Alternative universe. Historical AU. Fantasy AU. One shot. A soldier makes a visit to a witch.
Hedera_helix is best known for Dresden and The Crossing series (both must reads!) but this is my favorite. It's a grown up fairytale.
Levi is a witch and Erwin is a military officer. They start off on the wrong foot but grow closer. Then war is declared.

Nile Dok had no intention of ever seeing his daughters’ babysitter in lingerie.
In real life, at least. What he thinks about while jerking off in the shower is his own business. He’s certainly not proud of it. And it’s not like he’s ever planned on making those fantasies a reality.
But here he is, sitting on a plush velvet seat in a private room at a goddamn strip club, tipsy on cheap shots and beer, his crotch covered in bright pink body glitter.
And there you are, standing in front of him in a flimsy G-string and a sheer, sequined bra, your eyes wide and unblinking.
“M-Mr. Dok?”
And Nile says the only word he can think of at this exact moment.
“Fuck.”
•••
It all began with Miche’s bachelor party.
“I thought we agreed on something low-key,” Nile mutters, spearing a piece of spinach on his fork.
Erwin and Miche had convinced him to join them for lunch so that they could discuss the plan for later that evening. It initially sounded reasonable — dinner at an upscale steakhouse, drinks at a barcade not far from there — but then...
“It’ll be fun.” Erwin smiles, thanking the waitress as she refills his water. “I don’t think we’ve been to a strip club together since college.”
Nile gives him a flat stare. “Because that went so well.”
One of their frat brothers had gotten fucking wasted and vomited on himself, and that was after another one had been kicked out for trying to convince a dancer — very loudly and publicly — to give him a blowjob.
“This is different. We’re mature adult men who won’t be stuck babysitting freshmen.” Miche nudges Nile with his elbow, giving him a knowing look. “Besides, it’ll do you some good.”
Nile raises an eyebrow. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Erwin and Miche share a pained look in silence before Erwin dabs at his lip with his napkin and answers, “We’re just... concerned. It’s been two years since the divorce —” Nile winces. “— and we don’t think it would hurt for you to get out more.”
Although difficult, Nile bites back his bitter reply and considers his friend’s words. It’s true. Since he and Marie finalized their divorce, he hasn’t had much interest in dating, or even just getting his dick wet.
And his social life has dwindled as a result of him choosing to focus all of his attention on work and the weeks he had with his daughters. That in itself had been stressful, adjusting to joint custody and trying to balance the girls’ varying schedules.
The calendar on his fridge is a color-coded whirlwind. Maddy’s horseback riding lessons, Liv’s gymnastics classes, Ava’s soccer practice... Marie has flexible work hours and a home office, but for a while, Nile was at his wits’ end trying to stay on top of everything — which is why he hired you.
Not only are you able to balance your schoolwork with taking care of the girls, but they adore you. Past experiences had led Nile to expect the worst. His daughters were, admittedly, a handful. But you took it all in stride, and now he suspects they actually prefer your company to his.
He can’t even blame them. At twenty-two, you’re much more responsible than he was at that age. You have your own apartment, you just started your first semester of grad school, enrolled in a dual Master’s and PhD program, and you’re communicative, punctual, and kind.
You’re also very attractive. It’s such a cliché, stroking his cock while thinking about the hot, young babysitter. He recently turned forty, and the fact that he’s nearly twice your age fills him with shame — but also a perverse excitement.
It’s hard not to think about you. The way you smile at him, a little shyly sometimes. How your thin cotton t-shirts cling to your body after spending sweltering afternoons sitting outside at Ava’s soccer field. Watching you bend over to pick up the girls’ toys and coloring books, your leggings tight against the curve of your ass —
“So, are you in?”
Erwin’s voice shakes Nile from his thoughts, and he instinctively nods, grimacing while his two friends grin at him. He’s all too familiar with their mischief faces, the ones they wear whenever they’re plotting something, be it a stupid prank or some workplace strategy that inevitably decimates the competition.
But after lunch, Nile forgets about those looks. He finishes his work by five, goes home to change clothes, and meets Erwin and Miche at the restaurant, where he catches up with Levi, Hange, and Moblit. It’s even harder to remember after they have several rounds of drinks at the barcade and he repeatedly gets his ass handed to him while playing Street Fighter.
It’s not until he’s three vodka shots deep at the strip club, embarrassed and half hard after a lap dance he suspects Hange filmed “for posterity — definitely not blackmail,” that it all comes back to him.
As Miche guides him, large hands heavy on his shoulders, slurring about a “surprise,” Nile feels suddenly panicked. It only worsens when he’s shoved into a dimly-lit room lined with heavy curtains and smelling thickly of apple-scented body spray.
“Enjoy,” Miche sternly commands, jabbing a finger in Nile’s direction before he bursts into laughter and stumbles off, no doubt looking for Erwin who, last Nile checked, was too preoccupied with Levi’s tongue to notice anything happening around him.
Feeling worried beneath the pleasant haze of alcohol, Nile considers leaving and telling Miche he stupidly wasted his money.
But then the curtains part, and...
“Fuck.”
•••
He blinks again and again, as if you might be a figment of his filthy imagination, liable to vanish at any moment. He would love nothing more than that.
Instead, there you stand, frozen, your glossy pink lips parted in shock.
“Jesus Christ,” Nile mutters, rubbing at his eyes with his palms. “Can you just — I don’t —”
“I swear I didn’t know.” Your words come out in a frantic rush. “This guy said he wanted to buy a private dance for his friend, but he — you...”
You trail off when Nile scoots forward far enough to shrug out of his jacket. He offers it to you, keeping his eyes trained on the floor. “Put this on. Please.”
He listens as the fabric rustles, and when he finally peeks up at you, he’s relieved to see that you’re hugging the bomber jacket tight around your body, concealing your scanty outfit.
“How long...” He swallows hard, trying to sound calm despite the slight tremor in his voice. “How long have you been working here?”
“Um... Three weeks.” You bite your lip and glance away before meeting his gaze again. “The funding for my assistantship was cut, and I... I had to figure out a way to pay my tuition. But every part-time job I looked at overlapped with my classes or — or the time I spend with the girls.”
Nile takes a deep, steadying breath. But before he can speak, you ramble on, “I know this is — You probably don’t want me around them anymore, and I get that, really, I just didn’t... I didn’t know what else to do, and the hours are flexible, and —”
He raises his hands in a placating gesture, and you stop, eyes still wide and now brimming with tears. “It’s okay,” he assures you. “I’m not mad, I promise. Just concerned. And I’m not firing you or anything. Don’t worry about that.”
Nile watches your shoulders relax, and the soft gratefulness of your “thank you” sinks low in his gut, a feeling he has to push away as he sits forward and rests his chin on his fist.
“Tell me how much you need, and I’ll pay it.”
His words clearly startle you, and they even catch him off guard, rolling off his tongue before he can fully think through what exactly he’s offering.
It’s not a question of can he do it. He’s a partner at the law firm he runs with Erwin and Miche. Over the years, he’s been frugal with his money, and even though the divorce cost a pretty penny, he’s still in a position where he’s confident he can cover your expenses.
The question is should he do it. This new arrangement would fundamentally change your relationship. It’s always been transactional between the two of you, with him writing you checks in exchange for the hours you put in looking after the girls.
But this would be different — more of a gift than an exchange, though he supposes there’s a way to fix that.
“My only condition is that you quit doing this.” He gestures around at the private room. “It’s dangerous work.”
You shake your head, insisting, “They take care of everyone here. Cameras, security —”
Nile’s brow furrows. “My point still stands. And it doesn’t sound like this is what you want to be doing.”
At that, you hesitate, then nod. “Right.”
“Then it’s settled.” Nile sits back, resting his head against the wall. “When you come over tomorrow, have a number ready.”
You sink down onto the opposite seat, seeming overwhelmed. “Mr. Dok, I can’t... That’s too much. I can’t ask you for this.”
Nile’s cheeks heat when you say his name in such a pleading tone — Mr. Dok — and he crosses one leg over the other, feeling his cock twitch in his pants.
“Then it’s a good thing you’re not asking. I’m offering.” He manages a tight smile. “How long is this... uh... supposed to last?”
You seem momentarily confused before answering, “Oh! He paid for ten minutes — three songs.”
Fucking Miche... Nile pinches the bridge of his nose. “Will you still get paid if you just... leave now?”
“I think so. I’ll just say you didn’t want the full time.”
Deeming himself decent enough to stand, he does so. But when you begin to slip out of his jacket, he’s quick to insist, “No, keep it. You — I just —”
He turns away, trying to keep it together. Now that he can see around the little center table, your legs are on full display, swathes of bare skin, so fucking tempting —
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Miche pouts when he sees Nile walking towards their group, now lounging at the bar. Erwin has his arm draped around Levi, his cheeks pink, and Moblit looks like he’s passed out. Hange keeps poking his cheek and gleefully sing-songing his name.
“What, you couldn’t get it up? I picked a pretty one!” Miche gently punches Nile’s shoulder. “Young, nice tits —”
“Shut up,” Nile grumbles. “You’re fucking drunk.”
“Aren’t we all?” Erwin muses, and Levi allows him to plant a messy kiss on his cheek, despite wrinkling his nose at the smell of beer on his breath.
Nile somehow manages to pile everyone into an Uber, waving at Nanaba as Miche totters up to their house, yelling, “Honey, I’m home!” even as she shushes him. And he makes sure that Hange and Moblit make it into their apartment building without incident.
Parked at the curb outside Erwin’s house, Levi easily maneuvers the larger man out of the SUV and gives Nile a curt wave. “Say goodnight, blondie.”
Erwin laughs and does so, looking at Nile over his shoulder as he adds, “See? Much more fun than last time.”
But Nile begs to disagree. When he walks into his empty house, leaves his clothes in a heap on the floor, and takes a shower cold enough to numb his fingers, he can’t stop thinking about your fearful eyes, your embarrassment, your gratitude and relief.
More than that, even when he squeezes his eyes shut, scrubbing his body as if he could wash away how disgusting he feels, he sees your body.
The swell of your breasts, nipples visible through the thin, sheer bra. The curve of your waist, the sway of your hips when you walked. How soft you looked.
Before you realized it was him, he had caught the sultry look on your face, your lips curled up at the corners — an expression that would make most men hard in an instant, desperate to feel you pressed against them, whatever they could get.
“Fucking fuck,” he hisses, turning off the water and running his hands through his wet hair.
It was one thing to imagine it. But now that he’s actually seen you... He doesn’t know what the hell he’s going to do.
•••
The next morning, Marie drops off the girls at ten o’clock. Nile’s grateful to have been able to sleep in. He woke up with a pounding headache, popped two ibuprofen, and nursed a glass of water alongside his usual cup of coffee while replying to emails.
Erwin and Miche spend their weekends doing things other than work. Nile tries to do the same but usually fails. His concept of a work-life balance is admittedly not the healthiest.
He’s nearly knocked to the ground when his daughters, happy and smiling, backpacks swinging wildly, leap out of the car and throw themselves at him.
It hits him sometimes, how much time has passed. Maddy’s already ten, while Ava and Liv are close behind her at eight and six. He can still remember the night he and Marie learned she was pregnant for the first time, three tests lined up on the bathroom counter, just to be sure.
As the girls run inside, no doubt eager to devour the blueberry pancakes Nile always makes on Saturdays, Marie steps out and joins him in the driveway.
“You look like shit.” She says it kindly, a quirk to her lips as Nile huffs out a laugh.
“Miche’s bachelor party.”
“Ah... Now it makes sense.”
Silence stretches between them, neither one exactly sure how to continue the conversation. Their interactions have been more amicable in the last year, time doing its part to smooth things over. But it’s still difficult for Nile to wrap his head around it.
The fact that they were married for thirteen years, and now they’re practically strangers.
“They’re excited to go to the pool,” Marie finally says. “I made sure they packed their beach towels.”
Nile nods. “Yeah, I think the weather will hold up this weekend. Maybe we’ll have a cookout tomorrow.”
Marie smiles before distractedly glancing down at her phone. “Sorry, I better get going — appointment with a client.”
He waves her off, nodding, “Of course, yeah, go ahead. It’s uh... good to see you.”
After she leaves and he walks back inside, he lets his head drop back against the door with a dull thud. Good to see you? Fucking idiot.
He would be lying if he said it wasn’t still painful, even just a little. Seeing her always brings to mind the visceral memory of coming home after working late on an upcoming case. The girls were already in bed, and he thought Marie would be, too. Instead, she was waiting for him at the dining room table, wringing her hands. Nile... There’s something I need to tell you.
“Daaaad!” Maddy pokes her head around the corner. “Is there any more syrup?”
Nile swallows, trying to get rid of the bitter taste in his mouth, and then forces himself to smile. “Yep. Want some whipped cream, too?”
She gives him a look that clearly says Duh, rolling her eyes, and Nile follows close behind, reaching out to ruffle her dark hair, so much like his own.
•••
When you arrive at noon, the girls are still putting on their swimsuits and arguing over which pool floaties to take with them. Nile suggests the two of you talk in his study, and when you sit across from him, he notices how nervous you look.
“So, how much do you need?”
Instead of answering, you hand him a stack of printouts — your current tuition balance, details on your now-canceled assistantship and its monthly stipend, and receipts for textbooks you charged to a credit card several weeks ago.
“It’s a lot,” you explain, “and I didn’t want you to think I was lying or taking advantage.” You clasp your hands in your lap, gaze fixed on Nile’s desk.
Looking at the numbers, Nile nods. It is substantial. You attend a renowned school, and the tuition reflects as much. Quickly adding up the expenses, he reaches for his checkbook. But then he hesitates.
“What about your rent?” You blink up at him, seeming taken aback. “Food?”
“I...” Your brow furrows. “What you pay me now is — it’s fine. I’m fine.”
Nile’s voice softens. “It’s still just a part-time job. I don’t want you feeling like you have to live paycheck to paycheck.”
You’re biting your lip again, that stubborn, nervous habit that always draws his eye. Finally — begrudgingly — you tell him how much you’re paying each month for both rent and groceries.
Nile does the necessary math and writes a check, tearing it neatly from the pad and offering it to you. Your mouth falls open when you see the number, disbelief making your posture stiffen. “This is… This is more than — Mr. Dok, I really can’t —”
“You quit your job at the club, right?” You nod, and Nile shrugs. “Then yes, you can.”
“But I...” Your grip tightens on the slip of paper before you tuck it away in your purse. “Thank you. I just —”
You’re interrupted by multiple pairs of scampering feet, the study door swinging open to reveal the girls. They’re on you in an instant, shrieking your name. Nile watches as you hug each of them, complimenting Ava’s pink frilly one-piece, Maddy’s French braids, Liv’s inner tube that’s patterned like a frosted donut.
“You’re all ready to go, huh?” You laugh as they attempt to drag you from the room, your flip-flops slapping against the hardwood floor.
When you look back over your shoulder at Nile, he grins and you stick your tongue out, seeming to have forgotten your previous anxiety.
“But it looks like your dad still needs to get changed.”
And then suddenly Nile’s the one being propelled through the house, apologizing even as he laughs, promising to be quick when Ava demands, “Hurry up!”
He briefly considers wearing shorts but opts for his swim trunks. Even though he plans to stay poolside, reading on his Kindle, maybe even drinking a hard lemonade, he’ll at least look the part.
By the time the five of you make it over to the housing allotment pool, it’s fairly crowded. You claim a group of lounge chairs and a small table with an umbrella, then set to work making sure the girls are wearing plenty of sunscreen.
In addition to Liv’s donut, Maddy has a kid-sized pineapple raft. Nile knows she’s good about sharing with her sisters, so he doesn’t bother to remind her before she races off towards the deep end.
Luckily, the girls are all strong swimmers, but he’s grateful that you agreed to come along, even though it’s his day off. It’s nice, being able to spend some time with his family while balancing the responsibility of watching over them with someone else.
Like he used to do with Marie.
He pushes that thought away and is quickly distracted when you grab the hem of your t-shirt and pull it up and over your head.
It’s pathetic, how every little glimpse of skin makes heat spread across his cheeks and neck. He’s seen you in a swimsuit before — a floral one-piece. But today, he’s startled to see that you’ve chosen a bikini.
It’s more modest than the outfit you wore last night. But it leaves little to the imagination, especially considering how clearly he remembers seeing parts of you that are now covered up. When you bend over to pull your denim shorts down, he inhales sharply, trying in vain to pull his gaze from the peek of cleavage.
But his traitorous eyes linger, and even though he’s wearing sunglasses, you catch the direction of his stare when you look up. You seem flustered as you turn towards the pool.
Shit. He feels ashamed, making a point of looking away as you climb down the ladder and are immediately thrown into a splashing contest with the girls.
He’s a fucking pervert, looking at you like that in public — looking at you like that at all. It’s been a year since you first started babysitting for him, but he’ll be lucky if you stick around another week if he keeps leering.
For the next few hours, he tries to ignore you, reading without actually absorbing anything that’s happening on the page. But when the girls exit the pool to eat PB&Js and potato chips, begging him in between bites to come swim with them once they’re done, he relents.
Soon enough, it’s his turn to disrobe, dropping his t-shirt onto the chaise and turning to face the pool. He played soccer all through high school and college, and he still makes a point of working out regularly. Even so, he feels especially conscious of his age, glancing around and seeing a group of twenty-something guys floating around the shallow end, their beer cans poorly hidden behind insulated koozies.
It’s only when he stands at the top of the ladder and looks down that he realizes you’re not looking at the buff lacrosse boys. You’re looking at him.
He’s waiting for you to laugh, or quip something like, “Now we’re even.” But you don’t. You watch as he lowers himself into the pool and only look away after he ducks down beneath the water in an effort to adjust to the cooler temperature.
As he plays catch with Ava, tossing a foam ball back and forth, he tries not to read too far into it. In fact, he does everything he can to put it out of his mind, even when the girls insist you all play tag, and you grab onto his waist, breathlessly murmuring, “You’re it,” before darting away.
Jesus fuck, you might just be the death of him. He suddenly feels like he’s thirteen again, having a boner in a public swimming pool.
He keeps it together all the way home and manages to hide out in his bedroom while you organize baths and put chicken nuggets in the oven for the wiped out kiddos. They barely make it through dinner, sleepily hugging both you and Nile before stumbling off to bed.
Your hair’s still a little damp, but you’re wearing fresh clothes. The scent of chlorine and sunscreen hangs in the air as Nile walks you to the door.
“Thanks again,” you tell him, stepping out onto the front porch. “For everything.”
“Of course.” Nile waits, sensing you have something else on your mind. But when you bite your lip the tiniest bit, offering him nothing more than a small smile, he rubs the back of his neck and says, “So... See you on Monday?”
“Yep.” You wave as you set off down the path, digging for your keys in your purse.
Nile closes the door and leans against it, much like he did this morning. It feels as though something has changed between the two of you. Not all that surprising, considering the financial exchange. But it’s more than that.
He prides himself on being a rational, practical man, hesitant to give in to hopes built on insubstantial evidence. It’s difficult, though, not to examine your previous interactions and wonder if maybe, just maybe, something’s been there all along.
Don’t be stupid. Feeling irritable and restless, he changes clothes and heads down to the basement, where he keeps a rowing machine and treadmill. He’ll run a few miles, clear his head. Remind himself that you’re young and beautiful and entirely off limits.
•••
The simmering heat of August bleeds into September, daytime temperatures still high and much too humid for Nile’s liking. When the community pool closes after Labor Day, the girls spend many of their afternoons taking turns in an inflatable kiddie pool in the backyard.
You rarely join them, usually sitting on a folding beach chair under the patio awning, a textbook open on your lap. But when you do, Nile always seems to catch a glimpse when he arrives home from work, shedding his suit jacket and tie, trying not to wonder what color bikini you’re wearing that day.
Because it’s clear by now that you own several. Your one-piece occasionally makes an appearance, not that it makes him ogle any less. By now, Nile’s used to tearing himself away from the window, swearing under his breath — and sometimes pouring a shot of whiskey, if he’s feeling desperate.
And god, is he desperate. It’s not just the bikinis. It’s true that you’ve become more familiar with him in the past year, relaxing into your role. You’re funny and sweet, asking him about work, how he’s feeling that day, if there’s any chores or shopping he needs help with.
But if he didn’t know any better, he would think you’re now trying to torment him.
Your small touches seem to have increased in frequency — a hand on his arm while you laugh at one of his dry jokes, your fingers brushing against his hip when you reach around him in the kitchen, your leg pressed tight to his when he invites you to stay for movie night, everyone piled onto the couch, passing a big popcorn bowl back and forth.
He catches you looking at him, too, your gaze lingering not just on his face, but his forearms when he rolls up his sleeves to chop vegetables for dinner; his neck when he rolls it, complaining about his bad posture; even his lips —
No, that can’t be right. He’s breaking his own rule and reading too much into small, innocent gestures. Surely that’s all it is.
September becomes October, and then it’s well and truly fall, a pleasant chill settling into the air. Nile throws himself into work with renewed vigor, despite Erwin and Miche’s well-meaning protests.
“You need a vacation.” Miche leans against Nile’s desk, his gold wedding band shining in the afternoon sunlight. He and Nanaba opted to elope, deciding to have a small celebration with friends upon their return.
Nile quickly reminds himself that he offered to host the party, since his house has the most space. He’ll need to do some extra cleaning, add a few items to the weekly grocery list —
Miche snaps his fingers in Nile’s face, making him jerk back in his chair. “Jesus,” the larger man mutters. “Seriously, you’re freaking me out.”
“I’m fine,” Nile insists, his tone sharper than he intends. “Just busy.”
“You know the whole point of all three of us running this place was to share the load, right?” Erwin leans against the far wall, arms crossed, looking just as concerned as Miche.
“You’re burning out, Nile. Take a week off. Hell, take two. We can handle things just fine in the meantime.”
Nile bristles, a heated reply at the ready. But glancing between his two partners — his two best friends, the ones who’ve put up with him since freshman year of college — he knows they’re serious.
And he knows they’re right. He could use some time off. He’s always had a bad habit of using work to avoid whatever else is on his mind. During the divorce, there were nights he slept at the office, keeping clean clothes in his filing cabinet and a toothbrush in the empty mug on his desk.
But he can’t keep going like this. Always running away, he laments. Yet another reason why Marie left him. She needed a partner, someone to lean on and be there. But he was too much of a coward to make the hard decisions.
“Start with next week,” Erwin suggests, and Miche nods, echoing his suggestion. “And if you need some help getting ready for the party, I can come over early. We both can.”
Nile slumps back in his chair. “Okay. Yeah. That sounds... good.”
Miche chuckles. “You sound thrilled.”
Shooing him away, Nile busies himself with moving any meetings he had scheduled next week and forwarding files and email threads to the two men who finally, mercifully, decide to leave him alone.
Time off will be good for him. He repeats the idea over and over to himself, letting the words sink in. He has the girls next week. Maybe they can take a short road trip, or, at the very least, go apple picking or shop for Halloween costumes.
Maybe you can come along. They’ll probably beg him to invite you, anyway. That’s all it is — making sure his daughters are happy. Nothing more than that.
If he says it enough, maybe he’ll convince himself.
•••
Saturday arrives, and Nile is stressed. Not only is Miche’s party in several hours, but Marie is sick and asked if he could take the girls for an extra day instead of picking them up the following morning.
“Fucking — ow.” He recoils from the hot baking sheet he just pulled out of the oven, his knuckle having brushed against the corner.
“Are you okay?”
His head snaps up at the sound of your voice. You’re standing a few feet away, worriedly glancing between him and the tray of cookies.
“Yeah, sorry.” He looks around. “They’re still upstairs, right?”
You laugh softly and nod. “They’re too deep into a Disney movie marathon to hear me talking to them, let alone hear their dad swearing.”
He drops the pot holders on the counter and runs a hand through his hair, sighing heavily. “Well, good. Erwin should be here soon, but I’m just —”
“You want everything to be perfect. I get it.” You step closer and surprise him by taking his hand, turning it over so that you can look at the burn. “Hmm… Not bad. I think you’ll live.”
Nile huffs out a laugh. “Are you sure, doctor?”
When you look up at him, there’s still amusement in your eyes. But something else, too. You almost seem distracted, noticeably thoughtful, and Nile nearly flinches when your thumb brushes over the tender spot on his knuckle, already turning pink.
“Yeah. I am.”
Both of you jump when another voice asks, “Should I come back later?”
Erwin stands in the doorway, smiling in a way that’s both curious and mischievous. “Sorry. Door was open.”
Nile tries to push away the twinge of hurt he feels when you quickly drop his hand.
“It’s still polite to knock,” he gripes, but Erwin merely shrugs, his attention focused on you.
“You must be the babysitter.” He offers a large hand, and you take it, smiling as you introduce yourself.
“Miche’s just grabbing some stuff from the car. Hold on, he’ll want to —”
This time, Nile hears the front door open — at least one of them isn’t a sneaky bastard — and Miche walks in moments later, arms laden with a box of decorations and a cooler full of drinks.
He sets everything down on the floor, wipes his hands on his jeans, and looks up. Erwin’s already gesturing to you, mouth open to speak, and Nile’s distractedly placing cookies on the cooling rack. But Miche freezes, eyes locked on your face.
“I... Wait, I remember...” He claps his hands once, then says, “Yes. The strip club! Nile’s private dance!”
Nile is honestly shocked he remembers, considering how inebriated he was that night. “Miche, you —”
“Daddy, what’s a strip club?”
Nile catches a glimpse of Miche and Erwin’s horrified expressions before he turns around to find Ava standing beside you. She’s wearing her favorite blue pajamas with yellow stars and holding Walter, a stuffed penguin she’s had since she was four.
“I’m so— Fuck.”
“Miche.”
“Sorry! Shit — sorry.”
You look embarrassed and panicked as you duck around Nile, shove some cookies onto a nearby plate, and then gently guide Ava back towards the stairs.
“Is it time to watch Tangled? I’ll braid your hair like Rapunzel’s. How does that sound?”
Ava chatters happily, her voice slightly muffled by the sound of her munching on a cookie, and Nile sighs with relief.
After an awkward silence, Miche coughs lightly and says, “You, uh... You must have really liked her moves.” Seeming to have recovered from his mortification, he grins. “You’re welcome, by the way.”
Erwin gives him a shove. “She’s the babysitter.”
“Huh?” Miche turns to Nile, finally noticing his scowl, and very quietly says, “Oh.”
Erwin begins to decorate, setting out framed photos and floral arrangements, while Miche retrieves Nile’s expensive scotch from his study and pours each of them a generous glass. And then, Nile explains everything — including his sordid little crush and the additional checks he’s continued to write.
“So...” Erwin turns to look at him, a crepe paper streamer dangling from his hands. “You’re her sugar daddy?”
Nile nearly chokes on his drink. “No. Absolutely not.”
Miche leans against the counter, ticking off on his fingers as he speaks. “She’s young and pretty. You pay her bills every month. You’re having sex.”
“When did I say — We’re not —” Nile glances around, paranoid that you or one of the girls will walk in at any moment.“We’re not having sex.”
At that, Miche looks confused, more so than he has during the entire conversation. “But Erwin said —”
“You were holding hands when I walked in,” Erwin points out, having finished with the streamers. He rips open a package of balloons and gives Nile a pointed look. “And practically eye-fucking each other. You think I don’t know what flirting looks like?”
“Jesus, you’re both —” Nile drains the rest of his scotch and sets the glass down harder than he means to. “It’s not like that. I’m — She would never...”
Miche sighs. “You’ve got it bad, buddy. But it sounds like you might actually have a shot.”
Erwin hums in agreement, but Nile snorts. “Fucking stupid. Because why...” He grips the countertop hard. “Why would she want me?”
The way he says it, muttered so quietly, it would be easy to miss, makes the other two men pause.
“Nile, you’re not damaged goods.” Erwin speaks first, walking into the kitchen and clasping Nile’s shoulder. “I know it’s been hard, with Marie... But just because things didn’t work out with her doesn’t mean they’ll never work out with anyone else.”
“I know,” Nile mutters, even though it’s mostly a lie.
“Look at it this way.” Miche spreads his hands. “If things keep going the way they are, you’ll be miserable. Tell her how you feel. Worst case scenario, she rejects you and quits. But best case?”
He smiles warmly. “You’ll be happy. And I can’t tell you how much we want that for you.”
Nile squeezes his eyes shut, even as Erwin hugs him around the shoulders. “I hate you both.”
“We love you, too,” Erwin replies easily, and Nile can hear the smile in his voice. “Now, let’s finish up before Mrs. Zacharias gets here and kicks all our asses.”
•••
The party doesn’t wrap up until the early hours of the morning. It wasn’t too crazy, despite the fact that Hange brought Jell-O shots and a bottle of Everclear, which made Erwin practically dry heave on sight.
It was actually nice, spending time with friends, especially ones Nile hadn’t seen in years, all the while knowing that he has a whole week off ahead of him.
After gathering the trash and washing a tall stack of dirty dishes, Nile quietly walks upstairs, wondering if you fell asleep in the girls’ blanket fort or snuck off to your bedroom for the night.
Technically, it’s a guest bedroom. But you’ve had to spend the night enough times that he’s come to think of it as yours. When he repainted it earlier this year, he asked you to pick the color. And you keep some essentials in the nightstand — toothbrush, toothpaste, a whole stash of travel items — as well as a few books on the desk in the corner.
As he closes his bedroom door, he considers the fact that soon, that will likely change. He’ll fuck things up between you by making a move, and then you’ll be gone. It’s not as if he’ll blame you. But he’s already dreading your absence, the hole you’ll leave behind.
A soft knock at the door startles him as he pulls on a well-worn t-shirt. Expecting Maddy, upset after having a nightmare, he’s surprised to find you standing in the hallway instead.
You’re wearing a tank top and shorts, and you bite your lip before murmuring, “Can I come in?”
Too stunned to speak, Nile nods and steps aside. It’s the first time you’ve been in his room, and he watches as you look around, taking in the deep green walls and simple black furniture.
But then you turn around and say, in one quick, rushed breath, “I’m so sorry about earlier.”
Nile shakes his head. “It’s fine, you don’t —”
“No, it’s not.” You’re wringing your hands, and when he gestures for you to sit down, you perch on the edge of his mattress.
“I’m worried that I... embarrassed you. And you’ve been so nice to me, but I don’t know why.” You stare down at the floor. “I can’t help but feel like I’m taking advantage.”
He remembers you using that phrase before and sighs. “You’re not. I just...”
Before he can think better of it, he sits down beside you. “You needed help. I’m in a position where I can give it. And you didn’t embarrass me at all.” He swallows hard. “If anything, I’m worried I’ve embarrassed you.”
Out of the corner of his eye, he can see you looking at him, puzzled by his words. “Fuck. I’m...” He runs a shaky hand through his hair. “I hope I haven’t made you uncomfortable — in any way.”
He finally faces you, heart hammering so hard it hurts as he forces the words out. “I care about you. More than I should. I just want to...” There’s no other way to say it, he thinks. “... take care of you.”
The brief moment of silence feels interminably long, and he’s already anticipating your rejection, you walking out of the room, packing your things, never coming back —
But then you scoot closer, smiling, and ask, “Are you sure it’s me who needs taking care of?”
Nile isn’t sure how to answer that. But he knows words would have failed him anyway the moment you touch his cheek.
“Even before the club, I...” You look flustered, but you take a breath and say, “You’re the only person I want... like this. At the pool that one day, I — I wore what I did because I was hoping... hoping you would look at me. That’s what I wanted every time.”
This is too much. It’s all too much. He never expected — always wondered, but even that was dangerous, so he never dared to hope.
“You should be with someone younger,” he says quietly, and when your brow furrows, he goes on. “Someone who can give you more than I can.”
“More?” Your tone is incredulous. “You’re kind and generous. You make me feel like I matter, like... like I’m wanted.” He shivers as your fingers slowly card through his hair.
“Do you want me?”
Your question hangs in the air for only a moment before Nile admits, “Yes. I — god, yes, I do —”
It only takes a moment for you to lean in and steal his words with your lips, the warmth and softness enough to make him groan. It’s been so long since he felt like this, and you feel even better than he imagined, every time he touched himself and pretended it was you instead.
When you pull away, he instinctively tries to follow. But you hold up a hand and step back, tugging your shorts down your legs.
“You never did get that private dance.” Your words are bold, but he can tell you’re still nervous, hands shaking a little as you remove your clothes.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to —”
“I saw how you looked at me that night.” You’re wearing almost as little as you did then, a thin bralette and cotton panties that hug your hips.
“And at the pool.” You gently push his legs open, eyes lingering on his boxers before you turn around, facing the wall. “And all those other times you thought I wouldn’t notice.”
When you bend over, pressing your ass against him, Nile sucks in a tight breath. His hands reach for your hips on instinct, but you lightly smack them away.
You look over your shoulder and smile, your self-consciousness seeming to have vanished. “No touching.”
He nods, lips parted in dumbstruck awe as you grind against him once more before reaching back to unclasp your bralette. It drops to the floor, and even the prospect of seeing you bare for him, all for him, has Nile painfully hard.
You turn to face him, pushing him back further on the bed, and he doesn’t know where to look — your perfect tits, your plush, smirking lips, your curves, everything so tantalizing, right there, right in front of him...
You straddle his lap and move your hips in teasing circles, just barely brushing against his cock every time you lower yourself nearly to his lap. Nile’s head falls back, and he realizes he’s breathing hard, fists clenched in the duvet, wanting nothing more than to touch you instead.
“Is this what you wanted that night?” You’re sounding a little breathless, too, your gaze heavy and hazy with desire.
“Yes,” Nile rasps, watching as you reach up and grab your breasts. “I... I wanted you — want you — so bad.”
You reach down and pull at the hem of his t-shirt, and he helps you tug it up and off. Then your hands are on him, smoothing over his chest, trailing through the dark hair, down to his stomach, still lean and muscled but with a hint of softness.
“So handsome...” He nearly protests, and, seeming to sense his doubt, you bend forward and kiss his bare skin again and again. He’s having a difficult time holding back, practically panting by the time you palm his cock.
“Want me to make you feel good? Take care of you?”
Nile hardly recognizes the desperate moan that escapes him when you squeeze. “Please, please... I need you — need to feel you —”
You lean into him, body flush with his as you let out a pleasurable sigh. “You beg so sweetly, Mr. Dok.” And then your lips drag across his throat as you whisper, “You can touch me now.”
The words are barely out of your mouth when Nile grabs your waist, rolling over to pin you beneath him. He kisses you fiercely, his hand pushing between your thighs. When he touches you through your panties, you gasp into his mouth, and he smiles.
You want him. The proof is there, at his fingertips, even more evident when he pushes the thin fabric aside and touches you again. You want him.
“I wonder if I can make you beg,” he muses, slowly kissing down your neck, the movement of his mouth matching that of his fingers, teasing until you whine.
“Shhh...” It’s a whisper against your breast. “We don’t want to wake the girls, do we?”
You desperately shake your head, biting your lip in that way that makes him ache, and he slips a finger inside you, watching the pleasure play out on your face.
He gradually adds another finger, then another, quickly pumping them in and out while his thumb plays with your clit. You’re biting your hand to keep quiet, trembling, so close, and Nile nearly pushes you over the edge when he bends down and uses his tongue on your sweet little bud.
“Fuck — Nile —”
If he thought hearing you call him Mr. Dok was a turn-on, it’s nothing compared to the sound of you whimpering his name, your other hand fisted in his hair.
But then you’re reaching down to grab his wrist, and he frowns, pulling away — only to be shoved down onto the bed, your eager hands fumbling to remove his boxers. When your mouth wraps around his cock, he chokes.
You suck hard on his tip before releasing it with a wet pop. “What happened to being quiet?”
Keeping his gaze fixed on you, he brings his slick fingers to his lips, licking them clean, tasting you — and muffling his strangled groan when you take him into your mouth again.
He distantly wonders how many times you’ve done this. The way you handle him so expertly, how your jaw drops just enough for him to slide back, his tip touching the back of your throat, if only for a moment... He can already feel his balls tightening, and he hopes he doesn’t cum too fast, tries to control his breathing, his own fingers still filling his mouth.
As if you can sense his dilemma, you draw back, saliva dripping down your chin, tears glistening in your eyes, and goddamn fucking shit —
He wants to ruin you.
But there’s a competing desire within him that you seem to have caught on to, and it shows in your devious little smirk. “Still want me to take care of you?”
Nile withdraws his fingers, already missing the taste of you, and answers thickly, “Yes.”
“Yes what?”
You climb on top of him, one hand holding his cock as you position yourself above it. He can feel the heat of you, but when he gives a needy, shallow thrust, you click your tongue.
“Come on, daddy. I want to hear you beg.”
Nile feels dizzy with shame and arousal. His hands slide up your thighs and grasp your hips tight as he abandons his pride and whines, “Please… fuck me. I need you so bad, baby, I need —”
And then there are no words, only the feel of you sinking down onto him, your hands planted firmly on his chest as your eyes shut tight. He coaxes you through it, soft praises tumbling from his lips, and every little gasp, every whimper, only deepens his mindless desire for you.
“You’re doing so good, beautiful girl, my — ahh, fuck, that’s... You take me so well, sweetheart, look at you...”
When you finally begin to move, it’s a slow rolling of your hips, deep and sensual, and you’re lying on top of him, kissing along his jaw. He matches your pace, pushing into you even deeper, and you bury your face in his shoulder.
“Look at me, baby.” You do as he asks, and he says, “I know,” kissing you tenderly. “I know.”
He’s going to cum soon, he can feel it, and so he reaches between you to find your clit. With your forehead pressed to his, you shake and tense until you cry out, quickly muffling the sound against his shoulder. He helps you ride it out, then rolls you onto your back.
“Where do you want me?” he asks, and you manage to mumble “inside” and something about birth control, before he gives you a few more hard thrusts and then finishes, hissing your name and grunting when he feels your hands smoothing over his chest.
You weakly protest when he pulls out a few minutes later. But he kisses your cheek and climbs down off the bed, turning on the shower before rinsing his face with cold water.
He takes a moment to admire you, stretched out across his bed, a small, lazy smile on your lips. Rolling onto your side, you notice him watching and bury your face in the nearest pillow. “Stop.”
“What? Am I making you blush?”
When you refuse to answer, he crouches beside the bed and rubs your shoulder. “Don’t hide from me.”
You turn to look at him, and he still can’t quite believe that he’s the cause of your adorable, flustered expression.
“Let’s take a shower.”
You follow him into the bathroom and step into the tub, turning to let the hot water hit your back. As Nile shampoos your hair, trying not to think too hard about the fact that you’ll smell like him, sleep in his bed, wake up next to him, you let your fingers absently drift up and down his back.
There’s so much to talk about — how this is going to work, what your family will think, what your friends might say, what the two of you will tell the girls and when... It’s overwhelming. But even so...
“I’m happy.”
He remembers what Erwin and Miche said, about the potential risk and reward of pursuing this. About them wanting him to be happy, truly, for the first time in two years — maybe even more than that. It’s a strange, foreign feeling. But it’s one he could certainly get used to.
You smile at his words, his heart stirring at the warmth in your gaze, and you lean in close enough to bump your nose against his. “Me, too.”

Y/n walked along the small clean home of her brother and his wife. The black and red dress floated past her calves, her boots keeping her legs warm. She rinsed her cup and filled it with water.
She wasn’t one to get drunk at family events but right now seemed very appealing.
Y/n walked back to the back door watching her brother dance with his newly wedded wife. She looked down at her empty palm. ES.
She sighed as tears gathered at the edge of her eyes, age of 28 and still no lover. Handful of boyfriends but most found their soulmate in the middle of dating and others just lost interest.
Y/n wasn’t brave like her brother or had the natural motherly love like their mother, unfortunately she did have the stubbornness of their father. Kids didn’t seem… necessary. Why doom a child to a life of school then work then they must have children of their own to feel accomplished.
Her brother, Nile, always made the joke of having one extra child to keep their mother off her back but they both knew that wouldn’t happen.
Y/n! Tell me when do you plan to have children!
Y/n you know you won’t be able to have a child for much longer.
Y/n shook her head at the memories, mother you know you won’t be alive much other to see any grandchildren.
She chuckled to herself, she loved her mother but as everyone knows parents can be… well parents.
From the corner of Y/n’s eyes she could see a tall blond man walk to her, “Hello ma’am.”
She shook her head, “I’m not that old buddy.” Y/n gave him a side eye.
He was fit. His thick eyebrows and icy blue eyes caught her eye. He looked tired but happy. Fulfilled.
He chuckled at her comment, “my apologies. I take it you’re not the party type?”
Y/n shrugged watching Marie, Nile and guests dance happily. She wanted to dance but not alone. Her eyes moved to what Y/n could assume was Marie’s sister with her husband.
Her heart ached at the sight of him rubbing her sore feet as she sipped on alcohol. The man next to her followed her eyeline seeing the scene.
He looked down at her, “It’s bittersweet being here for you too, huh?”
Y/n looked down into her wooden cup then to the man. “Yeah” she nodded “it really is. Our mother will never get off my back about finding a lover now.”
“Our?”
Y/n’s eyes widened, “oh, sorry. I’m Niles' younger sister.” she put her free hand out. “Y/n Dok”
His eyes seemed to gloss over with guilt or relief, she couldn't tell.
He grabbed her hand, shaking it. “Erwin Smith. It’s nice to meet you.”
Y/n let go of his hand, looking him up and down. He wore a matching suit, red and black. His face suddenly had a thoughtful look as he stared off into space. His hand rested in his pockets. His sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
Y/n bumped his shoulder with hers, “are you not much of a party person?”
Erwin looked down at her again with a soft look, “I can’t party too hard tonight. I have an expedition in about 2 days.”
Y/n looked at him shocked, “You’re in the Survey Corps?” Erwin sighed nodding. “That’s amazing!”
Fascination was in her eyes. Erwin couldn’t look out from her eyes, “Really?”
She nodded quickly, “Yes! My brother was going to join it but he met Marie and well… didn’t.” she grabbed his arm pulling him to an empty table.
“You have to tell me about it please.”
They chatted about the pros and cons of it. The amount of people he knew that never came back after expeditions, how he was good friends with Nile in training. About a person named Hanjie and a man named Miche. Both odd in their own way but excellent fighters.
A slightly tipsy Nile walked to the table interrupting the conversion they were having, “Sis, I see you’ve met my friend Erwin!” Nile slapped his friends back a little too hard, causing him to cough the water he was drinking.
“Did you know he was ranked number one in intelligence! Smart man here and yet he’s 30 and can’t pull a single woman!”
Y/n giggled as Erwin glared at Nile as he laughed.
“You do know I chose not to have women if I could die at any moment” he made hand quotes when he said women.
Y/n nodded, “it’s like what you did Nile but more selfless.” Nile smiled
“Yes, Y/n I chose loooooove” he said in a sing-song tone.
Y/n looked at Erwin with a look of get a lode of this guy. Erwin gave her a smile in return.
Niles eyes light up, “Guys… guys… guys…”
“what Nile?” they replied in unison.
Nile suddenly put his hand on his mouth causing the other two to jump in fear and yell at him.
Nile took his weight off Erwin's shoulder, straightening himself out. “I'm fine,'' he mumbled.
Y/n shook her head, “What did you even want Nile?”
His eyes lit up, “OH Marie wanted all the bridesmaids to dance for the artist dude to draw it.”
Y/n’s shoulders dropped, “do I have to wear the itchy sweater?” Both men howled in laughter.
Erwin slapped Nile’s back, “don’t make her wear it, she looked so uncomfortable in the ceremony.”
Nile only laughed harder, nodding his head. “I know it was hilarious!”
“Nile!”
The two siblings began to bicker. Waving their hands around, Erwin laughed at the two. He could see the MT slowly morph into MD on Niles palm and Y/n’s reading out ES.
Wait ES? Erwin thought. He looked down at his own hand, her initials.
“Marie wants her to dance, you said?” Nile nodded, Erwin stood up fixing his vest and buttoning it. He put his exposed wrist with her initials to her.
Y/n looked at the letters, feeling her heart glow. She took his hand and went to the group of women with their dates.
Marie ran up to the two, “Finally, Nile is such a dummy sometimes.” she giggled to herself.
“Anyways, I’m glad you too met!” her eyes traveled to their conjoined hands “On good terms huh?”
Y/n blushed and Erwin smiled nodding his head.
“Okay everyone! It’s a slow dance so everyone got your partners!”
The band started the song as Erwin held onto her waist and Y/n around his neck. She could tell that Erwin knew what he was doing while y/n tripped on his feet.
“You’re not very good at this, are you?” Y/n looked up at him with a flushed face,
“Maybe…” Erwin raised an eyebrow “Okay fine no I’m terrible at it. Never been taught.”
Erwin chuckled, nodding his head, “okay fair. Stand on my feet.”
Y/n lightly put the tips of her feet on his as they start to dance more. They chatted a little bit more about random things, about Y/n childhood without Nile.
“When Nile met Marie you know his soulmate, well our mother kind of got on my butt about meeting mine which isn’t something you can rush.” Erwin was silent listening to her small rant. “I just always feel so pressured on meeting the one. We have a cousin that doesn't have one good you can't even imagine.”
He smirked at her, “good thing you’ve met yours huh?”
Y/n blushed at his words, feeling loved so quickly and fully. She looked into his icy blue eyes, they sparkled in the moonlight. His pupils wide and taking in as much as his brain could of her. Y/n still stood on his feet as they slowly swayed in the moonlight. Erwin's face slowly leaned into Y/n’s, his warm breath landing on her forehead.
Y/n closed her eyes, she first felt Erwin's nose touch her cheek then his cool lips on hers. The kiss felt like it lasted forever, the worries of the world fading away.
Sadly a drunk Nile slapped Erwin's back smiling making their teeth clink together. Y/n stepped off Erwin's feet running at her brother yelling, “God damn it Nile! This is why no one likes you drunk!”
The two started to slap each other's faces, poking each other's eyes and grabbing each other's ears. Soon both Erwin and Maire pulled them apart and sobering up Nile.

Welcome Distraction

SLAM.
Nile Dok is frustrated. He’s lonely, he’s exhausted, and quite frankly, he hasn’t gotten laid in months. His job is about the only thing in his life that hasn’t been frustrating lately—even the Scouts have been quiet for weeks—and yet he slams his office door shut behind him and drops into his cushy desk chair, head landing in his hands.
He wraps his fist around an ink pen, tapping it against the desk to a steady rhythm that he hopes will calm him. If one more person asks him for one more thing today, he swears—
Three quick knocks rap at the wooden door. Nile grits his teeth. Maybe if he stays quiet, he thinks, they won’t know he’s here and they’ll go away.
The knocking starts again. “Commander Dok, sir? I know you’re in there.”
He recognizes your voice; you’re one of the young aides that have recently been promoted to his personal staff. Of course you would wait until now to bother him for something, when all he really wants is to be left alone.
He smashes the pen down, cracking the cap, and groans. “What is it?” he huffs, voice laden heavily with annoyance. The door clicks open and as he looks up, dropping his bony chin into his hand, you step halfway inside and salute.
“Commander,” you repeat. Awfully formal for this late in the day, but hearing his title recited so dutifully makes Nile sit a little taller for once.
“I said, what is it?”
You drop your salute, instead placing your hands behind your back and leaning against the heavy wooden door, pushing it until it latches. After rocking back and forth on your toes a few times, you ask, “Is everything all right, sir?”
He can’t help but sigh again. Does he want to talk about it? Not really, but these days, he can’t count many close friends, and maybe it would help to get some of his frustrations off his chest. When you don’t move from your position, he waves restlessly at you. “Relax, soldier. It’s almost after hours anyway.”
Your tone slips into something more casual. At least you can take an order. “You’ve seemed on edge all day, sir. I was just wondering if there was anything I could do for you.”
The earnestness in your eyes wears him down, and he motions for you to sit.
Instead of overstuffed armchairs, Nile opted instead of a tufted chaise lounge on the opposite side of his desk. You perch yourself directly in the center of it. If anyone were to join you, they’d be forced to sit right against your hip.
He leans on his elbows, preparing himself for the task of unloading his burdens on you. “It’s nothing work related. My personal life is a bit of a mess. Not sure you want me to get into it.”
You slide forward on the chaise. “Is it your family?”
He can’t help but smirk at how eager you are. Hell, he could get used to this. “In short, yes—”
“Your wife?”
“Ex-wife.” It’s incredible how your eyes go wide as soon as he says it.
If you had asked him a year ago, he would have guessed he would die in the line of duty before he’d get divorced. But after months of fighting and giving each other the cold shoulder, Marie finally admitted that her doubts about him had grown—doubts that had been there since the very start of their relationship. That had been the worst blow of all. Now he’s pushing forty and single again for the first time in twenty years.
You find your voice again. “Oh, I’m so sorry. You must be—”
“Heartbroken?” he finishes for you. “Stressed? Completely and utterly drained? Yes, all of it.” He realizes he’s taking this out on you, but he’s never had the chance to vent about it out loud before. He’s been spending every night alone, drinking and moping in the one-bedroom apartment he’s renting in the city. At least he gets to see his daughters every other weekend.
Reading the discomfort on your face, he backtracks, softening a bit. “But you don’t have to be sorry about it.”
“Still, I wish there was something I could do.”
Nile drums his fingertips against his desk, appraising you. You’re smart, alert, a good listener who takes orders well. You’re young, a few years out of training but still fresh and ambitious. You’ve probably been alive for about as long as he’s been—was—married. And you’re not bad to look at, he can admit. If he’s being truly honest, any female attention is nice right about now, but if it has to be anyone, he’s glad it’s you.
“It’s not you, it’s me,” was Marie’s song and dance of choice; he wouldn’t be so resentful if only she’d sung it years ago, before they had kids and stretched into middle age. The amount of nights he’s spent sleeplessly since it came out were too many to count, his thoughts consumed by the idea that he was always his wife’s second choice. She only married him because that pretty boy Smith joined the Scouting Regiment. He’d always known it, and she finally proved him right. He harbors no illusions that Smith would change his tune and settle down in the bed he used to share with Marie just because she’s available again, but just the thought stings like shrapnel to the face.
Rising from the chaise, you tut as you move around behind Nile’s chair. Your hands drop to his shoulders, and without warning, you start kneading circles to the back of his neck with your thumbs. It takes all of his self control not to moan at your touch as you dig into the knots in his shoulders caused by constant tension. He settles for slow, heavy exhales through his nose as his muscles relax under your hands, somehow both strong and gentle at the same time.
The longer you massage his shoulders, the more he melts into his chair, arms slumping and head bobbing from side to side so you can press into the nape of his neck. Your hands feel amazing against the sliver of bare skin between his collar and his hair; just being touched in general feels amazing. It’s the only reason he’s allowing this to go further when it really shouldn’t.
It’s why he doesn’t push you away when you lean down, putting your lips close to his ear, and whisper, “Why don’t you let me take your mind off it for a while?” His entire body shivers, and he lets out an embarrassing groan that makes him glad you shut the door. You, young and lithe and beautiful, want to fool around with him? It’s too good to be true.
He can hardly believe you don’t slap him when he turns his head and kisses you on the mouth. But when you pull away, you’re smiling. He clears his throat. “It would be a welcome distraction.”
You laugh, low and seductive, as you curl your fingers under the cords of his bolo. He gulps in anticipation as he lets you pull him from his chair, chin lifted as you hold him up by his tie. He stands at an average height, something he’s always been self-conscious about, especially when standing next to that blonde giant Smith, but right now, it puts him in the perfect position for you to reach with your mouth. Your lips kiss softly over his exposed neck at first, making him gasp and shiver, but slowly you add more pressure, sucking harder so the blood vessels pop and reddish-purple bruises bloom over the delicate skin. He’ll have a hell of a time hiding them tomorrow, but right now, he doesn’t care.
Nile can hardly keep his eyes open as you nibble at his neck, and it takes a few moments before he notices that you’re walking backwards around his desk and his feet are following you. You don’t even have to tell him what to do; his body answers every call from yours, pliant and submissive as you release his tie and push him down onto the velvet chaise and climb into his lap.
He feels your hands on his face, pulling his jaw toward you as your lips find his. He remembers his own hands, lifting them up to paw at your shoulders, your neck, your hair. Your tongue tangles with his, the wet, telltale sounds of open-mouthed kissing reverberating around the room. You hum into each motion, tongue rolling over his sloppily, and he likes it, he loves it, feeling your saliva in the corners of his mouth and the heat of your exhales in the back of his throat. He groans as you bite his bottom lip, his stomach tensing at the pleasure in the pain.
Underneath you, he pants helplessly as you explore his mouth. He shifts down to lie down flat, his feet sticking off the end of the chaise, but it doesn’t matter. It’s better than the floor, and he doesn’t have enough sense in his head to take you against the wall or his desk. Rather than logistics, Nile is more focused on how embarrassingly hard he is already and how you can almost certainly feel it through his straining pants. He doesn’t even know if you want to go any farther, suspects you don’t because why would you—
You grind your hips against his, pressing your crotch against his own, and Nile moans loudly into your mouth. He desperately wishes the door was locked but has no wherewithal to stop you from touching him to get up and turn the deadbolt. He tries to keep quiet, to muffle his pathetic mewling against your lips, and hopes that it’ll be enough.
His hands drop to your hips, not guiding you but following your motions as you glide back and forth over his bulge. For a moment, with his eyes closed, he thinks of Marie; you’re roughly her height, and you feel like she did when she was 18, 19, 20, before they were married and childbearing changed her body in confusing and intoxicating ways. He missed her, missed how she tasted and smelled when she was pressed against him like this, fucking without a care, but he snaps back to reality when you reach for his belt buckle. He isn’t with Marie. He’s with you, and it’s good enough.
You release his mouth to pull back, to fiddle with his uniform’s buckles and zippers while he gasps for breath. He takes the opportunity to shrug off his jacket and unbutton his shirt while you wrestle off the ODM gear that he’s wearing for no reason, really. He hisses, feeling dizzy as you pull his pants down to his thighs, freeing his stiff cock against his lower stomach. You crawl over him on all fours, your ass pushed up in the air. He gets tunnel vision, everything distorted like he’s going to pass out, until your tongue touches the tip of his weeping cock.
Swirling your tongue around the head, you pull desperate moans from his throat that Nile has to bite his fist to dampen. He hasn’t had his cock sucked in so long, he almost forgot how mind-numbing it feels to be wrapped in someone’s mouth. Your ass tilts higher yet as you take more of him down your throat, his thighs twitching uncontrollably from the pleasure of your tongue dragging on his shaft. He hopes you’re not disappointed when he reaches the back of your throat, hopes you’re at least somewhat satisfied by your commander’s cock when you swallow around him.
Your head bobs up and down, coating him with your saliva as his eyes roll back into his skull. Bearings lost, Nile can’t stop from bucking his hips, meeting you in the middle so you gag around his cock. He whines pathetically as he loses himself in the moment, consumed with the thought of spilling down your throat while you swallow him whole. He feels the orgasm coming in the heat on his face, the twisting in his gut, the tightness in his balls. “I’m close—”
His warning is wasted as you take one final slurp before dropping him out of your mouth. Nile chokes on his own spit as his climax slips away, groaning and sputtering, “Please, no. Please don’t stop. I—”
When you climb off the chaise, he almost sobs despite the fact he knew this was coming. It had all been a cruel joke, he thinks, something you can hold over him the next time you want a day off. He should have known it was too good to be true; then you’re pulling off your top and kicking off your boots along with your pants, and his lungs fill with air again.
You lick your lips, looking down at him with desire in your eyes. “Where do you want me, Commander?”
Nile moans at the sound of his title on your lips, something you’ve said a thousand times before but never like that. But that’s right, he thinks, he is your commander. You could have gone to the one of the other branches—you could have gone to the Scouts with that damned Smith—but you chose to become an MP when you earned the right to. You chose him.
“Anywhere. I don’t care.”
He can barely think with the ghost of his ruined orgasm lingering in the air, but you help him strip down, his clothes landing in a pile with yours. He pulls you in with desperate hands as you lower yourself back onto him, clutching you closer as he helplessly dry humps against your legs. He can’t let you go again, not after what happened before. He aches for you, needs to feel you, needs you so badly that he’s not above begging for it.
His nails dig into your hips as he grinds against you, shamefully needy as you hover above him. “Please, please, baby. I need you so bad. Please, I want you to ride me.” He’s an absolute mess, dribbling precum at the thought of filling you with his cock, of feeling the embrace of a warm body around him after so, so many nights alone.
He accepts you hungrily when you lean down to kiss him again, your slick folds dragging over his throbbing shaft as you move. You swirl your hips over him, and he’s not sure if you’re prepping him or yourself, but it feels like righteousness and sin all at once. He’s so hard it hurts, his legs twitching under yours, ankles knocking against your feet over the edge of the chaise. You pull back just far enough to mumble against his lips, “Whatever you want, Commander.”
Nile whines as you line yourself up and inch down onto his cock, pulling out only to sink down further with each shallow thrust from above him. When you finally bottom out, you sit tall in his lap, back arched as you moan for him. His head thrashes at the sound, unable to handle the tension curling in his stomach at the sight of you on top of him, breasts bouncing as you start to grind down on his hips.
“Yes, oh god, yes,” he pants, squirming under you because you feel too good, too divine. Fuck, his hand is never going to be enough again, not after this. He can’t keep himself quiet, grunting and sobbing as he begins to thrust up into your soaking cunt.
“Desperate for me?” you taunt, reaching back behind your ass to toy with his balls. When he cries out in euphoria, you chuckle. “Such a needy little bitch.”
He thrusts harder, sharper, the insult going right to his cock, getting him off because you’re right. “I am,” he pants. “I’m a little bitch.” He can feel himself throbbing inside you, ready to spill at any moment. He’s not going to last.
You bring your hand to his face, pushing aside his sweaty bangs that are plastered to his forehead before kissing him again. When you lean forward, he palms one of your breasts, desperate to touch you, afraid he’ll never get another chance. He pounds into you as your lips lock together, and when you bring your hand down to caress your cheek, he snaps, releasing inside you before he knows what’s happening.
His chest heaves as he grinds out his high, pressing his thumb to your clit in tight little circles. He’d be mortified if you didn’t finish, but thankfully, you crumble and shake not long after, signaling your own climax before collapsing on top of him, your face buried in his chest.
Nile’s hands roam over your back as you both catch your breath, soothing over your soft, misty skin. He wants you to stay on top of him forever, wants to feel the weight of another person holding him down for as long as he possibly can before he’s alone again.
“That was...” he hums against the top of your head. “I really needed that. Thank you.”
Lifting your face from his chest, you plant your chin between his collarbones, drawing little circles dangerously close to his nipple with your pointer finger. You smile sleepily, exhausted but blissed out, and he hopes, satisfied. “I’ll be your distraction anytime.”

Sacrifice
Welcome to chapter 1/10 of my first multi-chapter eruri fanfic! This fic started as a 3 chapter idea about how Erwin Smith’s romantic encounters had affected his decisions that led him to become Commander, and that quickly morphed into the thing I am now writing which explores the above, and then has 6 chapters about his relationship with Levi. I make no apologies for it. <3
I hope you enjoy reading it. The entire thing is essentially finished bar editing so it’ll be updated fairly rapidly and regularly. Eventually I’ll put it into Ao3 but someone (that is, me) didn’t realise that it’s still in beta right now, so until I get my invite through, I’ll just post it here.
Thanks to everyone in the eruri fandom here for inspiring me to write this.
***
Chapter One – Marie
“Why have you brought us here?” Nile grumbled as he slumped down onto a polished wooden stool with frayed stitching on the cushion. He was looking accusingly in Mike’s direction.
“Because I want a drink,” Mike replied, taking his own seat next to me behind a small, bare circular table. “And no one here is going to know us so we won’t be bothered.”
“You don’t think the uniform is a bit of a give-away though?” I asked playfully, thumbing the collar of my jacket. Though a glance around the tavern made it clear he was right; there was not another military uniform in sight and the other patrons seemed to be enjoying quiet conversations together, not interested in much else.
Mike shook his head as I turned back to face him.
“The uniform will attract the right kind of attention,” he explained. “The feminine kind of attention-“ He paused and added a shrug. “-or the whatever kind of attention.”
“Oh. strategic attention? I see,” I chuckled. “Well if you can actually get us a drink I’ll take that sort of attention.”
“Nile, why don’t you give it a try?” Mike challenged with a smirk, swivelling his head round to face him instead of me. Goading Nile was one of Mike’s favourite pastimes. And Nile always fell for it. Every time.
“Just because I’m not hoarding charisma in my facial hair like you are, you think I don’t stand a chance?” Nile scowled, a slight flush to the tips of his ears. “Though some luck we’ll have in cadet jackets – either with the drink or the romance. Even if half the barmaids in this city are barely older than us.”
“Just tell them we’re joining the survey corps,” said Mike. “Girls love the tragedy of it.”
“Maybe the kind of girls you like,” Nile rolled his eyes exaggeratedly. “What a cheap way to get what you want.”
“If it was a lie I’d agree,” I said, frowning. “But it is the truth, only presented at the right moment.”
“See Nile? Erwin gets it.”
“I didn’t say I approve of it,” I added quickly.
“Even if you did I wouldn’t take that as an endorsement,” Nile retorted. I looked away uncomfortably, the subject of my reputation amongst the cadets was not one I enjoyed discussing, and my friends so loved to tease me about it anyway.
“Fair point,” Mike nodded and eyed me for a moment in his quiet way of his. “Just out of curiosity Erwin – and I’m not saying that you have – but if you had to cheat on a test, would you do it?”
“You can’t ask me such a broad question as that,” I replied, unsure how to answer without sounding far too serious for the situation. “I mean consider all the external factors that might influence that decision an-“
“-Hypothetically,” Mike insisted.
“For the wall’s sake Mike, leave him alone,” Nile interjected with an irritable growl. “What the hell good would it even do Erwin to cheat on tests? First of all he’s already pathetically smart-“
“-Thanks Nile-”
“-Secondly he’s trying to join the Survey Corps,” Nile continued, ignoring me. “People usually cheat on tests to avoid them. All you need to do to get into the Survey Corps is show up able to swing the blades around a bit, they’re so desperate.” He tapped the table with his knuckles and started to look around to his left, trying to flag down a barmaid. “Let’s get a drink before we kill each other.”
“Finally a sensible suggestion,” I agreed.
“Evening soldiers,” said a voice to my right. “What can I get for you?”
I looked up to see a young woman there, standing over us, arms crossed over her chest. Her hair was long, with the fringe falling over the top of bored eyes, and there was no smile on her mouth; serving us with beer was clearly not her interest. It made me wonder what was. There was a depth in her eyes that I found instantly interesting. I wanted to know who she was, where she was from, what she liked. It was a few seconds into my burningly curious thoughts before I realised I was staring at her. I abruptly looked away, towards Nile, whose own head had whipped round and he too was staring. Unlike me, he had not yet stopped.
“Three beers, thanks” Mike responded and I saw his fingers literally crossed under the table, his smile completely confident and relaxed, almost a smirk.
“I’m going to join the Survey Corps!” Nile blurted out in a sudden splutter of words rushing after one another to get out of his mouth. We both stared at him. Mike did a completely appalling job of hiding his amusement behind his hand.
“Oh, uh,” the woman said slowly, clearly completely taken back by the outburst. She too stared at him now. Then her nose gave a little twitch and she begun to laugh, a smile breaking across her features.
“Nile is very brave, Miss,” I said, taking pity on my friend as he sank down in his seat as if he wished he could just get under the table and hide until she went away.
“Well I bet you are – Nile,” she said once she’d stopped laughing. “Don’t think your bravery gets you a discount though because it doesn’t. You still have to pay the full amount just like everyone else.”
“N-no!” Nile managed to say. “I wouldn’t dream of it! Of course!”
“I’m Marie. What are your friend’s names then?” she asked him, the smile now staying put.
“Uh,” replied Nile, looking like he’d forgotten, so I answered for him.
“I’m Erwin, and this is Mike,” I said pleasantly. “We’re all going to join the Survey Corps.”
“Nice to meet you all,” Marie nodded at each of us and I marvelled at how her demeanour had changed once we started talking to her. I suspected that she was used to being spoken to at best like some kind of tray that existed to deliver alcohol. Now, quite unlike before, she was expressive and looking upon her was easy to do – far too easy. A glance at Nile said that he felt the same but there was a touch of something different in his eyes, a feeling I didn’t think was quite one that I was feeling, something quiet but heated. Marie was looking back at Nile in exactly the same way, her eyes exclusively on him.
“So,” she continued with a wry quality to her smile. “If you’re all going outside the walls to fight does that mean you’re all equally brave or all equally foolish? Either way I think I’d better get you your drinks. I’ll be back soon.”
“Yes, th…thanks!” Nile stammered, watching her as she walked away.
“Nile you’re about as subtle as a titan to the face,” Mike said.
“Get lost Mike. Marie didn’t seem to think so.”
“I agree,” I confessed. “She looked quite taken with him actually.”
“Oh don’t encourage him,” Mike sniffed at me. “He’s already big-headed enough without pulling the barmaid on his first go.”
“Hey bastard!” Nile glared. “It was not my first go, or my first success.”
“Nile the only thing you’ve ever pulled before is a door open, a chair out and your di-“ Mike retorted but was cut off by Nile kicking him under the table, hard enough that Mike grunted. Nile’s eyes were so full of sulky fury that I couldn’t help chuckling at him, which only served to make him wheel round and point the expression at me as well.
“Oh screw you both!” he fumed. “I’m going to ask her out.” He stomped off before either Mike or I could say anything more.
“Poor woman,” Mike grinned, then he looked at me with a more serious expression. “If you like her too Erwin you should go for it, don’t let Nile get in your way. You’d be doing her a favour.” I shook my head.
“I won’t deny she’s intriguing,” I replied, choosing my words very carefully to explain properly my dilemma. “But I only just met her – I don’t know her – and I’m not about to start wooing a civilian two months off joining the Survey Corps. Besides which, I think she really does seem interested in Nile. He can have quite a bumbling sort of charm about him.” I nodded in the direction of the pair across the room, just visible through the crowds. Nile was rubbing the back of his neck and Marie had her hands clasped in front of her. They were both smiling brightly. The very antithesis of mutual attraction.
“Hm, it better not delay us getting our drinks,” Mike sighed and rested his head on his hand, looking at me through his floppy fringe with a wistful expression. “I just thought…I’ve never really seen you look that interested in anybody before. I thought you’d at least want to give it a try. It’s not like you have to marry the woman, just have some fun, while we still can?”
“I’m fine,” I assured with a smile, staying patient despite feeling that Mike had completely missed the point. “It’s not really me.”
Nile fell back into his seat at that moment, a grin running from one side of his face to the other like a rail track, and it was no surprise when he told us that Marie had said yes. She was soon a frequent addition to our nights out, so it was equally no surprise that at the Scouting Legion recruitment rally Nile - the friend who had been at my side since the day his family had taken me into their care - shot me a look of unadulterated guilt and walked away, towards a life with Marie and the Military Police.

SUMMARY | Sina Academy of Excellence and Inquiry is the best boarding school in all of England, producing over time leaders of Nations and outstanding personalities in society as well as being the perfect environment for your child to flourish in, spending his time with specially trained staff to support his need and wonderful, well behaved peers like him. We only have two rules: don't go in the woods and do not try to go through locked doors.
From the statement above one would have assumed that Sina was the perfect school and that the rules that were imposed were just for their children's safety, but as Levi joins the school at the beginning of his senior year, he uncovers a secret so putrid and morbid that will leave him scared for life. That is...if he manages to make it out alive.
Chapter song: God rest ye merry gentleman - Pentatonix (slowed & reverb)
December 21st, 1995 Yule Festival
If you asked Erwin Smith what his plans were for the celebration of Yule, as he always remained on campus over the holidays, he would have told you that he were to be found cozying up on the lilac couch by the fire, basking in the heat emanated by the hearth, and enjoying one of those contemporary novels meant for mass consumption and reading the evening away in the dorms of the Boethiah house. Later, if he felt up to it, he would trek happily across the dark vaulted corridors of the academy to the bathing rooms and relax into one of the immense thermae alone, sans the forever present havoc caused by the agglomeration of teenage boys during early school mornings. What he would not have answered was: his girlfriend was to be killed tonight by no one other than him. Sweet Marie will meet her end tonight, scarlet and thick blood gushing out of her freshly sliced neck.
Flicking his wrist, slightly pulling back his navy blue Tudor coat, Erwin checked the time. It was 22:59. If he were to meet Marie in the next minute, then he wouldn’t have to worry about getting to the crypts on time, but he could always improvise - the campus being almost abandoned at this time of night with no students lurking around - and kill Marie right in their meeting spot, in front of all the security cameras and the dining hall’s high arched and trellised windows slowly breaking each of her limbs, while the poor creature tries to crawl herself out of the situation, blood curling screams sounding into the night, while finally being abruptly cut off by Erwin twisting her neck. But no, he had to be careful, his father would take care of the security cameras but if there would have been prying ears and eyes in the dining hall, then he wouldn’t have gotten away so easily. It was a dark, dull, and soundless night with clouds hanging so oppressively low in the sky, they produced thick white fog that snaked its way between the alleyways and immense gothic buildings. One street lamp was the only thing that lighted the small plaza in front of the four adjacent dorm rooms, its golden light resting on Erwin’s figure, revealing the soft blonde hair, determined and ruthless sapphire eyes, strong jawline, and tall, well built body. He was dressed casually, wearing his most comfortable clothes: jeans and a plain white t-shirt. He was supposed to be spending the evening with Marie up in his dorm room, enjoying some cheesy and petty romcom broadcasted on the TV, and more formal wear would disrupt the cozy atmosphere that would supposedly settle between them, that and blood would be a bitch to get out of them.
Huffing in frustration, Erwin checked the time again: 23:05. If Marie didn’t show up then it would have all been for nothing. However, just as he was making up his mind to go after her, the girl exited her dorm room and with a wide grin, spreading from cheek to cheek on her sweet face, ran into Erwin’s arms. He snorted and greeted her.
“Hello sweet lover, I was beginning to worry you wouldn’t show up tonight.”
“I’m terribly sorry, dear Erwin, but I might have had a change of mind regarding the outfit I was to wear tonight.” Marie chuckled as she let him go, settling back down on her feet. In the golden light, the girl was beautiful, her long blonde hair sitting comfortably on her dainty shoulders, her eyes shining almost green as blue mixed with yellow from the light, her cheekbones were high, just like his, and her lips rosy red. Erwin almost regretted having to kill her, but it was for the sake of everyone around him. It was his duty as head boy, as a son, and as a student to steal this girl’s life. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her plush like lips and with a smile, grabbed her hand and began leading her into the direction of his dorm. His dorm was a just across the plaza in front of her own building. So with long hurried steps across the grass, they reached the entrance. All of the buildings were linked together in a square.
“Where’s the rush Erwin? Are you really so excited by our casual night in?” Chuckled Marie and hurried her pace to match his.
“Certainly,” answered Erwin, not even paying attention to her.
“The hallways are unusually quiet, so is the campus. Don’t you think it’s strange dear, that not even the staff seem to be present?” Continued Marie.
“Well, it’s almost Christmas, it suppose it would be kind of sad if they were to be hanging around campus instead of enjoying their time with their families. After all, they’re humans, just like me and you.” Erwin tried to answer her question, growing more annoyed by the second.
Finally they reached his room, and like the gentleman he was opened the door for his girlfriend, letting her in. It was the first time that Marie entered his room, so with a bit of excitement the girl started wandering through it, stopping to admire the little trinkets he had placed randomly around his room, like the telescope that was facing his window, or various maps that laid, carefully rolled and tied with black string. Erwin lingered behind the door and scanned his room looking for his weapon: a wooden baseball bat, scratched, chipped and stained red, that happen to be positioned right in the left corner of the room, closest to the door. He went and picked it up, gently trailing his fingertips over the rough surface. Giving it a few experimental swings, he called out to Marie as he was slowly approaching her.
“Like what you see, Marie?”
“Indeed, you have a lot of interesting things lying around here, but I can’t help but wonder if you would be so kind as to turn on the light.” She chuckled and slightly bent down to examine the telescope.
“It’s not necessary for what’s to come.” Erwin replied, and with a smile approached the girl in hurried steps, building momentum.
“Erwin?” Marie slowly tried to turn around as she was startled by his reply. “What’s that supposed to me-“ She tried asking, but before she could finish her sentence, the bat collided with her skull, breaking it to a million pieces. With a loud thud, the cadaver collapsed to the floor. Erwin sighed, it required so much work to kill somebody: drawing the victim in, killing it, carrying the body, and getting rid of it. He would have to talk with his father about getting a payment or some kind of reward out of it.
Rubbing away some of his sweat from his forehead, Erwin bent down and grabbed the body, throwing it over his shoulder, wincing slightly as the weight collapsed onto him. Satisfied, Erwin made his way out of the dorm room and into the darkness of the hallway, his whistling the only thing perturbing the eerie silence that settled over the school as if in mourning of their newly lost peer.
-
Twilight enveloped the academy. Combinations of blue, lavender, and light pink reflected off the Chapel’s pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and sipping in through the stained glass windows that adjourned each side of the building as Erwin made his way out and down the vibrant green lawn,  his footsteps levelling the grass where he stepped and the lifeless cadaver still slumped over his shoulder. It had served his purpose and it was now time to get rid of it. Quickening his pace, he headed to the woods right behind the Chapel. This was his least favourite part of his job. The forest was dense and light could barely pass through the crowns and branches of the trees. Nevertheless, the trees were lanky, twisted in unnatural ways with branches sharp like knives. The bark was a dark brown, with a coarse texture, which could scratch and cut if the individual touching it was not being careful. However, what unnerved Erwin gravely was not only the eerie darkness that seemed to swallow the forest but also the absence of fauna in it. Sighing deeply, he proceeded to walk into the forest.
Erwin could have sworn the greenwood was like a warm hole. Every time he went through it, time seemed to stop, the existence of anything beside the forest seemed to be erased, leaving him wandering through the gloomy sea of trees, desperate for an escape. After what seemed like an eternity, Erwin started to notice the outline of hundreds of newly dug out graves, each with a big pile of freshly turnt earth, especially made so that bodies like this could be dumped in easily and covered just as easily. The sight helped him ease his nerves a little bit. Unconsciously, he quickened his pace. This was the first sign that he was close to the graveyard. He soon found himself at the edge of the forest once more.
Not wasting anymore time, Erwin walked to the edge of the cemetery, at the farthest of graves he hoisted the corpse up and tossed it lackadaisically into its final resting place. With a frustrated sigh, he picked up the spade and started to dump the soil over it. The corpse looked nothing like Marie anymore, her clothes, once spotless and emanating the sweetest of scents, were now covered in blood, and her skin, once a beautiful olive yellow was now waxy white, every drop of blood squeezed out of her right through the wide open wound on her neck. The soil got stuck in her hair, painting the blonde brown, in her eyes, filling the glassy stare with bits of gravel and dirt, slowly covering and erasing every evidence of her existence. With one final flick of spade, Erwin managed to cover up the body completely. Breathing heavily from the exertion, and dumping one crimson red rose on the grave, he opened his mouth and voiced his last words to her.
“Merry Christmas and Happy Yule, may you rest in peace, Marie.”

AU Smartpass My First Time Around: Nile Dok

Note: This story was published on March 23, 2017 (x).
Most of the cadets at that time were lively and innocent.
It was many years before the Colossal Titan smashed the wall at Shigansina district. The society within the wall still had their own jobs, despite being somewhat oppressed. Among them, the people who aimed to become soldiers and undergo the hardship of soldier’s training had their own personal dream.
There were those who wanted to secure their status within the wall, those who wanted to live a stable life, and those who had thoughts of an unseen world outside the wall.
“Look… there is an inconsistency in the records. That’s why for sure, I think there are some people who lived outside the wall…”
“The usual delusions again?”
Nile laughed while listening to his fellow cadet, Erwin, who talked about his dream whenever he had the chance.
Erwin always talked about the outside wall and the truth of the world.
“Theoretically speaking, it is odd that nothing about outside the walls is left in the records. Traces should have remained somewhere and even if the records are lost, word of mouth should have still remained…”
It sounded absurd, but there was a point there. Even since then, Erwin might have been blessed with the talent of speech to attract people.
“That’s why Erwin wants to join the Survey Corps.”
“Even though he is brilliant, he is weird. Isn’t he?”
“But, if such an excellent guy like Erwin joins the Survey Corps, he might make a breakthrough discovery.”
Those cadets who didn’t know the horror of the titans, were attracted by Erwin’s words, and some his fellow cadets, who aspire to join the Survey Corps just like him, started to appear.
“You never get bored of talking about your delusions, do you?”
“Nile, one day I will show you that my hypothesis is true!”
“Don’t die before that…”
“If Nile and Erwin are joining the Survey Corps, I will also...”
And then, Nile was also drawn to that dream. At one point in time, he had the aspiration to join the Survey Corps.
Time flew.
When Nile grew a bit older, he became close with a woman, who was around same age as him and worked at a tavern. Erwin and other fellow cadets knew about the woman, and it became a rumor everywhere.
“I heard things are going well...with Marie. I heard from the regulars at the tavern the other day.”
“Yeah, sort of… what a gossip-loving bunch...”
It was during one evening during night-watch training that he was coincidentally alone with Erwin. Nile guessed that Erwin had special feelings toward his sweetheart, but since man-of-action Erwin made no move toward her, he felt that there was nothing to discuss at that time.
“Guys, I heard that Nile wants to join the Military Police. The reason is because he won’t be able to guarantee his own life if he joins the Survey Corps. Plus... we can tell just from watching his training, he puts extra effort in it.”
The night sky and the torch flames were reflected in Erwin’s blue eyes. Black and red, the colors flickered. His face was shadowed and his expression couldn’t be read easily.
“Erwin...I will say it to you first....”
The young Nile, who already decided in his heart and wanted to convey it at that moment no matter what, opened his mouth slowly.
“I want… to have a family.”
Erwin looked like he was going to laugh at that moment.
Before long, when they were asked to choose their military department, Nile joined the Military Police just like what he had decided. Erwin and other fellow cadets who were attracted to his dream joined the Survey Corps. They had complicated toward him, but they gave their blessings.
---
“Do you despise me for being a traitor?”
One day, he bumped into Erwin after the salutation was over. He took the initiative and raised his hand toward the Survey Corps soldier.
“Everyone sincerely respects you, you know. Because from that moment on, you worked hard and obtained the right to join the Military Police.”
“I didn’t work hard for humanity. I work hard for one woman only. It was an unthinkable move for a soldier who publicly announced that he offers up his heart.”
Erwin shook his head while looking away with a self-deprecating look in his eye.
“In that case...I am the same as you”
“What did you say?”
Erwin’s dream was originally for his own personal interest, but it was surprising for that dream to be interpreted as for the sake of humanity by others .
It was like he was shocked by his own words. He shook his head and turned his back.
“Please forget it...”
Nile who turned his back from the dreams of young soldiers and chose to have a family as an adult.
The reason he started to say that was so he could still answer to his fellow cadets, those who had been continuously chasing their dream since younger days.

Day 4: Anniversary Pairing: NaiMari (Nile x Marie)
The most, undeniably proven-canon pairing in SnK. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t many fanarts, maybe not that many fans too (I know loads who prefer her with Erwin instead...)...but I look up to this pairing. For some reason, it’s one of my relationship goals. I’d imagine Nile and Marie are the sort to spend their wedding anniversary strolling in the park with ice creams in their hands, sitting at a scenic place and singing old school love songs to each other and simply cuddling in each other’s warmth reminiscing their silly little lives. My imagination for this couple is so sweet; it’ll give you toothaches.

Home (Reader x Erwin Smith)
Attack on titan one shot / short story
Characters: Erwin Smith, Reader, Nile Dok, Levi Ackerman Pairing: Reader x Erwin Smith Rating: M for MMMM (sex, swearing etc)  I actually rewrote this, I wasn’t happy with it, now its longer too…
You had alway wanted to be in the survey corps ever since you were a younger girl, you had gone to see them off from expeditions and cheered them on. You had seen your parents argue with your older brother, telling him not to go, to settle down in the Military Police, stay alive and have children, grow old and never have to face the world outside the walls, which to them meant certain death. You on the other hand were determined to join ever since you were small. You watched your older brother go through training, work hard and become part of the Military Police. You were slightly disappointed, but only a few months later, he brought home a beautiful young woman, declaring his love and announcing their engagement. You were shocked. But happy for him, finally you understood why he didn’t go into the Survey Corps.
On the other hand, you knew your brother, watched his best friend go into the Corps. The two of them were inseparable for most of their lives, but when you watched your mother ask about him over dinner… all he could do was sigh, and announce he had sentenced himself to death. You were 16 at the time, your heart broke, you thought that your brothers best friend was going to die.
That being said… your brother was Nile…
His best friend was Erwin Smith.
A few years past, you had started training yourself for what was to come, deciding to join the Corps, behind your families back. You had seen Erwin, at Niles wedding, he had looked to you at one point and smiled, remembering seeing you many times before when you would come drag Nile home from the pub. You admired Erwin, you thought he was strong and wise. When he joined the Survey Corps you admired him even more. You had dreamt of working along side him in the Corps for too long. You knew it was time.
One night at dinner you sat with your parents, with your brother, wife and his two children. “I’m going to sign up… I want to go to the Survey Corps” You blurted out, everyone stared at you. Nile put down his glass and crossed his arms, leaning back. “[Y\N] don’t be stupid” he sighed “You can go to the Military Police and that’s it I won’t let you go and get yourself killed”
“Who said I was going to die?” You muttered “I won’t die” “[Y\N] you shouldn’t go” Marie said, she was calmer than your brother and she gave you a smile. “It will worry your brother too much, and me. Maybe you should come work with me”
“But… I have dreamt of joining the Survey Corps ever since I was small! I have to go, I can’t sit back and watch while other men and women are fighting for our freedom” you whined. Marie looked to her brother and muttered something, holding his hand tightly. Your parent sat there shocked, your mother tearing up, she was worried for you, your dad on the other hand was proud he had such a strong daughter. “You can’t join” Nile whined “No, [Y\N] I won’t allow it” He looked to Marie again “I can’t loose you too”
“What do you even mean!” You snapped “who have you lost!” “My best friend!” “Erwin Smith isn’t dead…” you groaned out, rolling your eyes. “Let’s stop talking about this now” Marie smiled. “It will all be okay” This was the last time you would speak about it with anyone, as the very next day you went off… you had already signed up and tomorrow you started training.
You didn’t lie to yourself, it was tough, you wanted to cry, but this was going to make you stronger. You were going to succeed. You were going to the Survey Corps. You were among others who wished to be stronger, however for the most part, they were all heading to the police, or the garrison. Hardly anyone you had met was dreaming of going to the Survey Corps. But that didn’t bother you. You were proud of yourself.
You had excellent results, hardly ever being under the top 3 recruits. You caught the eye of a lot of the others, you were known to be a fighter. Yet no one knew your surname was Dok. No one would’ve guessed your brother was in the Military Police, apart from Shadis, who used it against you, to toughen you up more.
You were in the top in the recruits, at the graduation, you stood proudly in front of your superiors. Your brother was there, watching you, hoping you would make the ‘right’ decision and join the Military Police alongside him so you would hardly see danger. You would be behind the walls, safe and sound. That wasn’t for you.
You looked at the other 9 standing to your right, they all would sign up for the Military Police, how many men and women did they need to work for them? Wasn’t there enough?
You were going to the Survey Corps. If Nile liked it or not.
And you went.
You were at the Survey Corps headquarters the very next day. You had been part of the 102nd training corps. And you were ready to fight.
You found yourself settling in with the other members of the Corps. Hanji, Petra, Mike… all of them took you in, being the youngest member of the Corps now. They saw you as their little sister almost. You felt welcomed here, they knew who your brother was, but they respected you for being strong, for joining. This was your family now…
However it wasn’t long before Nile would turn up, to get you out of there… He came through the mess hall, looking around for you. You sat there, waiting for him to spot you, he stormed over, he looked angry as all hell. You looked straight in his eyes as he finally reached you.
“[Y/N] you are coming with me right now!” he shouted, everyone looked around at you, you felt your cheeks go red. You were embarrassed, you felt ashamed. “NOW!” You felt your hand being pulled up by your brother and he dragged you along with him, he was heading straight for Erwin’s office.
He barged through the door, Erwin looked up from his paper work and he looked shocked, you stood behind your brother, your head dropped, hair covering your face, you were angry, but you couldn’t express it, not in front of Erwin Smith. “Erwin!” “Nile, I wasn’t expecting you” he sat there, calm. “What’s the problem?” “I can’t allow you to have [Y/N] here any longer, transfer her now” Nile demanded. “Erwin!” “I can’t transfer her, not without her permission” Erwin responded “[Y/N] is that what you want?”
Of course you shook your head, tears forming at your eyes
“I can’t do anything then” Erwin sighed “I’m sorry Nile”
“Erwin. You are my friend, we trained together. Surely you know I can’t let you take my sister outside of these walls for her to be titan food!” His voice was getting louder, angrier. You had never seen Nile like this before. “I won’t allow it!”
“Will you excuse us for a moment [Y/N]? I need to speak with your brother alone” Erwin looked to you and you nodded, turning away and fleeing the scene.
“What happened?” Hanji was standing there, she had obviously come up to see Erwin. Holding a bunch of papers. “[Y/N]?” “I…. I…” You couldn’t speak. Your mouth was quivering under all the pressure “my brother is here…” “Nile? Why?” “He.. he’s trying to get me transferred…” Hanji looked shocked, she sighed, pushing her glasses back into position. “I don’t want to…” “He is being a brother eh!” Hanji laughed slightly “Don’t worry, without your permission he can’t do anything.. You can stay here with us, I will take you under my wing” “Tch..” You heard a voice from the shadows “don’t let him decide your fate for you. Nile is a stubborn cruel bastard” it was Mike, standing waiting around too.
You could hear Nile shouting at Erwin, who was clearly keeping his cool about the whole situation, however you knew that, Nile couldn’t change your fate.
In those moments, Hanji patted you on the shoulder, knowing her ramblings would not be heard by Erwin tonight, followed by Mikr, they left. Leaving you outside Erwin’s office alone. It must of been an hour before the door opened again “[Y/N] get in here” Nile said. You walked in, your head again bowed in shame. You stood in front of Erwin, next to your brother “We have come to an agreement” “You can be part of the Survey corps however, you can not leave on missions”
You looked up, that was the whole point of being part of the Corps, so that you could go on missions outside of the wall… “But…” you tried to start to explain your side, but Nile stopped you, “I’m doing this for you” He snapped “I won’t see you get eaten!” “You wouldn’t see me be eaten… you’re too busy behind the walls”  You muttered, but they heard you. Erwin looked at you, his eyes wanting to show signs of amusement, but he controlled himself. Nile looked shocked. “What!” “You heard me…” You looked up at him, your hair flowing back, revealing your face “You wouldn’t see it happen… because you are too busy behind the goddamn walls!” Erwin stood there shocked, he hadn’t seen you since the wedding, and he noticed how much you had grown, you had become a woman since he last saw you, you were a beauty. He admired you for your courage, but you were doing this out of rage… in your mind you were terrified of what Nile would do next. “You will not leave the headquarters. That is final. Erwin if I hear of her leaving these walls… I swear..” “You have my word” Erwin said. Nile stared at you. You looked up at him “Don’t you dare go against me again [Y/N]” He turned around and left. You stood there for a moment and looked at Erwin, thinking that this would be the last time in a long time that he would come near you.
You turned on your heels and started to power walk towards the door
“[Y/N]….” Erwin said but you didn’t respond, you were too ashamed of yourself.
For the next 8 months you watched the squad come and go, some of them never returning, but you were there, to support them, you sat with them, round the fire talking about dreams and hopes. You knew one day you would join them on a mission, but for now, Mike was giving you masses of work and cleaning. You didn’t mind it, Mike was a leader among the squad, and he did enjoy your company for the most part, mainly because you were a strong character, he also wanted you to go on missions, he wanted to see your skill out on the field.
But you still got to train with everyone. That bit didn’t change. Throughout all of that, you were a brilliant recruit, the others always asked why you never were involved with expeditions…
You were done after the first 8 months. You were sick of this, you were done with the chores, watching people leave and never come back. Erwin hadn’t approached you and you knew why, it was because of your brother, your cruel brother who for some reason thought you were under him in every way and that he could control you… that wasn’t the case. Instead you waited till the last minute to go to Erwin, you stormed towards his office, wearing your full uniform, showing you were ready.
You knocked on his door. “Come in” you heard his voice, it was calm… soothing. You opened the door and quickly closed it. He looked up, his eyebrow raised a little, he wasn’t expecting you to turn up at his office. “What’s the problem?” He asked. He put down the paperwork he was looking at, giving all of his attention to you. “I want to go on the expeditions…” you said, your voice stern and calm. “Please, I can’t just watch you all going into battle and I am here, like a child waiting for you all to return!” You sighed “It kills me, that you all go out, I can’t even try to protect or help anyone back here” “[Y/N]…” Erwin sighed “Nile asked me to..” “I am not Niles toy! I am not him!” You suddenly blurted, Erwin looked shocked, he stood up and moved around to the front of his desk, leaning against it. “I may be his sister but it is not up to him where I go or what I do” “I understand that, but me and your brother are good friends… I have to respect his wishes” “He left you to join the corps alone, what has he ever done for you?”
Erwin looked at you, your words hit him, you were right, what had Nile done for him? Nothing… He had trained with him, drank with him, left him for Marie and the Military police. He hadn’t done anything for him. “I guess you are right” he said “I’m sorry [Y/N] I didn’t want to ever insult you through what your brother has said” You nodded slightly “But you know [Y/N] that you are so young, compared to us old men you are a baby”
“But I can’t just sit here…” You whined a little. “I understand, you can come out for one… if you do well, then maybe I will think about making you a permanent member”
“thank you … squad leader” you saluted and left, feeling proud of yourself. You could of skipped down the corridors with happiness. You finally made it onto the squad.
But Erwin felt awful about it. Mainly because he just realised he had opened the bird cages door.
You would soon be one of the highest ranking in the corps, in the space of a year, you had 50 kills under your belt, you had helped Hanji with her research, you had worked with mike and his own personal squad. You were one of the top squad members. And Nile didn’t have a clue what was happening. He thought you were still staying behind, cleaning out the horse stables and sorting through paperwork.
After the last expedition, you sat round the fireside, everyone had left, leaving you alone to think about the past year, how much you had achieved, what you had done. Finally seeing the titans and outside the walls. You felt free at last, and you were fighting towards something bigger. You looked up to the stars and stretched. You were happy here, even though death was so close to you every time you rode out through those gates, here you felt at home, you had fulfilled your dream of becoming a member of the Survey Corps.
“You know, sometimes I wonder where you found your courage” You heard a voice, it was him, it was Erwin Smith. “[Y/N] You are… one powerful soldier” “Thanks… I guess” I looked down at the flames dancing their final hour of life “I just wanted to help”
“Help? You are brilliant out there, you have saved so many of our comrades lives just by killing one or two titans” he smiled. You looked at him, acknowledging his compliment. “May I ask, why did you join the Survey Corps… surely none of your family wanted you to” “No.. they didn’t” You laughed slightly, thinking of your brothers face when you told him “Nile hated it, well you knew that anyway squad leader” He nodded, a slight smile reaching his lips. “I wanted to fight, for humanity, for the innocent people in this city, behind our walls..” “I see..” “I wanted to fight for a future, that is my dream… I don’t ask for much” He looked at you, his eyes shining from the fire light “You know, I watched the survey corps, ever since I was a little girl, I admired their bravery, their wing of freedom… everything about them.. I knew I had to join them when I was old enough. Even if it kills me, I want to live for myself now.” You sighed, looking into the fire “Yes, this will probably kill me one day, one day I will find myself in the hands of a titan and I will be done, but until then I will fight, for those children who need a chance in this world” Erwin smiled, he saw a lot of himself in you, the same ideas, the same dreams. Everything
“You know” he said “I said the same thing, when I joined” he smiled “I am sure Nile would be proud of you, if he knew” “For now, it’s best he doesn’t. He wanted me to live a life like him, in the Military Police, get married and live my life till I am old” “Would you?” “No… not until I felt like this world was free..” “Hmm” “He found Marie, he found something he wanted to fight for..” “Marie..” Erwin looked into the flames “Sorry…” you said, remembering that Erwin was too, in love with your sister-in-law. “I didn’t mean to..” “You know, I chose titans over her, I was a fool but I had that dream too, I wanted to fight, I wanted to know more about the titans and where they came from, if what my father said was right, plus… now I think back. I made the right choice” he said sighing “Imagine if I had died, I would’ve left her with nothing, I couldn’t put anyone through that pain, I don’t know when I will die, none of us do, but that’s why I couldn’t” “But sometimes” You looked to the stars “If you have someone in your heart, in your mind, you will fight harder for that someone, because you know they will be waiting for you to come home… it gives us hope, that one day we could live a peaceful free life with that person” You tilted your head a little, looking to him. “A dream…” “I guess so… I haven’t had a feeling like that in a long time, not since Marie… but lately I have found myself, wanting to fight harder” “Hm?” You looked to him “I have someone I need to protect, someone I can return home to, who is by my side, through battle” He looked at you “Erwin…” “[Y/N]…” he cupped your face, scooting closer to you. He pressed his lips ever so gently against yours. His hands holding your face so gently as if you were a piece of diamond. He had been wanting to kiss you, hold you ever since you had stood up for yourself, your courage, beauty and strength was beautiful to you, and he loved it.
He stood up and offered you his hand, taking it you were pulled up from the log you had been sitting on with him. “Come with me” he whispered in your ear, you nodded, without even questioning where he wanted to take you. You were in love with Erwin Smith, you always had been. Sometimes you believed you were only here to protect him from danger. He led you to his room, sneaking through the barrack corridors, not to wake Mike, Hanji and Eld whose rooms were on the same corridor. He closed the door behind you both, pressing you up against it, his hands engulfing you, bringing you in close, kissing you.
At that moment your heart went into overdrive. You felt it burning in your chest and you were excited. He pulled you in kissing you, his tongue invading your mouth, dominating the kissing pace. He wanted you, it could of been for a long time too, he seemed desperate for you at this moment. His hands couldn’t find a place to stay as they frantically searched for a home. You pulled off your jacket, followed by his… clothes hit the floor. You admired Erwin, he was beautiful. His scars, his face, his body. Everything about him was what you imagined. He pulled you close to him and just embraced you as the two of you fell to the bed. You were on top of him, he tucked your hair behind your ears, pulling you in for a kiss. For the first time in a long time you felt like the world was finally home, as you laid there, on top of Erwin Smith the squad leader of the Survey Corps. You felt a sense of belonging. You had found a home here in the squad, you were helping the cause for humanity… and now in the arms of a man you had admired for years. You traced down his abs, to his throbbing member, you took it in your hand, licking the tip, he laid there, watching you, his eyes not losing contact with you. You took his whole member in your mouth, hitting the back of your throat. But you didn’t care, you wanted to satisfy him, you wanted to make him happy. Make him feel like he belonged somewhere too… Because you were both lost souls.          And you had found each other in this hopeless world. He moaned a little, bringing your mind back into the room, you were bobbing on his large member and he was losing control slightly as you held onto his thighs, he wanted to thrust more into your mouth, he wanted to dominate everything about you tonight. He needed a release, he needed to rid himself of this sexual tension, because he wasn’t going to admit it, he wanted to fuck you for a long time. In fact it was one of the reasons he kept you behind on the expeditions. You pulled up from his member and looked at his shining eyes. He was looking at you in such a loving way in which you had never seen before. After all of the expeditions, the one person who worried you was always Erwin, always… You dreaded losing him. You hated that. It was a nightmare… not without telling him how much you loved him. He turned the positions round, you were laying on your back with Erwin between your legs, his tongue flicked at your clit and it sent a shockwave through your body. Your body was sensitive, every touch made you react, and he was playing with that, tracing the lines of your abs, where it was a little ticklish. As his other hand was pressing down at your clit now, sending the nerves into shock. His fingers then rubbed between your folds to the entrance of your core, you felt his fingers getting closer and closer and your breathing got heavier. He was teasing you, keeping you submissive to him, making him dominant in this scenario.
“S… squad leader please” you begged, before you felt two of his fingers slide into your wetness. He started to finger fuck you gently, before he started to pound his fingers in and out of you. You started to moan more and more, begging for a release from this. But he wasn’t going to let you have it too easily. He grabbed one of your breasts and pawed at it, while his other hand was busy fucking you, you looked down to see his throbbing member. Licking your lips at the idea of what was soon to come. He pulled out his fingers and kneeled in between your legs, he dragged you closer, using your waist, until your legs were wrapped around him and his member was pressed up against you. He rubbed his tip between your folds, teasing you. You let out a moan of need for him to fill you. But he wasn’t letting you… he wanted you to beg. You looked up at him, your eyes shining in the candlelight, he continued to rub his tip between your folds, now and then letting the tip inside of you, before pulling it back out. “Squa…squad leader please I can’t….” you whined “Please…..fuc…” before you could finish whining and begging for him, his member slammed into you at such a force you felt like you were going to be torn apart. He held onto your hips and thrusted rapidly into you, making your whole body jiggle with the motions. You let out a loud moan which brought music to his ears. He flipped you over onto your stomach “Get on your hands and knees soldier” he commanded and you did as he asked. You could see why he was so dominant now at work, he was the same in the bedroom but you loved it. You loved how he wanted to be forceful because that was the man you loved… admired and fought for.
He slapped your butt, before pushing himself in again, starting to fuck you from behind, one hand on your waist, the other went round to your clit, rubbing against it frantically, making it numb to the touch, making your stance weak as it made your body tingle so much you could of collapsed in the spot, you were coming close to your climax, but it seemed Erwin wasn’t ready for that just yet. He slapped your butt, pulled your hair and pawed at your breasts, all while fucking you at a powerful and fast pace. You felt skin against skin and the only noises that could be heard was the sound of skin hitting skin and the loud breathing and moaning from the two of you. Erwins moans brought music to your ears. You loved hearing him like this and you needed more from him. You however wanted a little more fun, you pushed forward, his member sliding out of you, turning round he looked shocked, you had broken his command and he looked mad. You pushed him down onto his back and straddled him. You wanted him to go deeper inside of you, you wanted him completely, you wanted him to cum inside of you and fill you with everything he had and you were not going to stop until you had what you wanted. You reached down and glided his throbbing wet beast back inside of you. And you were going to fuck him slowly. Passionalty Because why should Erwin do all the hard work… when he was the driving force for so many of us?
He laid back and watched, amazed by your work, you rocked your body on him, letting his member do its magic inside of you, moving gently up and down on him, he held onto your breasts, pawing them, reaching up sometimes to suck on your nipples with his mouth, licking around the bud and flicking them. He let out a load moan as you started to speed up a little, as your body till was tingling and numb. But he started to buck his hips, driving his member deep inside of you. You couldn’t move much anymore, your body was so tense from your increased orgasm you could’ve collapsed right there. He could feel you were coming close, so he again took control. He pinned you down and teased you, riding out your orgasm, making it last even longer which drove your body crazy, it was already so tense you didn’t know how long you could last… or if you could even stand up anymore after this. His member pressed against your folds rubbing against you, you let out a loud moan as he pushed himself in, his thrusts getting faster and faster as you arched your back in complete pleasure. “Erwin I…. I” you couldn’t even speak anymore but you suddenly felt him tense up, you looked at him, he was about to cum too. You pulled his head down and kissed him as he released his hot juice into you, riding out his orgasm, he didn’t want it to stop, he wanted you to feel all of him inside of you, he wanted more. He rested on his forearms, on top of you, slowly thrusting back and forth, slowing into a grind, his member still releasing his juice into you as you laid there, your core tensing around his wet member. You looked into his eyes and smiled, he kissed you so passionately you thought it was it, this was where you belonged. You laid there, wrapped in his arms, your head pressed up against his chest. Listening to his heart beat. You were both alive in the moment, finding each other in such a dark dark world.
Months past, more recruits came through. Out of the 103rd training squad, only 5 remained alive through the following year. You and Erwin watched as your friends rode to their deaths on expeditions, secretly watching out for each other out on the fields, keeping each other alive. You were still assigned to Levi’s squad however, so you were still distant from him. But every night you returned to him, to his chambers. To his loving arms where you felt so safe with him. He loved you with all of his heart.
But it was time to tell Nile. He couldn’t be left in the dark forever, him and Erwin were friends after all. Erwin invited him for dinner at the headquarters. You sat next to Erwin, his hand gently placed on your thigh. Nile sitting opposite the two of you.
“So what’s the occasion?” Nile asked looking at the two of you
“I wanted to tell you something” said Erwin, tightening his grip on your thigh “I, am in love with [Y/N]” “What?” He nearly choked on his drink “Erwin what?!” He looked at the two of us “You can’t be serious” “It started last year after the last expedition we went on…” “We went on?!” He looked at me in the eyes “you went outside the walls?!” “I…” You couldn’t say anything, your hand slipped down and held onto his. “I love him Nile” “No, you can’t love him, he is a walking death trap!” Nile snapped “are you a fool [Y/N]?”
“Don’t call her that” Erwin said “we fight for each other” “I can’t believe you let her outside of the walls! You selfish fucking prick!” Nile snapped, you looked to Erwin, who remained calm throughout. “You broke your word Erwin!” “I thought about all the times you broke your word with me…” Erwin sighed “I know you want to protect her, but I want to protect her too, and I can since I am here with her on the front lines” “You can’t protect her!” he shouted “You bastard.. If you dare lay a finger on her…”
You giggled a little, thinking about what you had done in the morning, his large body towering over you, making love to you. “What!” Nile looked to you “What are you laughing at!” “It’s…. A little late for that” I muttered.
But before you knew it Nile’s hard fist was against Erwin’s face, Erwin didn’t fight back, he took it, he let go off my hand, making sure I wouldn’t of been hurt. Nile made his way round the table and grabbed Erwin by the collar. “STOP!” You shouted “PLEASE NILE!” You cried out, trying to grab your brother “Get off [Y/N]!” He held Erwin up “how dare you!” He screamed in Erwin’s face, but Erwin just looked at you, his eyes watering slightly but he wasn’t standing down, but wasn’t fighting back either. You just cried, hitting your brother in the back “You first let her outside the wall and now you are fucking her!” “Stop it Nile! Please!” you cried, Nile let go off Erwin and grabbed you “Please no… it hurts” he had you by the wrists, he pulled you towards the door and pushed you out, you fell to the floor and he slammed the door shut, locking it behind him.
You banged on the door screaming, no one could hear you though, You could hear Erwin’s grunts as he was punched and kicked on the floor. You kept banging until your hands were raw, bleeding and in pain, but it didn’t matter, you kept banging, you got up and started to kick at the door. Putting in all of your strength into getting into that room.
But before you could Nile opened the door. “You won’t leave this city again, nor will you be with him” You looked at him, then looked past, to see Erwin on the floor. Blood trickling from his mouth “What did you do…?” You asked Nile, but as you looked at him, he was gone. He had walked away, that cruel bastard of a brother.
You ran to Erwin, who laid there, you kneeled by him. He looked to you, as you cupped his bloody face “I’m sorry…” You muttered “I tried” You started to try and clean his face, but he grabbed your hand, holding it by the wrist. “Don’t…” He said. “Go…” he said, closing his eyes, “Erwin.. I can’t jus..” “GO! Get out!” he shouted with the remaining energy he had. You looked at him as he let go of your wrist, letting his hand drop down onto the floor again. You stood up, tears in your eyes. You ran out, covering your face.
Erwin laid there, tears flowing from his eyes. What had he done…
You laid in bed for the next few days, not wanting to see anyone or the light of day, you just laid there, dreaming of the times he would be there, cuddling you into the late hours of the afternoon. But he wasn’t there anymore, in fact he was avoiding you… but why?
We were like the trees, even if you break their branches, they grow back, their leaves fall from their homes but they grow back, a tree grows old but is still beautiful, it comes against the rain and hardest of winds… but stands strong, to show its beauty to the world.
But you had to appear soon enough, there was an expedition happening soon, you were expected to join, as Levi needed you by his side on the mission ahead. You didn’t want to leave the room though. You sat there for a moment thinking about everything. You wanted… no you needed to speak to Erwin.
You got up, and dressed for the first time in days. Your hair was greasy, but you didn’t care. You had eye bags were heavy under your eyes. But you didn’t care about it. You didn’t care how you looked, or how you felt, you cared about him, you lived on for him, without Erwin what was your purpose anymore?
You walked, with your cloak hood up, covering your face from anyone who passed you, you had one place you were headed to, and you were not going to top for anyone. You saw Levi, who tried to stop you, but you walked straight past him, Hanji letting out a little laugh as she realised Levi was being undermined by you. You continued to walk towards his room. But when you got there, your heart stopped. You didn’t know what to say.
You felt your body ache, your heart was throbbing in pain, you didn’t know how to deal with this mess, and as per usual it was all done by your brother who was ‘in his best interest’ protecting you.
In reality, he was making your life a miserable mess of events.
If anyone could of protected you it would of been Erwin, but that wasn’t what Nile thought, Erwin was only a squad leader, no one THAT important in his eyes.
You stood there, looking at the wooden floor outside his door, tears welling up in your eyes, your body tense. You just wanted it to be like it use to be and nothing else but that wasn’t going to happen without you knocking.
    But then the door opened.
“[Y/N]…” “Erwin…” You said, looking up into his beautiful eyes “I…” “What do you want?” he said, his voice cold “I… I wanted to talk?” “There’s nothing for me to say to you..” He responded “You should be training, we leave tomorrow” “Erwin…” You stood there, in shock, why was he being like this with you “please…” “You should be reporting to Levi, not me” “Erwin…” all you could say was his name, as your hands reached out for him, he shoved you away,
“Go. I’m busy” He closed the door again, you fell to your knees in tears “I love you” you muttered, placing your hand against the door “I love you so much…”
You didn’t know, that behind the door, Erwin was doing the same, his heart was aching, he longed to hold you, he hated seeing you like this, in this state of being. He hated lying to you but if he didn’t, Nile was going to get him in huge shit with the higher ups, for breaking laws, which he didn’t even know he had broken. He couldn’t do that, he couldn’t lose sight of his dream not when he was so close to becoming commander of the Survey Corps, he was sure of it. Even Mike had hinted at it.
But Erwin longed for you, he missed you… he wanted you in his arms.
“Get up” You heard Levi “[Y/N] get up”
“Levi….” You looked to him, your eyes red from crying… how long had you been sitting there for? You didn’t even know, but your knees were numb, your eyes stung from crying. “Get up [Y/N] don’t be like this” “I’m sorry squad leader…” You mumbled. “I am really sorry” “Lets go…” He guided me out.
Erwin appeared again from his room, where he saw a wet patch outside his door… where your tears had hit the floor. It broke his heart just a little bit more. He stood by the window, watching you, your body was weak, he noticed how little effort you were putting into training, but maybe it was because you were tired. It didn’t take long before training was over, Erwin left the barracks to find you lying asleep outside, at the log you first kissed. He stood over you, watching you sleep peacefully, Levi had worn you out, to the point where you fell asleep before dinner.
He picked you up gently, like you were his bride, carrying you to your bedroom. He tucked you in, placing a kiss on your cold dry lips
“I’m sorry” he whispered, before he turned and left, of course you had no idea that had happened.
The next day was the day which would change the history of humanity. You didn’t know that, nor would you ever know that. Levi assigned you to work alongside Mike, meaning you were with him, Erwin and Eld. You were riding with them, outside of the walls… your eyes only looking ahead, seeing his blonde hair in front of you…
“Erwin we have to go through the forest, now!” Mike shouted to him, the four of your turned into the woods, here you could attack titans easier, having trees to attached to.
As you rode in, Erwin spotted a titan, signalling the group you all switched to your 3DMG, flying high into the trees, apart from Erwin didn’t, his equipment wasn’t working properly, as he stopped his horse, the titan got closer and closer
“ERWIN!” Screamed Mike. Your instincts took over. As you saw Moses grabbed by the titan, his arm falling from his mouth. You jumped down “[Y/N] what are you doing!” Eld cried out “NO!” You didn’t listen to him, you got onto your horse, running at the titan, Mike flying down, grabbing Erwin, just before the titan grabbed him, Erwin, who didn’t notice you galloping off, in fact he didn’t hear Eld cry out your name either… Erwin stood in the trees, fixing his 3DMG, while you were heading straight at the titan. You turned quickly, distracting him, the titan chasing you as you rode as if it was your last mission.
But then your horse bucked… because there was a titan in front of you… Your last breath you cried out for him, you felt the titans teeth break your lower half apart, your last image, was him… flying towards you.
That was the day Wall Maria fell, Erwin never really got a moment to grieve for you, his life became too hectic, but he never really forgot about you, every morning, every evening he thought of you, heard your voice in his mind, thinking you were really there.
Erwin heart broke a little more when he was told, by Nile himself, that his threat was an empty one.. “I did it to test you, to test if you really loved her… it seems titans are the only thing in your heart, You let her die, you let her die and now you’re the commander of the Survey Corps! How could you be so cruel! You would’ve died that day if it wasn’t for her dedication and love for you!” he screamed at Erwin  “She loved you before she was even in the Corps! You selfish bastard!”
Erwin never forgave himself…
You were in his mind till his last moments… When he closed his eyes for the final time he heard your voice, saw your smile
“Your home…”
Word count: 6959 (see why i called it a short story…)
I have an alternative ending… if anyone wants to read it let me know~

Ok so, as I was scrolling through the amazing @drinkyourfuckingmilk‘s tumblr, I realised that Erwin’s story is quite similar to a certain AARON BURR’s. It was her comics involving Marie and Nile that made me come to this conclusion and prompted me to obsess over this idea of an AOT x Hamilton cross over. Hell, I’ve even edited the lyrics to the song that made me realise the similarities between the two characters 😂  Erwin: Marie Dok writes me a letter every day. I'm keeping her at peace while her husband is away. He's on the safe side of Wall Rose. He's tryin' to keep the colonies in line. He can keep all of Wall Rose. Marie Dok, she's mine. Love doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints, it takes and it takes and it takes and we keep loving anyway. We laugh and we cry and we break and we make our mistakes. And if there's a reason I'm still by her side when so many have tried then I'm willing to wait for it. I'm willing to wait for it. My beloved father was a primary school teacher. And there were things he said that didn’t sit well with the preacher.
My father was a genius The Survey Corps left him for dead.                                                     When he died, he left no instructions.                                                             Just a legacy to protect.
Death doesn't discriminate Between the sinners and the saints, it takes and it takes and it takes and we keep living anyway. We rise and we fall and we break and we make our mistakes. And if there's a reason I'm still alive when everyone who loves me has died I'm willing to wait for it. I'm willing to wait for it. Wait for it. I am the one thing in life I can control I am inimitable I am an original I'm not falling behind or running late I'm not standing still, I am lying in wait Levi’s team faces an endless uphill climb They have something to prove They have nothing to lose
Their pace is relentless They wastes no time
What is it like in their shoes? The Titans don't hesitate. They exhibit no restraint. They take and they take and they take and they keep winning anyway. They change the game. They play and they raise the stakes. And if there's a reason They seem to thrive when so few survive, then God dammit I'm willing to wait for it. I'm willing to wait for it... Life doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints it takes and it takes and it takes We rise. We fall And if there's a reason I'm still alive When so many others have died, then I'm willin' to- Life doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints it takes and it takes and it takes and we keep living anyway, we rise and we fall and we break and we make our mistakes and if there's a reason I'm still alive when so many have died, then I'm willing' to- Wait for it... Wait for it... Wait for it... This is honestly just something that I did because I was bored asf and found a connection between the two xD Hope you guys enjoy it anyway :p
