“Robb will rule, you will serve. Men will call you a crow. Him they'll call Your Grace. Singers will praise every little thing he does, while your greatest deeds all go unsung." - ACOK
“Jon is the only brother that remains to me. Should I die without issue, I want him to succeed me as King in the North. I had hoped you would support my choice” - ASOS

i watched the show before i read the books and jon's actions when he joined the nights watch made so much more sense when i found out he was 14 in the books. like ofc a 14 year old would be a brat about their sword skills, start shit with the teacher and then adopt the only kid newer and less liked than himself. everything he did immediately became funnier it was like stumbling across gold.

i love how jon joins the nights watch because he thinks that’s what he deserves. jon so obviously wanted to be a knight. he was obsessed with the songs of knighthood and gallantry but he isn’t a true born son. he isn’t brandon stark who has people encouraging him and feeding into his fantasy of being a knight. so he joins the watch and fucking hates it.
jon joins the bastard version of knighthood, the nights watch. he takes the same oaths he would’ve taken as a member of the kingsguard chastity, protect the realm, protect the innocent but instead of having songs sung about you and having a legacy to leave behind you sit on a cold wall and wait till you die.
this just makes me think if he had a little more self confidence and self worth he wouldn’t have gone to the wall and he could’ve helped robb win the war.

I haven't posted in a while, but lately I haven't much time for drawing. So I stole my Targaryen Prince Jon from my previous fanart and dressed him up in his canon look 😅 So here is…
Jon Snow, the Bastard of Winterfell ⚔️ 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.

Who do you ship Jon Snow with? ❤️

A moment from the book where Sam might have killed them all in the great ranging. In his fear he sent the ravens without messages.
"I don't care if you're so scared you foul your breeches, and I don't care if a thousand wildlings are coming over the walls howling for your blood, you get those birds off, or I swear I'll hunt you through all seven hells and make you damn sorry that you didn't." -Jeor Mormont

actually i want to talk about the jon snow-julius caesar parallels more. at the end of the day both are stories about institutions. both are characters who politick within increasingly rotting institutions (the nights watch and the roman republic), who implement much needed reforms within the systems but whose reforms threaten the very foundation of the system itself (jon interferes in northern politics while the nights watch is supposed to take no part, and caesar increasingly erodes the supposedly democratic institutions of the republic for increasingly authoritarian and monarchical aims) and are betrayed by those they thought allies and friends in the hope that through their assassination the institution itself is saved. but it doesnt work. in caesar's case the death of the dictator was the death of the roman empire: despite the immediate cause of the fall being caesar himself, brutus and the conspirators' daggers and the mob's outcry dealt the killing blow. we dont know how the fallout of jon's assassination will go, but its not going to be as simple as melisandre coming over and reviving him. the fallout may be the death of the watch itself, and maybe the replacement of the old rotting institution with something new.

westeros is so fucking funny. you commit a crime okay so here’s your options get your hand cut off or any other appendage the persecutor sees fit or go to the comically large wall made of ice and spend your days with a bunch of smelly incels and boys with mommy and/or daddy issues.
take my left hand please. no way i’m about to spend eternity larping with these fucking emos. fighting imaginary fucking goblins and ghouls. yeah right.
they got 14 year olds there that went to the wall because they committed a minor crime to help their family and then literal fucking domestic terrorists. wild. utterly wild. and they then are forced to become besties.

"That come from Hardin's Tower, m'lord," Horse reported. He might have said more, but the scream cut him off. Val, was Jon's first thought. But that was no woman's scream. That is a man in mortal agony. He broke into a run. Horse and Rory raced after him. "Is it wights?" asked Rory. Jon wondered. Could his corpses have escaped their chains? The screaming had stopped by the time they came to Hardin's Tower, but Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun was still roaring. The giant was dangling a bloody corpse by one leg, the same way Arya used to dangle her doll when she was small, swinging it like a morningstar when menaced by vegetables. -ADWD, Jon XIII
At the time of Jon's stabbing, the setting is basically a mimicry of the time of his birth at the Tower of Joy.
A northern "princess" in a tower guarded by a ferocious figure with Val guarded in Hardin's Tower by Wun Wun as opposed to Lyanna in tower of joy guarded by Kingsguard
There is a baby boy inside with her ostensibly of royal blood using a false identity (Craster's son posing as the son of the King-beyond-the-Wall)
The "princess" is betrothed to a knight she does not want to marry when she has affections for a certain Targaryen prince (who happens to be the son of Rhaegar)
There is a confrontation between a man who has come to take her and her guard
A battle ensues outside involving a man of Stark blood
This scene could indicate that Jon is about to undergo rebirth.
