Is I have a bunch of other stuff to finish, but the Stone Ocean Brainrot Is Strong and I need to get this out now. 

not technically an AU, but since canon never went into detail I’m including it on the list, AU covering Post Stone Ocean and Emporio adjusting to Normal LifeTM

Not too many fully thought out bits  because I came up with it. Literally an hour ago but I do have some fragments I want to work with so oNTO THE BULLET LIST >:D

Emporio accidentally making it storm HARD with Weather Report during that car ride so they have to pull over and wait it out because driving was too dangerous. This accidentally ends up forcing some bonding between the group and leads to them all becoming friends

The group gets very mixed vibes about Emporio, particularly about how he’s both incredibly smart but also knows very little about the world and is an emotional wreck

Emporio is both incredibly shy and awkward but also desperate for positive affection and proof they’re actually alive and here. Ends up being given One(1) head pat from Wes and bursts into tears right then and there

Then when they all try to comfort him it just makes him cry worse, and eventually this leads to him spilling some of his situation. Not the Universe Resetting Stuff, but how he was born in the prison, his mom hid him, how she was killed by a priest and he's been living in the walls ever since, terrified about said priest finding him, and how he was only able to get out thanks to his older sister, her friends and dad who were.... falsely?(not sure how to describe it, most of their situations are weird) imprisoned, but the priest killed them all too before Emporio could kill him back, so now while he’s technically safe he’s now completely alone

As one can image, They Were Not Expecting All That and collectively decide “yeah we’re keeping this kid safe,” leading to them sticking together for a bit when they get to their destination in the city so they can figure out what to do from here

If I’m remembering correctly, I believe that out of the four of them only Anasui would have his Stand so some chaos there when he learns this kid has two, one of which is pretty sentient and makes itself very clear that if any harm comes to Emporio There Will Be Consequences

Also speaking of Weather Report The Stand, it just kinda. Stares at Wes for a bit when nobody's looking. Things are definitely going to be awkward if the rest of the Gang ever get their Stands again

Emporio also talks to the Stand often, and it becomes a piece of comfort for him, however unfortunately it also has a habit of messing with the weather in response to Emporio’s emotions and wants. Florida can expect a lot of flash storms in the coming days

A few days into the five of them being friends and hanging out, they decide to go on a shopping trip and Emporio has stars in his eyes. He’d never been to a store before, let alone a mall. In the end Emporio easily gets the most stuff despite his reservations at the insistence of everyone else, and it ranges from stuffed animals to a new baseball and glove to new clothes(Emporio is positively giddy at the prospect of non-Green Dolphin clothes, and it both depresses the hell out of everyone but also his joy is infections and makes them all laugh)

At some point they end up meeting Foo Fighters, but not as a plankton. Instead they meet Foo’s old User before Pucci had stolen them and made them sentient. Funnily enough, their User’s personality is almost exactly the same as the Stand when they were sentient which is both another knife in Emporio’s heart but also a comfort because Foo gets to still exist in a sense

Jotaro being a good grandpa and recognizing the signs of Emporio’s trauma and helping him work through it. When the Stand aspect of Emporio’s trauma is revealed, he ends up contacting the SWF to get him a Stand Therapist so he won't have to hide it

The funny thing about this joke is, the unforeseen shedding of bodily fluids actually did wind up being the key to solving this case.

Yeah, it's almost like their corporate masters are running a feudalist state here and don't recognize the authority of outside influences. My dude, I got here five minutes ago and I already grasp the concept of North Korea Presented By Coca-Cola.

Yeah, I know. Which, as I was talking about during the case, means we still have a headcount error. Zilch and Yuma were both supposed to be on that train, the population of which is supposed to be five. Someone who didn't know about the headcount smuggled their way onboard, and then was killed by Zilch.

One of those corpses shouldn't be on that train. In order of suspicion:

1 - Zange: Dude didn't have a uniform or know about the headcount. 2 - Aphex: Had a uniform, but didn't know about the headcount. 3 - Melami: Uniform and headcount, but only offered that information after Pucci already brought it up. 4 - Pucci: Uniform and headcount, raised the topic of the headcount.

Yakko's promising to explain that later though so I guess it's nothing nefarious. That's fine. I've had a long case and I am bushed.

Yeah, I took some hits from the weird RPG dance-fight that's replaced Non-Stop Debates, which isn't half as cool as Non-Stop Debates. Like, the core gameplay loop is still there, but having a distorted gremlin man screaming insults at you isn't as fun as having a group of characters bicker.

The fundamental protagonist-centrism of Mystery Labyrinths makes them a significant step down from the Class Trials.

In any case, this first mystery was fun. I got a lot of things right but then got distracted and wandered off to chase red herrings. That was tremendously embarrassing. But overall, I thought the train car switcheroo was a clever trick.

Like, there's a bit of Magical Mystery Bullshit to it but the fact that it was premeditated by the company that made and operates the car helps grease the wheels. This wasn't just one guy's murder scheme, but a carefully planned murder scheme in motion from the second the train was boarded.

I liked this. There's room for improvement, and also (ugh) a lot of shit they do with Shinigami in the Mystery Labyrinths is terrible. Kodaka's still being Kodaka about his female characters. But the mystery itself was good and I enjoyed it.

long-ass post with random headcanons about dio dea (because female villains) and his her children

( Warning: Pregnancy, stillborn, miscarriage, hypersexuality/sex addiction. )

-It took one hundred years to complete, but once Dea had attached her head to Jonathan's body, it started morphing into her own original body.

-She has technically had five children total. The "green baby" from Stone Ocean was her first, born shortly after she took over the mansion in Egypt. The other parent was one of the men on the boat who had recovered Dea's casket from under the sea. The child was born very prematurely, and she didn't even know she was pregnant, nor did she understand that she could even get pregnant using Jonathan's body to begin with. (From self-harm and dangerous hypersexuality, she was not able to get pregnant while she was still alive with her own original body.) She gave birth alone, and very suddenly, in a lot of pain. The baby survived only minutes. They were cremated, and Dea put their ashes inside of the bone that eventually fell into Pucci's hands. Dea had named the child Alnabatia.

-Dea could never go to a hospital, knowing there was no way to communicate that she needed blood for sustenance and was unable to be in sunlight. She also suspected that hospital personnel would be dumbfounded by any test results from her, as she still didn't completely understand how her immortal body worked herself. She was afraid of what they might do with her child if they were born with anything unusual about them.

-Giorno was her second child. His other parent was Aori Shiobana, a trans woman from Japan, who Dea had an extremely toxic (mutually) relationship with (which had mostly been exclusively sexual to begin with). Dea went through a huge personality change when she found out she was pregnant, and Giorno became the only thing on her mind. But Aori didn't want Dea to have a child, and they fought about it. Aori was not fond of children and made it clear that she could not be expected to be involved in Giorno's life.

-However -- Aori did later change her mind. Months later, one day, while the sun was out, Aori suddenly stole Giorno away. Aori's final words to Dea were about how Giorno could never have a normal life with someone who can't bring him into the daylight. Dea was even more devastated after these words, because she knew Aori was right. At the time, it felt like Giorno's best chance was with Aori, so Dea didn't chase after her.

-Although, the absolutely gutting experience of losing Giorno turned Dea even more cruel than she had been before he was born. Worse than how evil she had been towards Jonathan. Giorno had given her an entirely new purpose that had nothing to do with power. Later, when Jotaro came to fight her, much of her violent rage towards him was influenced by the phrase in her mind, regarding Holly, "I need to make someone else feel the torment of losing a child."

-Donatello and Rykiel were twins. (Their father was Hol Horse, of no warm circumstances -- a rather sad, desperate, random encounter in the library of the mansion. His thoughts afterwards were "Well, that was weird."). Dea was heavily sedated throughout Donatello and Rykiel's gestation, during their birth, and afterwards. She doesn't remember much about them, except their names and when they were born. Though, as with all her children, if she had still been alive when they became adults, she would recognize them. Enya saw that Dea clearly was not able nor willing to parent them, so Enya placed them in foster care. They were separated when Donatello was adopted, and Rykiel remained in foster care until he turned eighteen.

-No one knows where Ungalo came from, except for Enya, who didn't know who his other parent was. Dea's usual bedmates of the mansion were asked about it, but they all agreed that, in their circumstances of timing and method and contraception, it was not possible for Ungalo to be any of their child. Truly, it had been someone who was no more than a passerby tourist in Egypt, and Dea did not even know their name. Ungalo, Rykiel, and Donatello had all been products of Dea's grief about Giorno, where she couldn't have cared less about anything, and could barely feel.

-Dea finally stopped mindlessly having children after she got over the initial agony of losing Giorno. The near fugue state she was in subsided, turning to pure rage. Ungalo was her last. She had only been lucid enough to name him, but didn't remember when exactly he was born. She had only held him once, before he was placed in foster care. Vanilla Ice, Terrence, and Enya would recall that there had been absolutely no trace of light in Dea's eyes when she let go of him. When she was lucid enough, Dea had Vanilla Ice use his Stand to remove Dea's uterus completely.

-N'Dour had been by far the closest person to Dea during her life in Egypt, and he would say that, while Dea had been very different while she had Giorno in her care, there had still been a great deal of her soul present. But after Giorno was gone, N'Dour would say, "There was nothing left of her. She had been like a soulmate to me, but suddenly I didn't recognize her anymore. She became a shadow."

-Giorno is transgender and his pronouns are exclusively he/him. Dea and Aori had not socialized him as any specific gender, and he started realizing himself to be male around age nine. He was a rather gloomy child, and still remained mostly that way, but he did start seeming slightly happier once he realized that he was a trans boy. That was when he started being more creative with his sense of fashion, as he overall felt more comfortable in his own skin.

-Dea was actually the one who named him Giorno. Aori tried to rename him Haruno, but he identified much more closely with the name Giorno. Dea had named him "day" because, the moment she first saw his face when he was born, she thought about how it was like seeing the sun again.

-Giorno remembers her, very fondly. He has nothing but good memories about her, and remembers the songs she used to sing to him. Giorno's connection to nature came from how Dea used to bring him into the garden at night and talk to him about the plants, the animals, the sky.

-At some point while Giorno was living in the dormitories at school, Aori sent him a box of his remaining old things, saying she would just throw them in the trash otherwise.

-In this box was a large envelope he had never seen before. Oddly, it had the name "Giorno" written on it. Aori had always refused to call him that, and his stepfather never knew that name. Startled, Giorno immediately opened the envelope.

-Inside were photos of him from infancy with Dea and her housemates who had helped take care of Giorno (Enya, Vanilla Ice, N'Dour, Terrence), and even some very old photos of Jonathan, Dea, George, and one of Dea's mother.

-There was also a very long, detailed letter from Dea herself, explaining everything about Giorno's infancy, Dea and Aori's relationship (how she had never loved her, and the feeling was mutual), the ambiguous circumstances of his conception, and his difficult and uncertain birth. And, everything about Dea's parents and childhood, about Jonathan and George, very much including how Dea had killed her own father and had been very cruel to Jonathan before killing him and his father. She left nothing out about her evilness.

-She sent the envelope to Aori a while after she had taken Giorno, and Aori forgot about it until years later when Giorno was fifteen. Dea wrote at the end about how she would always love him and how he was "her sunshine." But that, if he never heard from her again, it was likely she had been killed, as she had been determined to one day meet with him again.

-Giorno accepted her evil, though he did not forgive it. But his immense love for her didn't change. He read the letter over and over that night, and he fell asleep clutching it with tears in his eyes.

Because when the end starts sucking, see how DRASTIC AND SUDDEN it is, hence why it shocked me initially, see how the Captain is in danger of being killed and the Gibbous charges at him with an evil grin ready to do it, Pandora rushes to protect him, and SUDDENLY gives the incel who ruined her life all the time a "this is not good !" speech gently-firmly scolding him and he is sad and agrees. Come to think of it it feels like Pucci the dog going "I must go, my people need me", something created at the last moment and feeling artificial for that. Little Vampire remembers this and is weirded out because it is weird to have done and said for all parties especially for Bois Dormante's "choice", but that's what he remembers so it must have happened and he won't remember a horrific vision of an eldritch deity double-killing someone by eating them

And she did that to Michel too because she grew attached. Possibly the 3 other monsters as well, since they are essentially kiddies at heart especially Marguerite, since they didnt remember the Gibbous before I guess she had erased their memories in the prologue as well

It is NOT very ethical but she did it once, she can do it more if it means "protecting the children's innocence", Pandora isn't perfect either and even less her pirate husband

Dio

Being who Dio is, it's hard to know what he's thinking when he finds out he's going to be a father. He will be absent throughout the pregnancy and will hardly bring up the subject when he is private with his S/O: on the one hand, it can be a relief, as he is an unpredictable guy and there is no way to know if he will cope well with certain subjects, but his S/O will have to deal with painful loneliness and the feeling that she is being used as an adornment to maintain a good image for the patriarchal society of the time.

Joseph

He's excited about being called a dad, despite having a few insecurities snaking through his mind from time to time.

Caesar

As sweet and sweet as Jonathan, the only visible difference is that Caesar, in fact, never thought about becoming a father. It's fine to let him live out his fantasy as long as he can keep it.

Avdol

Deep down, he always knew that he would be a good father: he is good with children and is usually able to gain their trust very easily, however, it is difficult to know how to act when the baby is yours, your responsibility and from nobody else. He'll do just fine, though.

Jotaro

He will be distant once he finds out about the pregnancy. It was to be expected, seeing as his S/O deals with him on a daily basis: she is expected to understand that he is not displeased with the news at all. It's just his way of handling this situation, just like he always has. She can, however, feel him rest his hand just below her navel during the night and he will be more attentive to any signs that his S/O is feeling unwell.

Josuke

There are many knots embedded in the back of this man's head. A confused bunch of knots that cause thoughts just as confusing, crowding more and more until it becomes a mess almost impossible to untie alone.

He feels desperate and confused and scared, like a child hearing a noise coming from inside a closet. There is uncertainty as to whether he will make the same mistakes his father made in the past, although both know that such a hypothesis is practically impossible. Nobody can blame him, after all, his history with "parents" is about as controversial as it gets.

The good thing about Josuke is that he simply refuses to step away from the situation to deal with his insecurities, as his S/O doesn't have the same privilege. This makes it easier to get inside his head to untangle the knots, calmly, line by line, until there are none left.

Koichi

Having the same reaction as Josuke, the only difference is that Koichi's insecurities are not as deep and difficult to deal with as his friend's, lasting only a few weeks and needing only a few positive words to completely subside.

Okuyasu

There are two alternatives for this guy: Either he becomes the happiest person in the world or he ends up panicking and hiding under the bed. One option can lead to another and vice versa, depending on the situation he finds himself in.

Overall, he's scared: babies are scary! With those soft little bodies and erratic movements, completely fragile and dependent on other people. He doesn't think he's ready to take care of a baby, especially when he knows he can't even take care of a flower without it dying in less than two days. There's a lot in his hands now.

Rohan

Family was never a recurring thought during Rohan's life. To be honest with himself, he never thought this was capable of happening until he started having a relationship with his S/O. In general, he welcomes the news: there is a certain apathy coming from the fear of leaving the peaceful life he has been leading in recent months. It's almost agonizing to let the tranquility of the house be replaced by the loud cries, the crash of toys falling to the floor, the thud of little feet on the carpet and the infernal sound of those repetitive children's programs. Abbacchio

He will be the first one who coldly rejects the child during the entire pregnancy. He could never, under any circumstances, become responsible for a life: he barely knows how to take care of himself, let alone take care of such a fragile and dependent creature, it's just reckless to think that he would be able to.

This tends to change when he comes into contact with the baby for the first time. The flushed face, the narrowed eyes full of life, the messy hair dirty with amniotic fluid, are just some of the excuses to say that he ended up falling in love with the existence of that baby. It's as if his world is protected by the child's little arms and the child is comfortably protected in his arms.

Narancia

Almost like Polnareff, the boy is taken by a naive happiness, taken by the idea of having a normal life with his S/O. Obviously, he is inexperienced with being responsible for someone else's life, but this is far from intimidating or fearful. His S/O is lucky to have him as a partner, he will be a good father.

Fugo

He will panic at first, and his thoughts don't stray too far from Abbacchio's, after all, Fugo doesn't have good influences when it comes to family. The first sensation he can identify is relief. Not the usual relief you feel when you get something you wanted, but rather like the weight of the world has been lifted off his shoulders. It's a peaceful, calming feeling, and it gives you almost nothing to cry about.

This feeling comes, in parts, not from the emotion of becoming a father, but from the happiness of having his life, stagnant for years in a single event, back in his hands. It's like he's got a new chance to keep living, this time with the right people, the right way. He will definitely not waste this chance.

Gyro

Incredibly, the quietest of all. He's happy with the news, of course, and even a little scared (stepping out of his comfort zone scares him), but if he and his S/O are in a stable relationship, it was inevitable that a baby would come sooner or later. later. afternoon. Maybe he's just used to the idea, or maybe the penny hasn't dropped yet.

Diego

The situation is almost the same as his counterpart, except that there is still a certain humanity in his heart that makes him more sensitive to the idea of having a baby. anasui rant 57

so, i admit i haven't finished stone ocean. i've only just now started the underworld arc. however, i'm still very annoyed by anasui and foo's death, and i think i may have come up with a genuine reason why: narrative potential.

one of araki's skills in character writing, i believe, is tying a group together. this is best illustrated in bucciarati's gang, but is present to some extent in prior parts. characters will have their own dynamics, own wishes, own goals to achieve that are often personal, but intertwined with the main one of the part. the main goals of part 6 are to defeat pucci and to escape gds, and all of the characters have had some miniature arc that includes this, save weather, which is probably coming up soon, and anasui. jolyne's is mostly survival, hermes's is to defeat the murder of her sister, and foo's is to live their own life and philosophy. weather's will likely circle around his connection to pucci and amnesia; emporio's is to escape as well. anasui, though, has only the motivation of marrying jolyne. this is iffy, and i really don't want to get into it due to how creepy and disgusting it is. the point is, anasui's whole motivation and a major part of his character is solely tied to another, leaving little potential to grow due to his entitlement (not the right word but whatever).

and THIS. THIS is why i hate how Foo Fighters died in his stead. Foo had an arc that, to be honest-but-hyperbolic, had the potential to fill its own novel. they grew from a very literal non-sentient creature to someone who would lay down their life for their friends. foo's status as plankton with memory access gave them a very unique philosphy and view of the world, which is shown even in their antagonist first appearance

this continues on in the form of curiosity once they reform, asking questions about various human/prison life facets, but also doing more philosophy, as in the memetic salmon-lunch lady interaction. even up to foo's death, they display their courage and love for jolyne, due to how she revitalized and revealed a whole new world to them.

whew. i probably got off track there. the point, though, is that foo fighters is unique among jojo characters, having a genuine philosophy and complex character. and with the later arcs focusing on pucci and dio's sons, who pucci also molded into tools? that could have led to some interesting exploration for foo's feelings on pucci as a whole!

as for anasui. anasui's backstory is quite clear. he has no ties to other prisoners, no mysteries connected to him; his only motivation is to pursue and get jolyne. that's it. in something like part 4, with yukako, a yandere works fine. admittedly yukako has weird girl swag, but she is introduced before the main plot; a weirdo freak character fits well. but anasui has no such potential. there is nothing motivating him, or keeping him around in story. it doesn't matter if he died in foo's stead; part 6 would likely have been MORE COMPLEX that way. for example, what if in the bohemian rhapsody arc, foo had been subjected to the fate of a character that atroe related to? there was really no use in keeping anasui around, and i view foo's death as a complete waste. this is probably badly written. lol.

My silly hcs on phantom blood au 😮‍💨

Phantom Blood seems to fit in my top 3 fav parts since it has young Dio haha. That's the reason I'm so inspired to create smth in that timeline...

♡ So the relationships between Dio and Jonathan are kinda obvious in canon, but I'd like to see more of their interactions at the younger age when Dio's personality hasn't fully formed yet, so he'd probably be able to hesitate about his *evil* actions towards Jojo. Yeah, in canon he's been treating Jonathan badly from the very beginning, hasn't even hiding it, but according to his immaturity he could feel conflicted sometimes? Maybe thoughts like : "and what if I just leave this plan of destroying Joestars' lives and try to adapt to this new "better" family which surely gives me opportunities to reach high places or gain authority in the future???" Although then I'm missing Dio's maximalism.

If only who could have some thoughts of embracing new reality and Jojo as the brother? Jojo is the best option to u know.. comfort ppl? Literally, there are all conditions to make a gentle human being out of Dio, huh.

Also I just want to write more double-meaning situations between these two. When from Dio's side it's not obvious wether he's a pure evil creature (from his early teens) or he's just so traumatized that he acts violent unintentionally and is silent about seeking some help (because of pride or fear or stuff) from the outer world (aka Joestars family). And Jonathan who doesn't want to believe that Dio sincerely hates him but can't justify his actions and also hesitant to explicitly explain his step bro's behavior. The "dumbness" of Jorge Joestar is kinda fitting, since the trope of parent who devalue one of his children's words towards other child's wild actions is perfect. Haha.

So it works like a psychological horror because everything is unclear and weird

♡ The figure like a true-ally for Dio. We've seen Pucci as this type of faithful follower, in Diego's case it was Hot Pants, although she's more independent, but still. And Part 1 Dio had some... weird minions lol. So another Italian catholic person would fit in perfectly, tho it's better to make a reasonable circumstance why these two will work well together. At first I thought about Hot Pants alter-ego, still the reason behind this thing is meh. Love? Certainly big no, it's meaningless for both of them. A common aim? Well Dio's was to become the richest man in the entire world, destroy the Joestars, then denial of his own humanity. And hers, who's a religious person? What would that possibly be what also crosses Dio's interests? Idk. Maybe another pov on religion or Christianity itself and fanatism of Dio? Supporting him at this rate? Boring. I'll fuck this shit up immediately.

♡ Demons. Yes we have vampires there, yes some magic things like stands, hamon, saint corpse, those freaking arrows, the mask... Demons isn't something which isn't suitable 🤧.

So Dio's ancestors were dealing with demons, kings of Hell. And maybe Dario owes something to a greedy demon even after his death, so the debt goes to the son. I want to use the image of King Paimon (because I love Hereditary lol). And Dio learns some weird stuff from this demon before becoming a vampire, so this creature becomes his new ideal, since he didn't have any role models. Tho, Dario aka anti-role model. And here's this demonic great king of Hell huh. So they'll have some sort of contract, after their interactions Dio has ambitions of becoming as great as this demon. And also reject the humanity because of demon's influence. Also King Paimon will tell him about his own origins aka Heaven and this funny story how Lucifer and Paimon and other rebellions were banished from there. And THIS will be the motivation for Dio to think about reaching heaven himself, since you need to have almost a God power to reach it, although even the strongest creatures like Lucifer and Paimon (aka former high class angels) couldn't fight for it for a long time huh and were defeated by God's army.

♡ About King Paimon. Originally I wanted him to be a spiritual demon who chooses the body to reincarnate in Hot Pant's alter ego in Phantom Blood universe. And in this case it'll be her ancestors who were dealing with demons to become rich etc etc, so the girl tried to wash away her sins by praying to God, BUT it didn't help huh🧐. So King Paimon found her and made her his vessel. However he didn't like the body as it was female and the demon prefers to be in male one (stolen from Hereditary I don't even hide it.) So HP would be partially (?) possessed and somehow Paimon choose Dio as his male vessel — tho I didn't make up why Dio and how. If Paimon sees "evil origins" of Dio's soul it's too naive, huh. And then, since Paimon chose Dio's male body he'd like to stay with HE'S female head since he likes her feminine face. It's from description of Paimon – "he's a man woth effeminate face". That's funny and cooperates woth canon story where Dio's body was destroyed by Jonathan, so there was only his head. As the result, it turns out that Paimon is kinda faceless, because he prefers human's appearance.

But idk why I felt conflicted about it. So I manged to make him a proper look as a demon, his true appearance. Guess he'll be a tall young-looking man with greyish skintone, but he'd look more like middle eastern person and would wear some south eastern clothes. The main colours are black and golden, his eyes would be completely white and shining in his demon form – in human they'd be jet black to make his gaze soulless. Also dark lips and eerie smile. Most of the time he'd be calm. I'd like to imagine him and his dromedary are wearing crowns. Armenian ones are just perfect! Paimon would have dark long hair which are covered with his headdress. I don't want to show his hair much, it's like I want to define his face with headdressing and loose scarf around his neck. Also he'd wear a lot of golden eastern jewelry, the ones which look like coins on chains arounf the forehead. Also earrings and rings.

Saw someone describe F.F. as "Stand-less" which really hammers home how Foo messes with people's heads. She isn't a person with weird abilities who lacks a Stand, she IS a Stand (she's her own Stand, in a sense; a Stand comprised of millions of herself forming a larger Stand and an accompanying consciousness ala macroscopic multicellular organisms) piloting the reanimated corpse of a Stand-less human.

To get even more in the grit of her existence: F.F. is a collection of real world plankton (probably zooplankton, or a mix of zooplankton and phytoplankton, though I seriously doubt she is solely the latter due to the fish-spawn appearance of her micro Stands) who had been serendipitously granted a hive Stand disc by Pucci and White Snake, and thus gained to ability to form one conscious, meta-cognitive, cohesive self, who can spawn more of herself as a part of that power. She is a Stand born from non-human organisms who herself became an organism, which is utterly unique to all other Stands who simply cannot exist as organisms (organisms require nourishment and water, and are able to reproduce to survive AND untethered from a human User).

Which is why her themes of existentialism, of what it means to form memories (and thus connections with others) and to have a Self, are core to her character development and ultimate demise. Why she refused to be 'brought back' when Jolyne cried out about re-obtaining the Foo Fighters disc from Pucci and placing it into another set of plankton: it simply would not be Her, even if the same Stand ability is being passed on. And that really wouldn't offer any solace or happiness for her loved ones, as it wouldn't take them long to realize that this new F.F. isn't the one they had lost.

Which, as an aside, foreshadows the rebirth of the universe and the central cast's alternate selves at the end of Stone Ocean, with the lingering question that makes it all so bittersweet: are these people, in any tangible way besides their appearances, the same people? They've been freed from their fates, and Jolyne and Jotaro (and thus all Joestars) therefore freed from the Joestar curse, but are they in any way the same people? Can they really appreciate what they've gained and what they've lost in turn? F.F. likely exists as the various plankton that lived their lives as normal organisms pre-Stand disc in the reset universe, and truly without the circumstances that led to them becoming one, becoming a Stand, and becoming, in a sense, a person, with friends, with goals, with a unified memory, none of those plankton are or will ever be Foo Fighters. And Atro, the woman Foo indirectly kills and then reappropriates as her human body after becoming Jolyne and Ermes' ally would exist in that new world, a copy with her face but an entirely different life and name. So of course, much as it hurts the audience, F.F. does not appear in Stone Ocean's final scene with the reunited cast.

And so without those same circumstances, connections, memories, and tribulations, the people we see sporting Jolyne's, Ermes', Annasui's, and Weather Report's faces simply aren't them.

F.F. isn't Stand-less, but as a Stand who exists unlike all others she had a better view about what it meant to be who she was, and how irreplaceable it is to be who you are as you exist today.

•I felt really bad for him during his fight :( he was just an average guy who got dragged into Pucci’s conflict without his consent. I was just really glad Araki never outright confirmed his death (even if his body did mysteriously disappear from the stairs during the Dragon's Dream fight).

•Impression Now:

• Baby boy. Baby. I love him so much. I love how weird and extreme all the other Stone Ocean characters are, and then Viv is just. aggressively plain-looking. He’s still super duper duper hot tho, like holy shit, but just LOOK AT THIS FUCKING LINEUP

Araki doesn't always make good writing choices, but having one of his villains just be Some Guy who has a regular 9-5 job and isn't a part of this conflict at all was great. Sad for Viviano that he got dragged into all this, but conceptually a very fun arc.

•I just find it so funny that one of the ONLY things we know about Viv is that he's into some degree of CBT. I love the vague implications of this, like what other situation Mr. Westwood? Is he referring to a normal, out-of-work CBT session....or does he just legit get off to prisoners attempting to crush his genitals to escape being detained??

•Idea for a Story:

•Post-Survivor, "holy shit I have a magical ghost now and other people do as well". Not only is he recovering from being supernaturally forced to kill his coworker and friend :( he also has to deal with now having a stand, which must be absolutely terrifying for any adult who's gone their whole life without knowledge of this phenomenon. Especially considering his first experience with other stand users was so awful. Like, once he realizes he wasn't just hallucinating the whole thing, where do you start? He doesn't even know they're called "stands", how do you find information on them? IDK maybe I just like the worldbuilding aspect of this, but I wanna see stand user culture, how do new adult stand users (which aren't unheard of, like Tonio and Aya) find out about how stand stuff works?

•Hmmmmm once again with the minor villains not a lot of people really have serious opinions on him. Just APPRECIATE HIM MORE HOLY SHIT. HE'S HOT. HE'S GOT A STRONGMAN BOD. REAL MEAT ON THOSE BONES. •The brief period where he was just hanging out with Sonny Likir was nice. I wish Stone Ocean showed us more antagonists interacting! That’s like, one of the best parts of jojo, when you have a villain duo or squad like Cioccolatta and Secco, La Squadra, Oingo and Boingo, or Sale and Zucchero, seeing how these characters act with the people they love/respect/tolerate before we see them trying to kill the protagonists adds so much depth and sympathy and investment. Seeing Sonny and Viviano just have some regular coworker banter before the fight was really fun and makes me wish we could see more of that in Stone Ocean.

•Favourite Headcanon:

•He's bisexual and literally the most closeted man to ever exist. He's the type to laugh at the homophobic comments his friends and coworkers make, and even make some of those comments himself, it's a learned defensive habit. I'm not trying to make him super angsty or anything, he just gives me mega bi energy. I don’t think he grew up in a particularly abusive or neglectful household, just the kind of environment where people in his family/community would make gay jokes because they honestly didn’t think anyone around them was gay. And I can’t see a prison in the early 2010’s as being the most accepting place either, so he’s just learned to keep certain things to himself, and hope those feelings he has about men sometimes just go away on their own.

We put them on these little pedestals in the break room to help appease the gods, Cromdo says. Keeps things going. I think he's lost his mind. But, hey, he writes the checks. But I tell you what. Finished the Stone Ocean manga! Here’s what I thought:

- Not entirely satisfied with the end of it, but that’s how these things go, and I was far from surprised with how much people talk about the ending without saying that there will be spoilers.

-I knew about the Möbius Strip moment ahead of time, but it was still super cool to see! C-Moon’s power in practice was disgusting, but the gravity concept was really cool!

- Bohemian Rhapsody was my favorite of the new stands in concept, but I found the execution a little hard to keep track of (the way the stand worked was clear, but like, if the person takes the narrative place of the character they like then you expect me to believe the BIG BAD WOLF was a beloved character for Anasui? the WOLF??? Now that i type it out it might be because of the “cutting him up” bit and Anasui’s weird fascination with disassembly but come ON WHO LIKES THE WOLF???) Overall i loved the stand though.

- At some point near the end Jolyne kinda stopped feeling like Jolyne to me. I think it just about lines up with when Jotaro shows up again, which makes sense because a lot of the stuff that makes Jolyne stand out is the confidence and boldness and all the Joestar traits that she shares with her father and having two characters acting that similar would be a bit difficult to execute, but it still was a little disappointing, because her biggest moment was the Möbius Strip thing and,,, helping Emporio get away so he could be the one to finish the fight? It makes sense with the plot, really, but it is a little bit disappointing because I kept thinking “Oh, Jolyne is gonna have a big main character moment against Pucci, right? That’s gonna be just up ahead, right?” and then it just didn’t happen like that. I mean, I’ve seen people say Giorno felt like a side character in his own part (which I couldn’t agree with less tbh) but even Giorno, and every other JoJo of their part, including Jonathan who died doing it, got to face off with the main antagonist in the end, so the two characters who stood up most to Pucci being Anasui and Emporio was a little hollow to me.

- That’s not to say I thought Jolyne was written badly or anything like that, it was just a little disappointing to me that her big fights where she gets to stand on her own and have her main character moment were against smaller villains/inside the Green Dolphin Street Prison, but against Pucci and in the overall plot of things it’s FF, or Jotaro, or she’s just defending herself, or Emporio is the one who gets to end the ripple effect Dio started that has ruined her life since she was a child. I wish she got to be more active in her own part, and even though the original Joestar “curse” ends with her, it doesn’t sit quite right to me that it wasn’t ended by her. Jolyne is punished by fate for being a Joestar, bad things happen to her, she tries to stop those things, but when she gets to the source of the problem, she just dies there. She doesn’t get to stand against it as an individual, she simply dies. When she finally gets to be free of the weight of being a Joestar, it, like most of the other major plot points in Stone Ocean, is just something that is done to her, an action that is executed onto Jolyne.

- I liked Miu Miu’s stand and the Jailhouse Lock arc, I think it’s a really cool stand and in contrast to the issue above, it’s always so nice when Jolyne gets to really end an issue herself. It was really fun to see Gwess again, and all her moments were funny and overall enjoyable. It’s a little bit odd to me how many of the Jolyne “personality” moments that I saw being hyped up as funny before reading Stone Ocean (e.g. spoiling the movie, forgetting her underwear) were just because of Jailhouse Lock and overall unrelated to her main personality, but that’s not a writing thing or anything, just a bit weird in reception.

- Was not big on Erme’s usage post Kiss Of Love And Revenge fight. She was really cool in the Versus fight and her creative stand usage made the fight really interesting and tbh carried it (although putting Jolyne in her mouth was…. interesting?) but besides that it kinda just felt like she took the backseat to an extreme degree, and pretty much constantly since they escaped Green Dolphin Street Prison I was waiting for something to happen with her, and going “man, i miss Ermes, I hope she shows up soon!” and she just didn’t do that like she did back in the prison.

- I think this feeds into my main issue with everything post-breakout, which is not a critique on writing but simply a personal tonal preference: the character’s lives were more or less directionless, in what i believe is an intentional and justified way. It makes a lot of sense writing-wise, due to their circumstances and motivations, but I couldn’t see any of them getting out of prison and having a life after. Even if the ending wasn’t spoiled for me, this would have been one of the biggest indicators that the main cast was eventually going to die, because there would have been nowhere for them to go once Pucci was defeated. With Polnareff, similarly to Ermes, he was willing to die to avenge Sherry, but Avdol and Kakyoin talked him out of it, and he had a goal after, and he was able to choose what to do once their adventure was over. But Ermes had one life goal, and that was to kill Sports Maxx. If she broke out and survived afterwards, she would be wanted forever, and if she waited 8 years to get out she would have to restart her life with no family, nothing to do, and multiple criminal charges including armed robbery. This lack of prospects is similar with Anasui and Jolyne. There are possibilities for what they could do in their lives if they had survived, but none of them were hinted to in the story and there were no signs they would be inclined to do anything in particular post Stone Ocean. In a way, this makes the ultimate ending of Irene and Anakiss a bit kinder, because it removes the influences in their life that made them become that way, but “universe reboots where things are better” has never been a trope that I enjoyed very much, potentially because the better conditions still do not apply to the original versions of the characters, and to them all the suffering they went through really was in vain, because the self that they know did not live to see those conditions. This is a completely fine tone to write and creative choice to make, but for me it comes off a bit too depressing to really enjoy it.

- also Pucci would not have even been an antagonist to the Joestar’s specifically if it wasn’t for Dio introducing him to the Joestar feud, and if Jotaro had just left that diary intact and locked it up or something nothing bad would have happened to Jotaro that led to the ultimate loss that they suffered until Pucci started doing the Green Baby stuff, which they would have been alerted to via the star birthmark and subsequently could have prevented a lot better than they did in canon with coordination and probably stopped completely but it’s not like Jotaro could have predicted Pucci so that’s fate i guess

- It seems like this is the end of the “larger group of friends” JoJo structure that was in SDC, Vento Aureo, and to a lesser degree Stone Ocean for now, which is a shame because i like that set-up more than i do duos/trios but what can be done, it’s not like i’m gonna stop reading the manga and hey, one can hope for part 9 to revert to that arrangement. Tbh this particular one doesn’t really think that that’s gonna happen, but one can hope.

- Overall i think the strongest and most enjoyable parts of Stone Ocean were Savage Garden to Bohemian Rhapsody. I want to be clear that even though i’m talking a lot about the parts i found a bit of a let-down, I did like Stone Ocean pretty well overall!

tl;dr I was slightly underwhelmed by the ending of Stone Ocean, but i’m still excited for the anime adaptation to finish, i’m just looking forward to everything up until the Jailhouse Lock arc ends specifically.

I’m gonna start Steel Ball Run soon, but honestly i’m kinda just gonna read it so i can get to Jojolion haha

GUYS WHAT THE FUCK

I just came back around to watching stone ocean after ignoring it for half a year in favor of the Kira brainrot (also because the ending was spoiled to me, still upset about that) and holy FUCK what is going on???

I’m on episode whatever and now apparently WEATHER IS A JOESTAR???? I mean idk but he has the star on his shoulder so THATS fucking weird. And now Dios sons are introduced, I didn’t think they were a feature in stone ocean so I’m curious to see what part they play in all this goofy nonsense. Not to mention Puccis crazy ass gaining his new stand which we all know will eventually become [MEIDO IN HEBUUN]

That’s not even mentioning the fucking chaos that was the Jailhouse rock arc, fucking superb 1000/10 best jojo arc ever imo.

Now I’m in the middle of bohemian rhapsody and confused as fuck but as always, I’m curious to see what crazy bullshit Araki had up his sleeve this time around.
