@the-last-of-alto-mare Nick@Zipporah: Zipporah sighed, looking at her tiny paper with a name and numbers on it. "Umm, excuse me?" she pat the Greedent's shoulder sheepishly. "I'm sorry for the bother, but. Can you tell me how to break this, weird code?" then show the paper to him.

Nick peeped up at the Latias attempting to garner his attention. Nick looks at the piece of paper reading "Jet" with the numbers.

Nick had a hunch. Things like this have happened in his world. Not so many to him but he's seen trainers exchange numbers like this or flyers with detachable tabs like these with numbers of the sort.

Granted, this was not how phone numbers were formatted in Galar, but Galar isn't the only country in his world. They were bound to be different elsewhere.

"I think I might know what this is...?'' Unsure, Nick reached into the scruff of his tail and pulled an orange device with Rotom-like features, tapped on it twice to make it come to life, slid and tapped a code in, and then, he was interfaced with an app. He carefully punched the numbers into it, tapped on the green button, listened to make sure it actually was ringing, and handed his Rotomphone to Zipporah.

If he inputted it correctly, the number would cause Jet's phone to ring. Provided Jet gave Zipporah the correct number.

While the phone was ringing, if it was ringing, Nick added a comment on top of this.

"Do you have a phone by chance?"

"The bows aren't actually a part of my outfit, I usually have them on me even when not dressing formally, though I've been thinking about putting trackers on them so I can leave one somewhere and find that place again," explained Snow. Snow chuckled when the Cinccino mentioned they are 'Out of their element', "Trust me, I'm not used to formal events like these myself, I just thought it would be a fun thing to do with Nick here since we don't get to hang out often!"

(Nick, to Bijoux) It's fine if you can't drink! I can't drink either! Nor do I want to, but that's another half full bag of gummiwurmples. Er, what are your favorite snacks at the concessions? I don't know who made the double chocolate brookies but they're AMAZING.

Bijoux looked down at the Greedent, eyes curiously scanning over the squirrel. She was quietly impressed at the tux on a more 'standardly-shaped' Pokemon, but that wasn't her focus. She listened to his statements and the question, chuckling and shaking her head.

"It's not that I don't want to drink," she explained casually, "it's more that I just kind of can't yet. I'd at least be interested in trying the stuff once I'm old enough, but I'd probably do that when I was with Mom so we could see how it might affect me, and just to make sure I'm safe the whole time. I'm more just... I dunno, skeptical that it's all everyone at these fancy events seems to make it out to be."

She looked over at the snack table. "Er... the little bruschetta crostinis were really good. And I liked the olive tapenade and the mozzarella-mushroom canapés. I might have to go try one of those 'brookies' now that you mention it... I can't say I have a giant sweet tooth but I do quite love chocolate. At least I can say I had some 'real' food first if Mom asks...

I decided to make dndads pokemon team headcanons

Each character will be limited to 3 max (exceptions pending)

Daryll:

Greedent - Looks just like him, Matt said so himself. Calls it Grant. It gets confusing.

Meowth (Galar) - Scruffy just like Daryll. Evolves into Perrserker, fitting Daryll's barbarian class. Named it Aragorn on a whim and wouldn't change it even when people told him it doesn't fit.

Kangaskhan - Loving, protective parent. Inherited from Frank as the baby of his own Kangaskhan now grown up. Named it after his grandmother, Sally.

Henry:

Cradily - No brainer. Best of both interests (nature and geology). Named it Lily. Simple, sweet.

Carnivine - Thorn Whip/Entangle/Grasping Vine! Also representative of his more aggressive nature that he pushes down until he snaps. Named it simply Flower cause he wanted to associate it with nice and gentle imagery.

Trevenant - Had it since he was a boy and both lost their memories when they were transported to earth. Gifted to him by Beary to help attune him to the Doodler's eldritch nature within him by interacting with the ghost type. Made of the husk of an oak tree. Perhaps possessed by the lost soul of an Oakvale child. Can learn Will-O-Wisp, which is a good enough justification for Wall of Fire for me. He never named it.

Glenn:

Beeheeyem - Had it since it was an Elgyem, but doesn't remember catching it. He remembers getting high in the desert one night, then waking up with a new friend. He doesn't even know the species name, he just calls it Star Wars.

Rotom - Let's it chill in his amps or guitars when at home and in his vape pen when on the go. When it possesses his electric guitars it can play loud even without an amp. Calls it Lil' Dude/Lil' Man/Lil' Guy/Lil' Buddy. It responds to all.

Pikachu - of all the characters, he feels the most right to have a Pikachu. What's it's name? Nick Jr.

Glenn hasn't technically captured any of his pokemon.

Ron:

Herdier - His first pokemon that he had to give up long ago. Named Rogue.

Greavard - It found him one day.

Paeden:

Tyrogue - It's the same size as him and he found it after joining the dads. He fought it himself. Calls it his Rival.

Walter the Immoral:

Honedge - The sword that gave him his name. He never wanted a pokemon, but when the sword he crafted broke and killed that hero, it became possessed and returned to him. Has no name, and he barely refers to it. Good friends with Paeden.

Scam Likely/Well Actually/Scam Actually:

He has no set team. Every time he crosses paths with the daddies he has a different pokemon accompanying him, even if they were only separated for an hour.

Darkrai - Keeps it contained and under wraps. Never tries to use it for battle or utility. He doesn't want to risk losing control, even in his dreams. He would have to be desperate to resort to using it.

Beary:

Liligant (Hisui) - Uses it as a partner for light aerobics and yoga. Calls it Lily.

Golurk - Created it himself. He considers it something of a magnum opus. Refers to it by its species name.

Dragonite - His ace up his sleeve. He lets it guard the O-Dads compounds and bases. Calls it Raymond Dio Labot.

Bill:

Slaking - His oldest pokemon. Extraordinarily powerful, but just as lazy as he is. Calls it Brother.

Exploud - He likes it loud. Taught it to beatbox and Willy fucking hates it. Calls it Rock and/or Roll.

Rotom - Glenn's Rotom. He bequeathed it to him some time before he "died". He's the one that started calling it any variation of "Lil'" that Glenn caught on to.

(to Catherine) Nick stepped outside on the [balcony? patio? front yard?] where Catherine was. Seeing the Dragonite alone, he walked up to her and sat down.

"Are things too loud for you in there?" Nick asked, breaking the metaphorical ice. "I needed to step out for a second. the noise and people in there started to get too much for me." He breathes in and out, kicking his legs back and forth as a stim. "I hope you don't mind my company for a little while?"

[Catherine looks over at the Greedent.]

[Catherine, nervous] "Oh, no. I don't mind."

[She pauses for a second.]

[Catherine, nervous] "I'm not surprised it's noisy. It looks like a lot of Pokémon, and humans, are inside. I think I would be cramped if I went in there."

[She takes a deep breath in and then exhales through her nose before looking at the sky.]

[Catherine, nervous] "I'm just out here because I don't want to a... accidentally cause a scene."

Sinnoh Starter Headcanons

I have Sinnoh starter brainworms so here we go, Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup headcanons, their evolutions included!

You know the drill, under the cut!

Turtwig

Turtwig are natural pacifists, and this is a trait that is further emphasized as they evolve. Because of this, many Pokemon make nests in Grotle and Torterra’s backs, and they welcome it wholeheartedly. With Torterra however, as much as they avoid conflict, they don’t have a long fuse either - if one of the Pokemon nick a sensitive spot on their backs, it can earn them a nasty growl back.

That being said, Turtwig are very anxious about exposing their undersides. Similar to most animals in real life, the stomach is a very vulnerable spot, and if they get knocked on their backs, it can get them to panic. Ironically, this doesn’t happen in scuffles exclusively. Their stubby legs make them clumsy, so sometimes they knock themselves over on their backs and get stuck. But if they’re in a group, the other Turtwig will gather together to help them get back on their legs.

Their health can be determined based on the soil of their shells and the leaves on their heads. If the soil is dry, or maybe even cracked, this is a very tell-tale sign of dehydration - maybe even a fever. If their soil is moist to the touch, that’s a classic flu-like symptom for them, or some other illness. They also require sunlight to channel their photosynthesis - this is quite essential to their well-being!

Should anyone get lost in the forests where they dwell, they will most likely help guide the lost soul back out - they’re aware of their surroundings and can find themselves out of the thickest woodlands.

Chimchar

These Pokemon are physically incapable of sitting still. They are absolute children and will cause chaos out of pure and utter entertainment. However, if they do break something, or if they spot their trainers being upset, they’ll regret it immediately and will try to make up for it with small gestures, like giving berries.

And on the topic of berries, these little guys can be gluttonous. Not to the extent of Skwovet or Greedent, but still - they have quite the appetite, and many have got a major sweet tooth. And as they evolve, that craving gets worse, so be prepared to cook loads of food as they’re guaranteed to want seconds, especially as Infernape.

They love a challenge and will rarely back out of one, but don’t confuse this for being violent. Despite the vicious appearance Infernape have, they’re very calm Pokemon and love company of others, even themselves they form in groups. If they find a Pokemon struggling, the Infernape are quite likely gonna protect them or maybe even adopt if they’re in big danger.

Like most Fire-type Pokemon, they are very much in touch with their emotions, displayed by the flame they have. And similarly, they can regulate the heat of them so they’re able to give physical affection with zero issues.

Piplup

In terms of aesthetics, you’ve met your match with Piplup and its evolution line. They take pride in their appearance, their status and their display of strength, so sometimes they can show off in a fight - or they can make prime contest challengers for coordinators. 

Now their pride can blind them, and may make them just a tad-bit overconfident so reckless charging is a given. And they also tend to bite more than they can chew and set unrealistic expectations for themselves - and once they inevitably fail, they beat themselves up about it very harshly. Try to give them all the support they need, because as they become Empoleon, this habit gets more intense - so reassure them it doesn’t affect their worth at all and need to take this more slowly and step-by-step - rather than do a direct penguin slide into challenges.

They hate the heat with a passion and can get quite whiny regarding it.  If you have a pool or a cellar, expect them to be cooped up in there, they’ll do whatever to keep cool - and if you have ice cream anywhere, it will be demolished without a single scrap left.

Empoleon tend to grow out of this pettiness, but still keep their pride in tact. Though they’re less likely to charge head-first into trouble like Piplup just because something looked at it funny, they’re still very much ticked if they spot something that bothers them. They can also take it upon themselves to keep their trainers’ appearance top-notch and will help preen any loose hair strands - though beware, some know how to be gentle. Others? Not so much, so. Ow.

(Matthew) Or uh, any discarded shirts that are sturdy enough to use as sewing fabrics?

(Nick) Er, whatever you got, what are these coins you're talking about? You aren't talking about Pokedollars are you?

"Oh, oh, my first customers! Exciting, exciting!"

The Gimmighoul flaps its arms, its excitement escaping its voice into its movement. The chest is shaking from the motion of them bouncing their leg out of the same excitement that's made them flail their arms about. They stop moving their arms after a moment and answer the questions before it gets too caught up in its own excitement.

"Not Pokedollars, no, no, coins! Circular, gold, coins! No paper money, just coins. Like this, see?"

They grab the coin that they had been holding against their back with their tail to show the greedent what they meant, putting it back after a few seconds and rummaging through their chest for the requested items. Searching through their chest for a bit they eventually grab a piece of fabric. its patterning and texture suggests its a scrap from a picnic table's cloth- not what Matthew had asked for, but the closest thing Gimmighoul had. It hangs the fabric over the side of its chest so he could view it and think over whether to buy it or not then returns to digging through their stock.

It grabs two pokeballs from the pile, a regular one and a greatball. The regular one is only the top half and the button, the bottom of the capsule nowhere to be seen. The greatball is in better condition, though still non-functional; The hinge holding the two pieces together is misaligned, leaving it always open a crack, and the button seems to be jammed so that it is always pressed down. The Gimmighoul turns to address the Oshawott, taking the coin and presenting the two options to him.

"You can take either one! The one with ridges has more pieces but I'll let you pick which you want. Don't wanna assume anything, no! Thanks for your business!"

Darryl: Greedent and Ursaring (evolves to Ursaluna on adventure) Glenn: Zorua and Klang (Klang doubles as a turntable, don't tell Nick) Ron: Had a Herdier as a kid, deserves a Scraggy. Klefki also feels right Henry: Torterra on Earth, Cradily back on Faerun, and probably a handful of other pokemon [friends] in both places. also Sylveon

Normal: Aipom from his dad, Trubbish he found as a stray Scary: two Meowth. a Kantonian one she's had forever, and an Alolan one Terry gave her as a gift when he married her mom. They have an interesting relationship, because she hates that its a gift from her step-dad, but also this is the coolest cat she's ever met they're like insta-besties. Link: Scorbunny, obvs. Maybe also Spinda Taylor: has LOTS of pokemon (he's rich), but keeps a Shuckle with him most of the time, partially because they keep things in its shell, and partially because he knows that Shuckle can do the highest amount of damage that any pokemon can do in one turn. he swears he can pull that off in a battle. he is lying.

"Rotom and Porygon aren't as easily affected by viruses than before, sure, but I'm not gonna make a fellow Pokemon get sick from my actions on the Internet. Plus, I need to quick and easy factory reset tablets if that happens. There's only so many darknet markets that also have illegal Pokemon goods and not just drugs or illegal weapons so acting quickly is important," Gaea said, taking another scroll on the tablet real quick.

"I can easily download TorracatProwl and my usual VPN anyways."
