OC headcanon: I know tolkienocweek ended already and I couldn't finish it because I'm going through some heavy shit rn, but I really think that Nerdanel and my OC Valarie would become really close friends. They both were married to genius smiths that got greedy for power, turned evil and then subsequently died in highly anticlimactic ways.

When Val gets back to Valinor after retrieving Curumo's body to bury, she has to go through all the muddled emotional shit of missing her husband but knowing the shit he did, and having to comfort her daughter. Since Aule was her husband's old boss, Val was pretty close to Aule and so is Nerdanel and her family. Aule goes to Nel and says "there's a lady who shares your experiences, talk with her." Val's like: "my lady, no need to open old wounds on my account" but then they take walks together by the seashore and start bonding, trading stories about their crazy ass husbands and children. They're both creatives (sculptor and musician) so I can see them trading ideas, like what would a marble flute sound like or is it possible to sing stone into shape?

My girl Val, whom I haven't drawn in quite some time visiting big sister Uinen to introduce her little daughter Curuwen. Took forever to finish but I'm satisfied with the final result

(also, lionfish mermaid Uinen for the win...beautiful yet deadly like 99 percent of the ocean. Of course, had to give her green hair cuz she literally has canon seaweed hair. It was originally supposed to be actual seaweed but just became green hair along the way so...kinda bummed about that.

I was finally done with this but then I had to go and MANUALLY FIX THE DAMN COLORS because it decided to save way too brightly, turned all my grays into whites, made Val's skin orange and I was just really mad. Well now I finally got it the way I want it again, the brightness did one thing...at least the glitter is shinier.

So this is Curumo and Valarie, my OC for his wife back when they were still in Valinor. They bonded over their creative pursuits, Curumo was in the middle of tinkering with something (hence the wrench) and Val's trying to compose this song hoping it'll come together.

My OC Valarie with her two eldest children, Curuwende (Wendy) and Valamir (Mir), named after their parents. Wen isn't mad, she just has resting bitch face (a trait she inherited from Dad, along with the dark hair and eyes). Mir inherited a bit more of his mom's personality, which is why he's winking in the camera so he's a bit more relaxed and chill. They both think it's an absolute riot how their mother chooses to be shorter than both of them when she can simply change her form and make herself taller, but that's most likely not gonna happen.

OC Random Facts: Valarie

Y'all got random facts for Annya, my lovely daughter. Now you'll get facts for Valarie, my other daughter who coincidentally is ALSO married to a dark-haired brooding genius (my ladies got a type):

Val is a surf enthusiast, when she's not composing or performing she can be found shredding fucking waves (surfing's been around since at least the 4th century). She also taught all her kids how to surf.

Speaking of kids, she and Curumo have four kids in total, three sons and a daughter. Valamir, Curuwende, Morda and Gwion.

Gwion, the youngest was born in an abandoned spider's den because Val was on ME at the time to visit her friends and husband and went into early labor (dunno if Maiar can control that sort of thing but hey), so that's how he got his name. (Gwion means "son of the web" in Sindarin)

All their kids have Dad's black eyes except for Valamir (who's also the palest, the others are varying shades of brown like Mom). Gwion is the only silver-haired kid out of the bunch.

Val's hair is SUPER FUCKIN' CURLY when she doesn't straighten it or shift her form to make it straight (think like 3c/4a)

She has a pretty big hand in inventing musical theatre

She hangs out with Maglor from time to time and they do seaside concerts together.

Her three best bros are Uinen, Osse and Gandalf (Radagast is more like a weird cousin whom she's fond of but doesn't understand)

She and Uinen have girl time sessions four times a week where they talk about shit.

Her lute is silver-plated on its face and carved with sea-life designs, decorated with bits of pearl and coral, etc...it's very fancy and it's like her fifth kid.

She and Curumo invented metal music together, he experimented and made metal strings instead of the usual silk or catgut, Val tried it and was immediately hooked.

Like Aredhel always wore silver and white, Val is almost always seen in some shade of teal blue or sea green.

She spends more time on land than in her master's underwater palace

Sometimes she'll turn into a seagull to fly around and check up on (fuck with) people

A DnD bard through and through

Has the personality of an acting/pop-star diva, she's SO DRAMATIC it's RIDICULOUS. Really nice, really fun to be around, very bubbly but so dramatic.

"I'm an actress, I can't help it!"

Has nicknames for everybody.

Her magic mainly revolves around songs of enchantment and water (she's basically a waterbender)

Her biggest flaw is that she doesn't know when to quit. Like even if it's clearly hopeless and going nowhere, once she sets her mind on something she's gonna do it dammit: sometimes resulting in a waste of time, energy or even putting herself in danger.

In addition to being a minstrel and singer, Val is also an actress. I have a thing that she wrote and performed in a shit ton of plays (mainly musicals) in Valinor and has loads of fans. One of the first to invent musical theater.
