Prefacing by saying I have been a hardcore Hazbin fan since mid 2019, pre-pilot release. I am not an embittered anti.
Hazbin's pacing doesn't make me angry, it makes me sad. I think about this show setting up like a normal cartoon, letting us get to know the characters, letting us see them day-to-day and strengthening their relationships with each other and how they cope in different silly or serious situations, and I get... just, upset. This isn't a cartoon, this is a webcomic, and it's a webcomic based off some lady's twitter where she gave us a character sheet for everyone before we clicked on so the comic wouldn't have to waste time explaining it. I'm sad.
Who is this Camille lady and what do I care if she killed an angel? Her daughters? Who? I don't know either of their names and I don't care enough about her or them to check. I just met her today! If she dies, if her daughters die, what difference does it make to me? A random decent character design is gone? Ok??
What do I care if Vaggie has self esteem issues? I don't know her, I just met her! I'd care so much more about her song if I cared about her! I'm just expected to care because, hey, Hazbin had a huge fandom pre-release, so why wouldn't I care? She's had so much fanon and speculation, that practically did all the set up for me, right?
,,,nO. I still need you to do the work! I want to know who these people are before I see all their trauma laid bare, because otherwise all they are to me IS their trauma, and it's tough to get invested in that in a world this bleak with a cast this huge.
Helluva Boss did the same thing - Octavia is introduced in episode 2, and then in that same episode we get some big emotional dramatic moment with her and her father that feels like it should have capped an entire character arc. And yeah, I like Octavia, I like her design and her voice and her relationship to her family, but I sure didn't care when she cried about a conflict I only learned 2 minutes ago I was meant to be taking seriously. She gets another big arc for her issues in s2e2, and I cared a LOT MORE, because not only have I actually met her before that episode, I had the entire episode to develop on her specifically and lead up to the emotional climax! It didn't just play happy dappy with her all day and then make her break down, it was a clear progression. Same with Fizz - I enjoyed his recent episode with Blitzo, because I have had several episodes to build up both their individual characters and their relationship to each other and past tension. If that had been their first episode together, I would have again, not cared one bit.
Man.

Wow, Rumple. A way to show where your priorities lie, that's for sure. He could've just as easily said "The pirate and my grandson". But he didn't.

Man SessKag irks me so much. Like Kagome LOVES Inuyasha and Sesshomaru has no interest in her.
It's a nonsense ship.
People can ship them whatever they want, but my opinion still stays.
The only one I see Sessho working is with Kagura.

I have to be completely honest.
As somebody who kind of Izzy Hands quite a bit as the character, I'm not completely satisfied with how they dealt with him in season 2.
Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of him realizing his mistakes and coming to terms with it while becoming a better person... But that's the problem I'm having.
DID he realize his mistakes?
Let me make this clear.
I think people saying that he's the only sole reason that Ed became the Kraken, and that he's the epitome of all evil while Ed is completely innocent and not to blame, is absolutely insane and untrue. A lot of Ed's behavior stems from his childhood trauma and people he loves leaving. This was not excusable, but it is understandable.
That being said, I don't think it should be denied that Izzy was somewhat responsible for enabling Ed. Sure, maybe he wasn't the sole reason Ed was the way he was, but he didn't help, either.
I just don't feel like we got enough acknowledgment of Izzy realizing any of this before Fang snuggled him and Frenchie held his hand. It felt like they were trying to avoid the fact that it was very much a mutually abusive situation.
I just wanted some acknowledgment from Izzy that he didn't feel like he was much of a help in this situation, and that he realized that what Ed did in season 2 wasn't entirely but at least partly something he encouraged.
And maybe, he did all the things he did later, because he felt like he had to be the one to end it, since he felt like he started it.
But again I didn't get that feeling.

I can't defend Rhett anymore. He's so gay. He is gay. EB #394 Rhett McLaughlin: Gay Man.
...Really?! That's not what I got from it. Wanna know what I got from it?
Nothing. It's amazing how void of any meaning or even... idk... intrigue the episode was. I don't want to explain myself too much because having an opinion on somebody's sexual life is sensitive and definitely not my place (though apparently they welcome people having opinions on their sexual life, otherwise they wouldn't make such episodes in the first place) however there were a lot of things said that I just couldn't take seriously. I am really sorry for saying this but almost like with GME, I am (negatively) astonished by their unique ability to discuss so thouroughly sex and everything associated to it and yet make it somehow so remarkably anti-erotic. A prime example of the point that famous "sex-obsessed sexless society" tumblr post was making. Of course I know this episode's object wasn't to be erotic but then again I also can't tell what its point was, so that astonishment as a byproduct of watching another tedious Sextember remains.
As for Rhett, I can't imagine another reason for your eventual certainty about him being gay except that maybe this is how you explain the very particular ways with which he chose to describe his sexual encounters with his wife of (about) 23 years. Perhaps you thought it was the most painfully blatant attempt at overcompensation? If so, I agree. Not necessarily for the "therefore, gay" part but certainly for the overcompensating part. I had this momentary suspicion that Rhett was taking revenge for Link's slip in GME because, honestly, I don't know anymore.
Once more, I was proven right for my trepidation every time a Sextember approaches. Eh. It really is a setback every year.
Like the one good moment was when Link questioned that Rhett only has sex with Jessie...supposedly, "as a joke". That comes nicely after all those anons asking me why I said Link dislikes Jessie, arguing that he just "makes jokes". I am sure Jessie will find this joke, which was uttered publicly, very funny. And I am saying it was a good moment not because it was literally a good moment but because at least THIS moment was consistent to how they typically act.

Some thoughts on Lore Olympus (#1)
I had those wondering thoughts after I saw the tumblr of @nymphsupremacy and how they talked about Zeus’s characters. To be fair, it was refreshing to see someone who liked Minthe and Zeus because I also found them interesting (and their art is also really great, but that’s another subject)
When you go into the tag of LO you can very easily fall on people who bashed those characters and it tends to put me off looking thought the tag  because I really love those characters, especially Minthe. (even if her actions aren’t good, I admit, but she was a complex character and there was so much more to her than just being Persephone’s rival)
Anyway this is not today’s debate. Back to Zeus. SO, I’m not an anti Lore Olympus but I do like to nitpick details that bugs me in a comic/story/show so here I am. (after all I did a side-blog for LO so why not do some ranting post amongst other things)
As of right now, I wanted to talk about how Zeus' character in the webtoon is being bashed quite harshly especially concerning his relationship with Hera.
We’re not going to be hypocrites, cheating is bad but Rachel Smythe didn’t paint Hera as guiltess from what I’ve read and I’m slightly sad she didn’t explicitly make their relationship more complex.
In the earlier chapters, Hades and Hera shared a kiss when Hera was tending Hades’s wounds when he was freed of Kronos. After they won against the Titan, Hera showed again more trust or at least, went to Hades for comfort.
(Also, Hades says at this point that Zeus wasn’t traumatized like the rest of them and that is something else I thought was of bad taste for his character. Trauma doesn’t have to be physical to have impact, and it would have been interesting to see how Zeus dealt with the war and the responsibility of being one to lead them against Kronos (that, that doesn’t things, bad shit, to a person)
My question is (after going off on a tangent, sorry about that) then as follows. Did Hera ever loved Zeus? It is obvious she had attraction for both brothers, she even cheated on Zeus with Hades so why did she accept to marry Zeus?
Let’s see it this way: What if Zeus was aware that Hera preferred or had an attraction for his brother. What if it never left her, this yearning for another, and Zeus could see that she’ll never truly love him. In a very poor life choice, this makes him turn towards cheating. Worsening his relationship with his wife. As someone who loves complicated characters it never sits well for me when there's these little bits of character development spread around but are then forgotten by the majority (maybe that’s just me! But I see a lot of people bitching on Zeus and I’m like “Meh, he’s a cheater but Hera isn’t that great either when you think about it.”) It would have been a better depiction of a toxic relationship where both are hurting each other, making their own mistakes and not being able to find a middle ground. I mean, imagine an episode in couple-therapy talking about they’re issues, it would have been more interesting for both their characters.
Hera could have chosen to follow Hades. Or could have refused to be the Queen of Olympus as Zeus' wife. In Hades words “Zeus offered her to be the Queen of the Gods. And who could refuse that” (I think that’s what he said, I… There’s a lot of chapters and I didn’t check it word for word, mea culpa) Sure it wouldn’t fit with the whole Greek mythology narrative and I’m not there to tell RS that she should have written it any other way. I’m slightly more put out by the bias there is against some characters.
Oh my gosh this was very long, sorry about that, I tried my best to make it short but I hope you find these thoughts interesting anyway or worth reading, thanks for taking time for reading and have a nice day. :)

am I the only one who has a weird resistance to cql or a distaste for it despite loving other live action (like guardian) / donghua (mdzs/tgcf) adaptations??
is it something about mxtx works that don’t translate well into live action adaptations because of how tied in the plot + character motivations and the romance is? does this bode ill for other mxtx live action adaptations?? or am I just being a whiny lil baby and should rewatch cql with a more open mind?
(i’d rather re-watch/hear the audio drama tbh or the donghua despite how much I loved the performances of the entire cast in the live action)

Regulus for the ask game
Y'all are just intent on making me out myself here.
Look. I don't dislike Regulus. I'm just sort of ambivalent about him. I simply don't give him that much thought beyond how he relates to Sirius. ilbaritz is the only author who's ever succeeded in making me feel one way or the other about him, and they had to jump through several AU hoops to do that. With that said...
Sexuality Headcanon: To be clear, he was a teenager when he died. I think that if he had lived longer, of course it's always possible he would have had a queer awakening later on. But growing up in the extremist environment he did, I doubt he thought of himself by that point as anything but Straight. Gender Headcanon: Cis male if we're talking canon. I love FTM trans Reg in AUs but otherwise I simply don't see a world where the Blacks would have been like "yes, we accept this genderqueer child to the point that he's our golden son we put on a pedestal over that deviant blood traitor firstborn."
A ship I have with said character: N/A A BROTP I have with said character: Kreacher. I think Regulus was probably a very lonely child and I actually think his friendship with Kreacher is quite sweet. A NOTP I have with said character: Jegulus. I just. I don't get it. If you do, I'm so happy for you, but it frankly baffles me as a concept. A random headcanon: Walburga intentionally drove a wedge between him and Sirius from an extremely young age, pitting them against one another out of pure narcissism. By the time either of them were old enough to recognize this pattern of behavior the damage was done. They never really had a chance to be brothers. General Opinion over said character: Overhyped. The fandom is starved for new content.

I can see Jace and Clary being that cringe couple. I can see Clary doing the whole “Jace, look at me, look at me! This isn’t you.”
Will be fair and say that they do fit into how couples in ya books we’re written back when it first came out. Most of those couples feel cringe.

my predictions for the future
Dev will continue to work on the game because that’s what he’s been insisting
If Dev steps down, YanSim will be given to another developer rather than sold off
Assuming at least 80% of volunteers have left, Dev will have to spend another several years finding new people and replacing assets before returning to the crowdfunding list
Oh yeah, crowdfunding’s not happening
Amai has been pushed back at least 5 years
Ayano will be replaced entirely (along with every other voice actor possibly)
Game will be completed in 2030, unironically
A little random, but I can see Crush Crush pulling out their collab
Next blog post will be a game update

wtf is up with s6 killian? TWO separate instances of hiding important shit from emma & others, he was honestly way better at truthing way back in season 3...... come to think of it, no, he's had a bunch of these fucking plotlines...
neal being alive (passed that one with flying colors)
the lip curse
his 4x04 hand being fussy
being darkmailed (its like blackmailed but by the dark one) in s4
the fate scissors
the killing granddaddy thing
boy doesn't seem to learn the lesson (its cuz the writers don kno what else to write him into, bc they need a reason fo emma to continue thinking everyones gon abandon her or play her or something)

Subnautica
I really wanted to like this game. I really did. I love open-world survival games and I’ve watched at least two, maybe three full playthroughs of Subnautica since its full release. It looked like exactly the sort of game I’d enjoy.
...Unfortunately, despite the beauty of the environment, the complex creatures, and the strong basic plot, the actual playable experience - everything after the Sunbeam went down and before I found the last research facility - left me disappointed.
The good, the bad, and the ugly are beneath the cut. Also, spoilers.
Tumblr media
The Good:
The Beautiful Environment
The Creatures
The Plot (when it’s present)
The Ending
The Bad:
It was excruciatingly slow
The lava slugs and stalkers
Lack of clarity and instruction
The hunger/thirst/oxygen mechanics
Resource allocation
The Ugly:
Glitches. So many Glitches.
Clipping
‘Accidental’ loss of playability
Playing behind/through the loading screen
Conclusion:
I think my expectations were too high going into this game. I expected so much to like it that I was surprised when it had some pretty serious problems and that made them seem all the more disappointing. In general, I’d recommend it for the impressively complex and beautiful world alone despite the somewhat lackluster integration of the plot.

How can I say it...
It doesn't have to be a war.
There are not two sides.
It's not like if you like Severus Snape you hate the Marauders.
Well, I used to hate James Potter, but now that I'm writing a fanfiction in the Marauder's era I can see the good and the bad in both sides.
(And of course it's a fix-it fic because I want everyone happy, sigh. But that's beside the point).
I hate being "anti". I can hate some character but usually I find something that I like even in them... If I care, of course. I love making headcanon.
It's possible to love all the pg, even when you know someone is lost forever.
