omgomgomgomg the new starkid musical I am dying of excitement!!!!!!

so hyped to see bryce in a lead role. first black lead, another female lead in a small overall selection. also she just had such strong energy from the second I saw her in nightmare time. audibly gasped.

also fantasy??? pirates??? we don't have much info but I can't freaking wait and you know I'll be trying to get down to LA again to see it.

anyways, some hopes: jae hughes, jlb, and james tolbert all in major roles. queer themes. pain and suffering but also catharsis. probably more I can't think of but I'm ready for whatever they've got!

If I had a nickel for every Melliot musical that features an asshole character who sings a soprano ballad that reveals his Many Issues, falls for a character who will never return his feelings, fucking dies, and returns as a ghost to sing the bittersweet finale that delivers the main theme of the show, I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it was the same actor both times.

I am so very excited about the new Starkid musical, but…

It really needs to be the last Cinderella musical.

There are already at least four musicals about her (I haven’t actually seen them all, but still) that I can think off the top of my head.

There is:

The Disney one

The one by Rogers and Hammerstein

The one by Andrew Lloyd Webber

The one by Camila Cabello

Plus Cinderella is one of the main characters in into the woods

Is there something about Cinderella’s story that makes people want to write musicals about her?

I am really curious about Starkid’s take on the story and can’t wait to watch it, it’s just something I have been wondering.

We are currently hard at work on our next show, Ghost Story! We don't have a production lined up yet, much less any kind of video, but we'll update as we go along with getting it in front of eyeballs :) (Probably the first iteration of it will be a reading in New York City -- or maybe New Haven, CT. -- so if you're around there keep an eye out for more info once we finish writing it!)
