Tony Khan Travels with a Trunk Containing 50 Unreleased AEW and ROH Championships
The owner of two wrestling promotions is ready for every single wrestler in his company who isn't Shawn Spears to become a champion at the drop of a hat.
Tumblr media
As the owner and operator of both AEW and ROH, Tony Khan is responsible for several titles. There are currently 14 titles between both promotions, which seems like a lot until you realize there are 15 WWE titles between Raw, Smackdown and NXT.
As it turns out, Tony is not happy having one less title than WWE. He reputedly has 50 titles ready to go at a moments notice. The belts have been made and are stored in a massive trunk he has moved with him to every single event by Shawn Spears. Theses titles include...
Animal Planet Hardcore Championship
New Jersey Cruiserweight Championship
Donny's Pizza Mid-Western Championship
Tim (This one is literally just named Tim)
Professor Snape Memorial Women's Championship
Tony's Favorite Wrestler Championship
It's important to note that Shawn Spears will never be allowed to hold any of these titles, much like any of the belts he has seen in WWE and AEW. If Shawn gets to close to one of the new titles, Tony sprays him with a water bottle and screams, "Bad, Shawn! Down!"

I have an English Essay to write, but I don't wanna, so I am going to try and match the word limit by talking about wrestling.
Last year all my English work was based on tragedy so that shall be the theme for this whole post and when I think 'tragedy' and 'wrestling', "This is my moment."
Tumblr media
The feud between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano exhibits tragedy in many ways (not just thinking about both men's main roster runs), lots of stories in wrestling can be seen as 'tragic' MJF/Punk, Raven/Dreamer, The Tribal Chief but it is this story that I believe exhibits tragedy the most. This is due to a wealth of tragic moments and aspects that I aim to outline in this essay.
One way in which The Ciampa/Gargano feud exhibits tragedy is in the moment pictured. The plot twist of Ciampa's heel turn. This moment is built off of misdirection and executed perfected. Ciampa had teased turning heel during the cruiserweight classic but their friendship carried them forward and had an incredible tag run before falling upon a string of losses ending in their Takeover: Chicago ladder match loss to the Authors of Pain in a ladder match. Even here they work well as a team despite Ciampa picking up an injury and Gargano even takes a ladder shot to the face for Ciampa because of how strong their bond is. Then after they lose they walk up the ramp holding each other up, getting a standing ovation from the crowd with pained emotional looks on their faces. The WWE/NXT copyright logo pops onto the screen which usually only happens a few seconds before they go off the air. And then Ciampa whispers "This is my moment" his face hardening into a scowl and he unleashes a brutal attack on his tag team partner. There is something I find tragic about suspecting the break up, then being convinced it won't happen and then it catching you completely off guard. I believe that there are also some very tragic moments in their first match after Ciampa's turn as well. Chief among them is the echo of the AOP ladder match where Ciampa stands before Johnny holding a crutch that he has repeatedly used as a weapon, Johnny on his kneed like he was in the AOP match when saved Ciampa by taking the hit for him and Ciampa sees this and falters for a bit. The audience thinking their may be a chance he has a heart but then he hits Gargano and we see how far gone Tommaso Ciampa truly is.
And there is also Tragedy in the finish to this match (which I personally believe to be the single best finish to a professional wrestling match) and you might expect me to cite the moment where Johnny can't bring himself to hit Ciampa with the knee brace, sitting next to him echoing the cruiserweight classic before the ever dastardly Ciampa tries to get an unexpected attack on Johnny who dodges and submits Ciampa with the knee brace. And I will, of course in tragedy in Gargano giving Ciampa another chance and Ciampa using it to try and hurt him but what really gets me is that Johnny knew it wouldn't work that's why he's able to dodge the attack because he saw it coming he knew Ciampa would betray him again but wanted to give give his friend one last chance. Their third match, a Last Man Standing, match is similarly tragic because of the arc Johnny goes on leading up to it. Many heroes in tragic literature are corrupted by outside influence starting their tales noble and ending them changed. This precisely happens to Gargano. Their second match took place because Johnny, despite holding a win over Ciampa, became obsessed with fighting him. That match ended with Ciampa winning because Johnny went to far and was more focused on inflicting pain than winning. Then Ciampa uses the momentum from that win to secure a match against Aleister Black for the NXT Championship, and in Johnny Gargano's mind it is his sole duty to ensure that Tommaso Ciampa doesn't become champion. However in trying to do this he accidently costs Aleister the match, coming to the terrifying realisation that Tommaso Ciampa is champion because of him.
Because of this Johnny continues his decent into madness attacking Aleister Black in a parking lot to take him out of a proposed Black/Gargano/Ciampa Triple Threat match. He believes that he has to take Aleister out of the match because it was his mistake that led to Ciampa being champion in the first. Over the next few months Johnny becomes more and more of a villain including a short reunion of their team 'DIY' that ends with Johnny giving Ciampa a cathartic beatdown. The place where I believe the tragedy truly sets in however is in the stories conclusion in their final encounter, Johnny Gargano Vs Tommaso Ciampa 'One Final Beat'. This match's finish is genuinely Shakespearian both in the fact that it contains similarities to the playwrights works and that, much like the endings of Shakespeare's' plays, I didn't like it. But I can't say that it doesn't enhance the tragedy the major characters all ending this story worse off is a devastating way to end it. Most tragic of all NXT's 'Heart and Soul' corrupted and hurt till he became the biggest villain in NXT.
In conclusion, I didn't match the word count. but this was fun genuinely if you take the story to end at Johnny winning the title at Takeover: New York it's my favourite story in wrestling. But I'm not the biggest fan of the stuff that happens after. I hope you enjoyed my procrastination.
This has been Undisputed Queer-a.
Slay The System, certainly Shock The Cis-tem, sorry I'm a day late, I will see you next Monday (probably, hopefully, should be)

I was approached by WWE Officials asking if I would mind moving down to NXT to give them some star power, I was on the fence, but ultimately decided to head down to the Black & Gold brand for I have never competed there during my career. I relinquished the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and made my way to Orlando. My 5th straight win came at the very game Roderick Strong, granting me a title shot at NXT IN YOUR HOUSE. With my Steel Faction flanked behind me, I head into battle as the new NXT Cruiserweight Champion!

Top 10 Best Things About New Japan Pro-Wrestling (Part 2)
Description: NJPW lost some of it's luster with the departure of a few of their more popular Gaijins and with the pandemic limiting their roster and what talent they could bring in and use for their tournaments and bigger events, the pandemic has been somewhat rocky. There are still a lot of positives to enjoy though and I think 2022 and especially now with the working relationship with AEW should be a much better year for New Japan. Here are some of the best attributes that you can look forward to.....
10. Exciting Tournaments-According to many western fans, the G1 Climax fell flat last year, and even according to some people in the company like Tama Tonga, the concept of the G1 and how it's put together has kind of become stale. I think Western fans believe this tournament should be sort of a launching pad for the talent, kind of like WWE's Royal Rumble or Money in the Bank but that's not really how it functions. It's more like the "Playoffs" in other professional sports. They are choosing an opponent for the ace or the current champion here. They have too much respect for the prestige of their titles to just boost someone up via the G1 that isn't ready for that honor. I saw a lot of people saying that Jeff Cobb should have won which doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering he's not really one of the more popular Gaijins and he's under Will Ospreay as a member of United Empire who himself just reached that World Heavyweight Champion level. While Jeff Cobb is an exceptional performer especially for a guy that size, I think this is what makes the tournament exciting and also validates the winner...it's the guys who CAN'T win that make winning mean something. Aside from that they have tournaments like "The Best of the Super Jr's." which is kind of like the G1 except for Jr. Heavyweights or what would be Lightweights or Cruiserweights in the West and they also have the New Japan Cup, the Super J-Cup, World Tag League and now the Super J-Tag Tournaments every year. Some of them, most notably the Jr. Heavyweight Tournaments, use talent from around the world which allows them to keep the match-ups fresh and add some variety to the participation.
9. The Young Lion System-Japanese Pro Wrestling companies have a dojo system, kind of like how WWE has a developmental system with the Performance Center and NXT. This system has produced some of the greatest Pro Wrestlers that Japan and the world has ever seen.
8. Transforming Talent-NJPW's ability to help wrestlers find themselves and mold their own identities is uncanny. If you think about where some of the biggest stars, they've produced were in the early stages of their careers especially when they've worked other places and then look at how they developed with New Japan, it's a massive leap forward for some of them. I mean Kazuchika Okada was a joke in Impact, they gave him a stereotypical Karate/Green Hornet gimmick. He came home and became the ace. He is one of the most talked about and respected Japanese talents of this generation, whose reach extends well beyond his country limits today. Remember Kenny Omega before he was in Bullet Club or even in Bullet Club during the AJ Styles run? He went from just being the Jr. Heavyweight guy, to the leader during maybe the most lucrative and memorable years of the stable's existence. Bullet Club was so popular that The Elite were able to partner with someone to start their own major company. Look at a guy like C.J. Parker, look at his debut as Juice Robinson and even his first Wrestle Kingdom match against Cody Rhodes...he evolved into a completely different person from there; winning championships, starting a stable and bringing his own unique style to the company.
7. Dedicated Veterans-Without weekly television, NJPW's talent doesn't burn out as quickly as they maybe would if they worked for a mainstream company in the States. That means that guys like Minoru Suzuki, Jushin Thunder Liger, Tomohiro Ishii, Yuji Nagata, Hirooki Goto etc. can work well into their late 40's to mid-50's and still be productive and an asset to the company. That's a great thing to have because when you're building a future, you need guys like these to put your young guys over and sort of be gatekeepers for the company. While Kenny Omega as his rival did a lot to push Okada, his rise to the top wouldn't have been possible without guys like Katsuyori Shibata, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tetsuya Naito. One day Okada is going to have to play that position for the Young Lions under him and the cycle just continues that way.
6. Strong Main Event Scene-In the late 90's/Early 2000's, NJPW entered a "Dark Ages". Antonio Inoki saw that the business was shifting, and MMA was rising in popularity.  After humiliating his Aces and former stars by feeding them to legit martial artists in shoot fights, guys like Shinsuke Nakamura, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Katsuyori Shibata were able to pull them out of the slump. Building off of those talents, they were able to reach the heights they are at today. Though they lose some talent each year, they have still found a way to mold guys who can help carry the company. Former Jr. Heavyweights, Kota Ibushi & Will Ospreay really stepped up for the company in 2020, Shingo Takagi came into his own, KENTA returned to Japan from WWE, and guys like Hiromu Takahashi, EVIL, Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. are starting to play bigger roles. The pandemic effected their business the way it has everyone else’s but NJPW is still top heavy, they can still put together rivalries at the top that people want to see.
