This might be one of those "putting too much thought into some basic blue curtains" situations, but I've been thinking about it a lot. Enjoy the following sleep-deprived ramble (and continuing ramble in the tags)
I feel like the line "and if I finally break the rules, I will know of my world, I'm the ruler" means so much. We only ever hear it twice ("cool as I think I am," and "dirty dudes must die"), even though the first part ("If I can finally be cool I will know that I'm not a loser") is played numerous times, and has a LOT of importance placed on it. Dirty Dudes is obvious by explaining how Grace is falling to what she would consider satanism in the name of God, but I personally see the first usage as kind of meta. Peter is singing the song about him and Stephanie, right? Well, in the other two Hatchetfield musicals, there are both couples that slowly fall in love over the course of the runtime. And you know what? They all die at the end. Hatchetfield dies at the end. It's because the Lords didn't know the main characters personally, or else weren't asked, and they were on the bad guy's side.
The Lords in Black are very much the bad guys. They feed from people's wants and their desperation to reach fulfillment (filling the holes), and actively cause destruction to cause more want and desperation. So "breaking the rules" by making them join the good guys side, just for once, causes the nerds to be known and protected so long as they pay the price. And they do. And that's why Nerdy Prudes has a good-ish ending. The second final song "The Best of You," as weird as it is, is entirely focused on Pete and Steph, who broke the rules by not dying, and became the "Rulers," homecoming king and queen, as a result (I know it wasn't explicitly stated they were king and queen but it wasn't a plot point at all so let me pretend lol).
So basically if Grace Chastity weren't there, they would have failed and Hatchetfield would have died again.
EDIT while listening to the music again I found another half-sung form of the lyric in "cool as I think I am (reprise)" that mashes the two verses together ("If I can finally break the rules, I will know that you have to do it"). This still goes with my thought process though since it's literally during the point where the normal rules of the couple dying are broken. They are literally breaking the rule where they had to sacrifice themselves. Thanks Max thanks Grace you saved the world from a disaster you caused <3

Concept: Ben 10 Alien Force AU where everything is the same except Kevin is just insanely passive-aggressive towards Ben for the entire duration of the series
“No worries Tennyson, I buried the hatchet ages ago! That bad blood between us? Water under the bridge! I mean, it’s not like you got me stranded in a prison dimension for five years and never bothered to try and rescue me or even check up on me or anything like that! Of course I’ll help you save your grandpa! After all, what kind of hero just leaves someone for dead in the hands of vicious aliens that proceed to inflict them with severe psychological damage that will take decades to fully heal?”
I feel as though that would be a whole lot more realistic of a thing to happen, especially as the Tennysons realistically react to Kevin's passive-aggression with their own Tennyson brand passive-aggressiveness, though it might not be the most enjoyable trio to watch, which would be basically the complete opposite of the previous trio of Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max-
Ben and Kevin would have more personal beef (something about stealing a way too high security unreleased but already boxed game vs making two trains crash into each other for free money), but Gwen never particularly liked Kevin in the first place way back when, so even if Ben and Kevin settle their differences with admitting what they had actually done wrong (probably fighting over the more petty shit or arguing about the worse shit they did), Gwen doesn't have much basis to forgive Kevin because ultimately she did not get involved. Which I mean I don't think would be that great to watch nor that great to create a team around, especially in the earlier more mystery focused side of AF-
And this is the obligatory mention of @kariachi for introducing the idea of the Ben, Gwen, and Argit trio- you can have passive-aggressive Kevin (and the Tennyson's appropriate responses to him) all you like if Kevin takes Argit's role and Argit fills in that missing main trio slot in his stead. Depending on where and how he's introduced you could totally have a fake-out trio of the Tennysons and Magister Labrid, you know, with the assumption that someone's filling out Max's 'experienced plumber' slot. Not sure how convincing that might be but oops, I did a little ramble lmao-

Hello, im wehaveagathering from my main blog, im kind of obsessed with your hockey poetry edits and I think your blog is great! I guess I kind of have a dumb question, where do you find the images you use for your edits? Did you say Getty in your tags?? I’ve gotten into making icons recently (and i have ideas for poetry edits hrrrghhh) but it’s hard to find high res images. Thanks for your time and I hope you have a nice day :)
first of all thank you so much 🥹 and second that’s absolutely not a dumb question!! i do pull a lot of images from getty and i’ll also download pictures from sports articles (i got a lot of the hugheses pictures from online access articles, for example), or sometimes from instagram/facebook/twitter if an account is public. freely admitting that i am not technologically advanced? inclined? in the slightest here, but the image editing software that you use and how you import/export photos with it makes a difference in the quality of them as well!
if you haven’t seen them yet, i would also recommend checking out @simmyfrobby @national-hockey-lesbian @hauntedppgpaints @tapedsleeves @starscelly and @captainbradmarchand’s blogs just off the top of my head!!! they might know more places to get high res images and also i love their work 💕🫶

Okay, but what if Mc couldn't come back because they got injured, etc. Something that was out of their control? Would they still feel betrayed or more angry at whatever or whoever hurt mc?
Oh definitely more angry towards what/who hurt MC. They will exact vengeance if it can be done. But also...
MC could have not left to where they could never follow to begin with.
Kinda spoilery below the line, but again, this is really all hypothetical since it will not be an option in game. But if you want to imagine some really bad angst for your OCs later on... who am I to stop you?
As selfish at it would seem at first glance... they would feel like they were placed very low on MC's priorities and that their suffering was not as important tot them. Because this person that claimed to love them, actively chose to leave them trapped in a hellhole they've been stuck for some 1500 years, when there was a real possibility they'd never return.
There's a bit more to MC getting out and coming back than just finding a simple way in and out. The RO would take a leap of faith, and trust MC with the livelihood of their entire people, that they are responsible for... fae who are desperate, dying and worse, on the off chance that MC would somehow find the way back again, when they were completely lost in the first place when they got there. MC would know all this and would have also been a whiteness to the deplorable state the fae are in, and still make that choice. While this might not be fair to be put on MC's shoulders to begin with, they'd still be playing Russians roulette with the fate of an entire dying race.
I think just the mere decision to leave, all considered, would put a dent in their trust, even if MC somehow magically came back the same day.
It's like accidentally stumbling upon a group of stranded people on an island and then deciding to sail home first, not knowing when or how to actually get back... instead of staying there and gathering resources for a while in order to take them all with you. All the while knowing that some of them were occasionally walking into the ocean to their death because they couldn't stand living there anymore . Like, sure, there's no real obligation to help them... but don't expect to be welcomed back with open arms after initially abandoning them.
ROs would eventually still care for MC, but there would always be a stain on their relationship and would always question just how much they mean to MC. Because, at the end of the day, while they'd be very sympathetic towards MC's feelings and worries, MC would have always, knowingly, gambled with both their freedom and their life.

I hate the thought of Daniel taking a reserve role. A senior with his skills and experience living in the simulator is a crime. However, I hate the thought of him driving for Williams and Haas even more so I’ll shut up :)
