Carefully making sure no one is watching, you run a hand over the wilted orchids, watching as they return to life with a mere touch. You smile, setting the pots up on a shelf, perusing your store and keeping every plant in top shape. Flowers and houseplants alike line your shelves, all perfectly healthy without a dead leaf in sight.

You sigh, relaxation taking over your mind. You feel your powers tingle, and when you glance over to the mirror, you’re met with a scattering of lavender flowers growing in your hair.

Frowning, you begin to brush them out, waving a hand and dissipating the petals on the floor. Just as you manage to remove the last one, your door bursts open with a loud bang, sending you jumping and causing begonias to bloom in place of the lavender.

You shriek, ducking behind a shelf to furiously remove the pink-orange blooms.

“Sorry! Sorry, miss. You don’t have to hide, we know about your powers,” a voice says. How do they know? You’ve been so careful to keep it all secret.

You peeked out from behind the shelf, eyes widening when you saw who was standing in your.

The Avengers. Still in their mission gear, covered head-to-toe in rashes. Poison ivy. You were sure of it.

“What the hell happened to you guys?”

summary: when you went to london to check out rumors of a new vigilante superhero, you were shocked to only find a mild-mannered gift shopist. you befriend him nonetheless, and are just about to call the tip a bust when one night, you hear loud noises in his apartment next door. when you break in to check on him, you don’t find your shy friend. instead, you come face-to-face with a snarky mercenary and his… giant skeleton bird? (good ending to endgame, reader can see khonshu for reasons tbd lol. comedic effect??? idk)

basically a girlboss x malewife fic with angst. reader is badass that has her life moderately together and steven and marc are sweethearts with unresolved trauma.

things to know:

reader gives yelena vibes, but she never went through the red room or hydra (not traumatizing a reader??? unheard of 🤭)

she worked in shield as a partner to nat and clint, but didn’t join the team until age of ultron.

lives at the compound, but is more active on missions regarding possible new avengers, so is out a lot.

i will be trying my best to avoid writing steven as a helpless lil man bc i’m tired of seeing him be infantalized.

“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait,” you say, holding a hand up. Steven- no, Marc, sighs exasperatedly, waiting. “You are a mercenary?”

“Why do you need to know?”

“Just answer the damn question!”

He rolls his eyes. “Fine. Yes.” You sigh, leaning against the bookshelf.

“So what? Was Steven just an alibi?” you ask. You really hope not. One, because he’s sweet and kind and an absolute nerd. And two, because if he isn’t, then that means that Marc’s dedication to a cover is better than yours. And that simply will not stand.

“No, it’s more complicated than that. He’s, like, a facet of me. Another personality.” You perk up, visibly relieved.

“Oh, so he’s an alter? Like, you have DID?”

“Is that what it’s called?”

“Do you… Do you not know the name of your own personality disorder?” His silence speaks volumes. You chuckle under your breath, watching him stammer to try and recover from his fumble. You remove the gun from your waistband, preparing to set it on the table. In an instant, Marc has your wrist in a death grip, attempting to jostle the gun from you.

On instinct, you twist under his arms, kicking out his legs. He rolls over and stands back up, kicking the gun from your hands.

You take a moment to analyze his fighting style, scanning him as he circles you. He’s good, yes, but his form is sloppy. Basic US military training, most likely nothing specialized.

Taking one out of Nat’s book, you leap up, wrap your thighs around Marc’s head, and flip him over, holding him in place as he thrashes on the floor.

“Shut up, holy fuck you are so damn loud Jesus fucking Christ,” you hiss. Eventually, he taps your leg, wheezing.

“Truce,” he sighs. You roll off of him, nodding.

“Yeah, truce.”

option three: america’s ass

ship: steve rogers x female!shield agent!reader

genre: comedy, fluff

summary: working in shield means hearing a lot about the avengers. especially captain america. but when nat gets injured on a mission and has to be benched for a while, they bring you in. and dear fucking god, america’s golden boy is one hell of an asshole.

basically an enemies to friends to lovers because i simultaneously love and hate steve rogers.

things to know:

reader is friends with nat, doesn’t really know the rest of the team.

reader will not be “fixing” steve. she isn’t his mother. she’ll call him on his bs and he’ll improve himself 😌

reader is implied to be pretty short. more anger is stored in smaller things.

won’t follow canon at all, likely won’t have too many parts. everyone from civil war will be involved, plus bruce and thor bc i miss them

Nat limps as she leads you through the building, passing several hallways and ending in the kitchen/lounge area. The whole team is gathered there, eating a late lunch as you take in the scene.

You’ve seen the Avengers before, even met a few, but the one you’ve never interacted with is Captain America. The First Avenger. The Star-Spangled Man with a Plan and all that shit.

“Ahem,” Nat clears her throat and all movement ceases. “I’d like to welcome our newest recruit-“

“Temporary,” you butt in.

She slaps you best she can on crutches. “Shh. Our newest recruit, (Y/N) (L/N).”

You wave, awkward silence hanging for a moment before questions are launched at you.

What’s your training? What weapon do you specialize in? Do you have powers? Are all mortals so small?

You answer each question, reveling in the curiosity. Once they finish, the blonde captain himself stands from his seat.

“What makes you think you’re qualified to be here?” he snaps.

Now, Steve had been against bringing in a sub for Nat since the beginning. To be frank, he doesn’t trust SHIELD. And he doesn’t trust assassins, save Nat and Clint, who he got used to.

It’s not that he has something personal against you. No, not at all. He just has a hard time being okay with a complete stranger waltzing in and being expected to watch his six.

But all you see is another man with a “greater-than-thou” attitude, and even if he is America’s Golden Boy, you won’t take his shit.

Already labeling him as a rival, you cross your arms and glare up at him without a hint of respect for your superior.

Hi!! I used to be on Instagram as an anime account back in the middle school (idk if y’all followed peppermint.sticks but if you did that’s me!!). I’m back on here mainly bc I want anime art but I am also open to meeting new people!!!

Pronouns are she/her/hers. I am also in a relationship with my amazing long distance army boyfriend since February 2021!! You’re staring into space when Wonwoo comes home, comfortably wrapped in a big comforter in the middle of his living room as the TV watches you.

“Why are you frowning?” He greets you with a kiss on top of your head. “You look like a giant burrito.”

“Shut up.” You glare at him, burying yourself further into his comforter. “Something weird happened.”

"What?"

"Go wash up and I'll tell you."

He chuckles and messes your hair as he comply, making his way to the bathroom to take a quick shower. You're still in the same exact position when he comes back to the living room, barely even moving.

So Wonwoo plops down beside you, and you automatically scoot closer and lean your head on his shoulder despite the blanket between you two. You frown at the feeling though, so you open the material just enough for you to press yourself against him and Wonwoo swiftly wraps his arm around your shoulders.

“So?”

“My parents stopped by earlier.”

Wonwoo tightens his arm in alarm, but you quickly tell him it’s fine and you’re not, quite obviously, on the edge of breaking down like the last time they paid you a visit.

“They stopped by here?”

“Yeah,” you smile awkwardly. “They found out I’m here so… yeah.”

It’s been three days since that day on the lake house. You both returned home to his house after two more days there, which means it’s only been one day but they’ve somehow already found out and they came by just a few hours ago.

“They apologized.” You’re biting your lips and your eyes are a little unfocused as you say this, like you’re not sure if you’re imagining the whole thing or not. “Said something about how they shouldn’t have jumped into conclusion and all that? Father even told me to take another week off.”

Wonwoo bites back an amused smile at your confused tone, only because he knows it’s not the time to laugh when you’re probably perplexed inside. He squeezes your shoulder encouragingly and prompts you to continue.

“I don’t know… it’s just so weird.”

“You know they sent a private investigator team to look for you because you’re missing?” You look at him in shock, having never heard of the news. “They didn’t want the media to blow up, so they had to do that and they’ve just gotten the access to trace CCTVs in Seoul when I told them you’re safe with me.”

“You texted them?”

“In the evening when you were showering, yeah.” He nods as he takes a sip of water from your glass. “Didn’t I tell you your father called me? I thought you were just still ignoring me, but your father called me during a meeting and you can imagine how I felt when I saw his missed call.”

You shake your head, because Wonwoo didn’t tell you though you can’t blame him when you’re the one who was hogging him practically the whole time with your crying and all that. It’s probably the last thing on his mind at that point.

This puts you even more in a daze than before, and Wonwoo lets you have your moment to gather your thoughts because he knows you think your parents don’t care about you at all.

He can hardly blame you on that; your parents are far from getting the best parents of the year award, but they still care about you even though they’ve never been good in affection and, yes, it’s true that they put more effort into their wealth and position more than they do their own child.

It’s not something that’s going to change anytime soon, but Wonwoo’s glad that at least they finally felt firsthand the streaking fear from your sudden disappearance, and he could only guess that’s one of the reasons why they apologized to you.

“I reassured them that you’re fine and you just needed some time by yourself.” His fingers brush against your cheek. “And that they can pull out all their searching team because I promised to bring you home safe and sound.”

You don’t comment on it, but Wonwoo figures it’s enough that you know. What you have with your parents isn’t going to be easy to fix, and he doesn’t think your parents were aware that they need to fix it in the first place. If he’s being honest, they wouldn’t even think they did anything they had to be sorry for if not for the shock from your disappearance.

Still, it’s something and Wonwoo would rather take that small comfort if it means you’ll feel better than nothing at all.

“Didn’t know they’d even notice I was gone,” you furrow your eyebrows at the thought. Wonwoo looks like he’s about to say something, but you shake your head and change the topic, a signal that you don’t want to dwell on it for too long. So Wonwoo indulges you and tells you about his day, how he’s personally deposited a hefty amount to Chan as a bonus for the amount of schedules he had to cancel last minute and the earful he’d probably gotten from a lot of parties.

“I still feel bad for making you take a few days off for me,” you trail off with a pout. With his position, you can only imagine the amount of things he’s neglected just to make sure you’re well. You tried to send him away to work the next day, but Wonwoo insisted that he also needed the break and he wanted to make sure that you’re feeling better before he’s back to work.

Perhaps his mom was right when she said you were nothing but–

“No,” he cuts like he’s seen your train of thoughts. “Stop thinking about Mom’s words. I promise she loves you, she was just… she heard the rumour about the taken down headlines and she kind of jumped into conclusion.”

He winces as he explains this, but he’d rather be honest if it means you’ll get to hear the truth. “I’m not saying she has valid reasons for saying that, and I did scold her for believing those things when she’s known you since you were a baby. She apologized, princess, told me she got carried away and she just really wished I’d have a girlfriend already.”

“Still…” you sigh, but Wonwoo’s words ring in your head not long after, reminding you that he’s here with you no matter what. You make Wonwoo repeat himself too much already and you’d be stupid to hold on to your thought when you have him by your side.

You shift to move into his lap, head falling into his shoulder as his hand naturally grips your waist and the other caressing your thigh. “Anyway, I’m going to meet Chaeyoung tomorrow.”

“Come home alive, okay?” he jokingly whispers against your hair, and you pinch his side at the remark which Wonwoo simply laughs at in return.

You’re actually nervous to see her, and you promise yourself to tell her everything because she deserves at least that much after all that. Shua and Jeonghan have been texting you to meet too, but it’s hard to match schedules with them so you promise to eat lunch with Shua in a few days instead and Jeonghan’s actually just messing around because he said he’s currently in Bangkok for a meeting.

“She also called me crying, you know? She was so afraid something happened to you.”

You grip the front of his shirt, feeling both guilty and a little touched that you have someone who would cry for you because you’re missing for a bit.

“She’ll probably scream a little and move on with it,” he chuckles, knowing Chaeyoung well enough to know she’d never be able to get mad at you. “She loves you too much to give you a cold shoulder or anything.”

“Wouldn’t be surprised if she disowned me, to be honest,” you say with a sigh, though he can tell that your tone is light if only a little tense.

“She won’t,” he reassures you anyway, just enough to let you know that he doesn’t think your fear is invalid even though Chaeyoung would never disown you. “Now, have you eaten dinner?”

“Oh!” you exclaim and jump a little. “I haven’t, but Soonyoung did send a whole catering again and they’re in your fridge.”

You stand up to pull him with you to the kitchen before he can say anything, and you talk about how you were waiting for him to come home so you can eat together. He smiles at the word, though you don’t see it because you’re already busy taking out some of the containers to his dining table.

“You should’ve eaten something if you’re hungry though,” he scolds you lightly, in which you just grin in return and tell him that you’ve eaten the chocolate mousse he also sends with the rest of the food earlier. “He… really likes sending you food, huh?”

You blink at the tone he’s using, and when a few seconds pass in silence, Wonwoo turns to see you grinning teasingly at him, fingers that are gripping his get tighter as you step closer to him. “Is that jealousy I hear, Mr. Jeon?”

He scoffs and shakes your hold from his hand, and you laugh before you throw yourself at him instead, arms wrapping tightly around his middle and your laughter muffled by the fabric of his shirt.

It’s a sight that Wonwoo’s going to keep replaying in his mind, like a good song he’d hum to everytime he’s in a particularly good mood, and Wonwoo’s sure he would never get tired at the sound of your laughter either.

“How many times did I tell you he’s not interested in me that way?” you huff, planting your chin on his chest as you look up at him with amusement glinting in your eyes. “You know I’m not interested in him that way.”

He raises his eyebrow in question, hands reaching up to squish your cheeks. “And how do I know that, exactly? I don’t remember you saying anything about it.”

“Well, do I kiss Soon–” you squeal when he dives down to meet your lips, effectively shutting you up and making you laugh through the kiss. You feel him grin through your lips too, and you’re about to burst with giddiness as he pulls you deeper into him, your fingers gripping his shoulders and his palms delicately holding your face.

“What were you saying?” he asks after pulling away, heart full at the sight of your flushed cheeks and happy grin the moment he opens his eyes.

“I said,” you say cheekily, which Wonwoo narrows his eyes at. “Do I kiss Soo–Wonwoo!”

You laugh again when he cuts you off with his lips, pleasantly surprised when he deepens the kiss and pushes you to the nearest surface he can find. It’s his kitchen counter, your short-circuited brain manages to register, and you shriek when he lifts you up to the empty counter and your exposed thigh meets the cold marble.

You’re not complaining though, because it’s actually quite something to feel Wonwoo reaching up to you and being able to wrap your arms around his neck as he stands between your legs, kissing you like he’s been craving for it.

And perhaps he has, because how many years did he spend looking at your lips, wondering how they’d feel pressed to his only to shake his head and force himself to remember that you see him as nothing but your best friend?

It’s crazy how drunk you’re feeling right now, adrenaline rushing throughout your body and your hands gripping just about anything you could reach of Wonwoo like you can’t get enough of him; his hair, his shoulders, his neck–anything. You can’t hear anything but the loud sound of your heartbeat drumming in your ear and Wonwoo’s ragged breath.

Weren’t it just a few days ago that you were in denial? Trying to convince yourself that you didn’t see him that way?

You whine when Wonwoo pulls away to take a breath, and you only let him a second before your mouth needily finds his again for another kiss. You don’t even remember when your legs end up wrapped around his figure, but Wonwoo is just about to pepper kisses down your neck when your eyes open in alarm at the sound of someone entering the kitchen.

Wonwoo doesn’t seem to notice though, but he grunts in dissatisfaction when you pull away and it’s only then that he realizes you’re weirdly still in his arms. He looks at you in question when he sees you’re frozen and your mouth a little ajar–only to turn around and find Shua and Jeonghan by the door, eyes wide open and mouth dropping open at sight in front of them.

“Umm… hi?” you squeak, unsure where to look at after realizing what they’ve just witnessed.

You don’t know what to make of Jeonghan’s wide grin paired with the dangerous glint in his eyes.

“Uhh… I thought you’re in Bangkok?” You decide to speak up. The silence is deafening and the sentence itself is weird because it’s notsupposed to be silent when you have both Shua and Jeonghan with you in one room.

“Got back earlier today and thought we’re gonna surprise you,” he says coyly, his leg crossed over the other as he inspects his perfect nails. “Who knows you’re preparing a surprise for us too? What a good cousin, right, Josh?”

Shua is weirdly quiet, but eventually nods and leans back on the sofa as he observes the nonexistent space between the two of you; your shoulder is touching Wonwoo’s arm and your thighs pressed against each other.

Suddenly, he wonders if you notice that you’ve always been this way when it comes to Wonwoo.

“Do you mind explaining what I’ve just seen or…?” Jeonghan trails off, daring you not to explain.

You’re both silent at the question, unsure how to reply. You and Wonwoo have never talked about what the change means to the both of you, not because you’re avoiding the topic but because it just feels natural to continue without putting a frame on it. Is he your boyfriend now? Are you in a relationship?

It doesn’t sound bad. Quite the opposite, if you’re being honest, but it’s just so… funny. You’ve spent at least two decades with Wonwoo, have gone through a lot of things together, and probably understand each other more than you do yourselves. Calling Wonwoo your boyfriend seems like an offense to your relationship.

He’s more than that.

But… what are you two, really?

“We’re together, if that’s what you’re asking.”

It’s Wonwoo who answers, and you try your best not to look at him in shock because you’ve never thought how heartwarming the words could feel coming out of him. Now that you think about it, haven’t you always been… together?

“Like, officially?” Jeonghan prods, and you wonder why he sounds excited more than he is accusing. You’ve initially thought he would nag you for not saying anything, but you don’t expect the twinkle in his eyes and the unashamed grin on his face.

“Does it matter?” Wonwoo asks back, and you’re surprised to find yourself biting back a smile at how true his word is. Does it really matter? It sounds like it’s just so obvious. So natural, almost like a fact, for you to be with Wonwoo that you don’t need–don’t have–any word that could describe what you have with him. That what matters is that you’re together; you’re with him and he’s with you.

Unexpectedly, Jeonghan nods and says ‘yes, it matters a lot’. You see Shua looking at your other cousin in annoyance, and you share a confused look with Wonwoo as you wonder what on earth Jeonghan is on about this time.

“I guess?” Wonwoo frowns, visibly more relaxed now that he’s said the words out loud. “It’s just funny to put a label on it because we’ve known each other for… so long.”

“So are you official or not?” he snaps, almost giddy.

“Uh?” Wonwoo looks at you in question. Funny how you’ve dealt with Jeonghan for so long and you still have no idea how to decipher his mind.

You shrug, head falling into his shoulder as you look at your cousins curiously.

“Do I have to introduce you as my boyfriend now if people ask?”

Wonwoo has never thought he’d have his heart skip a beat over the word ‘boyfriend’ and he’d never admit the fluttering butterflies in his stomach to anyone. He tries to look at you nonchalantly, telling you he doesn’t mind if that’s how you want to call it.

“I’d finally be able to get my mom to back off too if she knows you’re my… well, girlfriend.”

It’s painful how obliviously in love you are with each other.

As much as Shua is glad you’re finally admitting your feelings and giving Wonwoo the chance he deserves to stand beside you as your lover, it’s still clear to him that you still don’t know how much you’re in love with the guy.

He sees the way your eyes light up at him, something that has always been there though it’s ignited now after whatever happened the last few days. He’s happy, because it’s clear to him how much happiness you radiate now, obviously in contrast with the lost look on your face the last time you talked to him.

He softens at the sound of your laughter as Jeonghan teases you both, something along the lines of ‘it’s about time’ and that ‘he’s seen it coming’. You and Wonwoo don’t say anything, simply laugh and accept his teasing because you’re not sure what to say either.

Shua eyes him warily as his friend turns to him with a victorious grin, palm out as if asking for something. Shua slaps his hand away and mocks innocence, pretending like he doesn’t know what he’s on about.

“I’ll be expecting it by next week,” Jeonghan declares anyway, not minding Shua’s defeated sigh.

“Expecting what?” you ask as you get comfortable next to Wonwoo, hugging his arm.

“The new Porsche,” he shrugs in nonchalance, like he’s asking for a coffee. “He promised to buy me the latest edition.”

“Oh? I wasn’t aware they’re releasing their latest edition in Korea?” Wonwoo quips, not really interested as to why Shua promised to buy Jeonghan a car.

“They aren’t,” Jeonghan grins and waves his hand leisurely. “Shua will import them exclusively for me though, right, Hong Jisoo?”

“Whatever,” he huffs, though he fishes out his phone and Jeonghan sees him open the contact of his dad’s secretary and text him something about an international car dealer. “It wouldn’t come to this if it wasn’t for me so I only have myself to blame.”

You frown at them both, not getting it at all. “What is it, really? Why are you buying him a car? He’s literally Yoon Holdings’ CFO.”

Shua stays quiet, not wanting to say anything about it. Jeonghan’s grin widens though, and he happily tells you that Shua lost a bet, so he owes him a car.

“How stupid are you?” you quirk an eyebrow at Shua, ignoring his pout. “Why would you bet against him with a Porsche on the line? What did you bet on, anyway?”

“I told him you’ll get together in the span of three months,” your cousin shrugs, happy with himself like he’s not literally betting on your relationship with Wonwoo. "Which means... three days more and I would've lost."

“You bet on me for a Porsche?” you look up at him, fauxing offense.

“It’s your relationship, not you, princess. Wonwoo’s in it too, isn’t he?” He argues, though, really, he’s just mainly happy that you’re happy.

He’s always known you’ll end up with Wonwoo one way or another, and to actually see it with his eyes; how you both are content with each other, even more comfortable than you used to be, it’s the only thing he could ask for.

His mind takes him back to a few weeks ago, when he and Shua visited your father and straightforwardly told him that you’re overworked and you’ve fainted.

Shua would’ve filtered it; he would’ve told his uncle that he didn’t think it’s good that you’re handling all those things and asked him to reconsider your workload. He might not even say you fainted, just that he’s worried and you’re not exactly in your best condition.

But that’s not Jeonghan.

Jeonghan spoke honestly, demanded that your father has to lessen your work, that you fainted from preparing for the events and for the monthly evaluation your father asks of you. That you’re never going to consider a position in the company if he’s giving you works almost as much as him, a CFO, when you’re currently at a manager position right now.

He looked genuinely concerned, Jeonghan still remembers, said that he wasn’t aware that he’s giving you too many works. That he thought you could handle it because you didn’t say anything about it and you got everything just about done.

Jeonghan almost snickered, almost asked if he’d listen if you asked to lessen your load, if he wouldn’t brush it off even if you said it’s too much. But Jeonghan kept them to himself and it’s Shua’s turn to soften the blow and tell your father that he’s been worried and that you might not even be able to work properly at this pace.

And then there’s the event a few days ago, when Jeonghan immediately took off to your parents and finally said a piece of his mind when he heard you went missing. He would probably curse at them if not for Shua, who was already there to give a piece of his mind too, holding him back even though he’s annoyed himself.

Jeonghan’s pretty sure they wouldn’t even consider his words if they’re not too affected by your disappearance, but they’re a little disoriented too, something that he’d never thought would see of them, and it was a good timing to finally tell them that they’re just pushing you away at this point and he wouldn’t be surprised if you end up leaving the company altogether.

He looks at you, a soft smile in his face as you pout at him for the bet. And then his gaze averts to Wonwoo, his eyes fixated on you as if you’re the only thing that matters.

And perhaps you are, Jeonghan–or anyone, really–would believe it in a heartbeat if Wonwoo says you’re his whole world.

I need to talk about the Avengers. 

I just want to express how much I hate that the Avengers aren’t on the hook for all their time travel nonsense bc they were “supposed to” do it and Loki is on the hook bc he wasn’t. 

I mean, I am glad that they addressed it right away - that Loki was inadvertantly caught up in the Avengers' time meddling, and that apparently they were doing what they were supposed to and that's why none of them were on trial, but - there are two things going on here that I have issue with. One is, of course, the scapegoating of Loki once a-fucking-gain, but the other is that there's a legitimate problem inherent in framing the Avengers' deeds as The Right Thing So There Are No Consequences, especially because it directly leads to Loki (and only Loki) being scapegoated since, apparently, someone's got to answer for all of this. 

Why Were The Avengers Supposed to Undo the Snap?? 

Of all the possible options they could have gone with (such as reversing time back to just before the Snap happened), going back through time to gather the stones and use them to undo things five years later is, like, one of the worst?? Best case scenario, it implies that the TVA is ridiculously incompetent in managing the sacred timeline and worst case scenario, it implies that the TVA is ridiculously adept in managing the sacred timeline, if their goal is to have it be the worst possible timeline anyone could end up in. 

The Avengers may have done an arguably good thing in undoing the Snap - I don't disagree that those people should've lived - but they also royally fucked over a lot of things in the process and left Earth (and presumably many many other worlds) in total post-Snap chaos while fucking off to die be with their families and/or start new lives. 

This goes back to the plan itself. One of my many issues with Endgame is that not only is the plan convoluted and, frankly, stupid, but also I have a real problem with the concept of the Avengers just saving the world as they see fit, regardless of whether or not that's actually the best thing to do. (If the Russos hadn't done such a shit job with explaining what the Accords were actually supposed to do, then maybe this could have been addressed somehow - like, okay, together we may have the brains and resources to carry off this plan but does that mean we're the ultimate authority on whether or not we should? Maybe we should check with, like, the UN or something about this? [and it’s entirely possible the UN was mentioned and I have forgotten it bc I’ll be honest, I watched Endgame once and have bitched about it ever since.] I digress.) 

The narrative in Endgame and into the MCU beyond plays like the Avengers only care about saving the world when they stand to personally gain from it (they want their friends and family back, they want to feel like they didn't fail, they have unilaterally decided that what they want is the Best Thing for everyone) and once the Good Deed is done and the smoke clears from the battlefield, there's no concern with saving the mess of the world they created. 

TFatWS addressed so many of the problems with the post-reverse-Snap, which implies that the MCU (both in-universe and out) is aware that things are fucked up now. People's lives were literally ruined by what the Avengers did. Refugees are displaced. Humans are coming back to a world where they've been dead for five years and their loved ones have moved on and their homes have been sold and their bank accounts have been closed and they have no jobs. And that’s just on Earth. Yet no one (again, both in-universe and out) feels the need to hold the Avengers accountable for any of this. 

Plus, what about the people who died as a result of the Snap but not from the Snap directly? What about the planes that fell from the sky when the pilots turned to dust? The cars that crashed and collided when the drivers poofed? Etc. Like, fuck all of those people I guess? 

And who, exactly, is "supposed to" clean up the Avengers' mess now that the actual Avengers are either dead, old and living on the moon, or retired? Is it on Sam's shoulders alone (or, rather, Sam and Bucky's)? Is Peter Parker (yknow, the 15 year old Nick Fury went and recruited bc there was no one else) supposed to be fixing things? 

The TVA takes responsibility for none of this. They sit back in their nightmare DMV-esque office and claim that all is as it should be but my question remains: please explain to me how the outcome of the post-Snap universe is ultimately satisfactory to anyone besides the Avengers? 

There's also the fact that Loki figures out right away that the Avengers were engaging in some time travel shenanigans ("the cologne of two Tony Starks is hard to miss” lmfao Loki you snarky shit). Loki recognizes that there's been an opportunity created of which he can take advantage, but he isn't responsible for creating it. The Avengers messed up and created that opportunity so, even if they were supposed to be doing what they were doing, there are still no consequences for the fact that they made a mistake that allowed Loki to then branch off and create a new timeline. 

Let's also say that we accept that the Avengers were supposed to undo the Snap exactly as they did. Okay, sure. BUT: 

- Was Steve, then, also supposed to decide to fuck back off to the 1940s and marry Peggy (which created two Steves, right? The one who was married to Peggy all along and the one who was in the ice?? The TVA is just okay with two Steves?)? 

- What is the actual point of Stephen Strange having the time stone and using the time stone both to gain the advantage over Darmammushumuuyourmom (I’m sorry, I can’t remember his real name) and to look at all the possible timelines to figure out how to defeat Thanos? 

- How is it possible that there are 14 million potential timelines in which the Avengers failed if the TVA’s entire thing is that there can only be one true ring timeline to rule them all? The fact that Stephen can look ahead and determine so many outcomes based on the choices they're making would mean that people do have free will and that their actions aren't automatically dictated by what's “supposed to” happen. They had to make the right choices in order to get to the one timeline in which Thanos failed. 

- What’s the point of Stephen having to protect the time stone, anyway, if there are presumably a few others in Casey’s drawer?

- On that note, if there are a lot of infinity stones hanging around in the TVA’s desk drawers, what makes the original six the specific, correct ones that Thanos had to collect in order to pull off the Snap and why is it then those specific six the ones that the Avengers had permission to go back through time to get in order to undo the Snap as the Timekeepers intended?

- And actually, in fact, if there’s only one sacred timeline and anyone who fucks it up without permission gets “reset” (aka made nonexistent, along with their timeline branch) then, again, why does Stephen have to protect the time stone? Either anyone who steals it was supposed to, or their timeline gets eliminated and the theft ceases to matter. 

- Less significant but also still kinda significant is how Agents of SHIELD figures into all of this. The TVA knows that Loki killed Coulson but they don't know (or don't care?) that Coulson was brought back to life and proceeded, with his team, to go on and get heavily involved in time travel and going back and forth and bringing people from the past into the present? So the TVA is okay with Daniel Sousa leaving his timeline but not with Loki leaving his? 

... I have literally confused myself with all of this, so if anyone followed my train of thought here, congratulations and maybe you can explain it to me lmao. 

But here's my ultimate point: the sacred timeline that the TVA is tasked with maintaining is not sensical or linear. It's full of gaps and holes and people taking matters into their own hands to determine both their own fates and the fates of others. As a result, a lot of people suffer kinda needlessly based on the events in said timeline, and apparently it's perfectly fine for all of this nonsense to occur so that everyone else has some element of control - 

- but Loki is literally the only one who is told uh, actually, no, you are supposed to live a shitty life and die a pointless death and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it bc it's supposed to happen. 

What in the actual fuck kind of logic is that??? 

Thus, either the TVA (and the Timekeepers) are grossly incompetent, or else they're extremely competent and also really fucking shitty beings who just enjoy the needless suffering of others. 

And somehow this is all Loki's fault!!

And then Mobius has the fucking audacity to say, to Loki's face, “you only exist to prop up everyone else and you, Loki Odinsonson Laufeyson mischief god and king of space lol, do not have any inherent worth or value as your own person. You were born to be a scapegoat and you will die a scapegoat and there's no getting around that, if we have anything to say about it.”

To quote Loki, in a very twisted way - yes, it's funny. It's absurd.

I'm not fond of the pairing but from what I've seen General public actually loves Sylki very much. Even the trade reviews called the relationship "genius" which,,,ok. Someone did a poll on various platforms, yt, reddit, fb, twitter etc comparing which ship is better (Lokius or Sylki) and it was Sylki who won by large margin in the end. I suppose mostly they just don't care because it's sci fi and a pairing in a totally unrealistic show, and after Wandavision I guess weird ships are 'in' but yeah it makes you think. But the writers already said they won't give in to the fan pressure bc they have their own story to tell (which ok, valid, you do you) but idk. I guess we will get even more Sylki in second season. Tom already said Loki won't stop searching for her

Sometimes I think casual fans are the most irritating thing about being in a fandom :/

Just as a disclaimer (bc I don’t want people coming for me): I think lokius is really cute, and I love fics/art/headcanons about them, but I never thought they were canonically romantically interested in each other. I never thought lokius was gonna be canon, and I never wanted it to (because I didn’t want ANY romance in the series), so I don’t even include it in my argument against s*lki.

Ok so….. listen. This is gonna be a long ass post, so I’m putting it under a cut. Sorry, anon, but you’re the one that opened the Worm Can.

The viewing public, in general, tends to heavily skew towards heterosexual-presenting ships. Partially because a portion of the general audiences are homophobic, and partially because a lot of non-tumblr fans are so sick of hearing tumblr stans go on and on and on about how they were queerbaited by certain gay ships not becoming canon, when in reality, said ships are trash.

Listen. I sympathise with that. I get that. I know I’m beating a hornet’s nest with this, but…. D*stiel? J*hnlock? St*cky? None of those were written in any way to invoke queer undertones, they were always supposed to be platonic, and tbfh even as platonic relationships the first two are literally toxic and abusive as hell, anyway.

So I definitely understand how a casual straight fan on Twitter or Instagram would see some of those same crazy “we were queerbaited” tumblr stans ranting about lokius not becoming canon and how much s*lki sucks and……. it makes sense that they’d be like “These people are just pissed that their gay ship isn’t canon, that’s why they hate s*lki.”

But here’s the thing. I don’t think those people realise how callous it is to say something like that when the only reason queer kids are so quick to ship any two male characters who express a modicum of affection for one another, is that they’re so fucking starved for representation in the first place, they’re willing to see queer romance in any same-sex interaction. They’re just that desperate. That’s where the whole crazy gay stan thing comes from. And yeah, it’s annoying that these people put their whole chest into defending gay ships that are total trash, but you have to realise why they do it.

So, what I’m saying is, for s*lki shippers- who are already winning, because their straight ship had the privilege of easily becoming canon despite all its flaws- to look at queer people who are frustrated to the point of tears that they were once again conned out of any form of queer rep (for the mcu’s first canon queer character, for gods sake) after actually genuinely being queerbaited this time (with his bisexuality/genderfluidity)….. and to essentially gloat that their straight ship became canon and taunt queer people by saying “oh you’re just desperate for two men to kiss”………… idk, man. It just seems real cold to me. Reeks of straight privilege and heteronormativity.

Ok, so with that being said.. let me respond to your actual ask lol.

I’m not surprised at all that s*lki won the popularity polls. I think a large reason for that is the fact that it was pitted against lokius, which sorta rubs a lot of casual viewers the wrong way for reasons listed above. I’m also not surprised that casual viewers liked it outside of its opposition to lokius- because, um, casual viewers aren’t very smart.

They tend to analyse exactly nothing, they don’t look any deeper than the surface, and if the writers of a show stick a hot man and woman together under a blanket, they eat it up. Because the narrative tells them it’s sweet. Just like the narrative tells them Loki is a greasy asshole who had no character development up until this point, and they eat that up too. Just like the narrative tells them that sylvie’s the best thing since sliced bread, and they eat that up too. Just like the narrative tells them it’s completely in character for Loki to try to subjugate a group of 3 random Mongolians in the middle of the dessert for absolutely no reason other than his “narcissism”, and they eat that up too. Just like the narrative tells them that one throwaway line about liking “a bit of both” is somehow this groundbreaking example of lgbt representation, and they eat that up too……… See the pattern here?

And as far as being concerned about the pseudo-incest angle, I don’t even think casual fans even dug that deep. They literally just saw two main characters- a pretty white woman and a hot white man- doing cool fight scenes together and giving each other goo goo eyes, and they were automatically sold.

And the writers saying “we won’t give in to fan pressure, we have our own story to tell” is honestly complete bullshit. What the hell is the POINT of working for a corporate film company and telling a story on screen if not to please the fans??? They do what they do to get people to watch their shows to get lots of money. That’s literally what they’re there for. Mike Waldron must have a pretty damn inflated sense of self importance if he thinks his own “artistic vision” or what the hell ever is the priority here lmao.

And I wanna be mad about Season 2, I really do. But at this point Season 1 ruined the character so much for me that I legitimately don’t even care what direction they take him in.

ok so. u wanted more fear street asks? heres another fear street ask!

(beware, in typing this i just realized what started as me trying to get one simple point across led to me rambling but i think this still counts as talking to u abt fear street sooo)

im just once again thinking about how the characters are so fleshed out and engrained in the plot?? like, it would have been fairly easily possible to kinda treat the characters as secondary to the plot and instead focus mainly on the curse w/o really developing them (especially since the movies really dont cover that much time, by which i mean 1994 parts 1 and 2 together are maybe a bit over 2 full days? and 1978 is one day and 1666 is like 2 days, if that makes any sense lol). but the thing is, the only reason the plot matters is the way it affects the characters, and the way the curse has shaped their whole lives and the lives of literally anyone who lives in either shadyside or sunnyvale (tho obv in wildly different ways) and just. despite there technically only being so little time the main characters did all get their own personalities and in most cases also some form of arc and maybe i just get attached too easily but i loved them all dearly. kate, simon and alice are all only present for one of the movies and arent even the main protagonists in it and yet they are all distinct characters and i love them. i am well aware this is a horror franchise but i do think the reason im so incredibly obsessed w these 3 movies is the way they dealt with the characters and their relationships to each other. (which is not to say i dont adore the plot and couldnt ramble abt it forever but the thing is it is v much character driven and also not currently what im sitting here thinking about lmao)

first of all YES to all of that, i LOVED what you said and you're so right!!! let's talk the characters!!! because i'm literally in love with all of them. first, Deena. how could you not love an angry but secretly soft lesbian that would fight the actual devil for her girlfriend? the way she went from "shit is doomed" to "you and me are the way out" we love some character development!

which brings me to Sam! I saw some people say Sam was the most underdeveloped character and yeah i wish we could have gotten to know more about her but ???? if she doesn't have a personality who cares I'll give her one via fanfic??? but seriously though i love Sam so much like did we watch the same movie? that girl sacrificed herself TWICE (three times if you count kissing her gf in front of her homophobic mom, bc hey that's as brave as facing the devil imo).

literally all the secondary characters also had sooo much potential. Josh could literally have a spin off series where he solves mysteries. Simon was comic relief but so. much. more. than that and when Deena said he had been providing for his family since he was 15 i cried. and Kate!! she wanted to live and have a life so badly and every time i think about her i want to cry so badly!

then there's 1978! the Berman sisters! who had their complicated relationship but also very real personal stuff on top of that too! like seriouslly fully fleshed characters all of them!! did you watch the actress that plays Alice say that she played her as having romantic feelings for Cindy, and that the other actress and the director agreed??? i'm still losing my mind about that. don't even get me started on Leigh Janiak because she's so iconic i'm seriously losing my mind

If you know me, you know Buffy The Vampire Slayer has basically been a hyperfixation for me since I was like 10. That being said, I’m gonna talk about Spike. If you don’t like him: cool✨ this isn’t for you👍

Ok so he started the series as probably one of my favorite suave villains. Absolutely devoted to his insane love, Drusilla. Honestly, they were great. Completely lacking in remorse and just hoping to cause chaos and have a blast. What more do you want in a villain? They were cool, pretty, and completely evil. Also, Spike always had the best sense of humor. He knew he was bad, and he liked to mess with his enemies. Like, THIS was how he threatened Buffy’s mom??? Iconic

So, we continue and Angelus shows up. Oof. He’s a very different post, but that’s not now. Anyway, Evil!Angel (lol) made one very important mistake. Ok he made many, but this one is important to my point. Our least favorite soulless, brooding man messed with Spike’s girl. Angelus always had that weird complex about owning all of them, so yeah, he wanted to make a point. Unfortunately for him, Spike cared way more about Dru than ending the fucking work. Spike teamed up with Buffy (for the first time!!!!) to double cross the bastard and get his girl out of town before they got caught up in shit bigger than he cared about.

Honestly, I already liked him, and I didn’t expect him back at this point. However, Spike never does the expected, and that’s why I love him. So, he shows up next season all heart broken and looking for some destruction and a way to get Dru back. Lol she left him for that weird gooey deer guy. He’d ‘gotten soft’ because he chose her over ending the world. Spike fucks some shit up a couple times that season and is my favorite little inconvenience. Also, weirdest/best friendship:

Then things get ✨interesting✨ in season 4. Spike is back! And he’s immediately abducted by the government! WHAT? That’s right, our favorite little asshole just got chipped. Now he can’t hurt people unless he wants an instant migraine, and apparently, like, that’s enough? Like, he just goes, k? Guess I can’t do that anymore. Head go ouch if I hit people, so I’m good now. Ok, maybe it wasn’t that simple, but he does get tied up and held hostage at Giles’ house! Which just creates the funniest commentary for basically all the scoobies’ meetings. He does a bit of double crossing to try to get the chip out and screw them over, but hey, that’s pretty valid for a guy that came back to town to kill Buffy.

By season 5, Spike’s basically just your local asshole who reluctantly helps if you pay him. He had a fun moment of realizing he could punch other monsters, so now he’s kinda good? But only bc violence is fun?? Honestly, best reason. This season is where all his ‘I HATE Buffy SO MUCH’ feelings get all confused and he’s like, girl… pretty? So he gets kinda obsessed? I’d like to remind everyone, 0 soul. Absolutely no soul. When Angel lost his soul, he tried to end the world. Ok, thanks for hanging on through our moment of perspective. Now, Spike decides he’s in love, so Buffy gotta die. Lots of mixed feelings for her. Understandable. Mortal enemies, but pretty girl. Seems like a valid moral dilemma to me. So, Spike does some weird shit, but then it gets weirder. He does some nice stuff? Then… some genuinely caring stuff??? Our boy’s in love y’all. Remember, Buffy still hates him, but he’s definitely growing on her. Enough that in the end of season 5, she asks him to protect her sister bc she’s about to die. And when Buffy actually died? Yeah Spike sobbing in the background will always kill me just a little bit every time I see it.

Ok I’m not using the gifs of the sad scenes bc… well I don’t want to. This is my hyperfixation rant, I get to pick the graphics. Ok season 6, my favorite thing to binge watch when I’m fucking depressed bc what the fuck it’s so sad. An entire season of ‘grief, addiction, depression, ptsd, and generally our inner demons are the real villains’. Well, Spike held up to his promise. He protected Dawn, and when Buffy came back, he’d counted the days since she’d died. (Ok that scene always makes me cry and seriously if anyone ever looked at me like THAT I’d probably marry them that day but ANYWAY) So, this season things get kinda weird between Spike and Buffy. He loved her, but he has no soul; therefore, his morals and perspective is kinda shit. Buffy hated Spike still, but she hated herself even more at this point; also, she knew how much he cared about her. So how do all these complicated feelings come together? Well… to be crass, there’s a lot of coming together. Okay yeah I’m the worst. Anyway, they fuck a bunch. Buffy hates herself because she doesn’t want to be alive, and she’s using Spike as a form of self h*rm and as a way to feel something. Spike is being emotionally tormented by the arrangement, but he loves her and figures he’ll take what he can get. Remember! He’s still soulless at this point!! So we have some depressing and angry conversations. And we have… the bathroom scene. Every fan I know hates it. I went to a panel with James Marsters (Spike’s actor) and HE hates it. I’ll always see the scene as super uncomfortable but it’s really complicated because it’s an accumulation of all of their relationship that season and that’s kinda everything I want to say about it bc it’s just too much for rn. But, Spike leaves town.

Season seven folks! Final season! Spike comes back! Sorta!! William returns✨ Spike got his soul!!! He wasn’t cursed like Angel. No, he FOUGHT for it. He wanted to deserve Buffy. Ugh I love him. Unfortunately, getting your soul after being a murderous monster for like 2 centuries tends to drive people a bit bonkers. Especially when you were a soft little poet when you were human. God he’s baby. Well, he decides being sad is for quitters and stops. I’d love to say that’s an exaggeration but like… that’s basically what happens. I love him. Spike is back bitches. And he’s completely in love with Buffy. And she like?? Kinda leans on him for support, but she’s also super tense about real romantic attachments after everything, which is reasonable; so it doesn’t get super far. He just kinda hold her. It’s beautiful. He has his little speech about how she’s it for him, but he doesn’t expect anything from her. So, in a moment that will always break my entire heart, he sacrifices himself, using his soul to power a weapon to bring down the hell mouth and save them all. SPIKE! After everything!! HE DID IT! I’m sorry, but no character’s redemption arc will EVER compare. And the moment, where he “can feel it, Buffy. It’s really there. My soul”. And she grabs his hand, not willing to leave him to die. And their hands are on fire together and he’s just smiling at her and she says she loves him and (god I fucking can’t with this scene) he tells her, “no you don’t. But thanks for saying it.” Fucking kill me, it would hurt less, thanks. So spike burns, saving them all. And Buffy’s last word in the series is, “Spike.”

A beautiful end to Spike, right? Well, he’s not done folks! Nah, death can’t keep this man down! He comes back from the amulet! In Angel (~The Series~). Our boys are back together, now both with souls! So are they friends?? No :)! They hate each other. They loved the same girl and argue about it a lot. They act like weird brothers; always annoying each other and being hella petty. In the end, they grow together, kinda like mold lol. It’s a great end to Spike because it really connects who is was at the beginning and end of his development. Brotp 💙

I’ll always believe that all Spike really knew how to do was love. He was burns countless times, but he always fell again. He was such a good man that even without a soul he helped people and cared about them. He had a ton of flaws and issues, but that’s kinda what made him human, ironically. Spike will always be one of my favorite characters. Sarcastic asshole❤️

Oh hi Vi!!

Yeah I’m alright!! My only plans for tonight ((since it’s 21:45 for me)) are gonna be playing online with my cousin until the god forsaken hours of the morning - plans ((or well, a plan [singular])) I made this morning and am now regretting because as I found out/was reminded a couple hours ago: my mum starts her new NHS placement thingy this week meaning I have to be up at 10am to take care of the dogs. Something I’m not looking forward to as I’m probably not gonna be in bed until something stupid like four-

I would just cancel my plans but I hate doing so and I’ve also been lookin forward to this all morning and I can’t bring myself to do so, so I’m just gonna have to hope for the best and soldier on - yay.

Altho If I hadn’t been doing this, I’d probably of instead been up till similar hours watching Ben 10 themed videos on YouTube, because alas what is life without hyperfixations on shows your both too old for and ended years ago

And I am well aware of the Ben 10 reboot, but I refuse to acknowledge that. Like, I guess I could’ve forgiven it for rebooting the show but I just don’t like how childlike it is. I mean, in hindsight the original shows probably weren’t meant for teenagers either but still I can’t even watch the reboot on account of its simplicity. No hate to anyone who watches it and is older than the recommended age group, but it just isn’t for me.

On top of that they ruined some of the coolest aliens!!! Stinkfky and wildvine basically became human reskins as opposed to weird creepy aliens ((in the OG art style that is)), plus where are ripjaws, ghostfreak and wildmutt? Because when I last checked they weren’t even in the show!! I’m hoping things have since changed and that the characters have been readded, but it’s hard to say with the amount of stuff that comes up when you Google about it what’s clickbait and what’s legit!!!

Then there’s Max. Grandpa Max that is. He used to be this cool old man who was friends with aliens and even dated one at onepoint ((I forgot whether they’re still together it’s been ages since I watched the OG series unfortunately :( )) but now he just kinda seems to be a background character half the time. I mean I’ve seen him do a bit in the reboot, but he’s nowhere near as cool nor ((character))developed as he used to be and that makes me smad ((sad+mad))

But I’m sorry, I kinda ended up ranting here when all you wanted to know was how I was doing and not my entire life story so sorry about that 😅

An Analysis of Castlevania (Netflix)

In response to mean words from a fren.

My dearest Castlevania simps, it is time to rise up.

My friend (who I will be attacking :)) was dissing Castlevania (szns 1-3) after my recent Trevor Badass Belmont post, so now I must indulge myself with a rant on how much I absolutely love this series. This is a five four part thing, sorta long (Sorry? but if you read then you’ll understand why I love it my friend is wrong) it has minor spoilers throughout, but it's been out for a while so, proceed with caution ig.

TL:DR at the bottom folks.

One: The Nostalgia

When I was a (small) kid, my uncle was a senior in high school. (I think, I don’t exactly remember.) He loved video games and he’s part of the reason I love them today. Mostly I only ever watched him play things like Halo, but one day he was playing this 2-D, fight game, killing monsters and kicking butt. (as he described it.) And later he let me take a turn, and I couldn’t exactly tell you I knew what I was doing, but I remember how awesome I felt as some 7 year old kicking vampire arse. Now, I get to see those characters again as a young adult and it brings me back, especially the kicking monster butt parts, which brings me to...

Two: The Fight Scenes

(Light Spoilers) HOLY MOTHER OF GOODNESS, if you would have told 7 year old me, “this is going to be a badass anime one day and you’re going to squeal with excitement,” I would have laughed in your face. But I’m not laughing now. If you’ve watched it then you just know. From Sypha and MAGIC (I stan so hard lemme tell you) And Trevor WITH THE WHIPSSS (Szn 3 Episode 9 THAT SCENE Ashshishgishguhsi) And Alucard WITH MAGIC AND MAGIC SWORD (YES) And just Isaac (Whom we love to hate and hate to love) And all of the Vamps and their kool little fighting quirks. I just love love love how amazing, fast paced, and epic the fight scenes are. And it never felt incorrect. i.e. yeah Cypher uses magic and she always seems to never never run out of stamina, but to me it made sense, she’s trained for her whole life, always on the road and there are times when she does look appropriately winded. @ my friend Or Isaac, he’s powerful yes absolutely, but we still see his human weakness. @ my friend(I think this goes for all humans when compared to the Vamps and Monsters tho...)

Three: The Animation

Can I just say that this is one of the most aesthetically beautiful anime I’ve seen in a while. Like the fight scenes, for instance, when fire engulfs a lot of the screen it looks beautiful. Okay that wasn’t very specific, here, in fight scenes, the lines change. If you look, you’ll notice in intense fight scenes the lines getting harder, intenser I suppose, it therefore adds that intensity. (Especially by season 3.{Szn 3 episode 9, dual whips got me drippin fam XD}) But it was also so smooth and elegant (Hi I really love the fight scenes in this show. :)) On small details: the details in Dracula's castle and Alucard's hold under Gre- that city whose name I cannot spell. Not only that, but the scenery, my particular favorite: When Isaac is ‘forging’ his first set of monsters when he’s out on his own. I’m a sucker for the way from a distance those red flames (flames?) shot up into the sky, it was just *chef’s kiss* in the scenery department, just ahhhh :

Oh, speaking of Isaac, it’s time to get on to important, meatier things...

Four: Characters

First off, the villains/antagonists are not just evil to be evil. (Unless you’re Carmilla... :| ... I mean ig she thinks she’s justified bc hello, she’s fighting for her peoples... and I mean, she’s badass, but I sorta have to side with humans? idk) Big Daddy Baddy Drac isn’t just “I vant to suck your blood,” his pain is real. I mean, losing the only person you ever truly loved? Heartbreak. Isaac and Hector both have totally a plausible and low-key understandable reasons for their actions. Okay it’s not an excuse for their bad behavior, but the way they respond to Drac. And, back to Carmilla, can we just stan the four Queens that rule. The four ruler thing they have going is Genius! It’s brilliant, they share their acquired and unique skills and there’s no mans to ruin plans. @ my friend

Edit: Yo I didn't even touch on our two sibling bastards from szn 3. Lol. They are great manipulators, you can feel the betrayal hurt just as bad. They're the jerks that you LoVE to HATE >:(

And The side characters and minor antagonist give the story life. They aren't just blown off characters who don't promote the plot @ my friend. They add depth, perspective, atmosphere and life into the story. Some may not be particularly necessary, or may not need all the character building they were given, but none of it felt forced. It made sense with the story and the interactions they had with other characters flowed and was natural. Yeah, that was brief, but ya get the point.

And importantly, our protagonists. 

Trevor Belmont, technically the main protagonist and center for the for the entire story. His character instantly pops of the page as a reluctant hero, but one that is so damn good at his job. His emotions are believable, it's fairly easy to sympathize with him and he is a vibrant character that you can easily follow along with. See the badass Belmont post ✨ here ✨

Sypha Belnades has easily become one of my most favorite heroines. Her personality, physicality and entire character are so vivid and colorful. She is a believably strong character who does not deserve the resentment she gets from @ my friend. I admire the steps that her character has gotten to take in the story and I am so excited for more Sypha. Also ✨ M a g i c ✨

Lastly, Alucard, our troubled, half vampire son who deserves the world and a hug. He is introduced as the badass immortal that we love to see, but seeing how he has to deal with well, everything, is why I so love the writers. They gave us a dynamic in which we get to see someone, who at first didn't care or need for interaction with others slowly realize how much he needed it. And you can see the stages of his development through each episode. It's lovely. He also doesn't deserve the hate my friend gives him. Also, ✨ Tiddies ✨ (I'm so sorry omg)

And Extra ! Extra ! they are all attractive, like have you even seen an unattractive face in any of the characters with surplus screen time? Sure they may not be your type (@ my friend) but they each have their good looking qualities.

Five(ish): Dynamics/Relationships

I'm lazy and can't write another paragraph lol, but point is. Everything in the amazing show flows together so well. Nothing feels awkward or forced, and more importantly everything has a cause and effect factor for other things. Maybe not directly, but it's there. And everything will come crashing together soon, can't ya feel it? As for relationships b/t characters, well, what can I say, they work so well, are unakward, and have me begging for more.

TL:DR:

This show is beautiful and amazing, both in animation and writing quality. Characters pop of the screen as do the scenes. Fight scenes = Epic. Villains = Important + Badass. Characters = Relatable. Writing = Good. Scenes = Pretty. Hotel = Trivago.

And I didn't even get into the details. Smh.

Ritsuka quickly realizes that Mafuyu is an exceptionally talented singer, and invites him to join the band. Ritsuka learns that Mafuyu's guitar was previously owned by Yuuki, Mafuyu's childhood friend and boyfriend who died in an apparent suicide. The band begins composing music in advance of a live performance, but Mafuyu is unable to write lyrics for the song.

On the day of the performance, Mafuyu has a breakthrough and sings a powerful song about his feelings of loss over Yuuki. The song prompts Ritsuka to realize his romantic feelings for Mafuyu; he kisses him backstage, and they begin dating shortly thereafter.

The band names itself – "Given", in tribute to the guitar given to Mafuyu by Yuuki – and begin to develop a following after posting a video of their live performance online. Given qualifies for a major amateur music festival, and begin preparing new material. Their efforts are complicated when Akihiko, who Haruki secretly has romantic feelings for, becomes involved with his roommate and ex-boyfriend Ugetsu.

Ok so in the beginning of our show: our first protag mafuyu sato is seen walking to school In the rain (with an umbrella tho lol) he says, as narrator, “mafuyu is not lonely.” And also some other stuff that’s all vibe you know? So THIS is repeated through out the series with him saying that “mafuyu isn’t lonely” especially when something bad happens. The thing is he IS lonely. Why you may ask? Well, his ex boyfriend from middle school killed himself and he thinks it’s his fault and stuff. They had gotten into an argument and he drank himself to death. RIP yuki. The only time where I personally believe this statement of ‘not loneliness’ is true is after Uenoyama (other protagonist and love interest) kisses him. I think that’s very swagger. Right before sed kiss mafuyu sang a song that he wrote at a live performance with da band about his heartbreak with yuki’s death. The person he truly loved. It’s called fuyu no hashi and I recommend you give it a listen it’s really good. Uhm but uhhh he realizes after da kiss that he has a new love ❤️ Ue! Yay canon gay ship time let’s party owah owah

NOW I wanna talk abt the opening and op lyrics. They are SO GOOD. they explain Mafuyu’s situation so we’ll just *mwah*. I think it’s called kizuato. There’s this one part where the singer (which could be interpreted as mafuyu despite it not be8gn his voice) says “Rainy, sunny and cloudy

Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. 365 days. You remain in all of them.” When he says the last line “you remain in all of them” we see mafuyu holding his guitar when a pair of arms wraps around him from behind like a hug. He shifts and kind of like compresses himself? Like you know what would happen if you got a hug. These arms are kinda transparent and they disappear before the line and that clip is over. AT FIRST before I knew about yuki and all that I thoguht they were from his late dad but now I believe the arms belong to yuki. Mafuyu’s dad was abusive and hit him when he spoke and I thoguht that would be the part of his trauma the show focused on but it wasn’t, instead they focused on yuki and his death more. Anyways I thoguht that was cool and representative of what happened pretty well.

Part of it also makes me wanna cry tho. It says “Dig them out. Take away these memories. The invisible voices that wouldn't reach. That Make me suffer/ suffocate me. Search deeper and take a look at this pain inside of me.” Specifically the “take away these memories” part just,, damn. And the invisible voices thing is just too fucking relatable. I’m so sorry Mafuyu

Oh god now I’m getting emotional about fictional boys who play guitar in front of my friends. Sorry guys.

Anyways. Main statement of the song time. “Everything you left behind, became my everything.” D a m n. Not only could he be talking about the guitar the he owns that is from Yuki he could also just be talking about the memories. ‘All the memories you left me, became the only thing that brought me comfort’ and that’s just... so sad man. He LOVED this boy. So much :/ It’s equally as sad with the guitar too. Because of how desperately he wanted to learn to play. For yuki’s sake because YUKI loved music. ‘This guitar you (kinda your mom but wtv lol) gave me, became my life” because it DOES become his life. When he finally accepts new love is after singing fuyu no hanashi. He finally lets go of all the pent up grievance and emotions while singing that song.

Now that point flows perfectly into our next one. It’s a possibility This will be the last one so just bear with me, please! So, one of Mafuyu’s main things is that he never knows how to respond or react the “proper” way. First of all!!!! NEURODIVERGENT KING. Second of all!!!! He talks about how he just doesn’t feel emotions as strongly or just the right way as other people. And how he can’t bring himself to cry and can’t cry despite losing his true love. After the kiss, mafuyu cries. A started clapping for him like yay!!! An icon ❤️ not only did he find a new love and move through some trauma but he also experienced a lot of emotions that he struggles to experience! That’s so good for him 💕💕But yeah he’d been talking about in the show how he just couldn’t “cry or laugh as hard as the other people could” which I can understand very well. It can feel dehumanizing at times so I’m really happy for him. One of the main reasons I kin him!

This brings me into a sort of continuation point about how no thought brain empty emotionless kin time. Sorry o just had to write that out Bc my nose started bleeding and I had to go take care of that and also not forget my clause (again). Mafuyu talks to Uenoyama about how everyone thinks that he doesn’t have emotions or doesn’t have thoughts because of how quiet he is and how emotionless he seems. And how he’s come to kind of believe it himself (a sort of ‘am I really thinking ever’ type beat). Ue kinda-over-aggressively is liek “hell no!!!! No way brain not have thought >:(“ like a old you know? And yes KIN TIME. not to make it about me or anything but I’m also constantly told/it��s joked about how I don’t have emotions. I just kinda roll with it tho.

I wanna say one more thing to end off on a note that isn’t about me but I can’t think of one so let me think. So much for that other one being the last shsndujsjjsidj

:OOOOO ok so I’m rewatching given and I just noticed another thing

So in the beginning, the VERY FIRST thing mafuyu talks about is how he keep shaving the same dream over and over again (this is to himself when he’s walking to school). Then, we see a clip of this dream. He is standing in front of someone (but it’s kinda shadowed so I didn’t see the other person the first time) and his eyes go wide and he grips his guitar so hard one of the strings snap.

Not only do I realize that 1) that dream actually happened: hs8 is a scene from when he fo7nd yuki’s body hanging (mafuyu was the one who found him dead). You can tell from the bottles on the ground (yuki got super drunk and then hung himself). this is why mafuyu’s guitar string is broken for Uenoyama to later fix.

I also realize 2) that this dream actually happened. I realized this when watching the show the first time tho lol. Right before the big concert, mafuyu accidentally breaks his guitar string again. And then Ue has to go run to the music store and buy a new one. That’s why there’s a look of desperation on his face when it happens because, Uenoyama brought his hope back by fixing the string the first time but now he messed it up again. Thank the lord for Haruki and reminding them it can be fixed!

Last thing 3) I talked about the hug scene in the last rant right? Well, when mafuyu broke the strings the first time (upon discovering yuki’s body), he mirrored the motions that he made in the hug scene in the opening. I think I described it as him shifting his body and guitar and like compressing himself? Yeah.

so. up until this point

it’s been quite obvious i hope

that this is the one where The Soulmates Meet™

and this one right here is the one where donghyuk meets his future wifenew best (not) friend

that day you accidentally sleep in after a late night and walk into your lecture looking pretty trashier than you would normally a few weeks into the first sem and you’re already tired it’s okay bby aww

and mark suggests skipping the next lecture and going for coffee instead

you’re like ok lmfao free coffee for me yay thanks marcus i owe you one

and to make up for the lecture he suggests he join you and your roommate with his own roommate in the library later that day to study the material you’d missed out on

so you’re like sweet study group hell yeah and apparently his roommate is also in biomed like your roommate? hey they might get along pretty well it’d be nice to have roommates in the same faculty hey

little do you know you little cutie you uwu

mark takes you to a cafe to buy you your favourite drink and a croissant bc you skipped breakfast again and he cares about his friends ok plus he was eyeing that donut next to the savoury menu in the glass cabinet and he would have felt bad if he got something to eat and you didn’t

you sit down, sipping your drink at the window seats and wishing your fatigue away

laughing with mark about what you slept so late for

my/n had been ranting about her love life again or perhaps lack thereof,,

don’t worry tho

after you’d gotten her to sleep, you’d gotten major feels for an essay question that you’d been tasked with due in a week but you hadn’t touched it until last night

staring at the prompt for at least half an hour trying to get your head around it and wondering what the hell you’d write about

but like they say

starting is half of it

so when you start spinning your words and getting into the writing mood

you accidentally wrote an entire draft without realising

albeit being full of loose ends and points you need to refine, etc., it was a decent body of work that you’d tackle for a few more nights before turning in

a skeleton, you’d called it

“a skeleton?”

“yeah. next thing i need to do is.. flesh it out”

cue mark’s small pause

you know how mark’s laugh is very how do i put this into words hm dictated

you can HEAR each HA and they’re separate syllables yet sometimes they can vary in tone and length right it’s usually the more consistent HAs before he kinda loses it and starts throwing himself around

it was that laugh

honestly man finds everything funny his laughing threshold seems so low

and no matter how unfunny you are he WILL laugh at anything you say

and you’ve been doing it a lot lately

you could say literally any random thing and he’d already be ready to laugh (see Figure 1.1)

so after you finish up your breakfast at the cafe you go back to your dorm to take a power nap and recharge before your library session you were going to stay awake but mark forces you to take a nap and you’re like bro you just fed me caffeine now you want me to sleep??

then he tells you he ordered your drink decaf

you turn to him real slow

“.. you sick traitor. how dare you besmirch my name so. you scorn my forefathers and our dependence on the holy bean’s juices. betrayal runs rampant in your soul and mine stands at the mercy of your choices, them informed by the devil himself”

mark: /shrug/ “placebo effect yeet. hey, it worked for a bit. now you should really go home and get your sleep”

and he drags you back to your dorm and waves you off before going to his next class

you’re lowkey grateful for it tho when you take a shower and collapse onto your bed, falling asleep in what you think could be half the time you usually take

dreaming about losing your airpods and mark yelling at you to be more careful and then you two fighting bc you’d just lost your $300 bean sprouts but you could have sworn he took them

then police sirens went off out of nowhere and both of you were being arrested for assault and thievery

why you were the one being arrested, you had no idea but it’s a dream nothing follows the guidelines of hard reality anyway

just as you’re about to be handcuffed, you think to yourself, nope. i have a library session to attend. ain’t nobody got time for this shit

and you just

wake up

but the sirens are still continuing?? so you’re like ? is my building surrounded

they’ve come for me

even though you haven’t exactly broken any laws or have you

and you realise it was the alarm you’d set in time to get ready for your library session

so you grab your stuff and leave for the library, double checking with your roommate over text to make sure she was on her way

her lab class was taking longer than usual so she tells you she’ll be 10 or so minutes late

so you tell her you’ll be saving a seat for her and call mark to let him know you’re on your way to the library

“oh i’m already here lol. alright, i’m waiting for you outside”

and sure enough, you see him leaning on the wall of the entrance, eyes on his phone

you consider calling out to him but before you actually do, he glances up and spots you walking over tf do you have psychic spatial awareness mark

smiles and takes his corded earphones out

“you seriously need to upgrade those”

“they work fine”

“nop i’m getting you airpods for your birthday”

mark laughs at you trying to get to the table as fast as you could without all out running

getting out your things, you send a photo of your seat to your roommate and tell mark to send it to his roommate as well so they know where to find you

you start watching the lecture online while taking notes and since you’re not in the lecture theatre you can talk more audibly with mark not that you don’t talk in the actual lecture too,,

maybe you do text a lot,,, during class

mark usually says things like “.. implications of what now?? interpretation of huh?” to which you reply “i want cheese when i get home”

and he has to stifle his laughter while you keep your straight face and continue writing your notes he admires this ability ngl

and so while you’re watching it on your computer

you can say things like “fuck. i want pickles”

and mark will /throw himself back/ and cackle and probably say some shit like “DIDN’T YOU HATE PICKLES??” between his giggles

and you’re like “yeah. fuck pickles but like. fuck. pickles”

he almost falls off his chair at this point

but when he balances himself again he spots someone down the corridor and wave them over

you turn to glance at them to expect his roommate, but you see your own roommate talking to someone and wave her over as well

you see the other person turn to your roommate and tell her something, , then she says something back

which is apparently shocking to them, because he glances over at mark and then at you

and then he looks again when your roommate points straight at you

to which you’re like ?? hi? y u look me

and then they both start laughing

you wonder if they were laughing at you or smth until mark’s like “tf is that idiot doing”

and u look at him like ? what idiot

“that idiot. the idiot roommate i told u about. the one who called u a homewrecker”

then he wipes his smile off his face and he’s like “who said we’re split”

mark and my/n are doing the /MANIACAL LAUGHTER/ at this point

mark: “so ,, seriously what are the chances”

you: “this quartet,, it’s fate guys it’s fate there’s no way about it”

even that four seater table was free because of fate

donghyuk: “this calls for drinks later. we all free? no 9am classes tmr?”

my/n: “we have a physics prac at 8:30 dingus”

donghyuk: “ah shit”

you barely got any notes for that lecture for at least an hour because you end up talking altogether throughout the session but once you remember you’re in a library to study you request a ceasefire and agree to study for a bit which,, you gotta admit ,, isn’t really productive because you’re so excited to meet someone new

but the best part about the day was when you notice how many times mark is glancing at your roommate while she’s reviewing her notes, completely oblivious

donghyuk complains that he’s hungry after another hour or two and you suggest you all have dinner together

donghyuk leans back in his chair in a stretch, his jumper lifting up a little over his jeans and showing a bit of his belly “ah i’m craving chinese”

you perk up, “mE TOO”

so you all go to your favourite chinese place just outside campus where you find out that mark and my/n have the same taste and so do you and donghyuk

he points and u and goes “oH?”

“jjAMPPONG? U TOO?”

“the ONLY DISH EVER”

mark and my/n: jjajang is fine : )

you and donghyuk: “JJAMPPONG IS SUPERIOR”

give him a bro five with the shoulder bump and everything

the boys walk you and my/n back to your dorm afterwards

*top 5 magnum pi episodes and why?

oh this is a hard one

for magnum im actually pretty bad at picking episodes and not just moments bc i totally watch the show for more than just the ship ha what so here's my top 5 for today because i can't really decide lol

1x19 - i feel like this isn’t most people’s #1 but i just love this episode. im a sucker for half of my ship in danger trope and this is one of the few times in the series that its higgins in danger. i love their banter, i love the rest of the crew hunting for them, i love love love the flashbacks to them first meeting, and i just love the aesthetic of the episode? 

2x08 - yo this episodeeeee. first big test magnum and higgins have as business partners and they pass? with flying colors?? magnums FACE when he realizes he hurt her feelings is everything, higgins roasting him all episode instead of telling him what's wrong is comical, and their end scene when they make up is iconic. iconic i tell you.

2x03 - ok you knew this was coming. need i say more?? as much as magnum pi is a ~mystery action show~ i’m rarely on the edge of my seat during episodes. this one tho?!? whew. besides the obvious partner scene at the end, i love the way he remembers higgins is listening to the battle of hastings, knows what the battle teaches, and implements it. i love me some kumu and higgins bonding, i love the team up of everyone saving magnum at the end, and i loved the suspense

1x09 - this is the episode where they help amanda sako (the kidnapping victim). this is probably the first episode i felt really solidified magnum and higgins partnership. they are such a team in this episode. i loved seeing higgins bond with amanda and i loooved magnum bonding with her. also higgins gets a much more in depth look at magnum and why he is who he is and i just really love that? if i had to pick one episode to be a character study of magnum it would be this one

1x15 - ok ok not a big hannah fan obviously but this episode is super intense and really good. this is another really good partner episode for magnum and higgins and it finally answered the looming question in s1 of who broke magnums heart (and why they were captured...u suck hannah.) the hospital scene at the end is such a great set up for miggy and again lets higgins see even more of magnum (’handle with care’ like you really gonna come at me with that tiva vibe ok). also the shot of higgins walking past hannah to magnum is *chefs kiss*

(honorable mentions: 2x12 (crossover ep, blanket scene, not so subtle convos and flirty dancing), 2x06 (abby WHO??), & 1x20 (ohana fam off the grid leggo)

....ok so y'all should really know better than to ask me why because i will rant for hours but tysm for this ask! yall tell me which ones are your favorite (i know @hpfangirl13 is gonna yell at me for 2x03 being 3rd lol)

9. What episodes best encapsulate the brother's relationship? Does this change throughout the series? Doesn't have to be the best episode btw.

I feel like their relationship definitely changes a bit over the course of the show, but not super significantly. Like they definitely keep that weird codependent thing throughout but their trust levels with each other fluctuate a fair bit and there's less sibling banter at times because of that.

I think any episode where one of them dies does pretty well to show that codependency, the way they just do a complete switch of "Fuck everything else, I'm not doing shit until he's back."

1.17 shows the prank wars and let's us know that they have a history of pranking each other, which is a nice little insight to an almost normal sibling dynamic rather than what we see more of throughout the show (I'm referring specifically about how Dean essentially raised Sam for their entire lives, this blog is NOT SAFE for winc*st shippers. If you ship them, block me.)

When Ruby 2.0 is brought in, that's where we really see their dynamic change as Dean starts to trust Sam less and less, and how Sam gets angrier and more frustrated with Dean because he's convinced himself he's doing this for the right reasons.

In 1.18, we get the shtriga episode, which is a good insight into both how Sam and Dean were raised, and ALSO how Sam has always been Dean's responsibility. Hell, this is set up straight from episode one when we see Dean carrying baby Sam out of their burning house. 1.18 gives us more context to John leaving Dean to take care of Sam a lot more than just that one instance of John trying to save Mary at the start. It's something that continued through their whole lives.

This is shown again in 4.13, although much less, as that episode focused more on Sam during school. We still see though that John would leave Sam and Dean alone for weeks at a time in a motel and Dean would be responsible for taking care of Sam (i.e. when Dean offers/threatens to beat up the kid that tried bullying Sam.)

Speaking of Dean's raising Sam, that also brings up the Gadreel arc. Dean's primary job growing up was always "look after Sammy, don't let anything happen to Sammy," and this persisted even when he became an adult and long after John passed. Dean is often willing to do whatever he has to if it means keeping Sam safe, I think both because Sam is the only blood family he has left, and also because even with John gone, there's still that lingering thought of "Dad will be mad." (Insert that quote about 'if there is an angry man in your home once, there will always be an angry man in your home even when there isn't' here.)

Honestly I could go on about this forever if I really wanted to look up specific episodes and really get into it, but that's a long enough answer for now haha

12. Symbolism: tell me about some cool symbolism in SPN! Your pick!

Okay I don't have a long rant about this, I just think a lot about that scene with Cas in season 4 with the light flickering above him and go absolutely feral

Like we knew for a good portion of that season that Cas would fall or rebel but that scene has me foaming at the mouth everytime, I can't do this

30. Make up a fact about a character and convince me it's true.

I think Dean really likes Ghibli movies and he will never admit it but his favorite one is Ponyo because Jack likes it and they watched it once during movie night and Dean got very quietly and privately emotional about the whole thing because he was never supposed to have moments like that but there he is, with his brother and Cas and their son having this little domestic moment and watching a kids movie with his family

He also likes Princess Mononoke but he's less secretive about that one. If anyone accuses him of liking Ponyo best, he will vehemently deny it because it's too childish and not many enough (bc y'know, toxic masculinity and all sorts of internalized phobias and all that, or as I like to call it, Raised by John Winchester Syndrome) but Ponyo is his favorite because it reminds him of his family and these little soft moments they get to have sometimes where he makes them popcorn and they can get comfy on the couch and relax and have a nice time together because despite it all, Dean isn't his father, and he isn't "daddy's blunt little instrument," and he doesn't just want to use his hands to kill, he wants to care for and nurture and protect and love and be a better man than his father ever was and raise a kid better than John ever could.

(I also think he'd like it because he'd watch it and it would remind him of watching movies with Mary when he was little and he thinks she would like Ponyo too.)

Omg I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it! I hope you're ready for this MASSIVE answer and you don't get too bored reading this one!

CHERRY MAGIC!!!!!! It instantly became a comfort show for me, as it did for many others!

ADACHIADACHIADACHIADACHI. Adachi is 100% my fave. I never fully understood what a comfort character was. I was like, "yeah! I love Tine also!" But. Adachi is the definition of comfort for me. I see so much of myself in him! Everyone sees him and is like "babie. Must protecc." And honestly? Me too. How can one character be so damn CUTE??!?!? One of my favourite moments is him seeing Kurosawa after the almost-kiss. He just like, sees him, and gets so panicked 🥺 the way his arms just flail about makes me smile like an idiot.

But like, on a deeper level, this drama makes me believe I'm worthy of love. The idea that someone like Kurosawa could be THAT infatuated with you, even though you're an awkward virgin lmao. The point of watching these dramas is to get lost in a story, right? See a situation you want so badly but you know will never realistically happen? The entire premise of the show is just really enticing to me. I am Adachi, Adachi is me. Also, the thing he said in ep6 about not having a clear dream in life? Yeah. I felt that. I'm so envious of people who have passions they work so hard for, it gives them a form of purpose. Like Adachi, sometimes I feel like I'm living in a "daze". I feel like I don't really have any specific passions or skills that I want to develop into a career. Sometimes I just wish I had ambition. Adachi makes me feel so seen and like I'm not the only person who feels like this. The kinds of characters that usually make good protagonists are characters with a clear goal/passion. In most shows this obviously really works, but I can never relate to them personally. It's really special for me to see a character who's similar to me in this way.

Kurosawa is such an amazing character too!!!!! His gay little heart 🥺 on another level, he's just so?? Respectful??? 7. YEARS. 7 years of pining and he holds himself back so well!! He's been waiting for this relationship for so long but is so patient, willing to take things slowly for Adachi. He flirts shamelessly (as he should) but never to the point where Adachi was too uncomfortable.

He cares so much about Adachi :(. But also, even before he liked Adachi, he could tell he was uncomfortable with the drinking thing, so he DOWNED the wine lmao. Clearly he's just a lovely person all round who's really socially aware.

As for other characters:

• Udon my baby!!!! The cutest cat ever!! I love animals sm :(((

• Tsuge's chaotic energy is iconic

• Minato a lovely little dance machine :))

I ADORED ep8!!! I LIVE for established Adasawa! Adachi coming out to Tsuge :((( I'm so proud of Adachi coming to terms with his feelings and being confident enough to share his relationship with his closest friend. Coming out is not easy and he did so well 🥺

Adachi and Tsuge are so useless bless them 😂 Kurosawa really said "well I guess I have to take these two socially awkward disasters under my wing." Adachi and Tsuge are such a chaotic duo, I love that they can communicate just by touching each other, and omg when Kurosawa said his name Tsuge was "wait maybe I know everything about you already" and if that isn't friendship idk what is

Also Kurosawa making up a poem in his head about Adachi???? Peak romance. Also iconic. I'M A SUCKER FOR HAND HOLDING SCENES SO I DIED. "I like him. I like him. I like him!!" HOW CUTE CAN YOU GET FJKHDSHSKSK

I also got another arm flailing moment when Kurosawa almost got the wrong idea about Adachi and Tsuge!! CAN ADACHI STOP BEING SO CUTE MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT. How on earth his boyfriend is still alive I have no idea.

They made the first part of my quarantine bearable bc I always had something to look forward to every Friday. I actually really enjoyed quarantine overall as an introvert (not to be insensitive about the literal deaths the pandemic has caused), but I really enjoyed constantly thinking about how long it was until Friday. I'm massively emotionally attached to all of the characters in this show you have no idea. Every single one. The found family of it all,, the way all of the characters have relationships. Still2gether did a phenomenal job of showcasing all of the unexpected but very welcome dynamics and relationships, platonic and romantic alike. I could blabber about this show for so long I'll spare u for now

2. YYY

Is it well written? No. Did I enjoy it anyway?? You know it! I told you how much I love the found family trope. UGH. THIS FAMILY. Also, seeing the feminine side of the LGBT+ community represented positively warmed my heart. There needs to be more bls that do that! Celebrate femininity!! There's nothing wrong with being camp as fuck! It's so much fun!!! This show made me so happy :))

3. Start up

I'm currently obsessed. It's my first Kdrama and holy shit this is what the hype is about. The budget!! The acting! Top notch. On a sad note I really wish bls got that much funding behind them. My heart aches for a complicated story with fully developed characters and plotlines, that just happens to have a gay main couple/character. Wishful thinking for now at least. Anyways, I'm massively emotionally attached to Halmeoni and Jipyeong. Team Jipyeong all the way (even tho Dalmi's obviously gonna end up with Dosan, and I'm happy for them!). All I need is a happy ending for my darling Jipyeong. Please give him one. Also, if anything happens to Halmeoni I will WEEP.

5. 3 will be free

I would never have expected gmm to make a series like this! But they went and did THAT. Wild. It was such a healthy representation of a poly relationship. The themes of feminism were so well handled and powerful, the chemistry was off the CHARTS, I was hooked from start to finish! Time for a rewatch? I think so.

6. Feel good

Not an Asian drama, but still gay as FUCK. It's written by my wife Mae Martin who also stars in it, and I have to say, it blew me away. Story time!! My friend irl recommended it to me without saying it was Mae, so I was like "okay sure I'll put it on my to watch list I guess" without much motivation to watch it. But as soon as I found out it was Mae I watched it and I've never looked back lol. Once I finished I sent my friend a splurge of messages about my feelings. The series touches on issues like addiction, sexuality and gender. "I'm not a boy. I'm not even a girl. I'm like a failed version of both." That shit HURT.

There's a scene near the end which has really stayed with me. So Mae's character is a comedian and she does a set making jokes about the stuff that happened in the series and oh my GOD. The way I CRIED. It made me realise that people who make jokes about their experiences are using humour as a coping mechanism and when people say "Haha I have daddy issues isn't it funny" we have to remember to be respectful. It's never okay to make jokes about someone else's trauma. Don't make a big deal of it but just don't be a dick.

Anyways I could go on but would 100% recommend this series!

7. HIStory 2 crossing the line

My first bl! This series is the reason I'm so obsessed with bl lmao. The main couple are so soft :( this little series will always hold a special place in my heart!

8. Sotus

My first gmm series, we've come a long way. I miss Kong and Arthit :(

9. Dark blue kiss

Such a brilliant series. I trust P'Aof (director) with my life. This series touches on issues that are so important and deserve to be talked about so much more in bls. This is what happens when you let LGBT people tell LGBT stories! They do it with such care and love!! One of my favourite lines is "I may like men, but I'll never like your brother." One of my biggest let peeves is "I don't like men, I only like x." Like, I get the business behind it, they don't want to make the character gay to make them available for girls to fantasise about. Which is disgusting. But Mork really said "no. ❤" and I LOVE IT.

10. The shipper

I could go on and on about how underrated I think this series is. This series took over from 2gether on Fridays, and while I didn't think about this series constantly like I did with 2gether, this series made my quarantine brighter. Fridays meant I was gonna laugh at least once and forget about life just for a short while. The humour in this series is so fucking dumb lmao, but I'm here for it.

I've seen people talk about the shipper as a bl but I disagree. I think it's better described as a series with bl aspects. The main themes are friendship, family, dealing with loss, respecting boundaries of people you admire, and one of the main messages is about making sure the people close to you know how much they mean to you. Don't get me wrong, the majority of the series is over the top humour, but by the end of it I was personally really attached to the characters and their feelings. Overall I really enjoyed this series but I don't see anyone properly talk about it :(

11. Gaya sa pelikula

A series made by gay people for gay people. Shows like this are so important. This show really healed my soul with how brilliant the representation was :(( "remember we talked about microagressions" the way that means Vlad is constantly educating Karl about LGBT stuff, UGH. SO GOOD. Also this show has the most realistic representation of a crush I've ever seen lmao, soft Vlad is the best Vlad.

12. My engineer

My happy little Saturday show :( I miss the shit writing, shit acting and soft story of this series so much. I'm so fond of this series, I watched it after the horrible ep12 of 2gether and it really made me happy. I'm looking forward to season 2, but Ramking's novel goes DOWNHILL from here on. I know tricreation wouldn't allow the final chapter's scenes, but the entire story is so problematic and unenjoyable :(. The only valid scene is King's coming out scene but that's literally it. And the collar scene can stay lmao.

13. Oxygen

Another soft saturday series! I love this series so much, all of the couples are so bloody healthy and it makes me so happy. The communication is amazing!! THIS is how you show healthy relationships!!!

14. The gifted

S1 was so amazing!! I loved all of it! The only part of s2 we'll talk about is timegracethird. Time best boy!! Grace a feminist queen! When future Grace said they would be friends for a long time that made me so happy :(( also pangwave canon

15. Until we meet again

So I talked about the healthy relationships in oxygen. But uwma really showed the healthiest relationship ever. DeanPharm are just the softest little humans :( I would die for Pharm. He's the closest I got to a comfort character before Adachi. I just have to PROTECT HIM. My motherly instincts really kick in when I see him lmao.

The storyline of this series is just breathtaking. And the ending? I don't think I've ever cried that much. At all. It was so fucking beautiful 🥺

16. My gear and your gown

I really liked this show! Honestly I don't think I'll ever rewatch it but I definitely enjoyed it. The way Pai just seemed to breathe freely for the first time when his parents accepted his sexuality :(((( my baby :( also purefolk were brilliant

These two are the definition of romance. They mean the fucking world to me. The fact that their story is apparently gonna be continued in some form makes me so. So. Happy. I cannot begin to describe it. My bet is on a special episode and ugh I'm so EXCITED.

2. Aini

Thonhonchonlatee in general is enjoyable but I don't like Thon at all. It's such a shame bc I was so excited for Khaotung and Podd to be in a series together :((. BUT. Aini have grabbed my heart. I knew they would bc miketap are brilliant, but wow. They're so gay my little babies :( miketap are just so natural and comfortable to watch. I love their chemistry so muuuuuuch

3. Sunmork

4. Ramking

One of my fave ships. As I mentioned, I'm apprehensive about s2, but s1 ramking is such a beautiful story. It's just about 2 boys falling in love, no complications. Plant boy who's afraid of dogs falls in love with quiet boy who loves dogs but is afraid of children. Iconic. Also chemistry outsold, I THINK ABOUT THE KISS CONSTANTLY. When I mentioned the acting is shit in this series (shit is harsh, I mean awkward), I did not mean Perth and Lay in the slightest. They really nailed their roles and I loved it.

5. Professor Layton x Claire

You 100% won't get this reference but I grew up with the Professor Layton games and holy shit do they hold up. They're so amazingly written with beautiful stories and the most lovable characters in the world. Layton's intellect, loving nature and surprising athleticism are admirable. Adachi is the character I relate to most, but if I was gonna choose a character to comfort me irl, Layton's your man. His voice is so comforting by nature. I'm blabbering at this point but the point is him and Claire are the only het pairing that matters.

These are just the ships that I felt should be separate from their shows. I love all of the ships from the shows I mentioned.

Oof this got horrifically long, I haven't had a proper chance to rant about most of these shows so I really let it out lol. I hope you've watched at least some of these shows and I didn't just rant to u about 12 shows you've never heard of 😂
