What if after Wei Wuxian left the Cloud Recesses when they first met, Lan Wangji actually changed his mind and decided that he did want to take Wei Wuxian up on his offer of visiting Yunmeng, but Lan Qiren said no?

Sat in front of the person who used to be my entire world - it’s strange what 2 months can do…
There could have been love, there should have been hostility, and yet we chatted as if we’d only just met and the only thing we had in common was being stuck in the same conference room

Can’t get over the fact that, if only for the briefest of moments, Simon was actually asleep, the reason I’m bringing this up is cause of the fact that in episode two (technically still episode one if you think about it) Simon didn’t get a wink of sleep. So seeing him finally getting some rest after the shitshow he had experienced, I was really sad that he had been woken up.
He looked so at peace 🥺
Also noticed that he’s positioned in such a way that if someone or something made its way into the barn, he would be the first to know. Call it habit from when he would stay up, back during the aftermath of the great mushroom war when those ooze creatures were still walking around, to protect marcy from any danger.

thinking about rise leo and love languages this morning
i saw sam and gb’s post about how touch is his love language and i 100% agree!! it’s very clear that physical touch is how he tells people he loves them
but!
i was also told once that your love language for how you GIVE love and the language for how you RECEIVE love can be different, and i think that applies heavily to leo
because i think that words of affirmation is how he receives love
i mean. everyone loves a funny guy, right? a face man gets praise, doesn’t he? there’s an entire episode dedicated to this, minotaur maze, about how he wants to be Told that he is a champion (“You know, it’d really help me if you guys said that I was your champion.”)
and i think that episode also highlights the tragedy inherent in leo’s desire to be told that he is good and loved. because he almost never gets told that he is loved and appreciated for who he is! (“Just open it!!!”)
(this paragraph contains spoilers for the rise comics, reader beware!) there’s a scene in the comics where april is practicing being an emcee and she introduces the boys as they walk in the door, hyping them up. leo gets super excited about it and he goes through the door last. by that time everyone has left and he’s facing an empty room. so he does his own little hype-up and gets mocked by splinter for it. it’s played for laughs but my god is that just the saddest scene for me.
and there are two issues with words of affirmation being leo’s love language. the first is the culture the boys have of ribbing each other. they don’t really mean what they say, but if that’s all you hear? if there are no heart to hearts to juxtapose the jokes with ‘seriously though, you’re great and we love you’? it’s hard not to internalize that.
i mean, look at the episode air turtle. the dunk gives him the praise he is looking for and boom! leo is instantly ready to do anything for him. honestly, any time he gets praised for Anything he gets this look on his face like that person hung the moon in the sky. it’s heartbreaking.
the second issue is the terrible catch-22 he’s caught himself in. he’s not getting the love he needs from his family, so he asks for it. unfortunately, he’s a little shit, and his family thinks he’s just being obnoxious. and he is! because they aren’t giving him what he needs and he’s desperate!! and he just keeps asking and asking and asking and h-hold on. hold on. i need a minute hold on. fuck!
and don’t even get me started on the movie!!! yes, we’ve all talked about how he thinks he deserves to be sacrificed because he’s the one who fucked up and lost the key, but has anyone considered?? that it’s Also because he’s thinks he’s the odd man out, that he’s not worthy of being there, feeling unloved because no one Tells him they love him?? i mean, yeah actions speak louder than words, but some people need to Hear it
so yeah. thinking about leo and love languages today.

I saw the white/blue/gold in the other ask and my mind immediately went to this dress:
Senator Shockwave could have taken a picture of himself where his plating's color is so hard to determine that it accidentally starts a controversial discussion all over Cybertron.
You can ignore this, it was just a fun thought.
“Oh my gosh ye— wait. That’s probably not possible because…science.” <- my initial reaction
Reality aside, that would be hilarious.
But also! Imagine this: The Senate had an account on whatever social media network existed at the time.
Each senator was given access to it when it was their turn, and it was their job to make the Senate look good in some way during their time running it. (A month, a quarter of a year, whatever)
Being more than a little vain with a revolutionary streak, Shockwave had other ideas. lol
Dai Atlas: Remind me again how you got banned from running the Senate’s account?
Shockwave: Supposedly, I was posting “personal content” too often. My frequent posts about my paint jobs weren’t well received. Neither were my “inappropriate” posts about interesting things and people who caught my eye.
Dai Atlas: …I see.

A few thoughts, that turned into a personal essay and then some rambles.
***
It’s been a few days since the NCIS: LA series finale aired, and I think I’m finally ready to compose a few more coherent thoughts than “baby!” and “I’ll miss them”.
At the time I began watching the show (just after the sixth season ended), I had recently graduated with my bachelors degree and was whiling away the summer with a part time job, and wondering what I would do with my life (and brand new degree). I first discovered the show after seeing a few posts online about Densi. I figured I’d give it a try, having no idea what I was about to get myself into.
The first season dragged a little for me until one Detective Marty Deeks entered the picture. With his addition, I looked forward to every episode and quickly burned through all the available seasons. I literally woke up some mornings, anticipating the moment I could get home from work to watch more.
LA was also the series that inspired me to get more involved with fanfiction, first seeking out every fic related to the Descent/Ascension arc, then searching out my favorite authors on Tumblr, and eventually trying my own hand at writing about my favorite characters.
I never expected to find a wonderful group of fellow fans, new and old, to discuss, rant, and rave (in a good way) about Deeks, Densi, Kensi, and so forth in the process. This community’s encouragement and support gave me the confidence to keep writing, even when it seemed laborious and futile. They lured me out of my silent lurking to participate in discussions, fan events, and fic exchanges.
Eight years ago, I would never have anticipated that I would have so many online friends or that I would write several hundred thousand words of fanfiction dedicated to my favorite characters. Or have the confidence to profess my undying affection for Marty Deeks at every chance.
This show, these characters, these friends, saw me through hard days at work, the boring days, sad moments, and kept me going for the entirety of my graduate studies.
We celebrated, raged, complained, cried, and sometimes shared group anxiety together over this show.
This is what this show has meant to me. I know that we will continue to celebrate and enjoy rewatches together and connect in other ways, but I still feel a great loss with this show’s ending.

gonna lose my mind if kim’s murder board is just a whole load of nothin’. jeff said in an interview that kim is crazy (his words, not mine).
he’s seen his mom die from circumstances we don’t know (could’ve just been illness or an accident - both already traumatic enough, to lose a parent at a young age - but she was also a mob boss’s wife so…).
he saw his oldest brother kidnapped and left incapacitated. he’s watched his next older brother letting tawan close enough to him to cause fall out bad enough that people still talk about it and kinn had to kill tawan (or at least fake his death).
so now imagine he knows there’s a mole (unrelated), and now porsche shows up out of nowhere (also unrelated) and he’s found all these newspaper clippings of mysterious fires (unrelated) and porsche younger brother wants him to “tutor him in guitar” (unrelated).
and in the end it was just all confirmation bias of him trying to predict the next Theerapanyakul Catastrophe. and once every piece on the board is explained, with half of them just being coincidences, kim & chay are left looking at his board like
