Arielle Silver is a consummate storyteller whose rich, expressive voice and acoustic guitar frame expansive melodies that echo her tours and travels across the American heartland. Raised on folk festival fields and synagogue pews, in woodsy and watery places up and down the Atlantic Seaboard, Arielle now lives in Los Angeles, just a traffic jam away from the Pacific Ocean.
Out in Fall 2023, her fifth album WATERSHED is an earthy, luminous, and literate collection of songs that emerged from the watershed moments of the pandemic. This follows her 2020 album, A THOUSAND TINY TORCHES. Music Connection calls her "“A born communicator... exudes intelligence and humanity.” The SoCal Sound program director calls her "an incredible singer-songwriter right in our backyard." hey! i was looking through your newjeans tag and saw that you "feel guilty" listening to them. may i ask why? i just started listening to them and i don't know what happened.
at that time, there was a pretty serious scandal about min heejin, newjeans' producer. she previously worked at sm and was a creative director for many iconic sm albums. she left to create her own group in a sublabel of hybe : newjeans.
even though, hj git a lot of praise for nj's strong debut, alot of ppl also critisized her for having a full of minor (the youngest is 14 and the oldest is 18). it didn't help that one of their debut song cookie, had some controversies due to its lyrics (s*xual hint though out the song).
i tried to be as much factual as i can but you can clearly understand the serious issue concerning newjeans and in more general kpop. kpop idols are becoming younger and younger when the industry is sadly known for harsh treatments behind close doors.
that's why i said i felt guilty to them. but while writing this, i do feel like an hypocrite bc all of my ults debuted around the same age as newjeans. but since they were still older than i, i didn't see a problem with it when it's truly a problem.

I remember my 1st impression of nct dream back in 2016. I am soooo uncomfortable watching underage kids performing on screen. mind you I was 22 at that time, I immediately not interested at all. and also my 1st thought was 'this group won't go far' 💀💀💀 I know I'm so bad at this kdjdjdj. fast forward when they had cb with Ridin. I'm interested again and had no idea they were the same group lmfao clown me. here I am being a dreamzen and biggest supporter 😭✋🏼 so I cannot imagine how people are comfortable watching NJ and other underage idols.. at least wait for them turning 18/20 or something
right like dream is completely different now and in my opinion they could have waited a couple years to debut just to grow up a bit more so that they weren’t KIDS like the the early dream concept wasn’t even that good anyway 🫤 the whole thing was just weird. and what a coincidence mhj the creative director left sm and started the company nj is under. obviously other people are are at fault too for approving it but we all know what she’s like

You know the director of ador was in SM, she brings a lot of success. But a few come back she creates came with a lot of controversies especially at the end, even with the korean public. I always wonder if her departure was her decision.
Yes, when NJ debut and the scandal blow up, i learn she was the creative director there, and how the fandoms of F(x) and Shinee already were vocal about her and his questionable things, especially with the maknaes

They’re saying “It was only one man” and “Most fans of nj are women,” as of women can’t be predatory. The thing is, a woman doesn’t even have to be attracted to them in order to prey on young girls. The amount of online spaces there are across social media platforms filled with women that essentially romanticize and make p*dophilia an aesthetic and grooom young girls who come across it. Like, literally their creative director.
yes absolutely, the ‘their fans are mostly women’ narrative does not make it better one bit! grown women being their fans is still messed up and disturbing, even if there’s no attraction bcs why are u at 40 years old stanning a 13yo…….let’s contemplate that for a second! there is literally no way to sway their debut in a positive light imo - grown men and women who become their fans do so for predatory and malicious reasons, and young people (mostly girls) who become their fans get exposed to dangerous fan environments and individuals 😐 just very saddening

Tumblr media
originally published: 04/03/2024
(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents the 2024 INKubator New Play Festival from May 13-21. This year's playwrights are Upasna Barath, Amanda Sage Comerford, Leo Layla Díaz, Neil Levi, Dave Osmundsen, and Marcus Scott. Audiences who attend the festival will have the opportunity to participate in conversations with the writers, directors, and actors following each performance. All readings are free to attend, but advanced registration is required.
INKubator is a year-long generative process for a select group of six playwrights in residence at Art House Productions. During the program, playwrights meet on a monthly basis alongside program director Alex Tobey to share new work, receive feedback, and develop a first draft of a new play. The program culminates in the INKubator New Play Festival, where the playwrights work with professional directors and actors to hear the play read aloud for the first time. Casting will be announced at a later date.
"It's incredible to think six years have flown by since our first INKubator cohort in 2018," remarks program director Alex Tobey. "Since then, INKubator has nurtured 38 playwrights, with their works seen in readings and productions nationwide. I’m excited to showcase New Jersey's top playwrights once more, and unite artists and audiences to foster new play development in Jersey City."

In this drama with a surrealist twist, Ananya and Nathan realize the complexities of their relationship are inextricably tied to their industry.
Wednesday, May 15 at 7:00pm - We’d Rather Know If You Weren’t Coming Back by Dave Osmundsen, directed by Mack Brown. In a seaside town called Crichton-by-the-Sea, a young Autistic woman becomes a tour guide for a local ghost tour company. A new play about the places and people we haunt, and the people and places we allow to haunt us.
Monday, May 20 at 7:00pm - The Rip by Neil Levi, directed by Isabel Perry. A coastal town on the edge of a vast ocean. Two teenage brothers defy their parents’ prohibition and head to the beach, where hostile locals and a menacing sea await them. Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00pm - Talk to Me, Ocey Snead by Amanda Sage Comerford, directed by Jessica Brater. In this bizarre yet true New Jersey tale of spectacle, scandal and betrayal, a bathtub drowning quickly becomes a murder mystery. As three sisters cloaked in black emerge as the prime suspects, local sleuths set out to discover not only what’s real, but what lies behind the veils.
Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00pm - Bizarro World by Marcus Scott, directed by Martavius Parrish. A clique of young entrepreneurial computer programmers—all diversity hires at a Big Tech company in Silicon Valley—decide to strike out on their own by creating an innovative, one-of-kind simulated reality affinity space that comes complete with a truly revolutionary and singular artificial intelligence–powered virtual assistant. When a power grab commences and power players try getting ahold of the algorithm that will launch the group into the upper echelon of the tech world, they make a last-minute addition before launching. There’s just one thing they weren’t counting on and now all hell is about to break loose. Part office comedy, part sci-fi techno-thriller, Bizarro World explores machine learning, unlearning, the dualities of justice and injustice, equity and equality, visibility and representation, surveillance and over-policing in the digital age.

NASA Announces Semifinalists of Power to Explore Challenge - NASA

NASA Announces Semifinalists of Power to Explore Challenge - NASA
NASA selected 45 student essays as semifinalists of its 2024 Power to Explore Challenge, a national competition for K-12 students featuring the enabling power of radioisotopes.
NASA selected 45 student essays as semifinalists of its 2024 Power to Explore Challenge, a national competition for K-12 students featuring the enabling power of radioisotopes. Contestants were challenged to explore how NASA has powered some of its most famous science missions and to dream up how their personal “superpower” would energize their success on their own radioisotope-powered science mission. The competition asked students to learn about Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS), “nuclear batteries” that NASA uses to explore the harshest, darkest, and dustiest parts of our solar system. RPS have enabled many spacecraft to conduct otherwise impossible missions in total darkness.
In 250 words or less, students wrote about a mission of their own that would use these space power systems and described their own power to achieve their mission goals. The challenges of space exploration without solar power are especially relevant ahead of the United States’ upcoming April 8 total solar eclipse, which will offer a momentary glimpse into what life would be like without sunlight.
Carl Sandifer
Program Manager, Radioisotope Power Systems Program.
The Power to Explore Challenge offered students the opportunity to learn more about these reliable power systems, celebrate their own strengths, and interact with NASA’s diverse workforce. This year’s contest received 1,787 submitted entries from 48 states and Puerto Rico.
“It has been so exciting to see how many students across the nation have submitted essays to NASA’s Power to Explore Challenge,” said Carl Sandifer, program manager of the Radioisotope Power Systems Program at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. “We have been thrilled to read their creative RPS-powered mission concepts and have been inspired learning about their many ‘superpowers’ that make them the bright future of NASA – the Artemis Generation.”
Entries were split into three categories: grades K-4, 5-8, and 9-12. Every student who submitted an entry received a digital certificate, and over 4,094 participants who signed up received an invitation to the Power Up virtual event. With NASA’s Associate Administrator for the Science Mission Directorate Nicola Fox, NASA’s Radioisotope Power Systems Program Manager Carl Sandifer, and Kim Rink of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in
Southern California, students learned about what powers the NASA workforce to dream big and work together to explore.
Fifteen national semifinalists in each grade category (45 semifinalists total) have been selected. These participants also will receive a NASA RPS prize pack. Finalists for this challenge will be announced on April 8 in celebration of the total solar eclipse.

good for neos for not engaging underage kpop idols 💀💀💀💀✋🏼 they probably never heard of NJ lmfao. they only know nct dream who debut at 15 y/o
they definitely know who nj are like they’re a hybe group and they’re huge atm, plus it’s their old creative director’s group. i wouldn’t have blamed him if he had happened to know a few more of the words either like their songs are inescapable right now but i’m glad to see he has so little interest in them, i’ll be sleeping well tonight 😌

f(x) is my favorite group and im really into in newjeans, i love the concept and songs are very catchy and reminds me a lot f(x) in terms of being an experimental and innovative and I thought the album design package was very smart and beautiful (the bag also super cute), i do think min heejin so smart and innovative but I hope she doesn't sexualize the girls, I'm sad that there's this weird side in newjeans I hope the girls are protected from weird people, they are too young to go through all this :(((
As someone that was really into F(x) at their time, i don't think NJ is experimental, what they have in common is that both groups bring a sound that is not on the "trend" at that time but F(x) focused on the experimental future sound we have been seeing on the past 5 years, and NJ has a past sound with the Y2K
Min heejin was the creative director of some work for F(x) so i understand some comparisons regarding their aesthetics, and we can't deny she has brought something different to the table. But remember she is already suspected of glamourizing p*, how much those girls can be protected when their own CEO is considered a creep? and let's not forget the weird adults that are "supporting" the group 😥
Unfortunately, fans can't protect them and we can only hope they are safe and nothing happen to them, and like you say they are too young but when people accept and support kids in the industry, shit can happen
I value that you worry about them, and if you support the group, just pay attention to some weird things, that's the only way some things can be perceived

Drawing comes framed w/ free shipping in the U.S. Link in Bio ABOUT THE SNEAKER Arguably the most iconic sneaker of all time, the Air Jordan 1 changed the footwear industry. Back in 1984, a young Michael Jordan was looking to sign with a sneaker brand. MJ originally wanted to sign with Adidas but Nike’s commitment to creating a signature shoe as well as offering him a 25% royalty for every Air Jordan sold was enough for MJ to commit to Nike. Originally designed by Nike’s creative director Peter Moore, very little details were given by Jordan on how he would have liked his 1st sneaker. His only notes were that he wanted the sneaker to be lower cut than other on the market and that he wanted them to be exciting. Two of the main features of the sneaker that are showcased in the painting are the large Nike swoosh (the only Air Jordan to have the swoosh) and the Wings logo. The Wings logo, drawn on the back of a napkin by Moore, is a combination of a basketball with wings and the words “Air Jordan”. According to sneaker collector and former ProServ employee Kris Arnold, based on his conversations with Peter Moore, Nike’s original plan was for two primary Air Jordan colorways: a white/black/red colorway (now known as the “Black Toe”) for home games and black/red for road games (now commonly referred to as the “Bred”). Arnold says that, due to the threat of being fined, Nike adapted with an alternate colorway that met NBA regulations. This model is now referred to as the “Chicago” colorway. . #art #artist #artwork #realism #photorealism #contemporaryrealism #paint #painting #acrylic #nicekicks #Nike #aj1 #chicago #AirJordan #solecollector #kicksonfire #sneakerhead #sneakerheads #ComplexSneakerArt #sneakerfreaker #ArtOfTh (at TopShelf Kicks) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnMx-u1OnlA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
