Here is the FINAL part (3) of Chapter VII: War’s End! So glad that you made it all to the end. A rather bittersweet sort of sensation but, it was fun writing this to the very end. I so wanted a happy ending, but I still sort of followed Rengoku’s path and cried my eyes out again but it was worth it. Again, this one I know I could write better so I’m going to work on it. Thank you all for reading through this and sticking with me. This was just so fun to do!

                                      Chapter VII: War’s End
“Everyone ready to go?” Tanjiro asked his ‘lively’ crew.
Zenitsu was sitting with Nezuko who was comfortably set in her box. “Yep, yep! Me and Nezuko-chan are as ready as we’ll ever be.”
“Finally! I can get out and stretch my legs!” Inosuke shouted with glee as he grabbed his two blades.
“Hope you have room for one more.”
“Oh, sure, we do-- _____, is that. . . is that really you?”
“In the flesh.” You stepped through the doorway in just the uniform. Over the weeks, you garnered a leveled bob cut of your locs, an eyepatch over your left eye, and scars littering your arms and around your face. “I’ve missed you all so much.”
“COOOOOOK!!!” Inosuke bum-rushed you into a hug, sniffling loudly beneath his boar’s head. “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?”
Zenitsu joined him, well, more like pushed him out of the way as he hugged you next. “____, WE WERE WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!! WE THOUGHT YOU WERE A GONER!!”
“I’m so sorry for up and leaving just like that. There was a lot to process after the Mugen Train incident, and I didn’t want to muddle your healthy minds with my emotions. I wanted to be mentally strong for you guys.”
‘Her scent is still sad. Of course, she has a reason to be. She lost Rengoku-san, and has had to cope with that loss on her own. I know how tough that can be, but I have Nezuko with me still. She doesn’t have any kin or home to return to. Demon slaying is all she has. . . and us.’ Tanjiro’s eyes lit up. “That’s right! You have us.”
“Hmm? What was that, Tanjiro?” You asked.
“We’re a family, isn’t that right, _____?”
His words surprised you, and it made your heart jump with joy. You looked at all four of them as a part of your family. There wasn’t anything you wouldn’t do for them. “You’re absolutely right. That’s why I want to come with you. Besides, as a Hashira, it is but my civic duty to protect Kyōjurō’s juniors.” Tears formed in the corner of your eyes as you spoke fondly of him. “He was so ecstatic to have more apprentices under his belt. Therefore, I must follow in his footsteps and watch over you.”
“YEEEESS!! Having Cook with us will make traveling even better.”
Zenitsu frowned at him. ‘As if traveling with you has been anything pleasant.’
“Now, before we go. I want to see Senjuro. Did you relay the message to him already, Tanjiro?”
“Mhm. As soon as we got back, and when I was able to move. Do you want us to come with you? We’re heading through that direction anyway.”
“Perfect! Let’s be off then.”
You all travelled down to the Rengoku Estate, seeing Senjuro sweeping out of his home. He was caught off guard when you embraced him.
For a moment, there was silence as he held you back tightly, his eyes swelling with tears. Seeing him reminded you of all the times you spent together. The three of you were a team when you and Rengoku were training for the Final Selection. Senjuro, sweet and kind, had a quiet fire burning in him. He was going to be something amazing, just like his brother.
“Senjuro, how have you been? Are you alright?” You inspected him from his ember-tipped hair down to his sandals.
“I’m better now, after seeing you. You left in such a hurry, I was worried that you weren’t going to come back.”
“You’re stronger than I, Senjuro, and I wanted to be that for you. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, _____. Are you leaving with Tanjiro and the others now?”
“Yes. I want to follow in your brother’s footsteps and protect those that I love and those that can’t protect themselves.” You knelt down, looking into his big, soft eyes. “I really wanted us to be together.” You said this, not knowing when death would knock at your doorstep. “I love you, Senjuro. I know you’ll be a great man in the future.”
“Mmm, I think I will be, too.” He hugged you one more time. “I love you, too, _____!”
You returned the favor before you both let go. You reached for your belt, pulling out a small box of goodies. “For you. Hope you like them. Take care, Senjuro.”
Your days, though filled with amazing memories, came to a close as you fell protecting the children. More than anything, you wanted them to succeed. Sacrificing yourself was the only way to win. It was a swift pain, a slow burn, and then darkness bled into your vision as your soul lifted towards the light and your warm, wavering aura vanished from your body.
You were sorry that you couldn’t stay as you walked halfway across the red bridge, spotting flame-tipped hair just over yonder. He peered over his shoulder, a proud smile spread on his handsome features as he held his hand out to you.
Over the red bridge did you both cross, fading into the distance.
                                       ( B O N U S - E N D I N G)
Summer had come and college was out! Most couldn’t wait to spend it goofing off on a beach, traveling across the States, or going right back into school a couple weeks later for summer courses. Many people had many things to look forward to, but you? You had woken up at the ass crack of dawn, taking in the morning air as you raced down the steps with your suitcase fully packed.
“Mom! Dad! Come on! We have to get the airport now! I can’t be late.” Your parents were so slow sometimes and that made you anxious. You could leave them here and catch a ride there or make it on your own but they were not having any of that.
“We’re coming, _____, we’re coming!” Your dad said with a mouthful of foaming toothpaste.
“You usually don’t wake up this early with this much energy.” Your mom added.
“It’s not everyday you get to study abroad in the land of the Rising Sun! I have a day’s worth of traveling to do so I can always sleep later.” Yeah, you didn’t get any kind of sleep last night as you’d be spending most of it in the air.
You hurried them up and sped to the busy airport to meet with the group of classmates you were leaving with. You said your goodbyes to your parents, boarded the plane, and wished for a safe trip.
As soon as service was offered, you grabbed a couple drinks, ate whatever they served in the trays, and knocked out until landing - save for the few bathroom trips -.
Your horizon suddenly expanded the moment you walked out of Japan’s airport, looking around you in amazement. You had to keep murmuring to yourself, “Do not weeb out. I repeat, do not weeb out.” You loved anime, you loved Japanese culture, and you loved their idea of cuisine. Japan felt like the place for you.
“Okay everyone, please come together,” spoke your sweet, endearing Japanese princess of a teacher, Mayamoto-sensei. “We’ll be heading two hours out by bus to Kimetsu Daigaku (Kimetsu University). Rest up and be ready for a little surprise set up by a few students who were interested in meeting you guys soon after arrival.”
You internally squealed with glee. You weren’t dressed up for the occasion but who was going to tell you that you couldn’t wear a pair of sweats on the ride there. With your short locs retwisted and your good outfits packed, you were set to go!
So set that you were the first off the bus and getting your things out. “This is going to be a great experience, I know it!”
“Nn! I agree!”
“Oh my god!” You jumped, scared by the booming voice beside you. “Oh… oh my god.” You had laid eyes on one of the most unique men you had ever had the pleasure of gazing upon. He was different, what with his flame highlighted tips, dazzling eyes, and charming smile.
“Yes. . .?” He slowly stood, his eyes never leaving yours once locked. This man, a vocal and expressive man, was left speechless. He ogled you for much longer than he’s ever done, going over your brown skin, your brown eyes, your short locs, everything! He immediately bowed before you, introducing himself. “Konnichiwa! Rengoku Kyōjurō to moushimasu! Yoroshiku onegai-shimasu!” (Formal: (Hello!) I’m called Rengoku Kyōjurō! Nice to meet you!)
Your eyes bugged out of your face. ‘Shit! Wasn’t he speaking English a minute ago? Okay, okay, what did he say?’ You looked back to see your sensei and the students watching the two of you interact. This was not how you kept yourself out of weeb trouble. Hell, you were still trying to figure out what his fine ass said so fast.
“Onamae wa, nan desu ka?” (Polite: What’s your name?)
You sighed, being able to understand that. “Watashi no namae wa… _____ _____ desu. Doozo yoroshiku.” (Casual: My name is _____. Nice to meet you.)
‘_____?’ He eyed you for a second longer before he placed his hands on his hips, smiling wide from ear to ear. “Very good, _____! I’m Rengoku Kyōjurō, and I am with a few classmates to meet you all. Welcome to Kimetsu University!”
“Woooow, his English is so good.” You thought. Aloud.
“Thank you! I have been learning since elementary! Your pronunciation is good, but your flow is slow. However, I am sure you will improve after being here for a month!”
‘Oh, thanks for putting me out there!’ You smiled nervously. This handsome, wild man was nothing like you had expected. “That’s what I’m hoping for as I’d like to work, live, and travel here in the future.”
“Is that so?” He faced you with his arms crossed over his chest. “Be my student!” Your mouth, along with the others, dropped at his proposal. You looked to your sensei for help, and she encouraged it with an approving nod and smile. “Great, then it’s settled! You’ll be fluent in Japanese in no time!” He looked off to the distance, laughing loud as you smiled in confusion.

My Dear Demon
FEM READER X OVERHAUL
💞Art doesn’t belong to me~ All credit goes to the owners! Just thought they’d help with the visual!💞
AU:
(Takes place in a My Hero Academia x Demon slayer world)
Makes it more complicated but fun :D
Important background for the story before this all goes down:
You decided to go to the store with your boyfriend, Kai, since you started cooking and didn’t have enough ingredients. You forgot you cut your finger with a knife. You turned around in the alley to see your boyfriend who turned into a demon(his bird demon self) he took a huge bite out of the middle of your body and was too overwhelmed to try to think reasonably in his demon form. Someone from the demon slayer corps was called right away without your knowledge.
Warning: CONTAINS A LOT OF BLOOD
Tumblr media
He stood above his angel’s corpse. She was bleeding out. But that angel’s last concern as her lover’s demon form hovered above he looked like a giant crow. that had unhinged its jaw at the full potential. His mask still on him with long black strings that stayed outside as blood leaked through them. The scene looked like this demon crown was trying to peck at a worm. His teeth filled with blood as it dripped back onto it’s victim. His amber eyes swelling with tears as his mouth remained open. He had a purple feathery neck while the rest of his body had wings and flowy brown locks that rested on his head. He was disgusted with himself. He was always careful to not let his demon side take control. He had every restraint ready for the moment he needed blood. But was a kiss on their Now last date really how it ends? He cries as his mouth opens wider as his teeth become more visible. Dripping with his angel’s blood.
His teeth grow sharper and the rests of his feathery body around his beloved as demon slayers appear before him. Warned by his neighbors since they had somehow seen it take place in the alleyway. “Your fine, Angel.” I won’t allow anything les-.”He was interrupted by his angel. “Kai.... just live for me....” His eyes widened in shock as he grabbed onto me tighter. Trying not to worry me more with his expression. If he wasn’t tending to you at the moment. He would have killed everyone who even dared try to “save you” from h i m.
Zenitsu Agatsuma. Appeared in front of him. “L-let her go!” He quivered through his words. “I...I- I!!” Ze-Zenitsu Agatsuma will slay y-you!” His sword shook back and forth. Trying to threaten him. But wings wrapped around her bloody body. He held you for a moment. Not letting you say a word. “I love you (Y/n.)” Thank you for always...being with me....”Even though his mouth has sharp teeth. His lips touched yours in a bloody embrace. Due to his demon form. He could consume the blood from your mouth. You both gasped out. His deeper as he placed you back on the soft grass. He stared at the one with the yellow hair and his worried expression made him an easy target. He came at Zenitsu with all his force. Unfortunately he wasn’t alone. A girl with something like a barrier in her mouth smelled like him but she was trying to get her out of his grasp as he grabbed her with his wing and widened his mouth. Ready to take a bite of his own kind. He shook and tightened more but due to the girl’s claws. She was out of his grasp and he had bruises on both wings. Even some blood marks. Nezuko picked you up and jumped over to her other teammates. This enraged Chisaki more, and he chased after her with all his might. “YOU BRAT-!” He called out as hissing echoed. “GIVE HER BACK TO ME!” He reached out angrily and his once calm amber eyes had the intent to kill. “GIVE ME BACK (Y/n)!”
Tumblr media
His voice sounded like a mixture of anger and sadness. Like his will was breaking with each parting space he had away from his angel. His anger was at it’s limit as he saw Nezuko caress your (h/c) locks and how your (e/c) eyes seemed to weakened and rest while she ran. How dare you have any comfort in this. How dare you find comfort in anyone other than him.
“Nezuko! Bring her here!” A boy with hanafuda earrings calls out the girl with fangs. Her speed allows her to glide fast and follow the orders. But before she can. Chisaki snaps. He goes into a full rage, and strikes the bright pinked eyed girl right in the back with his wings. Using his quirk to heal the blood wounds and attack at full force. You fell on the ground. Now wide awake. But unable to move. It seems like your bleeding had worsened. Now you were bleeding out more than before. But all you wanted was to go back home with Kai, and figure things out. Nezuko falls to the ground. Followed by the hanafuda earrings guy to rush over. Zenitsu panicked and went to make sure his precious Nezuko was okay.
Overhaul turned back to his darling on the grass. “Y/n.” He spoke. His voice not sounding like his usual self. “My dear...My angel, (Y/n)....” He said. Gently stroking your head. His voice broke into parts and he eventually lost control and took his now claws and held you close to him. Putting you in a tight hug as his demon from fades and you were in his arms once more. Facing his back. He put your head on his shoulders. Making sure you didn’t move. He could heal you. But before he could even take off his gloves. You grabbed his hand. Almost barely missing it, and held his blood covered chin closer to yours. Your (e/c) orbs shined as tears fell. Not for your sake. But for his. Tears fell more from his sullen amber eyes. “All- All you have to do is tell them-.” You open your eyes periodically. You go wide eyed. Unable to move since the pain in your chest and the blood pouring out is too much to bear. He sees your struggle and tightens his grip more. Your eyes meet and he begins to flood his vision once more.”I’m sorry....(Y/n).... I should have controlled myself better.....”
You both looked into each other’s eyes calmly. Admiring how loving you both were. “I love you.....” you spoke. Making his eyes tilt down. Making him remember just how much you were his weakness. The only thing that helped him forget his real form. You both looked at each other and exchanged words of love. “I’ll love you forever...only me....”You nodded in joy as you exchanged kisses and held each other as you both forget about the demon slayers around you.
Tumblr media
You started again. Ignoring the chaos around you. ”My love.... He stood up. You still hanging in his arms. “Will you stay with me....even if this happens again?” You were silent. He stared at you. Waiting for his response. “I love you Kai....I always will.” You were heartbroken he’d even have to ask that. You loved Kai, and you always wanted to be with him. Demon or not. Once again. A grin appeared from his face. He wiped the blood forming on your mouth. “I’ll fix you angel....” He used one hand to hold onto you and used his mouth to pull off his glove. “Thank you, Kai- I-“ He reached for your open wound. Before a knife appeared through his chest.
Your love’s eyes widened. He was sliced in the back. He dropped you and fell to the floor. Your bleeding worsened as you dragged yourself towards Kai. Holding onto his bare hand as his shaking pupils didn’t leave yours. You didn’t even have a chance to say your goodbyes. As your boyfriend grabbed onto your hand. His bare hand and just smiled. “Just be happy... Angel...”Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Nezuko. Just stared as he vanished. Not used to how you treated him. You were crying by his side as he faded away. Tears never ending as your screamed out his name. If he was alive. He would have been overjoyed as well. You placed your forehead on his, and your tears went at the same pace as you both said you byes. Nothing you could do now anyways.
“You’ll always be my precious....*cough* angel.” He chuckled. Unable to wipe the tears. You laughed as you put his fading dissinagrating forehead onto yours.
“You dummy.” You laughed through the waterfall appearing on your faave. You’ll always be my dear demon.” Chisaki wishes he could have seen you with a smile for his last moments. But in the end. He knew you would never be the same without him. But he was just happy to get to have you with him while he faded. You both laughed in unison as the demon slayers backed away. It was better this way.... better... this way...
You lied to yourself that day. You may for the rest of your life, as you payed the demon slayers to go away. For their murder. But you couldn’t even began to describe the emotions you felt.
‘I’m f i n e.” You said through gritted teeth before the one named Tanjiro could even offer to help you off as Kai finally faded off. Leaving nothing but his jacket and gloves behind. You put on his jacket and placed his gloves on. Oh how annoyed he would be if he ever had seen you do that. ‘How u n s a n i t a r y angel.’ You mocked his voice in your head before turning back to the ones who had done their jobs. But had hurt their customer in the process.
As you payed them for their service. Just to get them to leave you forever. You faked a smile and watched them off. They smiled back. Not being phased by who they had just killed without asking. The one named Tanjiro patted your back and told you that you can find happiness again. You wound was healed thanks to them. But you just faked a smile and saw them off. Turning back to where the deed was done. Wondering now. What was next for you. While you walked down to the other side of the alley. You couldn’t help but let a few drops leave your eyes and you did nothing but stare down at the concrete and mutter to yourself.
“ I miss you, Kai....” I’d gladly bleed out again for you... just to have you with me...” You felt a breeze go through the jacket and you turned around slightly. Wanting it to be a sign. You saw shoes appear before you in the alley way. Coming out from the door that lead to inside the Shie Hassaikai. A man turned around and dusted off his black suit. He froze as he saw you in a very familiar jacket. You stared at him as he just peered down from the stairs. You saw a smirk under his back face mask as he leaned on the railing. “Very stylish.... wonder who you got it from?”
You paused for a moment. Stiffening in your spot as you looked up at him. Tears suddenly releasing from your eyes faster. Blurring your vision as he got closer to you.
“K-K- K-Kai?”

i finished KNY the other day and it's really all i have been able to think about. i read the whole manga in just about two days (it's only 205 chapters and they're relatively short so it was pretty easy) and i am just overwhelmed with emotion.
i understand a lot of people may be upset with how the manga ended--it's normal to feel like we are missing out on a lot of story possibilities bc frankly we are! gotōge, as far as i know, didn't want the series to end as quickly as it did, but certain unavoidable things popped up and they had to make that decision. it's fine to feel however u feel about it, but don't be upset with them bc i'm sure they're plenty upset about it themself.
i agree that the ending was rushed (bc it had to be), but i don't think the flow of events don't make sense. on the contrary! i think the way things happened do make a lot of sense. in my eyes, it's kinda obvious to see where certain things were pushed in order to transition to the last arc (nezuko suddenly being able to withstand the sun, for example). that isn't necessarily a bad thing and i know that this development would happen eventually. nezuko was, from the beginning, a different kind of demon. she was special from the first chapter on--not eating tanjiro, using sleep to recover rather than consume humans, remarkable strength, etc. i do not believe her developing to withstand the sun was "jumping the shark" nor do i think it was a cheap gimmick of any kind. i guess what i'm trying to say here is that, yes, i think it happened a bit abruptly and could have come later after a lot more development if the circumstances were different. seeing as they're not, it is what it is. i don't think it was done poorly, it just makes me wonder how it could have been better introduced if gotōge had more time.
having said that, it makes me think of how early we are introduced to muzan. he is the Big Bad, someone who no one else had seen before, and we meet him in chapter 13. this is part of why i don't think kny is all that rushed and the ending coming so soon isn't all that disappointing to me. now, granted, many manga introduce the Final Boss pretty early. BNHA introduced shigaraki in chapter 11, for example. but, with shigaraki, we see development in both his character and abilities. we watch as he comes into his own so he needed to be introduced early so horikoshi had time to see him mature. muzan, on the other hand, is more akin to all for one--someone who is borderline overpowered (i would argue muzan is overpowered, but i guess it makes sense considering he's lived ~1000 years, so one would get pretty fucking jacked after all that time plus demons get more powerful with the amount of people they eat soooo) and has posed as a threat to the heroes of the story for a Long Ass Time. i personally feel it would have been better had muzan not been introduced so early if the manga was allowed to be more fleshed out, as i'm sure gotōge planned/hoped. however, it works with how short the manga is. i don't really have a problem with it, it's just something i found interesting to think about and i haven't seen a lot of criticism on.
now, i am making a lot of assumptions on what gotōge had planned--perhaps they planned it to be shorter than i would have anticipated and the end just came a little bit faster than expected. perhaps they planned this to span for 400, 500, 1000 chapters. who knows? i am, after all, projecting my own thoughts on the pacing of the story and what would be appropriate. in my mind, i expected the series to follow tanjiro until he, himself, became a hashira. i would expect it to take hundreds of more chapters to reach that point before the final confrontation loomed on the horizon. i am in no way saying that that is the correct pace the story should have been at. again, it's just my thoughts. i would like to say i am in no way disappointed with how the story turned out. i don't think it was too rushed, i just feel like it's obvious there was more gotōge wanted to tell. we were only just (relatively speaking) introduced to the hashira and now all but 3 are dead. no doubt the quickness is elevated for me since i finished the whole series in 2 days, so things that spanned over years happened in a blink of an eye. however, i would argue that seeing the whole story in a short amount of time emphasizes just how short of a timeframe we are looking at (i realize there are timeskips, but i am speaking from a storytelling perspective).
rengoku dying quickly after being introduced is effective as a tool to show that even the hashira have trouble combatting the upper kizuki. this effectively conveys how much of a challenge the demon slayers have laying ahead of them. it was important to tanjiro especially to see how strong his opponents are. if upper 3 could strike down rengoku, arguably one of the most skilled of the hashira, single-handedly then muzan is a bigger threat than he could have anticipated. from a narrative perspective, this sets the tone to how much of an upward battle tanjiro was facing. it also effectively conveyed to the audience that tanjiro would not be the sole person to end the demons, that he would need help from his friends and peers to end things. this, in my eyes, is so important. yes, a part of me wanted tanjiro to be singularly responsible for muzan's defeat, but i know it wouldn't have been a good decision. when facing an impossible opponent, u have to rely on teamwork. this is something that has been conveyed from nearly the beginning. tanjiro wouldn't have made it to final selection had it not been for sabito and makomo helping him; he would have been overwhelmed and died on his first mission without nezuko; tanjiro wouldn't have been able to save kiyoshi (and teruko + shoichi) without zenitsu and inosuke there to kill the other two demons; he certainly would not have been able to kill the Spider Family by himself; etc. Teamwork has been the focus of the story from the beginning and rengoku's death reminded the audience that the demon slayers needed everyone they could in order to even come close to beating muzan.
still, seeing so little of the other hashira before they died is, understandably, disappointing. i wish we got to know them better, i wish we got to see the trio becoming tsuguko, i wish we got to see the five that passed final selection become hashira themselves, i wish i wish i wish. but it's okay that it didn't happen that way. gotōge still made me care about them in such a short amount of time. i sobbed when they died. genya hits especially hard. he and sanemi only just reconciled and then he died....and sanemi loved him so much. there was so much unsaid when he died and, as of right now, we won't get that resolution. again, not a bad thing. sometimes, while it hurts and you want to know, some questions are best left unanswered.
it hurts thinking about all the people who died. i am still getting choked up at just the thought. chapter 204 hurt me a lot--when nezuko smiled and sanemi saw genya....ouchie!!!! it hurts me so so much and i am so heartbroken and distraught over it. mitsuri and obanai dying in each other's arms, feelings still unsaid but it wasn't necessary bc they knew. they knew they loved each other so much. himejima seeing his orphans again and finding out they were just trying to protect him....and he spent so much time hurt by them running away.....god. it all just hurts so so much. i am so sad. i really don't have the words to capture how much my heart is aching. i fell in love with all the characters and i had to watch them die, watch as the ones they loved and loved them come to terms with their loss, and somehow i'm expected to be okay???? i'm not lmao i am heartbroken. i don't like things a normal amount so after i was done, i literally triggered a depressive episode. i hate it!!! i don't regret reading it and i think the story is beautifully done. the deaths were impactful and they meant something--i don't think anyone's death was unnecessary. they just....hurt. it's a beautiful story and i will recommend it to anyone who wants to try reading it (hopefully those people aren't reading this considering i spoiled uhhhh everything lmao).
thank you, gotōge, for sharing this amazing story. i loved it so much. it was a pleasure to read and i am so excited to experience it animated. seeing rengoku die in theaters will diagnose me with Sad Bitch Disease and i am ready 😌🙏🏻
especially thank you for this ❤️
