Nigel. After he recounts the rowboat thing he says "And the horse. When we made you french kiss the horse".

Which - well, assault might not be the entirely correct word. But it's definitely an act of sexualized violence/humiliation.

This is, to my understanding, a well-documented pattern of behavior in environments like this. When people are locked somewhere together where they can't escape each other, have communal bathrooms and bedrooms, and are encouraged to enforce a strict pecking order, the resulting peer-to-peer violence often includes a sexualized element. Especially when said people are children who haven't fully developed social skills and empathy yet, especially once puberty hits (which, since Stede left/finished at 15, happened during his boarding school days). And just like with "regular" bullying, children who are perceived as weak, socially inept, or gender non-conforming (or all 3 in Stede's case) are most vulnerable to fall victim to that.

It's not a huge stretch of the imagination to believe other things in that direction were done to him as well, though that's obviously veering off into headcanon territory. I personally think it's implied as strongly as it can be in a fun little romcom; there's no reason to disbelieve Nigel, and there's no reason to believe the horse or the rowboat were singular incidents. Of course Nigel isn't gonna bring up things that can't be laughed away as "hilarious pranks" between boys, even by an a-grade assface like him.

And it fits in with the general impression a lot of people (including me) have of Stede and his problems - his hangups about his own body, the likeliness that he never had a positive sexual experience. It's an interpretation that's heavily text-based, in my opinion, though again, a lot of it is never actually said. So. Think of that what you will.

But anyway, yes, Stede textually suffered at least some degree of sexualized violence in his childhood, which is sadly not uncommon.

On the freezing morning of March 25 1306, Robert the Bruce was crowned King of Scots at Scone where a circlet of gold was raised and placed upon his head.

He was crowned in the presence of at least three bishops and four earls with the coronation, which followed the murder of John Comyn, Bruce’s main rival to the throne, a formal and solemn affair.

The King was draped in “kingly robes and vestments” which had been hidden away by Robert Wishart, the Bishop of Glasgow, until “this longed for day”, according to Ronald McNair Scott in his book Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland.

“(They) were brought out by the old man and set upon King Robert, and a circlet of gold was placed upon his head while the great banner of the kings of Scotland with its lion and scarlet lillies, that had lain so long concealed, was planted behind his throne,” the author wrote.

The Bishops of Moray and St Andrews were also in attendance as well as the Earls of Atholl, Lennox, Menteith and Mar. Absent, however, was the Earl of Fife, who held the hereditary right to crown the kings of Scotland.

Still a youth and held in England as a ward of court in 1306, he unable to attend the coronation and perform his hereditary duties. But his sister, 19-year-old Isabella MacDuff, the Countess of Buchan, went against the will of her husband - a loyal supporter of Edward I and close kinsman of the murdered John Comyn - by taking up the hugely symbolic role during the coronation.

“To her the call of Scotland and her youthful hero-worship of Bruce proved greater than her wifely duty,” Scott wrote.

“Seizing her husband’s finest horses, she rode with the upmost speed to Scone to act on her brother’s behalf” he added.

Isabella arrived a day too late but but King Robert took part in a second coronation ceremony, 48 hours after the first,so that the ancient tradition may be preserved.

“The golden circlet was lifted once more and placed upon the brow of Robert Bruce, Earl of Carrick, Lord of Annandale, King of Scots.”

Following the coronation, Edward I sent soldiers into Scotland to hunt down the new king. Robert fled and, as the manhunt continued across Scotland, the King’s brother - Nigel de Brus - and other supporters were discovered.

They were taken to Berwick-Upon-Tweed where the men were judicially condemned, hanged, drawn and beheaded.

Along with other members of the family including King Robert's wife, Elizabeth, Isabella was captured and sent to the Borders town. There, she was confined to a cage that was hung from a tower at Berwick Castle as a warning to others. She remained in the cage for four years, according to accounts.

You were immediately different from the get go. Compared to the many extroverted women that Valtteri had both dated and encountered throughout his career, you were an introvert. You knew how to be civil, how to talk to strangers but you much preferred more intimate situations where conversations can be a lot more personal and meaningful. There was a lot of back and forth and it was clear the two of you were waiting for either person to make the first move. Tiffany was quite enjoying sitting on the sidelines as the two of you would privately message her with updates about the conversation or how to ask the other one out. It was honestly quite sickeningly cute really. 

You felt your phone buzz as you were getting ready to finally leave your cafe after a long and very busy day. Summer holidays in Australia were absolute mayhem, especially being located at the beach, however there was nothing like the busy period that was the Winter holidays with families hoping to get the last bit of sun at the beach before they went back to their cold hometowns. Half an hour after Nigel disappeared to greet your neighbour he came back, this time with a single rose through his collar and a note. You looked around outside and raised an eyebrow when you saw no Mick. You called Nigel inside, the puppy sitting with his tail wagging as he eagerly waited for you to pat his paws dry. You immediately went for the note, opening it to see some messy scribbling that was only just decipherable.

I found a really interesting F1 Japanese game called SD F-1 Grand Prix that is inspired on the 1995 F1 season with animal characters that are based on real 90s drivers. Anyways, I found it cute so I wanted to share it with you guys.

Every driver's performance based on 4 stats: Speed, Torque, Grip and Weight. The highest rating is 5 and the lowest 0. (Blank = 0)

Speed: Self explanatory that refers to the driver's top speed he can reach in a straight line.

Torque: That shows how fast a driver reaches his top speed.

Grip: Higher grip means you can turn with faster speed without sliding.

Weight: Weight only matters when two drivers hit each other. Drivers with higher weight rating tends to push aside lighter drivers, plus the heavier drivers cause more damage on collision than the lighter one.
