Apps That Help Entrepreneurs Optimize Their Digital Marketing Strategy
Did you know that there are 582 million entrepreneurs in the world? With numbers like this, entrepreneurs everywhere need a competitive edge. If you’re building and scaling a business, chances are you’re constantly on the lookout for ways to get a leg up on your competitors. To accomplish this, you’ll need a great marketing strategy that stands out in a saturated market and access to the best digital marketing tools.
In this blog, we’re going to outline nine applications you need to optimize your digital marketing strategy. There may be a few that you are familiar with; others might be new to you. These are the ones that can unlock that door to success you’ve been waiting for.
From project management to outsourcing tasks and simplifying your social media marketing efforts, each of these applications will help you get the competitive edge you’re after. Plus, they’re easy-to-use with minimal technical skills required.
Project Management and Collaboration - Trello
The most important part of starting your digital marketing strategy is communicating and setting expectations for deliverables and deadlines for yourself, and if applicable, your team and stakeholders. In the past, most project management efforts took place via email. However, that traditional process was not created to accomplish the dynamic and fast-paced tasks that digital marketing activities demand.
Trello is a free digital marketing tool for easy project management. The app displays each project like a “board” containing “cards” with checklists, and the user interface is easy to understand and navigate. Like other platforms, there are upgrades that come as paid features to get the most out of it. But, the basic free service entails checklists, deadline reminders, data filtering, activity logs, email notifications, customizable task categories, and more. It’s the best tool to simplify and organize digital marketing projects.

Three landmark Supreme Court decisions in 2022 have each been widely criticized by health experts as threats to public health, but a study released Thursday in JAMA Network Open modeled their collective toll. The study found that, by conservative estimates, the decisions will lead to thousands of deaths in the coming years, with tens of thousands more being harmed.
The three decisions included: one from January 13, 2022, that invalidated some COVID-19 workplace protections (National Federation of Independent Business v Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)); one on June 23, 2022, that voided some state laws restricting handgun carry (New York State Rifle and Pistol Association Inc v Superintendent of New York State Police (Bruen)); and one on June 24, 2022, that revoked the constitutional right to abortion (Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization).
A group of health researchers, led by Adam Gaffney at Harvard University, modeled how these decisions would impact Americans' morbidity and mortality in the near future.
COVID deaths and harms
For the OSHA decision, the researchers drew upon OSHA's estimates of the number of workers who would have been vaccinated under the agency's emergency temporary standard (ETS), which would have required large employers to have employees vaccinated or take precautions such as masking and testing. OSHA estimated that implementation of the ETC would have led to 18.9 million more people getting vaccinated at the time, which coincided with the initial omicron wave. The study authors modeled three scenarios, varying the times at which the implementation came into effect amid the infection surge in January and February 2022, drawing on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to assess deaths by vaccination status, age, and calendar week in the implementation period. They also modeled the rates of hospitalizations, intensive care admission, and use of mechanical ventilation.
Between January and May 2022, invalidating the OSHA ETS was estimated to be associated with between 980 and 2,940 deaths, with a middle estimate of 1,402. Additionally, hospitalization estimates ranged from nearly 16,000 to 48,000, with a middle scenario of just under 23,000. Estimated cases needing intensive care and mechanical ventilation middled at nearly 4,000 and 1,500, respectively.
Firearm deaths and harms
For the Bruen decision, the authors reviewed seven recent studies estimating the increased rate of firearm-related homicides associated with dropping "may-issue" concealed-carry permits for handguns. The Supreme Court's ruling voided such laws in six states (California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey) and the District of Columbia. Based on the literature review, Gaffney and colleagues estimated homicide-rate increases ranging from 3 percent to 9 percent. That set up modeling for three scenarios, with a mid-level increase of 6 percent, based on CDC data on firearm-related homicide rates in the affected states and DC. They also modeled three scenarios in which states offset the effects of voiding the laws with new policies, either completely, partially, or not at all.
In all, the middle scenario estimated an increase of 152 additional fire-arm related deaths per year, with 377 additional nonfatal firearm injuries.
Pregnancy-related deaths and harms
For the Dobbs decision, the authors modeled out the projected deaths just based on the mandatory continuation of pregnancy in people who otherwise would have ended the pregnancy. Previous research has estimated that pregnant people are 14 times more likely to die from a pregnancy than from legal, induced abortions.
Gaffney and co-authors built on previous estimates of foregone abortions in a post-Roe America, based on a national data set of abortion facilities and driving distances from the center of each county to the nearest facility. The authors used previous estimates of how distance to the nearest facility reduces rates of abortion. They also modeled two scenarios, looking at the impacts of facilities closing in the 13 states that had trigger bans and a second scenario that included facility closures of 10 additional states considered at high risk of implementing restrictions.
For each foregone abortion, the researchers estimated an additional 0.8 births—a previously published conversion that accounts for some pregnant people miscarrying. With that conversion, the estimated additional births are then multiplied by state-specific pregnancy-related mortality rates to get the estimated increase in deaths. Generally, pregnant people living in states with abortion bans are three times more likely to die from pregnancy than pregnant people living in states without bans. And overall, the US has the highest pregnancy-related mortality rate among all high-income countries.
Last, the researchers estimated additional rates of health problems from certain pregnancy complications, namely ectopic pregnancy, previable premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), and preeclampsia. In the year since the Dobbs decision, health researchers have already documented increases in suffering and harms to pregnant people due to new restrictions delaying standard care, which exacerbate already life-threatening complications.
None of this is surprising. As Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general for the World Health Organization, said last year at the news of the Supreme Court's decision: "The evidence is irrefutable. Limiting access to safe abortion costs lives and has a major impact particularly on women from the poorest and most marginalized communities."
In all, Gaffney and colleagues estimated that there would be 30,440 fewer abortions in the 13 trigger-ban states as of March 30, 2023, with 76,612 fewer abortions if the additional 10 high-risk states enacted bans. The estimates boil down to an estimated six additional pregnancy-related deaths annually in the first scenario and 15 in the latter. Additional cases of postpartum hemorrhage were estimated to be 782 and 1,967 in the two scenarios, respectively. And morbidity around the time of birth would increase by 454 cases in the first scenario and 826 cases in the second.

Orthodox Jewish leaders couldn’t convince men to give up their smartphones so they can pay more attention to their families. So the leaders guilt tripped the women into giving up their smart phones. And in doing so the women lost their social media and business accounts that connected them to other women.
Shaindy Braun and her wig business had nearly 40,000 followers on Instagram, amassed over nine years, when she abruptly announced her departure from the social media platform.
“I choose to leave this world of likes, followers and filters,” Braun wrote last week. “I will be leaving Instagram to live in the real world. I want to focus on curating my real life, filtering my thoughts and speech and sending love and likes to the important people in my life.”
Then she deleted her profile, cutting off a major line of communication to clients — and potential buyers — of Sary Wigs, a Lakewood-based company providing human-hair wigs to Orthodox Jewish women in New Jersey and beyond.
She wasn’t the only one: Moonlight Layette, a baby clothing brand, announced it would stop engaging actively on Instagram, directing customers to a WhatsApp number instead. So did Rivka Dayan, a resin artist who makes Judaica products, and others.
Their decisions might have come as a surprise to the brands’ followers — except that many of them had also tuned into two massive gatherings in Newark last week exhorting Orthodox Jewish women to put away their phones and disconnect from social networks.
Nekadesh rallies
“They force themselves to sit through this, being told how evil they are, how decadent they are today with their obsessions with ridiculous things and how spiritually inferior they are.”
Coming a decade after a landmark rally aimed at warning Orthodox men about the dangers of the internet, the rallies were meant to inspire women to spend more time away from their cell phones, according to its organizers. But critics in the Hasidic Orthodox community, including women who attended or listened in via a special phone line for remote participation, said pressure to attend was intense — and that the message was far from uplifting.
“They force themselves to sit through this, being told how evil they are, how decadent they are today with their obsessions with ridiculous things and how spiritually inferior they are,” one Hasidic woman told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on the condition of anonymity because she still lives in a Hasidic community in Borough Park. “And they sit there and they listen to it and they nod and they accept it all and they internalize it.”
Known as an asifa or kinus (Hebrew words for gathering), the rallies drew tens of thousands of Hasidic Orthodox women to the Prudential Center in Newark last week, many transported on charter buses from Orthodox areas such as Lakewood, New Jersey, and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Women with children in the Bais Yaakov network of schools received text messages and letters saying that the school rabbis urged them to attend; one mother told JTA that she was told her children would be expelled if she did not attend the rally, where tickets cost $54.
One rally was in English, while the other was in Yiddish, the dominant language spoken in many of New York’s Hasidic communities. The events, widely referrEd
to as “nekadesh rallies” using the Hebrew word meaning “make holy,” appealed to women’s maternal instincts — a winning line in a community where fertility is prized and women typically have many children and are responsible for their education.
“I miss the great times that we used to have before you got the cell phone that your boss gave you,” a young boy said during a speech at the Yiddish rally, according to a recording of the event. “I miss your sweet smile. Do you remember our conversations, when we used to laugh at our own stories, and not because we were listening to silly jokes on the little black box?”
At the English-language rally, half of the speakers were women, and at one point, the male rabbis who spoke left the arena so the women could sing together. The speakers presented the issue of social media as one where Orthodox women can choose more or less pious ways to engage with the internet. Among the speakers was Rina Tarshish, a rebbetzin and the director of a women’s seminary in Israel who is widely respected in the Hasidic world.
The rally was intense at times, with attendees being told at one point that technology is a manifestation of Satan’s efforts to spread rot in the world, according to a Twitter thread by someone who transcribed much of the event. But the Yiddish-language rally was more strident in tone and tackled women’s participation in civic life offline as well, according to people who were present. One rabbi who spoke even instructed women not to speak on the street, except in cases of emergency.
The event came 10 years after 40,000 Orthodox men were similarly exhorted to give up their smartphones at a major anti-internet asifa at Citi Field in New York City. Then, the message was about insulating the community from outside influences.
Ayala Fader, an anthropology professor at Fordham University who studies Hasidic communities, said what happened next helps explain the latest rallies.”
Men were refusing to give up their smartphones,” she said. “So leadership decided to focus on women and their responsibility for rearing kids and keeping the home and really protecting the next generation.”

Here’s the surprising reason a gay Republican supports a law supporting LGBTQ+ businesses
A bipartisan bill granting state certification for LGBTQ+ businesses in New Jersey is headed to Governor Phil Murphy’s (D) desk. He’s expected to sign the legislation, which codifies a state certification process he put into place by executive order in 2022. When signed into law, the bill will provide LGBTQ+ businesses the opportunity to win funding, contracts, and other initiatives offered by New Jersey state agencies. Women, people of color, and veterans currently enjoy similar certifications offered by the New Jersey State Treasury. Related: LGBTQ+ businesses will soon get a helpful boost in New Jersey It’s not easy being a minority-owned business, but this new law will definitely help. The bill passed both chambers of the state legislature by wide margins. Just 11 lawmakers voted against the measure. Stay connected to your community Connect with the issues and events that impact your community at home and beyond by subscribing to our newsletter. Daily * Weekly * Good News * Bill A3330 was sponsored by Assemblyman Don Guardian (R), one of the few gay state legislators. Guardian faced pushback from fellow Republicans who said the legislation amounted to preferential treatment for white, gay men who don’t need it. “Advocates for this bill claim that members of this community have a business disadvantage that necessitates preferential treatment, but that’s not true. These businesses have no disadvantage over other businesses,” said opposing Assemblyperson Brian Bergen (R). While Bergen was quick to affirm his support for the LGBTQ+ community, he called Guardian’s bill “bad public policy” and a “symbolic bill benefitting virtually no one.” Gay business leaders saw it differently. “People have been waiting not just to be recognized by the state in which they pay taxes and hire employees and provide services and resources. They want to make sure that this is not going to go away anytime soon. As we all know, executive orders can be taken away,” said Gus Penaranda of the New Jersey Pride Chamber of Commerce, who testified in favor of the bill. Penaranda told lawmakers that membership in his organization quadrupled after Gov. Murphy issued his executive order two years ago. “What I’ve heard from the business community is that this certification is helpful for networking, for legitimacy, and for standing out in a highly competitive market,” Guardian said in defense of the bill. Over 130 businesses hold the LGBTQ+ certification already, he said. The gay Republican recounted his own story of using Bob Damron’s Address Book in the 1980s to locate gay-friendly businesses on the Jersey Shore. The book — which was published throughout the late 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s, at a time when many states criminalized same-sex encounters — helped gay travelers find gay-allied businesses and safe venues across the nation. If Guardian entered the wrong establishment with another man, he told fellow lawmakers, he risked being bashed and thrown out. “That type of business today is no longer accepted. It should not have been accepted back then, but today, at this moment, we in the legislature have the opportunity to right those wrongs,” he said. Guardian also had a message for fellow Republicans who claimed his bill would put beneficiaries at risk of being outed. “From a personal example I can tell you this is New Jersey,” Guardian said, “and it was much more difficult to come out of the closet and admit that I was a Republican than it was to admit that I was gay.” http://dlvr.it/T4ZCWm

Building Networks that Empower: How Women Can Create Effective Business Networks
In the realm of business, networking is not just about building a list of contacts—it's about cultivating meaningful relationships that can provide mutual support and opportunities for growth. For women in business, these connections can serve as a springboard to overcome hurdles, achieve professional goals, and pave the way for future generations of women leaders. Today, we'll dive deep into how women can create effective business networks and how such networks can empower them to reach new heights in their careers.
Understanding the Importance of Networking for Women in Business
Research has repeatedly shown that robust business networks play a crucial role in the success of entrepreneurs and professionals alike. It's through these networks that we gain access to essential resources—knowledge, opportunities, mentorship, and support. However, the gender disparity within business networks is not insignificant. Women in business often find themselves contending with male-dominated networks, where access to resources may be limited. As a result, it's vital for women to build their networks proactively, focusing not just on quantity but also on the quality of connections.
Navigating the Networking Landscape
The world of networking can feel overwhelming. It's teeming with networking events, online platforms, and various groups that can sometimes feel more daunting than helpful. For women looking to build their business networks, it's crucial to navigate this landscape strategically. Consider your professional goals and target industries, and identify networking opportunities that align with these parameters. Seek out events and platforms where you're likely to meet peers, mentors, and potential business partners who share your interests and aspirations. The more relevant your network, the more empowering it will be.
Building Meaningful Connections
Once you've identified the right networking opportunities, the next step is to build meaningful connections. Networking isn't just about exchanging business cards—it's about engaging in authentic, mutually beneficial relationships. This means asking insightful questions, offering your knowledge and expertise where appropriate, and maintaining regular contact. Networking for women in business isn't about conforming to an "old boys' club" model; instead, it's about fostering relationships based on respect, empathy, and mutual

Author Name: Marques Lewis
How long have you been writing? I have been writing since 2007. I can finally say that’s a long time.
Did you ever imagine that you would be published one day? No, not at all. In my middle school days, I couldn’t even write a decent paragraph. I knew writing was deep inside of me, but I didn’t want to take the challenge. Thank God, I did.
What made you want to become an author? At the time, I was focused on acting, but my mom got sick and I had to take care of her while my dad went to work. I started to see Zane write Erotica and I told myself I should write about sex because I love it. It was one of my greatest accomplishments.
How long have you been published?  Since 2014.
How does it feel to be published? It feels amazing. When you see someone leave a review or tell you that they purchased your book is an amazing feeling.
Are you self-published or did you go through a publishing company? Why? I went through a company first to get experience in the business. If you don’t have the funds, it can help you in the long run until you get established.
How many books have you written? I have written 10+ books.
What is/are the name of your book(s)?
"Never Settle Never Again"
"The Side Chick Who Turned Into A Wife"
"A Fool For You"
“Detective Dan and The Missing Toy Boat"
"He Cheats Too"
"Dating Jordan"
What genre is it/are they in? I wanted to touch ever genre possible. Drama, Erotica, Romance, Christian, Children and more.
What do you feel will inspire others to never forget when they read your story(ies)? To understand the message in each book. For example, the book might be Erotica, but it will have a message in it. Each genre will have a message.
What's the hardest part about writing a book?  The hardest part is getting to the finish line. You might have your idea of your book from top to bottom, but I can guarantee you that you might change something before you get to the ending.
What's the easiest part about writing a book?  Lol, probably the title. Once you get the title, then you can find out where you are trying to head on writing your book.
Where can interested readers purchase their copy of your book(s)? You can head on over to Amazon or Walmart.
Do you have any future projects in the works? Is there a tentative release date? I am about to work on a Self-help relationship book. I can say Spring 2023 it should be ready.
Do you have any social media sites that you would like to share with my readers? Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and My Website.
