Special Awards Head-case of the Year Gilescandy  -  “Did you see this year's nomination announcement?  She had to go to Canada to get that.  She spoke to the man himself.  She touched him.  "If I sound bitter, I am". ;-)” 51kas81 – “She's been tirelessly making gif sets of everything Tony's ever been in, for I don't know how many months now, and there's no indication of the work slowing down or stopping any time soon. That kind of commitment is frankly incredible. Besides, the constant stream of gorgeous content is a blessing for this fandom.”
Littleotter73 – “Otter may not be the most outspoken among us, but if you look in the background, she’s usually there.  From being and co-mod for Summer of Giles, to helping keep us organized and on track for Tony’s b-day surprises, to helping to make sure these awards can happen, you’ll find her hand in it somewhere.  Plus, she always presents us with new and wonderful stories each year.  She is a longtime and beloved member of this fandom.”
Head-space of the year Summer of Giles 2017 – “Summer of Giles is always one of the most welcoming spaces in the Giles community and 2017 was no exception. This Summer of Giles 2017 saw some new interesting twist, like the Last Line/ First Line Drabble Challenge Mini-Fest and Haiku challenge day. But it's the community itself that makes Summer of Giles so wonderful. Participants are always quick to offer support to each other from word of praise in feedback to offering to swap days when someone is in a pinch. Summer of Giles is one of the reasons it's so fun to be in the Giles fandom.”
Rupert Giles, Watcher  A BtVS Blog Dedicated to Rupert Giles – “Rupert Giles, Watcher is a blog that is totally devoted to Giles, is inclusive, and supports all ships. The blog is updated regularly through the day, everyday with a variety of fun and entertaining Giles fanworks, from gifsets to aesthetics to manips to fic, and also supports the BtVS community by promoting various comms and cross-posting their content. It's definitely a blog to follow to get your daily Giles' fix and to know what is happening in the Giles and wider BtVS community.”
Giles Shorts – “Giles Shorts is a community for posting drabbles and ficlets with Rupert Giles as the primary focus. There are weekly prompts posted to to help get those creative juices going, but there's no real time limit for the prompts. You can choose any of the prompts at any time to post, and is inclusive and supports any ship. You do have to be a member to post, but joining is easy and open to anyone. If you want to practice your writing and want some prompts to get you started, this is a good  comm to check out.”

The great @jeineeyre tagged me in this cool reading thing! Thanks!
Which book are you reading right now? Fluent Forever by Gabriel Wyner. It’s somewhat helpful so far. Also, War and Peace, but I haven’t gone back to it in a while.
What’s the best beverage when reading? Water or vanilla rooibos.
What is/are your favourite book quote(s)?
“Male fantasies, male fantasies, is everything run by male fantasies? Up on a pedestal or down on your knees, it's all a male fantasy: that you're strong enough to take what they dish out, or else too weak to do anything about it. Even pretending you aren't catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy: pretending you're unseen, pretending you have a life of your own, that you can wash your feet and comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering through the keyhole, peering through the keyhole in your own head, if nowhere else. You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman. You are your own voyeur.” from the Robber Bride by Maragaret Atwood
That’s the only one that immediately comes to mind. I don’t really keep quotes anywhere except the clippings on my kindle, and the vast majority of that was for school.
Are you looking forward to a certain book release? If yes, which one?
It’s been a while since I got really invested in a series and I’m a point where I don’t like my old favorite authors very much. That said, I’m looking forward to a few cookbook releases. One of my favorite blogs, Hot for Food is writing one. Also Sweet Potato Soul.
What’s your Hogwarts house? Ravenclaw
If you could get on a plane right now, where would you go? (And yes, fictional places are good as well. You could also travel via wardrobe/ train/ etc.) I’d want to go to Spain during the time Ernest Hemingway was there so I could practice Spanish and fight Ernest Hemingway.
What’s your favourite holiday read? Stiff by Mary Roach because January is the deadliest month. I don’t really know what constitutes as a holiday read.
Spell your name using book titles! Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett  You Have to Stop This by Pseudonymous Bosch Are there any books you want to recommend to the rest of us? :)
Obviously it depends on what you want in a book. (loosely organized from fun to serious)
-The Diviners by Libba Bray is a fun book and combines mystery and supernatural.  -Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn is another good mystery -Stardust by Neil Gaiman is one of the best fantasy books in existence -Singing School by Robert Pinsky is a good overview of what makes poetry good and gets you out of a creative rut -Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is a classic that I actually feel comfortable recommending to everyone. It’s about a man who goes from being mentally disabled to very intelligent, and it’s as insightful and sad as you’d expect. The author also crafts the voice of the man very well, so you watch his language go from simplistic (and poorly spelled) to elaborate.  -Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett is also good if you feel like something introspective. Mostly it’s about how difficult it is to be close to someone who is going through a lot.
What is your favorite nonfiction subject to read? memoirs and cookbooks
What types of book covers do you find most aesthetically pleasing?  Minimalist ones.
Favorite book you’ve read this year? Paid For by Rachel Moran was illuminating and endlessly intriguing in how everything Moran goes through in it is repulsive. Trigger warning obviously because it’s about prostitution.  Honorable mention to The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I’ve seen lots of meta and gifsets from the show because of a person I follow from high school, and she was so excited about it that I thought I’d give it a go. It’s poorly paced in my opinion but the characters are solid.
If you set yearly goals for yourself, how many books would you like to read in 2017? Right now my goal is 50, which is a little less than one a week.
Which book, if any, has made a lasting impression on you? Loads. Like Jessica jeineeyre, Les Miserables definitely has. Every time I go back to it, I find something else about it that I love. I think, also, Matilda by Roald Dahl and every other book that had a virtually perfect female protagonist did, in lots of different ways.
What book has been the greatest disappointment to you?
All About Love by bell hooks. I love a lot of the quotes from her, but this books just reiterates a lot of stuff I already knew.
So if tagged, answer the original questions and either add (or delete if you’d like) to the list of questions, then tag more people!
