"Ah, good," said the Patrician. "Now, I would just like to ask one or two questions, if I may?"
Goodmountain nodded.
"Firstly, is Mr. Cut-My-Own-Throat Dibbler involved in this enterprise in any significant managerial capacity?"
"What?" said William. He hadn't been expecting this.
"Shifty fellow, sells sausages--"
"Oh, him. No. Just the dwarfs."
"I see. And is this building built on a crack in space-time?"
"What?" said Gunilla.
The Patrician sighed. "When one has been the ruler of this city as long as I have," he said, "one gets to know with a sad certainty that whenever some well-meaning soul begins a novel enterprise they always, with some kind of uncanny foresight, site it at the point where it will do maximum harm to the fabric of reality." [...]
"What?" said Goodmountain.
"We haven't noticed any cracks," said William.
"Ah, but possibly on this very site a strange cult once engaged in eldritch rites, the very essence of which permeated the neighborhood, and which seeks only the rite, ahaha, circumstances to once again arise and walk around eating people?"
"What?" said Gunilla. He looked helplessly at William, who could only add:
"They made rocking horses here."
"Really? I've always thought there was something slightly sinister about rocking horses," said Lord Vetinari, but he looked subtly disappointed.
Terry Pratchett, The Truth* *For the anon who requested the bit about cracks in space-time from this excellent conversation in The Truth, where Vetinari demonstrates the Ankh-Morpork approach to urban planning.

You don’t “try to start a business” you give it your all or nothing. Businesses don’t fail. People fail their businesses.

Welcome to my blog for the shop I recently opened - ImpeRiCal. Now, you’re surely wondering, “Wtf are you doing marketing the shop on Tumblr out of all the social media platforms today?” Well, first off, I still love Tumblr (despite everything). Second, what I will do with this tiny shop (well, what I want to do) is perfect for Tumblr. What is that? Well…
ImpeRiCal is an e-shop where I create designs and through print-on-demand platforms sell them on different products. I primarily make them for phone cases, but (as you will read on the shop’s site) if you like some design on a different product, that can be done by contacting me and discussing the possibility. The designs are structured into 3 categories:
• Abstract: These are simple designs, nothing too complicated about them. Hence, they won’t have a story.
• Dreamland: These are more detailed and interesting designs that are connected to a story.
• Intermix: Sometimes I end up with designs that are not abstract but I can’t quite put them in a story. They don’t always make good phone cases but can be interesting on something else, even as a phone background.
And now you must be wondering what are these stories I keep mentioning. This is where Tumblr comes into play. Each Dreamland design will be connected to a fanfic or a personal story. Basically, they will be more like scenes and elements of the made-up story my brain decides to share that day. All of these short fics/stories will be posted here, with relevant hashtags so you know what you’re reading and getting. Basically, this Tumblr will be the shop’s personal storyteller ✨
Well, that’s all I have for now. With time I will create more posts and videos (probably uploaded on the shop’s Insta) about how it all came to be and what every little corner of my store (can I say it has corners?) means.
The e-shop will launch in a few days so stay tuned! (Unless you’re reading this after it launched, in which case, hi!) 🤗
Ps. Find the online store and everything else here: https://linkpop.com/imperical

I launched a print on demand (POD) business yesterday because I was ✨bored✨ and honestly, money is nice!
Here's the shop:
Tumblr is the only social I have set up so far!:
@abstractionbyemme
I decided to use Printify because it's free and seems decent! I know it's kinda pricey and there's only like 7 or 8 items but it's a work in progress! I will be transparent and say that I'm aware of the cost of production per product, the shipping (unfortunately cannot offer free), and my profit margins. Having a bachelor's in business and just being interested in business as well, I've always been appalled at the greedy companies that have profit margins in the x00%. Given that, I'm trying to keep my profit margins ≤40% especially considering that there's an automatic tax deduction of 24% taken from my profits.
My first collection is called Shades of Pink and it's sand art, I do make everything for my designs by utilizing my iPad and a variety of apps!
Please enjoy! Feel free to suggest product ideas!
If there's any criticism or critiques, please be kind about it! I know this might not be that well thought out because it was impulsive but I mean it doesn't hurt to try something either!

When it comes to shipping products for your business; you don’t have to do your own shipping. This becomes time consuming and you need to invest as much of your time in growing your business.
Instead of doing your own fulfillment you can:
You can dropship products- this is when the supplier ships the product for you when the sale comes in. You never have to see or touch the product.
You can rent your own warehouse and hire your own staff- this is obviously very costly and should be done when you have a medium to larger business.
You can also use a 3PL. This stands for third party logistics and they are companies that will handle your fulfillment for you when a sale comes in. Your product goes from your supplier to the fulfillment company and when a sale comes in, they ship it for you. You don’t have to see or touch the product.
Same goes with customer service. As soon as your business can afford to hire out, hire someone to handle your customer service. This not only frees up your time, but gives you so much peace of mind because dealing with customer service can be very draining.
Remember that your job is to work ON your business not FOR your business.

Trying to open my own LGS
Quick clarification, what kind of LGS I'm talking about trading cards (Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh), table top RPGs (Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu), board games (not your father's board games, stuff that gets a start on Kickstarter), and Miniatures (stuff like Warhammer 40,000)
So ever since I picked up card games in my teens and set foot in a Game Store. I knew that I wanted to do something like it. But for me it's not about making money (though being my own boss and such is a plus) what I want to do is create a space for people of all ages to gather and bond and have a great time. Because I never had that growing up. I had two or three friends that we sometimes had a sleepover and stayed up playing video games. Never did I go out and make friends, it was hard for me.
I wanna change the fact that there isn't a place for people like me and kids growing up like I did. I want a place for a community of people to be able to buy what they want exactly, and then play with their friends or make new ones. I know me personally I hate giving my money to places like Walmart for these kinds of products cause it almost feels a little hollow. Cause I'm just getting product with no interaction with a store owner or other customers saying "Oh hey you like that game too!"
I am at square zero, I've just been digging around online like a dog trying to find that bone he buried last spring. I'm taking notes on what I can and trying to figure out what I need to do and the steps to get there. I have read many posts all over the place, but I figured it was time to go in and ask myself to get the specific answers I've been looking for.
