(a relic from the old edit) ;) #the last time ag released a trio they took a 3 year break so hopefully this will be the lineup for a while! ;)

thinking about the public domain is more than a little devastating to me like they’ve literally taken so much from us. the corporatization of art and culture has locked away american cultural heritage for longer and longer periods of time! the original term for public domain was 56 years think about that. almost 40 more years. i hope we all live 40 more years but who knows. and how much of that art will degrade and disappear in the meantime! things are lost every day! truly and genuinely it’s such a loss for the independent artist i want people to be able to adapt things from the ‘60s into shitty plays that they put on at their local rec centers and to make money off of that but we can’t because of corporate greed

#i mean. you can make whatever u want still nobody can stop you #but do you ever feel like we could be exalting in our shared cultural heritage if only we were allowed #not to mention the ability for cheapo paperback copies of things. damn i should go buy one of orlando btw #anyway. new stuff in the public domain is exciting but bittersweet so much has been taken from us #cool b does cool things

I am stealing his hornblowers and possibly also his name... #feeling also large and complex emotions about the fact that I am only going to have space for one each of his copies of midshipman and #commodore... for each of those he had a lovely crisp copy and one that's worn and battered enough that I'm worried I'll break it #if I really open it up and give it a read! and each of them have their virtues and really it's Augh... #howEver. sorry granddad I will give away your copy of hotspur without shame. I have a lovely scratchboard paperback of which I am Fond.

My novel Up With the Star comes out today, Friday, September 8! It features a whole cast of queer characters and is set in an America that has fallen apart and reformed itself into scores of smaller states, some at war with each other, some at peace, some federated, some not. The main character is one of the Nameless, a manufactured underclass produced by one of the largest political bodies on the North American continent. She hails from a small state that was formed by christofascist secessionists around a century before the story starts, and was cast out after her values failed to align with those of her birthplace, in a rather spectacular manner.

After the Iconoclast's violent assassination of the previous leader of a different political body, she's nominated to take his place by the Iconoclast, as well as her friends Conway--an ex-POW who now works in commerce--and Marta--a highly-regarded trauma surgeon at the gladiatorial pits, the home of post-dissolution America's favorite sport, the site of quite a lot of augury and oracular functions, and the main characters "workplace." She takes the job on the offering of being able to spite the people who made her Nameless. Wouldn't it nice to be powerful and respected? Wouldn't it be nice to be in charge, just once?

Great for people who like adult transmasc characters, characters who are struggling with christianity, doctors, scenes about food, estranged families, fictional grandmas, and people motivated by spite, and can tolerate suicidal ideation, blood, violence, christianity, and sex scenes.

there’s definitely people on here who know far more about publishing schedules than i do who could give better ideas of when new content will drop, but my guess (emphasis on guess) is that the ntn paperback will probably be our next look at new content

there was that year long gap between the htn paperback and hardcover publishing, i think? so im assuming we’re waiting about that time again. but im really pulling for another short story to be released independently of that!

if i recall correctly (and i may not be, so someone please correct me if im wrong!!!) but the short story the mysterious study of doctor sex was released on the tor website like, a month before the htn release? and the beginning chapters for ntn were released shortly before the ntn release as well, but obvs all that seems further away to me

im def starved for more new tlt content so i would LOVE to be wrong here and get more content sooner than i expect we will. but on the bright side there’s at least a ton of really good fan content to chew on in the meantime!

Finally happened. After like 8 years, Amazon finally worked out I am not in the US and booted me off the cheaper, more extensive Kindle store 🪦

#no one cares neatoh #don’t @ me I try to avoid Amazon where I can #BUT I live in Australia where books are insanely costly #I live in a small state with few bookstores that don’t have a great range outside of new release bestsellers #and my personal storage situation is dire because I read over 100 books a year #OH and our libraries are rubbish too soooo #sometimes you have to make the sacrifice and buy the $10 kindle book instead of the $40 paperback….

Went to the bookstore again

The height difference is ridiculous.

I think my bookstore did have volume 1 last time but it was so small, I did not notice it. For the height difference, volume 2 was only made in paperback so I bought it like that. However, the first volume was out in 2 versions, this one which is a pocket book and has the pretty art cover and the second which is a paperback but the cover is really simple and it wouldn't have matched the volume 2 cover (and it's not really pretty like the art one in my opinion).
