I am so sorry about the delayed response. Real life stuff happened. And thank you so much! *Blushing* I am glad that I could take your mind off things even if temporarily. I hope things get better soon. I really enjoy asking you things. Most people I know are not into CCS even if they are into anime and that really sucks. I actually came across a post of yours quite incidentally (the Chocomint one - I am in Team Chocomint out there with Sakura and Tomoyo, hehe) and then fell into reading a bunch of your other posts. And then I sent you my first ask and of course, there's that. Thank you so much again for the long responses. On a second note, can I just fangirl over how Syaoran thinks Sakura is cute. Like we knew he was smitten by Sakura's personality but I wholly appreciate the way Syaoran appreciates Sakura's beauty. The one scene where Sakura and Syaoran were on a second date to the botanical garden is so cute. It's almost as though he couldn't stop drinking in his girlfriend's beauty. And then his eyes softens in such a warm way once she expresses her desire to talk to him more. *Fangirls so hard*. Furthermore, you are right about the protected environment that CLAMP created for CCS. I love it because I always felt uncomfortable with overt depictions of sexuality (Let's be honest, most anime do a very poor job of handling consent and burgeoning adolescent sexuality). I come from a more conservative non-PDA Asian culture and I always felt uncomfortable with the way sexuality or intimacy were treated as jokes and punchlines. Frankly, I am of opinion that while sexuality does exist in CCS (there are far too many sleepovers at Yukito's place involving Touya and remarkable number of mentions of it), there just accorded the dignity and respect of privacy. Touya and Yukito are not used as punchlines or jokes to embarass the protagonist (or themselves) walking in on them in one of their more intimate moments. Like it exists in the CCS world but it is none of our business what these precious couples choose to do in their more intimate moments. Those moments are theirs and theirs alone to experience and cherish and I love that about CCS. For course, given the childlike gaze of CCS, it is quite understandable that CCS treats sexuality the way children do - they know something exists but they are not old enough to discern it. I really appreciate it. And I agree on that with you.

Aaaand now it's my turn to apologize because I did finish the new fanart, but I always need a couple of days of "rest" after I did one cause this stuff drains me emotionally and mentally 😅 I really use it as a way to vent and release feels...I kinda feel like Akiho these days, to be honest. Anyway! Please know that you can take all the time you need if you want to send a reply, I am very well aware of how much RL stuff takes the priority over fandom stuff!

Yes, seeing Syaoran appreciating openly Sakura's cuteness is really great to see, I think when they let us peek into his mind and heard him thinking, no, screaming in his head "She's so cute!!!!" in chapter 47, that was the peak for the SyaoSaku fandom 😆 He adores her smile and he's completely dependent on it! From an external POV it might seem trivial, nothing big about a young boyfriend commenting "cute" about his young girlfriend in his head, but I actually think it was a way from CLAMP to let us gently accustomed to the idea that Syaoran is growing up, and so he's starting to appreciate Sakura on multiple levels, if you know what I mean. Not big things yet but, you know...we're getting there, he's a teenager after all!

And I really like how you exposed the whole matter about sexuality in CCS. I absolutely think that the multiple "sleepovers" (at this point it almost seems like Touya moved in with Yukito for how often he stops by his home for the night) are definitely the strongest indication of the intimacy that there is between those two: as you said, they could be doing things, or even just enjoying the intimacy of sleeping together in the same room, we don't know and it's none of our business frankly. Because the story is trying to convey the feelings those two have for eachother through other aspects, other lens, not through how overt their expressions of affection are in public. That's why I shake my head everytime I find opinions like "I wish there was a kiss or a more explicit declaration of what Touyuki feel for eachother" cause that's not the flavor of this series at all. That's not how any of the characters express their love for eachother (and that's maybe what I meant when I said that "all characters receive the same treatment, kids and grown ups", and didn't express properly). If there's one thing I've understood about CLAMP, is that they're pretty averse to boxing their characters into definitions and customs....so they don't give precise definitions of what their characters are, what they do, you have to immerse yourself into their stories and infer those things from what the characters experience. Touyuki is not my main ship but I kinda get peeved when I see statements that diminish or invalidate their relationship, cause I think they're absolutely valid as they are!

And yes, I'm pretty sure CLAMP chose this approach because of the child gaze, but I also think that resonates with their personal views about relationships.

Why do I love Karin

Why do some fans of Sasuke devalue Karin and relay her to a comical background in the book?

First of all, your preferences are right to like Karin as a character or not, but to put down and devalue Karin to make Sakura shine instead does not serve Sakura as a character in any way.

I've read a lot of posts that devalued Karin as a kunoichi, as a woman and even the place she got in Sasuke's life, and whether you like it or not Karin was a full part of Sasuke's life as Kishimoto shows us several times.

The question I always wondered here is why Karin was introduced to be a character with such a great importance to be then reduced to Sasuke's old friend... Understand us here, as much as fans of the saga fight to defend the SNS in Kishimoto's book, the SasuKarin gets a significant place in the manga as well and Kishimoto left nothing to chance.

First, here are some canonical facts about Sasuke and Karin that are non-negligible:

- Karin is the kunoichi that Sasuke recognized and rated as the most powerful one he knew.

- Karin and her red hair as does every other canonical member of the Uzumaki clan, what was the main point here of implying that Karin was a member of that clan if not for Sasuke's interest in the Uzumaki clan itself with Naruto already.

-Sasuke always took care of Karin during their expeditions with the Hebi team and even more during the moments of the Taka team and I don't think here that he was taking care of her because he recognized her weakness, even if it is real to admit that Karin is not an offensive ninja but rather occupies a healer position. Beside that, it is not negligible also to underline that Sasuke had the faculty to regenerate his chakra much more quickly since the absorption of Orochimaru.

- Sasuke developed a new power from his MS for her and only for her. Canonically, we learn how the Sharingan works thanks to the expert of the Uchiha, Tobirama Senju. He explains that the loss of a loved one influences in the brain of the members of the Uchiha clan a surprisingly powerful chakra flow and then comes into conjunction with the optic nerves and thus unleashes the Sharingan, in other words, the eyes that reflect the feelings of the heart. So for Sasuke to be physically able to trigger such a power to save Karin, it is that he is canonically attached to her, whether it is simple friendship to a more powerful bond. In any case, a powerful bond unites them.

- Sasuke loves tomatoes and the color red, I let you guess who has red hair and the cold-bloodedness worthy of Kushina Uzumaki...well ok this one was rather a fun fact than an important canonical fact but still.

If you have never read the manifesto that Skania wrote about SasuKarin, read it, it is a pure gem of an analysis and no lies were used to support the facts, everything is only based on the canon of history.

Several other characters also talk about the Sasukarin and yes Sasukarin is not just a figment of our imagination...

For example: Suigestu loves to make fun of Karin's feelings for Sasuke because he knew how to see the true side of Karin tsundere.

He mentions at one point that

his passion is to cut things in two

and of course, this refers to the fact that he is one of the last swordsmen of the mist and for Samehada but

it also refers to Sasuke and Karin...

that he tries to annoy so that the two never have the opportunity to link in any way. So it is possible to believe here that Suigestu himself admits that Sasuke and Karin could become one thing, a unity.

Obito or Tobi still at that time, insisted that he understood why Sasuke had chosen HER, and why he had acknowledged her as HIS FAVORITE.

I can immediately see Karin's haters, coming up and meaning "yes But Karin is just a fan girl just like Sakura" or "Sasuke also tried to kill Karin".. and to both I answer a NO.

Karin is far from being a fangirl of Sasuke or at least not at all like Sakura. These two women have absolutely different behavior towards Sasuke. Where Sakura doesn't put any limit when it comes to Sasuke, Karin knew how to put some,  after being stabbed by Sasuke, she agrees to end their collaboration on the spot and is not willing to forgive him without a valid apology. Beside that, I also refuse to say that Sakura behaves like a doormat in front of Sasuke, I think that Sasuke's cold attitude and his multiple reproaches made Sakura grow up and pushed her to give the best of herself in order to be able to catch up the gap drawn between her and her two companions of the team 7. But no, we are not here to talk about Sakura. Karin is literally the definition of a tsundere, meaning she is cold and rigid or even mean on the outside but tender and sweet on the inside. Moreover, she never lets herself be driven by her own feelings but tries to make herself as useful as possible to Sasuke in order to please him. I would mean that one thing that Sasuke and Karin also have in common is their love language. Indeed, both of them would be at first sight of the type: "acts of services" because yes to make happy the people who are dear to them, they both like to make themselves useful. Karin is aware that she has been chosen by Sasuke especially to help him, but this does not prevent her from often contradicting his plans or moralizing him on some points, and Sasuke, unlike the hard and cold Sasuke that we could know with Sakura or Naruto even with Suigetsu, never means anything very mean to Karin, he keeps his calm with her.

Then, yes Sasuke has officially stabbed Karin but all this remains to be taken with a pinch. First of all, he didn't attack Karin directly but Danzo, who after realizing that Sasuke's hatred would eventually cause his loss, took Karin in a last strategic move in order to test Sasuke's will to end it all for good (the guy really has no scruples about anything). So he imposed a difficult choice to Sasuke, the one to choose between his reason and his ultimate goal to get revenge. I remind you that at this moment, even Karin didn't recognize him anymore and meant that he was now totally consumed by hate.

Sasuke's face during this event, tells a lot of things, I'm not sure that having to impale Karin with a chidori made him happy because Karin was never a target for him, quite the contrary, while he spent many moments watching her back and saving her life. But if you pay attention to the details, on the first panel, Sasuke tells Karin not to move, and on the second panel Sasuke throws his chidori sword to stab Danzo and hit him at a vital point but not Karin because Karin being smaller than him, he only stabbed her through and through but didn't hit any vital point concerning Karin so his goal despite his express need of revenge against Danzo for destroying his life, he didn't want to sacrifice Karin Because yes the word "SACRIFICE" has an important place in this part of the manga (I will certainly make a post about it)

Just look at his death glare:

Karin, after having been indirectly attacked, falls to the ground, exhausted from having healed Sasuke a few minutes before. And even if Tobi proposes to Sasuke to end Karin's life, possibly out of the goodness of his heart, but also so that she doesn't give any information about Akatsuki or Sasuke to Konoha, because yes Tobi doesn't know her personally and can't trust her as much as Sasuke does. I sincerely think that Sasuke never intended to end Karin's life, because, let's be serious, the guy managed to stab Danzo who was preparing another "Izanagi" and thus beat him in terms of speed, but takes a good 10 minutes to load a chidori again to kill Karin, clearly leaving time for Sakura and the others to arrive. 

We have known the boy to be more determined than that.

Even though in the end the final canon disappointed us all a lot by letting SasuSaku come in, I did enjoy Kishi's little joke in Boruto, hinting that Karin could have been Sarada's biological mother. I think all this was not done randomly, the fact that Kishimoto revived the ship war, was really to piss off all the fans of SasuSaku's ship and it worked well, I saw some of them having white hair and cold sweat when they read that for the first time, I laughed a lot guys.

Honestly, I appreciate that the current Boruto canon shows us a Karin who has matured a lot and has managed to get over her feelings for Sasuke. I also appreciate that the Taka team has always remained the same despite Sasuke's departure, Karin, Suigetsu and Juugo finally are best friends and I prefer their situation thousands of times over Sakura's, I mean it frankly; Karin has been much better served than Sakura here and I thank Kishimoto for that.

I'ma just go ahaead and say it louder for the people in the back:" IF YOUR SHIP HAS TO BE CONTINUED/EXPLAINED THROUGH POINTLESS EXTRA NOVELS, A FANFIC MANGA AND A FUCKING MOVIE THEN IT'S INVAILDDDDD.(to NH and SS shippers).

I mean seriously, you don't see them releasing more content explaining Naruto and Sasuke's friendship/relationship. This is because it was already explained and explored in the ORIGINAL series therefore they don't need anything else to help push it out. It was livable from the beginning. EVEN A SIDE SHIP LIKE SHIKATEMA DOESN'T NEED MUTIPLE NOVELS, SPINOFFS OR A MOVIE FOR VIEWERS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS ALREADY BELIEVABLE!!

For real. You could remove Sakura from part 2 and it wouldn't affect Sasuke's character at all. And even in part 1 you could replace Sakura with any other weak fangirl and you'd get the same result. The two never had a meaningful, profound conversation and Sakura never understood anything about Sasuke. Their relationship is non-existent.

Hinata got beaten up in front of Naruto, so Naruto beat Neji for her, and then forgot about her. Hinata got almost killed in front of Naruto, and he forgot about her. Neji died in front of them and she slapped Naruto and then he forgot about her for two more years lol. And even then the ship needed Hinata and Hanabi being kidnapped, Sakura playing a wingman and a genjutsu to get Naruto pay any attention to Hinata. Talk about pathetic... Naruto is the only thing Hinata cares about yet even getting with him she wasn't able to do on her own.

Hi! How has your fandom experience been so far? Do you ever feel burnt out?

Naruto Fandom as a whole = Tear-Wiping & Woobification of their Favourites by shamelessly blame Shifting, Projecting non-existent Mental Illness and Romantic feelings, Playing Pain Olympics, Victimizing their fav while Antagonizing other sub-fandom. 

[ **Am sorry, Every character tags, I go into tumblr, they play this PTSD card and absolve their shittiness which is totally stupid.. when In Canon none of the characters display such symptoms for a prolonged period** ]

However, I found the right people from the other sub-fandom who don't spoon-feed & apologize for their favs and simply Call A Spade, A Spade. They adhere to canon and stick to the facts. So, it makes this place nice.

As for SNS Fandom - Extremely One-Sided (Sasuke-sided), Boring, Dull, Unfunny, Passive - Aggressive, Back-Bitching and Homogeneous Wannabe ((Meaning: If you don’t agree with the majority... then you are bullied))

My time for the 1 whole year I’ve spent in this SNS Fandom is majorly (98%) AWESOME, felt Blessed. Majorly due to the Anons who send me asks.

The Type of Asks I am receiving will never cease to amuse me. Not gonna lie, more than writing an answer, I always enjoy reading Anon Asks. Some of the asks, I don’t even want to let them leave my Inbox, I want to keep it forever, cradling like a baby. LOL... Some of the Asks, I feel like "Anon, You really should post this in your own blog and I want to reblog it.. Damn Good!!!"

So, I'll just attach something memorable.

THE FIRST ASK.  Everything started from here.....

My very first Ask. 

I don't know why that Anon decided to send me an ask... Considering, I only made one post before... But I still treasure that one. Also, it’s very hilarious that I genuinely thought Kishimoto made NH because Hinata was popular. Also, I thought those wedding episodes were drawn by Kishimoto. LOL. Coz, I didn’t finish reading the manga at that time.

So, A Big Thanks for that Anon... 

ANONS BE - FUNNY AF...... LMAO

And then Some Anons are Extremely funny... Like Mad funny to the point of making me smile in places where I shouldn’t be... I am a person who adores people with great sense of humour... I easily become friends with them if they keep on cracking jokes....

Poor Anon... I always headcanon myself to offer my Winter Jacket to this poor soul if they ended up watching that Movie...

This Anon has an amazing Dark Humour... I don’t know what this Anon has against Kiba.... But it’s just hilarious af.

Here’s the thing.. Even if you, readers, don’t agree with what I write, atleast you could try reading the Anons question which would definitely ease off your mind for sure. 

ANONS BE - EXTREMELY OBSERVANT

If Hilariousness is one side... Then I must say, Being Observant is another side... 

For example, 

I was mentioning in many of my posts that Sakura’s character is not a Bad Writing.. instead there was an intention behind why she was written like that... I mentioned about this fact in a casual manner without any emphasis on it.... And one anon picked up my words and asked Why is that... And that became one of the lengthy post I’ve written so far which has nothing to do with SNS but it ended up being SNS... 

In this Post, I casually mentioned that Sasuke is not an Arrogant person, in a random line... That ask was totally about Naruto’s Aesthetic appeal inside Narutoverse. But our SNS blogger (larrycherry07), pointedly asked me about that sentence as to why I feel that way... And I ended up making a lengthy post about Sasuke’s Arrogance .

Similarly, In this post, I was talking about how Kishimoto started to screw up SS/NH/NS/SK starting from Pain Arc.... and I just casually added a line as to how Kishi made Madara dirty... as a casual mention... And then another anon picked that line and asked me as to Why I feel Madara was nerfed like clown... And That became another lengthy post..

So, you see... The Anons are extremely Observant and when I get ask like that, I simply get astounded as to, “Yaaayy!!! People are reading even my lengthy rants and are paying attention to it... But on the other hand I should be extra responsible & careful about what I write, from here onwards”...

ANONS BE - TELEPATHIC

Just when I want to write a single post about some topic... Some telepathic anon would send an Ask reflecting what was in my mind, right out of nowhere and I am like... “....”..... Shocked to the core. 

Like how do they do that???? I swear, this can’t be happening in any other fandom, Right???

ANONS BE - HETEROGENOUS (being diverse)

One of the best thing I enjoy about these anons are... They really want to know about other stuffs too. i.e, things that doesn’t have anything to do with SNS or even SS/NH.... Someday, I get an ask about Deidara. Another day I get an ask about Obito. 

Which shows, they are invested in this series as a Whole just like I do... Which makes me feel truly connected to this Fandom.

ANONS BE - DESCRIPTIVE (SINCERE)

Most of the Anons send me ask explaining what they mean, why do they feel certain way and how do they come to that conclusion... And then they ask what do I think about those. You could clearly see the sincerity in their thought process and genuinely want to know more about this series. One such ask is this...

Again, this doesn’t only pertains to SNS but this also extends to other plotlines as well. This is something I wish that could’ve happened in other platforms back when I was a new comer to this fandom... 

ANONS BE - ‘EXPLAIN THIS’ (correcting my stance)

There is this ask where the Anon was asking my contradictory meaning to two similar things... I mean, In one of my previous posts, I’ve said “Sasuke catched Sakura and thanking her silently” and In another post, I’ve said, “Sasuke made a silent apology to Naruto through Tears in Chapter 698... Like he doesn’t need words”... So, it looks both of the acts are similar in nature.... And the Anon was asking my explanation... 

Which shows, they read my posts carefully... And remembers what I write... They connect the dots together and want to know more about it. If there’s any contradiction, they’d like to ask me about that as well... Which is very cool of them, tbh. 

ANONS BE - THOUGHT PROVOKING

Okay. Let me tell you.... Not every opinions are strongly developed from my own head... Sometimes, Anons help me develop it... Like, you subconsciously know about something but you won’t realize it or even spend your time to bother thinking about it... And then some Anon would randomly send an Ask and it’d just flare my subconscious thoughts up and help me hit the Euphoria.... 

One such moment was... 

After receiving this amazing Ask...

When I got that ask... it never gave me any sense of Epiphany... I casually answered what I felt at that time... Which is very evident from my changed current opinions as compared to that ask... [[ Not only women characters’ arc revolve around men... But men characters’ arc also revolve around men.. Which I didn’t realize before... I legit thought Kishi drew Hinata in an Obscene way... LOL ]]

But after sometime, when I started to ask myself some questions, “Why didn’t the author made Sakura and Hinata to be likeable??? Like why? I even love Obito who did everything wrong... but somehow I couldn’t bring myself to like these girls... What must be the reason?”

And whenever I ask these kind of questions related to women characters... I keep coming back to this ask... 

Then I started paying attention towards Tsunade more and more... And Realized she is not only a secondary side character but also developed with more attention. Like she has a Backstory... She has a Dream that doesn’t have anything to do with Dan... She is independent... She is Strong... She was given a position of Power... She wasn’t written to be like a bimbo with just boobs with no personality... All for a side character.... And I wondered, why didn’t Kishimoto did the same with Sakura though??? 

Then only these lines from that ask struck me...

I don't believe Kishi can't write romance, I also don't believe he can't write at least halfway decent female characters, he just chose not to... I felt like sensei not only deliberately wrote the women in a bad light, he made something akin to the development of something romantic, just to later deliberately sabotage them.

So, that’s why???!!!! 

The Author intentionally want us to hate these two women so that we would notice SNS bond better otherwise we would end up shipping NH/SS... And that’s why he sabotaged them at every given chance???? 

Then only I started to piece together the purpose of these women as a Beard... And also I realized that Kishi is not that misogynistic monster the fandom claim him to be... Instead I felt he is more disinterested in anyone who is not Naruto and Sasuke. Be it male or female.... 

I mean I subconsciously had no problems with Kishimoto’s writing of Women characters... It’s only after I got into the fandom I kept hearing these claims... But that ask totally flared up my inner thoughts more and more... And it confirmed many things in the long run... Which made me write so many post on that topic. 

Thanks to that Ask... which actually helped me realize something great about the Author’s nuances...

(Some ask had negatively affected me though, which I’ll explain in my other post tomorrow)

Now tell me, How many fandoms out there could say that they have people who could share and discuss their thoughts in a Funny, Sensible, Thought Provoking, Sincere manner all the while being super polite??? ON A CONSISTENT BASIS....??? I mean, in the Past 1 year... there’s not many days that goes without a post from me... Almost everyday, I post something... And 95% of those asks are unique in nature...

Well, yes... I get Hate Asks from time to time... But all of them are totally negligible and trivial when compared to all the other meaningful asks I receive.

And Yes... I don’t like this NS/SN discourse at all... Especially one having the moral high ground and invalidating the other based on Headcanons.

SNS fandom maybe boring and unfunny, sometimes downright irritating because of the passive aggressiveness & relentless one-sidedness.

If Sakura was so popular why is she one of the most universally hated female characters of all of anime and manga? I mean seriously you ask a fan of other series who are a fan of Naruto and you will likely hear them say Sakura is one if not their least favorite characters. This was the case long before the fandom lost their shit with Sakura not ending up with Naruto I've heard nothing but non-stop Sakura bashing anybody can go to forms before 2014 on any website and you will see soccer bashing almost Non-Stop these fans completely revise history and count on people being ignorant of the state of the Naruto fandom before the end of the manga.

I'm just being more and more convinced that most Sakura fans just hate the Naruto franchise in general and only like Sakura out of spite they're sad and pathetic people who can't move on that their shitty ship was never Canon and their stupid shit ruined what could have been a good Naruto movie I'm referring road to ninja that could have been great had it not forced a shitty ship that was never going to be Canon. I'm sorry if I'm come off as an angry Hinata fan who's sick and tired of dealing with a bunch of bullies who had done nothing productive with their lives except harass other fans and creators and act like complete children I can't name a signal fandom in any anime that's worse than Sakura if anyone can name one worse I Will Wait cuz I can't find any.

I know what you mean they are in denial, like Sakura had her moments, but 99% of the fandom are aware of how bad she is and notice all the bad things about her and her character and what she does.

Sakura fans try to convince themselves that Sakura is popular, but that was never the case, even in the official polls Sakura only gets votes cause she is shown so much since she is on the main characters teams. Every time Sakura is show you can easily pick out so many negative things about what is happening, what she does or how she acts. Sakura fans are the minority in that they refuse to see how bad Sakura is and basically hate the rest of the fandom and Naruto franchise out of spite.

Road to Ninja would have been really good without it forcing the NaruSaku parts. Like really it could focused more on how Naruto takes RTN Hinata loving him. Even if it wasn't canon would have been nice to see Naruto getting flustered over Hinata and for her to give some heartfelt words for why she looks him. Plus Menma clearly wasn't interested in RTN Sakura so likely he would have gotten with Hinata sooner. They could have made a contrast since Menma seems to have given in to hatred and how people mistreated him after he became a Jinchūriki and how while his life was nice it wasn't all good as Menma wouldn't have gone through the big events that lead to Naruto finally earning acceptance from the village.

And RTN Hinata's personality could have been somthing she developed cause she wanted to defend Menma from the public criticism he got after he became a Jinchūriki. You know how normal Hinata couldn't approach Naruto due to her family crushing her confidence it could have been the opposite with RTN not having her confidence crush and instead becoming protective of Naruto. However because of Sakura he mistakes Hinata for a fangirl. Also having RTN Naruto be the only one to figure out that Naruto wasn't Menma on her own but still notice how similar they are.

They could have played around with the movie in a lot of ways if they didn't force the NaruSaku parts. It's really annoying as it was made after Pain, but also after Hinata and Naruto had that Zetsu scene during the war. Basically feels like the team had NaruSaku fans who weren't happy about NaruHina gaining momentum and tried to force the end ship to get changed by putting NaruSaku as the movie focuses in hopes it would gain traction.

Characters: Yasude Denji (LSTF!Alphys “Nori” - Centipede Pillar), Oda Adachi (LSTF!Undyne “Oda” - creator and only user of the WATERFALL Breathing Style), Aoi Akane (LSTF!Sans “Slugger” - HATE/Lotus Hashira), Daisuke Agawa (LSTF!Papyrus “Spike” - Trap Pillar), Shinogu Kikori/"Shōri" (SLSTF!Sans “Knout” - Solitude Pillar/Breathing?)

Naruto: huu boy. P13!Naruto-verse: (name still needed for the story, P13! is a reference to a completely different something else): A story with these major change-ups: Naruto is a year above the Rookie 9/aka Lee’s generation (and consequently doesn’t know/hasn’t really interacted with the rest of Konoha 13). Naruto is not the jinchuurinki-container for the Kyuubi/Kurama - his parents are still restricted information though, but at least he’s seen more of Kakashi and Jiraiya than canon!naruto, even if it’s distant and strained (kakashi is in no way able to step into being more than the emotionally-clearly-not-okay occasional visitor into P13!Naruto’s life). Naruto leaves Konoha (but doesn’t join another village - in actuality, he straight-up leaves through another dimension, but as literally no one knows Naruto is labelled as a missing-nin). Sasuke is the jinchuurinki of the Nine-Tails/Kurama - this changes some things but the Uchiha massacre still happens. Sai is an Uchiha (who lives with his adoptive civilian parents - Sai is not part of the Clan compound and the traditions, but he is of Uchiha blood) and never joined Root. Sakura is much less/not even a fangirl for Sasuke. Team 7 is Kiba, Sakura, and Sasuke - Team 8 is Hinata, Shino, and Sai. Sasuke is friendlier and more open and has actual friends - Shikamaru, Sai, Shino, and eventually the rest of Team 7 as well. Story is focused on Sasuke instead of Naruto. Characters: Naruto (pre-Departure), Sasuke (currently pre-Chunnin Exams), Sai Sumitobu (same age as Sasuke) 

Papillion Arbor: story focused on Shinrai Aburame, who is an older Aburame cousin who gradually recovered meta-knowledge memories but fully considers himself to be Shinrai, Aburame in clan and spirit. Probably set a few years earlier than Naruto-era; we’ll have to see because this one’s plot is completely unformed right now. Characters: Shinrai (chunnin-times? 26-going-on-14 years old) (title needed): Asaha Fukushima, an orphaned civilian-born boy who takes care of/adopts another younger civilian boy while trying to keep everything he cares about safe - “titled” the “second coming of the Copy-ninja” because of how quickly he picks up skills - unreally fast learner. Nearly-sensor -like extrasensory touch - a little like Inosuke’s? - plus having some Nara blood from his grandfather - water element. Naruto still in Academy era. Characters: Asaha Fukushima (chunnin-time, currently Kakashi’s apprentice and not immediately tied to a plot arc - 27-going-on-14 years old), Hachi Asahi (Asaha’s ward/adoptive younger brother, Academy-age 11 years old)

(title needed, probably a name that somehow references “spring”): A story focusing on Monshō Kandō, the adopted-but-also-blood child of Rock Lee - set in the “blank period”/after The Last. Slice-of-life theoretical-fic, mostly about friends and friendship. Monshō Kandō, in addition to the other half of their name (Monshō Kandō has a very long name on legal documents), they also are known by Kawasemi, King Catcher, and Utsukushī (literally: beautiful), the name that Lee gave them before he discovered the actual name they were born with. Characters: Kawasemi, who is currently in Suna (Kawasemi is a Title like Shikabane-hime is a Title for Silver Queen’s Shikako Nara - used frequently but not actually their name) - technically should be called Utsukushī Lee. Chunnin-time - 18-going-on-16 years old.

TEAM APOTHEOSIS: Asaha, Kawasemi, and Myōjōsen (the main character Aburame from another story - the main thing to know about her is that she’s pretty feral and has centipedes integrated in her body in ways the Aburame have never seen before and speaks like an Inuzuka) find themselves in the Dead Wastes (yes this is really where Silver Queen’s DoS!Stones of Gelel arc culminates - keeping the location but not actually involving the Stones of Gelel), and decide to ‘might as well’ do whatever while they’re here - Gaara suddenly gets three baffling but affectionate missing-nin-guardian-friends? Characters: Baki (what am I thinking, how can I write him?? Maybe later), Gaara (not refined enough for this yet, but maybe in the future), Kawasemi (jonin-rank) 20 years old, Asaha (jonin-rank) 20 years old,  Myōjōsen (jonin-rank) 21 years old.

(title?): Asaha is reborn (again) this time as Shikimizu Nara, older cousin to Shikamaru, and this time his story revolves around being the bestest friend to/for Shino, original plot outside of the Rookies, and becoming Kakashi’s apprentice - Shikamizu gains the battle name of the “Shallow Balance” - they use ninja-wire to string their environment to run on the taut threads. Characters: Shikamizu Nara (currently Academy-days - 24-going-on-11 years old)

The Amber Firefly - Shino suddenly finds himself in the Senju-Uchiha War and is taken in as an obvious Aburame by the Aburame Clan of the era as a Prophet - that’s all the premise i’ve got for the moment but this un’s a real idea. Shino’s slightly different from canon, but we’ll get to that later. Characters: Shino (神託/Shintaku-sama/Prophet) - The Last when he was actually back where he was supposed to be - 18-going-on-14 years old.

Sunea to Kensei no Sanshō̄o (Snares and Feints of the Salamander): story follows Gekkeiju Hikōkai (English: Hikōkai Gekkeiju) once they meet Naruto while on ANBU jinchuurinki-watching duty - haven’t written a plot yet but it probably focuses on being ANBU/jounin and interactions like that. Characters: Hikōkai (currently ANBU Sanshō̄o - what this means is after they have been taken off Naruto-watching duty in which they were ANBU Kōjaku) - 25-going-on-23 years old

Yorumungando Kōtei no Gekkō Sunea (Snares of the Great Jormungandr's  Moonbeam): Remixed Snares and Feints! -  Hikōkai is now Itachi, but with a twist - Fugaku and Mikoto are moved generations up so they’re in the Minato-Jounin Era.  Hikōkai renames himself/themself as just Kōkai, or Tsukiakari.  Kōkai now adapts and considers himself male, and also is struggling to act as Itachi-like as possible while being scrutinized from all sides. Kōkai‘s best friends are Shisui and Ensui Nara. Luckily tensions haven’t risen so high that Kōkai needs to immediately worry about the Massacre, but that’s still probably in the cards with how the tensions were slowly rising. Characters: Tsukiakari/Kōkai Uchiha (genin-times, ??-sensei need to develop later) - 25-going-on-24-going-on-11 years old (yeah...)

Adiantum Raddianum (the scientific name for the maidenhair fern): First take on the is-Sasuke/Uchiha-after-the-massacre trend: Makano “Mako” Uchiha is a non-native-speaking former recreational wilderness survivor who upon waking up in class as Makano, starts living life like in a dazed dream - Makano doesn’t understand the native language and doesn’t care enough to devote themselves to learning more than a little; Mako ends up learning four phrases/words by the time they meet their genin team. “See" (ウォッチ/U~otchi, used for many things in half negative, sarcastic, and faintly approving manner), "tonbo" (dragonfly, for virtually anything Maka approves of. People haven't quite figured out what this means yet, because Dragonfly is patently unhelpful when describing food or generally anything in particular), Kekkōdesu (no thanks. a pretty helpful thing to learn even when it also gets mistaken for things and causes misunderstandings), and hai, which is one of the earliest and easiest things that Mako learned while listening to people talk. Makano is placed onto Team 3, under Gekkō Hayate. Story mostly focuses on Team 3′s missions and some betweens - Makano is older than Sasuke and also doesn’t bother trying to mingle with the Rookies beyond being around Shino and Shikamaru. Characters: Makano (genin-days) - 22-going-on-9 years old

(title needed): second attempt at is-Sasuke/other Uchiha massacre survivor: Mitorori Uchiha. Mitorori... doesn’t believe that this is real. As in, directly inspired by Julyflame’s Come From the Holy Fire, Mitorori believes this is a dream - in turn, he uses this “dreamspace” to release stress from his work/life - Mitorori is even more aggressive and irreverent than in his real life. Cue aggressive Uchiha punkish boy shoving himself into matters that don’t concern him. Characters: Mitorori (Academy days - 10 years old)

Hanabira Sasuke: Third attempt at is-Sasuke/other Uchiha massacre survivor: “Shikichi” (Threshhold) Sasuke Uchiha started off waking up in Iruka’s classroom as Sasuke. Story currently only has plot for Academy days - Shikamaru and eventually the rest of the Rookies start to pick up that Sasuke’s... acting off, they nonverbally start accommodating and bonding around him - Sasuke Protection Squad! Shikichi calls himself that internally because it’s one of the first words he learned to read in Japanese - of course he’s sort of aware that he can’t actually start calling himself that because he has a “real” name - but eventually this’ll probably get discovered by Shikamaru and he’ll go by both. Characters: Shikamaru (Academy - 7 years old), “Sasuke” (Academy - 20-going-on-7 years old)

Old Naruto AU Idea - Sakuracentric

So, I’m a huge fan of the Non-Fangirl Sakura trope but I wanna add to it:

Sakura being a complete bookworm and curious about the world. So she researches every single thing she can learn about, especially different jutsus.

But she hides the fact she’s super smart because people are less likely to expect her and lessen their guard around her. When she reveals this to Naruto and Sasuke, they were bits of horrified and impressed. Mostly disturbed.

This leds to her developing one of her own at an early age. The jutsu: using her blood by turning it into steel weapons to fight. (See Kyoukai no Kanata for reference) I also see her using her blood into steel strings for battle.

Pros: She becomes a self-taught swordsman and is pretty good bc of all her studying.

Cons: She gets faint very easily and if overworked, coughs up blood. (but in the comic way like FMA:B)

In the AU, she’s still super strong but she lacks confidence in herself despite being kinda on par with Naruto and Sasuke.

She is super smart but completely reckless, so she’ll throw herself in danger most of the time without any thought and it gives Team 7 daily heartattacks. I want a Disaster Child Sakura.

Part 1 would have her developing her jutsu further. Which is turning the blood in her skin into steel- giving her full-body shield and claws in Part 2.

She and Sasuke have more of playful and deep interaction with each other bc she’s not focused on love. I’m a huge SasuSaku shipper but I’m bittersweet at how things kinda ended. (please don’t hurt me)

If not Sasuke, go for Naruto. If not Naruto, go for Sasuke. Do what you want.

And for tragic past, I thought she could be from an out of village clan that Itachi kills for the Akatsuki but she escapes and he doesn’t kill her. Instead, she gets her memory wiped and somehow makes it to the Leaf Village. (I’m not confident in this idea. You can take it or leave it)

But anyways, I called this AU...The Blood Blossom AU.

Not even grainy resolutions of webcam cameras and shitty internet connections can ever hide her wide-blown grin. May it be over a monitor, your smartphone or in person, Haruno Sakura’s smile will always be as beautiful as its owner. And it’s even much brighter now that her team is singing her happy birthday through her computer screen.

Boisterous laughter followed after all the singing because was that Lee-san who croaked that last note?

“That was awful, Eyebrows!”, laughed Naruto, some dramatic tears leaking from the corners of his happy blue eyes and his tongue slipping the familiar nickname outside work. “Was that you or you have a pet frog?” The addressed man cannot be seen beyond his webcam because he was busy lying under his desk because Sakura-san! I have failed to sing the best happy birthday song! Shame on me!

Almost choking on her drink, Tenten interrupted, “Hey Naruto, we’re still technically at work even though we’re working from home. Stop with the nicknames until later!”

“C’mon, buns! It’s not as if Boss is here to murder us with his glare! And it’s just another 10 minutes before our shift ends; we need to celebrate Sakura-chan's birthday at least!”, the blond whined as an answer.

“Aww, thanks so much guys!”, Sakura smiled. “Naruto, stop teasing Lee-san. And listen to Tenten, we still need to be professional while we’re still at work. I wish we are together at the office though! I would’ve loved to celebrate with you all, too.”

Another blue-eyed, blonde person answered. “Ugh, tell me about it. I’d rather be at the office right now and listen to Naruto’s obnoxious voice than be with a lazy ass and be bored out of my mind like someone over here..” Ino’s annoyed face and an even more annoyed voice rang through their earphones and speakers, noting the emphasis on some words about her boyfriend who rolled his eyes. In the background, you can hear Tenten’s Language!

They can all see Shikamaru, the boyfriend, who simply smirked, looked sideways at his workmate/girlfriend and lazily drawled, “You love this lazy ass.”

Series of ‘OHHHHHH’ can be heard from Kiba, Tenten and Naruto while Lee choked some more and laid again under his desk. Sakura just laughed at her best friend’s face because Ino was trying so hard not to blush that she covered her almost-red face and slapped Shikamaru’s arm at reach. Sakura even heard the man chuckled under his breath.

“Shika, you smooth fucker,” Kiba teased. “Teach us your ways!”

Tenten growled, “Inuzuka, if you don’t shut the fuck u-”

“Weren’t you the one who said to remain professional and mind our language while at work, Tenten-san?”, Lee’s head came up to peek onto the camera and asked his innocent question. He ducked again when the brunette’s eyes flashed for a second and escaped before she unleashes her rage on him.

Sakura’s laughter was light and happy, her green eyes sparkling with mirth. These people’s faces on her screen belong to not just her team at work but her friends. Her second family. Or maybe third? she thought.

They spend more than 40 hours a week together whether it be stressing over clients at work, drinking coffee at the pantry, pizza parlor visits after shift, and ice creams every payday. And now that she realized that it has been two long months since they worked from home, now at their last day of quarantine, let alone on her birthday, she misses them. Terribly so.

“I miss you guys. Really,” she said, her voice a bit lower than usual, which means she’s serious. Her friends saw it and immediately stopped their bickering. “I didn't have anyone before until Naruto and Ino came along. Then came Tenten, then Shikamaru... until Kiba and then lastly, Lee-san. It’s been 10 years since my first celebration with the blonds, but I feel like I’ve been celebrating it with all 7 of you ever since.” She smiled again, “Thank you for always being with me on my day.”

A few moments passed and finally, a chorus of incomprehensible words were heard through Sakura’s speakers because they all reacted at the same time:

“Sakura-chaaan! Don’t be sad! I’ll be sad too!”

“Cut... hik... cut the drama f-forehead! I d-.. I don’t want it!... hik...”

“Ah... now you want me to fall for you now, huh? Stop, damn it Sakura..”

“Girl, don’t touch my fucking heart like that. You already know we got you always.”

“SAKURA-SAAAAAAAAAN!!!”

Sakura watched it all with glowing eyes and a full heart. She looked one by one on their blurry little faces and she felt love just seep through her pores. She’s finally seeing them next week since the quarantine is finally over and there will be no need to hide from the pandemic that affected the rest of the world.

They’re still busy reeling over Sakura’s mini birthday speech and the rosette is overwhelmed with emotions when they heard Shikamaru asked, “Seven?”

“Huh?”, Sakura confusedly asked back.

“We’re only six here, excluding you, but you said ‘all 7 of you’ earlier.”

All eyes turned to her and she felt nervous. Crap, I slipped!

“Oh,” she started, nervously added an awkward laugh. “I meant six! I might be more tired than usual then. We had to talk to a lot of clients today anyway, right?”

She knew she didn’t convince Shikamaru and the rest of her friends, so she thanked all the deities she knew when her phone rang and Kakashi’s name flashed on her screen. She took it as an opportunity to escape more questions from them and so she said, “I gotta take this call, it’s my old high school teacher.”

She muted their audio of their conference call and opened the window of her emails instead to hide her screen and chat box. Sakura went to the balcony to answer the call.

Little did she know that she forgot to turn off her camera.

“Did you notice she was acting weird?”

“She absolutely did, right? She looked nervous earlier. Do you know something about this, Naruto?”

“No! She tells us everything but for the past few months, she’s been a little secretive, I think. It also doesn’t help that we’ve been in quarantine for 2 months! Is she still my best friend, Ino-chan?”

“First of all, I am her best friend and not you. And second, I agree. Ugh, this Forehead is making my head hurt!”

“Don’t judge Sakura-san! She’s a good friend! If she wants to tell us something, she will!”

“I don’t care about her secret or whatever, all I want to know where her house is because look at her room. So fucking huge!”

“That’s not her house, Kiba. Forehead said she’s staying at her mom’s friend because she’s alone at her apartment.”

“Yeah, Sakura-chan's room is much brighter and full of flowers! The room they gave her now is so boring, look! It’s either black or gray!”

“I wouldn’t mind. The size of that room is almost as big as my entire apartment. That bed looks something I want to break with Neji.”

“Tenten-san!! Control yourself!!!”

“Y’all are so noisy even in chat.”

“Shut up, ponytail!”

A movement from Sakura’s camera caught everyone’s attention. Her computer is located at the corner of the room so they could see a part of the queen size bed and has a direct view of the bedroom door. The knob turned and someone entered the room.

“WHO’S THAT?!!!”

“SOMEONE ENTERED SAKURA-SAN'S ROOM!!”

“Is that her mom’s friend?”

“Stop panicking idiots!”

“THEY BETTER LEAVE SAKURA-CHAN ALONE!!!”

“Wait...”

“Is that....?”

Stood inside the room is no other than their young CEO, Uchiha Sasuke, dressed in casual gray sweatpants and thin white t-shirt. If not because of his wild black hair and intimidating aura, they wouldn’t even know it’s him. They have always seen him in crisp suits and perfect posture, maybe once in a bomber jacket and ripped jeans, but this is the first time they’ve seen him in comfortable clothes with his usual stiff shoulders a bit relaxed and his hands casually tucked in his pockets.

Another movement from the other corner of the room, and Sakura came into view. They didn’t know she was only wearing a big shirt that barely covered her thighs, and the chat room exploded again.

“Sakura’s so hot, damn..”

“HOY DOG-BREATH, LOOK AWAY!!! STOP HOUNDING SAKURA-CHAN!!”

“YAAAS GET THAT ASS GIRL!!”

“I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS! FOREHEAD IS BANGING OUR BOSS! THAT’S SO HOT”

They watched in awe when the two met in the middle of the room and Sakura tiptoed and wrapped her arms around Sasuke’s neck. Their boss leaned down and held her hips, his face hidden within her pink locks.

The scene didn’t have any audio for their mini audience but even without it, they know the two are speaking in whispers, with Sakura’s head nodding and Sasuke’s hands running over her waist and back as indications. They felt like intruders and most of them almost blushed because of the affection and intimacy, excluding one who definitely passed out under his desk, so they decided to leave the two.

“Let’s leave them alone now, things might get pretty hot. I don’t wanna see my best friend shagging my boss, no matter how proud I am of her.”

“INO-CHAN! WE GOTTA HELP SAKURA-CHAN ESCAPE! WHAT IF HE’S HOLDING HER HOSTAGE???”

“Idiot..”

“Sakura can take me hostage any time though..”

“Wait, I just want to see Boss Uchiha topless before we go!”

Sasuke pulled away for a bit to look at Sakura, his birthday girl, and poked her forehead with his two fingers. His two arms wrapped around her waist again after the gesture, “Are you done for today?”

She nodded in affirmative as her hands roam around his shoulders and looped around his neck, “I almost slipped earlier though. They almost knew I have a b-..boyf-”

He smirked. They have been secretly dating for almost 4 months now but she still blushes more than usual when she tries to address him as her boyfriend. He remembered the time he introduced her to his parents as his girlfriend and she was redder than his favorite fruit the entire dinner. That was fun.

She’s his employee, he knows. Sakura’s been working for his company for more than a year now and ever since he laid his eyes on her and saw her potential, wit and charm—he knows she’s his endgame.

It’s been a long pursuit for him, being her boss and all, and her righteous perspective about everything. So when she finally gave in to her own feelings and decided to say yes to being his, he decided to never let Haruno Sakura go. Even if she decides to fight tooth and nail for her freedom from him, he will do the same to keep her. Maybe not as an employee, because that would mean he will be free to take her on lunch dates, but as his lover.

I like that, he thought. Lover.

Sasuke peered at her blushing face, her emerald eyes downcast because of embarassment, her enticing full pink lips on display that she keeps on licking and biting. Sasuke’s eyes twitched because of the sight.

“Annoying,” he almost growled under his breath. Is she aware of her effect on him?

Before she could even ask, Sasuke ducked his head down to press his mouth on hers. His hand went to the back of her head to tilt it a little upwards so he could taste deeper and he was rewarded by the opening of her mouth and the quiet moan that he drank greedily from her.

As much as he wants to call it a night and just bury himself with her and in her, she hasn’t eaten yet because his hard-headed and annoying employee still worked at home on her birthday. He baked a strawberry cake downstairs while she thought he’s busy working with investors on his office. He spent the entire day in his kitchen Facetiming with his mother to guide his baking. He’s never seen his mother so ecstatic because of him.

He came back to his senses when he felt slightly cold hands under his shirt and he fought the urge to throw her onto the bed they have been occupying for the past 2 months of quarantine and just ravish her all night. Sasuke moved both his hands and held her face as he savored more of her lips by a few flicks of his tongue before he gently pulled away.

This might be her second birthday since he knew her, first as her boyfriend, but he feels like he’s known her for a long time. He wants to be there on her birthday every year, forever, as long as she’ll have him. “Happy birthday,” he simply said, tenderly looking at her gorgeous face.

Her smile was blinding and her green irises glimmer against the setting sun. “Thank you, Sasuke-kun,” Sakura softly answered. “I love you so much.”

He pecked her lips again, lingering a bit more, and murmured against her mouth. “Love you.” He felt her smile, and he smiled back.

A small blink from the corner of his eyes got his attention and he noticed the tops of her laptop’s screen with a little light, indicating that the camera is on. Sasuke turned to Sakura, “Go downstairs and wait for me. Let’s eat dinner. I’ll just take a shower.”

Sakura nodded and happily skipped across the room and slipped outside the bedroom to wait for him downstairs. Sasuke stood for a moment looking at the door and slowly walked toward his, their, dresser. He took off his t-shirt and tossed it carelessly on the floor. He took a deep breath and finally approached Sakura’s computer on the side.

He clicked the program that runs the conference call and was greeted by her team’s shocked faces. He saw one window where Rock Lee was supposed to be but he didn’t see anyone aside from the crooked angle of the camera and are those his feet under the table? He scoffed inwardly. Guess you’ll give up pursuing her now. She’s mine.

He did a lazy sweep of his dark eyes one by one on their faces and remembered them in the future if they decide to blame Sakura for not telling this secret. Of course, they both wanted to show the world that they’re together but they still need to be a little cautious. Yes, they’re her friends and her team, but he’s not gonna be lenient especially when it comes to Sakura.

Sasuke thought the look in his eyes were effective because they all sat a little straighter. His job is now done, and now it’s time to shower so he could celebrate the entire night with Sakura. His spine tingled in anticipation.

He looked directly at the little camera above and gave his signature smirk before he logged out her account and closed Sakura’s laptop. He stretched like a feline and his grin went wider as he stripped for his shower.

Let’s just say it was an interesting first day back at the office the following Monday.

Yang and Blake repeatedly give Adam the opportunity to leave them alone, only murdering him because they have no choice. Adam fans get angry that Blake does not keep adam's sword...the sword he used to break her sword, the sword he used to cut yang's arm and hurt so many people...that Blake should somehow FIX Adam, or that for running away from the white fang, BLAKE is somehow a murderer and terrorist, not Adam...or that it was BLAKE'S Fault that adam is bad?

Meanwhile, people get so mad that, rather than killing or arresting Robyn Hill, Yang and Blake once again try to talk things out with Robyn, and Robyn listens....and even calls off her non-violent non-bloody raids on the dust that ironwood keeps stealing from mantle.

Robyn is called a terrorist for not obeying a dictator who runs mantle like a freaking police state from Judge Dredd.

The sheer misogynistic double standards of Adam and Ironwood apologists are horrible...

Let's go further...WHY should Yang OWE Ironwood favors for the arm?

Politicians do donations here and there....somehow Robyn gets called a politician or a terrorist, but Ironwood is never called that? Robyn has the will of the people...Ironwood just has a military that he uses to control everyone through fear and obedience.

Come to think of it, why are Blacksun fans demanding that blake OWE sun for stalking her and being persistent? How is that any different from people demanding that Weiss OWE jaune favors for saving her?

Now that I think about it...maybe THAT'S why people are opposed to the women in RWBY?

Hey, i got it! Let's use a quote from Hayao Miyazaki that practically the grand majority of shounen anime tends to ignore...and fanfics too!

I think Couer Al'Aran forgets that.

He takes Jaune Arc: Who is 1. Supporting Character: And makes him the protagonist in practically all his fanfics. 2. Support type semblance: Makes him super strong and OP, tougher than many female character. 3. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, nor competent....suddenly more competent than the majority of the cast, and super smart IQ. 4. Loses most of his fights...suddenly wins most of his fights. 5. Never gets the girls? ...Suddenly always gets the girl. 6. Less accomplishments or screentime than most of the female cast....suddenly the female cast is Sakura or Orihime level of useless....which is how fanfic writers prefer their stuff.

So maybe...just maybe?

there’s a spanish footballer (DDG) who tweeted ss fanart on valentine’s day. and ofc there’s also that freak KS author. but i don’t think celebrities publicly ‘claiming’ a ship is anywhere near the same level as a ship —a non-canon one at that— getting referenced in so many different types of media, from mangas to cartoons and even songs. ss/nh will simply never achieve that and when one half of their ship dies, the stans will have nothing left at all lol.

Sometimes the references to sns are just stupid yaoi fangirl depictions, sometimes they are nice. But honestly the way Naruto and Sasuke's relationship is written in CANON makes SS pale in comparison, and that's what matters to me. Sakura wishes Sasuke would talk to her like he does with Naruto, she wishes he would care for her like he cares for Naruto. She wishes Sasuke would respect and love her like he respects and loves Naruto.

Yeah, why would Sasuke care? He had no romantic feelings for Sakura as kids, and no one can just assume that he would have had feelings for her back then in a non massacre universe. After the war, his feelings for her grew after noticing the person she had become and all the things she had done for him, but those factors weren't present during their academy days. Sakura was more of a fangirl back then, which was never something that Sasuke was too fond of, regardless of whether or not the Uchiha Massacre had taken place.

Meet the Volunteer: Shyamala

Hello, hello! I (she/her/hers) am Shyamala—feel free to rhyme that with Pamela—and I am the latest Fanhackers recruit. Armed with a B.A. from the Global South, an M.A. in English Lit and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing, I've been writing fanfic since I was about eight. Some of my earliest fandoms were Beyblade, Power Rangers and Cardcaptor Sakura, from where I transitioned into the Hindi soap-opera fandoms that I concurrently played in with western media fandoms as a teenager. My current playfields are Supernatural, Sense8, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and c-drama fandoms like Mo Dao Zu Shi, Tian Guan Ci Fu, The King's Avatar, etc. 

While I enjoy writing fic, most of my fandom consumption tends to stem around podfic, which is one of my main academic interests in fan studies. I am a very auditory learner, and I've found that text-to-speech can shorten academic texts in a way nothing else can, while readers of podfic can spin familiar fics in unfamiliar ways by giving it their own voices. My own work, both academic and creative, has often centered around ideas of voice and space, stemming from my identity as a fangirl of both English and non-English-language fandoms growing up in the Global South. I am interested in the ways race can interact with the (dis)embodied performance in a podfic and what that means for larger questions of accessibility, both technological and otherwise. 

For my M.F.A. thesis, I wrote a YA fantasy novel exploring pleasure and play in everyday life in a tropical city, not taking on any Big, Systemic Thing, but focusing on the play and pleasure of everyday life in a queer tropical city populated as much by gods and deities as it is by ordinary folk doing extraordinary things. In contrast, fanfic is where I enjoy exploring traumas—tackling the Big Things that need 100k+ words to be Solved with a happily ever after. Worldbuilding is one of my absolute favorite things to do, as evidenced by the fact that a majority of my fics are fantasy AUs.

SSM21 Day 28: Thank You

That girl, with big green eyes, pink hair and that huge red ribbon on top of her head, is so, so annoying. Sasuke thought, staring at her wrapping the bandage around his arm. The wound he accidentally caused when he tried to throw the kunai in his hands the way his brother did, crossing that kunai bearing hands infront of him and throw it skillfully to the target.

He just had to injure himself when a girl walk by. Today of all time.

The said girl shyly beamed at him, "All done!" and his thought shifted to how does a person can smile so widely and still look really good.

He clear his throat a few time. When he finally found his voice, he spoke, "What's your name?"

The oddly pink haired girl blink that big green eyes of hers, her cheeks tainted pink, before she answered, "My name is Sakura Haruno, you can call me Sakura." Her voice was velvety and quiet, not like her shameless smile, she actually appeared to be really shy.

He nodded, drink up the drink Sakura offered earlier as he stares at the wide eyed girl, "Sasuke. Sasuke Uchiha." He said, mimicking the way he heard his brother introduced himself once–"Itachi. Itachi Uchiha." He had said.–to a stranger on the street when they walk together.

He almost roll his eyes when the girl–Sakura–send him another big smile of hers, "It's nice to meet you, Sasuke-kun."

He nodded, jump off from the bench and stand on his feet. He turns to look at the girl over his shoulder, seeing how she's fidgeting as she gazes at his back, "Thank you... Sakura."

He put more effort in sending her his gratitude, lowering her voice, make sure his tone is genuine, ernest, and his gaze never waver from hers.

He didn't hear what she had said as he walks away swiftly. Many things he was sure of after that; her big expressive green eyes attracted him more than he allows himself to, her oddly pink locks is strangely suiting–he likes it–and that annoyingly huge smile of hers is actually pretty.

When their names were announced in the same genin team, Sasuke sighed harshly. It couldn't be anyone else, could it?

The biggest idiot in their class–how did he passed, anyway?–the good for nothing pink–hair–big–green–eyes–overly–wide–smile fangirl and a supposedly jounin level ninja who couldn't even dodge an eraser on top of his head.

He was proved wrong of course, during that mission in the land of waves. Kakashi was a well known ninja–who would've thought a pervert with a tardiness problem make such popularity–while Naruto actually defeat a guy that even he, Sasuke Uchiha, couldn't–he is however one hundred percent sure he could too, Naruto just had to get in the way making him took those senbon meant for him. Sakura didn't do much, but she did stand infront of their client in an act to save him from the coming threat; it signifies her courage.

He remember vividly how his body moves on its own as he placed himself in between Sakura and that chuunin, and Naruto and the senbon.

It was an instinct somehow, attempting to cut his life short and stand before the blow meaning for someone else. It was strange, to try and safe someone you found so god damn annoying, and someone you couldn't stand not having a bicker with. But he did, anyway. He doesn't even understand why.

When he gained consciousness again, he was thankful for Sakura's cry over him. He feels matter, to her anyway. At least he's not the only one in this, whatever it is. That feeling is so extremely weird that he brushed it off saying how heavy she is, and let her hug him even though the senbon sticking into his skin pain him even more because of her embrace. He wanted to thank her that day, like he did when they were younger, he have no clue to why, but he thought it'd be too out of character for him, so he stayed silent and let her help him up and walk over to Naruto and Kakashi.

It was at that moment that he admitted Sakura meant a lot, she's someone important. Naruto and Kakashi too, as much as he hated it.

He hates this, he hates her, he hates how she reminds everything that they went through together, promised thing she shouldn't be. And when she said,

"I–I love you so very, very much, Sasuke-kun. If you would only be with me. I won't let you regret it, no matter what. I will make it fun every day. You will definitely find happiness. I'll do anything for you, Sasuke-kun. I'm begging to you, please stay!"

His eyes enlarged, his heartbeat quicken, so does his pulse. Sakura is offering something he has been missing for years, and he knows she will do it successfully, he had tasted quite a bit of those happiness she promised. It was tempting.

But when she said,

"Or take me with you!"

He calmed himself down, let a stressful but quiet sigh out. This is Sakura, she is everything he wants. He wants everything she's offering, but there's just something he need to do, before gaining those over.

He turns around–he especially hates the tears that cascading non stop down her cheeks, he hates it when she cries; because of him particularly–saying, "You really are annoying." It was his way of saying, I remember, I remember that day, I remember every annoying second during our mission together as team 7. I remember it all.

He turn around then, ready to furthering his journey, but Sakura just had to shout. She just had to run towards him. She just had to insist he stays. He move swiftly, using the new found speed he developed with Kakashi, and went behind her.

She freezes then, he stand there counting until five, before he spoke. It was something significant for him towards Sakura.

"Sakura... Thank you."

He said, voice so soft, so sincere, so genuine. And by the rigidity of her posture, a hard suck of breath, he knew she remembered that day she helped him, and know that he has thanked her for everything, up to this second; her offer, her help, her thoughtfulness towards him, everything. He counted again, until three this time, before he raised his hand, pull out his fingers and hit the spot on her neck where it would cause unconsciousness.

When he grew older, and they got married, had a daughter together, he say thank you most times. It meant more than just a sign of gratitude and gratefulness to them; he said it, Sakura knew it, and Sarada understands.

They are a complicated family; very, very complicated indeed–whose else daughter thought of someone else's as her mother–but they share a significant bond that are trully special. Thank you is two words that signify their love to each other, not just a mere appreciation.
