An: lets all take a break from Xiao and Scaramouche's bs AND FOCUS ON SPOILING THIS SPOILED KITTEN. also i didn't add the pics since i dont think its necessary anymr and yes this is still Adopting Meowmouche fic
Tw: none
Tumblr media
"[Name] i sent some money on your bank account, since you deserved it very much my dear; u can spend it on whatever you like" Your heard your mother speak through the phone and you have mixed feelings about what she said; concerned and happiness.
"but Mother i already have my own money.. you should save up for yourself too yknow.." your mother chuckled and said "we both know that your mother dont know what is the word saving up!" You laughed with her on the phone, you agree with her because when you met Kuni you immediately showered him gifts and even affection!
"mother i think i know where i got this genes coming from" you giggled while looking down at your sleeping kitten at your lap "Mhm definitely not coming from me" you let out few laughs before saying your goodbye to your mother and wishing her to take care as always and hung up
"Now where should we start first.."
Tumblr media
1. First things first you head to the store to buy 2 sack of cat food; wondering how will you carry it to your cart with Kuni inside your bag while watching you struggle to lift up a heavy sack 'this is harder than i thought..' you gathered up your strength and successfully carried the sack and put it on your cart, tho you wanna bring another one but you decided to buy one for now.
2. "Do you want that?" You asked Kuni while he keeps staring at the cat bed and it looks REALLY fluffy. He look at you with THOSE big doe eyes which you can't resist; he knew your weakness. He can basically just stare at you and viola! He gets whatever he wanted. You chuckled before petting him "alright well lets see the price-..." You went silent as you check the tag price, sweating drop you look at Kuni while he keep looking at you with those eyes (new west fr/j) "We promised that our budget will be only 1k but... Scrap it! Im buying this." You added the soft and fluffy cat bed in the cart and move on forward.
3. "You already have a cat tree at your rook but It looks boring... Should we buy this?" You point at the very looking expensive cat tree that have some cat toys inside it, Kuni meowed and look around before meowing again. You didn't understand him but you'll just take it as a yes "does this thing even fit in the car..?" You asked yourself and ended up adding it to your mountain cart full of everything that Kuni needs.
4. Just as you we're about to go to the counter you decided to buy Kuni some cat clothes. Now you're filling up your phone with billions of picture of him wearing a different cat clothes while squealing like a high school girl ignoring the weird looks that people gave you "OMG YOU ARE SO CUTE ON THIS!" lets be honest you devoured the whole cat clothing section..
Tumblr media
Once you two got home you immediately placed everything on its place, and cook dinner for yourself and make a special food for Kuni. While cooking you heard your phone rang you stopped from cooking and picked up the phone
"hello who's this?"
"[Name] its me Ayaka.. do you have any spare cat toys because Thoma decided to keep a cat too so i was wondering if i could borrow those?"
"ofc! I could send the toys for you tomorrow, also i think you and Thoma should visit the house along with the new Cat he keep in" Ayaka hummed and you could feel her nod "Sure! But its only Thoma coming though because me and my brother have other plans tomorrow" You smiled while using your shoulder to hold the phone while cooking "Alright! Sounds great, stay safe Ayaka and tell Ayato and Thoma i said hi to them!"
"thank you [Name] and yes i will! Stay safe too!" She hang up and you almost drop your phone when you loosen up your shoulder but thank god you have Spiderman reflexes and you immediately catch it
"Kuni its time for dinner!" You called out, seeing no cat appearing or meowing "Kuni?" You start to look everywhere in the living room only to find him sitting on top of the the robot cleaner while the robot cleans the floor.
You chuckled before grabbing your phone and took a picture of him "C'mon lets go eat and after dinner you can sit on top of the cleaner again!" You smiled at him and the whole night you two spent watching movies while eating the delicious dinner you made.

While usually the best advice is specific to your team/main dps character, there are some basic generic rules of thumb the games never tells anyone
When it comes to spending resources, it’s always best to focus on your main dps first, then focus on the rest of your team since resources are limited and you can only farm for stuff so much in a day. Most teams consist of a main dps (main source if damage), one or two supports (to provide buffs, healing, shields, etc) and one or two sub-dps’s (deals damage from off field). Always prioritize what skill your leveling too. A main dps’s normal attack is usually super important, but almost completely negligible on a support. However, after level 6 (usually the minimum for a decent skill level) you will need to start farming weekly bosses, as each character will need a specific dropped item from a specific boss to increase the skill (if you have Dream Solvent, it can be used to change its drop to another item dropped by the same boss) 2 of the weekly bosses are locked behind part 2 of Zhongli’s and Raiden Shogun’s story quests, including the boss that has Ayaka’s drop bring behind the Zhongli weekly boss
The main decider of your effectiveness besides skills are your weapons and artifacts, which sounds simple but can get complicated fast. The majority of your base atk will come from your weapon as most characters actually have fairly low base stats. Unfortunately without more specific team info and I can’t recommend any weapons in general (Except the Staff of Homa is universally considered the best weapon)
Artifacts are tricky. Now that you are over AR 45 you can get five star artifacts, which can be leveled up to 20 (each star can reach 4x itself to the max level). 4 and 5 star artifacts have set bonus that are usually much more specialized than the generic 3 star and lower artifacts, but are much stronger as a result. They will determine the majority of your stats. With the exception of element/physical damage and healing bonus, the secondary stats of an artifact can be anything that doesn’t repeat the main stat. The main stat of Flowers is always flat HP, and Feathers flat Atk, with the other three being variable. Except for very specific characters, it’s generally best for the Sands to give either Atk% or Energy Recharge, the Goblet Element%/Physical% appropriate to the character, and the Crown either Crit Rate or Crit Damage
Oh, and you’ll need to farm regular world bosses like Hypostases and Regisvines and the like depending on the character to level them up, as they will need their specific items too (Almost forgot about them)
[takes all the fucking notes]
okay I didn't know about how the artifacts worked properly, so that was SUPER USEFUL!
I kinda copied my main team build from a youtube video, so I didn't quite get why it worked until you explained it
The team is Main DPS Ayaka equipped with Amenoma Kageuchi, Sub-DPS Rosaria with Favonius Lance, Support Xingqiu with... well whatever sword I had because I had zero luck with those so far, and Sucrose with Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slaying
Now I've been trying to build a team around Diluc since I got him as my second 5 star and I need two teams to do Spiral Abyss. Oh and also to get all the ascension materials and artifacts I need, because my mostly Cryo team needs a Pyro team to farm shit for them
On a side note I wasted an ungodly amount of resources on Xinyan, because I adore her design, and managed to get her all the way to lvl70 before finding out she's so bad she's a meme character
So sad for my rocker lesbian

Burning Things with Genshin Impact Characters
Summary - Burning things together, escaping burning buildings, and raiding Hilichurl camps <3 Ahh, the epitome of love.
Pairings - Chaotic Reader x Albedo / Venti / Ayaka / Scaramouche
Warnings - Mentions of fire, alcohol, suggestive themes, and uhm- ✨ c h a o s ✨
A/N - Bro- this is just my mental break after writing 6.9k of smut in my last post ;-; And my next two posts are supposed to be for Genshin women and their smut so… I need some cute fluff before I get into that.
Albedo
“Y/n… calm down.”
Urgent eyes darting over the vicinity of your apartment, you hardly spared the light haired boy a glance. “‘Calm down?’” You asked incredulously, flapping your arms around as if that would solve the issue of smolk. “I’m not sure if you’ve noticed yet, but our house is ‘burning.’” The bits of ash stung your arms, smoke seething against your eyes.
“I’m aware, I’m just asking you to get off the windowsill.”
Looking down at your already prepped foot right on the metal of the only opening the room, you flashed him a glare. “Uhm… no? I’ll have you know I have things to do and places to be, I’m a very important-”
“‘Y/n,’” Albedo interrupted, exasperated. “Please, come here.”
“No!” You shot back, “‘You’ come here, you aren’t going down in flames with your lab experiment. No matter how important it was.”
You could slowly see the patience from Albedo’s face melt away. An incredible feat, it was far too bad you didnt have the time to admire his ticked off face. “And you plan to jump off and break a couple bones?
“Better than death by fire.”
This time, the alchemist simply pointed to the experiment table, unable to form words.
“Yes and? I already know you messed up your experiment.”
“And,” he continued, irritated. “The table is the only ‘damn’ thing on fire. ‘The only thing on fire.’ The entirety of the house is just ‘dandy.’ Now help me put it out.”
You removed your foot of the ledge. “Oh, now that you mention it…”
Albedo put a hand to his head, sigh escaping as he rubbed his temples. “You’re almost worse than Klee… no, scratch that. You’re worse. Klee wouldn't have run away, she has the decency to stick around and out the fire out.”
“I thought it as a life threatening situation!”
“Mhm,” he hummed, displeased. “Whatever you say, get over here.”
Venti
Your drunk figure stumbled across the plain of grass, arms outstretched as you spun around. The wind rushed past your face, cool against the heat that ran through your veins. You felt dizzy, the world spinning in circles around you.
“Hey!” You spun around, foot sliding around the grass as you struggled to keep yourself from falling back. “You- you over there.”
“Yes?” The bard spoke, whisking the alcohol bottle in his hand in circles. He too had chugged a few too many bottles, but nothing to get him as wasted as you were at the moment. “And I do have a name you know- I’m aware you’re drunk, but it still hurts to know you’ve forgotten it~”
Squinting your eyes, you racked your mind for a name. “Oh.. uh…” It took only a moment till the name flashed in your name, and with a giggle, you turned back around. “Venti!”
“Yes?” He responded, this time with a wide grin.
All that stretched in front of the two of you was a wide field of grass, a grand tree, and a hilichurl camp. The two of you were too far away to quickly make it to the tree, and far enough not to arouse any suspicion with the monsters.
Of course your focus was on the hilichurl encampment.
“Look!” You pointed to the wooden pillars perched upright, two or three hilichurls dancing around a fire. “Lets destroy it!”
Venti nearly choked on the beverage in his mouth, swallowing it before he let out a chuckle. “Destroy it?” he repeated bemused, staring at your knocked up state. “I’d be surprised if you managed to make your way there-”
As if to prove him wrong, you started sprinting.
“Uh oh- hey! That wasnt what I meant!!” And he was sent racing after you.
By the time you made it to the camp, the Hilichurls had taken notice of you. All three of them standing up with some kind of weapon in hand. Your joyous laugh sent shivers down their spine, wobbly walk making them back up.
You were ‘scaring’ them.
“C’mere,” you cooed, arms wide. “I don’t bite.”
“Yes you do,” Venti mumbled once catching up to you. Too low for your ears to catch.
When the hilichurls didnt move, you whirled around to grab the vodka from his hand. A high percentage of course, Venti couldnt get drunk on normal wine or too low of a vodka. With a squeak of surprise, he reached for the bottle.
But it was too late.
You’d throw the bottle right at the hilichurls, who dashed away right at that moment. They abandoned camp and sprinted towards the meadow to find some refuge in the trees.
But that wasnt the end of the chaos.
Oh no, the bottle just ‘had’ to spill its contents onto the grass. And well, knock over a torch light stand while it was at it, which meant what? Fire.
“Its burning!”
“Oh dear…”
Venti pulled you away from the camp, sending a gust of wind to pick up the remainder of whatever was burning and put it out. “What am I gonna do with you…” he whispered in a groan. You happily skipped alongside him, giggling at his remark. “My little menace.”
He made a mental note not to bring you to the tavern again.
Side note - No Hilichurls were harmed during the raid-
Ayaka
“‘I’m saving her.”’
Hanging on a tree just beside the Kamisato residency, you and Thoma crouched on a single branch, tipping from side to side to regain balance before falling. That wasn’t the main issue, because just beside you was Ayaka, trapped in a burning building as she frantically tried to put the fire out.
“I’m her bodyguard,” Thoma beside you seethed, pushing you lightly to get you to move. “Therefore its my jobs to protect her, move.”
You shoved back, “And she’s the girl I love, got an issue with that?” You stuck your tongue out, “Or maybe you’re just ‘jealous’, wanna play hero and get her to fall in love? Too bad, you know we’re a thing, get over it.”
“Do you ‘want’ me to hurt you?”
“No thanks, save that for your new girlfriend and your bsdm kinks.”
“HEY- I DONT HAVE-”
But you’d already jumped, grabbing with both hands onto the window ledge and hoisting yourself up. The smoke hit you, burning your eyes and making your nose scrunch up in distaste. If this was your first reaction- how was Ayaka?!
You looked around, spotting the girl trying to put out the fire. It wasnt a big one, in fact it was just the cooking stove and a tinge of the carpet was on actual fire. The rest was just too much smoke, and a coughing Ayaka spilling water over everything.
Racing over, you began stomping on the flames of the carpet. Noticing you, she put her attention on the stove, and the two of you managed to clear away all the fire in no time.
It was when she put her hand over her mouth to cough that you realized you needed to get her out of there. Picking her up with ease, you cradled her in your arms as you dashed to the window. You didnt want to know what the rest of the house, and if there was any more fire, Thoma could put it out right?
Unfortunately for you, that wasnt even your main worry as you made it to the window. Water had somehow made it just below the windowsill, and instead of jumping out with precision, you slipped you with Ayaka in your arms, screaming out in surprise.
So you did all you could do, tuck her in your arms with your back to the ground and hoped you didnt die.
“‘Umph’- holy you’re heavy.”
You weren’t dead but…
‘Being in Thoma’s arms is worse.’
His face said the same, so he dropped you and instead held Ayaka in his arms. You watched as his face morphed into one of worry and compassion, “Princess- are you alright?”
“I was the one who caught her!” You blurted from your position on the ground, stumbling up to stand.
“And I caught both of you,” he corrected, flashing her a grin before giving you a look of distaste. “By accident, it was by pure luck that you happened to be holding onto her.”
You flashed him the middle finger, “Well your jobs done, saved the day, now fuck off.”
“‘You’ fuck off.”
“You have no reason to be here.”
“And leave Ayaka with an incapable fool? How did you slip out of a ‘window?’”
“Water you dumbass, now let go of her before I beat the shit out of you-“
“Ha- I’d like to see you try.”
Meanwhile, Ayaka rest cradled against Thoma’s chest, a look that your bickering was getting to her, and that she was seriously getting ticked off.
“Can you both just ‘shut up?’”
Scaramouche
Everything was ‘burning.’
Scarlet flames licking the wooden planks, crackling as splintered logs came crashing down and silenced by the background screams. Chaos strewn from side to side, a contrast from the normal pace of your footsteps, the calm collected look on your face.
“That was fun,” you simply stated to the boy beside you, squeezing his hand. “We should do it again some other time.”
He squeezed your hand back, a gesture far beyond him. However, he didnt reply, just walking alongside you with your hands interlocked and casually walking away from the crime scene.
Side note - you could really tell I got hit by writers block on the last one ;-;

Ticklish Chaos
Anon Request :  Request for a ticklish reader who tries to hide it but it gets discovered by their s/o (venti,Xingqiu,Hu Tao,yoimiya and Ayaka)
Fluff - ☁️
Warnings : None.
Authors Note : First request! Thank you anon for this request!
Tumblr media
- This twink. Don’t tell me he would abuse your tickle spot.
- When he first found out you were ticklish, he had the most devilish smirk on his face. (You’re screwed)
- He can and he will use your tickle spot whenever he can. Strolling around the city square? Tickles. Talking to someone? You’ll just have to hold your giggles in.  About to fall asleep? Can’t let that happen!
- But, he will respect your boundaries. If you get annoyed but his antics, he will stop. For now. Expect them again in a few days.
- Basically, if you see a mischievous smirk on his face. Run in the opposite direction as fast as you can.
Tumblr media
- This twink #2. Same as Venti.
- Just like Venti, he will use this to his full advantage for antics. The dude pranks Chongyun with chilis 24/7, what do you expect?
- Lets say you both are sitting beneath a tree, and Xingqiu is “reading”. Just before you fall asleep, he attacks your tickle spot with absolutely no mercy, leaving you with giggles and unholy laughs.
- I don’t think he will stop anytime soon, but he will make sure to give you breaks from tickles. He knows you have work, and you have to focus on them.
- Basically, he’s the devil, and you and Chongyun are part of the “Bullied by Xingqiu” Club.
Tumblr media
- This twink #3. They won’t stop coming will they?
- First you have her constant scares, then you have tickles? Oh boy are you in for a ride. Now you have jumpscares + tickles.
-  She’ll sneak up behind you, yell “TICKLE TIME!”, and then just tickle the life outta you. Archons help your poor soul.
- Apparently she dosen’t know the definition of stop cause she. Never. STOPS.
- Archons help your poor soul from this tragic fate.
Tumblr media
- Unlike the twinks, she knows how to control herself.
- She does tickle you a lot, but she does it when the moment is bright and sweet.
- Had a bad day? She will tickle the sadness out of you. Made a special batch of fireworks with her? Tickles for your rewards! Busy reading a book and won’t give her attention? Your tickle spot looks real tempting right now.
- (totally no Yoimiya favoritism here, nope. Not at all)
- Mischievous yet a sweetheart. (I wish the twinks were like this-)
Tumblr media
- Sweet, precious, anxious sweetheart. Pls protect her at all cost.
- She probably found out your tickle spot on accident, and when she did, she apologized profusely saying she invaded your personal space. (AYAKA SWEETIE NO-)
- She is very reluctant to use your tickle spot on you. She isn’t very good with people, so please tell her that its okay. She needs reassuring 🥺🥺🥺🥺
- When she DOES use your tickle spot, she has the brightest smile and this spark of happiness in her eyes that lights up a whole room.
- Please protect this pretty ice princess. Please.

You get drunk and lost.
You go out with some friends drinking, get plastered and somehow you've broke away from your group. after walking around the city you have moment of clarity you text you boyfriend, "Halph! me loss...!!" before he can respond you accidently put it on silent, and he freaks and nearly tears the streets upside down looking for you, only to get a call at the ass crack of dawn by random person saying they've found you...
Warnings : alcohol use, Smoking, theft and mature situations.
------------------
Dabi: He thought it was joke at first, sure his girl likes to let loose from time to time, But she never irresponsible about it! So, when he got that text he thought you were screwing with him, He texted you [Aww what'd ya lose Doll?] you didn't text him back... He thought she just put her phone away, as time passed by soon Dabi got worried, he checked his phone; the time you'd said you be home had long passed.
He called you and kept getting the busy signal. "Tch" without missing a beat he got his hoodie, face-cover and sunglasses on and went out to the bar that you said you'd be at just in time to see your friends drunkenly stagger out of the bar giggling like a bunch of hens. "Hey." He called out to them one them... Ayaka? If that's what her name was? Dabi wasn't really paying attention when you showed him her picture.
he was to busy fantasizing you in that tight little dress bent over couch while he rails you from behind…
Anyway, back to the present.
Aya was dazed but seemed to recognize him. "ohz! Y/n's s-shy man! how ya doing bro?" the cremator stayed close to the alley shushed the drunk woman gesturing for her to come closer. "I'm fine, where's Y/n? She still inside?" he said in low voice nodded towards the bar, Aya gave him this blank look and Dabi didn't like how loud this silence was.... "Y/n? s-she said- said she was gonna go for a walk..." Dabi eyes narrowed resisting the urge to turn this drunk putz into a pile of ashes. "Aya focus, where did Y/n say she was going?" He said slowly trying to get the drunk woman to remember, this seemed to help as her eyes widened in realization, but that hope was soon dashed as she chortled out. "Your mamma's butt! hehe..." and broke down laughing.
Dabi growled annoyed before shoving her back over to the group drunk girls waiting for their taxi, for the rest of the night Dabi spent his time looking through every alley, back road and crappy neighborhood, he could think of, But there was no sign of you anywhere! at around 5 am He sat on bench dejected and took his phone out; looked through his contact before stopping at 'Chicken-wings' he glared at the named with a lot of confliction, But before he could press call...
His nickname for You suddenly lights up his screen Dabi answered without hesitation. "Y/n?... where the hell are you?" He hissed feeling both relieved and pissed off at the same time, however the voice that answered him wasn't girlfriend but that of a man. "Who the hell is this... where's Y/n? if you touched her I'll-" Dabi snarled flames bursting from his chin, but the person on the other end told him to calm down and explained, he lived a few blocks away from where Dabi was.
The cremator wasted no time getting there, he knocked on the door and was greeted by an old man who looked like a breeze would knock him over, The old man confirmed Dabi was the on he called, then apologized for scaring the young man, explained he found you passed out on his patio and didn't want leave you alone outside. "I have no bloody clue how these new-fangled phones work, had to wake my 8 year old grandson to help me." he explained as he led an awkward Dabi to his living room.
"I should be one who's sorry, for the trouble my girls caused you." the raven haired man sighed seeing his girlfriend passed out on the old man's couch, The old man just waved him off. "It's fine boy, we were all young once!" Dabi thanked him again carefully collected his girlfriend and carried her back to one of his safe houses that was nearby, Needless to say aside from nursing a gnarly hangover, You also had to deal with an very Angry, horny and tired Dabi who wasn't you out his sight anytime soon.
---------------------------------------------------
Hawks: [you lost? lost what? darts?] You don't answer him. [Angel wings? you there???] he didn't wait and see if you'd reply as Endeavor was giving him this look that screamed 'put that phone away, or else I'll launch it so far up you ass you're kids will born screaming your ringtone!' the avian man smiled coyly and put his phone away and waited for the meeting to be over, the meeting and late night patrol finally wrapped up at 3:30 am and Hawks walked outside recalling the conversation he had with you and checked his phone, Keigo felt his heart sink you hadn't answered him, He flew over to the bar while at the same time calling you phone, but all he got was voicemail...
When he got there he saw all your girl friends had gone home and only one of your guy friends was there, Akito if the blond remembered correctly. "Yo Akito-san." He called as he lowered down the ground, the drunk man looked around startled be for noticing Hawks above. "Sky-guy my dude! how ya doing?" he slurred at the number two hero, who stared at him crossed armed as he observed the inebriated man, very unimpressed.
"Nothing much, was Y/n okay?"
"w-who wha?"
"Y/n, Akito did she get home alright?"
"Oh she went to the subway."
Hawks brows scrunched up in confusion, it was passed midnight the trains weren't running right now! So, where the fuck was his girlfriend?! "Akito, I want you to listen where did Y/n go?" Again the drunk said the Subway, making it very clear he wasn't gonna be any help, Hawks flew up into the sky and sent some of his feathers out to search for his missing girlfriend and focused to see if that one he snuck in to her purse was near by.... "Come Y/n, where are ya baby?" he muttered as he eyes scanned the from above, when he felt a tug from one his feathers and almost on cue his phone light up with your ringtone.
"Y/n? where are you? are you safe?!" He asked frantically and waited but the voice coming from other end wasn't his girlfriend's but older woman's voice. "Is this Kei-Chan?" the winged hero eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Who are you?" the woman voice cleared her throat. "I'm sorry, I'm Anko, I found this girl in front of the shop is her your friend?" Hawks confirmed this expecting this stranger to be a villain holding you hostage and told her to stay where she was.
Instead when he got to his girlfriend's location; A Subway sandwich shop. *Ah...The subway, Hardee har-har...* He mentally deadpanned before looking down at the front and saw his girlfriend passed out on a bench with a tattered old blanket draped over her, while a little old lady in worn out clothes was standing next to a shopping cart. It didn't take a genius to see the old woman was homeless this seemed to strike a cord with the number 2 hero.
Hawk silently landed "Excuse me." he called caused the old woman he assumed was Anko to jump by the sudden voice and saw Hawks walking towards. "Yes?" the woman answered warily. Hawks introduced himself as Kei-chan the man she spoke to, he asked how she stumbled on to his girlfriend? Anko adjusted her her old jacket said she saw her going into the with a group of girls, they left in a taxi without her!
The winged hero looked furious upon hearing this, you had mentioned your friends were a little peeved that the two of you were dating... But to abandon you in a seedy part of town while intoxicated? that was over the line, had Anko not found you first then.... Hawk's jaw tightened not wanting to think about it as the old woman tale continued. You stubbled out a few moments, and passed out on the bench out front.
"I think those girl stole her jacket and shoes, I didn't want the poor dear getting cold, so I put my blanket on her and called you." She handed Keigo your purse a used his feathers to hold it while he gathered you in his arms he thanked Anko for guarding you. He promised to return the her kindness but the old woman said it was fine, but Hawks was already coming up with a few idea as he flew back to his apartment.
The next morning you were alone and confused how you got to Keigo's apartment wondered in your friend had called him, and went check your phone to check your messages, and were very bewildered over why your "Friends" were all apologizing, begging Hawks to call off his fanclub! You were flabbergasted about the situation, until Akito left you a screenshot of their original plan; they were going to make you and Akito drunkenly hook up and ruin your relationship with Keigo!
Of course they didn't know that Akito was in fact gay, so when they figured that out they just left you alone in front of sub-shop at 3am with no way of getting back home, you were pissed off that's for sure! and blocked them save for Akito as he had nothing to do with their plan.
Then you checked the newsfeeds and saw Hawks was trending curious you checked to see why, and saw Keigo delivering a box containing a new jacket, shoes, blankets and food to a stunned homeless woman with a note saying to "my girlfriend's hero! forever grateful Hawks!" Okay... Now Keigo really needs to tell you what happened last night!
----------------------------------------------------
Fatgum: [Aw it's all right Teddy Graham, ya can't win them all!] Fatgum chuckled assuming you lost at darts or pool while having fun with your friends, however as the night wore on and patrol came to an end, Taishiro was getting concerned, You hadn't texted him back nor had you called him to tell him she got home alright, just that "Halph...me loss!" text! The BMI hero was loosing his appetite with worry as he wandered down the street looking for the bar you were supposed be at, only to find out from your very drunk friends who was shuffling into in a taxi van.
He stopped one of them asking where you were, did you home with one of the girls? but to his dread they said you went for walk somewhere, Taishiro tried to coax them into remembering where you said were you going? But at this point your friend was too far gone to answer coherently, and with that the blond man took off down the street, hoping to find a trace of his lil'Teddy Graham!
He searched for hours even showing civilians a photo of you asking if they've seen ya? the answers were always no... it was almost 3 am he was considering calling the cops to help look for ya... as he leaned against a wall to take break, when he heard your ringtone on his phone, Taishiro's hand was shaking as he answered the phone as this nasally voice greeted him
"H-hello, Sir? assuming you're a sir! uh... we found this lady passed out in one of our aisles, could you come and get her, before my manager calls the cops?"
"Wh-where is she?"
"The 7/11 at (random block)."
"Yeah, I'll be right there!"
The chubby hero ran down the street so fast he hadn't noticed his fat was burning off so when he finally arrived at the 7/11 his clothes were baggy and hanging of his body. "Hey, I'm Taishiro, you called me about my girlfriend?" The now skinny hero wheezed catching his breath as the snotty manager turned around to mouth off at Taishiro only to blanch when they realized how much taller and muscular the blond was compared to him and his demeanor quickly changed.
"Y-yes, sir right this way" the balding man stammered leading the 8ft tall man to the back room where a female staff member was watching you, Taishiro let out a sigh of relief and picked you up like a toddler; with your arms around his neck and your head rested on his shoulder, as he was leaving his yellow eyes noticed a backpack stuffed with snacks and other stuff hidden under the manager's desk, he hummed not thinking anything of it and went to thank clerk for watching you as the manager had gone out for a smoke break, Since he was there anyway Taishiro asked for a couple meatbuns for the road.
"Thanks, for lookin after m'girl."
"It was no problem sir.'
"By the way I saw a backpack, back there, wha's that about?"
(the clerk went white, made sure her manager was still outside, assuming that she'd be too afraid to tell the tall man about his scheme.)
"That lazy bully of a manager has been stealing snacks and other crap from the store, He was going to try and say your girlfriend did it, and scare you into paying him not to call the cops."
Taishiro's hold tightened on your thigh. "I'm guessing he chickened out, because... Well you look like you could crack his head open like an egg!" the blond snorted as he payed for his food "And you'd be right about that!" Taishiro huffed, he then thanked the clerk for her honesty and shot the manager a venomous glare as passed him outside, later that night Taishiro reported what clerk had told him to store's head office, and vowed to return as Fatgum just to make sure the balding thief was gone!
The next morning you were very confused as to how you’d gotten to your boyfriend’s apartment? you sat up only to get pulled back down an exhausted Taishiro who muttered for you to go back to sleep, he'll tell you everything later.

Kizuna novel ch.3-4 notes
Ch. 3:
- Back in chapter 2, when Yamato asks the 02 group to investigate Menoa, Ken mentions that he's heard of her, and he specifically says that he knows she's a prodigy who skipped grades to get into college early and has a doctorate and some patents. I didn't think of it until I realized that she's actually close in age to the Adventure kids, but the part about skipping grades reminded me of this:
Tumblr media
I wonder if maybe Ken first heard about Menoa because people insisted on comparing him to her back when he was the Kaiser?
- Menoa wasn't blocked from entering the Digital World, so presumably anyone with the tech to open a gate can go there, regardless of whether they have a Digimon partner or not. Which means that partner Digimon do cease to exist in both worlds when their bond disappears, because otherwise, she'd be able to reunite with Morphomon.
- I know it's supposed to be a serious scene, but it's almost comedic when Taichi and Yamato brag about having the edge in numbers and experience as Greymon and Garurumon finish off Eosmon, only for Menoa to casually snap her fingers and summon an entire swarm.
- Menoa indirectly explains the origin of Eosmon's name. She spent years trying to bring Morphomon back, but failed trying to bring the data to life. Then on the day the mysterious aurora appeared three months ago, she was suddenly able to create Eosmon, who was presumably named after the aurora. (I'm kind of surprised that the book doesn't point out that Eos and Aurora were equivalent Greek and Roman goddesses. I guess they assumed that people already know that?)
- If Menoa only made Eosmon three months ago, why has Imura been investigating her for years? It's never hinted that she did anything illegal or even unethical before that point, unless people have a problem with her trying to create a Digimon.
- Sora is the only one of the original Adventure kids missing from Menoa's neverland. Even without Koushirou's list, Menoa knows who all of them are, so I guess it must have already been too late by the time Menoa tried to send an Eosmon?
- If Menoa and Eosmon can't reunite people with Digimon partners who have already been lost (or at least illusions of them), then this scene confirms that Meicoomon did come back to life at some point.
- Menoa insists over and over that all the Chosen are there of their own free will, no mental influence involved, but the fact that they all turn silent and emotionless with glowing red eyes makes that a little bit difficult to believe.
Ch. 4:
- Eosmon start popping out of internet-connected devices all over the world and attacking Chosen. Despite Hawkmon warning that it's probably a bad idea, Miyako uses her laptop to try to find information on what's happening in the confusion, and of course, she only ends up letting another one through.
- Yamato must have given them a partial explanation at some point, since Daisuke knows enough to guess that the Digimon they're fighting are Eosmon. Likewise, Iori worries that the chaos means that something has happened to Yamato and the others, but they're too busy fighting off Eosmon to do anything to help.
- The entire 02 team seems to be calling Yamato "Yamato-senpai" now, or at least Daisuke, Ken, and Iori all do. (I don't think Miyako ever says his name, so I'm not sure about her.)
- Taichi and Yamato are hiding, uncertain of what to do. After some encouragement from Gabumon and Agumon (who says he gets the feeling that they'll be with Taichi and Yamato forever), the two of them resolve to fight. Taichi, who had been wearing his old goggles around his neck, finally puts them up on his head and says "We'll show them the bonds we have. Let's do this!"
- The kids with Menoa are back to playing with their Digimon, and still acting extremely creepy: The children gazed at Menoa with eyes filled with adoration. Perhaps she seemed like a goddess or Madonna to them.
- Daisuke and Ken don't evolve Paildramon or Imperialdramon even though the 02 team is having a rough time fending off all the Eosmon. I guess Yamato must have warned them to avoid unnecessary evolutions, even if he didn't say why? They're much too upbeat to have been confronted with the full truth.
- This just occurred to me... The Eosmon aren't invisible, so back in chapter 1, how did one of them steal Ayaka's consciousness in the middle of a restaurant without being seen?
- After Eosmon defeats Omegamon, the other Adventure kids restrain Taichi and Yamato to keep them from running to Agumon and Gabumon (Hikari and Koushirou for Taichi, and Takeru, Mimi, and Jou for Yamato), and then their partners start attacking the two.
- As soon as they come to their senses, Hikari and the others return to their present-day appearances. Koushirou is fascinated by the evolved Eosmon, and Tentomon has to exasperatedly remind him that he really doesn't have time to stand around lost in thought.
- Menoa lost her partner when she got into college... because she wanted to be self-sufficient? It looks like they're trying to portray partner Digimon as existing solely for the kids' personal growth, and that's why they disappear when the kids are sufficiently mature? I'm not a fan of the idea. (Just to be completely clear, the the scenes of the Digimon disappearing strongly gave me this impression, but it isn’t explicitly stated anywhere. So it’s entirely possible that this isn’t what the creators intended.)
- I mean, I don’t think that the sudden and traumatic loss of one of your closest loved ones is a good metaphor for the struggles of becoming an adult.
- I'm also not fond of the way it reduces the Digimon to literal props for the kids, in-universe, even if the original anime never did a particularly good job of treating them as individuals.
- "Menoa! I'll save you!" Taichi yelled. Yamato shouted, "Your choice wasn't a mistake!" "But even if a choice leads to something happening..." "We have to live in the future we chose!" (This dialogue would work better for me if the kids had any meaningful choice in the first place. Menoa was going to lose Morphomon before long, no matter what she did.)
- "We may not be able to change fate*..." "But we can change our destiny**!" * 宿命 = absolute, unchangeable fate ** 運命 = destiny/fate in general (Why are they so sure that losing their Digimon is the latter and not the former? What makes Taichi and Yamato’s refusal to accept the loss of their partners optimism, while Menoa’s is just denial?)
- Sorry if this has been a little too negative! I do like Kizuna overall, especially for the character interaction. I’m just disappointed in this particular element of the plot.
- I’ve now finished the book, and they never do explain the aurora that allowed Eosmon to come to life. I wonder if it’ll be brought up again if there’s a sequel?
- I can’t think of anything else I want to comment on right now, so just in case anyone reading this hasn’t seen it yet, I’ll link to Onkei’s summary again:
https://pastebin.com/hqVwmAaS
It’s much more comprehensive than my notes here (especially since I tried to focus on things that weren’t already covered there), so if you haven’t already, go read it!
- Also, I’ll be glad to answer any questions about the story (if I can), so if there’s anything you’re curious about, please feel free to ask!

Short Reflection: Kara no Kyoukai 6 (Oblivion Recording)
Well, folks, we finally found it. We finally found the first Kara no Kyoukai movie that flat-out sucks. Sure, movie 3′s treatment of the subject of rape was gag-inducing, but at least it had a strong ending to tie it all together and make it feel like it wasn’t a complete wash. No such saving grace is to be found in Oblivion Recording. This is the worst written, worst directed, worst conceived chapter in the entire franchise, lacking any of the strengths that made its predecessors so compelling. The best thing I can say about it is that it’s an entirely superfluous epilogue chapter, taking place after the story’s main events and focusing on mostly new characters and situations without connecting too deeply to what’s come before. So unless the final few films somehow make it critically important, it can safely be skipped without missing anything of value. And I suggest you do so, because there’s nothing in Oblivion Recording worth suffering through it for.
The story picks up in 1999, a year after the huge showdown in the last film with the characters all seemingly in much better places by now. Shiki and Mikiya are even sort-of-maybe an item at last! But this movie isn’t about them; it’s about Mikiya’s sister Ayaka, who we caught scarce glimpses of in past entries. Up until now, we’ve learned pretty much nothing about her, so this movie intends to serve as her big spotlight moment. She’s the driving force of the narrative, she’s the one with the vast majority of screen time, she’s the character whose conflicts take most prominence in the themes. For all intents and purposes, Oblivion Note is one big “Welcome to the Cast, Ayaka” party. So, how does Kara no Kyoukai go about introducing this new character to its fold and getting us invested in her struggles?
Well, pretty much the first thing we learn about her is that she has a crush on her older brother.
And it’s all downhill from there.
Yeah, if this is supposed to be Ayaka’s big splashy introduction, it completely falls flat on its face, because Ayaka sucks. Even putting aside the gag-inducing imouto complex, she’s completely unpleasant to be around. She’s whiny, she’s annoying, she’s immature in all the most frustrating ways, and she delivers pretty much every other line in a cringe-worthy arrogant haughtiness. And there’s no way I could possibly connect to her emotional struggles, because again, her conflict revolves around being in love with her brother. Good luck getting me invested in that. And because she takes up so much focus, this black hole of charisma ends up swallowing the entire film. Shiki’s technically her partner as they investigate some faerie-related shenanigans going on at Ayaka’s academy, but she barely has anything to do other than look stern and kick some ass. Mikiya, who you think would be a super-important character thanks to his connection with Ayaka, barely shows up at all. The entire film has to ride on Ayaka’s shoulders, and she could not be worse-equipped to carry that weight. Call me back when Nasu learns how to write this character well with Rin Tohsaka.
But even putting how much Ayaka sucks aside, the rest of the film is just flat-out broken around her. The plot is a complete and utter mess, poorly structured and embarrassingly half-assed. New characters are introduced out of nowhere and made important before you even get the slightest opportunity to know them. Plot turns are rushed and crowbarred into place. Scene transitions are sloppy and awkward; often times, the previous scene won’t even really end, just awkwardly sloughing into an entirely disconnected moment. Information is relayed to the characters but not to the audience, which you think would be an excuse to keep their eventual plan a surprise until they successfully execute it, but then they just go ahead and execute it right after, so there was no reason to delay that information in the first place. There are two separate characters who show up for unnatural introduction scenes that scream “I’m important, pay attention to me,” and then we find out they’re evil the very next time we see them without learning a single other thing about them. And the actual mystery is so poorly explained that I’m still not entirely sure what happened. Ayaka just yells all the answers out in the climax, but we never find out where she got the answers, and the answers themselves are so confusing they almost seem to contradict each other, but there’s no time given to actually slow down and explore what’s going on because then we just jump straight into the dumb action climax. I don’t know who’s responsible for how this script turned out, but they should be ashamed of themselves.
Oblivion Note is an utter wash. It trades the compelling character of Shiki to focus on an aggravating snotrag, its mechanics are confusing and borderline nonsensical, and it suffers from some of the most awkward story construction I’ve seen in a while. It doesn’t even look that good half the time; compared to how fantastic the direction was in movie 5, so many shots here are just lazy and stilted. Having never read the source material, even I can tell how awful an adaptation this is. If you’re planning to watch this series yourself, feel free to skip movie 6; trust me, you’re not mussing anything of value. And I give it a score of:
3/10
Now we shall cast it into the fire and never speak of it again. Next up? The final film of the original series... and the rest of Shiki’s backstory will be revealed. See you then!

My Yuri/wlw Manga Rec List
Heeeey I’m bored so I’m making a Yuri manga/webtoon/etc recommendation post of some of my faves that are underappreciated or deserve more love. Obviously this isn’t a comprehensive of all great Yuri series out there, just some that I enjoy & think are worth reading... And have (obviously) either read or are caught up on.
All of these are available to read as online scans, but I’ll indicate if you can legally purchase it in English as well.   I’ll also indicate if they are on-going as of April 2019.
There’s a lack of yuri series that aren’t set in a high school but I’m going start with all of those first, just to get them out of the way, but this list will mostly be dedicated to college and older aged characters.
Additionally, my recommendation of these series is not my personal endorsement of everything about the series. Don’t expect any of these stories to be perfect by any standards, much less Western standards.  Additionally, I try to give warnings for some series with dark themes: that is not me giving the series a condemnation.  Just a heads up for common triggers, that I caught and remembered to warn for.
A Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow (Nettaigyo wa Yuki ni Kogareru) by Makoto Hagino
Tumblr media
Summary:
Konatsu Amano is a high school girl who has just moved to a seaside town in Ehime Prefecture after her father is transferred overseas for his job. Lonely and unsure of her new surroundings, Konatsu finds herself gravitating towards Koyuki Honami, an older girl at her school who is popular but is seen as out of reach by her peers who view her as too perfect. Koyuki is also the sole member of the Aquarium Club, which in turn makes her feel cut off from others. In an attempt to help ease Koyuki's and her own feelings of loneliness, Konatsu befriends Koyuki and the two gradually grow closer together.
Why I think you should read it:  This is SUCH a sweet but impactful series.  At a surface level read, it’s a beautiful and enjoyable series that I’m interested in seeing where these girls’ relationship goes, but a deeper look at the series really shows the amount of thought that went into the characters and their surroundings.  Honestly [this] YT video by Zeria is why I finally started this series and covers why this is such a good worthwhile series much better than I can so I recommend watching it, if not jumping straight to reading!
Status: On-going, first English volume will be released in late 2019!!
Their Story (Tamen de Gushi) by Tan Jiu
Tumblr media
Summary:
Tamen De Gushi manga is a slice of life manga that revolves around two high-school protagonists, Sun Jing and Qiu Tang, and how they meet and fall in love and start dating.
Why I think you should read it:  If you’ve been on tumblr long enough and follow enough queer fandom blogs you’ve probably heard of this series.  Everything you’ve seen about it is true: it’s sweet, cute, funny, and fluffy.  It also covers topics like victim blaming without derailing from something you’re reading to distract you from reality.
Status:  This one is a webtoon and currently on-going.
Pietà by Haruno Nanae
Tumblr media
Summary:
A story about two classmates, Sahoko and Rio. Rio is depressed and self-harms due to lack of loving relationships with her "family" -- which consists of her negligent father, selfish stepmother, and stepbrother; and Sahoko quickly becomes her only comfort in life. Sahoko on her part has a frigid relationship with her otherwise loving parents, and lives with her aunt.
Why I think you should read it:  Prior to meeting, these girls dealt with mental illness and that’s what bonds them very quickly as they come to rely on each other.  I debated whether or not this series should be with the school-girl series or the adult ones, I decided to keep it with the school-girls because... they’re high school girls! Even though the girls’ school is really only ever the place they first meet, it’s the fact they are high school girls that colors their perspectives for the best and worst.
But the reason I think it is worth reason it is that it portrays depression, self-harm, and suicide the way you think about it as a depressed high schooler but it is narratively treated with the seriousness it deserves, and to be responded to with love and compassion.  While we’ve got Rio’s parents who don’t take her mental illness seriously and compassionately enough (or at all), but there other adults who do from the very beginning.  It’s 1 volume long and despite all the trigger warnings I am about to give for the series: I promise a happy ending.
*Warings* Self-harm, suicide attempt, forced institutionalization, parental abuse, gaslighting
Status:  Completed, not officially in English but completed online scans are available.
Kase-san by  Hiromi Takashima
Tumblr media
Summary:
Yui Yamada, a girl who enjoys tending to her school's greenery, falls in love with the athletic Tomoka Kase. The two eventually begin dating, and the story follows the pair as they face various challenges in their relationship
Why I think you should read it:  Another one I see on tumblr a lot and, again, it’s everything you’ve been promised: cute, fun, and a natural progressing romance.  What I think is worthwhile about the series is that it’s continued into their college years, but that hasn’t automatically made them adults. They continue to deal with the same insecurities they did in high school, but even still they’ve been maturing since the start of the series and they continue to do so.
This series is unlikely to ever delve into darker or political themes, but we need series like this - where problems don’t linger but are resolved relatively quickly without losing the character’s defining traits and flaws.
Status:  Ongoing and available to buy in English.  Also has an OVA.
Ano Musume ni Kiss to Shirayuri o (Kiss and White Lily for my Dearest Girl) by Canno
Tumblr media
Summary:
In middle school, Ayaka Shiramine was the perfect student: hard-working, with excellent grades and a great personality to match. As Ayaka enters high school she expects to still be on top, but one thing she didn't account for is her new classmate, the lazy yet genuine genius Yurine Kurosawa.
Why I think you should read it:  A rivals-to-lovers story, for all my rivals-to-lovers lovers out there! <3 While Shiramine and Kurosawa are definitely the protagonists of the story, roughly only 40% of the time are chapters focus on them and their relationship, as the series spends a lot of time on their many, many side characters and relationships... which are all wlw too.  Lots of different relationships explored in the side characters, including a triad that forms together wonderfully.
A part of the series that particularly tickled me was that male characters are barely ever mentioned, if ever.  It’s entirely possible that that men do not exist in this world.
*Warning*  One romance between a student and her aunt (though the aunt is only 4 years older).  The two chapters depicting their relationship are skipable and even then it’s vague enough that you can interpret it as a family relationship imo.
Status:  Completed and available officially in English.
Bloom Into You (Yagate Kimi Ni Naru) by Nakatani Nio
Tumblr media
Summary:
Yuu has always loved shoujo manga and awaits the day she gets a love confession that sends her heart aflutter with bubbles and blushes, and yet when a junior high classmate confesses his feelings to her...she feels nothing. Disappointed and confused, Yuu enters high school still unsure how to respond. That's when Yuu sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity that she's inspired to ask her for help. But then the next person to confess to Yuu is Nanami herself.
Why I think you should read it:  What, did you really think it wouldn’t make my list (lol)?  Of course everyone should give this series a try!  I’ve been following this series for a while so I’m glad to see it blow up in popularity recently because of the anime because it really deserves it.  This series is very far from your typical straight-forward cute high school yuri romance, it’s an awkward fumbling as the girls have their first relationship and all that comes with that - including learning consent and boundaries -  in a very unusual set-up (that I’ll let you read to discover).
Additionally, an adult relationship between two women is also portrayed, proving the usual “lesbianism is transient” is many school-girl manga wrong, but the adults tend to mentor Nanami’s also gay friend more than Yuu and Nanami (who could frankly use some adult guidance, since they can’t seek out their parents).
Yuu reads as very aro-spec too, if that resonates with you, and I (personally) don’t think that anything in her relationship with Nanami negates those feelings.
Status:  Currently ongoing and available in English.  Anime which covers the first half of the series.
Nameless Asterism (Nanashi no Asterism) by  Kobayashi Kina
Tumblr media
Summary:
Tsukasa, Nadeshiko, and Mikage have been inseparable since they began junior high, but Tsukasa has a secret she's been keeping from her best friends—she actually has a big crush on Nadeshiko. Not wanting to risk their friendship, she planned to keep it a secret forever, but when Tsukasa learns that Nadeshiko has a crush on Mikage, her desire to support her friends now conflicts with her own feelings. First love blossoms in unexpected ways for these three young women and their circle of friends.
Why I think you should read it:  This one is actually a junior high school one, but I’ll stick it here regardless.  But it’s a fun series, and for a love-triangle story it’s not over-wrought at all.  More than a series about love, it’s about the concept of romantic relationships at the characters’ age as well as friendship. One of the character’s in particular thinks her feelings are transient, but it’s also rather clear that they are not and she’s just scared after a bad past experience. Despite being in a love triangle that not all of them are completely aware they are in, it’s also very clear they want to keep being friends and fear losing their friendship more than anything else.
It ends prematurely so some things are left unresolved but still a fun read and I still give it a huge rec.  YMMV on the handling of one cross dressing character, especially as he takes over the story for a bit, but it’s far from the worst handling but. ya know.  Heads up, he exists.
Status:  Completed, not officially in English but completed online scans are available.
Aaaaaand that’s about it with the light-hearted (mostly) school romances.
On to college-age and working adult yuri series which don’t get nearly enough love!
It’d be great if you didn’t exist by Carbonara
Tumblr media
Summary:
Why did she meet her ideal girl in the worst situation?
After catching her boyfriend with another woman, Han Guk-hwa promptly breaks up with him and expects to never see him again. What she didn't expect was to keep thinking about the woman who was with her ex and develop a begrudging crush on her.
Jang Mi, the crush in question, also didn't expect to see such a beautiful girl approach her and finds herself thinking that she could do so much better than the scumbag Guk-hwa was dating.
Why I think you should read it:   There’s.... a lot of reasons I could give you about why this series is worth reading.  It’s a wonderful balance between funny and a soft, tender romance between two women, even while dealing occasionally with darker themes and topics.  The characters are both well fleshed out with flaws and a rationality to their actions.  More than that: for every bad experience they had in the past which gives them insecurities about themselves and others, they are rewarded for trusting each other with a happy, loving relationship.  Inter-relationship problems (like insecurity) are resolved with communication, while their separate personal problems they share mutual support.
BUT ALSO, I mean... it’s pretty much like that text from last night that goes:  “ I just found out two girls I dated met each other, bonded over how much they hate me, started dating and are gonna get married soon.”  And I just.... really enjoy and appreciate it. Because it’s like: that’s it that’s the series.
*Warnings* Stalking, abuse, bullying
Status:  Another webcomic, completed at 80 chapters all available online in English
Cheerful Amnesia by  Tamamushi Oku
Tumblr media
Summary:
Arisa wakes up in the hospital, with no memory of the last three years. When Mari, a girl who's just Arisa's type, arrives at the hospital and informs her that not only are they living together, but they're actually in a relationship, Arisa is over the moon.
Why I think you should read it:  MC has amnesia, but as the title suggests, it’s light-hearted series.  Afterall, MC wakes up to discover she has a beautiful girlfriend!  What couldn’t be better in life?  Well, there are... like sex with your girlfriend.  Wait no, that’s way too good for Arisa to handle (lol). And it just gets better for Arisa as the story plays out.
Usually the amnesic lover trope is played for the drama, but here it is only played for laughs.  A little eye-roll-y regarding some aspects and maybe even down right stupid but still cute and a fun romp if you need mindless fun. It’s a 4-koma so it’s not particularly deep, but a fun exploration of the story’s premise.  Let’s be honest: all the jokes about sex probably won’t make you laugh and probably won’t even titillate you, but you’re not here for laughs you’re here for something cute and see an adult relationship between two women get to be fun, silly, and mindless.
Status:  On-going and not officially in English but completed online scans are available.
Ultramarine (Gunjou) by  Nakamura Ching
Tumblr media
Summary:
Out of desperation, a woman asks an old high school acquaintance to kill her abusive husband for her. The acquaintance, having long been in love with this woman, does it, and now they are on the run from the law.
Why I think you should read it:  I’m going to be honest.  This isn’t a series for everyone or even a series that most would like and that’s ok. The summary just covers the first few pages - everything devolves from there as they avoid the police and the stakes get higher - or rather, revealed to us as the readers.  Definitely not a series for a fun, quick read and I don’t rec it if you want an ideologically pure series - but the series mostly acknowledges the fucked up nature of everything going on.  If you’re interested in story where the main characters aren’t clear-cut “good” and “bad” and you don’t mind not rooting for the main characters’ romance, give it a try.  Because this is not a series about two women learning to be good to each other.
It’s a heart-wrenching read for those that read it and explores themes that aren’t often explored without being edgy for the sake of being edgy.  I think if you can stand to read this series in one sitting, you’ll be absolutely gutted and be thinking of this story for a while.  It’s a powerful read, awful in a very necessary way.
*Warnings* for rape, abuse, dub-con (between the main characters), lots of talk of suicide, infant death, death of a wlw (not main romance).
Status:  Completed, not officially in English but completed online scans are.
Lonely Wolf, Lonely Sheep by Fuka Mizutani
Tumblr media
Summary:
Two women with the same name happens to meet each other when they're at the same hospital for the same injury. They want to become closer, but both must overcome their insecurities and self-loathing first.
Why I rec it:  Ehehe.  If you follow me, then you probably know I’m half-way to being a NANA blog.... Well this has the basic premise of NANA, with two girls with the same name (in this case first AND last) meeting under similar circumstances.  It’s a short & sweet series, but not without a lump of angst mixed in, because despite their meet-cute they’ve still got a shared loneliness and fear of rejection to contend with.  Despite that: it’s not drowning in angst and unnecessary, drawn-out melodrama.
Status:  Completed, not officially in English but completed online scans are.
Fluttering Feelings by Ssamba
Tumblr media
Summary:
The comic follows the life of two Business University students, the average slightly immature Kim No-Rae and the beautifully captivating Baek Seol-A but equally immature, as well as their friends and family.
Why I think you should read it:  This series is a beautiful exploration of two women slowly falling in love - or rather, slowly realizing and accepting that they are in love with each other.  A lot of will they, won’t they story get stale very quickly but here the characters are so expertly explored that you understand why they aren’t kissing right now this second and it just makes you hope that one day they will and be happier.
Additionally, just because they aren’t dating doesn’t mean that they friendship doesn’t continually progress and flourish as they continue to get closer and more emotionally intimate with each other.  As their friendship gets closer, they struggle more and more to define their feelings for each other.
Unfortunately Ssamba passed away last year, before completing the series.  So the series will likely remain forever unfinished but I think this series is so great that it’s a worthwhile read even unfinished.  I think Fluttering Feelings maybe even is a series that especially proves that unfinished series are worth reading, because for me: the ending to a story is one of the most important parts... but not for this series.  This series is all about the journey and the journey until where it left off was worth it.
Status:  Unfinished Webcomic, available online in English
Ohana Holuholu by  Shino Torin
Tumblr media
Summary:
Maya, who works as a translator, lives with her bisexual former girlfriend, Michiru, and Michiru's son, Yuuta. Residing in the same apartment building is an actor called Nico, who drops by for a visit almost everyday, and knows about Michiru's past. Somewhat like family, and somewhat not, their lives interweave full of warm days.
Why I think you should read it:  This one is about family, at it’s core.  A found family, in particular.  I think for many like me, that’s enough of a recommendation (lol).  The rekindling of Maya and Michiru’s relationship is an important part to the story, but just as important is the fact that they have formed a family even before then.  Michiru isn’t always the best friend, roommate, lover, or even person and she definitely isn’t the best mother, but watching over her growth through the series to take responsibility for herself and for her family is incredibly rewarding.
Status:  Complete, still in the process of being translated online into English.
Collectors by Nishi Uko
Tumblr media
Summary:
Two women in a relationship disagree about the other’s spending habits.
Why I think you should read it:   Most of this list is comprised of series that are about before the relationship begins, but Collectors is here for everyone who desires a pre-established relationship!  It’s very sweet and very obvious how much the two women love each other.
This is the bickering couple done right - with love, especially after the initial few chapters, and it’s honestly just a form of flirting as the characters just as often find common-ground on their spending habits.
It’s primarily 4-koma style, so not much happens story-wise but it’s well worth it just for to see their day-to-day interactions, how much they enjoy spending time with each other, and their friend’s commentary about their relationship. Also, if you’re a collector or hobbiest that compulsively buys things related to your interests... be prepared to be called out!
Status:  I thiiiiink it’s on-going - definitely the English online translations haven’t caught up as far as I can find.
The Robot Next Door (Tonari no Robot) by Nishi Uko
Tumblr media
Summary:
In an ordinary neighborhood, a team of engineers are developing a robot they call Praha, who looks like an ordinary human high school girl. Chika, a 4-year-old girl who lives next door, meets her neighbor and learns her secret. The two girls become friends and high school classmates, and Chika teaches Hiro—as she calls Praha—about human emotions, including love.
Why I think you should read it:   Another story by Nishi Uko!!! There is a severe lack of sci-fi Yuri works!!  It’s a short and sweet feels trip as it explores the premise - a robot and human girl having feelings for each other.  While the bulk of the series takes place while both characters are in high school, I’m sticking it here with the “adult” series because it’s not about youth so much as it is about the premise.
Anyway: one of the interesting things about the series is how Praha expresses her love for Chika, which is obviously different than how humans feel ”love” because she’s a robot.  Meanwhile, Chika pines for Praha in her youth but insists that Praha’s feelings aren’t love.  She thinks their feelings for each other are “different,” which is both true and untrue.  As it is thought, robot/human love stories are often bittersweet because the premise predicates that the human will age while the robot will not.  Honestly, the ending is not bitter in the least, but it’s something that looms over you as you, the human reader, know as inevitable future.

Poor Poor Lips by Gotou Hayako
Tumblr media
Summary:
Okashi Nako is a young woman living in poverty. When she applies to work at a Gem store, she learns that store owner, Otsuka Ren, is a lesbian. Ren promises that Nako's not her type, but she may be lying.... Nako takes the job and so begins a comedic tale of rich and poor, sickness and health, for better and for worse!
Why I think you should read it:  It’s a boss/employee romance but tastefully done imo - it’s been a while since I read it but I remember it fondly. It’s primarily set-up as a comedic series (another 4-koma!) but by the end the ladies *are* explicitly in a relationship, after some “will they/won’t they.”
Status:  Completed, not officially in English but completed online scans are.
Octave by Akiyama Haru
Tumblr media
Summary:
This story revolves around 18-year-old Miyashita Yukino and her life as a former idol. As a child, Yukino had always been fascinated with TV. And before she knew it, she wanted to be one of those idols behind the screen. At 15, she entered the entertainment industry and debuted as a member of the four-person group "She'sN." However the group wasn't very successful and they broke up shortly afterwards. Returning home in disgrace, Yukino was welcomed with people's curious looks and hurtful words. Wanting to find herself, regain her pride, and perhaps experience love, Yukino decides to move back to Tokyo. There she meets a certain woman, former composer Iwai Setsuko. Together they embark on a very interesting and mysterious relationship.
Why I think you should read it:  Don’t be fooled by the simple, minimalist art... The characters are complex and each of them realistically flawed.  The series explores themes unfulfilled dreams and miscommunication and most of all: maturing into a decent person.  A lot of people are turned off of this series because the choices Yukino sometimes makes are, but it’s worth seeing her journey imo.
The series also deals with coming out not being an entirely positive experience and... it’s gutting but real and in the end says more about other people than Yukino.
Status:  Completed, not officially in English but completed online scans are.
And that’s it for now!! Let me know if you read any of these, whether or not on my recommendation or not!  Depending on if people liked this I might do another one, because I discovered a whole bunch of series while researching plus cut some from the list last minute that I still think deserve a rec!!

The Cycle of Life | Chiyuri + Ayaka | Chapter 3 | CLOSED
The day was most certainly an eventful one. So much had happened that Chiyuri just never expected. When she woke up, she didn’t know everyone would be given a new area to explore. She didn’t know that, during her exploration, she’d encounter Zun. And she definitely didn’t know that anything that went down during their conversation would happen. It all felt so surreal. Her heart was still pounding, even hours since.
Now alone, Chiyuri wandered around the new medical ward. The place interested her for various reasons. What equipment was available there? Were there any medications? Anything that could supplement treatment would be a great help in the situation the class found themselves in. But, at the same time, there were personal reasons surrounding her intrigue...
As expected, the room was spacious. Hauntingly so. It made the girl feel rather uncomfortable, but she persevered. Realistically speaking, nothing bad could come out of this. Though, a rollercoaster did just fly into another room earlier in the day... What else could this new area hold?
Chiyuri shook her head. No, no. It’d be fine. Focus. Okay. With her suitcase in hand as usual, she walked behind the counter, the sound of her soft footsteps following her as she did so. Not long into her investigation, she noticed a familiar shade of red out of the corner of her eye. She turned to the source, finding Ayaka.
Ayaka... The two got along well, but after that last trial, things might have gone sour. Ayaka did vote for her, after all. And she seemed particularly emotional about the loss of Nicole. Chiyuri felt guilty about it all, but outing Nicole was necessary if it meant that everyone else could live.
Hesitantly, the pink-haired girl smiled. Would Ayaka be open to conversation? There was only one way to find out.
Tumblr media
“Hi, Kimura-chan.” Chan? That was an upgrade from ‘san.’ After all this time spent in this place, Chiyuri felt a stronger bond with her classmates. Beyond that, though, she also wanted to test the waters with Ayaka. Attempt to get closer and make amends. “How are you doing? Can I help you with anything?”

Making friends can be a bit of a challenge. Even the most outgoing and willing person can get saddled with the wrong crowd when moving to a new place, if they aren’t careful. And the thing about Narumi is that he has a lot of difficulty turning down friendships. That’s probably why he got strong armed by Ayaka into joining the Gardening club, and then suddenly became an honorary member of a NEET gang and assistant to the illustrious NEET detective and also blood brother to not one but two fairly dangerous criminals, and he isn’t getting paid for working part time at the ramen shop, is he? And he’s trying to break up an insidious drug ring in his free time. Maybe Narumi should learn how to say no, but where’s the adventure in that?
I first heard someone mention Heaven’s Memo Pad in passing when discussing chuuni characters (although now that I have seen it, I really wouldn’t consider Yuuko chuuni at all) and it sort of stuck with me because of how odd the title is. It really doesn’t give away anything, does it? And there’s just something dissonant about pairing a grand notion like Heaven with something as plain and innocuous as a memo pad. What I’m saying is that I went in knowing nothing about the series except the title and that it potentially had a chuuni character, which I don’t think it did…
I know it starts off a bit rough but don’t worry, it gets better
Heaven’s memo pad is pretty enough to look at. Nothing special about the character designs but they are nice and a lot of them seemed to have been conceived with certain demographic, let’s call them preferences in mind. Basically archetypes of what is supposed of be attractive. Unfortunately the colour palette is rather dull and utterly unimaginative and the art is inconsistent. Those attractive character designs do suffer quite a bit in certain angles or if there’s too much movement going on.
And the movement itself can get a little jerky. There are shows where this isn’t much of an issue but in an action heavy feature, such as Heaven’s Memo Pad, where the narrative itself relies on the animation, it’s a bit more glaring.
The acting can border on over acting at times but I don’t think it’s the voice actors fault. Hear me out. The characters are often given very minimal motivation for what are some pretty drastic actions, so I think the actors were trying to cover that up by stating those motivations with as much passion as possible. The results are debatable.
but you drank an extra cup!
When watching Heaven’s Memo Pad, one thought kept creeping in, this is like a poor man’s Gosick. The character archetypes are the same, the design elements are similar, the settings are completely different but the premise is almost identical. Sure Yuuko doesn’t have a sorted family history like Victorique but then again, maybe she does. We never find out much about it.
And when I say “poor man’s” it’s not only that there is less subtlety and depth to the writing, that the characters really aren’t as developed and the plots aren’t as thought out (which is a shame because some of those cases are actually very interesting and would have made for some very good procedural) but there’s also an unmistakable feel of a production running up against it’s budget. Stories are rushed and narrative steps are skipped, just as corners are cut in the animation.
Man, I just said a lot of negative things, didn’t I. I rarely do negative reviews…
I’m sorry
OK, so I stand by everything I said and I believe it’s a fair representation of this anime. But I didn’t dislike it. Some episode were kinda boring but by the midway point I got into it and was pleasantly, if a little mindlessly, watching along and enjoying myself. The narrative is essentially a procedural with each individual case lasting 2 or 3 episodes and the focus is on the action rather than the deduction. There are a few filler episode, one about a bra thief and another about a baseball game. Both are fun.
So what am I suppose to say. In many ways Heaven’s Memo Pad isn’t a very good anime. It’s outrageously bad or anything, it’s just that you can easily find similar done better in most regards. But at the same time, it has entertaining moments, superficial but not bad characters and pretty designs.
I would say if you are liking the screencaps and generally enjoy procedural type shows, give it a watch.
Trigger and Spoiler warning here: suicide comes up a few times and there is a depiction of attempted suicide in the main cast in later episodes. Although it’s not glorified in any way, I think it could be uncomfortable to watch for some viewers.
nah, you’re just the best!

What this anime taught me: You can just wrap your chest and do sports. Somehow I doubt it.

Bookshelf Briefs 4/2/18
ACCA 13-Territory Inspection Department, Vol. 2 | By Natsume Ono | Yen Press – I’m not entirely certain how seriously I should be taken the plotting against the crown here, or indeed the crown’s own attempts to overthrow ACCA. It does seem like Jean has no shortage of people who hate him and want to see a) his department obliterated and b) him arrested for treason. The trouble, of course, being he’s not actually plotting any sort of coup. In fact, he seems to be doing his job more because he has the hots for his superior officer more than anything else, although that’s as much of a lost cause as his own junior who has a crush on him. ACCA is a great series to read, but I don’t think I quite feel the sense of ominous danger I’m meant to. It needs a corpse or two. – Sean Gaffney
Battle Angel Alita: Deluxe Edition, Vol. 2 | By Yukito Kishiro | Kodansha Comics – Having previously read only a portion of the sequel/alternate ending Last Order (parts of which I greatly enjoyed although as a whole the series didn’t overly impress me), I never quite understood the immense popularity of Battle Angel Alita. But now, thanks to the deluxe, hardcover edition from Kodansha Comics, the original manga is back in print in English and I finally get it. The series is terrific, with an appealing lead, intense action sequences, and a striking and visually imaginative cyberpunk setting. The story of the second omnibus (most closely equivalent to the third and fourth volumes), turns to the dangerous and deadly sport of Motorball. After a tragic end to her first romance, Alita leaves behind her life as a bounty hunter to become a rising star of the game. Her search for identity continues as she strives to find purpose and meaning in who she is. – Ash Brown
A Centaur’s Life, Vol. 14 | By Kei Murayama | Seven Seas – I’ve said this before, but the longer this series goes on, and the less the main cast appear in it, the more I suspect that the anti-war story with the frogs that he has going on is the story he really wanted to tell, only he had to write about 7-8 volumes of fanservicey monster girl antics in order to get the series so popular he could get away with it. This is not to say we don’t still see Hime and company, or that there’s not fanservice—just look at the first chapter. But there’s more and more of the warfare in this book, and as it goes on it’s becoming clear that the participants being centaurs or frogs or angels is irrelevant to war being hell for all concerned. Easily the strangest monster girl series coming out these days. – Sean Gaffney
The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Vol. 11 | By Aya Shouoto | VIZ Media – Anyone expecting any sort of evolution of Aoi and Himari’s relationship in the wake of his confession at the end of volume nine will be disappointed, since here we are in volume eleven and the gang is primarily focused on getting control of a spreading darkness at the back of Momochi House. Himari is learning more about what happened to the previous Nue(s) and what fate might await Aoi, too, but for the most part this volume just has a lot of battles between Aoi and his immediate predecessor, whose body has been resurrected by his one of his shikigami. I appreciated the BL vibes I got from them during their final panel, but otherwise this volume was a trifle meh. – Michelle Smith
Flying Witch, Vol. 5 | By Chihiro Ishizuka | Vertical Comics – There actually is some plot development here, as Makoto is starting to get jobs, though the job amounts to ‘babysitting.’ More importantly, Chinatsu has been watching witches and magic for some time, and apparently her body is allowing her to use mana now, meaning… she can become a witch! For the moment that just amounts to squirting people with water, but I’m sure that the series is going to have a lot more to do with this going forward. Other than that, and the affirmation that there really is not going to be any romance in this series, even one-sided, thankyouverymuch, and that it is content to have chapters like “try to cure hiccups.” For fans of Yotsuba&! and similar series. – Sean Gaffney
Golden Kamuy, Vol. 4 | By Satoru Noda | Viz Media – There is… a bit less gore this time around, though that’s mostly relative. In fact, at times the genre of Golden Kamuy seems to be switching with every volume, as this time it’s turning into a political thriller, as there’s a lot more focus about what to do with the gold once it’s found, as well as showing off that the comedy relief character, while still funny, may be a bit less goofy than we expected. But rest assured there’s also lots of what brought people to Golden Kamuy in the first place—cooking wild anmals, lots of discussion of poop, and the occasional bloody death and cool action shot. Also, please do not let your heroine get kidnapped by eagles. She is far too valuable. Thank you. – Sean Gaffney
Kiss & White Lily for My Dearest Girl, Vol. 5 | By Canno | Yen Press – Another volume, another relationship, this one featuring the classic forgotten childhood friend. Sawa and Itsuki are entertaining on their own, but there’s no real drama as to whether or not they’ll get together The best part is that Sawa takes a while to struggle with “oh, yeah, I guess I do like her this way,” rather than having an immediate epiphany like some other couples we’ve seen. We also get more attention devoted to the main couple, as we see Ayaka dealing with her Education Mama and her frustration at not being able to be number one… even if she’s not sure that should be her goal anymore. This is not the best yuri manga out there, but it’s pretty solid overall. – Sean Gaffney
Twinkle Stars, Vol. 5 | By Natsuki Takaya | Yen Press –Twinkle Stars, Vol. 5 | By Natsuki Takaya | Yen Press – And so, Twinkle Stars comes to a sometimes painful, sometimes lovely close. Just when Chihiro has finally accepted his feelings for Sakuya, he gets a surprise phone call from Sakura, who has actually been awake for some time. He’s afraid that she’ll try to kill herself again unless he shows her what he learned from Sakuya—that kindness and warmth are not an illusion—and so he chooses to leave for Tokyo to be by her side. Not before Sakuya realizes that he’s in love with her, though—in a majorly tear-inducing scene!—and not without telling Sakura that he can’t consider her his girlfriend anymore because he’s fallen in love with someone else. There’s a lot of self-sacrificing going around, including Sakura eventually realizing that she alone can make Chihiro happy… by setting him free. This was such a great series and I look forward to rereading it in the future. – Michelle Smith
Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty, Vol. 3 | By Megumi Morino | Kodansha Comics – Well, that cliffhanger from the last volume went nowhere fast. Instead, we deal with Tetsu’s love of soccer, and the fact that various circumstances led him to leave the team despite that love. This has not sat well with some friends of his, and Shizu and her ghosts end up being dragged into things in order to get him to reconcile with the team. This is pretty heartwarming, and also shows us that Shizu is getting better at being herself when she’s outside, even if the ghosts still occupy her body much of the time. We’re now halfway through the series, and I suspect things may get a little more serious towards the end, so it’s nice to see something like this that is serious yet easily solvable. Also, Shizu’s cute. – Sean Gaffney
