Just had the loveliest 4am conversation with my awesome (okay, I admit, he’s one of my favourites! Shhh, don’t tell the others!) nurses, Mark. We talked about Japanese art and fashion, and Space and the space exhibit at Cardiff Museum I’m going to see later today, about books and sewing, about parachuting and the fastest animal alive (a peregrine Falcon btw!), nail art and how much we both love London. We also talked about how nothing is impossible; I told Mark that one of my dreams is to actually live in London short term, for a few months. I always used to think this was impossible, but Mark pointed out that I’ve done a lot of so called “impossible” things in my life, albeit if not always in the traditional or expected way. Instead of starting my day of focusing on the fact that my pain/spasms/sickness woke me up in need of medication, I’ve started my day having a lovely chat with a friend 😁. Thanks for coming to work with me at Duke Women's Cancer Care Raleigh. I also have the pleasure of working at Duke Cancer Center Cary and Duke Cancer Center Cary Radiation Oncology. So, what do I do? I am an oncology dietitian. I educate and help people with cancer and their caregiver/s navigate the nutrition-related side effects of cancer and cancer treatment.
