Fem! Reader x Ilja Dragunov

plot: reader congratulates Ilja on his NXT UK title win and he admits his feelings for her but reader refuses to start a relationship because she's moving to the US trope: friends to lovers pairings: british wrestler reader x Ilja Dragunov / reader x (platonic) Kay Lee Ray/ Alba Fyre a.n: im literally so obsessed with him its crazy. this is set during NXT TakeOver 36 and time skips to Iljas nxt roster debut

Y/N groaned in pain as she kicked out barely in time. She was facing Meiko Satomura for the NXT UK Championship during NXT TakeOver 36. This match was set just before the NXT UK Championship match, Ilja Dragunov vs Walter to break his 800+ day streak. Meiko looked at the referee in disbelief, not believing that Y/N just kicked out of two scorpion kicks and a suplex. Her distracted gave Y/N a chance to kick her in the face, and lock her into a sleeper hold. "And a sleeper hold from Y/N! Is she gonna get Meiko Satomura to tap out?!"

Y/N's eyes widened when Meiko managed to flip Y/N onto her back and she let out another pained groan. Y/N pulled herself up to her knees only for Meiko to run and perform Scorpio Rising onto Y/N pinning her to the three count to retain her title. "And still! Your NXT UK Women's Champion! Meiko Satomura!" Y/N slammed her hand down in frustration and anger, upset that she couldn't win the title but it wasn't anybodys fault except hers. A few tears ran down her face as she sat in the corner, looking at Meiko who raised her title proudly.

Y/N bit her lip and looked up to see Meiko extend her hand to Y/N. With a heavy sigh she took Meikos hand, letting Meiko held pull her up. Y/N stepped back and bowed out of respect, in which Meiko also bowed. "Congratulations," Y/N spoke, shaking Meikos hand gently before stepping out of the ring to let Meiko have her moment. Y/N got backstage, getting a round of applause from everyone in the gorilla. She smiled as she shook the hand of Triple H and then Shawn Michaels. Y/N thanked them before making her way out but Walter, who was in the gorilla for his match next, stopped her.

"You did phenomenal. Congratulations on your match." Walter said, putting a hand on her shoulder gently and offering a smile. "Thank you. It means a lot. Good luck out there," Y/N responded, shaking Walter's hand before continuing to leave the gorilla. She didn't even notice she passed Ilja before he had gently grabbed her arm to stop her. She turned to look at him and smiled, "I just wanted to say you did amazing out there. Even though you didn't win, you still put everything on the line to make the match great. I'm very proud of you." Y/N smiled at his kind words and looked up at him.

"Thank you, I can't express how much that means to me. Uh I really hope you win tonight so good luck and stay safe," Y/N said, leaning up and pressing a kiss to his cheek. Ilja nodded and blushed as he watched Y/N walk away and run over to Kay Lee who immediately grinned and embraced her best friend. "You did so good! I liked the little homage you payed to me," Kay Lee said. Y/N laughed and pulled away, "Thank you. It was a last minute thing but I just had to pay homage to the woman who got me back into wrestling." Kay Lee smiled and glanced back to see Ilja enter the gorilla, not before taking a glance back at Y/N who was looking at Kay Lee.

"Sooooo...you gonna tell Ilja how you really feel about him? Or are you still too scared?" Kay Lee teased, nudging Y/N's shoulder as they walking into the women's locker room. "Shut up. I'm not scared I just don't know if it's the right time. This was my last match in NXT UK and Ilja most likely is gonna win the championship tonight so that would mean we're gonna be in completely different continents. It wouldn't work out between us whether he likes me back or not," Y/N stated, plopping down on the couch and looking at Iljas match about to start.

"Oh come on, you don't seriously think you can't make it work?" Kay Lee asked I'm disappointment. She had shipped Ilja and Y/N the minute they had met in wXw. "Kayleigh you try dating someone who lives in the UK whilst you're moving the US. It would never work out with our schedules," Y/N shrugged. Kayleigh frowned but dropped the subject and leaned her head on Y/N's shoulder as they watch the match.

Y/N let out an excited shout, shaking Kayleigh in excitement when Ilja pinned Walter for the title. "And new!! NXT UK Champion! Ilja Dragunov!!!" Kayleigh and Y/N grinned and hugged each other, both happy for their friend. A tear of happiness fell from Y/N's eye as Ilja held up the title with tears in his own eyes. "Go! Go to him!" Kayleigh said, and Y/N turned to look at her, "Should I? Are you sure?" Kayleigh nodded, "Yes! Go!" Y/N nodded to herself before running out of the locker room and heading to the gorilla. Ilja made it back through the curtains and Y/N immediately ran and hugged him, he ignored the pain in his chest and embraced her back without hesitation.

Y/N smiled and pulled away slowly, "Congratulations! You deserve it more than anyone!" She smiled. He grinned, "Thank you Y/N. Couldn't have done it without your support." Y/N shrugged it off and he chuckled before she left him to talk with Hunter and everyone else. Y/N congratulated Walter on the amazing match before heading to catering where Kayleigh had went to talk with Dakota. "Sooooo...did you tell him?" Dakota asked as Y/N sat down at the table, taking a sip of the cold water she grabbed. "No, he just finished his match, I can't burden him with that," Y/N said, shrugging slightly.

"Hey Y/N, Ilja asked me to tell you if you can go to the medic room, he needs to talk to you," Shaun (LA Knight) said, sitting down next to her and taking a bite of Kay Lee's brownie in which she slapped his hand. "Oh okay, thanks for lettin me know," Y/N said, he nodded and snatched Kay's cookie off her plate. Y/N stood up and headed to the medical room, knocking on the door before peeking in and Ilja waved her over. Y/N stepped in and shut the door, glancing at the title that laid on the chair. As much as she was happy for him, it also meant they wouldn't see each other as much anymore.

"You wanted to see me?" Y/N asked, leaning on the wall and watching as he held a bag of ice to his very red chest from all the chops to the chest he took. Literally anyone who faced Walter needed to ice their chest considering Walter was literally known for his famous chest chops. "Yeah, I actually really wanted to tell you something important," he said, setting down the ice and Y/N gave him her full attention. "Uhm, I don't really know how to say this. But, ever since we met that night in wXw, I couldn't stop myself from falling completely in love with you. And over the years I thought I could finally push those feelings away and let you go when you started dating Jordan two years ago but I still just couldn't push those feelings away. I don't think I've ever felt this way for anyone so I'm hoping you feel the same."

When Y/N didn't say anything he let out a sigh and looked down in disappointment. "I really don't know what to say. I mean I obviously didn't realize I loved you until after me and Jordan broke up and you were the first to show up to my place and do your absolute best to cheer me up. I just, I mean I really wished you told me this sooner," Y/N mumbled. Ilja leaned forward and gently took her hand, pulling her closer to him. "I wish I did to so I could ask you to be my girlfriend sooner," Ilja said, cupping her face gently and she smiled slightly.

But then she remembered that she would be moving to the US and looked down in guilt. "What? What is it?" He asked in concern, seeing her face drained of the happiness it showed before. "I...I can't be your girlfriend, Ilja," Y/N said, and the happiness also drained from his face but also some confusion showed. "What do you mean you can't?" He gently moved her face so she looked at him and she sighed heavily. "Tonight was my last match in the NXT UK. Next week I'm announcing my departure from NXT UK and next month I'm debuting on NXT. I'm gonna be moving to the US," Y/N explained, watching all the color drain from his face which made her feel guilty.

"Well, I guess that's a really good reason for rejection," Ilja said with a small chuckle, putting on a smile but she knew it was fake. Y/N smiled softly and nodded, "How about we make a proposal?" She said, and he perked up, interested in the proposal. "I'm listening."

"When you get called up to the main roster or NXT, then we can continue this conversation about this relationship. Deal?" Y/N stuck out her pinkie and Ilja looked down at it with a raised brow, "There's no way I'm doing a pinkie promise," he said. Y/N rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Don't act so high class with me. Intertwine the goddamn pinkie Dragunov," Y/N said with raised brows. Ilja sighed and threw his head back with a dramatic groan before intertwining his pinkie with hers and she let out a small cheer. "You didn't have to but it was so funny anyways," Y/N laughed.

Ilja rolled his eyes but let out a small chuckle of amusement, "I hate you." Y/N scoffed, "A minute ago you confessed your love for me so I think otherwise." Y/N smiled and he smiled, wishing he could just kiss her already but they couldn't or they would most definitely start a relationship. He didn't want to be the reason Y/N would stay in the UK for him so he had to let her go.

Just for now.

It was exactly over a year later. Y/N was NXT Women's Champion, winning the title from Mandy Rose at NXT: Stand & Deliver. She had currently unified the NXT and NXT UK titles at Worlds Collide, having a phenomenal match with Meiko Satomura and pinning the Champion, which she was heavily praised for as it was very rare for someone to pin the woman. (Blair wasn't in the match) Y/N was told she would be fueding with her long time friend Alba Fyre FKA Kay Lee Ray. This set up Y/N vs Alba at Halloween Havoc for the title.

Y/N rolled her shoulders as she walked out of Shawn Michaels office. He was discussing how he was giving her full permission to say what she wanted on the mic. Before Triple H recently took charge of the company, Y/N was given written scripts that she had to go off of and now she had full permission to say what she liked. Kayleigh walked over to her and put her arm around her shoulder, "So, after our segment I want you to meet an old friend who came to visit. Or well...stay," Kayleigh said with a smirk and Y/N squinted her eyes at Kayleigh in suspicion.

They entered the gorilla so Y/N didn't have much time to respond before her music hit and she walked out. Y/N wore a black AC/DC shirt that tucked into her black jeans with some combat boots and her hair up in a ponytail. Y/N stepped in the ring and got handed a mic, then a chair, that she set up and sat down on. She waited for the crowd to quiet down before she spoke, "So, last week an old friend of mine challenged me for my title, and attacked Toxic Attraction in the process. Which I don't really care about because it's Toxic Attraction. But I do care about the fact that Alba Fyre thinks she has the right to challenge me when she didn't even earn it."

"But, I thought hell maybe it's a good idea. I mean I'm tired of fighting Mandy Rose and beating her each time! Are you tired of that as well?" Y/N asked the crowd in which they all responded with a 'Yeah!' to her question. "Exactly. Like come on, give me someone else to beat. My left pinkie finger has more talent in it than Mandy Rose does in her entire body. See, now a person like that shouldn't even be focusing on my title. She should be focusing on actually learning how to wrestle because let me tell ya something. Mandy Rose is probably one of my worst opponents ever. I've had better matches with rookies than I've ever had with Mandy Rose."

"So, enough about Mandy because the more I talk about her, the more her ego rises. I'd rather talk about Alba Fyre. See, Alba Fyre and I, we go back all the way to when she had her first match in ICW. Now when we met, I wasn't even wrestling anymore, I had quit, and she was the one to push me to wrestle again and I couldn't be more appreciative for that. But that was years ago, and I'm a new person. And the only thing I appreciate is this title, not friendships. But, but, I couldn't help but notice that Alba Fyre thinks that our past friendship would get her a title opportunity. I really don't appreciate that thought."

"Friendship doesn't get you anything. No because when we were friends, she got everything I wanted. I was stuck under her shadow. I wasn't able to shine on my own. And I'm sure she remembers every second of that. I'm also sure she remembers NXT UK TakeOver, when she almost ended my career all for a bloody title. And I still forgave her." Y/N took a breath, bit her lip as a grin appeared on her lips. But before she could continue, Alba's music hit and she made her way out, wielding her bat as usual but she was sure she didn't need it. "Y/N, Y/N, Y/N, why are you so obsessed with the past?"

"I've changed my ways, I've apologized for my actions in the past and I've moved on. Why can't you? You can't even respect the past opportunites you were given so why cant you just move on?" Alba asked, stepping into the ring which made Y/N stand up and back up slightly. "You're seriously gonna ask me that? God you are so full of yourself. You're gonna tell me to forget about the past yet the minute you arrived in NXT, you wanted everyone's respect when you did nothing to earn it. You wanted everybody to know that you were one of the greatest NXT UK Women's Champions. No, you don't just demand respect, you earn it. And you would know exactly what that means because you were the one to tell me that."

"I am so sick of handing out opportunities to everyone. First it was Raquel, then it was Iyo, then it was Cora, then it was Dakota, then it was Mandy and now it's you. You don't just get an opportunity just because you change up your persona and think you're better than me. If you want a title opportunity so bad, then do something to prove you deserve it. You know what? How about, Alba Fyre versus Gigi Dolin next week? Winner, gets to face me for the NXT Women's Championship at Halloween Havoc. Oh and darling, if you lose, then you will never get to challenge me for this title again," Y/N said.

Alba smirked and stuck out her hand to the agreement. Y/N looked down at it before shaking her head and walking past Alba, shoulder checking her in the process. As Y/N walked to the curtains, the crowd suddenly grew louder and that's when she turned to notice Toxic Attraction had attacked Alba from behind. Y/N immediately ran back to the ring, sliding in and tackling Mandy off of Alba. Y/N threw her out of the ring and ran into the ropes, coming back and spearing Jacy into the mat as Alba hit Gigi with her bet. Y/N clenched her jaw and picked the mic on the mat, pulling her title onto her shoulder she glared down at Toxic.

"Oh now you done pissed me off. That match I just announced is now gonna be pushed back another week because next week I'm teaming up with Alba Fyre one last time and we're gonna kick your asses!" Y/N tossed the mic and glared down at Toxic Attraction. Alba looked at Y/N and they both looked around at the crowd who chanted for them to hug it out. Y/N stuck out her hand instead and Alba took it, but pulled Y/N into a hug which made the crowd cheer and Toxic Attraction completely shocked by the reunited alliance. Y/N smiled and hugged her old friend back, but then pulled away and grabbed her title, raising it and Alba shook her head with a chuckle.

Once they got backstage, they were obviously praised for the amazing segment before Kayleigh led Y/N to their locker room. "Why is this such a big deal that you need to cover my eyes?" Y/N asked in annoyance and Kayleigh rolled her eyes as she opened the door and led Y/N inside. Kayleigh smiled at Ilja who stood there, had been waiting for them to arrive. "Okay, keep them closed and open them when you hear the door shut," Kayleigh said. Y/N nodded and Kayleigh removed her hands and quickly left the room, giving Ilja and smile before she shut the door.

Y/N grumbled under her breath, annoyed that Kayleigh left the room. Then she let out a sigh before opening her eyes, being faced with Ilja who smiled shyly at her. "Oh my god! What are you doin here?!" Y/N ran and jumped into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist and he supported her weight by holding onto her waist. "They finally called you up? It was rumored you were being released," Y/N said, remembering how upset she was when she heard that rumor going around. "I'm debuting tonight actually. I'm gonna be facing Bron Breakker and Jordan at Halloween Havoc," Ilja said.

Y/N grinned and jumped back down so he wouldn't have to keep holding her. "That's so amazing. I'm so happy for you," she said, having her hands on his biceps. "I'm supposed to go out there soon but I really wanted to see you first," Ilja said. Y/N smiled and looked down awkwardly, "Soon...are you gonna be staying here long or are you gonna be called up again?" Y/N asked out of curiosity but also because she needed to know so she could tell him something she also found out. "I think I'm gonna be here for a bit if they book me to win the title. Why?"

"Because I'm being called up to Smackdown after Halloween Havoc. They want me in the title picture I guess," Y/N explained. Y/N couldn't see any disappointment on his face like she thought she would, but instead he looked genuinely proud of her. It was always her dream to be called up. "That's amazing, I'm really happy for you. You deserve it more than anyone," Ilja said, with a proud smile. Y/N blushed and looked down before glancing back up at him, "Do you remember the proposal we made?" Ilja chuckled and nodded, "Yes, how could I forget? You made me pinkie promise."

Y/N chuckled and bit her lip nervously, "Do you wanna...ya know..be my boyfriend?" Ilja didn't even respond before he pressed his lips against hers, not even being able to hold back anymore. Y/N didn't waste a second before kissing him back with the same amount of passion. Pulling away for breath Y/N cupped his face, "I take that as a yes?" She laughed. Ilja chuckled and nodded, pulling her in for another kiss.

His post of the two kissing with her face not shown went viral the minute it was posted, captioned with 'finally got the girl ❤'. It didn't take long for everyone to figure out it was Y/N, especially seeing the haircut and dyed hair. Everyone was happy for them and Y/N could not be more happy to finally be with Ilja.

Not the One

Pairing: Rhea Ripley x Reader Warnings: smut, top Rhea, bottom reader

You couldn't help but feel somewhat betrayed by Rhea joining Damage CTRL for Wargames at Survivor Series. That spot was supposed to be yours, and Rhea had swooped in and taken it. The consideration that Damage CTRL had for you went right out the window whenever the idea of Rhea joining them came up. You knew that you weren't as strong as Rhea, but you had your own strengths in the ring. What you lacked in the power game, you more than made up for in mental games and your in-ring intelligence. You played things smarter instead of harder, something that you thought would come in handy during this match. Apparently nobody else seemed to think so.

The worst part of everything was that Rhea didn't seem to understand what she had done. She had been on everybody's mind because of her storylines with Judgement Day, but you had nothing. You didn't get title opportunities, TV time, or a chance to prove yourself even. This was supposed to be your shot, and Rhea had waltzed in and plucked it right out of your hands. You never said a word about it to her, not even when she invited you to train with her for the event. There wasn't a whole lot of time, but Rhea had done a Wargames match before. She had been at the NXT one, which you had also just not been picked for. You couldn't blame her about not thinking of you before, but it kind of hurt to think about sometimes.

"Are you okay because you seem kind of distracted?" Rhea asked you. The two of you had been running through some offense and defense strategy together in the ring at the gym, but your mind hadn't been in it. Rhea had called it quits about an hour earlier than she had planned to and just taken you back to your place since it was closer than hers.

"I'm fine," you lied. Rhea reached out and grabbed your wrist as you turned to get out of the car. The two of you hadn't discussed whether or not Rhea could come in with you this time, but Rhea got the feeling that you didn't want to be around her. "It's nothing, really. Rhea, you can relax."

"That's bullshit," Rhea said. "Tell me what's going on with you. I'm a good listener when it matters."

"Why is it never me? Why am I never enough to be picked for something? Anytime there's another option, someone else takes it instead of me." You hadn't meant to sound so distraught, but once it started you couldn't stop it. Rhea tightened her grip on your wrist a little, but not enough to become uncomfortable for you. She looked over at you, and you could see the guilt in her eyes. She knew what she had done by taking that spot alongside Damage CTRL. She just hadn't admitted it to you. "You knew."

"Not for sure, but I was hoping you'd talk to me before things got like this. I was waiting for you to say something Y/n, and things went a little too far. I didn't mean to hurt you this badly, I swear," Rhea told you. You weren't sure that you believed her. Rhea wanted to be the best, she wanted to be on top of it all, and sometimes she'd make sacrifices in her personal life to get there. You had seen the fallout of her battle with Toni for the NXT UK Women's Championship. You remembered the way that Rhea had acted when she arrived in Florida for good, and how even when she was "the good guy" she couldn't fully commit to it.

"It doesn't change that you did it," you said. Rhea unbuckled her seatbelt and leaned over the center console to kiss you. You weren't completely sure why you were letting her kiss you, but you needed the comfort. Rhea had hurt you, and she was going to try and make it up to you in the one way she knew couldn't be misconstrued. Physical intimacy had always come easier to Rhea than using her words did. She'd tell you that she loved you sometimes, but you could feel just how much she meant it whenever she kissed you.

"I'm sorry," Rhea apologized. This time, it was your turn to use actions instead of words. You caressed Rhea's cheek gently before pressing another kiss to her lips. You nodded towards your apartment building and the two of you got out of Rhea's car. She locked it behind her as she followed you. You could tell that Rhea was trying hard to keep her hands off of you as the two of you made your way up to your apartment. Once the two of you were inside, she finally stopped holding herself back and quickly moved into your personal space. You turned just in time to kiss her, the two of you moving backwards towards your bed.

Rhea's kisses weren't exactly gentle, but you could tell that she was trying to be much more tender than usual. Rhea touched you cautiously, watching to make sure that you really did want this as well. Your arms wrapped around the back of Rhea's neck as your legs wrapped around her waist. Rhea pushed her body against yours as the two of you made out. You didn't want her to move away, but you knew that in order for things to progress she would have to. Rhea tried to stay as close to you as possible as her hands travelled down your body. The two of you hadn't been more than a couple inches away from each other since Rhea had kissed you until she sat back to watch your body as she fucked you. Rhea's eyes didn't leave your skin as she watched every muscle twitch and little movement as they happened. You felt a little self conscious, but it passed whenever you saw the look of pure admiration and desire in her eyes. Rhea was doing all of this because she wanted to, because she wanted you.

"I'm sorry," Rhea apologized again. The room got quiet again when you came, quiet enough for you to hear Rhea muttering her apologies over and over again. You pulled her towards you to try and comfort her, both with your words and a little bit of affection.

I gotta say I like the new word heavyweight championship. So much better then the copy and paste championships we’ve had for the past few years, like seriously every time I see the wwe and universal belts I think to myself “This is not it.” Women’s titles could have been better, UK and UK Womens were perfection.

I would buy this title if I knew my ass wouldn't be halfway in the street immediately after. And those NXT UK titles were always looking really well done. When it comes to creating titles I think the key thing they always need to take into account is variety. I also liked when they introduced that rainbow tint to the NXT world titles. I think it's a nice look.

Feud ~ Your favourite rivalries? - This seems similar to the storylines question that I answered here, but this gives me a chance to highlight some of my other favorite rivalries (these are mostly women's feuds, btw):

Nikki Bella vs Carmella (2016) - I know what you are saying, really, a Nikki Bella feud? But that feud was so well done for a short term feud, and it did a well job on introducing Carmella to the main roster audience.

Trish Stratus vs Stephanie McMahon (2001) - I know the reasoning of this feud was due to... well, yeah (thank god Shane ended that shit), but they worked well together, and it was a fun feud.

Deonna Purrazzo vs Jordynne Grace - After watching parts of their Victory Road match, they have that we are destined to do this forever vibes.

Sasha Banks vs Bayley (see above)

WWE Clash at the Castle (2022) - REVIEW

BUILD-UP

Clash at the Castle represents WWE's first stadium based event since SummerSlam (1992) and their first general PPV since One Night Only (1997) which I was lucky to be in attendance. I very nearly bought tickets for the event itself however there were a few factors that ultimately persuaded me to watch the event from the comfort of my own home. Clash at the Castle doesn't sound as tantalizing a prospect or carry the prestigious weight of a SummerSlam, but there's still nothing quite like a WWE Stadium event and then there's the card itself to consider.

THE CARD

The card isn't overly stacked with just seven matches but each of them has enough heat to keep the audience invested in their respective stories and stakes. There are a few notable admissions such as AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley, Karrion Kross (sort of), Kevin Owens, Ronda Rousey and even the newly crowned Women's Tag Team Champions. I personally feel that there was room for a couple more but on the flip side a few of them had the potential to be Match of the Night.

Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre has long been overdue since their Survivor Series 2020 encounter and should've been the main event at WrestleMania. Reigns/McIntyre is the centre piece of Clash at the Castle rightly so but there is definitely appetite for change and the timing feels right for McIntyre to be propelled back to the top.

Bayley, Io Sky and Dakota Kai have injected much needed momentum into the women's division but the pairing of Asuka and Alexa Bliss has never quite worked for me with Bliss in particular lacking direction with her character at the moment. WWE Creative have done a great job building the 6 person tag team matches while Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle has show stealer written all over it.

THE SHOW

The show itself was well paced and didn't feel too long with each match given the time to develop into something special. Not every match quite managed to be a five star classic but there were no duds either. The post-match segment following the Main Event with Tyson Fury felt very odd and I find it strange that the show didn't go off the air since there wasn't anything meaningful in that segment.

MATCH 1: Bianca Belair, Asuka & Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley, Io Sky & Dakota Kai

This was the right match to open the show with and it didn't disappoint. Coming off the back of a surprising defeat in the Women's Tag Title tournament, this is the perfect opportunity to propel this new trio who also receive a new name. The match itself was a good opener with a good showing from all participants. The heel Bayley at odds and trying to play down the pro-Bayley chants of the British crowd was amusing to see. The result for me was of no surprise and made sense in the grand scheme of things to give the returning and well balanced trio of Bayley, Sky and Kai some momentum. Sure it's another loss for Asuka & Bliss but Bianca Belair has been on fire this year and this result sets up the inevitable clash with Bayley down the road.

MATCH 2: Intercontinental Championship Match - Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus

This was a match I was anticipating as I felt could offer up something special and I was not proven wrong. I've been a fan of Gunther since his NXT UK Imperium days and I think WWE have done very well with him since his elevation to the main roster. This is the sort of match I was expecting and Sheamus was the perfect choice as both are well matched and their styles compatible. The match itself was physical and brutal; it told a great story, it didn't overstay its welcome and it had the right result. The crowd was rightfully behind this and gave Sheamus a deserved standing ovation. For me this stole the show.

MATCH 3: Smackdown Women's Championship Match - Liv Morgan (c) vs. Shayner Bazler

I feel a little bit sorry for Liv Morgan because as much as she is a tryer and a hard worker, she doesn't quite convince as women's champion as much as she does as underdog chaser. Shayner Bazler on the other hand has long been underserved on the main roster with a misjudged debut at Elimination Chamber that fizzled out after WrestleMania 36. That Bazler hasn't been elevated to a major star on the roster and hasn't had the big PPV matches with the likes of Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks is criminal. Sadly this match won't do anything to improve that but it is one that makes Morgan look stronger and more convincing as champion. It's a decent enough match but the crowd never felt to be truly invested and the whole thing felt a little flat. That in itself is disappointing as both delivered enough to warrant more of a reaction.

MATCH 4: Edge & Rey Mysterio (with Dominik Mysterio) vs. The Judgment Day (with Rhea Ripley)

This match might've generated more interest for me had the Judgment Day been booked as a greater threat. Going into this we have seen both Edge and the Mysterios pick up wins against the Judgement Day and even here they lose again. For a faction that had so much initial promise when Edge, Priest and Ripley were members, this feels like a missed opportunity although not on the same level as Retribution. The match itself here was good with all participants on fine form with enough thrills and moments to keep the audience fully invested. The twist of Dominik's turn against Edge and his father was perfectly timed and gave it a belated lift. But for me the result should've gone the other way.

MATCH 5: Seth 'Freaking' Rollins vs. Matt Riddle

This match had a long standing and excellent build up with a long personal rivalry involved. Featuring one of the best standing wrestlers of WWE in Seth Rollins against the up and coming Matt Riddle who has enjoyed a tremendous run with Randy Orton; this match perhaps more than all the others has Match of the Night written all over it. It didn't disappoint in the slightest with both competitors made to look strong and tell a story in the ring that was in tune with their long standing rivalry. Rollins' Elton John ring gear made me laugh out loud but after selflessly putting over Cody Rhodes 3 times in a row in 3 outstanding matches, Rollins deserved the win here. Both men came out looking great, it's position on the card felt more than justified and is definitely one of the best matches of the night.

MAIN EVENT: Undisputed Universal Championship Match - Roman Reigns (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

This is the match the whole event was built around and it delivered everything a classic main event needed except one thing ... the right result. I'm not dissing Roman Reigns, I think his run since he debuted the Tribal Chief gimmick has been outstanding. He's delivered quality match after match and his 2 year reign is both credible and destined for legendary status. But if you're going to pass the torch to someone else then I can't think of anyone more deserving and an event more suitable to do so than for Drew McIntyre. The crowd would've loved it, the match deserved it, Tyson Fury's knock out of Austin Theory's cash in was genius so I cannot understand why you wouldn't drop at least one of the belts to McIntyre. The result unfortunately undermines the legacy of the event with a program that didn't offer up much in the way of truly great twists or surprises. Reigns is a great champion and McIntyre doesn't come off looking weak. But the result sadly makes Clash at the Castle feel like a filler event even if the matches in general were of general excellent quality.

Thanks for the request anon! This is my first time writing this pair, so hopefully I did okay!

Takes place after Shayna won the NXT Women's Championship for the first time. Yes, I know Rhea was on NXT UK at the time, but I'm just pretending she was on both NXT UK and NXT at the same time for the sake of the story.

Warning(s): light teasing, lots of fluff.

Word count: 553

It's nearly midnight, and all Shayna wants to do is sleep. The night of NXT Takeover: New Orleans was a blur. Fighting a grueling battle against Ember Moon. Dislocating her shoulder mid-match and forcing it back in place using the ring post. Finally, after nearly 13 minutes, winning the NXT Women's Championship.

After all the chaos. After the post-match interviews, and the pictures with fans, and the celebrating with her friends, she finally makes her way back to her hotel room. She showers quickly, pulling on an oversized t-shirt and a pair of Vikings pajama pants. She's about to go lock the door, when she hears a knock from the other side.

"Hey champ." She hears the voice before her tired brain is able to process the person standing in front of her. But no matter how tired she is, Shayna would know that voice anywhere.

Rhea Ripley. NXT Superstar, NXT UK Women's champion, one of the best in the business. But above all else, she's Shayna's girlfriend. And despite her exhaustion, Shayna takes Rhea by the hand and pulls her into the hotel room. Rhea gives her just enough time to lock the door, before grabbing Shayna and pulling her onto the bed. "Hey, none of that tonight," Shayna says, giving Rhea a stern look.

"I know, I figured you wouldn't be up for it after the night you've had," Rhea says, running her fingers through Shayna's damp hair. "Can I interest you in some cuddles instead?"

Shayna smiles, letting Rhea pull her close. "Sure," she says, giving Rhea a soft kiss.

"I'm so proud of you," Rhea says, looking into Shayna's brown eyes. "My champion." She smirks a little at Shayna's blushing cheeks.

Shayna playfully rolls her eyes at the teasing. "Oh stop it," she says, kissing Rhea for longer this time.

"You know you love it," Rhea teases, kissing Shayna on the tip of her nose.

"I do not!" Shayna protests, cheeks growing warm.

Rhea smiles at her fondly. "Yes you do," she says. Before Shayna can argue again, Rhea slides her hands under the hem of her girlfriend's t-shirt and begins tickling her.

It's quite possibly Shayna's only weakness, and it really is unfortunate for her that Rhea knows it. Because she's unable to do anything but laugh helplessly as Rhea's nails skitter up and down her sides, cheeks turning pink as she squirms underneath Rhea who has somehow climbed on top of her, pinning her to the bed.

Rhea leans down and kisses Shayna's lips, her nails still tickling her girlfriend. Shayna giggles into the kiss, unable to form words as she eagerly kisses Rhea back.

Eventually Rhea stops tickling her, but stays on top of her. "You alright there giggles?" she asks, teasing Shayna.

"I do not giggle," Shayna protests, trying to hide her smile.

Rhea raises an eyebrow. "Really?" she asks, resuming the tickling and grinning as Shayna once again falls into giggles.

"Okay okay stop it!" Shayna manages to say through the laughter, catching her breath once Rhea stops.

Shayna wraps her arms around Rhea tightly. "I love you," she says, cuddling her girlfriend close to her chest.

"I love you too," Rhea says, running her hands through Shayna's hair. "My champion."

That night, Shayna gets the best sleep she's had in a long time.

Note

If this is true and Rhea ends up winning the RR and defeats the Evil to win SD women’s championship, then she would be the only woman in the company to have won the NXT UK Womens Championship (she was also the inaugural NXT UK champion), the NXT Women’s Championship, the Raw Women’s Championship, the Royal Rumble and the Smackdown Women’s Championship. And she’s still only 26 years old.

Okay, I see that and I love that for her! But it also makes me think that Bayley vs Becky it’s happening as well!

NXT World's Collide - Initial Thoughts

Now to part 2 of 3

In NXT UK's last hurrah before taking a hiatus and becoming NXT Europe, what remains of the UK roster are to be integrated into the normal NXT, including their titles. The World's Collide event sees NXT UK cross NXT in battle in our second PPV of the Weekend, All Out will be (somehow) fitted in tomorrow

Spoilers for the PPV

No matches for the Kick-Off, bit remiss given how it's only a small card

Starting with NA title with Pretty Ricky, but Melo with the hanged jerseys mind games, Sikoa among the shirts, Melo has the NA title decal on his knee pad too

The two are very clean in their wrestling, a great double springboard cutter to cancel each other out popped the crowd

Also Stu Bennett has been great on commentary

Melo wasn't sneaky leaving his foot out for Trick to pull like half an inch XD

Good match, probably could've benefitted from story, Trick did bide Melo time but it was the paul smackage when Ricochet landed on his feet for the Shooting Star Press

Oh, so Roddy's dead

There are a lot of bodies for this four way

Ahhh Briggs and Jensen eliminated first by Gallus, so much for the NXT UK Tag Champions

That alliance between PD and Gallus didn't last

Creeds then eliminate Gallus, who don't leave quietly

Julius' hot tag was great

The eliminated teams are fighting in the ramp for some reason which leads to a le sigh ref bump

Kemp then of course uses this to turn on the Creeds

Urgh they had to go with the Zoolander Twins, where was Brutus throughout all of this?

The same promos from Clash are on NXT, does WWE think that we don't watch both?

Tony D'Angelo trying to validate the fact that he lost LDF doesn't work, but he looks to be trying to side with Cameron Grimes who blows him off

You make Meiko come out first!?

Bit too much smoke for Bea/Blair

Mandy arrives in a...car? Sporting USA attire

Someone is screaming far too much

Yeah that list doesn't do Mandy favours

Reminder that Meiko is 42 years old and still amazing

Of course the fickleness of American crowds that they will cheer anyone American against non-Americans

And Rose *URGH* wins, Meiko hits the Scorpion Rising on Blair and after having to set her up, Rose hits both with the running knee

I am absolutely fucking baffled that between Bea Preistley and MEIKO SATOMURA, WWE choose Mandy Fucking Rose to still be their champion

Why do I even bother? They made her beat Raquel, KLR and Io after all, I just expected the better wrestler to win

They moved Axiom vs Nathan Frazer to Wednesday :/

Just be Nikki Cross and Piper Niven already!

First to challenge all active women's championships but won nothing in NXT

Chance is literally so mini compared to Doudrop XD

Toxic Attraction make a distraction which occupied Nikki so that KC2 can beat Piper, even though Piper proved able to handle both women previously in the match

That's 3/4 interferences btw, plus Nikki could've made it, weak match really

Main Roster bias made the tag champs look weak as it is

The Dyad are just weird, why couldn't we have the Grizzled Young Vets?

Still not sure how I feel about Bate with the long Jesus hair

Of course my internet chooses the main event to start blipping out and killing the vid quality, I've seen the buffer bar longer than I saw Bate's entrance

Never been done? Titles have been unified from two different brands and even companies for like decades

Bronn's shoulder was well up from that Airplane Spin slam

Bronn kicks out of the Tyler Driver 97 but Bate gets to the ropes for the Gorilla Powerslam

Bate forgoes the second Tyler Driver attempt to try his rebound Shotei and runs into a spear to lose

Least Tyson Fury didn't come out to sing American Pie, but again it was just, fine? I guess I never quite bought that NXT would give it to Bate

There's something missing as well, I can't quite explain it but it's like that buzz in my chest that makes me into it, Bate and Bronn are great workers, but I feel like they could've done a lot more

Conclusion

Honestly, I would've rather slept. The opener was good but after that it was just a snowball of weak booking choices, I get you wanna make it feel evens but the fact that Pretty Deadly and Mandy became unified champions in succession then postponed a potential best of 3 banger between Ben Carter and A-Kid shows the mentality NXT 2.0 has at play, thew Vince-ism is still there, right down to the 'home team' bias.

I also hope that the NXT UK belts aren't gone, they are WWE's best looking belts, and if they are gone I will happily take the UK title for myself if they name a price.

Overall it was fine, somehow didn't top Clash at the Castle, ball's in All Out's court now. Now I have to have 5 hours sleep...
