A constant smile plays on your lips as your eyes wander over the line of green trees. You watch the familiar scenery like this is the first time you see it. Wonder and amazement surge through your body as you focus your attention on the lush crowns, softly bending branches, and the quiet rustle of leaves. The melodic songs of birds mix with the relaxing sound of the waves that rock the boat under you.

"What are you thinking?" Legolas's voice comes from behind you. Soon, his arms are around your middle, and your back is against his chest. A few strands of his blonde hair fall over your shoulder as the wind make them dance in the air. "Nothing," you reply. "I'm just enjoying the view." "It's beautiful, isn't it?" He asks, following your gaze to the shining waves under the bright sunlight. "It is," you agree with a content sigh as you let your head fall against his shoulder. His lips brush over the line of your jaw. His warm breath fans over your skin as he speaks. "Are you sure you are ready? We can stay, you know? Wait for a few years." "No," you reply, shaking your head. Turning in his hold, you let your arms curl around his neck. His hands are gentle but steady on your waist. "I'm ready," you tell him. "I'm… tired… I'm old. I saw everything this land had to offer. It's time for me to move on. I miss Gandalf and the others." A soft smile plays on Legolas's lips as he watches you. Every memory of you is still vivid and clear in his mind from the first time you met and everything you two have been through since then. "I glad you come with me," he says. You laugh. "I'm glad I'm allowed to come with you." "I wouldn't go without you," he replies immediately. He doesn't even have to think about it. He has no desire to go where you can't follow him. "Good," you sigh again. "I wouldn't let you go anyway." The elf smirks at your confidence. "No?" "I'm sure your father would gladly give me a place in his dungeons." Legolas scoffs, his chest silently shaking against you. "I'm sure of it." A few minutes of calmness settles on both of you as you watch the forest and the bright blue sky in each others' arms. You will miss this land and almost every living thing on it and in it, but you are really ready to leave. It is the perfect time for it. "Gimli is coming," Legolas hums, making a few steps away from you to focus on the small path between the lush trees. A small smile pulls on your lips. "I don't remember," you tell him. "Who won the orc slaying contest?" "It doesn't matter," Legolas says. "I killed an oliphaunt." You laugh. "Gimli thinks otherwise." The blonde elf scoffs again but has no time to react further because Gimli's appearing form at the end of the path. His eyes glint with happiness as his gaze falls on you. "You are late," Legolas is the first one who breaks the silence. The dwarf gaze darkens, and he grunts in answer.

Frodo: A gay trans man and on the ace spectrum

Samwise: Bisexual and there's a reason I nickname him transwise gamgee. (samfro is t4t)

Pippin: Just a feral nonbinary guy (They/he) and is pansexual. he falls in love easily. Probalbly had a crush on everyone they met throughout the journey. (he even had a crush on tom bombadil because he liked his little gay songs)

Merry: Token straight out of the hobbits and is in love with eowyn, which is now his sexuality.... (I mean i dont blame him)

Boromir: Definitely not straight. I mean have you seen him? gay, absolutely gay

Aragorn: Straight but has questioned his gender many times.

Gandalf: The most aro/ace icon out there. Uses all pronouns. Will trans your gender and turn homophobes, transphobes and general bigots into toads. Move out of her way or you will be crushed by her heels.

Legolas: pretty fluid when it comes to gender, mostly uses he/they pronouns however he really doesn't mind anything else. He identifies as queer.

Gimli: he's a bear bisexual and will kill anyone who purposely misgenders another. He is dating his partner Legolas and has a lot of fun with them when they hunt down bigots.

Eowyn: She is bisexual and also loved merry (except they are both too scared to make the first move)

Faramir: Gandalf helped him transition when he was a child. All he wants is to be accepted by his father. Boromir loves that he has a brother. He is also unlabled.

Denethor: Repressed bisexual.

Arwen: I cant tell if shes straight or bi, but I’m leaning towards the latter

Elrond: The best dad in the world, but otherwise he is also straight.

Bilbo: The gay traumatized fun uncle. Obviously had a dwarf husband, but sadly is widowed. Now he sings his gay little songs and everyone adores him. mood tbh

Eomer: Straight but is extremely supportive of Gimli and Legolas that he cries whenever they do something sweet to one another. It gets worse when he's drunk.

Theodred: Hes not even really in the book but I need to spread my Boromir/Theodred rare pair ship. Hes bisexual obviously. 

Galadriel: Intersex, nonbinary (they/she) and has a hot trophy husband.

Celeborn: the trophy husband, a trans man and is queer. 

Saruman: He is the definition of the queer-coded villain. I mean his name is saurman of all colours and he literally transforms into a gay pride flag.

Tom Bombadil & Goldberry: They deserve to be grouped as one because they are the best representation of a queer platonic couple out there. Goals.

Rosie Cotton: Bi but doe sent really know it, but if she ever met Goldberry, she might then have her awakening.

I'd like to represent disabilities that I do not have, so I'm wondering what diasbilities or differences the community would like to see represented. Legolas and Gimli falling in love and dealing with the aftermath of the War of the Ring. These will be a mash-up of movie and book canon but lean more toward the books, plus my person flair from 20+ years in the LOTR fandom. I am trying to keep them fairly light but I'm a hurt-comfort lover at heart and my brand of fluff is more about healing than pure sweetness, so there will be themes of PTSD, grief, etc. However, the overall tone will be loving and optimistic.

(I'm going slow on this, so I doubt they'll all be done in October, but I am hoping to get quite a few prompts written eventually! Tags will be updated as I post; the overall rating will be either G or T.)

Aragorn supposed they thought they were clever.

He knew full well that the only reason Legolas and Gimli would spend long hours talking near the fire was because they believed him to be asleep.

If there was one thing Aragorn had learned while on their long road, it was how flirtatious you could make hacking spiders apart sound.

Ordinarily, Aragorn would smile in the dark and fall asleep to the sounds of his companions discussing the best use of certain herbs, or perhaps exchanging childhood misadventures.

But tonight Aragorn laid on his bedroll listening intently.

“It symbolizes that I am neither male nor female,” Gimli told Legolas, evidently showing him the braids adorning his beard—and Aragorn wondered if Legolas understood what it meant, to be shown a dwarf’s beard, but it did not seem to matter as Gimli’s words nestled between Aragorn’s ears.

I am neither male nor female.

“Oh,” Legolas murmured. “Yes, the Silvan folk have something similar. If a wood-elf gathers their hair behind their ears with certain braids, you can know that you must look past their appearance for their gender.”

Gimli snorted. “Imagine assuming one’s gender based on their appearance.”

Legolas let out what might have been a sad sigh. “Alas, my friend, we are not all like dwarves.”

The fire crackled and Gimli said, “Is that what your braids signal? I must confess to not having thought much of them.” “Yes,” Legolas said, voice almost lost in the sounds of the fire dying. “I do not truly hold to one or the other of the Men’s sexes, but have never really found the proper words to describe it in my own tongue. But I still wear the braids, though it is mostly to honour my mother’s heritage. It does not matter much to me what gender others assign me.” There was silence, and Aragorn turned what he’d just heard over in his head. He had known that some elves were neither male nor female, but had thought it a biological occurrence, like what sometimes happened in Men. But his companions’ words made Aragorn wonder if, perhaps, one’s gender was not determined by their genitalia. Legolas let out a soft laugh and Aragorn returned to the present with a bump. “So we truly are not that different after all! But you must tell me, Gimli—do you not wish me to use male pronouns when referring to you, friend?” Aragorn had not even considered that, but he still listened, fascinated, as Gimli hummed and replied, “When we are among friends, aye, I would rather be called ‘they’ than ‘he’. But you know how Men are.” “Aye,” Legolas said thoughtfully. “I do not think Aragorn would hold with the prejudices of Men. He was raised in Rivendell with the elves there, and he may have been living when the twins asked for their names to be changed, though I am not sure about when that was.” “Aye, and elves never hold prejudices,” Gimli said, but there was no heat in his—their?—voice, and Legolas laughed again. “And certainly there are none among the dwarves,” he teased. Legolas paused, then added, “But Estel—why so quiet?” Aragorn flinched and his throat went dry. “Forgive me, friends,” he croaked. “I did not mean to over hear.” “No, you didn’t,” Gimli agreed. “And I trust you, Aragorn, but I must ask—does it trouble you, knowing we are not male after all?” “No,” Aragorn replied, and it was the truth. He paused. “If I may—how do you know?” He sat up and watched his companions glance at each other—a natural reflex neither of them seemed to notice.

Legolas shrugged. “It was only after I became friends with someone like me that I realized that she and I were not so very different. Before I had not realized I was different from anyone else.”

“Dwarrow learn from a young age that there are not simply two genders, or even sexes,” Gimli added. They shrugged. “I suppose I just always knew.”

Legolas nodded. “Like Tauriel,” he said. “She always knew.”

“Thank you for telling me, my friends,” Aragorn said. He took a fortifying breath and glanced between them. “I—I had not thought.” His words stuck in his throat. “I had not thought there were others like me.”

warning: These are my less serious list, and are completely random but I think these are the most entertaining :D

-before the quest, sam would leave flowers at Frodo's door and he never knew who it was so he would press them in a book. He only found out after the quest and he used a few pages of the flower book into the red book of the westmarch

-Aragorn likes to collect rocks when he was a kid to show eleond and he was always like "Thats nice awww" and all that. He is 87 and he still does this.

-Arwen is a split image of her ancestor luthien, but Elrond says that she looks a lot like maglor with her hair.

- The children of the shire would play pretend with Bilbo's adventure, often led by Frodo and the tooks. Sam was old enough to start playing with them before they grew too old, and Frodo let him play Thorin one time, and him as course as Bilbo. This memory sticks with Sam too this day.

-Boromir is Aromantic

-Pippin convinced boromir to wear a skirt with him (It was Legolas's skirt) and he did not admit that he actually liked it.

-Pippin wears more fem clothing which really confused Denethor

-Legolas and Gimli eloped on the quest (Aragorn was their officiator)

-Eowyn starts a program in Rohan where she teaches young girl to sword fight & protect themselves.

-Frodo is a good artist and used to draw portraits of Sam, Pippin and Merry. After the quest, he stopped drawing people and focused on sketching out the landscapes that they passed by on the journey. Yet they were always creepy, and slightly distorted in an uncanny way. Elanor finds his old sketchbook one time and gets nightmares of weeks after.

-Merry and Pippin love really weird food combos. Mushrooms and honey? delish. Cherries and salt? yummy. Vinegar cake? even better.

They force every one of the fellowship to try one of these combinations. Aragorn doesn't notice anything bad, Sam eats it because he is polite, Frodo doesn't mind the mushrooms and honey, Boromir throws up, Gimli tells him he should add more meat and Legolas never felt more betrayed in his life.

Frodo: great weather. There's not a sun in the sky. Which sorta implies that there's just no sun at all and we're all quickly making our way towards death. Sam: Frodo, look, I found a rock on the ground. :)
