Traintober Day 24: Odd Jobs - Iron Show Pony

1948 - The Chicago Railroad Fair "Wheels-A-Rolling" Pageant

"You there, you know your mark, don't you?" 999 asked the engine facing the opposite direction on the other track. She'd just come off stage from her brief role in the pageant and the next engine, a stainless steel diesel-electric, was waiting for his cue.

"Yes, I know my mark," Pioneer assured her. "Right before the end of the stage."

"Just make sure you hit it exactly," 999 told him. "There's going to be a lot of people moving around before and after. Let's have no mistakes to pull focus." She had been next to last in the show, if you didn't count all these cars and bicycles and horses. The last thing she wanted was this new upstart diesel messing up his entrance and upstaging her grand charge across the stage, a pale reduced recreation of her record breaking run that it was.

That he had been given the finale just for being the newest was a slight enough. At least they were making him go slowly. Speed record or not - and hers still beat his by half a mile per hour - he'd only done it the once. He wasn't practiced at demonstrating his speed. He couldn't be trusted to do more than glide across the stage and stop just short of the wing so his flat, slanted front end stayed in view and everyone could see how shiny he was.

"Not to worry, Miss," Pioneer said. "I'll do it right."

1963 - The Museum of Science and Industry

"You might have said you'd been the star in an entire movie!" 999 pouted.

"Imagine trying to impress the famous No. 999 with that," Pioneer defended. "As if you would even have seen it."

"No, you just let me go on like that to a seasoned show engine instead." Worse than learning that Pioneer had extensive stage experience was knowing that he'd indulged her in the notion that he didn't.

"You're so famous, I was a little awed to be getting advice from 'The Queen of Speed'," Pioneer recalled. He graciously neglected to recall further that it was advice he hadn't needed. "There's not a lot of engines who can tell you something like that. And you'd already done so many more of those pageants than I had."

"Humph."

"It's not exactly the same doing it live either. If you miss the mark on film, they let you do it over," Pioneer went on. "In a live show, you do have to get it right in one try. So it wasn't as if you were wrong to say so."

999 stayed silent, but Pioneer thought she might be softening so he pressed on.

"It wasn't even a very good movie from what I heard."

"Yes, well…" 999 said, trailing to let him appreciate the gift of her forgiveness. "The important thing is we put on a perfect show. And you did hit that mark exactly."

So after watching a couple of videos I decided to make my own OC princesses for Disney. Most of them are black bc I'm not waiting on Disney; they want to keep Tiana a token so bad, well in my verse she isn't the only black Princess.

Itzel

Movie: Emperor's New Groove

Virtue: Generosity

Personality: Caring, responsible, moody, short-tempered

Love Interest: Kuzco

Storyline: The "girl next door" neighbor of Pacha, Itzel was a young woman who herded Llama so well she developed a reputation for being a llama whisperer. She was selected to be part of the Emperor's chosen brides but was rejected. In anger, and to defend the other candidates, Itzel insulted the spoiled king...and gets promptly kicked out of the palace. Later on, she finds out Kuzco was cursed into a llama. She poked fun at his predicament before realizing the power vacuum his absence would cause. She decided to help Pacha and Kuzco, and from there she and Kuzco learn they have more in common than they thought.

Princess Bron:

Movie: A Bug's Life

Virtue: Power

Personality: Spitfire, friendly, wary, resentful

Love Interest: Soar (OC)

Storyline: The sister of Atta and Dot, and the middle child of the Royal Family. A fire ant, Bron always knew she was an outcast among her peers. Bron fell fast for a rouge grasshopper named Soar, who unlike his peers he doesn't believe in mistreating ants. Together with Flik they hatch a plan to scare Hopper and his gang off the island forever. Bron also has trouble with Atta as the two have different opinions on how to handle the crisis. But after certain events the two sisters come to understand each other and eventually lead their people to freedom. At the end Bron and Saur leave to form their own colony but with bugs of all types.

Alma Mater

Movie: Cars franchise

Virtue: Ambition

Personality: Ambitious, friendly, outspoken, easily irritated, overworked, flirty

Love Interest: Finn McMissile

Storyline: Alma is the niece if Tow Mater (don't think too hard on it) who wanted to leave her town of Radiator Springs. When she encounters a stranger by the name Ligtning McQueen Alma believes she may fianlly found a way out of her sleepy decrepit town. But over the course of the film Alma gains a deeper appreciation for her heritage which helps her when she does go out into the big world. Alma inherited Doc Hudson's office, then left to pursue a career at CHROME. She also helped a Lemon named Lucia with her dreams of becoming a racer.

Lucia

Movie: Cars Franchise

Virtue: Inclusiveness

Personality: Headstrong, stubborn, self confident, prideful, pensive

Love interest: Francesco Bernoulli

Storyline: Lucia was a young Italian woman with dreams of becoming a race car. The problem? She was a Lemon, and often was sickly. But she refused to let her condition pull her down. Studying and modifying techniques, she grew to become a name in the Lemon community as a talent. However when she submitted her application to several organizations she was turned down. She was very close to giving up until she met a pink Tow Truck named Alma. Befriending Alma, thr two would go on to help CHROME take down a conspiracy and, Lucia ends up forming her own league allowing Lemons and other "defect" cars a chance to pursue careers in racing.

Lady Z

Movie: Toy Story franchise

Virtue: Diplomacy

Love Interest: THE EVIL EMPEROR ZURG

Storyline: Originally a schoolteacher from Earth, Zephyr was captured by Zurg after she stood up to him when he tried to take over her town. She was very snarky, and wasn't the least bit intimidated by his posturing. Which confused the hell outta the Evil Emperor! She'd get rescued by Star Command and over the years, she and Zurg had one encounter after the other. But SOMEHOW to the shock of everyone Zurg was actually kinda liking her ferocity. And hard as Zephyr didn't want to admit, she did come to respect Zurg for his consistency. The two ended up secretly dating, and eventually secretly married. Now with a ton shit of power Empress Zephyr wanted to help the galaxy than to conquer it so she took on the role of the diplomat to make sure intergalactic war didn't break out.

Hazel

Movie: Monsters Inc

Virtue: Change

Love Interest: James P. Sullivan

Storyline: After losing her job Hazel is making ends meet doing odd jobs. She gets a gig babysitting for a couple's three year old daughter. One night after hearing some noise, Hazel discovers a secret room Boo's door...that leads to the Monster World. Encountering creatures who seem more scared of her than she is of them, Hazel is nearly caught but comes across Mike and Sully.. Together the trio and Boo must find the door to take them back into the human world. As Hazel uncovers more secrets, she learns that the monster world and her world aren't so different and changes her perspective.

Personality: Bitter, determined, strong work ethic, flustered, stylish, classy, geeky at times

Love Interest: Bruno

Story: A fashion designer who came to the village after the events of the movie to study subjects for a new collection. She becomes enamored with Mirabel's unique features and her sewing akills and decides to recruit her as an apprentice. While Mára initially had a cynical point of view, staying in the humble community and Mirabel's positive influence, led Mára gradually softening up. However literal demons from hee past threaten the life she so carefully built. Mára had to learn to face her past, put trust in others and herself to save herself and her new friends

Paige Walters

Movie: Descendants Franchise

Virtue: Fairness

Personality: Nerdy, intelligent, bubbly, kind, impatient, anxious

Storyline: A girl from our world, Paige received a mysterious letter asking her to come to Auradon. While there she meets a variety of quirky characters who would become her friends. However, her life turns upside down when she is framed of a crime she didn't commit. After setting things right Paige decided to pursue a career in law and justice hoping to help The Isle and Auradon heal from decades of bitter feuding. Paige also learns to be more confident in her abilities as a sorceress.

Ariana Conelli

Movie: The Incredibles

Virtue: Forgiveness

Personality: Curious, naive, lovestruck, bubbly, sensitive

Love Interest: Buddy Pines (formerly)

Story: Formerly the self proclaimed Incredi-Gal, Ariana let go of her dreams of being a superhero in favor of a simple life as a science teacher at Dash's school. One day she receives an invitation for a tech start up and decides to work there. Swept up in the allure of a lush island retreat, Aria quickly learns that everything is not what it seems. Teaming up with her childhood hero, Aria must confront the truth and bring an end to an old friend's deadly scheme. Afterwards she goes on to work the Parrs as a live in nanny.

Princess Cosmica

Movie: Star Command, Lightyear

Virtue: ???

Personality: Reserved, quiet, friendly, kind, worrywart, sharp tongued

Love Interest: Buzz Lightyear

Storyline: A Princess from Planet Cosmos, Cosmica became a space ranger to protect her homeworld. During the events of Adventure Begins Cosmica joins Buzz Lightyear as a new team member. She wanted to show the world she was more than just a helpless damsel but a capable fighter, plus her diplomatic skills to lessen political tensions.

In the Lightyear Universe Cosmica is a part of Izzy's team and is a diplomat of the Cosmic Council. In an alternate universe she was married to Old Buzz. Her death was a catalyst to his turn to evil.

Temperance Reeves

Movie: Frozen

Virtue: Vulnerability

Personality: Steadfast, vulnerable, irritable, softhearted, intuitive

Love Interest: Elsa

Storyline: An American tutor, Temperance was invited to the coronation of Queen Elsa. After she ran away, Temperance offered to go with Anna to look for the icy queen. While Anna and Kristoff were chased out of the castle, Temperance hid and snuck further inside. She reached out to Elsa and talked to her, but then they were accosted by guards. Returning to the castle Temperance pleaded for Elsa's freedom. It was then she learned of Hans plot to kill the royal family. Finding a freed Elsa, Temperance told Elsa what she had found and the two rush to stop Hans. After saving Anna, Arendelle is restored and Temperance is rewarded with a knighthood. Temperance learns the importance of listening to others, and being honest and open.

Diamond

Fandom: The Muppets

Virtue: Community

Personality: Spunky, outspoken, self centered, flamboyant

Love Interest: Prince Fitzwilliam von Fritzwillhem der Gazillion (or simply The Prince) OC

Storyline: A fan story combining two of my favorite shows: Enchanted and The Muppets. Diamond is the Muppets assistant who wants to make it big as a star One night she comes across The Prince, who had been taken from his home dimension, and takes him in. Feeling a bit sympathetic towards The Prince Diamond teaches him about the modern world and brings him along to meet the Muppets. Because of The Prince's natural talent at comedy the Muppets sign him a gig at their upcoming show. Meanwhile Diamond learns to appreciate community and helping others (The Muppets) that it isn't just a one woman show.

Kendrix Tennyson

Movie: Tangled the Series

Virtue: Balance

Personality: Hotheaded, thorny, passionate, protective

Love Interest: Varian

Story: A peasant girl who befriended Rapunzel and Eugene during the movie Tangled. She returns in the series as a maiden for Rapunzel, starts to become interested in astronomy. She befriends Varian but due to the events of Varian's betrayal she put their friendship on hold. Later it is revealed Kendrix has the power of the Earth Drop, and that she and Rapunzel must find the missing Moondrop to restore balance. The Moon Drop ends up becoming Varian (not Cass in a surprising twist); leaving Kendrix with complicated feelings over completing her mission or her friendship with Varian.

The Great Room is simply breathtaking! This space has barn-like architectural details and buttress beams. Paint color is Benjamin Moore OC-56 Moonshine. Ceiling paint color is Benjamin Moore White.

hey hi feel so free to ignore this but here is a ~Random OC Question~ for any OC(s) of your choosing: What is your OC like as a neighbor?

hiiiiiii! i'm so sorry this took me a whiiile to answer, but ty for sending in anon! <3 AND I'M INTRIGUE with this question tbh! I'm gonna talk about a few of them for this, Raylene, Naya, Rina, and Zeph!

Raylene: Honestly, she would be a good neighbor. Also, she likes to greet her neighbors, always with a wave. She doesn't really talk to them a lot, but a wave would subside. She will be a good neighbor, because well, she knows what its like having very terrible ones in the past.

Naya: Honestly, you never see her a lot at home much. So, she's the neighbor that doesnt really exist until well, a neighbor calls her out for it! She tends to come back home very late, and leave home very early. So, she never really made any enemies in the neighborhood so thats good for her. She just tend to disappear a lot heh.

Rina: BEST. NEIGHBOR. EVER. she would always bake and cook for her neighbors, and I headcanon, she's living next to this family for years now - and she would join the kids on their playdates and such. She can be intimidating, but she's the friendliest neighbor ever. Be greeted with flowers and sunshine in the morning, because our girl here is a morning person!

Zeph: well............not the best, also not the worst. But, well; pretty noisy at home. Honestly, he is the type of guy who accidentally plays his music TOO LOUD. but, learns his lesson when a neighbor kinda yell at him to stop, and he indeed stop. He is improving slowly, and slowly trying to...well, not be in the neighbors bad graces, but - also, his neighbor's cats would stop by his front door, everytime he leaves the house and he transform into a soft boy at the sight of it. Boy is a cat whisperer hehe!

OC Tag Game

note: tagged by @wayhavenots , @sussoro and @cadetzarneki (thank you for tags ahh 🥺💖) like a while back and i never got to do this...so i'm totally deciding to do it now! def not tagging anyone cause its been a looong time ago.

Favorite OC: miss maia <3 honestly, since mind blind and that's when she's created..she definitely has that special place in my heart. and honestly, she's also in multiple universes right now (psst, wts and infamous psst) but, yeah; the favoritism is so clear but, yeah; i say she's my baby and i'm proud of her. ALSO, i have to add naya because yeah..i think her pinboard says everything hehe.

Newest OC: miss kendall monroe, she's the newest edition to the world of oc's on its own! she's my oc for circuit, and so far she hasn't been developed as much yet, but i can pinned down, she's a lego lover (outside the racing life ofc), very much a sunshiney but with a high kindred spirit to win definitely. still a tie on who she'll romancing but, roman is close up there hehe.

Oldest OC: lya toriezze. She's the first and oldest one i made when i first discovered IF's (aka twc mehe) and the one who's facing a lot of changes since then. But, yeah..she's the start of all of it..and she'll always be special. Definitely a self-insert at first, but she's grown to be quite a complex one today, 3 years later hehe!

Meanest OC: mean is quite a large word actually, but i think mean by history/story with good reason is definitely miss innes talavoire (a mage reborn!) but, the rest are not really mean, just wouldn't take anybody's shit and well...no filter. presenting, naya davis, and zephyr hudson! (there's a few, but..i think they're pretty mean but also with reason!)

Softest OC: miss grace lennon, my infamous baby. she's so soft..like; i love her a lot. alessia (the og open heart oc!), daniel and raylene are pretty softies. also, miss maia is a mix or everything..but soft is definitely one of them!

Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: OOOH, incheresting! I think the oc's that fit this category are; elliot reynolds and eden chan. those two are definitely top two. (honorable mention: naya davis also)

Dumbest (Affectionate) OC: daniel and ryan! (two himbos in one <3) and also, miss irene! put them in a room together, let's just say......it'll be chaotic as heck.

Smartest OC: the irony is the dumbest oc is also like academically smart? dan is like a phd student, and ryan is like a science grad, so let's just say..they both are pretty smart despite the him-bo (affectionate behavior <3) miss tamara, my validation burned out oc, yeap yeap. (but, for smartest, i think all of the oc's are technically smart on their own way yknow!)

OC I'd Be Friends With: honestly, all of them. (but also not really shjs); at the moment, i really have always wanna be friends with naya! also...at the moment, definitely jessica!

4. Which OC has went through the most changes in appearance before you were satisfied with it?

I feel like the most drastic change on appearance happens to Lya and Nixon! Both of them are revamp much more now then the first time I made them, and honestly I'm very satisfied with how they came out!! ALSO, mr. zephyr hudson. He quite has a lot of modifications too since his first one! hehe!

Scenario: Orpheus/Eurydice.

Note: I was talking to a friend about this, and well - here's some headcanons in a way. It's a painful one indeed. Low-key wanted to jump on the bandwagon also hehe, and idk why it feels so fun and painful to think of this. A bit of both. :sob: Okay, i might change it at point - but, this is what i got so far!

— if they were Orpheus, would they look back?

*Would Look Back: Maia, Dionne, Lya, Naya, Ryan, Elliot, Silvia.

* Wouldn't Look: Liliana, Zeph, Phoenix, Leslie, Iris, Tamara.

* uncertain : Max, Irene, Raylene.

*Maia, Ryan: Can't do it - they wouldn't trust themselves to make it till the end (it's a fragile situation). and wants to make sure. They tried small talk and filling the time, but just...there's a part of them that just told them to look. And they did it for a split second before their lover has disappeared. Both of them ended up regretting their decision - would beg, trying their best to get their beloved once again.

Reasoning:

Look back.

*Dionne, Lya, Silvia: An impulsive act of its own. She wants to be in control - she wants to know. They are capable of not looking until the very end, they give up and look. Realization dawned upon them, followed by grief upon ruining whatever chance they have left to be with their beloved.

*Leslie, Iris, Liliana: In their heart they know you'll be there. They are optimistic - and they will always believe you will be there with them by the end, so they kept on going forward without the need to look back.

*Naya, Elliot: trusted Hades. It's an unexpected decision for them; because they don't bullshit. But, in the end - they paused, realizing they have lost too much already. Looks back with tears of fear in their eyes, as their beloved disappear and their expressions read the disappointment in themselves. They survived losing people before, and this was supposed to be no different....right?

Didn't look back.

*Max, Irene, and Raylene: It's either logic or impulsiveness. They trusted the logic despite their heart telling them to look - they would try to look back but stop it instantly before it happens. The risk is too big for them to take. It's more than life itself - and they are torn.

*Zeph, Tamara, Phoenix: Pained to think the fact they can't see their beloved with their eyes. But, if it's the rules - who are they to break it. Rules were created for a reason - and they believe following the rules will give them some sort of reward which is to see you again.

Conflicted and confused.

— if they were Eurydice, what would their reaction(s) be?

???, why did you do it? Full-on denial upon their expressions. Dialogue filled with yells and a string of curses. (hypothetically) - Zeph, Max, Dionne, Naya.

Acceptance, painful smile but; they won't stop you. You are your own person. after all. - Phoenix, Irene, Leslie.

Tears, all the tears. Just a flood of them, not ready to say goodbye again. - Iris, Raylene, Ryan.

Smiles, since they got to see you — It's a good way to say goodbye (again). Just, anything to see your face again. It's worth it, it's always gon be worth it. - Maia, Tamara, Liliana

Numb, just... numb. - Elliot, Lya, Silvia.
