god this will probably be the only time I say this because I don't like using the tag to begin with but if you want to tag #radiosilence for one-sided radiostatic, PLEASE, at the very least, don't include a space. type it as one word: #radiosilence. I already take issue with the tag as it is but in tagging #radio silence, with the space, you're using and flooding the main tag that is supposed to be for the alice oseman book "radio silence" (which also has a canon aspec character apparently!)

please let people from that fandom have their tag without being flooded with hazbin hotel I am begging you

When I was 13 I tagged "Homosexual rules OK" on the grocery store one town over. This was -94 and I barely knew what it was, but oh did I defend peoples right to be gay.

Around that time I watched my favorite character Buffy the Vampire Slayer answer "Yes I am" when told she wasn't like other girls. It taught me that even if we are different we are all the same.

About one year later a neo nazi took me in a choke hold and threw me onto the stage for getting between him and my best friend who he beat to a pulp because he kissed another boy.

I have always been an ally, even long before I realized I was queer myself.

In my fandom some are throwing around the word misogyny because people prefer m/m over f/f and that is just insane to me.

Misogyny and internalized misogyny are real problems but it has almost lost its meaning the way people use it.

We all have our reasons for what we like and don't like and they don't have to be deep. It can just be "I like this, but not that" it is for me.

But, I also have a deeper meaning. As a girl growing up I could walk hand in hand with other girls without anyone batting much of an eye. I could kiss them on the cheek or lightly on the lips and it wasn't a problem. Mostly because no one looked at us and automatically saw it as romantic, or sexual. We were just galpals. And sometimes we were. And sometimes we weren't. We got away with so much.

My male presenting friends weren't as lucky. So when I write m/m I want to give them a happy ending, because many of my friends never got theirs.

So I've decided to make a point. I know hundreds of writers on here have been trying to bring this to the attention of audiences, but it doesn't seem to be getting through. So I'm gonna try. These are the likes, comments, and reblog ratios on some of my fics.

I don't get as many notes as some authors do on here for most of my work, but you can see how out of 447 people that it's underwhelming to receive no comments.

Even on my more popular fanfictions, the comments and reblogs don't even compare to the amount of likes on a post.

And here is a fact that might startle some of you;

Likes mean nothing. They mean nothing on any social media app, and at the end of the day, they mean even less here. Writers want kudos, comments, ideas, and constructive criticism. Writers want your thoughts on the work you just read. Even if it's just a simple red heart emoji or a keyboard smash, that tells us so much and gives us inspiration to write similar content for you and others to enjoy. Reblogs are even more important than comments and most definitely likes. Reblogs allow our work to reach different sides and circles of tumblr. If it's on your mutuals dash because you reblogged it, then more people will see it, read it, and hopefully enjoy it. Reblogs matter, because writers are pouring their heart, soul, pussys, and dicks into these fics and are brave enough to post them. For free. You get to read these fics for free. And the least you can do is drop a comment.

Reblog a fic to your blog if you loved it. Even better, Reblog with tags or write your comments with the reblog. We see all of it, and it makes our day. Please, you're wondering why writers for your favorite fandoms are dwindling here. It's because there is no support. If you support your favorite writers, artists, gifmakers, etcetera, then we might just stick around and continue making free content for you all.

can't believe a show based on a videogame (usually games adaptations are notoriously bad, which isn't the case here tho) gave me the beauty and the beast/twisted mirrors/enemies to traveling companions/ruthless antihero+optmistic but still badass heroine who takes none of his shit/age gap but make it sexy dynamic of my dreams. as much as i love maximus and i think he deserves the best writing ever because 1. he's a clever deconstruction of the aspiring Knight bro who's actually a bit of a loser and, as much as lucy, sees the world in black&white at first and then doesn't get what he thought he wanted but what he needs (or at least i hope he'll eventually get it), and 2. he's a cutie and i want an epic love story for him too, it's very funny how they tried to give us a puppy kind of romance and the tumblr girlies still fixated on the "toxic ~she bites his finger off and he cuts hers off and sews it on his hand in what we'll pretend it's a symbolic marriage rings exchange or whatever~ asshole who used to be a nice guy/good girl™ with a lot of spunk and hidden anger but unshakeable morals" kind of relationship.

#mind you idt the writers will ever have the guts to go for this pair or anything and i'm perfectly okay with the maximus/lucy romance #but still. they tried to give us the wholesome love story between two cuties with a killer side #and the fandom went ~mmmh we kinda want for that girl and the noseless radioactive ghoul to fuck nasty actually #shhdhdhf i'm sorry but this was so predictable to me. conosco i miei polli #also. i don't fully understand those who see it as a father/daughter thing? just because it worked on tlos #doesn't mean we need the same kind of dynamic here #1. despite him being an actual father (or at least. he was 200+ years ago) i've never seen a less paternal character than the ghoul lmao #2. lucy is an adult woman. young but in her mid twenties i guess? cooper had (and maybe still has) a daughter but the kid was like. 6 or 7?#lucy doesn't need a daddy she's a grown up. stop infantilizing women all the freaking time #let them be fully equals!! let them be bickering road trip companions/a killer squad/tentative allies who eventually form a real bond #i SWEAR if the writers go full parent/child bs with them in s2 because they're more popular #(at least on ao3. i don't expect the same level of insanity from the general audience)#than the canon ship i'll riot. idt they will but still #..... maybe they should go for a hot max/lucy/coop polycule instead. that would be interesting lmao #vaultghoul #fallout #val rambles in the tags #val speaks #txt

i am fiercely anti-censorship. i don’t harass people for shipping or creating media for things i wouldn’t approve of IRL and i understand it’s just fiction.

does it make me an anti for not personally wanting to see proship content?

i generally block proship blogs and tags and that’s about it. i don’t report or add them to a list or any of that bs. i’m honestly kind of confused about proshipping as a whole (i don’t know any of the terms and it was explained to me like “these people are bad and hurt people” a long time ago)

Proship just means "ship and let ship", which seems to be your stance. Basically just minding your own and not caring what other people are doing in fandoms. Just don't let an anti tell you what proship means because they have a lot of misconceptions. Or they purposefully like to spread misinformation, I don't know.

But it's totally fine not to vibe with that kind of dark content! Proship doesn't mean you HAVE to ship those sorts of things. Just that you don't bother people who do ship those things. And knowing that a person's ships isn't a reflection of what they want or what they do irl.

I'm baffled that people are hating on you for having an opinion on a fictional Minecraft block man aksbahf. Even as someone who does enjoy FH (mostly the fandom version of it honestly), it's bonkers to judge someone for NOT liking a ship? Or not enjoying a character's behavior? Or for interpreting on-screen interactions differently than they do??? Like jesus, the whole point of fandom is to enjoy it the way you want to. You're not hurting anyone by seeing a pairing as negative based on what you watched. Look at friggin' Desert Duo, half the fandom writes 'em as toxic and divorced, and the other says they're devoted and inseparable. Different stances and interpretations make for a mixed and flavorful fandom experience and a melting pot of awesome stories and art. Good lord, god forbid you like something different or dislike a specific part of a media that you love lol

Oh god if only it were like desert duo, if only... But lmao yeah right!! I'm sorry that Scott smajor damnthatsalongusername is a guy that exists in real life I really don't care. I just want to discuss what I see from the series! And the more I see people with similar opinions to mine talk, the more evident it becomes that those opinions used to be so minimal because of this kind of fandom treatment. Also I do like FH too haha, I don't think I can say I ship it but obviously it's really compelling to me, and I've said it before and I'll keep saying it that I very much enjoy a lot of fluffy FH art and I really like them in ESMP1 for example. But no, I said they were toxic in 3L so that means I hate them!!!! It's ridiculous how much of a black and white matter this is to so many people, I don't understand... And the thing is that I WANT to understand! As you said, it's cool and intriguing! Differing discussion only adds to any one subject matter. Soft FH people probably wouldn't change my mind but I'd love to understand their points if only those points weren't something along the lines of "shut up you're wrong" (obviously not everyone!! But it is what I keep seeing in the FH tag lol)

I've seen people proclaim Jimmy as the abusive one, or proclaim ranchers as toxic etc, and I don't see it but man does it intrigue me! It's absurd to me personally, but I'm not telling you to shut up - you can't just say that and not tell me more! I wanna know what people are thinking without shutting one another down...

Me and some of my mutuals both here and on twitter, and probably more artists who draw canon celestial family fanart, have been threatened with this same message by that group of that ship: "Let's see how yall feel being scared of posting your art like you made our artists scared of posting theirs" This is a copy and paste from my DMs on twitter, and this is just one of the many hateful things they sent to me. Mind you, we have never dabbled into that ship until we were accused of spreading hate by posting our celestial family fanarts in the appropriate tags. We didn't even do so much as to dip our toes in that ship, yet how is it fair that we got harassed too? Made to be afraid of sharing our fanarts? And nobody else besides us consoled one another while the harassers got sympathy because "they were just having fun shipping." Guess what? We too were just having fun drawing fanarts of the wholesome, funny, angsty celestial family and stayed in our little corner. Now that we are saying that it's unfair that we were harassed for doing nothing wrong, we are being told to just drop it? Why didn't anyone tell those harassers to drop it? Tell me how that is fair. They were the ones causing harm but we are told to shut up and get over the harm they've caused to us? Yes, I'm aware that I sound mentally damaged in this confession because I am. You want to know how it feels to finally be confident and safe sharing your art and interest out there, only to one day come home, open your socials, and see all the malicious things people DMed you and sent to your askbox, targeting both you as a person and nitpicking everything they could about your art, all for the sake of "taking revenge" on you when you haven't even done anything wrong? When you're not even one of the people who hate their ship? It was mentally damaging and I had to silently go on a hiatus. Now watch as people insult me for this and call me dramatic for getting hurt from the harassment I got. I wish I could engage with my interest without getting harassed or be told to "toughen up". Why don't you instead tell people to stop harassing others? Especially those who are already mentally fragile and just want to have a good time in a fandom because they deserve to have fun as much as those who aren't mentally fragile.

Hey team! Just saw a great video on tiktok by Nicole MeKeon Author and reposted it there, but wanted to share the info here too because I know while some people enjoy kinda being "in the thick of it all" with the ship wars, there are also people like me who genuinely try to be kind but are deeply sensitive and sometimes get assaulted with the algorithm sending us videos of people saying really mean things about the things or characters we love, or at worst making comments on women's reproductive abilities. As someone who loves Gwyn but has an extremely traumatic medical history that I don't feel I need to share to be respected, I had to block G/wynriel on Tumblr early on. I did not think you could do this on Tiktok, but you can! So just like on Tumblr, you can filter those hashtags and try to create a more positive environment for yourself and wellbeing in an intense fandom!

First, click on your profile and go to Settings and Privacy, then select Content Preferences:

Then select Filter video keywords:

Then add the tags you'd like to filter!

For me, although I am genuinely interested in others opinions and have zero issue with the fact that other ships exist, I've just had to take steps to protect my emotional well being and love for the characters. Filtering these tags actually allow me to keep my love for the characters alive and not get caught up in the bullying that occurs in the ship space. I truly mean no harm!

I hope this share helps you find some more peace if you are like me and the algorithm sometimes assaults you with people who are not always kind when commenting on characters or couples you love. And I know all sides do it! So I hope this helps whoever comes across it!

Hey sweet!😍 How exciting that you're dipping your toe in the tumblrsphere!!!

Since you're a seasoned writer, here are some tips about other things:

No.1 Piece of Advice - Talk to people!!!!!! Be nice!!!! Let your freak flag fly!!! You sent me an ask apologising for being all over my posts ATM...DON'T!!! That is literally the best thing you could do. It's how you get to know other users, how you recognise each other, how you build little in jokes and suss out your people. Please please involve yourself in your fandom. Fics, silly things. Exposing yourself (careful...) and getting to know writers is honestly the best thing. Results will vary depending on other users you approach, but it's the best way to feel like you're not posting into a void. And reblog things you read, or that make you laugh! Especially if you're a writer, and you read fics... do unto others as you would have done unto you or naff off with the right to complain when people don't share yours, is my view (not you personally, just in general) (If you weren't aware, on Tumblr, reblogs are the best way to show appreciation/ share work - but comments are also great.) The read more button. You need to insert this on your fics (it's what causes the 'read more' line to appear at a certain point you choose.) A couple of paragraphs/lines/whatever in, press enter and this button will appear on the bar

It's the black squiggly one at the far right. This means that your post won't be 3 miles long and is more shareable - and also it means anyone who shares it won't have a huge long post on their dash :)

Tags/Warnings As well as your fandom # tags a lot of people add warnings at the top of the fics (for things ranging from smut, to various kinks, to anything triggering) Approaches to this vary, no ones perfect - but especially where things are obviously sensitive topics, include these to avoid upsetting people.

Headcanon Etiquette If someone's thought/headcanon they've posted inspires you, and it's very specific and inspires an idea - drop them a message to ask if they mind you writing something about it and credit them in the post because I've seen some absolute audacity in my time and it's never ok. I'm in no way saying you'd do this, but it's my biggest pet peeve. Just be respectful of other people's imaginations, basically. It's literally all we have here 🤣

I've been in the RA fandom for quite some time, but I prefer BB. But the problem with joining this fandom is all the characters that you people have made up (not in a negative way). For example in the RA fandom most of the posts are just about well known characters like will and halt. But I've been scrolling in the brotherband tag for maybe 30 minutes and I'm so confused. I don't recognize a lot of these names, you guys make content about the most minor characters ever and all the characters suddenly have last names that I didnt know existed. I mean no hate with this, just something I've noticed :p

Genuinely Griddlehark. I ship it a normal amount (actually, I ship it a lot!) but I'm out of step with a lot of what is in the AO3 tag. I'm way more into the messed up drama part of it.

WIP Wednesday (4/17/24)

Fandom: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reboot

Working Title: A Protege's Trust (link to the tag)

Pairing: Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick x Lisa 'Badger' Compton

Rating: E (eventually, but not in this snippet)

Synopsis:

CIA operative Lisa Compton is assigned to the 141 - it's her responsibility to help Laswell coordinate infill and exfill, gather crucial intel for the team and provide plausible cover stories when they get into tight spots. There's one problem: Sgt. Garrick is the most insufferable, unprofessional, bull-headed boy she's ever worked with. Gaz's an immaculate soldier, ready to jump at Price's order and launch himself into the fray with his mind focused on one thing: completing the mission. But when Laswell assigns the new CIA operative 'Badger' to their team, he can't stop flirting with her, thinking about her soft curves and sharp wit more often than focusing on the job at hand. Laswell won't approve her transfer to another team. Price is threatening to bench him. Badger and Gaz won't talk to - let alone look at- each other. Ghost thinks Badger's nickname should be 'Insufferable Yank.' Soap wants them to fuck it out already.

AKA: This'n's a good ol enemies to [???] to lovers with a sprinkling of other tropes for good measure. (Something something Price/Gaz being mirrored in Laswell/Compton? 👀) Credit to @pfhwrittes for collabing and feeding the brainworms. Station Chief Laswell stood quietly in the corner of the briefing room, surveying the group seated in the briefing room. Her fingers idly tapped along the edge of her folder, watching operatives mutter alongside soldiers, the chatter covering the struggling projector on the table.

Captain Price rocked on his feet on the other side of the screen. “All right, settle in.” His voice snuffed out the conversations, chairs scuffling and people settling in the following silence. One last bark of laughter echoed across the space. “Garrick–”

“Sorry Sir.”

Lisa huffed softly to herself as she caught Sergeant MacTavish punching Sergeant Garrick in the arm and the returned scowl.

At least one of the 141 seemed to want to take this seriously.

The original person who called for the hunger strike thats being spread around is an actual Palestinian, not a performative activist, who has made their reasons for doing so very clear in other posts. Every post I've seen being spread about the situation includes extremely detailed information on how to go about something like this safely, (including ways to preserve your energy and keep your body nourished enough to avoid health complication and consulting with your doctor) and how hunger strikes have been used as a form of protest across history. Moreover, no one is forcing anyone to do this and the posts circulating make a huge point of stressing safety above all else. If someone is not safe to do a hunger strike thats perfectly reasonable, I know I wouldn't be safe to do that. However, if someone wants to protest in this way which has a large amount of historical precedent and wants to share information about how others can safely join their protest, (which again, does not have a stipulated timespan and can be stopped whenever the protester chooses) there's really not anything wrong with that. Hunger strikes are nothing new and if your issue with it is that the content is improperly tagged, I understand that. But to say that they don't do anything or anyone involved in an extreme and active form of protest to call out the famine that children in Haza are facing is just being "performative" is literally just not true. I agree with a lot of the posts you've shared in the past about how tumblr users' "activism" is often just for morality points and results in a lot of unnecessary harassment, but this just honestly isn't one of those cases and anyone participating in it probably has their own personal reasons for doing so. I'm not even trying to be disrespectful here but your post shows ignorance. This is honestly not something that needs to be talked about by an our flag means death fandom blogger

it doesn't matter that safety information is being shared, it doesn't matter that people are free to not join in - at the end of the day, someone is being applauded for announcing that they're going to fast for upwards of 2 weeks straight, and is calling people brave and kind for saying they're going to join in, and none of this is tagged. disordered eating is very very common and it's irresponsible to be using a large platform to tell people that they should stop eating because it's morally good and perfectly safe and an example of good activism

hunger strikes are nothing new, but this is not a hunger strike. the original poster has said themselves that it's a solidarity fast and has admitted that it's being done out of a personal feeling of guilt. this is less a hunger strike and more a bit of performative self-flagellation

Sorry for the yelling, but saw this on the tags and I felt seen.

Because I am soooooo over this album. I have been fan since debut, I mean I don’t know all her songs but I have always listened to her music. I have never been interested in her life as well. I only listened to her music and never focused on the other stuff. I was always been aware of some drama. But never really paid attention to it.

When midnight came out I I loved the album because I saw sooo much maturity in it and the music and her writing. I also loved her promotion of it and then the eras tour I was like that’s amazing how she has grown as human. But now I am sorry but I getting the IK from her and the swifties.

Her behaviour to me is sooo off putting, she is acting over the top. And the people she is surrounding herself with are soo questionable.

Her playing into fan theories, the playlists, the constant pap walks (they are obviously planned and staged to get her more exposure), and naming her album to match the group chat from Joe and his friends screams I am an immature and petty Ex.

I will still listen to the album when it comes out but will probably listen when it’s a been a minute since it’s released.

As a romance reader I thought the relationship was so cute, the football player and the pop star but these past two months have been so fucking cringe. I don’t know how to feel about her. Like you said it’s obviously PR, no way this is real. It’s just too over the top. You can have public relationships but this is not it, if you get what I am saying.

Sorry for the rant but I just got excited I found someone feeling the same way.

Sweet anon, don't apologise. For those of us that don't adhere to blind fanaticism, it can be an isolating and alienating experience in this fandom.

I feel the same. I was so proud of Tay's growth and her maturity when she renounced the Hollywood lifestyle and described it as a place of "lies" in Getaway Car. Her taking a step back and deciding to focus on music was so real and refreshing.

Now, all of that progress seems to be undone by her actions over the past 2 years. It's heart-breaking to witness.

I was also proud of her when she decided to be an activist and declared that she wanted to "be on the right side of history." Alas, now that she's on top again, she no longer cares about speaking out on what's right.
