Comparison of street legal LED head lamp inserts:

Left: Street Triple 675 R with two J.W.Speaker 8690 5,75“ head lamp LED inserts (setup at around ~800 - 1.000 Euros);

Right: Speed Triple 1050 SE with two Osram Night Breaker H4 LED replacement bulbs (each LED light bulb ~60 - 75 Euro)

The Osram LED replacement bulbs maintain the „classical“ look of the twin head lamp setup. If these become street legal for the twin head lamps of the 675 Street Triple the heavier J.W. Speaker item will be replaced again for a more OEM type look. (Same for the 955i Speed Triple)

Short test ride: The Öhlins cartridge provides stability and precision, supported by the Wilbers 641 shock at the rear suspension; the Michelin Power GP2 tires give a lot of confidence and improved handling. Currently the best suspension setup I have ever ridden on a NJ515 Speed Triple model.

Finally! With the Osram Night Breaker H4 LEDs (for motorcycles) we finally get street legal (in Germany) replacement bulbs for the Triumph 1050 Speed Triple NJ515 models (2005 - 2010, lamp glasses need to show „E13 8758“). These replace on this specific 1050 SE model already improved standard H4 bulbs (Osram Night Breaker H4 200) which was a plug and play afair. (With some detour by cleaning up the interior of the head light units with a bit of isopropyl alcohol.) The new LEDs are claimed to have bright 6.000 K light temperature and to have 230% better light than the standard bulbs (which make the OEM head lights only a little bit better than holding a candle into the night: The twin stock head lights of the 1050 Speed Triples may be iconic, but these are not the brightest…)

The lower rear suspension linkage was checked and the bearings were still ok, but the seals were cause to unnessary friction. The linkage was replaced nonetheless with a new one that was recently bought and assembled for the 955i (but was not needed there as the original one was still ok) as it showed less friction. While at it, the y-connector of the exhaust and the end cans were cleaned up again with Autosol Blueing Remover.

Maintenance: Rear axle greased, excenter assembly cleaned, rear brake caliper cleaned, chain adjusted and drylubed.
