isn't it crazy that certain ships have made me dislike characters that I normally would love? I like them but they're not my faves bECAUSE I was tired of watching their characters get reduced just to fit the ships. (or watching my absolute faves get reduced just for the very specific ships I'm referring to).

Thinking about current continuity Vanessa and just getting pissed off again
Like one, LET HER REST oh my god dc you ruin her FUCKING life like an asshole only to bring her back as a villain after she finally got out oh my god-
But also like its just so bad. This is a whole other woman with her name like why are we doing this. Like first you kill her mom (JULIA NOOO) and erase her YEARS of history growing up around diana (the thing that actually made her villain turn [if you can call it that w the level of manipulation involved] interesting and fucking heartbreaking) for some shitty "oh I saved you we were friends" run of the mill whatever. Then to use that and say Nessie had a crush on her OWN SISTER (Diana, so like informally adopted, but still 😡) now????
And then they took away her curls and made her a redhead but not even the realistic kind. DC SHE DOESNT LOOK LIKE THAT
It just makes me so mad. Freaking guys. They could have used another name like oh my god. She's not even the first silver swan why the fuck would they do that if they're not going to explore her history w diana (which she no longer has!!!!) or how intensely fucked up everything got for her. What is even the fucking point of this then other to drag a main character of the ww supporting cast through the mud again for genuinely no reason. They could have easily had her be Valerie Beaudry (sorry Val) instead or just MADE UP ANOTHER NAME because it's obvious that no one actually cared about her as a character they just wanted the wondy villain back so like !!!!!!!!!! Why even bother

Twst book 7 spoilers
Just my personal theories and some brief bits of translation
I know everyone is freaking out because of this but let’s draw a proper line between canon and assumptions. No Lilia did NOT call Silver “Lord Silver”, that was not in the Japanese text.
However, Lilia did say the crown shaped ring was with Silver when Lilia found him as a baby, so it is true that Silver’s birth parents at least have the wealth / social status to give the baby a ring like this. The thing is canon did not give us any hints to assume Lilia knows that, maybe Lilia only knows about as much as us, he does not know whether Silver is a “lord” or not.
Lilia observes that the jewel on the ring is the same colour as Silver’s eyes and he says he thinks Silver’s parents entrusted this ring with an earnest prayer for their son’s eyes to be forever pure without any sorrow. Lilia says originally he wanted to give the ring back to Silver when he becomes an adult, so it’s a little early now but he says it’s a good chance to give it back. He also says “Silver, you have grown into a fine young man fit to hold onto this ring. From now on, keep living without putting shame on this aurora-coloured brilliance, alright?”
Below are my theories:
1. I think the acorn bracelet in the tin can (which Lilia said is the most valuable gift that has ever been given to him) is from Silver as a child because it’s placed with another item related to Silver.
2. Thanks to @llondonfog for discussing this with me. Lilia said he wanted to give this ring back to Silver when Silver becomes an adult, which is next year when he turns 18. Lilia also said he thought his fading magic would hold out until he graduates NRC, which is also next year when Lilia should have become a fourth year. I don’t know if these are coincidence, so we thought maybe Lilia wanted to protect and teach Silver with the last bit of his magic until Silver becomes an adult, and then Lilia gives the ring back to Silver so that Silver (now fully-grown and able to fend for himself) can go back to his birth parents.
3. I am not calm about this UFIKSCBYRLGF so Lilia just LEAVES??? He even says to Silver “Do whatever you want with our house” like WHAT??? And Silver doesn’t talk back at all, he just says “I understand. I will think about it.” Silver tried to stop Lilia from going once but only with the reason that “Me and Sebek can visit you with little difficulty even if you move to a foreign land, but Malleus-sama...” I assume he means Malleus can’t visit as often because he can’t just leave Briar Valley, ofc there could be other things he meant but at least it was FOR Malleus and not for himself noooooooooo. And Malleus was so calm in front of them and keeps saying he respects Lilia’s choice I cannot... Malleus does love Lilia enough to respect him and puts Lilia before himself at least for this moment (we dunno what he’ll do later) 🥺🥺🥺 But I’m sus about two things here. 1) Why is Silver so calm? Ofc it’s in his personality but his father is literally leaving him, and he did wonder once if he should go with Lilia, but that was because he worries about Lilia’s lack of life skills (tidying his room and such). He wasn’t worried about himself. 2) Why is Lilia leaving in such a hurry? It’s in line with Lilia’s personality but it’s still sus. A lot of people are theorising that there may be a bigger reason for Lilia to leave in such a hurry, and while nothing in canon suggests this I also agree with this theory, it just seems too strange to me that Lilia would abruptly leave his family like this

I've been rereading ACOTAR right, and I know there's so many issues with it (I still love it tho lol), but my main gripe with it at the moment is the potential foreshadowing of Rhys becoming the High King of Prythian.
I know it was brought up by Amren, and credit to Rhys, the topic was shut down pretty quickly. But it still makes me a little nervous because SJM likes her foreshadowing. So why would it have even been brought up if it wasn't a possibility? I don't like it.
Rhysand taking over and ruling over all the territories of Prythian would be such a slap in the face to the other High Lords. Take Eris, for example.
Eris has been working for centuries to try and get his father off the throne. It's been a long process, and there's been a lot of suffering in the Autumn Court. After going through all of that, he deserves a chance to be the High Lord that Beron wasn't and rebuild Autumn into a better place. To change how Prythian has been running, it'll quite literally erase all of that. It would all be for nothing. Not to mention that the Night Court has a deal with Eris. They're supposed to be helping him. It's like... "Oh, you wanna be High Lord? That's nice. We'll help you. JUST KIDDING, you bow to us now."
And then we have Helion, who is Rhys's closest friend and ally. Would he really be happy with no longer having full control over his own territory? The Day Court does so much for the Night Court. It'll be like taking advantage of a centuries long friendship and then throwing that friendship into the fire.
Kallias and Vivian? They certainly don't deserve that kind of treatment either. And for the love of God, give Spring an opportunity to rebuild after you completely destroyed it.
I mean, really, what makes Rhysand and Feyre qualified to be the High King and Queen over literally anybody else? Aside from Velaris, the Night Court is barely functioning. And Amren thinks they can run the entire world? Absolutely not. They've got their own problems to deal with. All of the courts have.
And if Rhys does become the High King, then is he really any better than Amarantha...? That was such a shit time for the entire world. For 50 years, they lived under her reign. They managed to break free and were immediately thrown into a war afterwards. It was hell. Nobody had fun with that. Least of all, Rhys. Everyone suffered for five decades under one ruling, so why make your main character put everyone through that again?
Now, I'm not saying that Rhysand would rule in the same way Amarantha did because she literally had the High Lords imprisoned. I think he would give them at least some power over their own lands. But at the same time, please don't contradict everything you've written.

no u guys don't understand how much that last thought has personally attacked me
young general Lilia Vanrouge learning on his own how to put on his military uniform and formal dress wear for ceremonies at the palace, no one to lean upon for assistance
and now all these years later he's fussing over his darling son's school uniform tie, even as Silver smiles fondly down at him and mutters he can do it himself, you taught me how last year Father, hush dear child and let him indulge in what he could never receive himself and can now spoil his precious family member with
