The knotwork has roots in the Jelling style, and has been created to fit the area of the body for which design is intended. Mark is a bladesmith under the name Dancing Otter Forge and specialises in historically inspired weaponry. Another pixel dailies entry! I've always been fascinated by glass paperweights.

I'm still struggling a little with how light, color, and reflection work in pixel art. It's not something I've ever had a strong grip on in my other artworks either, tbh, but pixel art seems to amplify all those elements. Perhaps learning pixel art will help me improve in those areas!

I'm also still struggling to figure out the best size/way to post these things to tumblr...bigger image below, but I don't think it looks as good...

In more general terms, there are things and ingredients in life such as salt that never vanish, but morph into another form appearing again as a mark, stain, tears, sweat, from skin…With my art, I am working through old bumps of my past, that still today affect life, that still sting like salt in a wound. The paintings by the Helsinki based Finnish couple open up as visual poems about life. The surroundings of the everyday life and its wonders are the ingredients of the artwork. The paintings seem like open windows to what feels like infinity. With what first appears a simple expression, the paintings unfold into sense of depth and spaciousness, into a space in which we can project our own emotions and find intuitive illuminations. The more time we give to the paintings, the more we begin to see. Off the canvas seems to vibrate the presence of life and the comforting and joyous awareness of all that it has to offer.
