I don't know how it is, but I am so tired of commonplace happiness and commonplace goals.

hey everyone. here's something i'm working on. it's a song based on the book "niels lyhne" which is a somewhat recent favorite of mine.
this is an old song i've brought back and given a lot more life and depth to. it'll be on a forthcoming project. hope you enjoy.

This hunting for yourself, slyly observing your own tracks – in a circle, of course; this pretending to throw yourself into the stream of life and then at the same time sitting and angling for yourself and fishing yourself up in some peculiar disguise!

Among local writers from Thy, none is held in higher regard than Jens Peter Jacobsen, or J.P. Jacobsen as we Danes know him. He was born April 7, 1847 in Thisted, and died a short 38 years later from tuberculosis…
His novels have been translated into many languages, including English (Niels Lyhne is a Penguin Classic title). He was always held in high regard abroad: Freud read him; Arnold Schönberg set him to music. Rilke learned Dansih so he could read him; Joyce and Thomas Mann were admirers of his work. Jacobsen himself was a fine translator, and the first to render Darwin’s titles into Danish.

A woman can't be pure, and isn't supposed to be--how could she? It is against nature! And do you think God made her to be pure? Answer me! --No, and ten thousand times no. Then why this lunacy! Why fling us up to the stars with one hand, when you have to pull us down with the other! Can't you let us walk the earth by your side, one human being with another, and nothing more at all? It is impossible for us to step firmly on the prose of life when you blind us with your poetic will-o'-the-wisps. Let us alone! For God's sake, let us alone!
-Jens Peter Jacobsen, Niels Lyhne.
