shadow and bone rewatch s1e6 while drinking mid-range scotch
I wish I have a face that is as unlined and pretty as Ben Barnes' when I'm 39
Arken you dirty dirty liar
the face Alek is making at his lies that he knows are lies firstly because he knows the art of lying so well and also because he can read people very well
okay Ivan is kind of a bad bitch with his smirk at Arken's lies
alek's eyes narrowing and his little smile when Arken says 'im an entertainer' bitch I love this show
*grabs hand, pulls up sleeve, and discovers Arken's hand is full of marks indicating successful passages through the fold* 'well, that is certainly entertaining' I love this man with all my heart
him screaming is so fucking hot, is that weird for me to say
Nina being the Darkling's spy is quite interesting
Ben giving the Darkling crazy eyes when Arken owns up to his guilt is so cool
also wtf is Arken a fool trying to negotiate with possibly the strongest man in the world
kind of loved the darkness literally eating him
also love Alina learning to use her powers better when she is alone than when she is with anyone else, wish we got to see the cut in this season as per the books, ah can't have everything I guess
the camera pan to Jesper's gun at his side, amazing
god Jessie is literally so beautiful I need to see her bring Alina to the peak of her power so bad
netflix you better renew this series to let the plot run to its completion
HOW THE FUCK DID THEY CAST THE CROWS SO PERFECTLY
INEJ FUCKING TREMBLING JUST THE TINIEST BIT AS SHE BOWS SLIGHTLY TO ALINA SGSHSBSJJSJSSJ MY TWO QUEENS
'And where is my Summoner?' my little Darklina heart ouchie I really wish you hadn't used and manipulated her like this Alek it was incredibly fucked up especially considering you actually caught feelings
'Ivan and I won't fail you' oh Fedyor my baby, my angel, you don't deserve what is coming
Helnik literally recreating Titanic lmao stop this is a joke
I too would jump off the raft if I came to consciousness to see a gorgeous woman with magical powers with her hand on my back
omg but why is ryevost so pretty though
'I know exactly how she felt. The King's soldiers treated me the same way... I'm not myself today.' why must you do this to me, why must you fuel my darklina soulmates agenda idiocy
I don't quite think I have a problem with the Zoya Darkling relationship as much as I have a problem with the line they chose to reveal it to use with.
my drink's over and I don't know if I should have another, considering that it's 7 am
the tenderness with which he looks at Zoya and takes her hand and then when he says 'I shall relax when I have Alina' makes me believe more that the man that is reduced to tears time and again in front of Alina could in fact be the master manipulator I know him to be
god I can't wait for Zoya's character arc
'I speak six languages, it's part of my job' why is Nina literally the fucking coolest
Alina blinding the oprichniki was so hot, I can't wait to see more of her power and her ruthlessness
I know I've said it before but good god is Jessie Mei Li gorgeous
HER LITTLE SMILE AMONGST ALL THE PANIC AS SOON AS SHE SEES MAL, THE AUDACITY OF THIS SHOW TO MAKE ME FEEL THIS WAY
THE SCORE COMING IN AT THE RIGHT MOMENT, THEIR HANDS MEETING, HER SMILE AGAIN DHDHSBSNSNSNSNAN IM IN PAIN
REALLY?! YOU'RE GONNA GO DIRECTLY FROM MALINA TO HELNIK WITH NO CONCERN FOR MY HEART?
I simply cannot get over Calahan's accent lmao it's really funny
'im not afraid of you' he says to the insanely gorgeous girl with magic
HIM HANGING HIS HEAD IN DEFEAT TO INDICATE NINA HAS MADE VALID POINTS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I CAN'T BREATHE
'You're just a man. Like all the others.' she says and then forgets her train of thought looking at him as he strips. god I love this
not sleeping all night and then scotch is not a good idea, I think
'I promise not to ravish you' 'I hate the way you talk' her hand on his chest, his hand gripping hers, my fucking heart feels like it's about to explode
good god these shooting locations and sets are so beautiful
Alina throwing the flask at Mal and Mal going 'OI!' I fucking can't, I guess I am a
simp for childhood friends to lovers, give me more of that banter and childhood friend energy, I am thriving
wow it literally seems like they took book! Mal sl*tshaming book! Alina and made show! Alina sl*tshame show! Mal, hmm, interesting
'They would have split us up!' MAL'S LITTLE SMILE AT THIS, and the 'You wrote me letters?' Mal's nod, the Malina yearning stare, the Malina hug, 'thank you for finding me' 'always. I'll always find you.' NO MALINA YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE MADE ME ABSOLUTELY FUCKING FERAL
I understand they had to split time between my ravkan babies and the crows and that is why there were several aspects that were sort of not reflected on enough but Alina's training at the Little Palace, Alina's cut, Mal's personality, a teensy bit of backstory for the crows, maybe one lockpicking scene from my boy Kaz
random note: we have far too many idols and paintings and pictures and whatnot of Hindu deities in our house apart from the specially designed temple (we are Hindus, so maybe it's not that weird but it's a little weird)
Kaz's cane is a literal star, it's so beautiful my heart wants to explode
'Why would Heleen get the Crow Club?' *literally fucking gets up and walks aways instead of answering the fucking question* I LITERALLY CAN'T BREATHE I'M LOSING MY MIND
'I know that voice' WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO MAKE ME FIGHT FOR PLATONIC SHIPS IN FANDOMS
'We won't starve' omg get you someone who packs food for you when you go on the run together hiding from your ex who wants to capture you and use your powers as a weapon against your consent
Mal looking surprised at her summoning sunlight, Alina looking cautiously at him waiting for him to disapprove or run for the hills in fear or smth like that, 'I'm sorry it took me this long to see you... But I see you now' my dumb little shipper trash heart ouch
they really said we're gonna feed you this part asian couple as the protagonists in this show in 2021 and guess what I'm eating it's really tasty I'm very satisfied as a south asian
NINA'S LITTLE SMILE WHEN MATTHIAS WAKES UP WITH HIS ARM AROUND HER
'I can feel how much you hate sleeping next to me' 👀👀👀 BITCH SAID IMMA SPILL THE TEA AND THEN SHE DID
it's 8 am and guess what I'm getting another drink my parents have c*vid and are in govt qu*r*ntine centres there is nobody to supervise or stop me
I too say 'Why do you have to say things like that?' to my pretty crush when she flirts with me
Nina smiling at Matthias bragging about his conservative ways is my aesthetic
'No, it's not natural for someone to be as stupid as he is tall and yet, oh, there you stand.' MY FUCKING QUEEN
Matthias laughing uncontrollably at Nina saying something which isn't even that funny is a whole ass vibe
Kaz Brekker saying 'The Black General' ooh fuck yeah
YESSSS STEP OUT OF THAT CARRIAGE ALL SEXY BLACK GENERAL
isn't alcohol supposed to like kill germs? well, the amount in my system definitely will
I love my crows so much (always but this time particularly for setting that alarm in the stolen carriage)
ooh Polina recognising Inej by the knife yesss let's go writers
this Ivan Jesper showdown is all I needed from life and yet did not know about
Ivan taking off his cloak was, um, sexier than I wanted it to be
I just realised how thirsty I am going to sound in this post
'Has no one told you that keftas are Fabrikator-made and resistant to bullets, hmm?' 'Oh, I do love a challenge' LITERALLY EVERYTHING
im sorry to be pointing out flaws in a perfect show and adaptation but the line delivery on 'You robbed me of my brother, now I'll rob you of your life' from Polina was kind of weak
'You're a-' *gets knocked out with the back of a gun* LMAO we love the hints
got excited at the prospect of kaz v. zoya until I realised they will not be letting the opportunity of kaz v. darkling pass up
my goodness is Amita Suman a splendid actress
I AM NOT KIDDING WHEN I TELL YOU I SQUEALED WHEN I SAW DARKLES EMERGE OUT OF THE SHADOWS IN FRONT OF MY BABY BOY KAZ
THERE BEING ACTUAL FEAR OR ATLEAST DOUBT ON KAZ'S FACE, THE LITTLE BACK STEPS AS
THE DARKLING WALKS TOWARDS HIM, AAAAH I CAN'T
THE DARKLING STOPPING AT KAZ SAYING 'SHE FLED ON HER OWN' AND THE HINT OF TEARS THAT WE SEE IN HIS EYES
'IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR SHE WASN'T INTERESTED IN BEING A CAPTIVE ANYMORE' YOU TELL HIM, KING
*ACTUAL FUCKING TEARS IN THE DARKLING'S EYES AS THE SHADOWS APPROACH*
NOT ME YOWLING LIKE A HYENA THAT THIS CHILD OUTSMARTED THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN EXISTENCE WITH A FAKE MAGIC TRICK
'Are you sure you added enough cloves?' literally warranting a wide ass smile from my queen Alina making my entire fucking day
for some reason, no matter how much I push it from my mind, Ben Barnes dressed up as the Darkling, dancing to 'push it' keeps coming to mind, it's absolutely ridiculous
I got somehow distracted with interviews but good things came out of that as it gave my body the time for the booze to kick in
and I would just like to say that I love Leigh for all she has given me
Alina is so fucking compassionate, I have no much love for her. I can feel her guilt and her sorrow as Mal talks of Mikhail and Dubrov
don't particularly like how the stag plotline is woven in, could have been executed better
'You're afraid you might start to like me?' *flaps furs like a bird's wings in frustration*
'I DO like you' my fucking heart you idiots
the sexual tension is so palpable and the moment is so intimate I simply cannot
OMG SHE FUCKING FELL
that moment where you think he might let her fall despite having read the books and he doesn't and he tells her his name I- <3
YOU DARE TRANSITION FROM A HELNIK SCENE TO A KANEJ SCENE YOU REALLY HAVE NO MERCY FOR MY HEART HUH
people have talked about this endlessly but Freddie's little jaw tic after he says Inej because Inej is wounded and he can't physically bring himself to help her I fucking cannot
THE MUSIC PICKING UP AS KAZ LOOKS TO THE DARKLING'S CARRIAGE I CAN'T WITH THIS SHOW ANYMORE
and now for one of my favorite scenes in television and cinematic history, David Kostyk throwing a book at Jesper Fahey without even knowing who he is merely because he opens the door of his carriage and says hello to him before getting knocked out by Kaz Brekker while trying to run away
Immediately followed by another, the scene with David Kostyk raising his finger to put forward his point in front of the Darkling and the Darkling trying to let him know he doesn't have to before obliging is one of my favourite scenes in the world
also sir please stop being devastatingly attractive in your glorious appearance with your face and your black kefta and cloak because all that comes to mind is Ayesha Erotica's Emo Boy and I'm afraid that is terribly inappropriate.
'No, you look great.' *literally looks down from embarrassment or blushing* MALINA RIGHTS?
THE LOOK ON THE DARKLING'S FACE BEFORE HE SAYS 'NO ORDINARY TRACKER, NO ORDINARY GIRL' BITCH IM OUT OF BREATH
'ORPHANS OF KERAMZIN, REUNITED.' 'ADORABLE.' HE FUCKING SNEERED IRL I FUCKING CANNOT
GOD IT'S SO GOOD

Do Shadow and Bone & Six of Crows Work as One Story?
https://ift.tt/3dL3rrm
This SHADOW AND BONE feature contains spoilers for Season 1.
Though Netflix’s new fantasy series Shadow and Bone is based on the bestselling Grishaverse novels of author Leigh Bardugo, it’s not a straightforward adaptation of the book series that shares its name. In addition to the Shadow and Bone trilogy, the series also incorporates elements from Six of Crows, a duology that is set in the same world, but focused on a very different set of characters.
Set two years after the events of Shadow and Bone, Six of Crows is a dramatic heist story set in a different country (Kerch)  and starring a set of characters who really don’t take part in the events of the first trilogy. Until now. Shadow and Bone attempts to create what are essentially prequel storylines for the major characters of Six of Crows: criminal mastermind Kaz Brekker, assassin Inej Ghafa, gunslinger Jesper Fahey, and spy Nina Zenik.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
How these figures would fit into the series’ existing storyline of the discovery of a legendary  Sun Summoner with the power to destroy the Shadow Fold was a question that every book fan was wondering prior to the series debut. And now that Shadow and Bone is here, it’s time to dig into whether this fusion of these two separate-but-related series worked or not.
Den of Geek editor Kayti Burt and Den of Geek contributor Lacy Baugher dig into the specifics of the good, the bad, and the somewhere in between when it comes to incorporating the Six of Crows characters into Shadow and Bone. Welcome to our discussion, and feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments below…
Question: Going into this series, what did you think about Netflix’s choice to integrate Six of Crows into Shadow and Bone? Did you think it would work?
Kayti: As someone who has only read the first book in the Shadow and Bone series and neither of the Six of Crows duology, I was intrigued.
As a viewer of adaptation, I tend to hold my opinions until I’ve at least seen the trailer and… well, the first teaser (which is the only trailer I watched before binging the screeners) didn’t give much away. That being said, there’s nothing that frustrates me more than an adaptation that is overly faithful to the plot without being faithful to the tone, characters, and themes of the source material, so I think I am much more tolerant of major plot changes when it comes to adaptation than the average viewer?
Lacy: I will admit that I was extremely apprehensive about it. I mean, I get the impetus to combine both sets of characters into a single story if only to allow Six of Crows fans the chance to see favorites like Kaz and Jesper onscreen. (There are no guarantees that Shadow and Bone would be successful enough to even get a second season, let alone a sequel/spin-off about a completely different cast, after all.)
But the thing is, Six of Crows is a very different story from Shadow and Bone – from setting and characters, to the time it takes place. (It’s actually set two full years after the events in the final Shadow and Bone novel, Ruin and Rising.) Furthermore, it’s also a very different kind of story. Six of Crows is very much a heist drama and one that’s not concerned so much with things like love triangles or larger Ravkan politics. And the characters are, of necessity, much darker and more morally gray than Alina and her friends. I worried that the two worlds of these stories wouldn’t mesh well, or that there simply wouldn’t be anything for the Six of Crows crew to do.
Kayti: Yeah, these are such valid concerns! Even as someone who had never read Six of Crows, I knew that these series, while set in the same world, were doing very different things.
Reading your response, Lacy, I also think I saw it as a way to incorporate the more popular Six of Crows material into the slightly less popular Shadow and Bone, which did make me a bit nervous, as it seemed to be a marketing decision more than a story one. That being said, with good storytellers, those two motivations do not have to be mutually exclusive!
Question: Now that you’ve seen the show, what do you think works with the strategy?
Lacy: Shadow and Bone does, I think, pull off the inclusion of the Six of Crows crew fairly well. Much better than I expected it to if I’m honest.
There are certainly problems – for the first four episodes, it generally feels like the Crows cast exists in an entirely different show that has very little to do with the stuff happening in Os Alta. Shadow and Bone is also generally terrible as a series at drawing any sort of distinctions about what makes life in Kerch different from that in Ravka and how that might have shaped these people.
But the character work is honestly great, and the addition of this Six of Crows prequel plot adds some really interesting layers to Inej and Jesper especially. The show is really clear that the latter obviously has Grisha power in a way that the books are not, and Kit Young steals almost every scene he’s in. (Milo the goat! I cannot! Protect him!)
I also love the way that the show fleshes out Inej, both in terms of her past and how the overhanging threat of returning to the Menagerie impacts her choices, as well as the way her religious beliefs shape who she is. (There’s something honestly wonderful about the fact that she gets to meet and know Alina, who is – and will become even more fully – revered as a saint by her faith, and I just love that for her.)
Kayti: I agree! For the first half of the season, I wasn’t sure if it worked, and I do think that has something to do with the weakness of setting in this adaptation. For parallel storylines to work well, they need to have a strong sense of world-building. In that way, even if there aren’t explicit plot or character connections between the two (or more!) storylines, then each storyline still adds something to the other(s) by virtue of telling us something about the larger world they share. Game of Thrones did this famously well, as does The Expanse. In Shadow and Bone, the articulation of setting is one of the adaptation’s weakest elements—the world and its cultures don’t truly feel real or lived in to me—and I think that hurts the integration of these two book series.
That being said, once the characters and plot collide in the second half of the season, this integration works incredibly well for me. I loved the final episode for so many reasons, but one of the big ones was for how integral the Six of Crows characters (or at least Jesper, Inej, and Kaz) felt to this climax—I mean, Inej throws a dagger into The Darkling! By the end of this season, it didn’t matter to me that the world-building didn’t quite work because I was so invested in these characters. (And I loved the Inej/Alina stuff, as well.)
And then, of course, we have Nina and Matthias off on their own, little subplot, giving me the Jon Snow/Ygritte vibes. Again, this subplot picked up steam for me. At the beginning, I didn’t know why we should care, but these actors really brought their “A” game when it came to their Enemies to Friends to (Almost) Lovers journey, complete with There Is Only One Bed and Huddling For Warmth. I never stood a chance.
Lacy: There is Only One Bed!!! Truly, the best romantic trope there is. Heart eyes emoji.
You’re really right about Shadow and Bone and how it articulates setting. On some level, the fact that the Shadow Fold is the most fully realized location in the show makes a lot of sense – it’s huge, monstrous, and terrifying. But this focus has the downside of making almost everywhere else look and seem exactly the same. (I really would like to know how many viewers didn’t/haven’t yet realized that Kerch is an entirely separate country with different laws about Grisha.)
The utter destruction of the West Ravkan city of Novokribirsk at the end of the season is supposed to be really shocking and underline how depraved the Darkling is, but I don’t think it hits as hard as it should – part of the reason is that the show has plenty of other opportunities to show us the Darkling’s flaws, but it’s also because there’s no real attempt to give West Ravka any real sense of place or identity.

Shadow & Bone: Ranking the Ships
By Kayti Burt and 1 other
Question: What do you think doesn’t work?
Kayti: I think that some of the supporting characters from Shadow and Bone get lost in the shuffle here, as does the Ravka world-building, and I think that is partially because we spend so much time with the Six of Crows gang. There’s nothing to say that, even if Six of Crows hadn’t been incorporated into this adaptation, we would have had more Os Alta or that more would have been better. In both the source material and the adaptation, the Os Alta stuff feels perfunctory rather than inspired. I would have loved to see the adaptation breathe new life into it, similar to what they did with Mal in the translation, who is a much fuller character in the Netflix series than he is in the book.
Lacy: Kaz Brekker, unfortunately. I mean, I think part of this is because there are aspects of who Kaz is and what he’s been through that you just can’t find out right now because of the story that’s still to come in Six of Crows and how that all plays into things there.
This is probably the right decision, but it has the really annoying side effect of making Kaz the least interesting character in Shadow and Bone for me. And if you’ve read the books, you know that’s the furthest thing from the truth. But here, Kaz is basically just a dude with a cool walking stick who’s kind of super into Inej for some reason and hates a man named Pekka Rollins. There’s almost no sense of who he is on his own terms or why he behaves the way he does.
Kayti: As someone who has yet to read Six of Crows, the degree of mystery around Kaz’s character worked for me. The character performance was strong enough that, even though I wanted answers about his backstory now, it felt more in a “I am getting what I need, not what I want” sort of viewing experience—though I get how this could be different if you already know and love his character.
As a non-book reader, I love the tension of not knowing what the heck is up with Kaz because it seems so in line with who he is as a character—jaded, angry, and prone to pushing people away. Of course, if he didn’t have enough sense to be friends (or whatever) with Inej and Jesper, I probably wouldn’t have as much time for his bullshit. The fact that these two seem to vouch for him as a person worth standing by goes a long way for me, and makes his character all the more intriguing.
Question: Do you foresee any problems with this strategy moving forward?
Lacy: Where do they go from here? The end of Shadow and Bone Season 1 sort of puts all the pieces in place for what feels like it’s about to become the first novel in the Six of Crows series. The Crows gang is on a boat heading back to Ketterdam, Nina is on the same ship with them, clearly about to join their crew with her own Matthias-related agenda. Alina and Mal are heading off on their own journey, which will take them on a completely different path. (Both figuratively and literally speaking.)
Is Shadow and Bone just going to move up the timeline of Six of Crows and put the rest of that story as a sort of B plot to the elements of Siege and Storm that will inevitably drive any Season 2? Season 1 successfully managed to use these characters by basically inventing a backstory for them that wasn’t present anywhere else. (Though it should be noted that Nina’s does come from the books.) I’m not sure that I think they can successfully do that again. But if they do adapt Six of Crows, how does that story fit here – especially if it means they can’t easily cross back into the main narrative?
I’m nervous, is what I’m saying. But the show has pleasantly surprised me thus far, so I live in hope.
Kayti: As someone who hasn’t read the books, I am blissfully ignorant, though, as our two main groups of characters are heading in different directions (both figuratively and literally, as you say, Lacy), I’m not sure what Season 2 is going to look like. Are these characters going to be in completely different stories? Because that doesn’t sound like the best idea. Or is the world-changing stakes of The Darkling and his pet shadows big enough that it will pull all of our main characters in?
Whatever happens in terms of the Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows division, I am very excited to see Nina and Matthias fully engage with Inej, Jesper, and Kaz. Maybe they will spend Season 2 together, with the events of the Six of Crows plot, and come back together somehow with Alina & co. for Season 3?
Lacy: You know, I actually don’t mind that idea at all – sort of letting everyone be free to do their own specific series-mandated things next season and then come back together again in Season 3. Because I think what bugs me is the idea that we might have been sort of gifted this really nifty blending of the book narratives and then have it taken away with nary a mention again. (I also just really want Nina to meet Alina, sue me.)
The more I think about it, the more I don’t necessarily see why we couldn’t have some of the Six of Crows plot here – yes, technically it takes place later on, chronologically speaking, but the show itself has already moved up the timeline of Matthias’ impending imprisonment in Hellgate, which is a big initial mission the Crows crew has to sort of undertake. I don’t think he deserves to stay in prison for what is essentially two more books before they get him out. Maybe that’s a place Season 2 can easily start.

Shadow and Bone Review: Netflix Adaptation Brings the Magic
By Lacy Baugher
Question: Final thoughts.
Kayti: I can’t get over how well this integration worked for me in the second half of the season. This isn’t Stan Lee popping up as a random member of the First Army; Inej, Kaz, and Jesper are the ones to drive Alina out of the palace, and they get to be a small part of that final fight with The Darkling (while not taking away from Alina’s agency and power in that climax). Then, we get a family campfire at the end of the season that straight-up feels like fanfiction (which coming from me is not a dismissal, but rather the ultimate compliment).
Lacy: I can’t wait to really see Nina incorporated with the rest of the Six of Crows cast. She spends most of this season off in her own storyline, which is necessary and gives us a lot of great moments (Nina + Matthias 4-ever), but I am very much looking forward to seeing her friendship with Inej develop.
Also, if we’re going to keep the Six of Crows crew around for any sort of Season 2, which I think they’ll want to do to some extent, I really hope we spend some serious time in Ketterdam, exploring what Kerch is like and how it’s different from Ravka and Fjerda. The Ketterdam set looks amazing and we should get some use out of it.
Kayti: Yes to more Kerch! I am hoping that what we saw in Season 1 was just the tip of the iceberg for what they have planned in terms of the culture and world and that Ketterdam feels more lived-in in Season 2. Overall, the season finale definitely left me eager for more. More than after watching the first episode, after watching the eighth episode, I felt like this story was just getting started.
Looking back on this first season, I think one of the reasons why this show works so well is because it isn’t just a “Chosen One” narrative, and I think that is because it incorporates the Six of Crows’ heist-driven structure. The heist is, by its nature, an ensemble story, while the YA “Chosen One” structure is usually a first-person narrative, which doesn’t always translate so well to the screen. In addition to its amazing characters, this multiple POV, non-Chosen One sensibility is the most important thing Six of Crows brings to Shadow and Bone, and I don’t know if the adaptation would work half as well without it.

shingeki no bahamut: virgin soul ep1-4 impression
Tumblr media
All in all, the four eps are pretty solid in establishing the setup of the story imo. Also, this post is centered around azazel.
About Jeanne
The most surprising thing is the fact that Jeanne had a kid. Like, in the prologue, she didn’t show any sign whatsoever???
But right after Charioce mentioned her kid, Jeanne called Michael’s name.
Charioce wanted the kid killed, and the heaven side wanted the kid found in order to save them. The kid, Mugaro, obviously belongs on the God’s side of power spectrum, not from demon’s side like Azazel thought.
So probably there’s no mistaking Mugaro had something to do with Michael the Archangel. The question left is if Mugaro was Michael’s kid, or the incarnation of Michael himself.
Considering the odd eye, I’m more inclined to believe the latter. Michael was the only being shown who had different eyes colors after all.
Tumblr media
Also, Jeanne might not even carry Mugaro in a pregnancy. Like, Michael could just appear in a baby form in a flash of blinding light or something and Jeanne was thought of as the mother bcs she was simply with baby Mugaro.
Also I guess it’s time I said goodbye to the hope that Mugaro might secretly be Lucifer like I said before orz
About Nina & Azazel
I’ve remarked a little bit about them here.
It’s… probably would be useful to count how many times they have hugged, and  I’m counting 3x so far: Ep1, when he caught her after thinking she was Mugaro and still didn’t drop her even after realizing she was not Mugaro. Ep4, when they rolled down the street together; that was practically a hug. Ep4, when she asked him to hug her (this particular hug won all the awards in my book)
Tumblr media
Also, Azazel already saw her naked 2x: Ep1, presumably after she went back to human form and he carried her to Rita’s place. Ep4, when Rita picked unconscious Nina up.
Fast development is fast: Ep1, she ran in order to catch him, the Rag Demon, for the bounty. Ep3, she ran in order to save him, the Rag Demon, from being killed.
How many pieces of the same clothes do you think Nina have? Considering every time she turned into a dragon she ripped her clothes to shreds.
Also I thought Azazel’s clothes was part of his demon package, like something he would automatically wear whenever he turned into a demon – much like the way Amira had her demon clothes and hair style every time she transformed only to turn back to her human clothes and hair style when she was done.
But apparently Azazel’s clothes were just… clothes… since he could take them off at will like that.
Also idky but I always had the impression his clothes were a one piece, so finding out he wore proper pants and proper upper garment was just. disappointing? I mean, it’s not like demons and angels even need to go to the bathroom right??? So they could probably wear complicated clothes designs that had no such purpose in mind and maybe just leave some room for the wings??? No I mean srsly what a wasted opportunity???? /is shot
Nina and Azazel did not arm wrestle, but I’m pretty sure even if they did, Nina would win hand down. Also, he would give less of a challenge than the glasses turban man. Also, notice how easily she pulled him in the gif below, like, he toally had no chance against her lmao
Tumblr media
Looking at the way he fought, Azazel was not a power fighter; he was more of a speed user, and those wings gave him more range since it meant he could attack from literally any angle.
Azazel & Rita & Kaisar
Kaisar didn’t change at all, in that he didn’t sell out Azazel even though he knew he was the Rag Demon, the way he also didn’t sell out Favaro when he found out Favaro had a demon tail back in s01e02.
Why did he choose to give Azazel the benefit of the doubt tho? I mean, Favaro was his childhood friend, so it was understandable for him to not rat out Favaro. But Azazel didn’t even have such sweet history with him – on the contrary, in fact.
Azazel and Kaisar did have their momentary (?) truce thing in s01e11, but was it enough to make Kaisar trust him that far?
Tumblr media
During this scene, rita would know a calm azazel is a dangerous azazel probably.
Bcs he thought with his logic instead of with his emotion.
His resignation tone is also very alarming bcs he was a sore loser who would hardly accept any defeats, and she had been with him for two years; she recognized him accepting defeat was not him. She froze bcs of it, but she didn't say anything bcs she was not sure of where he was going to take this probably.
Him leaving Mugaro in her care probably clinched it for her: he was not alright or maybe, he was starting to go down the demon part, the bad part, where he used ppl up and disposed of them, again.
Anyway, Rita *cared* about him. Like in that scene where she was berating him and threatening to not attend his wounds if he hurt Nina, she instantly reacted and worriedly admonishing him for getting up despite his wounds.
just what happened in those 2-10 years to make Rita cared that much about Azazel?
Tumblr media
Rita, Bacchus and Hamsa all knew Azazel was the Rag Demon, and none bothered to tell on him; Rita even appointed herself his doctor (sort of), while Bacchus and Hamsa, while happily printing his wanted posters, seemed to discourage ppl to actually *try* to capture him – if the way Hamsa tried to stop Nina in ep1 was anything to go by.
Kaisar himself seemed to at least have suspicions, but never confirmed it until Azazel spoke to him as Rag Demon and Kaisar recognized his voice.
Similarly, Charioce also seemed to have suspicions on the identity of Rag Demon, but never have it confirmed until he saw his naked face.
Tumblr media
He just said ‘it’s you’, not by name, so he was probably only familiar with Azazel’s face from his undertaker job at the arena, and not necessarily bcs he knew Azazel’s identity as former high-ranking demon.
(srsly where’s the rest of high ranking demons anyway)
Kaisar recognizing some soldiers didn’t actually like the current king all that much in ep1.
In S1, the king’s name is Charioce XIII, so how did in just 10 years XIII became XVII??? Did the current Charioce kill them all after they had been appointed a king, and therefore the title number continued on??? That seemed… excessive… like wouldn’t it better to just kill them all before they got the King title???
Alessand just how much did you like Kaisar anyway? Your fanboying was kinda showing.
Also anyone notice how Dias’ ears were a bit pointed? Was he possibly of the demon kind perhaps? Or maybe that was just random character design.
Azazel and Mugaro
Current speculation about Mugaro: Michael’s offspring and/or Michael himself, mothered by Jeanne D’Arc
Azazel picking up Jeanne’s kid is reaaaaally interesting, and not only bcs picking up a kid at all is already surprising for him.
Tumblr media
As of S1, things Jeanne did to Azazel: 1. destroyed his gregor castle 2. killed his subordinates 3. shot him and wounded him heavily, helped by Michael’s blessing 4. cut his bigger horns too while she was at it (5. cut his two smaller wings too maybe? I’m not sure but by the time he appeared injured in ep8 his wings were only two, and his smaller wings were never seen again.)
I’m looking forward to the moment Azazel finally met Jeanne again.
I’m even more looking forward to the moment Azazel found out Mugaro was actually Jeanne’s kid.
Bacchus and Hamsa knew Mugaro had different eyes color, and thanks to Sofiel searching for Mugaro, they probably suspected Mugaro had some heaven power or something.
So technically Azazel was the only one who didn’t know that both Heaven and Charioce were searching for Mugaro, and also the only one not suspecting even in the slightest the extent of Mugaro’s powers.
Mugaro himself (herself?) didn’t even seem inclined to show this powers to Azazel and letting Azazel think he had to protect Mugaro, even though ep2 was probably not even the first time Mugaro saved Azazel.
Tumblr media
Mugaro’s powers so far: 1. sending off prayers??? Life force absorbing??? Whatever he did to those dying demons to make them disappear in a rain of sparkles. (ep1 - 2) 2. magic force/seal breaking (ep2) 3. making things float (ep2) [Michael showed the same ability in s1] 4. premonition??? (ep4)(this is just a speculation bcs how else would Mugaro knew where to wait in order to catch Azazel?)
IF Mugaro was really Michael and Jeanne’s kid instead of Michael’s incarnation, I really hope she/he would keep staying on Azazel’s side, bcs it would be really interesting to see a kid from a successful angel/human relationship ending up with an angel that became a fallen bcs he loved a daughter of man.
Also orz Belphegor was actually stronger than Azazel in the game, but here she was lower ranked.
Not counting Mugaro, Azazel had a flag with Nina, and possibly Bel as well, since once again he would end up saving a cornered Bel later according to the 3rd pv….
Tumblr media
But back to Mugaro, do you think Azazel took that Undertaker job bcs he needed it to stay legitimate in town, or did he do it to spy on Charioce?
He was a demon, his horns were showing through his hat, yet he still didn’t wear the necklace controller thing.
Also, if he had Mugaro with him, didn’t that mean he had to provide a proper house with proper room and bed, proper clothes, proper *human* food, proper… everything?
I MEAN.
Considering Rita and Bacchus’s chosen garment wear, probably Azazel was also the one who chose the clothes for Mugaro, meaning his taste ran more for the upper class side.
Mugaro also had those candies that he shared with the demon kids in ep2, meaning Azazel probably bought them for him, or at the very least gave him the money to buy them.
When he talked to Mugaro, Azazel also tended to use gentler voice. He shouted at Nina a few times, but he never raised his voice when talking to Mugaro.
He also probably often patted Mugaro’s head.
Tumblr media
Considering Mugaro was mute and couldn’t tell him his/her name, Azazel was probably the one who *named* him/her Mugaro
He so obviously *cared* so much for Mugaro I’m in pain???? Help???
He went to the capital city, fully aware and fully prepared to lose his life, for the sake of what? Saving several demons, alone? Atone for sins we don’t know about??? What??? Why alone???
I’ve commented before how Azazel might as well be the season’s protag since things are kinda centered around him as of now.
But thinking about it now, he looks more like a damsel in distress bcs he keeps getting saved one way or another, and he always seems to be in distress way too often.
Um.

Hisame/Nina C-S and Hisame/Shiro C-S
C
Nina: Hey Hisame!
Hisame: Oh, hello Nina.
Nina: What’s that you’re reading?
Hisame: This? It’s just a novel I picked up at the last town we visited.
Nina: Ooh, what genre? Adventure? Romance?
Hisame: Mystery. It’s about a young man and his best friend trying to solve the case of a mysterious murder. The two of them are always escaping near-death situations and finding themselves wrapped up in political intrigue.
Nina: That sounds… interesting!
Hisame: Yes, well, the whole plot is a little contrived, but I suppose that’s what it takes to make a bestselling novel nowadays.
Nina: It’s about a young man and his best friend, you said?
Hisame: Yes. If anything, the friendship between the two of them is the story’s strong suit. The characters have been friends since childhood, and they’re close at each other’s side every step of the way.
Nina: Oooh.
Hisame: Are you okay, Nina? That was an awfully weird sound you just made.
Nina: Haha, no, it was nothing. Catch you later, Hisame!
Hisame: (Well, that was strange…)
B
Hisame: All of that training today was exhausting. Time to retire to my room and curl up with a good book… Gah! Nina, what are you doing in my room!
Nina: Hisame?! H-hey, I didn’t see you there! How’s it going?
Hisame: All of my drawers are wide open! My clothes are all over the floor! What’s the meaning of this?!
Nina: Um, about that… haha…
Hisame: Were you trying to look through my room for something?
Nina: I mean… yes. I wanted to find that book your were talking about earlier. The mystery novel about the two detectives and their long-unspoken feelings for each other…
Hisame: What?
Nina: Sorry, the mystery novel about the two detectives.
Hisame: And you decided it was a good idea to sneak into my room and root through all of my belongings to look for it?
Nina: Yes?
Hisame: Well, for what it’s worth, the book was right under my pillow.
Nina: Drat! That’s so obvious, why didn’t I look there first? Thanks, Hisame. I’ll be sure to give it back once I’m done.
Hisame: No way. I’m not giving you this book after you invaded my privacy like that! If you wanted to read it, you should have just asked. You can start reading the book once I’m done with it.
Nina: Hisame!
Hisame: Please, Nina. Get out of my room.
Nina: Hrrrm….
A
Hisame: Let’s see. Father says he left his sandals somewhere in a closet. It must be this one.
Nina: —!!!
Hisame: Nina?! What are you doing hiding in this closet?
Nina: Uhhh…
Hisame: And is that my book in your hands? Nina, did you steal my book and hide in this closet to read it?!
Nina: Guilty as charged…
Hisame: I told you that you could read the book once I was finished with it. And you still decided to go back into my room and steal it?
Nina: I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it! The synopsis you told me about those two young men, detectives by profession, but bound by something stronger than friendship… I couldn’t resist! I started to imagine potential scenarios: the two of them, lit by nothing more than candlelight, studying a crime scene… one of them looks into the other’s eyes and sees himself reflected there… they lean in and—
Hisame: Nina! What are you talking about?
Nina: I’m sorry, Hisame! But I’ve been reading this book and I have to know: when does the young detective’s male friend come in? So far all he has is this annoying female sidekick.
Hisame: Nina. That “annoying female sidekick” is the friend I was talking about. She’s the young  detective’s best friend.
Nina: Wha—? But I thought—
Hisame: You thought the best friend was another boy? Please.
Nina: You mean I snuck into your room and stole this book for nothing?
Hisame: Hah! When you put it that way, it’s actually quite amusing.
Nina: Hisame, this isn’t funny!
Hisame: You know, I do have another book about two male bandits who fight alongside each other. And if I recall correctly, there is a sauna scene…
Nina: Really?!
Hisame: I can lend it to you—
Nina: Oh, thank you Hisame!
Hisame: —if you clean up the mess you made in my room earlier.
Nina: Fine.
Hisame: And once you’re done, we can discuss it together. I’d love to see your take on the ending.
Nina: Sure! Thanks, Hisame!
Hisame: No problem. Just stay out of my room from now on.
Nina: Can do!
S
Nina: So I finished reading the book you gave me about the male bandits…
Hisame: Oh, right! How did you like it?
Nina: I loved it! But I thought the ending was so tragic; how they had to leave their separate ways, never to see each other again…
Hisame: I agree, that was heartbreaking. There was definitely something more than friendship there between the two of them.
Nina: You really think so? I knew I wasn’t the only one!
Hisame: Of course. That’s how I knew you’d like the book.
Nina: Oh, Hisame. Thank you so much for lending it to me.
Hisame: Not a problem.
Nina: Actually, I hear the next town over is doing a play adaptation of the book! I’d love for you to come watch it with me. I was thinking we could… uh… go get lunch before the show. There’s a great little pastry place right by the theater! Oh gods, I’m screwing this up so terribly…
Hisame: Nina, are you asking me out on a date?
Nina: What?! No! Yes? Maybe?
Hisame: I’m sorry, but nobody’s ever asked me out on a date before. I’m not used to… romantic situations.
Nina: Me neither! I’ve always been more comfortable spying on boys than going out with them!
Hisame: This is all so new to me… but now that I think about it, maybe that’s a good thing. We’ve already got one thing in common: a crippling awkwardness around the opposite sex.
Nina: Heh heh, what a nice way to put it!
Hisame: In that case, I accept your request for a date, Nina. I’d… erm… sorry, this is still so new for me… I’d love to go watch the show with you.
Nina: Perfect! Oh gods, I’m blushing too much right now.
Hisame: In that case, I’ll be sure to pack some pickles when we go out together. They’re great at calming one’s nerves.
Nina: Thanks, Hisame.
Hisame: Not a problem, Nina. I can’t wait to spend more time with you.
——————————————————————————————-
C
Hisame: *Hggh*… *Huff* … Drat. no use. Maybe if I push from this side? Hm…
Hisame: Wait-? What was that noise? It sounded like something rustling in the underbrush…
Shiro: Hey Hisame!
Hisame: Lord Shiro! Gods, you nearly scared me out of my wits! I thought you were a Faceless!
Shiro: Ah, I’m sorry about that. I didn’t mean to alarm you. I was just getting ready for my morning workout when I saw you heading into the woods with that big old sack over your shoulder. I wondered why you were up so early, so I tried to catch up with you. Got a little lost though.
Hisame: I see. No need to worry, your highness.
Shiro: So, what brings you to these woods at the crack of dawn?
Hisame: Well, you’ll recall that last evening I served up a large dish of pickles for the whole camp to commemorate our latest victory.
Shiro: Right! They were delicious.
Hisame: Thank you! Unfortunately, that celebratory dish cleaned me out of the last of my pickle supply. So here I am, in pursuit of a pickle patch, if you will.
Shiro: Any luck?
Hisame: It looks like there’s a perfect patch right in this ravine. I was able to collect some of them, but the rest are trapped underneath this fallen oak tree.
Shiro: Sounds like you’re in quite a pickle!
Hisame: Very original of you, Lord Shiro.
Shiro: Haha, sorry, you must hear that a lot. Let’s see. Have you tried rolling the fallen tree up and out of the ravine?
Hisame: Yes, but it won’t even budge. It’s much too heavy for anyone to move. I’ll have to come up with some other idea-
Shiro: Hold on a sec. *Hhhgggh*… haaah!
Hisame: …You rolled the oak tree up the side of the ravine like it was nothing! And then tossed it aside!
Shiro: Hey, I don’t do all those morning workouts for nothing!
Hisame: I… I see. Well, at any rate, thank you for clearing the ravine. You’re welcome to help me boil some of these pickles tomorrow if you’d like.
Shiro: Sounds like a blast. See you there!
Hisame: …
B
Shiro: Hisame? Hello. I’m here to boil some pickles, like you said!
Hisame: Oh, hello Lord Shiro.
Shiro: If there’s any chopping involved, I may have to sit that part out. I just got back from an impromptu arm-wrestling match.
Hisame: Again? Was my father there, like last time?
Shiro: Yeah. Your dad actually put up a good opposition! Reminded me of the time he and I sparred together.
Hisame: I see. Please hand me that pickle.
Shiro: Is something wrong? You’ve been looking kind of down since I last saw you back in the woods.
Hisame: It’s nothing. Come, I’ll show you how to salt the pickle.
Shiro: No, I’m serious. What is it?
Hisame: It’s nothing.
Shiro: I’m not handing you this pickle until you tell me what’s up.
Hisame: (Sigh)… It’s nothing, really. My father and I are polar opposites, and I’ve always been content to keep it that way. I simply figured that once I left the Deeprealms I would be spending more time with him.
Shiro: Hm.
Hisame: I’ve never been good at the physical activities he enjoys. While the other kids played on the playground, I was studying. I was terrible at “catch” when we would play in my youth. My sparring style is nowhere near as vigorous as his. We arm-wrestled once, and it lasted all of 2 seconds.
Shiro: So? None of that matters.
Hisame: But Father doesn’t have that problem with you at all. He spars with you, he arm-wrestles with you… and the way you lifted that tree yesterday, it seems you’re naturally inclined towards feats of athleticism. You have much more in common with Father than I do.
Shiro: For what it’s worth, I always beat Hinata when we arm wrestle. He’s got definition, sure, but he’s missing bulk.
Hisame: That’s not the point! …Never mind. Keep the pickle. I’ll postpone this activity for another day.
Shiro: Hisame, wait! Gah…
A
Shiro: Hisame, I’m glad I found you.
Hisame: Hello, Shiro. I’m sorry for spilling all of my problems during our pickle-prep session. You shouldn’t have had to hear that.
Shiro: No, I’m glad you told me. Because I feel the same way sometimes.
Hisame: What? What are you talking about?
Shiro: Dad and I have so little in common. He’s over here ruling a kingdom, while I’m barely organized enough to figure out what to do with my own time. He’s always so regal, stately, and logical, while I always just barge headfirst into whatever plan of action pops into my head. You might feel like Hinata would prefer having me as a son, but I know for a fact that Ryoma would prefer having you as a son.
Hisame: Shiro! Don’t say that! You know Ryoma is proud to be your father.
Shiro: Not as proud as Hinata is to be yours. He saved you from the Faceless that were attacking your Deeprealm!
Hisame: And Ryoma saved you from those highwaymen who ambushed you once you left your Deeprealm!
Shiro: I’ve heard Hinata say he wishes he could be as culinarily gifted as you.
Hisame: And I’ve heard Ryoma say he admires the way you stay positive in the face of adversity.
Shiro: …
Hisame: …
Shiro: I suppose both of our fathers do love us.
Hisame: …Perhaps sons don’t necessarily need to be carbon copies of their parents to be worthy of their affections.
Shiro: And hey, if you ever want to work out with me you’re always welcome. With enough training, you could enter the next camp arm-wrestling tournament!
Hisame: Ha! That’s an amusing thought. Thanks for the offer. If you’d ever like to prepare pickles with me again, you’re always welcome as well.
Shiro: How about right now?
Hisame: That’s right, we never did finish up earlier, did we?
Shiro: Nope. But it’s not too late! Race you to the kitchen, Hisame!
Hisame: Wait up, you got a headstart!
S
Hisame: Can I take this blindfold off yet, Shiro? Where are you taking me?
Shiro: I promise, we’re almost there!
Hisame: Okay. You know I love spending time with you, but my legs are already so sore from that morning jog we went on earlier today-
Shiro: That’s good! The soreness means you’re getting stronger.
Hisame: I still have no idea how you get up and do those exercises every day.
Shiro: You can take off the blindfold now!
Hisame: Oh, Shiro! We’re in the woods. There’s the old ravine and the pickle patch. And what is that? A picnic blanket?
Shiro: Yep. Go check out the jars on the blanket.
Hisame: …they’re filled with pickles! Shiro, did you prepare these yourself?
Shiro: You bet. After we made that one batch together, I practiced the recipe so I could surprise you. It seemed only fair, since you’ve been doing morning workouts with me.
Hisame: Shiro, this is amazing.
Shiro: And listen to that!
Hisame: What?
Shiro: You called me Shiro. Not “Lord Shiro,” like you used to. Why is that?
Hisame: W-well, I mean-
Shiro: Because you see us as equals now. I see us that way, too. I’ve always seen us that way. That’s why I was wondering…
Hisame: Wondering what?
Shiro: I was wondering if you’d be my boyfriend.
Hisame: Your boyfriend!
Shiro: I love how I can connect with you better than anyone else. What I shared with you about my dad, I’ve only ever shared with a few other people before. I feel safe with you, Hisame.
Hisame: Shiro… I could say the same for you. The reason I opened up to you about my self-doubt was because I knew I could trust you. Shiro, I would love to be your boyfriend.
Shiro: Really?
Hisame: Absolutely.
Shiro: Woohoo! Let’s have a pickle to celebrate. Here, what do you think?
Hisame: Let me take a bite… yikes! It’s a little sour… but don’t worry! We can work on that later. Together.

Jeffrey Tambor's Transparent Announcement and More Shocking TV Exits
New Post has been published on http://gossip.network/jeffrey-tambors-transparent-announcement-and-more-shocking-tv-exits/
Jeffrey Tambor's Transparent Announcement and More Shocking TV Exits
Transparent without the trans parent? Looks like it might happen. Jeffrey Tambor, who has come under fire with allegations of sexual harassment on set of the Amazon series, announced he does not see a way he can remain on the series.
“Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life. What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago,” Tambor said in a statement on Sunday, Nov. 19. “I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.”
Amazon had no comment, and no announcement about whether or not season five will go on as planned as been made. Trace Lysette accused Tambor of acting inappropriate on set.
“Jeffrey has made many sexual advances and comments at me, but one time it got physical,” Lysette alleged in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “My back was against the wall in a corner as Jeffrey approached me. He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrusts back and forth against my body. I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pajamas and I pushed him off of me. Again, I laughed it off and rolled my eyes. I had a job to do and I had to do it with Jeffrey, the lead of our show.”
A former assistant also leveled claims against the actor, which he denied.
If this is indeed the end of Tambor on Transparent, it’s just the latest shocking exit in TV history. Take a look back at some other surprising exits from hit shows now.
CBS
Grace Park, Hawaii Five-0
Grace Park, who shot to fame on Battlestar Galactica, left Hawaii Five-0 ahead of its eighth season. Reports indicate she and costar Daniel Dae Kim were trying to renegotiate a higher salary to match their costars.
CBS
Daniel Dae Kim, Hawaii Five-0
Daniel Dae Kim and his costar Grace Park left the CBS drama in between seasons seven and eight. In a Facebook post, Kim said the choice to leave was difficult, and that he made himself available to come back, “CBS and I weren’t able to agree to terms on a new contract.”
NBC
Sophia Bush, Chicago PD
Season four of the NBC drama ended with Sophia Bush’s character entertaining a job offer in New York with the FBI and it sounds like she’s taking it and leaving the show. The show is called Chicago PD after all…
HBO
T.J. Miller, Silicon Valley
After four seasons on the HBO comedy, T.J. Miller is departing, calling it an “organic ending.” “Also, in a weird way, it’s interesting to me to leave a show at its height. It’s interesting to me to see how the show will grow and change with the exit of this character,” he told EW.
CBS
Erinn Hayes, Kevin Can Wait
After just one season on the CBS comedy, there’s a shakeup afoot. Erinn Hayes, who played wife to Kevin James, will leave as part of a creative shakeup. However, from the sounds of her tweet, it wasn’t a mutual decision. “True, I’ve been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1,” Hayes said on Twitter. “Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans.”
ABC
Jennifer Morrison, Once Upon a Time
Emma Swan is leaving Storybrooke. Jennifer Morrison announced she will leave the Once Upon a Time should it return for a seventh season. She will appear in one episode of season seven should ABC renew it.
ABC
Connie Britton, Nashville
Y’all heard the rumors about a Connie Britton‘s potential exit from the series once it was revived by CMT, but Britton herself downplayed them…for a time. Britton’s character Rayna died from injuries sustained in a car accident. She took to Instagram to pay tribute to the character and the show after the episode aired. “It has been an honor to be a part of that creation. And as I know she would want it, the show must, and will go on. Long live Rayna Jaymes,” she wrote.
ABC
Stana Katic, Castle
Castle without Beckett? You better believe it. After eight seasons of solving crimes and falling in love, Stana Katic was let go from the long-running series by ABC (along with her co-star Tamala Jones) prior to a potential season nine renewal, leaving Nathan Fillion‘s Castle to handle things on his own, should the series return. Following the surprising announcement, Katic released a statement to E! News, saying, “Rather than distract from what was an amazing experience I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans.”
Tina Rowden/FOX
Nicole Beharie, Sleepy Hollow
Yes, it’s for real: Sleepy Hollow star Nicole Beharie confirmed following the show’s season three finale that her character, Abbie Mills, was really dead. As in not supernaturally coming back somehow should the show be renewed for a fourth season.
CBS
Michael Weatherly, NCIS
After 13 years with the show, Michael Weatherly, who was with the series from the start, announced he would be leaving NCIS. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today—the No. 1 drama in the world,” CBS said in a statement. “We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”
The CW
Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries
TVD‘s fandom was left speechless when its leading lady revealed she would be exiting the show after six seasons…and  that the show was still going on without her. Delena and Stelena fans alike were devastated. “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime,” Nina Dobrev wrote in an open letter. “I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever.” BRB, sobbing!

Kal Penn, House
What to do when you’re on one of TV’s hottest shows, but get a job at the White House? If you’re Kal Penn on House, your character commits suicide and you go work for President Obama!
NBC
Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU
Law & Order: SVU was about Benson and Stabler for 12 years…until Meloni left the series after tense contract negotiations. Everyone assumed things would work out and the two would continue to bust perps, but life doesn’t always work out and Benson was left Stabler-less. However, the show was reinvigorated and is now in season 17.
CBS
Cote de Pablo, NCIS
Ziva left the building on her own accord. Cote de Pablo has spoken out about leaving the hit CBS series after close to 200 episodes, saying it was a personal decision. “As far as my decision to leave, that’s a personal thing, and I’d rather leave it at that,” she said. “The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing—at times terrifying.” Her exit shocked fans, especially those who shipped her character’s relationship with Michael Weatherly‘s character.
HBO
Christopher Abbott, Girls
Marnie (Allison Williams) and Charlie (Christopher Abbott) were finally happy together…but then Abbott left the show between seasons, citing he was unable to relate to the world Lena Dunham crafted.
Paul Drinkwater/NBCU Photo Bank
Kellie Martin, ER
Whenever anybody left ER, the question came up: Why would you leave TV’s hottest show? Well, Kellie Martin, whose character Lucy Knight was a bright up and coming med student, gave several reasons for her exit, including having a personal tragedy mar her time on the series. Lucy was brutally stabbed by a patient, her death forever haunting viewers.
ABC Photo Archives/ABC via Getty Images
David Caruso, NYPD Blue
Another “Did he really just leave one of TV’s biggest shows?” moments—David Caruso left NYPD Blue after one season due to contract issues. He wanted more money. He didn’t get more money.
ABC
Michael Vartan, Alias
The official reason behind Michael Vartan‘s late exit from the spy drama remains a mystery, but rumors have swirled it was due to his break-up with co-star Jennifer Garner. (He did return for the ultimate series ending, after it was revealed his character faked his own death.) Fans were NOT happy.
Macall B. Polay / HBO
Michael Pitt, Boardwalk Empire
The HBO hit series shocked fans when Jimmy Darmody was offed in the season two finale. While there were rumors about Michael Pitt‘s on-set behavior causing issues, producers maintained that the death was a creative decision.
WB
Shannen Doherty, Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210
TV’s quintessential bad girl, Shannen Doherty left 90210 after four seasons amidst rumors of bad behavior. She reprised the character of Brenda Walsh for the first time in 2008 on The CW’s 90210. Doherty exited her next big show, Charmed, after three seasons with—surprise—even more rumors of behind-the-scenes drama and feuds. 90210‘s Brenda went to acting school and Charmed‘s Prue was killed off.
Vivian Zink/ABC
Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight, Grey’s Anatomy
Katherine Heigl‘s exit was less than shocking, due to her headline-making comments over not getting enough material to warrant nominations and complaints over lying in a hospital bed for long hours due to her film schedule. T.R. Knight‘s exit was a bit more shocking, highlighting his lack of storyline and character growth in an interview with EW. Shonda Rhimes, of course, has no time for actors not wanting to be an attraction at Shondaland, so Izzy and George both scrubbed out of the ABC hit drama.
PBS
Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey
After so many ups and downs, Dan Stevens‘ Matthew Crawley finally landed the girl and had the baby…and then died. Stevens’ Downton exit riled viewers—where was the happy ending?!—and even pissed off his costar Michelle Dockery, but ultimately it did wonders for the show and Dockery’s Lady Mary.
CBS
Josh Charles, The Good Wife
Josh Charles‘ exit from The Good Wife is hands down one of TV’s best kept secrets. Yes, his death was shocking, but the fact that producers were able to keep it a secret is what really stands out. Star Julianna Margulies convinced Charles to stay with the show for 15 episodes of season five to craft a fitting exit. The powers that be explained they needed to kill him so his character wasn’t out there, always a possibility for Alicia.
MTV
Crystal Reed, Teen Wolf
After three seasons, Crystal Reed went to producers and asked to be written off the show in order to pursue other opportunities. Choosing not to give fans a heads up, the viewers were stunned when Allison died in her first love Scott’s arms in the penultimate episode of season three. “It’s an interesting thing when the actor says, ‘Hey, I want to try something new,'” boss Jeff Davis told us of actors leaving the show (Colton Haynes, Daniel Sharman and Tyler Hoechlin have all exited). “You to have to decide whether you’re going to say, ‘Can we convince you to stay?’ And as a producer, I don’t want anyone to work on the show who feels like they want to move on.”
The CW
Colton Haynes, Arrow
Unbeknownst to fans, Colton Haynes, fresh off his exit from Teen Wolf, only signed a two-year deal to play Roy, an unusual move for the studio. Arrow then shocked fans by faking his character’s death at first, only to reveal it was a cruel joke. Still, it left the door open for him to return (which he has, and will again).
ABC/Kelsey McNeal
Patrick Dempsey, Grey’s Anatomy
Mer lost her Der in an unthinkable twist. Patrick Dempsey was killed off, leaving Ellen Pompeo‘s character to move on without McDreamy. Series creator Shonda Rhimes cited a similar reason to The Good Wife for killing off the character. “The decision to have the character die the way that he did was not a difficult one in the sense of what were the options?” Rhimes said at the 2015 Summer TCA press tour. “Either Derek was going to walk out on Meredith, and leave her high and dry, and what was that going to mean? That was going to suggest that the love was not true, the thing we had said for 11 years was a lie and McDreamy wasn’t McDreamy. For me, that was untenable.”
FOX
Mischa Barton, The OC
The OC without Marissa Cooper?! The thought alone was blasphemous at the time of the Fox show’s heyday…but then it happened. Rumors about whether or not it was MischaBarton‘s decision to leave swirled for years, but Josh Schwartz has come out and said it was a mutual decision made to shake up the series.
