(bringing this question here because you and your followers know a lot abt ao3 it seems) ive noticed a lot of fics for very different things getting all thrown under the same tag on ao3, like if you click on their fandom tag they all take you to the same "videoblogging rpf" tag, and I'm wondering is there a way I can search for the specific fandom I want within that tag without getting thrown into the mess of all these different things together? I'm used to just clicking on the fandom tag for something like a tv show and finding only fics about that show so I have never had this issue until recently

It depends how the tags are wrangled. The minecraft people are wrangled in ways their fandom does not like, and waves of wank have come through about it before.

The best thing is to check out the tag page if the works page looks weird. That will show you what's going on with the wrangling.

listen, i know some of y'all probably haven't thought about hiddenblock or asagao in years. it had been a while for me before i got back into caddicarus. but something awful happened this morning.

i just happened to be on caddicarus' channel this morning, and i looked at the "channels" section and immediately noticed something was off.

this was not a good sign.

so i clicked on it...

...and everything was gone.

all the satire videos. all the songs. the hidden block promise. the caddy quick tricks. the smash melee rap. it's all gone.

i tried to look up archives...but it was as if he never made videos.

i scrambled to his twitter and he hasn't said anything. nor has he said anything on instagram. doesn't seem like fans have noticed either. i'm making this post to get the word out.

if youtube doesn't recover yungtown's channel, this would be 1/6th of hidden block history completely wiped - not even accounting for the other lost pieces of history such as the forums and the 2014 SGC panel.

PLEASE spread the word. let more people know about this.

I was also a Normal Boots Hidden Block enjoyer and your post just hits differently, the visual novel's existence really pales in comparison to the other things happening around it, the actual content creators, the bonds people made with each other from that fandom, and the sense of that fandom being such a time capsule of everyone in it.

tell me about it! and the fact that so much has disappeared...hidden block disbanded years ago and everyone either retired, still made videos but not videos about video games, or retooled their video game content and became more popular than they've ever been. i'll admit that i wasn't as big on normalboots (apart from jontron who i adored) but i do know that it's a shell of its former self these days.

there actually used to be a fandom wiki for hidden block and normalboots but it was sadly deleted. a lot of fanfic has been deleted, which i 100% understand since a lot of it was RPF...i took down all my caddicarus fic the moment i left the fandom because i'd found out at the point how harmful it was. 😬

but yeah. the stuff that still exists is such a nostalgic time capsule. whenever i look up hidden block or normalboots on google images, it still returns the exact same results from 2015-17. the same fanarts, the same photos, even the art one lovely person drew based on a crossover fic of mine (that caddicarus shared on facebook 😳)

i always played favorites with crossover fics lol...caddy, jon and ian were always the most prominently featured.

i could go on and on about my internet blorbos of old (ESPECIALLY caddicarus. i still have an encyclopedic knowledge of his show's history 💀) lol.
