto yours. He pulled away for a moment and looked at you, grinning from ear to ear. “Sorry, I couldn’t help it,” he whispered.
“It’s okay, I loved it. You can keep going if you’d like.”
Before you knew it, things began to get hot and heavy. Aomine laid on top of you as your kisses deepened and fizzled into something more. And although the actual event was a bore, your prom night with Aomine under the stars was one of the best nights of your life.
Murasakibara
Tumblr media
“Y/N-chin, can’t you just come over to my house and we can eat snacks and watch a movie instead?” Murasakibara groaned over the phone.
“Murasakibara, there’s literally two hours till prom. I already got a dress and you already got a suit— I think it’s too late to change plans,” you replied.
“Okay fine, I’ll come pick you up soon,” he muttered before hanging up.
You weren’t too sure why you were going either, because to you, Atsushi’s idea of staying home and eating snacks sounded much better. Nevertheless, getting out of your comfort zone might be a good idea.
However, the second you saw Murasakibara all dressed up at your doorstep, all your doubts and worries were worth it; he looked so nice.
“Woah, look at you!” You said breathlessly, “You look amazing.”
“Hm? Really? Muro-chin helped me pick this out,” he said, looking down at his sleek black tuxedo. “You look really nice too. Did anyone help you pick that dress?”
“No, I did it all myself.”
“Wow, my date is so talented. I got lucky, huh,” Murasakibara smiled as he reached out to you. You smiled and gladly took his hand as the two of you were off to prom together.
You found that prom was actually a nice atmosphere to be in— it wasn’t as bad as you thought. The food there was delicious so Murasakibara was extremely happy. The two of you mainly stuck to your seats the entire time, just talking to each other. However, to your surprise, your favourite slow song began to play and you had to go dance- you’d hate yourself if you didn’t.
“Hey Y/N-chin, isn’t this that song you really like?” Murasakibara asked, recognising it the second it began to play.
“Yeah it is. I can’t believe they’re playing it. Would you like to dance with me?” You asked, standing up and holding your hand out for him to take.
“Of course I’ll dance with you. It would be useless if I didn’t- I was the one who requested the song after all,” Murasakibara said, holding your hand and leading you to the dance floor.
“You requested the song?” You questioned, feeling your heart warming up as Murasakibara placed his hands on your waist.
“Yeah, I thought you’d like it. It would be a waste if you came here looking so nice without enjoying yourself,” he said, shrugging as if it was nothing.
“I love it! Thank you so much,” you said, kissing his cheek and pulling him into a tight hug, which took him by surprise as he breathed in your scent, which to him, was heavenly; it made him feel at home.
“Y/N-chin, it’s just a song, it wasn’t a big deal,” Murasakibara said, while also hugging you back, just as tight- if not tighter.
“It was very sweet of you to do that,” you told him, unable to stop smiling as you pulled away from the hug and swayed to the music, looking up at his eyes. “I know you would rather be at home, but I’m glad you’re here. So to thank you, I’ll make you your favourite cheesecake tomorrow.”
“I don’t mind being here actually. The food’s good. And I like spending time with you— I do still want that cheesecake though,” he said, watching you giggle making his heart do all kinds of leaps and skips.
“I love you,” you said to him, the words making his eyes soften.
“I love you too, Y/N-chin,” he said, averting his gaze as the colour in his cheeks brightened. The two of you continued to sway along to the song, lost in each other’s eyes, muttering whatever came to your minds because you could tell each other anything.
Midorima
Tumblr media
Midorima was very much punctual when it came to picking you up at your house. The doorbell rang at exactly 6 pm. You opened the door and greeted Midorima with a big hug.
“Y-you look beautiful, Y/N,” he said, unable to take his eyes off of you when you pulled away from the hug.
“Thank you, Mido-chin, so do you!” You noticed that his hands were empty. “Where’s today’s lucky item?” you questioned.
“Oh it’s meant to be a rose today. I decided to incorporate it into my outfit and used a rose to make this,” he said, pointing to the boutonnière in the lapel of his tuxedo jacket.
“That item is good timing huh?” You said, amazed.
“Quite so,” he replied. “Shall we head out? Takao is waiting in the limousine.”
Once you got to prom, the two of you decided to just sit at your table and talk since neither you or Midorima knew how to dance very well.
“Events like these aren’t really much if you’re not in the dance floor huh?” You said, before taking a mouthful of pasta.
“Seems like it. I enjoy talking to you, though,” he told you, making you grin.
“Me too,” you said. You heard a slow song begin to play and you finally decided to dance. You quickly stood up and took Midorima’s hand.
“Y/N, what are you doing?” Midorima questioned, dropping his utensils on the table as you dragged him to the dance floor.
“We’re gonna dance. We’d both regret it later if we didn’t dance at least once,” you told him as you put your arms around his neck.
“I suppose you’re right,” Midorima said, looking around and placing his hands on your waist as it seemed like that’s what the others were doing.
Within a few seconds, the two of you got the hang of it, “Hey this isn’t too difficult,” you said.
“You’re right, it’s quite nice being this close to you too,” Midorima said, grinning at you. He looked at you in silence for a moment before reaching for his boutonnière. He pulled it out and placed the flower in your hair. “That looks cute on you.”
You watched Midorima smile at you with pure adoration, which made your heart skip a beat. “Are you sure you want to put your lucky item there? What if it falls?” You asked looking around the dance floor and realising that if it were to fall, it would get stepped on and crushed quite easily.
“Tonight I don’t really care,” he said softly as he gazed into your eyes. “You’re all I need.”
Akashi
Tumblr media
Akashi was always a perfect gentleman, and your prom night was no exception. When you headed downstairs after hearing the doorbell ring, you found Akashi politely greeting your parents and thanking them for letting him take you out.
Akashi’s face seemed to light up at the sight of you. You greeted him with a warm hug and the two of you bid your parents a goodbye before entering the limousine he had gotten for the two of you.
“You look absolutely beautiful tonight,” Akashi said once you had settled in.
“Thank you. I must say, you look quite lovely yourself,” you told him, looking at how perfect that tuxedo fit him.
“That’s very sweet of you to say. I got you this corsage,” he said, reaching out to a small compartment and taking out an elegant corsage with pink flowers that matched your dress perfectly.
“That is absolutely gorgeous. How’d you know my dress would be pink? I don’t remember showing it to you,” you asked as you slipped it onto your wrist.
“I just knew,” he shrugged and gave you a gentle smile, “I’m glad you like it.”
Your evening with Akashi was quite a blast. You weren’t expecting him to be much of a dancer but he was actually quite amazing. He even taught you a few moves as the night went on.
To your surprise, you and Akashi had been voted prom king and queen, which confused you a lot as you weren’t used to winning awards like these. As the crowd watched the two of you slow dance together, you couldn’t help but get a bit nervous.
And almost as if he read your mind, Akashi said, “There’s no need to be nervous. You’re doing a good job at this dance.”
“Well, I have you to thank, I’m quite sure you’re doing most of the work,” you giggled. You looked at your date for a moment and realised how good he looked in a crown. It was like he was meant to be king. “That crown suits you, you know?”
Akashi smiled, “Does it? I feel a bit dorky in it.”
“No, you look perfect in it, as always,” you confirmed as you looked into his bright eyes. “Tonight was fun, don’t you think?”
“Yes it was a good time. Mostly because I’m here with you,” he grinned, feeling nothing but grateful that he was there, dancing with who he thought was the most perfect woman ever.
“You’re so sweet. I love you,” you whispered to him as the song neared the end.
“I love you too, my queen,” he replied, filling your stomach with butterflies as he smoothly leaned in and pressed his lips against yours.
Kuroko
Tumblr media
You greeted Kuroko at your doorstep, full of excitement. He thought that you looked gorgeous and he stood there silently for a few moments trying to figure out what to say.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” You asked him, getting a bit nervous and wondering if he thought that you didn’t look nice.
“I just think you look like a really pretty princess,” he said softly, still taken aback by your looks. “I’m sorry for staring.”
“It’s okay, it’s kind of cute. You look very handsome by the way,” you told him, which made him grin from ear to ear.
When you two got to the venue, Kuroko immediately realised that it wasn’t really his kind of atmosphere. However, he still decided to give it a try because he wanted to make a proper judgement for himself.
The music was quite loud so you couldn’t hear much of what either of you were saying to each other. Once both of you had eaten your food, you decided to leave the hall with Kuroko because you needed a break from all the noise.
The venue they had chosen for the prom had a beautiful flower garden with a magnificent water fountain outside, so that’s where you two went.
“This place is much nicer than in there,” you told him as you took a seat on a bench near the fountain. You could still hear the muffled noises of the music from the hall.
“Yeah, it’s nice to finally be able to hear your voice,” Kuroko joked. “Although, I still feel like I owe you a dance.”
Kuroko took his phone out and began to play a nice slow song as he stood up from the bench. He set the phone down and reached his hand out, which you took with a smile.
The two of you danced in front of the water fountain, seemingly lost in your own little world. It was magical. “You’re a good dancer,” you said to him with a impressed grin on your face.
“I’m very much average,” he said.
You looked around you and really took in the scenery— it was straight out of a fairytale. “This place is beautiful. I could stay here all night with you.”
“That sounds lovely. I still can’t believe I’m here dancing with the most beautiful person in the world,” Kuroko smiled, making you blush profusely.
“I can assure you that I’m not the most beautiful person in the world,” you replied, feeling yourself slowly getting lost in his sparkly blue eyes. Kuroko suddenly spun you around, taking you by surprise. “Woah that was cool. How’d you learn to do that?”
“I didn’t, I just thought I’d try it— I’m glad it worked out though,” Kuroko said, shrugging, which make you giggle. “And by the way, you’ll always be the most beautiful person in the world to me.”
As the two of you had your own little dance under the stars, you couldn’t help but wonder how you got so lucky to be able to have a boy like him as your date. Though this wasn’t what you expected your prom to be, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Kagami
Tumblr media
When you opened the door on the day of your prom, you found the tall but nervous Kagami standing at your doorstep. He was a bit late, but that was okay because your makeup took a bit longer than you had expected.
“Y/N! You look f-amazing!” Kagami stuttered, cringing as he scratched his head nervously.
“F-amazing?” You repeated.
“I was gonna say fantastic, but then I wanted to say amazing, but it was too late and I—” Kagami was cut off by you pressing your lips onto his and you sensed him begin to ease himself. “What was that for?”
“You were rambling babe,” you told him, chuckling.
“Sorry, I’m a bit nervous,” he said, his face beginning to turn red from embarrassment.
It was strange to see Kagami this nervous because he was usually a very confident person. “You have nothing to be nervous about. It’s just me. I should be the nervous one, I mean, look at you! You look stunning,” you said reassuringly.
“I guess I’m just scared that I’ll mess things up. No one as beautiful as you should be disappointed you know?” he explained.
“I would never be disappointed! I get to spend my evening with the Kagami Taiga— it’s more than I could ever ask for,” you told him, making a smile brighten up his face. “Shall we head off?”
“Oh wait! Remember how you said that you didn’t have any necklaces that would match your dress?” Kagami said, looking at your bare neck as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small rectangular black box. He opened it up to reveal one of the most beautiful gold necklaces you’ve ever seen. It was a thin, simplistic chain with a star-shaped jewel pendant that sparkled in the evening light.
“Woah Kagami...” you trailed off, lost for words as your eyes were fixated by the beautiful piece of jewellery.
“Do you like it?” He asked, trying to read your expressions.
“I love it! It’s gorgeous! You really didn’t have to get this—”
“A gorgeous girl deserves a gorgeous piece of jewellery right?” Kagami interrupted and picked up the necklace. “Can I put it on for you?” he asked politely, to which you nodded yes. You flipped your hair to a side as he put the necklace on you, leaving a delicate kiss on the back of your neck once he was done, which made you smile as wide as ever.
“Thank you, Kagami,” you said as he came and stood in front of you once more.
Kagami took your hand in his and the two of you travelled to prom together in his car. The two of you would usually go on drives together so being in the car with you made Kagami feel even more at ease.
When you finally got to prom though, all Kagami’s nerves seemed to disappear. Kagami did love a good party and this prom was no different. After the two of you had eaten, he dragged you to the dance floor with him so that he could show off his moves which made you laugh in delight.
The entire night was amazing. You got to spend so much time with Kagami, dancing, eating and laughing together. The prom ended with a slow dance for all the couples, by which both of you were exhausted. But you pulled through for one more dance.
Your arms were wrapped around Kagami’s neck while his hands held your hips as the two of you moved along to the rhythm of the song. “Tonight was amazing, Kagami,” you said, gazing into his eyes.
“Yeah I had a lot of fun with you,” Kagami replied, trying hard not to get lost in your eyes because he knew that he wouldn’t be able to pay attention to anything you say otherwise. “That necklace looks really nice on you by the way.”
You glanced down and the glimmering necklace and smiled, “I don’t think I’ll ever take it off.”
“Good, because that means I’ll always be with you,” he said as he placed a kiss on your forehead.
As the song played and you danced, you told each other that you loved each other and it seemed as though it was a moment you would remember forever. Your prom night with Kagami was certainly a night you’d never forget.

Lockdown Tag game; I got tagged by @we-are-not-amoosed thank you! I keep forgetting you know I exist, also I hope you had fun being drunk at midnight on a Tuesday hjhjhj.
First of all, a big FUCK YOU to tumblr, because I was at the LAST QUESTION and opened ONE NEW TAB to look up the word windmill, and when I went back to tumblr, my post was GONE, so here we go again. If an answer seems short of half-answered, it’s because I didn’t feel like typing everything again.
Are you staying home from work or school?
HA. Yes. Love that for me. Not at all. My university opened for 1 1/2 weeks in March 2020, then for another 4 weeks in November, and it has been closed ever since. I’m in my dormitory in the town I study in, not home home at my parents’ place though, because that would Not end well. The internet connection sucks though, that’s really annoying with distance learning. When I go into The City for A Thing, I usually cycle past my department and it makes we Yearn to go back in there, which is a thing I didn’t think would ever happen, but one pandemic later and suddenly everyone would kill for the change to go back to work/school in person, wouldn’t we?
If you’re staying home who is there with you?
I live in a dormitory, so technically, there’s a lot of other people there, but I don’t really talk to any of them except for when we meet in the hallways or the kitchen or wherever, so really it’s just me, the stuffed animal my friend got me last year because I kept whining that I didn’t have a cat like her at her boyfriend’s place where she basically lives now, and the birds who come to eat from the bird house I put on my balcony.
If it makes you feel any better @we-are-not-amoosed, not that I think it will but hey, who knows, my twin sister is moving out in December, so I will be the only child at home with my parents during summer/Christmas/Easter break, which will be Not Fun. I’ll take another 1 ½ years for my degree, and another 2 if I do a master’s, so that’s about... 1-3/4 years I’ll be alone with my parents while my perfect sister gets to move out and move on and live Adult Life fully respected as an Adult working with renewable energy, as opposed to the Disappointment who takes 5 years for a 3 year degree in a field that’s hard to find employment in and never Does Stuff like my mother wants me to Do Stuff.
Are you a homebody?
I’m with @we-are-not-amoosed there, I didn’t know what that meant, but Pons says “Stubenhocker”. A bit I guess? I’m definitely fine being home by myself if I’m unbothered there (read: not at my parents’ when they are home) and I do need time by myself to recharge. But probably like everyone else, I crave and enjoy social contact a ton more than Before. I meet a friend fairly often (aka the only friend still here instead of home for distance learning), and today we worked together (handing out flyers which idk why the company pays us to hand them out, like 95% of them get thrown away immediately, but hey, we’re getting paid 🤷) and then went to sit by the river, and there were SO MANY people there, it was not *entirely* corona-compliant (but outside with town-typical wind, so it’s fine I think, with my non-existent knowledge about spreading of viruses and such), but honestly? I just couldn’t be bothered to care in that moment: it was warm and sunny, I was there with a very close friend, people were laughing and dancing to good music, it was just so GOOD to be there, almost as if Corona didn’t exist. The police even drove by like they always do to check for people smoking weed and didn’t say anything like usual, so hey. It was just so good, okay? So, homebody? Within reason, I guess, but less than Before, probably.
An event you were looking forward to that eventually got cancelled?
Oh boy, SO MANY. The one I’m most bitter about was a very prestigious international interpreting event, that would have involved me interpreting in the actual European Parliament building in Strasbourg. But there was also a festival week with my best friend I was looking forward to, maybe even a second festival with another friend, my company’s ten year anniversary party, etc. And Prides! I came out to my family in 2019, and was like “Yay, I can finally go to Prides now!” but well 🤷
DUDE SO MANY ARE YOU KIDDING ME
CONCERTS: 5SOS (I SHOULD HAVE heard “Old Me” in a crowd full of other people getting nostalgic for their past selves, but NO), Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Rock im Park aka GREEN DAY AND RISE AGAINST (I have been trying to see Rise Against for YEARS and ALWAYS something gets in the way!), one or two small local artists.
ERASMUS: I should have gone to Russia for a semester to improve my not-too-great speaking skills but Corona said FUCK YOU you will study ALONE and LONELY in your ROOM like a child on TIMEOUT
PRIDE: none in particular, just generally it would have been nice to go, maybe even with a friend to the one in Vienna
Also just general stuff like birthdays and get-togethers with friends, and my club’s annual get-together was cancelled too, and it would have been my friend, sister and my’s 10-year-anniversary, so that sucked to get cancelled.
What movies have you watched recently?
Movies? Pfuh, I don’t know, I’m not really into movies anymore, tbh. TV-series and games are more my jam.
Descendants 1 +2, I finally watched those after I read so much fanfiction that I knew the plot without having watched a single scene that isn’t a music video that youtube kept showing me. They’re nice enough, if you overlook the fact that they make a 16-year-old king while there’s still perfectly capable adults but whatever, there’s a lot of cute moments (Carlos and Jane omg) and a lot of funny ones (UMA. Is HILARIOUS), the music kind of slaps ngl, and arguably Mal + Evie are queer and in love. I still want to watch the third soon, and rewatch The Hunger Games since it showed up on my dash recently.
What shows are you watching?
Rewatching Julie and the Phantoms forever until the end of time (or until season 2 comes out @netflix, and I started Brooklyn 99 again for background noise/low-energy background watching. A friend recommended Ginny & Georgia and it’s okay enough, but it’s written in a way that makes you want to keep watching because there’s just such whack stuff happening that you want it explained; it’s 1h episodes though, that’s a bit hard on my attention span. I want to rewatch FMA:B some time, too.
What are you reading?
@we-are-not-amoosed said “tumblr posts and the texts I translate at work” and if that isn’t a Mood. I’d love to read more, but my attention span is shit and my reading comprehension even worse. I *am* reading “Explain to me like I’m 5” atm which explains stuff easily, like, well, you’re 5 years old, so you’d think a 23-year-old could understand, no? No. I read it, I vaguely understand some stuff, I close the book, and it’s G-O-N-E, not a single thing left. Literally the only thing I remember – and this is why I had to re-write ^^^all that because I needed to look up the English word for Windräder, if that’s even what they’re called in German but whatever I’m tired – is that insects and birds die a LOT in windmills when they get too close and get sucked in and can’t escape anymore, which is one of the reasons windmills aren’t as environmentally friendly as we thought when we built them. Anyhow, I’d love to read more, but idk, there are a lot of posts on here, some I’ve reblogged, that are like.. something something reading fanfiction is easier because you already know the characters and universe something something less mental energy something something idk. Yeah I mostly read fanfiction these days. I hope I’ll get back to reading books sometime soon-ish, I have a long list.
What are you doing for self-care?
Hm. I meet my friend I mentioned above pretty regularly, and I have a notebook that I write stuff in that was nice or made me happy when that happened (like today: working with my friend and then sitting among people by the river in the sun with said friend). I’m getting a tattoo next week (3 cat paws + 1 dog paw = technically my two cats and my late cat and dog, but well, two of them are dead, so I asked two friends for a paw print of their cat and dog, so I’ll always have those two with me, too). I try to make a to-do-list each day, but I rarely stick to it. I apply eyeshadow and body glitter if I want to, I dye my hair bright colors (think pink, purple, blue, red, maybe orange next). I always have chocolate in my room meaning I stopped depriving myself of food I like/food in general because it’s “healthier”/”I need to lose weight” etc. all that you know all those great reasons. I went to a doctor about my knee and it ended up being useless but I went, so.
I also went to see a therapist but she is very useless, like “ended our first session telling me well she doesn’t know how to help me/if she can help me at all/if therapy would even help me” kind of useless; I’ll go again next week and see if that changes or if next week will be the last week and I’ll go back to Dealing Like Before, which is not great but whatever. I’ve lived until 23 without therapy, surely I can keep doing it. Therapy’s expensive if it’s not covered (which this doctor IS which is why I went to her but it’s still a waste of time) and if it’s not gonna work/not gonna help me apparently or if there’s nothing actually wrong OR that therapist is just like, bad at her job, what’s the point of going yk?
Uggggh, I hope the swimming pools and Zumba class will be open again soon, Zumba (also with said friend) is AMAZING, easy fun exercise you don’t need any knowledge or skill for and you can hang out with your friend by the street after for an hour and say goodbye five times and then remember one more thing you wanted to actually still mention and stand there for another 20 minutes hjhjhj. Best times, truly.
Idk this is probably not self-care but I got a small job working with Austrian German and it gnetflix the chance to save up a bit and add it to my resume and also hopefully get my mother to shut up about my non-existent job prospects for a bit, so that’s kind of helping in making me feel a bit more like I’m Being An Adult (also because it means I have to learn how to change my insurance and finance department stuff now, yey).
Tagging: @languages-and-else @psychicbouquetblaze-stuff @the-real-daddy-van-der-bellen @sunsetcurveofficial if you feel like doing it, also sorry @we-are-not-amoosed it became such a rambled long answe on almost everything hjhjhj

Spin The Bottle
i’m just gonna come out and say how much i hate this one shot already because it’s seriously bad. i had it planned to be like super cute, but you guys get this so... enjoy. chapter one of LYIALG will be up on Thursday!
a high school au one-shot
____
Josephine Wilson sat on the edge of her best friend Stephanie Edwards' bed, watching as she pulled shirt after shirt, skirt after skirt, pair of pants after pair of pants out of her closet, scattering them across the room as she threw them behind her aimlessly. It looked like a scene of out every young adult movie starring a late twenty year old trying to be sixteen. A total cliche.
"Ugh I can't find it!" her friend exclaimed frustratedly, huffing as she turned back to Jo with a pout on her face.
"Find what?" Jo asks, more focused on picking at the skin on her nails than her friends fashion moment. Damn cuticle, it wouldn't go down without it hurting like a bitch.
"My sparkly black top? You know that one? The one with the sequins and the v-neck..." she trails off in hopes that her best friend would know what shirt she was taking about.
Jo stands up immediately, looking through the closet closely and carefully, not making a huge mess like Steph.
She emerges a few seconds later, holding the hanger the top was on in her right hand with a small smirk on her face. The other girl's jaw drops wide open when she sees the item. "How?!" she exclaims. She'd been looking for the top for at least twenty minutes.
Jo just shrugs her shoulders, though it was probably due to the fact that she didn't flip the closet inside out while trying to find it. Turns out throwing clothes everywhere created and even bigger mess and wasn't helpful in the process of finding lost clothes.
Steph takes the shirt from the brunette, saying 'thank you' so many times Jo lost count. She didn't really see the big deal, it was literally just a shirt after all, but to Steph is seemed like life or death, so she took the gratitude.
The darker skinned girl shimmies out of her shirt before slipping the tank top over her head, adjusting it before turning around to face Jo, smoothing it down as she smiles. "Whadd'ya think?" she asks, spinning around.
The girl lets out a loud wolf whistle, showing her approval. She smirks, looking her friend up and down. "Jackson is gonna lose his shit." she says, referring to Steph's boyfriend, a senior named Jackson Avery, also known as the only reason they were going to the party. Having your best friend date someone a grade older had some serious perks (mainly getting into senior parties, but there were probably some other advantages too).
And she wasn't lying, Steph looked seriously hot in her figure hugging v-neck and ripped black jeans. She'd done simple makeup, but her bold red lip really stood out and made her whole outfit complete.
Snapping Jo out of her thoughts, the curly haired girl studies her, "What are you wearing to the party?" she asks, pinning back some of her baby hairs with a clip as she turns back to her mirror.
"This." Jo says, referring to her dark blue jeans and flannel she currently had on. It was comfy, and it's not like her latest foster family gave enough shits to buy her clothes that hadn't been hand me downs or from dingy thrift stores. Or enough shits to buy her clothes or give her money for them period.
The other girls face curls up, "No."
Jo quirks a brow, "No?"
"Nope, c'mon." she says, dragging the brunette back to the closet. "We're going to a senior party and you wear flannels every day. Tonight, you are gonna show off that fine ass figure of yours." Steph says adamantly, tutting at whatever clothes she didn't approve of as she flicked through the large closet.
Jo shakes her head immediately, making her almost get whip lash from how many times her head went back and forth. "No way Steph. I'm fine." She didn't want Steph's clothes. She didn't want any kind of charity or special treatment. Just because she couldn't afford 'party clothes' didn't mean she couldn't go to parties.
As if her friend read her mind, "It's not charity Jo, it's me begging you to play dress up with me." she smirks, referring to what the two did ever since they were little girls. They would steal Steph's mother's heels and prance around in them, taking bits of jewelry and piling it on their necks, arms, and fingers. Then, they would steal some of Mr. Edwards' shirts and use them as dresses for the royal ball. She misses those times, when all their worries were focused on which of their stiffed animals would be the prince to escort them during their first dance.
How could Jo say no to dressing up? For old times sake, if anything.
So, she lets Steph rummage through the closet once more, giving her full control. Jo couldn't put an outfit together for shit. Ask her a math problem, that was her area of expertise. But fashion? It'd be as useful as asking a brick wall. Actually, a brick wall might be more helpful.
Not too long after, the girl returns with a deep red, slightly ruffled tube top and black ripped jeans similar to her own.
"No way!" Jo exclaims once she sees the top. Sure, it was cute as hell, but seriously, how many times would she need to pull it up throughout the night? Nothing was more awkward looking then watching a girl pull up her top from under her armpits.
Because that was definitely attractive.
"Yes way!" Steph claps back, tossing the items directly at the brunette as she struggles to catch them. Oh yeah, another thing she was terrible at, sports.
"Pleaseeee," she begs, giving Jo her best puppy dog eyes, that she knew she couldn't resist.
Jo opens and closes her mouth, looking more and more like a fish every time she did so. "I don't have the right bra." she argues back lamely, but it wasn't too far from the truth. She'd seen most girls wear either a strapless or lacy bra underneath. She had neither.
"It's padded on the inside. You don't need one." the other girl argues.
To Jo that sounded even more uncomfortable, but she wasn't going to put up a fight now. It wouldn't be of use anyways. Steph would win either way, especially if she used those damn eyes again.
Steph was like her sister, so how was she supposed to say no to her sister?
Jo grumbles something inaudible before making her way into the bathroom and shutting the door behind her. She slips off her shirt and bra, sliding on the red tube top, thanking the universe that her and Steph were the same size, so it wasn't to big nor too small. She shimmies on the jeans, once again thankful that both her and Steph were size 2's. She honestly hated belts with a passion.
She pats down her outfit a few times, straightening out any crinkles, making sure that she didn't smudge any of her makeup as she pulled the top on. She honestly couldn't do makeup for shit, but she was proud of the minimalistic look she was able to pull together, which consisted of a cheap foundation and concealer, some nude eyeshadow, mascara, blush, and that was it. She was much more focused on trying to save for college than pay for makeup.
When she walks out of the bathroom Steph squeals, making Jo plug her finger's with her ears. The girl could squeal, she'll give her that.
"You look hot Jo." Steph says.
"Yeah yeah. Are we gonna get going, because i'm pretty sure we're already twenty minutes late." the brunette says, combing her fingers through her hair as she glances at the clock, which read 10:27. The party started at ten. Definitely late.
"Let me do this one thing," Steph says, dragging Jo to her vanity and sitting her down on the chair. "Eyeliner." she says, holding up the small tube of black liquid eyeliner.
"Fine." Jo huffs, closing her eye's as she feels the makeup get placed on first her eyelid, then the corner, letting Jo know that her friend was doing a wing. She was glad Steph was practically the queen of eyeliner and only needed to do it once because she wasn't sure how much patience she had in her to sit around. It'd been a rough Friday and all she really wanted to do was drink a beer and maybe make out with a hot guy.
After she opens her eyes she barely has time to say anything before she feels smearing on her lips, letting her know that Steph was putting lipstick on her. She doesn't remember agreeing to it, but again, sisters.
When she gets a chance to look in the mirror she sees that her lips were now a baby pink, the creamy lipstick was smooth and had a nice smell (a huge advantage in her book) and her eyeliner was done to perfection. Thank god for Stephanie Edwards.
The two smile at each other, "Ready?" the darker skinned girl asks just as Jo is about to leave the bedroom.
"Jacket!" she says, slapping a hand to her forehead, barely noticing how a cropped black jean jacket was heading her way before she ends up getting hit straight in the face.
Jo mumbles a thanks as she slips the jacket on, immediately feeling warmer now that her arms were covered. They pair walks down the stairs, saying a brief goodbye to Mrs. Edwards with a wave as they head out the door, making their way to Steph's car.
Steph slides into the driver's side and Jo into the passengers, blasting music all the way to the Avery house, a large white McMansion that already had a multitude of cars parked outside it. The girls get out of the car and walk up to the house, where they can hear techno music blaring from inside. They knock on the door, thinking it would be pointless until none other than Jackson himself pulls it open, greeting them both with a wide smile, jaw nearly dropping to the floor once he sees his girlfriend.
"Might want to close your mouth Avery, wouldn't wanna catch flies." Jo teases, patting the man on the shoulder twice before making her way to the kitchen and grabbing an unopened beer from the fridge. She pops off the top and takes a long sip, immediately feeling relieved as the liquid slides down her throat.
She leans against the counter, sipping on her beer as she watches the party move around her. She wasn't really a party girl. She'd rather spend her nights studying and reading than in crowds, but she had a total of three tests that day and she felt like letting off some steam, and what better way to do that than hang at Jackson Avery's house?
But seriously, partying really wasn't her scene. Sweaty bodies grinding on each other with their alcohol soaked breaths never seemed to be of much interest to her.  She makes small talk with Lexie Grey, one of her closest friends as they watch their surroundings, complaining about school and whatever comes to mind.
She's not sure how long they talk for, but she assumes that it's been awhile because before she knows it, Steph is dragging both her and Lexie by the arms up the stairs. "Spin the bottle!" she says, tipsily tripping as she makes her way up the steps.
The other girls exchange glances, but turn back and enter the room Steph was dragging them into, finding to be filled with seniors Jo recognized for the most part. Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Derek Shepherd, Owen Hunt, Callie Torres, Mark Sloan, Arizona Robbins, Alex Karev, and Jackson Avery sat in a circle, a single beer bottle in the middle of them all.
"I didn't think people actually played this game..." Cristina mumbles, loud enough for everyone to hear, making them murmur in agreement. Jo took a seat next to Lexie, who was next to her boyfriend Mark. She felt a bit out of place, but decided to suck it up. If the game was as entertaining as they made it seem in movies and TV shows then why not enjoy it.
"Shush Yang. Just for that you're going first." Jackson smirks.
The raven head's mouth drops open, groaning before mumbling things incoherently under her breath before speaking up, grinning devilishly. "Fine, but one rule..." she looks around the circle. "You gotta make out with your person." she bites the inside of her lip.
"Unless you feel completely uncomfortable with it." she finishes, knowing that she wouldn't really want to make out with a certain person she called Evilspawn.
A few people give cheers of approval while others moan. This was going to be interesting. She spins the bottle, the cluster of students watching it spin around and around before it lands on Meredith, her best friend.
The guys of the group cheer loudly (mostly Alex and Mark) as the two make their way to each other before crashing their lips together, laughing as they make out sloppily, much to the amusement of the others. Even Jo had to admit that watching the two women struggle to keep a straight face was quite amusing.
Maybe this game wouldn't be so bad after all.
____
So far the group had been playing for about thirty minutes and things had definitely gotten interesting at moments. When Derek landed on Mark the whole room bursted into laughter, Meredith and Cristina pulling out their phones to video the moment. The two men cringed, scrunching their faces up as they straightened their posture before pressing their lips as far out as they would go, only getting a small peck when their lips touched, but that was enough for them to wipe at their lips furiously and start trying to cleanse their mouths with beer. Men.
It was Arizona's turn and she watched the bottle spin around when it eventually lands on Alex, making him try to hide a chuckle, knowing she was a least hoping for a girl.
"I won't kiss you Robbins if you don't want me to." the man says sincerely, making Jo look up from her fingers, a bit surprised. The Alex Karev she'd heard about was a complete ass.
Arizona shrugs it off, her blonde hair bouncing. "Nah, there's a first time for everything right?" she smirks. "You know Karev, you'll be the first guy I've ever kissed." she says, making him nod.
"Can't say you'll be the first girl i've ever kissed." he retorts, making her smack his shoulder.
"Shut up. Okay. Be nice." she reprimands him, leaning forward without warning and capturing her lips on his, holding it for five seconds before pulling away.
Alex raises his eyebrows, he was expecting a peck, but that would work too. "So?..." he trails off.
She shrugs her shoulders, "You're a good kisser." she licks lips. "But girls taste better." she smirks, earning a round of applause and laughs.
Alex chuckles and spins the bottle not longer after Robbins takes her seat, Jo watching it spin around and around until it lands on... her? She hadn't been landed on yet, so it was a bit of a surprise.
The man sends her a crooked smirk as she gets up from her spot relatively nervously before sitting in front of him. Okay no, she was actually really nervous. She didn't know much about Alex Karev other than the fact that he had slept with a good amount of the school and broke lots of girls hearts by not calling them back. He'd kissed a lot of girls, what if he thought she was a terrible kisser?
Shut up Jo-, she's immediately cut out of her train of thought by the man's lips on her's. She was stoic for a split second, before kissing him back, the kiss quickly going from soft to passionate as they feel fire build in the pit of their stomach.
They both forgot everything in that moment, where they were at, who they were. The noise around them faded out until it was just the sounds of their lips moving against each other hungrily, trying to taste as much of they other as they could.
They eventually pull back for air, remembering where they were and that all eyes were on them. Jo blushed at the sight but looked back to Alex, who's eyes were shining with a lust she'd never seen anyone wear before. Alex on the other hand, doesn't seem the slightest bit bothered as he stares at her first in bewilderment, trying to figure out what this girl was making him feel, then smirks, pulling her onto his lap and into another breathtaking kiss. She grips onto his hair as his hands roam her sides.
She knows that this wasn't a part of the game, but she really couldn't care less. Alex Karev could kiss her like that for as long as he wanted.
He knew it was only supposed to be one kiss, but damn, this girl he'd only seen a couple times from the distance was making him want her more and more with every movement that her lips made on his.
He pulls away for a split second, looking at the group who was staring at the pair with wide eyes. "I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon, so somebody take her turn." he mutters gruffly before kissing her once more, slipping his tongue into her mouth as they fight for dominance.
And let me tell you, they definitely did not stop anytime soon.

more Vamp Glimmer and Supposedly-werewolf-actually-just-a-furry Adora
- Not-sure-if-dating-vampire-or-cosplayer Adora chatting with any bats she sees in case they are girlfriend
- putting out a welcome mat so possible vamp gf won't ever be stuck outside her apartment
- (it doesn’t quite work like that but adora leaves the mat out anyway) (just in case)
- watching Glimmer determinedly eat pizza while Bow facepalms and looking out for her when she gets violently sick later and being like ? Lactose intolerant?? OR deadly vampiric garlic allergy???
- its both
- and worth it
- Vampire glimmer remembering seeing her gf fight off a werewolf and screams internally bc adora is human she could have DIED
- also how strong is she to fight off a werewolf while wearing a full body realistic furstuit???
- hooman gorlfriend STRONK!!
-Question: how did human adora fight off actual werewolf?
-Answer: she read somewhere that werewolf bite could one hit K.O. vampires. Pure protective girlfriend panic did the rest
- this gets swapped once glimmer realizes her gf is 100% human, and very mortal, and won't actually regenerate or heal in moonlight, and could potentially be cursed for all eternity or eaten
- anything supernatural and not friendly within 100 yards of Adora can and will be mobbed by a cauldron of killer bats
- Adora think this is Very Cool
- but she also still wants to Fight too
- Bow face palms even though he isn’t even there to see it he can just sense them being reckless gay idiots by now he can just TELL
- Bow’s not a vampire YET but he’s been thinking about it for years bc his best friend is an immortal undead being of the night and he never wants her to be lonely
- Glimmer was actually a dhampire originally but uh a thing happened- Bow got mistaken for an actual vampire and she jumped in to protect and.... turns out that dhampires come back as vampires when they ‘die’. Who knew?
- (glimmer’s just grateful she got done with high school before she changed. collage would have made her a nocturnal shut in anyway so no biggie)
- Glimmer’s mom (also Vampire) was a lot more freaked out over it
- it made her a lot less pleased with the idea of Glimmer dating a werewolf aka a thing that hunts vampires on instinct once a month and is one of the few creatures capable of killing them fairly easily
- she made a lot of very thinly veiled threats to Adora
- Adora was Confused
- Adora spent a whole year thinking Glimmer’s goth dad had been killed by a furry and they even had a talk about how Glimmer felt dating Adora and how she didn’t want Adora to trying being someone else bc she was already nothing like the people who attacked her dad and SOMEHOW they still didn’t figure things out. Amazing
- Micah isn’t dead he was a human who got attacked by werewolves for being around Vampire Angella and she turned him to save him but he has to spend a few decades in underground recuperating before he can wake up again :(
- Glimmer, back when she was a living dhampire, was really scared he’d sleep for centuries and she’d never get to talk to him again
- another reason she’s cool with being a 100% vampire now
- Vampire Glimmer leans into her vampireness with glee- smokey eyeshadow, glitter, metal studs, corsets and fancy skirts, black lace fingerless gloves, lots of moon themed pendents, earrings that look like drops of blood, etc
- She calls her fashion TRAS-ylvanian Vamp-bi-er because she also uses the trans and bi pride flag colors just like, constantly
- Vampire Glimmer: Things I need to survive. One, clothes themed pink-purple-blue, and Two, clothes themed Blue-Pink-White
Bow: What about blood?
Vampire Glimmer: Oh, yeah. That too I guess
- Vampire glimmer can sprout smol bat wings
- she is very pissed. her mom’s wings are HUGE and she cannot WAIT to have wings big enough to use as her own ultimate vampire cape
- after finding out Adora is actually a human Angella gets worried for Glimmer in a whole new way
- by then she’d actually warmed up to ‘werewolf’ Adora and trusted her and was actually glad Glimmer’s girlfriend had some supernatural powers to protect her, but now Glimmer is with a human just like Angella was, and she’ll either lose Adora like Angella almost lost Micah or have to make the choice to change her and possibly be left with the guilt of that for the rest of her eternal life
- (Angella’s a little terrified of Micah waking up. What if he doesn’t like being a vampire? What if he pretends he’s fine with it but secretly isn’t and is lonely and miserable forever??)
- she talks with glimmer about it all and they share many hugs. Yay undead mother-daughter bonding!
- but this also makes glimmer worry bc she used to think her turning Adora a non-issue bc werewolf but now it’s a thing they have to think about and UGH her head hurts blegh whatever
- not long after Glimmer catches Adora very seriously trying on some cheap fake party fangs and taking notes on how they feel
- Glimmer laughs so hard she cries
- then she almost dies when Adora asks her “Vat’s vrong?”
- back to the I Am A Furry reveal, Adora sits down with Glimmer and explains that sometimes a furry is just a person who has a fursona and like dressing up as it if they can afford to and that’s literally all there is to it
- glimmer does some research and comes back with even more questions
Vampire Glimmer: If your fersona is bipedal werewolf but your fursuit is hyper-realistic to point where i thought it was a REAL wolf, then does that make you a Feral or just a detailed Anthro?
Adora: how do you KNOW about all this??
Vampire Glimmer: google exists. now answer the question so I know which terrible pun to send in Bow’s good morning text
-For the next few months after finding out The Truth glimmer suffers like, two more Truths per day
- Vampire Glimmer, texting from inside her coffin: Wait, if you’re not a werewolf then why do you eat your meat so raw?
Adora: .... i can’t cook...
Vampire Glimmer: .......... fair enough
- half an hour later -
Vampire Glimmer, texting again: WAIT if you’re not a werewolf then how come you get all moody and grumpy and run off into the woods every full moon??
Adora: LARPing is fun but also stressful and brings on my period AND you can’t fully appreciate a good werewolf fursuit without both the right backdrop and bright moonlight
Vampire Glimmer: Oh. huh
- half an hour later -
Vampire Glimmer, calling adora from inside coffin: Why do you always smell like dog
Adora, sobbing: I VOLUNTEER AT AN ANIMAL SHELTER DURING THE DAY MY SHIFT IS IN TWO HOURS  PLEASE  LET ME REST IN PEACE
Vampire Glimmer: OH MY GOD I’M SORRY BUT WHY ARE YOU EVEN ANSWERING YOUR PHONE
Adora, sobbing harder: I JUST REALLY LOVE TALKING TO YOU!!!
Vampire Glimmer: BABE I LOVE YOU TOO BUT THIS IS INSANE EVEN DEAD PEOPLE NEED MORE SLEEP THAN YOU’RE GETTING
- glimmer texts bow and has him make an emergency coffee run to Adora’s so she be kinda sorta functional. This becomes a ritual and Bow joking complains about having to do their ‘dark bidding’ (adora drinks her coffee black) (Glimmer hates that Bow managed to make a both a vampire AND a coffee pun)
- by far the most horrifying thing of all is the fact that Adora has no canine allergy to chocolate. She just doesn’t like it
- vampire! Glimmer lies awake for several days trying to process this
- in the end they both just really love each other <3

Asexual Supernatural MiniBang 2019: He’s a Little Bit Country by JessJesstheBest with art by Tiki ( @never-used-ever)
"Tell me what we’re doing here today, Clarence.” Castiel shifted on his feet, moodily, but answered her in a grumble. “We’re putting on a concert benefit for Planned Parenthood.” “Right! And why is that?” “Because this country is run by a monster who is trying to take away the reproductive rights of women and we need to raise money to continue to fund our program which helps women have agency in their own bodies."
Or the one where Castiel, as part of planned parenthood, puts on a joint punk and country benefit concert where he meets Dean Winchester, the handsome country enthusiast who is also an asshole.
“This is by far the weirdest musical lineup I have ever seen…”
Meg snorted, reaching as far as she could on her ladder to make sure the sign was hanging straight. “You’ve never been to Bonnaroo, have you?”
Castiel hummed, tilting his head in allowance. He hadn’t ever been to Bonnaroo but he had heard about it. Any festival that had Phish on one stage and Cardi B on another was definitely going to be weirder than anything they were putting on.
But still…
“I guess it’s just weird to me because country music is usually so insular,” Castiel continued, eyes up at Meg where she was at the top of the ladder he was holding for her. “I mean, they have their own awards show. The regular Grammys and AMA aren’t good enough for them. They need special awards for their special jesus and banjo music.”
Meg looked down at him with a reproachful frown but her eyes danced with laughter. “Clarence, we talked about this. This is a unity concert. You can’t be mean to literally half of the guests.”
Castiel huffed grumpily. “Still not sure why we even needed –”
Meg groaned, and climbed down off the ladder. She reached up to clap both her hands on his shoulders. She was normally much shorter than him but she was wearing her platform combat boots for today’s event so her eyes were level with his nose.
“Tell me what we’re doing here today, Clarence.”
Castiel shifted on his feet, moodily, but answered her in a grumble. “We’re putting on a concert benefit for Planned Parenthood.”
“Right! And why is that?”
“Because this country is run by a monster who is trying to take away the reproductive rights of women and we need to raise money to continue to fund our program which helps women have agency in their own bodies.”
She tweaked his nose. “Got it, bud!” Castiel couldn’t help but smile a little, even at the diminutive gesture. “And how do we get those funds in this podunk ass college town?”
“Colleges are liberal,” Castiel argued, his jaw stiff.
Meg flicked his ear. “No no no. We went over this. College students do not have the kind of money we need. We need to appeal to the townies. What do townies like?”
Cas ducked his head, the toe of his own combat boot grinding into the gravel. “Country music.”
“Theeeere ya go.” Meg patted him on the cheek. He couldn’t help but preen a little at the praise, even if he wouldn’t let Meg know it. “Besides!” she continued. “A lot of country music is totally anti-establishment. Half the songs are about the labor movement! I’ve told you about the Welsh miners uniting with the queer community and–”
“Yes, yes, the Dulais valley. You cry every time you tell me about it.”
Meg nodded, her eyes, indeed, watery. “It’s just so moving .”
Castiel chuckled, bringing up his own hands to pat Meg on the cheek, much like she had. “Yes, I believe it is. And I know you’re right.” He sighed. “I’m just having trouble accepting that I’ll have to suffer through a night with the type of people I spent all of my teen years staying away from.”
Meg pouted at him, bringing him in close so she could rub his back. “I know, sweetie. Revolution demands we make ourselves uncomfortable. That’s just how it is.” She pulled back and smiled at him. “But don’t worry: I’ll be here with you the whole time.”
Castiel blushed, rolling his eyes. “I know what you’re doing,” he told her. “And your dominatrix powers won’t work on me. I’m asexual, remember?”
Meg laughed, reaching up to tweak his nose again. “They already have worked, Clarence. And you know as well as I do that domming doesn’t have to be sexual. Look at how well I just calmed you down.”
Castiel frowned petulantly but kept himself tucked to her side. She laughed at him, reaching up to ruffle his hair.
“They don’t pay me the big bucks to be a shitty Dominatrix, Clarence.”
“They don’t pay you for that at all, anymore,” Cas pointed out. “You’re paid to organize this shit now.”
“Yeah, but it did pay for these boots.” She grinned down at her platformed boots. The buckles were rose gold. “Well, indirectly. One of my clients bought them for me.”
Castiel wrinkled his nose. He was all about free sexual expression but whenever Meg brought up whatever the Allos™ got up to, it still skeeved him out.
“Right,” he said. She grinned at him, a little evilly. He pulled away from her, rolling his eyes again, and fixed his denim vest. It was his only concession to the theme: adding blue denim to his outfit. The arm holes were frayed, it was studded, and there were more patches and safety pins visible than fabric, but it was still a denim vest.
Meg had made no concessions to the theme. She still wore her same fishnets, connecting the top of her boots to the bottom of her cuffed denim shorts. She wore a torn Pussy Riot crop top under a torn leather jacket. Her hair was in a top knot, showing off the severe undercut and the anarchy symbol tattooed on the back of her neck.
She looked great. Not exactly what one would expect from a community youth organizer –  even one for Planned Parenthood – but really great.
As he looked her over, she was looking at him, evil smirk still on her face.
“For someone who’s here to bitch about half of the festival’s attendees, you sure do look like you’re dressing to impress…”
Castiel scowled, his lip ring poking out with his bottom lip.
He had dressed mindfully, not knowing what would go best with the denim vest as he rarely wore it out (he liked tank tops that could show off his massive back tattoo) so it did kind of look like he was trying harder than normal.
He’d settled on torn black skinny jeans (obviously, even if it was August) and a purple muscle tee cropped to just below his belly button under the vest. The shirt also repped iconic queer punk band, The Queers, because, although he was following theme, he didn’t want anyone to mistake him for a heterosexual.
“Who would I impress with this outfit?” Castiel asked, deliberately poking his finger through a hole in the collar of his shirt.
“Not just the outfit,” Meg said, crossing her arms. “You’ve got your stars on today.”
Castiel touched the corner of his eye, reflexively. “I do these every day.”
“But not on your hands. ”
Castiel grimaced. He had, in fact, stenciled stars onto the backs of his hands that morning. They went from his fingers and trailed halfway up his forearms.
It was, admittedly, a lot for an event he said he hadn’t cared about.
“I got carried away…” he said, turning his hands over to look at the pattern. He did really like the way it looked. Maybe he’d get something tattooed in this pattern… “I feel weird whenever you can’t see my back tattoo. I think I tried to compensate.”
Meg laughed, bringing her hand up to trace over the stars across Cas’s cheekbone. “I like the asymmetry today,” she told him, lightly tapping at the triangle of stars next to his left eye. The right eye only had one.
“Thank you,” he said, before grabbing her hand and gently pulling it away. “But please don’t smudge them. It’s just eyeshadow.”
Meg laughed again, bringing her hands back to herself. Her phone rang.
“Yeah,” she answered it, eyes narrowing in preparation. She was in charge of the whole event: she’d been putting out a lot of fires.
He watched her nod and hum and roll her eyes occasionally before sighing and hanging up. “I gotta take this. You mind being the welcoming committee?”
Castiel grimaced. He was said to be many things, but welcoming was not one of them.
“I know, sugar,” Meg said in response to his face, scrunching her nose in sympathy. “But you don’t have to do anything but direct people to the stage and thank them for coming.”
Castiel grunted, still scowling, but Meg took that for the acceptance it was. She smirked, kissing him on the cheek, and walking backstage to figure out whatever needed figuring out.
Castiel sighed, turning toward the fence that separated the audience bit of field from the regular, non-audience bit of field. There was a reason the townies liked country music: the university was in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. Fields were the cheapest and easiest venue for a concert.
There was a $10 recommended donation for entry but in practice it was ‘pay what you can.’ The vendors, too, were contributing a portion of their proceeds to Planned Parenthood, so even if most guests paid less than $10, they were still netting a decent amount, especially considering the crowd slowly filtering in through the gate.
Castiel was happy on Meg’s behalf about the turnout but the masses of people converging on him definitely stressed him out.
“Hi!”
Castiel spun, startled, to see a chipper-looking redhead in a flannel shirt smiling up at him.
“Uh, hi.”
“Hi!” she said again, smiling wider now that he’d returned her greeting. “Are you with Planned Parenthood?”
“Oh. Yeah,” Castiel said, forcing himself to smile. “Sorry, the concert’s going to start over that way–”
“Oh, no, I know. I wanted to ask you something else. I heard Maddie and Tae were coming?”
Castiel frowned, trying to think of who Maddie and Tae could be.
The redhead must have taken Castiel’s frown as a denial. Her face fell. “They’re not coming? But they would be perfect–!”
“Charlie no, come on,” said a man standing just behind Charlie that Castiel hadn’t noticed. “They suck so much. They’re barely even country.”
Castiel frowned harder, not caring for his tone. He had given her the hint he’d needed though: Maddie and Tae = country artists.
“Actually, they will be performing tonight,” Castiel said, casting a dark look at the man. He too was wearing flannel, though he’d taken it a step further and also put on a cowboy hat. Castiel fought not to roll his eyes before turning back to the girl. “When we reached out to them, they were very excited to support our message, being huge feminists and all.”
The girl, Charlie, smiled brightly again. “I know! They’re awesome.”
The guy snorted behind her. Castiel turned to him again, murder in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, do you have a problem with strong women spreading the word of feminism? If so, you are definitely at the wrong event.”
Cowboy Hat did roll his eyes, clearly not having the same restraint as Castiel. “Come on, man, it’s not about that. They’re just glorified pop stars pretending to be country.”
“Well I should hope so,” Castiel said coldly. “What you call ‘real’ country music is a misogynist institution that fights to maintain the white-centric heteronormative status quo of the south. Every person who likes ‘real’ country is a backwoods hick who voted for Trump and has never even met a gay person in their life."
Charlie sucked in some air through her teeth. “Okay, maybe we–”
“No, Charlie, let him talk.” The guy pulled his shoulders back and crossed his arms and it was at this point that Cas realized if his combat boots didn’t have a slight heel, this man would be taller than him. “I want to hear more about what this narrow-minded asshole thinks of country music. I’d love to get his opinion on Mellencamp, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson. You know –  those backwoods hicks.”
Castiel scowled. He didn’t know anything about any of those artists.  was confused as to why this guy would bring them up.
“What? Nothing to say to that? I’m sure you’ve got something to say about the Dixie Chicks.”
“Yes,” Castiel jumped on this, grinning that he had something to say about it. “They’re performing tonight! They’re always looking for chances to perform since being blacklisted from the country community after speaking out against–”
“George W. Bush, I know,” the man said, rolling his eyes again. “You don’t get bonus points for knowing about one of the hottest controversies in music history.”
“I don’t need your fucking bonus points,” Castiel spat, “I was making a point that the industry of country music rejects anything that might be at all progressive .”
“Well, we weren’t talking about the fucking industry ,” the guy spat right back, taking a step toward Castiel. Behind him, Charlie grabbed his arm with a reproachful, ‘Dean’
“You think the punk industry is free from sin? What about the Casualties and Front Porch Step? Pwr Bttm? How do you defend punk fans defending sexual assault?”
Castiel felt his face heat up in anger and embarrassment. He, of course, knew about the sexual assault scandals by those bands but, seeing as he and his friends soundly rejected bands once they showed to be harboring abusers, he didn’t think about them much.
It still begged the question, “Where are you pulling these facts from?”
The guy – Dean – grinned viciously. “I’m a sociology major with a minor in music. Just because I've lived in one town my whole life doesn't make me an idiot. I know at least TWO gay people.” He reached behind him for Charlie’s arm and pulled her forward. “Meet Charlie. Lesbian and my best friend.”
Charlie looked embarrassed, either on behalf of her friend, Castiel, or herself, but she smiled and reached a hand forward to shake Castiel’s.
Castiel shook it, dully. “Castiel.”
“Dean,” the guy said, smugly, not bothering to extend his hand. Castiel shot him another nasty look.
“Thank you for coming,” Castiel said, through his teeth. Dean winked.
Charlie laughed, pulling her hand back and punching Castiel on the shoulder. “We’re gonna be best friends. I can tell.”
Castiel rubbed absently at his arm where Charlie punched him. “Right,” he said.
Both Dean and Charlie grinned.
“Well… I should,” Castiel jerked his thumb over his shoulder, “I should see if Meg needs anything. Her event. Very stressful. You get it.”
Dean nodded, still smug. Castiel grit his teeth.
“Find us later!” Charlie told him, again smiling.
Castiel smiled back, reflexively, even though he knew he wasn’t going to find them. He liked Charlie – it wasn’t her fault her friend was a jackass.

Mutilated Mannequin (Part 22)
Azula’s festival dress is form fitting and reaches just above her knees with a hem lined with a shimmery fringe of electric blue. Well aware that much of the festival and viewing party will take place outside, she finds herself the custom leggings that match the complexion of her skin. She slips them on and goes to fetch her necklace. She isn’t sure that she needs a necklace at all. The collar of her dress is eye-catching enough with its line of glimmering rubies. The entirety of the dress is adorned with many zigzagging fingers of that same electric blue. It starkly contrasts the bright red silk of the dress and glitters in the light.
She wears her hair up and spices it up with blue and red glitter. It is slightly curled. Her mother has worked the better part of the evening to style it for her before wandering off to check on Zuko--who, with the help of their father, should be in his tux.
She hasn’t yet seen her entire ensemble, but assumes that it suits her better than her homecoming dress did and she is glad that she hadn’t wasted wearing it then.
Azula closes stands before the mirror for a very long time with her eyes closed. The skin beneath her fingers is still so rough and somewhat lumpy. It alleviates her nervous anticipation none.
She lets a few more moments pass her by before she opens her eyes. She both wishes she hadn’t and wishes that she had done it sooner. She wishes mostly, that she would have looked at herself earlier, that she would have given herself time to get used to the damage dealt. Most of the scar tissue is gathered on her cheek left cheek; a long and thin raised line where the blade had once dragged. In some places there are still lumps. Small lumps, but bumps sizable enough to be noticed with ease. Strangely contrasting the lumps, that cheek is sunken. Far too thin. Thin enough to make her look almost malnourished.
Though the scar tissue is less on the right side of her face, she thinks that, that side looks profoundly more horrific. It is just as thin, perhaps moreso, and makes her wish that she still had her babyfat. At least then she had looked healthy. She considers for the first time, and all too late, that the puffiness that she had hated so much was perfectly natural.
Movement on that side is still terribly limited, rendering that half of her face slack. It is that slackness that seems to create the lack of symmetry.
Azula’s stomach lurches, she never did like asymmetry, it always made her headache. It instilled within her this unbearable desire to recreate the symmetry and her head would throb until she did. But, God, she can’t create symmetry on her face.
She wraps her arms around herself, leans against the wall, and slides to the floor. She had expected to dislike her new face, but she hadn’t expected it to make her feel physically sick. She lets out a small, gasping sob.
She should have waited until after the festival to ruin her night.
She feels queasy and anxious and suddenly it seems like a trick or a joke that Katara wants to spend any time with her, much less take her on a first date to a festival.
“Azula!” She hears her mother shout. She tries to pacify herself. “Katara is here.”
She wipes her eyes with the back of her hand and stands up, her stance is unsteady and somewhat weak as she makes her way towards the door. By the time she reaches the staircase, Katara is already halfway up it. She greets Azula with a bright smile, those big blue eyes seeming to sparkle under the chandelier’s light. Her dress is more practical with long sleeves and a long train, made of navy blue velvet. It is simpler than Azula’s own having only a few faux diamonds at the neckline and a trim of fake white fur on the sleeves and at the hem. Still, the dress is lovely and it fits her better than any excess glitz could ever.
She wears her hair down in deep brown waves. Thin strands of her bangs are held back with two small, pearl hair combs. A few more pearls are weaved into her hair, Azula can’t tell if they are genuine.
“Hi Azula. You look nice tonight.”
Azula doesn’t believe that, not for a second. But she believes that Katara does and she says as much.
“Are you ready to go?” Katara asks.
“I need to put some makeup on.”
She must sound terribly glum. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” Azula insists.
“Let me help you with your makeup?
Azula nods. “I hope that you’re amazingly skilled with makeup because…”
“I promise, it won’t take that much makeup to make you look beautiful.” She takes a limp Azula into a hug. Her head hangs over Katara’s shoulder as the girl rubs her back.
“You can say what you really think.” Azula informs softly. “I already know…”
“I am saying what I really think.” Katara holds her ground. “That dress looks nice on you.”
“It would look nicer on someone who has a flattering face to go with it.” She folds her arms over her chest.
Katara’s expression darkens and that enthusiastic glimmer in her eyes is gone. “I thought that you were done with that…”
“Yes. But then I actually saw what it looked like.”
Katara’s eyes go momentarily wide. “You mean that tonight is the first time you’ve seen your face since the surgery?”
Azula gives a slow and forlorn nod.
“Oh, Azula.” She almost sounds like her mother. “What are we going to do with you?” She adds a small and sad laugh.
“Fix my face?” Azula mumbles. “It’s gross.”
Katara takes her by the shoulders and moves her so that she can look into her eyes. “I don’t want to change you, Azula. I don’t have any trouble looking at your face. Sokka doesn’t either. Chan and Tylee… and Mai. I think that you’re the only person who thinks that it looks gross.” Before Azula can open her mouth Katara adds, “Jet’s opinion doesn’t count and Yue’s we can consider but…”
“It’s questionable.” Azula finishes she forces a laugh. “I’m skeptical of anything Yue says.” She stands and beckons for Katara to follow her to her bedroom.
“I promise, you look fine. Your face doesn’t bother anyone that matters.”
“It bothers me.”
“I think that you just have to get used to it.” Katara guesses. She picks up two lipsticks. “Which one do you want?”
Azula points at the bright red, Katara is already applying it when it occurs to her that such a bold choice in color will draw unwanted attention to her face. She hopes that the lipstick will be bright enough to keep their focus on her lips rather than her ravaged cheeks.
“You don’t understand.” She says after Katara swaps out the lipstick for some eyeliner. Katara quirks a brow and Azula takes that as her cue to continue. “Look at my room.” She gives her girlfriend a chance to take it in. It’s immaculate cleanliness and the tedious and orderly fashion in which all of her belongings are arranged from the alignment of her shelves, dressers, and bed to the collection of trophies on her dresser and crystals on her nightstand.  Even the stuffed pandas on her bed and the fairy lights wrapped around the bed posts are perfectly straight. There is an impeccable balance about the room. “It’s all symmetrical or at least balanced. Everything is where it is supposed to be.”
“I can tell.” Katara replies. “You’d hate Sokka’s room.” She dabs some eyeshadow gently atop Azula’s lids.
“I don’t like when things are lopsided or out of place. It hurts my head. It’s like this itch that won’t go away until I straighten whatever it is up. I can’t do that with my face. It’s literally going to drive me insane.”
Katara puts the makeup brushes aside and takes Azula’s hands. “You’re going to be fine.” She looks around the room. “How about this, you can wear one of those masquerade half-masks to the festival. You family has crazy cash, I’m sure that your dad could buy you a bunch of those masks until you’re comfortable looking at your face again.” She seems to grow more excited with each word. “It could be your thing! I don’t know anyone else who spices up their school uniform with a mask. I’m sure Pathik would make an exception to the dress code for you. He likes you.”
“I guess that, that could work.” Azula replies. She picks up the mask that came with her dress and slips it over her face.”
“But since it was my idea I want you to do something for me.”
Azula rolls her eyes. “What?”
“Just promise me that you’ll look at your face, without the mask, at least once a day. Even if it’s just when you brush your teeth or comb your hair in the morning.”
“Perhaps.”
“You have to get used to seeing yourself like this. I don’t want you to have to cover your face forever.” She pauses. “I want you to appreciate yourself for who you are. For that to happen, you’re going to have to…”
“Accept it first.” Azula finishes. She inhales deeply and removes the mask once more. “I’m still going to steal your mask idea though.”
“You really like attention, don’t you?”
“I like to...make myself known.” She clarifies. “I feel like people will remember the person who comes to school wearing a different mask every other day.”
“Every other day?”
“Yes.” Azula says. “I’ll tolerate looking at the asymmetry for a day and then I’ll give myself a break from that. Is that a problem.”
“No!” Katara says quickly. “That’s...that’s actually more than I thought you’d be willing to do.”
“You thought that I was going to be dramatic about this didn’t you?”
“You were definitely dramatic. ‘It’s literally going to drive me insane’.” Zuko mocks from in the doorway. Azula chucks her mask at him. “Jesus.” He rubs his arm, that goofy grin never leaves his face.
“I thought that you’d want to take baby steps, is all.” Katara answers.
Azula crinkles her nose. “If I’m going to do something, I’m going to put a real effort in.” She turns back to Zuko. “Where’s Mai?”
“Fussing with Tom-Tom again. You two are probably going to have to meet me there.”
“You’re our ride, dumb dumb.” Azula collects her mask and finds her favorite perfume; a rose fragrance in a dragon shaped bottle. “Do you want a spray.”
Katara holds up a different perfume with a seashell bottle, “I’d like to try this one.”
“Go on.”
While she is there, she might as well start now; she takes another breath and spares the mirror a look as she gives the perfume bottle a few pumps.
.oOo.
“It’s beautiful!” TyLee gasps. “It’s been such a long time since I really looked at the stars.”
“Your gymnastics season is almost over, yes?” Azula asks.
“Yeah, unfortunately.”
“You can follow Katara and I to the astronomy club.”
“Oh yeah! I could do that!” She replies.
“Do you guys want to try candle making?” Zuko cuts in, he jabs his thumb in the direction of an activity stall.
Mai shrugs, “I’ll tag along.”
“I like scented candles.” TyLee tugs Chan towards the stall.
Azula exchanges a look with Katara, “do you want to make one together.”
“I’d like that.” She smiles.
Azula finds that she likes working with the wax, it warms her hands as she shapes the candle. Katara had insisted that they use blue wax and let Azula pick the shape. Ultimately she decides to make a simple pillar candle. She fades different shades of blue wax into each other while Katara etches in stars of silver glitter. It smells of blueberry and ocean spray. Both Yue and TyLee have created candles of pink; TyLee’s is a bubblegum scented pastel and Yue’s a bright pink, peach smelling abomination. It grows worse still when Kei Lo adds a touch of red apple.
Expectedly, Mai insists on a black candle that smells of licorice and cherry.
“Where’s your brother anyways?” Azula asks.
“He and Suki wanted to do a little holiday shopping before coming here, that’s why I told them to drop me off at your place.”
“And Aang?”
“I think that he and Teo are trying to convince Toph to come. She says that she gets tired of pointing at random spots in the sky and claiming to see aliens.”
“She knows that there are other things to do here, right?”
Katara shrugs and then takes a step back to look at their candle. “I think that we’re done.”
Azula moves it to the drying rack to be picked up at the candle lighting hour. Katara takes Azula’s hand, “why aren’t you wearing gloves?” She asks.
“They don’t match my dress.”
“Your hands are freezing!” She exclaims. “Take my gloves or let’s go get a cup of hot chocolate. Geeze, my mom would kill me if I came out here without gloves!”
“I’m not cold.” Azula denies.
“You are too.” Katara huffs. “You’re shivering.”
Azula gives a soft and stubborn pout. “I’m fine.” She insists, her words accented by teeny puffs of fog that do little to help her case. The smoky wisps trail in brief bursts towards the sky. She watches them drift, fading away before they can even reach the strings of soft gold lights that connect one food stall to the next. The strings of light bob in the same snowy gust that shakes the paper lanterns.  She supposes that the atmosphere is very pleasing. Beneath her feet, the ground is a mess of star shaped confetti and silver glitter, not that the glitter is necessary with the natural sparkle of the snow accumulating on the ground.
Every twelve feet or so is a small fire where people gather and warm their hands. Katara is pulling her in the direction of one of them. She rustles around in her oversized backpack and pulls out a blanket. “Here, take this.” She wraps it around Azula and steals a look at the nearest food stall. Azula slips her a handful of cash. She gives Azula a brief hug and makes her way to the stall.
Azula sits there listening to the crackle and pop of the flames. She supposes that she is happy to be wrapped in the blanket. Her hands were beginning to grow red. Katara returns with two steaming cups of hot chocolate. “S’mors?” She offers, gesturing to the sticks.
“Yes, that sounds nice.”
As Azula sips her drink, Katara twirls two marshmallows over the flames.
.oOo.
Azula is rather quiet and Katara has trouble gauging her mood. She is fairly certain that the girl is content. At the very least, her teeth aren’t chattering anymore. Katara doesn’t think that she has ever seen someone get so cold so fast.
She watches the girl tinker with her telescope and then with her own. If only having one free hand is slowing her down, she sure doesn’t show it. Azula looks up from her work and Katara can finally gauge her emotions. She does look rather elated, more so than Katara has seen her look in a while.
They are only minutes away from Sozin’s comet passing. Katara looks down from the top of the hill; from top to bottom it is alit with hundreds of flickering candles. A sea of twinkling flames and thin wisps of smoke.
“We’re all set.” Azula notes.
Katara can’t imagine how thrilled the girl must be to finally see the spectacle that gave her family such an esteemed name.
“Sozin’s comet will be the first to fall and then the rest of them should appear.” Azula remarks with more enthusiasm than Katara has ever heard in her voice. Every now and again she leans into the telescope. Katara decides that it is best to make her way over to her own.
It happens quickly; a flash of brilliant orange in the sky as the comet flares into view. It is humbling to view such an old object. One that very well could have been around since the dawn of man. From such a distance it looks so small. Even still it is beautiful to behold with its fiery tail and the trail of dust and debris it leaves behind. Katara follows it with her telescope until it dips below the horizon and out of view.
It was such a fleeting moment, but then, the most glorious moments usually are. A second or two of splendor, a minute at most and then all is ordinary once more. She supposes that the universe knows that beauty is best appreciated when it is a rarity to be seen. Even so, the moment isn’t entirely over.
Just as Azula noted, the sky becomes crowded with many falling stars. A rain of them that leave silver-blue lines in their wake like contrails of an aeroplane.
“Wow this is…”
“Magnificent.” Azula finishes.
Katara thinks that there is no better word.
She feels arms wrap around her torso and a blanket falling over her shoulders. Azula isn’t quite tall enough to rest her had in the crook of Katara’s neck so she presses her mostly healed left cheek against her back.
Content to finally see Azula initiating physical contact for once, Katara doesn’t move. Not until it occurs to her that her girlfriend is slightly trembling again.
“Let me warm you up?” She offers.
Azula takes a step back. Katara takes her blanket and wraps it around herself. She then takes Azula into a hug and wraps the blanket around the both of them. Azula peers up at her, snow clings to her lashes. Katara never realized how small the girl was until then. She gives Azula a cheerful smile.
The comets still burst overhead, she can see them reflected in Azula’s eyes as the girl stares up at them. She doesn’t want to interrupt her viewing, but at the same time, she craves their first real kiss. So she cups Azula’s less delicate cheek and leans in.
Azula doesn’t flinch or draw back as Katara had anticipated. The girl closes her eyes and lets Katara guide her through what she assumes is the girl’s first real kiss. Katara can’t tell if Azula’s face is rosey with the cold or because she has never been kissed before.
No matter, she seems to be at peace.
She sniffles.
“Let’s look at the comets for a few more minutes and then get inside before you get yourself sick.” Katara suggests.
“I’m fine.” Azula insists, but she doesn’t protest when Katara begins to pack away their equipment and she doesn’t put up a fight when Katara begins tugging her towards the banquet hall.
Katara herself is relieved to be out of the cold, she was beginning to shiver herself. She watches Azula wander over to the chocolate fountain where she greets TyLee who has a rather absurd amount of chocolate covered fruit already gathered. Chan says something and the three of them laugh. She wishes that she could have heard it but she is thrilled to see Azula in such good spirits, especially after seeing her look so dismal and beat down.
“She seems happy.” Mai notes.
Katara nods.
“What did you do to  her?” Zuko flashes an amused grin.
“I gave her some hot chocolate and a blanket...and then a kiss.”
“Hey, thanks for doing this for her.” Zuko says. “She really needed a good night like this. Even if she doesn’t tell you, it means a lot to her.”
“I know.” Katara smiles. “I can tell.”

Push (Part 4)
Tumblr media
So basically, I’ve tried a million different way to get this to work, but it wont stop posting this huge space between the photo and the text for the fic every time I copy and paste, so just scroll down until you get to the text lol. Its there I promise. Hope every one enjoys! Leave some feedback if you can, it means the world!
Almost a month had gone by since my birthday, and now it was nearly Christmas time. I loved this city during the holidays. It was magic in every sense of the word. But the air was cold now, and the ground has been dusted with a few small layers of snow. The trees have traded in their colorful leaves for bare branches, and that part was always a little sad for me. Winter was funny that way, everything outside was losing layers while people were forced to add layer after to protect us from the elements.
The kids in my class were all extremely restless throughout the week, itching for Christmas break to finally arrive. Kindergartners were difficult enough as is to keep engaged, but throw in some sugar from all the treats they’d been consuming and it was a bit of chaos. But a chaos that I gladly welcomed in my life, I loved seeing them so happy. And truthfully, the promise of Christmas break excited me as well.
It was Saturday evening now, and I had been looking forward to this night for months. My erratic mother had gotten me tickets to see my favorite musical that was in town this weekend only. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going to see Wicked on the big stage. I had woken up far too early, but I couldn’t sleep any longer knowing that I was going to see something so amazing today. I had made sure to ask Michael weeks ago if he would go with me, and he was more than happy to accompany me. And things had been good between us.
Ever since Calum and I had talked the night of my birthday, things seemed to cool off. We still met at the coffee shop almost every morning to talk, but it was nothing more than that. I was learning more about each other in a complete platonic way. That’s something that friends did.
I wasn’t a huge fan of shopping, but I went out a few days ago and bought a dress to wear to the theater. It was a deep green color and made of the softest silky material. The thick straps lay loosely on my shoulders and the skirt was very short but I was confident in the way this dress made me feel.  So I slipped it on and took my time styling my dark hair in loose curls, pulling it up slightly and pinning it in place. I kept the make up that I applied as simple as possible, only putting on some light eyeshadow and liner and just a bit of rose colored lipstick. Once I was completely ready, I grabbed my long leopard print trench coat in hopes that it would keep me warm in this tiny little dress.
Soon enough, my heels were clicking up the driveway to Michael and Calum’s house. I hadn’t had a chance to talk to Michael much this week because I was so busy finishing things up at school, but I knew there was no way he could forget something like this when he knew how excited I was about it. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door, unable to wipe the huge smile off of my face as I waited for it to open.
When the door finally swung open, the person on the other side of it was barely recognizable.  They were dressed in some kind of costume with blue paint all over their face and arms.
“Michael?” I ask, my voice laced with confusion.
“Hey babe! What are you doing here?” He asked, stepping aside for me to come inside.
“We’re going to see Wicked, remember? Why are you dressed like that?” I was so confused, and I could feel my emotions start to bubble up in my throat.
“Oh shit, Iz. I forgot that was today. I’m literally heading out the door to ComiCon right now.” He motions towards a bag sitting next to the door.
“ComiCon? Mikey this is important to me. We planned this so long ago.” I sighed.
“I know, and I’m so sorry. I promise I’ll make it up to you. You look so pretty though.” He leans over and kisses the top of my head before he moves to pick up his bag by the door.
“I um…I guess I’ll go by myself.” I force a smile.
“You’re the best, Izzy. I’ll see you in a couple days okay?” Michael backs out the door, leaving me standing in his living room completely dumbfounded. He obviously had no idea how much this meant to me.
“That was awkward to witness.” I hear Calum’s voice say behind me, I almost jump out of skin. I turn towards his voice, even though I know there are tears pooling in my eyes about to betray me.
“Sorry you had to see it.” I sniffled, dabbing at my eye with the sleeve of my coat.
“What was all that about anyways?” He asks, sitting his book face down on the arm of the couch.
“It’s stupid. I should just go.” I dab my eye again.
“Try me, Bambs.” He stands up, and comes to stand in front of me. I can’t help but to start blubbering when I meet his eyes.
“My mom got me tickets to see Wicked.  And Michael promised weeks ago that he would go with me. Now I’m all dressed up so I can go to the theater alone.” I’m half laughing, half crying at this point.
“Let me see the dress.” He takes a step back so he can look at me.
“What?” My eyebrows scrunch.
“Let me see the dress you’re wearing, Bambi.” His eyes widen expectantly. I look at him a moment longer before reaching down with my somewhat shaky hands to undo the buttons of my coat. I hold onto each side and pull it open slightly.
“Is it…is it okay?” I ask. His eyes wonder up and down more than once and his teeth sink into his bottom lip before he speaks again.
“It’s perfect.” He sighs. “Which is why I’m going to go put on something much nicer than sweatpants, and take you to the theater to see your play.” He steps around me and walks towards his room.
“Calum…you don’t have to do that.” I walk after him, my heart pounding at the thought of spending an entire evening with Calum Hood. Just when I thought I’d gotten past this.
“I’d be a fool to let that dress go to waste.” He smirks. “Wait here, I’ll make it quick.” He walks into his room and I’m left to my own devices in the living room.
I pace for a few minutes until my feet start to ache from the damn shoes I have on. I convince myself to sit down and do some deep breathing. Calum was just being a good friend. This wasn’t a date. This was just two friends going to see Wicked together. And no sooner had I started to breathe normally again, Calum comes walking out of his bedroom. His hair was styled to the side instead of the natural curls I was so used to seeing. His long legs were covered in black dress pants that had obviously been tailor made to fit him like utter perfection. His black button up was covered by what appeared to be a black velvet jacket with dark red filigree designs adorning it. I had no idea that anyone could pull off something this like until this moment.
“Holy shit.” I accidentally whisper out loud. I gasp, covering my mouth with my hand immediately.
“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Calum smirks, shoving his hands into the front pockets of his pants as he approaches me.
“You look great.” I sigh.
“Are you ready to go?” He asks. “We can take my car.”
“Yeah, let’s go.” I smile gently and follow him out to the garage where his car is parked. Calum even goes so far as to open the passenger door for me to get in first. He watches me as I carefully slip into the seat and situate my legs. The feeling of his eyes on me makes every inch of my skin tingle.
The drive into the city consisted of soft music playing, and not a lot of talking. We didn’t need to say anything right now. And once we reached the theater, Calum insisted that I let him drop me off at the doors while he went to park the car. He came around and opened my door again to let me out of the car even when I insisted that I could handle it.
“I’ll be right back, Bambs.” He said as he jogged back around the car, pulling away to park the car. I walked up a few steps and waited in front of the revolving doors, until a soft voice interrupted my thinking.
“Your husband is quite lovely.” An older woman with silver hair and a black shawl wrapped around her said.
“Oh. He isn’t my husband.” I laughed nervously.
“Boyfriend?” She questioned.
“No. He’s just a friend.” I explain.
“Your friend is in love with you.” She states boldly. I almost choke.
“I’m sorry?” My voice cracks.
“I was standing here, watching him watch you. Friends don’t look at each other that way.” She waves her hand, so much confidence in her voice.
“Well, he’s most certainly just a friend.” I pull my coat around me a little tighter, turning when I feel a hand touch the back of my shoulder.
“What are you doing out here, Bambi? It’s freezing.” Calum says, motioning for me to follow him inside. And it’s that moment, when I’m not sure if it’s what the crazy old lady was saying  that was getting to me, or if I was just finally seeing things for what they were, but Calum was beautiful. More than just goofy little crush beautiful, he was full blown, heart pounding, stomach in knots beautiful. And I was crazy about him.
I shook it away, smiling and following him inside the theater. I had been here a few times to see other plays, and it never got old being inside. There were golden statues lining the walls and the marble staircases. Enormous pillars could be found here and there touching the high ceilings and leading up to all the intricate crystal chandeliers. The carpet looked like it had probably been here since the building was built but I was still the same lush maroon color it had always been. It was perfect.
“I’m just going to put my coat in the coat check area.” I told Calum, but he stopped me by gently grabbing my elbow when I went to turn away.
“Lemme help you.” He says lowly, using his pointer finger to make a circular motion, indicating he wanted me to turn around. I bit my lip, turning around and letting him help me slip my coat off my shoulders and arms. “I’ll be right back.” He says in my ear as he walks by.
When I’m able to focus again, I see the little old woman walking passed me and winking with a giant smile on her face. I couldn’t help but cover my mouth and laugh a little.
“What’s funny?” Calum says as he comes up behind me.
“Nothing at all.”I shake my head and walk towards the huge gold doors that lead into the theater.
The orchestra is playing quiet music as everyone enters the theater and finds their seats. Our seats were very close to the front and as we sat down, I couldn’t help but to smile as I stared at the giant red curtain currently covering the stage. There was something about the way it smelled inside the theater that made me incredibly happy. And as soon as the music started to play louder, and the lights turned down, everything felt right.
Wicked was one of those pieces of literature that played with all of my emotions. I was laughing one minute and crying the next. I felt Elphaba’s emotions throughout the entire thing. The acting was so spot on. They took the story from the book and turned it into a live action masterpiece. I don’t know how anything will ever top this. At one point during a particularly intense scene, I felt myself literally sitting on the edge of my seat, and when the climax happened I was gasping and grabbing for Calum’s hand, I held it tightly and didn’t even think about the fact that he wasn’t my boyfriend. He let me hold onto him, lacing his fingers through mine and rubbing my knuckles with his thumb to comfort me.
When the whole thing was over, and my mind stopped whirling, I still felt my hand in his. I knew I should pull it away, but I didn’t want to.
“That was so amazing.” I gushed, wiping at my cheeks to dry the happy tears.
“You’re beautiful, Izzy.” He sat forward in his seat in order to get closer to me. My heart clenched, that was the first time I’d ever heard him call me Izzy. It was always Bambi or Isabella.
“I um…thank you.” I breathed, moving my eyes down to our tangled hands.
“I think I watched you more than I watched the play. You were so invested, it was hard to look away.” He admits, still not taking his hand out of mine.
“I didn’t mean to distract you…I just love this play so much.” I shrug my shoulders and laugh lightly.
“I’ve got an entirely new appreciation for Wicked.” He smiles, the dimples next to his mouth and at the corners of his eyes showing. I had never wanted to kiss someone’s dimples before now.
“I feel like I’ve just gotten off a roller coaster. Thank you, for coming with me.” I squeeze his hand in appreciation.
“Are you hungry?” He asks, gently letting go of my hand. And as much as I wanted to grab it back, I let him stand up in front of me.
“What did you have in mind?” I stand up too, straightening out my dress.
“I know a few places around here. Let’s go.” He lets me out of the aisle to walk in front of him to the coat check out.
After we got my coat back, we walked to Calum’s car together, the smile on my face never faltering. The air was cold as it whipped my hair around my head but I didn’t mind it at all. Everything still felt so warm, and Calum stayed close to me the whole walk. His hand was on my lower back, gently guiding me and sharing his body heat. And as soon as we got to the car, he was quickly turning on the heated seats.
“Are you comfortable?” He asked.
“I’m perfect, to be honest.”  I smiled over at him and he did the same in return. I could tell he was thinking about saying more, but instead he backed out of the parking garage and took a left into the city traffic.
Calum sang along to the music quietly. I had to strain to hear him, but his voice was so pleasant. I didn’t want to cross any lines, so I pushed away the part of me that wanted to ask him to sing louder for me to hear better, and just enjoyed the small bit he was willing to give.
“How do you feel about breakfast?” He asked with a raise of his eyebrow.
“My favorite meal.” I say.
“Good. Come with me.” He parked his car quickly, jumping out to come around and open the door again.
“You don’t have to keep doing that, you know?” I tease him about the door opening.
“You’ll never open your own door if you’re with me Bambi.” He helps me out, his warm hand back in mine. I take a moment to look at him, not sure how he really meant “with him”.  He let go of my hand and walked up the sidewalk, stopping to wait for me.
“Coming.” I said quickly, making way to the door and inside the tiny little restaurant. It was warm and smelt heavily of pancake syrup and bacon. The booths were a red and white checkered pattern, the seats were torn in a few spots. I suddenly felt over dressed, but comfortable at the same time.
“Sit wherever you like, folks.” An older woman with her gray hair pulled back into a bun said. There were only maybe 10 tables inside, sort of like the Hatfield’s coffee shop.
I take off my coat before slipping into one of the booths, Calum doing the same on the other side. My  bare legs slightly stick to the booth, but I can’t bring myself to mind it much. I was far too happy with this night to let something so small damper my mood whatsoever.
“Drinks?” The woman says with her notepad and pen in hand.
“Coffee, please.” I say.
“Same for me.”Calum replies as well. She doesn’t  say anything else, just turns to go back behind the counter and retrieve some mugs.
“I still can’t believe this night really happened.” I gush as I scan my menu.
“And you’re happy?” He asks, I can feel his eyes watching me, so I look up to meet his pretty chocolate ones.
“I’m so happy, Cal.” I can’t help but to smile, breaking the eye contact before I find myself drowning in those eyes.
“Here ya go.” The waitress sits down the coffee mugs. “Food?” She asks next.
“Waffles and bacon for me, please.” I tell her, sliding my menu across the table towards her.
“That sounds perfect.” Calum tells her, handing over his plastic menu. The waitress sighs loudly, before she walks back to the kitchen area.
“How’s work for you?” I ask, my stomach is jumping nervously.
“Are we really going to make that type of small talk Bambs?” He chuckles lightly as he leans over the table a little.
“What else should we talk about?” I ask, trying to swallow the lump in the throat.
“Tell me why you’re still with Mike.” He says lowly. It sends sparks down my spine. I’m trapped in his gaze as he waits for an answer that I’m not sure how to give.
“I really like Michael. He’s good to me. And he’s really sweet.” I sigh, pulling my lips between my teeth.
“He didn’t go with you tonight.” He simply states.
“He just forgot we had plans. I didn’t remind about it this week.” It feels like I’m making excuses. And I know it’s because I don’t want to hurt Michael.
“Clifford didn’t give a flying fuck that you had plans tonight. Something better came up and he knew you wouldn’t fight him on it. You’re too nice, Isabella.” He sits back, his arms crossing over his broad chest.
“How do you know? He could have just simply forgot, Calum.” I can feel my eyebrows scrunch together in confusion and a bit of annoyance.
“Mike’s been my friend for a long time. You don’t think I know him?” He scoffs.
“Why do you care, Calum? What does it matter if he did stand me up?” My voice gets a little loud and I look around to make sure no one is listening.
“Because you deserve better than that. He should picked you up at your fucking door and drove you to that play. Because he fucking missed out, Isabella. He missed out seeing you smile all fucking night. You were so happy, and he missed it. Fuck him for that.” Calum’s breathing is a littler faster and his eyes wider as he finishes speaking. My mouth has practically dropped onto the table in shock.
“Calum…I…I don’t…” I start to say, just as the waitress plops our plates down in front of us.
“Eat up, Bambi.” Calum says, picking up his silverware and cutting into his food. I don’t push the issue, choosing to eat in silence the rest of the time we were there.
The walk back to the car was also very quiet, though he still stayed close to me until I was inside the car. But during the drive, he didn’t look over at me. I had too much to time to think.
I thought about what I had done wrong to make Michael forget about how important this night was to me. It was all I talked about for weeks. But maybe I deserved it. I deserved for him to hurt me when I was lusting after his best friend and roommate. It must have been the universe’s way of punishing me. But that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. I released a shaky breath, a couple of tears rolling down my cheeks as I did.
“Are you crying?” His voice is laced with concern.
“Possibly.” I sob.
“Shit, Izzy. I didn’t want to make you cry. Please don’t.” Calum pulls into the driveway of the house, parking it quickly and turning his body towards me.
“It’s just…I don’t understand why he couldn’t just come with me. Am I really not important enough for him to remember something like this?” I continued to cry and look down at my hands in my lap.
“Don’t say that shit. Mike’s just an idiot.” His hand comes over across the center console to gently wrap around one of mine.
“Maybe he just doesn’t fucking care. God maybe I’m the idiot.” I half laugh, half cry.
“No. You could never be.” He tries to comfort me, but I can feel my chest heaving harder.
“I’m so stu-“ But I can’t finish my sentence, because Calum leaning across the console pressing his lips against mine. My words are lost on his lips.
It felt too natural. Too perfect. I all too willingly molded my mouth with his, salty tears mixing in with the slow movements of our lips. The rough pads of his thumbs found their way to my tear stained cheeks, wiping away the wetness and pulling me closer to him. I allowed one of my hands to slide up the side of his neck and cup just below his jaw.
It was wrong. So why did it feel so right?
“Shit. Shit, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I shouldn’t of fucking done that.” He suddenly pulls away, opening his car door and stepping out. “Just…sorry.”
He closes his car door, leaving me alone with my thoughts and more confusion than ever.

Dancing On My Own
(Silvia...)
Yes, Mickey?
(How do you call your loverboy?)
Come 'ere loverboy!
(And if he doesn't answer?) Oh, loverboy!
(And if he STILL doesn't answer?) I simply say…
I was six years old the first time I draped my father’s after-shower wrap around my waist and lip-synched for my life. In the living room of my family’s single story, ranch style home in Walnut Creek, California, I performed to “Love is Strange.” The audience, comprised of my father, stepmother, and brother, laughed hysterically at my hijinks – oh how silly to see a boy wearing a skirt and singing the woman’s part of a song! At literally the same time RuPaul was gaining notoriety working the Atlanta Circuit Parties, I, at only six years old, was slaying the Bay Area suburb living room scene and living for it, Mama!
A year later, I performed live in an oversized sweatshirt dress and leg warmers on a leather ottoman stage. Another number from this genderfuck child prodigy that resonated with my home audience was my original drag parody based on a hit Crystal Gayle song “Donuts Make My Brown Eyes Blue.” Again, I was rewarded with laughter and applause. My family truly loved me, and I was beginning to know that I was born to be a performer.
Cut to a few years later: it was a dress-up day at school for Halloween and I had no idea what to be. My stepmother came in for the heroic rescue with a waist length straight brown wig, a bandanna, a peasant skirt, and a liberal application of lipstick and eyeshadow. I looked in the mirror and instantly fell in love with myself in what would now be considered a very problematic “fortune teller” Halloween look. I can’t even imagine the accent I spoke with. Suffice it to say, if repeated today that ensemble would most definitely result in a cancel culture call out.
Year by year, I learned that I was definitely different. As a “creative” child, I was prone to talking out of turn and disrupting the class. I did not know what “being gay” was, and I had certainly never seen an “out” gay person that I knew of. The closest thing to a drag queen I knew was my Grandmother, Beatrice. She was a Portuguese powerhouse that lived larger than life in an assortment of caftans, wigs, fur coats, costume jewels, fire red fingernails, and her ever-present cocktail of choice in her hand. I lovingly called her world’s cheapest screwdriver the “Popov and Donald” after its two main ingredients: Popov Vodka and Donald Duck orange juice. The constant, comforting refrain of clinking and tinkling ice surrounded her as she stirred it steadily with her nicotine stained index finger. With parents who blasted Elton John, Neil Diamond, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, and let’s not forget the beginning of this story, the soundtrack to “Dirty Dancing” when I was but six years old, it would seem as if the Universe was surrounding me with the perfect, magical, organic tools I would need to live my best faggotty life. Yet, In the summer of fourth grade, it all coalesced into understanding that I was truly different. Not just a creative type but there was something else, something more that separated me from the rest of the kids around me. The person who taught me this was Mr. M.
Mr. M. was my summer school theater teacher. When I saw him, I could just tell that he had the same thing that I had. That thing – the one that made me different – it was in him too. I immediately recognized it, and it was beautiful, and it made me feel so good that I wasn’t alone. It was the first time that I truly could see that there were actually adults like me too. Mr. M. had created a 4th through 6th grade summer-stock follies masterpiece that combined the story of Rapunzel with the music from Hair. It was everything my queer little heart desired rolled into a masterpiece for the stage, dusted in fairytale glitter, and laid out like a prize before me. I was cast in the dream role I could have never imagined I needed. My character was “Jacques,” Rapunzel’s best friend, confidant, and (though unspoken) very, very flamboyantly gay hairdresser. I was obviously the comedic relief – and I knew that at the time – but I didn’t care. I loved the role and despite having no idea what camp meant at the time (and certainly wouldn’t have cared if I did). I knew that this part had been created just for me, to let me shine, and I was not going to let Mr. M. down.
My stepmom stepped up like a hero again and made me look like everything that a 10-year-old, fabulous hairdresser should look like. Remember that waist length wig from my fortune teller look? Well she lovingly cut off a little 6 inch snip and braided it into the back of my big ass, blown out hair. I didn’t know or care that this was being “gay,” but I knew that I had never in my life felt more right.
In what will be a surprise to no one, I can humbly confirm that I stole the show. The audience loved me, seeing this fabulous child, living his truth, loving himself and not being afraid to shine in all his homo-glory in only the fourth grade? I was years ahead of the world and it felt amazing. In fact, before the show, we had joked in my house about the mannerisms of being gay, the flouncy walk, the limp wrists, the sassy lisp. I genuinely loved them all so much that after the performance, I began to adopt these affectations officially into my daily life, from lisping from the breakfast table: “Plleathe path the theareal” to my bedtime prayers, “in Jethus name we pray, amen”.
And that’s the moment. The moment where things changed.
“Sit down here next to me,” my father asked as he patted the bed politely. He called in my stepmother. “We should probably talk.”
After everyone assembled, my father asked thoughtfully “Do you know what homosexuality is?”
“No,” I responded quietly. I could tell immediately from his tone that 1) I was whatever that thing was and 2) that it was absolutely not okay.
“Well, it’s when two men do the things together that only a man and a woman are supposed to do together,” he lectured me. “And it is very wrong. You know how you played that part in the play, and how you have been walking and talking that way since? That’s not okay anymore. That’s how these homosexuals really act. It’s okay to act like them and laugh at them as a joke, like in the play. But it’s completely unacceptable to do those things in real life. In fact, men who do those things, well, the Bible says that they are going to hell. Do you want to go to hell?”
I did not want to go to hell. I slowly shook my head turning red, the furnace of shame stoked hot inside me.
“Good,” he said finally. “Then it’s time to stop acting like that. Back to being normal from now on.” He said goodnight, kissed me on the forehead, clicked off my bedroom light and shut the door behind him.
10…9…8… I counted down in my head. When I got to one, I thought Okay, he can’t be by the door anymore. That’s when the tears started flowing.
I still didn’t truly understand what being a homosexual was, but now I knew that I could never be one. Not only would it upset my father, but Jesus too? Well, that was just too much pressure. I was going into the fifth grade and the one thing I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt was that I did not, under any circumstances, want to go to hell.
My life was never the same from that moment on. As a child, I certainly never saw a dress or wig again. I spent the next twenty-five years pretending that I was not who I knew I was inside, trying my best to hide the traits as I got older but still knowing I had a funny voice and walk. Within a few years, I knew deep, deep inside that I was definitively the very thing I had been mandated not to be. I hid it further by marrying a woman and pretending even harder for many years that I was just a regular ol’ straight guy, just bein’ straight and actin’ straight and livin’ my best straight life. You know, lying.
I dated only women in my adolescence and finally, at age 18, I started dating my best friend. I guess we “fell in love,” though it was honestly more a relationship born of co-dependence, self-preservation, and convenience - and married at 21. For fourteen years I “played house.” To be honest, it wasn’t terrible. I had married my best friend and technically she knew I was gay as she had actually been the first and only person I had come out to up to that point. We pretended like that conversation had never happened. I thought I did an amazing job playing this role of dedicated straight husband contrary to many of the reviews on my role when I finally came out.
Everyday was a mental battle of epic proportions. Imagine a voice in your mind that has one job to do all day every day, and that job is to remind you that you are living a complete lie. I struggled with mental health issues, doing everything I could to manifest destructive patterns and catastrophes so that I could distract myself from my terrifying inner demons. As each year passed, the voice got louder and more distracting. But now I was in too deep. What would even be the value in listening to the voice and taking action? Destroying my marriage, my life and for what? I didn’t even know if what was on the other side would be better. At least I was safe in my cocoon as long as I played the part.
Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. I wasn’t prepared to come out, but I also knew I couldn’t keep ignoring the voice the way I had been. I just needed something to quiet the voice. At the same time, I was also looking for a new fitness regime to help get my weight under control. When I drove by Padme Yoga in Sacramento, CA on a drizzly October afternoon, it seemed like kismet. Yoga could help me with my fitness, but I had also heard lots of friends talk about how much it helped them quiet their minds. Perfect! I signed up for my first yoga class, and though I was scared shitless, I actually showed up. At the end of the class, the instructor came up to me and asked me if I enjoyed the class, which I told her I did. Then she said “Come back tomorrow, this practice will change your life.” So I did. And the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that.
The weight came off of my waist and my thighs, but there was a different kind of weight coming off of my shoulders as well. I felt happier and more joyful. People seemed to want to be around me more and I felt more authentic. I just kept showing up and my teacher from that first class was right - my life was changing. Strangely enough, the voice about my hidden sexuality was a bit quieter but I had new voices as well - ones telling me that I was perfect the way I was in that moment and that in or out of the closet, I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I began to feel this love for myself I had not felt in a very long time; not because I was skinny or more energetic, but because I was doing exactly what I needed for myself.
One Friday evening in May 2014, as I laid in pigeon pose I began to sob. People say they “ugly cry,” well I beautifully cried as years of self hate, sadness, anger, frustration, lies, manipulation, and abuse just flowed from my eyes and onto my mat. 75 minutes later, I knew I was ready. I went home, and for the first time, I let my inner knowing speak for me. I came out, for good.
The journey since has not been easy, but it has been a necessary one and I have learned so much. The best part is, I have never once been alone since. Remember that little boy, the one who went to bed that night crying, scared, and afraid that he would never be the person he was meant to be? Well amazingly enough, he woke up the moment I stepped off my yoga mat that evening. He has been by my side ever since. In fact, he is sitting right here next to me as I write this, wearing his favorite gown, loving himself, feeling beautiful and accepted. He calmly, lovingly reminds me that neither of us needs ever feel alone again.

On New Year’s Day this year I was putting away all my makeup from the night before (big night for makeup) and I decided that I would put all the makeup I use in a bag until the bag fills up, to see what I actually use. Well, color cosmetics, by which I mean non-base products, which is not what “color cosmetics” means but I’m my own boss. And this isn’t really everything, just stuff I wore out or to see people--which, to be fair, I don’t like to wear makeup unless I’m gonna be seen, and I don’t photograph my face anymore, so. Not bad for a shut-in though! I am ready to put my things back in order and reflect! Ft. night photos.
What’s shown above is just the stuff I reached back into the bag for over and over again (cheating? I am my own boss, remember), and stuff that featured in some of my best or most memorable looks this year. The rest will follow.
As you can see I leaned into pantone candid coral, lol, but coral is, always, my primary color for everything on my face. I had really imagined to use coral with a lot of grey lavenders, and I’m pleased to say I returned to that over and over again and came into loving it. It’s the classic for me. I had also planned to do a lot of coral + gold and coral + periwinkle but I rarely did!
COMMENTARY AFTER THE CUT even though I think you should be forced to read it
The original UD Naked palette @laskyjedneplavovlasky handed me down to keep me from buying it when it got discontinued just because it is now Retro and she knew I’d regret it. I like it! I’m gladder I didn’t spend money on it! The thing about me is that I don’t know how to wear or use “neutrals,” so I am learning and growing more with this palette than anything else I have. I expect we’ll see some interesting developments over the next few weeks. As for shimmery neutrals, I still think UD has the best, and I’ve long been a Sin fan. I use this Sin--I have it in like three other palettes--wet. My favorite thing to do with it is to wet a brush--weirdly I love the one that came with this thing--and use it to lay sin vertically down the center of my lid going over the crease, so it looks like actual silk.
NYX Ultimate Mult-Finish palette in Sugar High. These palettes are underwhelming for the price (didn’t I gift you a different colorway of this @madmoths? do you agree that it’s finnicky?) but the shades here are too ideal and I use some combination of them constantly. If I were some “one palette only” rich bitch I’d get whatever the Nars equivalent of this is and just be like that forever.
Some other coral bits: Nars Orgasm blush, Benefit ultra plush lip gloss in Coralista (I still love these to death! you can’t get them!), Stila watercolor blush in Water Lily (another great thing you can’t get anymore but if you covet it it’s just a knockoff of many Korean products). That blush is Model Co’s blush cheek powder in Peach Bellini, it only recently went back into circulation because I had to repress it after breaking it four the literal third time but I could not find my alcohol spray bottle for umm two months. This is one of the nicest blushes I own just in terms of beauty and application, I need to see how long it lasts to be able to determine whether it’s top five. Happy to see you can still buy it.
That cream palette is an ancient Stila lip and cheek palette that I am determined to use “up” this year. Still smells and works great. I’ve been using those corals, obviously, but I’m reminded now how gorgeous that plum is. I didn’t really lean heavily into my black cherry victorian winter look, like I normally do, so maybe for spring? I’m thinking the next wave is black cherry + dark green for spring. Maybe with... mustard? Will report back.
That Colourpop eyeshadow is Erotic, one of the first products I ever got from them, miraculously still functioning although I can tell it’s kind of on its last legs. I need to use it up, I mean, I’m going to use it up, because it’s one of my favorite eyeshadows ever. I am hunting a perfect dupe! That shade is precisely the coral that I mean when I talk about coral.
Colourpop’s Chasing Rainbows palette. I never would have picked this out for myself but Lucas got sucked into a display at Ulta at Christmas and thought this was very cool, and, he was right? It’s so nice and I really recommend it. But I’m sure you can tell what I’ve been using most... I think if those teals had been something else (a baby blue?) and there was one more slightly shifty shimmer in a translucent base, this would be a basically perfect palette.
That Huda sapphire palette is....we’re trying to work it out. I am trying to like it at all. (I actually love the silver glitter that temptalia gave an F, lol. She rates on claims but if you use it with only your fingers and a tacky tacky base it looks very neat on the lid.)
I’ve had a rocky relationship with that MUFE palette (for a minute I thought it was the only thing temptalia had ever steered me wrong on!) but I’ve really come around on it. I use that suite of purples all the time and they are very luxe and dreamy on me, even if I wanted them to be opaque “colors” when I got them. I also use that blush in the center as a “transition shade” to blend out the edges of anything else I do with this palette.
I forgot to open that little TheBalm single, it’s a promotional single (lol!) from their Nude Dude palette. I can’t imagine spending money on the fucking TheBalm schitck, oh my god. This thing is a beauty though, a really nice purpley nude that was almost made just for me. I just cannot, no matter what I do, work any kind of “nude” into my every day life. I can’t. I want to pan this but..  I will not.
The tiny tube is a Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Get Ready. This was some kind of free birthday gift years ago? I never wore it because it is marginally “nude” so I did not learn until after they discontinued it that it is the best! I would buy a full size of this! (Well, I like the shade well enough--it’s really more of a medium pink than a nude--but I’d likely look for something bolder if I did.) It feels and smells almost exactly like the nicest Tom Ford lipsticks. I will have to try their new lipstick line--but their shit is all nude now! They have such nice formulas of dumb fucking nude everything!!
Colourpop Flexitarian highlighter is my favorite highlighter. The hurus are not lying! Below that is Anastasia’s Aurora palette--for ages I used the green all the time, but I’ve been using the peach-pinks and purples a lot more, as you could guess. I’m really aching for a straightforward pink highlighter. Then we have THE MAYBELLINE PUMA HIGHLIGHTER. What is it actually called? Chrome Highlight in Knockout. I cannot remember anything before this highlight. See, I know a lot of people like this line, but I had never been driven to try them, and I only got this because I got sucked into the whole thing, and I am strongly undisappointed. It’s not exactly unique but unique to my collection, and is the only kind of gold like that I have, and it has a slight rosy-purple base that is perfect for me and for the coral-lavender thing I’ve been doing.
In the lower right corner is a little bit of a pink look--nothing new for me, I use that hot pink NYX Primal pigment all the time and have for years. It’s not the very best on the market but it’s buildable and the absolute perfect pink, so I’d say it’s probably the best for the price. The lip products are newer to me, a NYX “Slide On Glide On” lip pencil in Disco Rage (!) that Lucas got me for Christmas, which is great? Turns out the $10 lipliner is nicer than the $3 lipliner? Hate that! And a lipstick from a recent limited edition Revlon glitter collection in SE purple tubes--I had a very Collector moment about these and had to have one. This one 100 Watts Pink. I really kind of want more but I have restraint (a glittery pink is practical and everyday wearable!), that shit is getting expensive... HOWEVER! This reminds me that I fell back in love with some other Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks, particularly FIRE AND ICE (!), thanks to temptalia revisiting them this year. Where did I put that?...
The colourpop super shock shadow on the bottom is Daddy. One of my best looks this month was, well, I had planned something entirely different but I put on youtube while I was getting dressed and Chloe Morello posted this so I had to reroute. She looks unbelievable, it’s a great look. This took a lot of building but it looked so fucking good, I wore it with the CP blue mascara (below), cobalt + bright lavender is a very good combination.
There are some more greige lavenders down there, Revlon’s Illuminance cream shadow palette in Wild Orchids--this maybe doesn’t wear that long but as an...item? concept? it’s one of my favorites ever. That glitter tube is a J.Cat holographic 3D eye topper thing, the shade is Unicorn Hype. I have two of these and would buy more. This was Tati’s influence! I love this brand and like this product, still wanna get the mousse ones but they were always sold out when she was hyping them last year. This one is, however, starting to get a slightly concerning chemical smell that will probably not keep me from putting it on my eyelids.
Aaaand... imho the product of the year is this CP mascaras. I got the red and the blue. IIRC the red is a little finnicky and the blue wears very nicely but they are by far the most vibrant and pigmented and beautiful colored mascaras I’ve ever used and I could not recommend them more highly. I especially adore the blue for all the time wear but I do think other brands have come out with great blue mascars. But what are you gonna do.... pick up some other red mascara? You’re not! (Well, I’m hoping the impact of these trickles down!!) You don’t need a white base under these at all, and they are definitely more of a volumizing and clumping formula vs. lengthening.

Riverdale, “Chapter Forty-Seven: Bizarrodale”
Jughead eats: QUICK SHOT OF BRUNCH
the print on Josie’s bomber jacket? confounding
“If there’s no wedding reception, it means the Gargoyle King has won.”
Ms. McCoy in bright blue? confounding
have Moose’s eyebrows gotten thicker? he...he fine
Cheryl’s sheaths: like a true gay icon, Cheryl wears both a satiny demi-cup bustier and a flannel in bed with Toni, who’s rocking a sort of cottony Aerie bralette
Tumblr media
Hermione’s earrings look like divining rods, which makes sense
“dangerously unhinged,” in this day and age? UNHINGED?
Cheryl is “legacy” in Riverdale’s version of Smith College
Cheryl’s pins: in her droopy 1920’s lady-reporter tie, Cheryl has a pin that is probably a bee but is POSSIBLY a giant frightening moth like in the Silence of the Lambs poster
Moose’s hair is longer or something and he’s like? I don’t know but I’m a gay boy all of a sudden, like let me at All That
I like how he pauses but goes in for more kisses after Kevin tells him he wants to ask him something
he’s like…..so tall….and he has this a little mole on his cheek….
(RIP Midge)
I’m writing a scene where it’s gay.: you look me in my pale astigmatic eyes and tell me the little snitch canary “told you they were in here sir” smug Malfoy stool pigeon ISN’T a pillow queen and I’ll give you this money RIGHT NOW. THAT thin-lipped smirk? with THAT cleft chin? he’s a gay, your honor
Sexy, aesthetic Southside: oh fuck!!!! Sweet Pea has a VERY vulnerable, soft-masculinity speech about his heartspace and emotional boundaries and he’s so fluffy-haired and trying to be gentle with himself……….SWEET PEA……..
Best costume bit: don’t miss the two-second shot of a Prostitute in a turquoise pencil skirt and red velvet blazer and pearls AND GLASSES leading a man by the tie down the Maple Club hallway
“Damn good coffee”: also this jazz music and Cheryl’s short pantsuit
Tumblr media
WHERE CAN I GET CHERYL’S MINI BACKPACK
The Blossom spawn: I know Penelope Blossom is not out here suggesting there are no lesbians in what I assume is a women’s college. I remember when I got into My Women’s College one of the nuns at my church was like, Ha ha! Don’t let the drug-dealing lesbians get you! and I was like, How do you already know the plot of Riverdale season 3? but then I was also like, Ma’am why did you join this monastery?
Fifth period is AP English: “THIS IS THE PRICE OF SALT.”
Lawyer McCoy is right, Ex-Sheriff Keller IS a snack and this bitch’s blood sugar is low
I love Sierra and Whatsit playing Lawyers in bed because it happens to be my thing too and I want to be there with them
Certified pedigree: his name’s Tom right? he’s SO HANDSOME. everyone is so handsome right now!!!!!!! (I’m ovulating)
this is the same fancy hotel room Jughead and Betty stayed in when he sort of proposed to her? this is just the upscale version of the sex bunker
Kevin eats when he’s stressed, as you will recall from the drive-in S1 episode
“an epaulette to cry on”
Cheryl’s hair: and Cheryl’s sleeves!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Sixth period is Intro to Film: “looking like a community theater production of The Talented Mr. Ripley” is the SECOND time handsome bicurious Tom Ripley has been name-dropped (also the drive-in S1 episode)
“I can’t go back to Fox Forest” is like the most tragic thing. HE CAN’T GO CRUISING AGAIN
“Oh, sullen, tenderhearted Kevin.”
Cheryl’s a chaos angel from hell: “RAPTUROUS”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like that Cheryl continues to use words like “whilst” and “amongst”
is Moose wearing a denim Henley? MOOSE?
the closed captioning renders it “O shutterbug of my dreams.” “O,” LIKE CHERYL IS SHAKESPEARE
I absolutely buy that Cheryl would ask if this was their first fight mid-fight
only Toni among us could wear that many necklaces at once
I did get a little confused when Toni confronts Cheryl in the bathroom, like at first it was about how you shouldn’t out people but then it was about her not being in the Serpents? let’s focus, ladies
The 2001 Josie and the Pussycats movie was a masterpiece: Josie’s commitment to keeping her eyeshadow coordinated with her jackets over her commitment to boys is aspirational
Every triangle has three corners, every triangle has three sides: I LOVE ARCHIE’S SIDE-EYE, LIKE………“SWEET PEA?”
Reggie on kneecapping: “Does that really happen?”
Reggie’s voice cracks me up. he’s just a big gorgeous squeezable side hustle dummy bro, so down for the ride, remember when he slugged Jughead? neither does he
REGGIE HONESTLY HONEST-TO-GOD IS JUST LIKE….RONNIE YO YOU NEED SOME MONEY?
“You can be my Baby Driver” uuuuuugggghghhhhhkkhhhhhhhhh REggggeieiee
“JUST PLEASE DON’T SCRATCH MY CAR” has more sexual energy than I think Archie has ever manufactured with anyone EXCEPT BETTY when they kissed that one time you know?????
why do you think Reggie is such a good doofus boyfriend while Archie was such a bad doofus boyfriend? is it because Archie tried to think for himself? or has Reggie just not been given the chance to fuck something up yet
I like Penelope bringing up Sierra and Tom getting married not to shade them but to just be like, They should be happy if they want. I was like, Damn, Penelope! You’re right!

Summer + Blair = Veronica: Veronica would wear those shoes to baby drive
SOMEONE TAKE ME ON A “MAD SAPPHIC CAPER”
Archie > Dawson: Archie is a hot-or-cold boyfriend but he is an EXCELLENT beard!!!! GOOD, ARCHIE
I’ve seen Brick like thirty times: Reggie takes the same positive attitude towards getting shot and surviving that I hope I would have, which is “at least I can say I got shot”
Moose is like, out and THEREFORE dtf, as if they couldn’t have secretly been having sex this whole time
Toni conceded to Highsmith’s business formal dress code insofar as she wears a black vest over a plaid tie and that’s it
“WHOEVER YOU ARE, PLEASE BE CHILL.”
Veronica’s blue plaid coat SHOCKS me
Veronica was rich: Gladys admires Veronica and Reggie’s gumption showing up with only half the money
is it a coat or is it a miniskirt with a matching jacket?????
Tumblr media
God bless jingle-jangle Moose: Moose is so excited that he just absolutely tells Cheryl he’s finally going to have sex. I know the show needs him to say it so Cheryl can tell him to BYOS, but it’s still cute of him, himself. is Moose kind of precious?
remember when Moose got gunned down in that car? Christ
HE BROUGHT A LITTLE RED CANDLE!!!!!
I love when people take off their whole belt, as if you can’t just undo it and still take your jeans off
dope deer skull! plus: everyone’s fucking
Mädchen Amick, MÄDCHEN AMICK: I’ve lost track a little bit of whether or not Alice KNOWS Betty and Jughead are literally/colloquially sleeping together in Betty’s bedroom, or are they taking advantage of her being gone?
The female gaze: Reggie’s chest is the new Archie’s chest
“NIGHT HAG”
“KEEP YOUR BOW CLOSE.”
Moose is MASSIVE like, do you see those arms?
Tumblr media
Fwoopy hair is the best hair: HIS BEAUTIFUL FLIPPY HAIR ON THE PILLOW
Dilton Doiley Ethel Muggs The Gargoyle Children: the RROTC guy is Chris Cooper in American Beauty???
Gay.: Sierra was halfway right about “the jealousy thing”
even FP, conducting his interview in his flannel, is like, bruh
These students are legally children: his “Man, the Sisters did a number on you” feels like Riverdale’s version of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s “The Catholics really fucked you up”
Jughead doubts it: Jughead makes a good point. is there one costumes everyone keeps using or is it that easy to DIY your own Gargoyle King?
“UR-KING,” JUGHEAD, PLEASE
oh I can see Jughead about to be disillusioned by his family coming a mile away
Archie’s soft soft sweater? confounding
at least Moose isn’t moving to Toledo, am I right
CHERYL’S SLEEVES?????????
What damn high school in America: Cheryl’s girl gang is 100% Teddy girls and I love them
THE WHITE STRIPE ON REGGIE’S SWEATER and the little black birds on Veronica’s shirt!
Gladys & JB are already a more powerful duo than FP & Jughead could ever hope to be
ARCHIE ASKS HER IF HE COULD KISS HER. THAT’S VERY SEXY OF YOU, ARCHIE. GOOD, ARCHIE

Summer Snow Day (Summer Fic Comp 18)
Summary: It’s unbearably hot out, but when Talyn suggests Thomas think cold thoughts- it begins to snow in the Mind Space, much to the confusion of the sides.
Trigger Warnings: Mild swearing
Word Count: 2,889
Ballot
It was unbearably hot. Not just out in the world, where Thomas was trying to stay cool with Joan and Talyn after the AC broke, but inside the mind space as well.
Patton, who was usually sprawled across someone’s lap, was laying across one of the armrests of the couch instead. Virgil had stripped off his hoodie, now ony in a purple tank-top as he tried to fan his face off so his eyeshadow didn’t smear. Logan had given up trying to read his book and was now using it as a fan, and Roman was just sprawled across the floor in pure agony.
“This is horrible. I think Thomas’s brain is getting literally fried,” Roman groaned. Logan didn’t even pause his fanning as he replied.
“It is not quite that hot, Roman.” He didn’t elaborate like he usually would. Instead, he pulled the last ice cube from his glass and donated it to the ‘cool off my boyfriend’ cause, swiping it across Patton’s forehead. Patton let out a happy, almost purring, sound.
“You’re lucky I love you,” Logan grumbled, though he didn’t seem as annoyed as he pretended to be, moving the tiny remaining sliver of ice across Patton’s cheeks, as they were flushed from the heat.
“Rude, I could’ve eaten that ice,” Virgil said, not even looking up from his phone. Logan looked mildly horrified.
“That is extremely bad for your teeth.”
“Crunch crunch, bitch.”
Roman squeezed his eyes shut, blocking out the bickering between Virgil and Logan as he focused on what Thomas was doing. The sides all had memories of doing things with Thomas, even if they weren’t focused on him at the time, but if they wanted they could tune in. Thomas blinked, and suddenly Roman could see from his eyes, like an extra viewer.
“I think my brain is getting literally fried,” Thomas groaned. Joan wiped sweat off their brow.
“I don’t know if that’s even possible, Thomas. If it is, though, I think it would have to be a little hotter,” they paused, thinking. “Never mind. I agree with you, my brain is getting cooked. You think they’ll finish fixing the AC soon?” Talyn took a drink of their water, setting the glass back down on the table.
“Just try and think cool thoughts,” they suggested, “that’s what I’m trying to do. Yeah, it isn’t the best method, but it can’t really hurt to try it.” Thomas blinked again, and Roman tuned back into the mind space, as he could distantly hear Patton calling his name.
“Wha- sorry, I was listening to Joan and Talyn,” Roman said, sitting up. Patton shrugged, having migrated from the couch arm to the floor near Roman.
“I was just asking if you wanted anything to drink? Water? Lemonade? Maybe a snack like-”
“Snow?” Roman blinked at the ceiling.
“Uh, I don’t think we have anything to make snow cones with, but I can loo-”
“No. Look,” Roman pointed as a single white flake tumbled from the ceiling and landed on Patton’s nose. Virgil and Logan stopped their argument-turned-discussion to stare. More flakes began to fall, landing in the fours’ hair, on the carpet, across the couch.
“What the fuck?” Virgil asked. Patton appeared too stunned to even correct Virgil on his vulgarity.
“This…this doesn’t make any sense,” Logan said, blinking a couple of times. He took his glasses off, summoning a cleaning cloth to wipe the melting flakes off the lenses. Virgil leaned over and grabbed his hoodie, slipping it back on.
“Talyn told Thomas to think cold thoughts, I wonder if that’s what happened,” Roman said. The other three blinked a couple times, reviewing Thomas’s memories from the past ten minutes.
“Ah, that would probably explain this occurrence,” Logan said. He looked over to where Patton was sitting, wrapping his arms around himself and shivering. He tried and failed not to appear alarmed as he hurried over to him.
“Patton, are you alright?”
“Y-yeah I’m just more se-sensitive to temperature change then you guys r-remember,” he said through a chattering grin. Logan frowned and summoned a jacket from his room slipping it over Patton’s shoulders.
“Apologies, Patton, I would find something warmer, but I do not have a thicker coat since we live in Florida, and snow is rare enough to not require one.” Patton smiled sweetly, putting a hand on Logan’s cheek.
“It’s fine, Lo, I’m feelin’ warmer already!” Roman looked over at Virgil.
“I’m cold too,” he said, causing Virgil to raise an eyebrow.
“Fuck, I don’t control the snow coming from the ceiling, Roman.” Logan sighed loudly and pulled a blanket from off the couch.
“Honestly, do I have to do everything around here?” He tossed the blanket over Roman’s head. Roman grumbled, pulling it off his head and around his shoulders.
“Here, I have a better idea,” Roman flicked his hand through the air, creating a puffy white coat. Another few flicks, and three other coats joined it. He handed Patton the blue one, and he happily tugged it on over Logan’s jacket and zipped it up to his throat. Virgil peered over curiously from the chair he was sitting on, and Roman chucked the purple coat straight at his face, causing him to squawk. Logan picked up the remaining black coat and pulled it on.
“This is much better, thank you Roman,” Roman preened at the praise, creating a red scarf and wrapping it around his neck.
“Well, I’d never turn down the chance to dress people up, especially you, Logan. Your taste is very…particular,” he wrinkled his nose and gave Logan a navy blue hat. He grumbled, but otherwise didn’t complain. A beanie for Virgil, a pair of earmuffs for Patton, and the four were all prepared to deal with the sudden snow, and the cold that came with it.
Flakes were coming down, and snow was piling up, much faster than what was probably possible in real life. Patton, now properly decked out in warmth, immediately fell backwards into the snow (much to the worry of Virgil- what if he hit his head?) so he could make a snow angel. He giggled, messing the whole thing up as he got up.
“I don’t think we’ve ever gotten enough snow to do this kinda thing before!” Patton said as Logan started to brush the excess snow off his back.
“Indeed,” Logan remarked, “Though, I wonder when this snow will cease. As much as I appreciate it in comparison to the previous heat, it certainly won’t be fun to clean up later.” Roman rolled his eyes and crouched down, rolling a snowball.
“Relax, nerd. We’ll worry about that when we get to it. For now, let’s make a snowman or five!” Patton cheered and hurried to join him. Roman made himself some gloves and Patton a pair of mittens, as he noted their fingers turning red and stinging from the snow. He offered a pair to Virgil, who scowled and snatched them away quickly before he shoved his hands deeper in his pockets, then to Logan, who took the gloves without hesitation.
Soon, Patton and Roman had finished a snow-Thomas. He was glorious, complete with a carrot nose Patton had stolen from the fridge, and a replica of Thomas’s favorite shirt provided by Roman.
“My son,” Patton said, curling his arms around it. Logan made a noise in the back of his throat that sounded like he was attempting to hide his distress.
“Patton, is it really a wise idea to hug a snow representation of Thomas when you yourself mentioned your sensitivities to extreme temperature change?” Patton refused to let go, despite his dripping nose.
“He’s my son, Logan.”
“It’s a snowman!”
“You just don’t understand love!”
“WE ARE DATING, PATTON!”’
The two continued their half-hearted bickering as Roman decided to start up on a snow-Roman. Obviously, the perfect second choice, as Roman was wonderful to look upon and he was also willing to conjure a sash to make the snowman more authentic. He stopped rolling the body and leaned down to gather snow to make the head when he felt something whiz by his head, just grazing his scarf, before Patton yelped in surprise.
“Shit, sorry, Patton!” Virgil called, “I was aiming for Roman.” Roman immediately bolted up from where he was at that.
“Excuse you, Dark Ice, you were aiming for whom?” Roman asked, just in time for a snowball to deck him square in the jaw. He put his hand to the spot, expression stormy.
“Patton.”
“Yes, Ro?” Roman held out his hand to the moral side, a dark smirk sliding onto his face.
“Can you help me?”
“Help you with what?” Logan asked. Patton took Roman’s hand, and their eyes flashed briefly. A silent message between the two.
Patton crouched down, rolling a snowball in his hands. Logan assumed he was starting another snowman, and leaned closer, trying to decipher the gleam in his eyes.
Whap!
Logan blinked slowly, looking down to see where a snowball had splattered against his chest.
“Oh? Is that how we’re playing?” Logan asked. He looked up at Roman and Patton once more.
“Very well, prepare to face crushing defeat. Virgil!” Virgil jumped, apparently still surprised with Patton’s turn to the dark side, “Possible alliance?”
“Hell yeah,” Virgil decided, rolling another snowball and throwing it at Roman. He was ready this time, however, and twirled out of the way, slicing it in half with his katana for good measure.
“Boo, weapons are cheating!” Virgil called, diving behind the couch as Patton made his attack.
“Since when? There are no rules!” Roman called, aiming for Logan. Logan twisted out of the way, throwing a snowball at Roman, who dodged, but hadn’t seen the second one Logan had pre-prepared. It hit him in the side.
“AH! I AM WOUNDED,” Roman dramatically fell into Patton’s arms, who laughed. Virgil took the opportunity to throw before ducking behind the couch again, not even bothering to see if he hit. Based on Patton’s shocked gasp, he assumed he did.
Logan dove in next to him, just barely avoiding another attack that skimmed his pant leg. He risked a look over the top, only to get yanked back down by his tie as two snowballs spun past where his head had been.
“Thank you,” Logan told Virgil, adjusting his tie. Virgil nodded, expression turning to steel.
“I need to get out there,” Logan gaped at him.
“Virgil, that’s suicide!” he hissed. Virgil shrugged.
“If we stay here, we’re sitting ducks. I’ll go right, you go left. Ready…”
Patton blinked at Roman, looking at the small pile of snowballs they had amassed waiting for the pair to exit their mini safe haven. He began to pull on his soaked mittens.
“You think we scared them?” Patton asked, biting the inside of his cheek. Roman held up a hand, and the two went silent.
“NOW!” came Virgil’s voice. He and Logan burst out, racing in different directions. Logan went for the kitchen, Virgil went for the stairs. Roman and Patton looked at one another, before Patton grabbed a few snowballs and rushed after Logan, leaving Roman to storm upstairs.
Logan honestly did not plan this well. Once he vaulted over the counter, he was pretty much cornered in the kitchen. He desperately looked for an escape as Patton’s shadow was cast across his face. He met Logan’s gaze with a smirk, tossing a snowball up and catching it. Logan had no other choice. He would have to beg.
“P-Patton, we can work this out!” Logan said trying to inch his way back to the counter. Perhaps he could make the jump again. Patton shook his head getting closer.
“Too late, Loganberry. This is war, and I’m gonna be on the side that wins.” Curse Patton’s surprising competitiveness. Logan always forgot how powerful it was, no matter how many times he watched Patton get way too invested in Monopoly.
Patton still hadn’t thrown any attacks, he was simply looking at Logan, as if trying to figure out how Logan planned to get himself out of this. Logan only had one idea left. He grabbed Patton by the front of his coat and planted a firm kiss against his lips.
Patton melted against him, and dropped the snow in order to curl his arms around Logan’s neck. Logan turned them around so Patton had his back to the wall and pulled away slowly.
“Logan?”
“I love you,” Logan said, before he yanked away from Patton and bolted. Patton shrieked behind him, and Logan didn’t even make it to the stairs before Patton grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back. Logan tried to struggle, but somehow Patton managed to topple him and pin him to the floor.
“You’re gonna regret that, Logan Logic Sanders,” Patton hissed, though there was an obvious hint of amusement in his gaze as he grabbed a handful of snow. Logan’s eyes went wide.
“Wait! No! Patton, don-” Patton shoveled the snow down the front of Logan’s coat.
Virgil could hear Logan’s scream from where he was hiding inside Roman’s closet. He didn’t know why he picked this particular location. It was probably because it smelled nice- but Virgil liked to think he wasn’t that far gone on Roman just yet. He could hear Roman running around, slamming open doors searching for him. What way to go.
The slamming got closer, as in, Virgil was pretty sure Roman just broke his own wall with his bedroom door (the muffled swearing really added to that theory).  Loud boots crunched across the snow that apparently affected their rooms as well as the main living space.
“Where are you, Virgil?” Roman called. Virgil shrunk further into the corner, freezing when light filled the closet.
“Come on out, Darkest Mind. I’m pretty sure Logan’s already surrendered, so it’s just you left. Virgil didn’t dare breathe. Maybe Roman didn’t see him. Maybe-
A snowball missed his head by mere inches, causing Virgil to flinch.
“Gotcha!” Roman crowed, putting his hands on his hips. Virgil saw the opportunity and took it- fight or flight, bitches. He dove between Roman’s legs and sprinted out of the room.
He thundered his way down the stairs, hearing Roman hot on his heels. He was so desperate to get away, in fact, that he didn’t see Logan and Patton until he tripped right over them. The couple squawked in surprise.
Roman tumbled after him, causing the four to land in some weird messy pile at the base of the stairs. Patton and Roman managed to look at each other before they started pelting Virgil with snowballs.
“OKAY! Okay, you two win!” Virgil put his arms up. Patton squealed and clapped, high fiving Roman best he could while they were all still tangled on the floor. Logan grumbled something about his boyfriend being evil.
“Hey guuuuuys, Deceit, like wanted me to see why the temp dropped so I-” Remy blinked from the top of the stairs, not quite sure what to make of what he was seeing at the bottom.
“So, like, do I want to know what just happened?” Remy asked, taking a sip of his coffee. The four all looked at each other and simultaneously shrugged.
“Yeah, whatever, I’m gonna just get more blankets for the snake dude then,” Remy walked off and the four began to laugh. Roman helped Virgil up, lightly kissing the top of his hand.
“Apologies for chasing you around,” Roman winked. Virgil turned bright red under his white foundation. Logan raised an eyebrow at Patton.
“Do I get an apology?” he asked. Patton thought for a moment, before leaning in and leaving a peck on his cheek.
“How’s that?” he asked with a grin. Logan’s cheeks were pink from more than just the cold.
“Adequate I suppose…” he grumbled. Patton went to the kitchen to make hot cocoa while the other three gathered on the couch. By the time they were all sipping their drinks, and playing a movie, the snow had begun to melt a bit.
“I think that snow was just what we needed, I feel better already,” Roman said, undoing his scarf and leaning back against the couch. The other three voiced their agreement. Roman closed his eyes, deciding to check in on Thomas.
A blink, “Man, that whole thinking cold thoughts thing surprisingly helped a lot. Thanks, Talyn!” Thomas said. Talyn winked, standing up to get more water. A few moments later, and the three heard the AC kick back on.
“Hey, they fixed it!” Thomas cheered.
“Finally!” Joan said, standing up and stretching, “Maybe now we can actually start on that video we had planned.”
Thomas grinned, “Sounds good! Let me just summon the sides,” Thomas held up his hand, and Roman felt his view get ripped away from Thomas’s to his own as he popped up in the living room. Virgil appeared by the stairs, still wearing his beanie, and Logan popped up with Patton still in his arms, which he seemed rather embarrassed about.
“Uh… what’s up guys? Why are you wearing coats and stuff? You know its over 100° out,” the four all shared a look.
“It’s a long story,” Virgil said, immediately shedding his beanie and coat, “Just know that we had a sort of… summer snow day.”
