Many people have tried to break into the Clydesgod family manor. Why, you may ask. Well, it’s big, old looking, and a wealthy family resides within it. Surely they have to have some stray cash lying around. Surely they wouldn’t miss it.
Many people have broken into the Clydesgod family manor, lurked about, seeing any sort of silverware worth taking to sell on the streets or melt down into whatever. You’d have to be insane to get this far though, if the odd dark halls don’t make you want to turn around and run with your tail between your legs. Some odd cases stick about however, knowing that there has to be a safe here somewhere.
Someone once broke into the Clydesgod family manor just so they could have a look at that politician’s safe. Why? Where they a political rival? A common thief? Who knows. One thing was for certain, they got too far inside.
It’s one thing being inside someone else’s house, but it’s another thing when you can hear someone else’s footsteps. Who else would be up at this house? Maybe some kid, wanting to come down to check out the noise. They really didn’t want to deal with any snot nosed brats getting in the way of their next payday, but they had some zip-ties that would’ve worked wonders.
They looked around, pick locking the study door. The footsteps sounded distant and above him, surely no one could hear the noises, right? They’d done their best to keep quiet anyway. It was their speciality, stealth. They’d slowly get the last lock open, being able to twist the handle to the study door. They would’ve been able to easily see the safe that resided behind the politician’s desk.
“Heh, jackpot.” They probably thought.
They didn’t expect to hear anything else though, right?
“Excuse me,” rung out, causing the thief to freeze in place as they slowly turned their head to face whatever called out. “Who in the seven hells are you?”
They’d reach for their diving knife, it was pretty big and mainly used for cutting ropes and cutting through chain fences. But it could’ve been useful for threats.
“S-stand back!” They’d yell. “Don’t move and no one gets hur-”
They would’ve found themselves falling to the floor, dropping the knife onto the ground as they got dragged along the carpet towards the person. Their legs felt bound, as if something had been wrapped around them. Soon, they’d get a better face of the person who discovered them.
“We have children here. 3 children. MY. Children,” The figure would begin, her eyes staring deep into the thief’s soul. “Why would you DARE break into our family home. Why would you DARE think it would be a good idea to jeopardise our family life?”
The thief was lost for words, finding himself lost in her ominous glowing eyes.
“I-I was just aiming for the safe! I-I promise! L-look I promise I won’t tell anyone about what I found here I swear!” They’d reply, doing their best not to piss themself. “I wasn’t aiming to take no kids! I just wanted the cash!”
“Why do you have zip-ties then? Hrm?” She’d reply, causing the thief to stutter as he tried to work up a sensable reply.
“T-those are for adults! Not kids!”
“Oh? So you were planning on taking someone? Planning on restraining someone?!”
“N-nononononono! P-please! Please I’m so sorry it won’t happen again! Y-you can just turn me over to the police and I won’t tell anyone what’s going on here! I-I’m so sorry I just wanted some cash!” They were beginning to wish they took a different house.
“You SHOULD’VE took a different house.” The figure replied. Wait, what?
Before they could even ask, they felt something appear behind them. They were unable to turn around, but they felt it. A strange emptiness lurking behind them, as if there was no wind or air. They felt like they were about to be sent to space. Suddenly, more strange appendages appeared and started to wrap around their body, their torso, their arms, their mouth even. They began to scream and shout as they felt themselves slowly begin to get dragged in. The lights were going darker and darker, more appendages began to wrap around their face the figure looked on with an outstretched hand. She looked deep into their eyes as another appendage slowly coiled around the thief’s face. They couldn’t see or speak, they could only hear the sound of their own muffled pleas, as they got dragged away into what looked like a portal...
...
“...” Mabon peeked around, wondering what was all the commotion. They made a noise, trying to get Krista’s attention. She’d turn back quickly, closing the portal suddenly so he couldn’t see what was inside.
“Oh! Mabon,” She looked over, moving towards her husband as she wrapped her arms around him. “You were right, there was something down here! But, don’t worry. It was just the neighbours cat again!”
She moved over towards an open window, closing it and making sure it was locked tight.
“It made a little mess around your door but I made sure it got out alright! I was just tidying up,” she turned back around to him, clashing her hands together. “You’re a baby sometimes. I swear, you’re not even allergic to cats! There’s nothing to be afraid of!”
“...” Mabon looked down for a moment, before looking back up towards his wife. “I’m sorry dear.” He’d sign.
Krista would pull him into a hug, making sure he was leaning so she could plant a quick kiss onto his face.
“No need to apologise! Let’s go back to bed now, you’ve got a busy day tomorrow!”
Mabon nodded. She was right, he did have to get on a train all the way to Cardiff for the next Senedd meeting. It was vital he got his sleep. Slowly, Krista began to lead her hubby by the arm towards their bedroom, not giving him a good chance to examine what had just happened.
He couldn’t help but wonder why that cat loved being in the house so much. This was the 3rd time this had happened this month alone. He eventually lost track of his thoughts as Krista held his arm close to her. Hm, he needed to stop worrying so much.
...
Many people have tried to break into the Clydesgod family manor. But no one has been able to get past the matriarch of the house.
