some disabled & neurodivergent side of tumblr safety & etiquette:
dont: dump negativity on positivity posts. if you dont relate to a post, it's either not aimed at you, or you're not ready for its message (and thats ok!)
do: make your own posts expressing how you feel; your feelings still matter and your blog is just the place to express them.
dont: speak over people with different experiences than yours, or speak on things you don't know about.
do: have an open mind and educate yourself on things you don't know much about - uplift the voices of people with direct experience.
dont: send unprompted vent or advice asks to blogs that dont have that as a stated purpose.
do: check out a blog to see if they take vent/advice asks; if you dont see anything, ask if you can vent/seek advice first - or add a disclaimer at the start of your asks, with TW.
dont: engage with triggering content. dont post your triggers publicly either, my lord.
do: engage with content that helps you express, process, and cope with your health. take breaks when you need them, too.
dont: treat bloggers like celebrities or like they owe you a response.
do: treat bloggers like regular people; respect boundaries.
dont: demonize ANY condition. including paraphilic disorders, sexual/moral OCD, personality disorders, addiction, or factitious disorders
remember: we're all dealing with our own stuff, and we're all in this together. if anyone acts as if this isnt true, they're probably not in a good place themself.
(feel free to add on!)

Apparently this needs to be said so
Forgetting things is morally neutral! Memory issues are morally neutral!
You're not a bad person if you...
forget things quickly
forget people
can't remember entire stages of your life
can't remember important things
can remember some things very well and forget other things all the time
can't remember things (or anything!) about your interests
forget to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, etc
forget to reply to texts
remember things and immediately forget them again
can't remember birthdays, events, etc
frequently answer 'I forgot' to questions
can't retain new information
forget things you used to know
only remember things when it's too late
have vague, distorted and/or unreliable memories
depend on others to know how an event you were in played out
have other symptoms that are worsened by memory issues and vice versa
... and anything else I might have missed!

Shoutout to people with "weird" special interests. Shoutout to people who can't make a job out of their special interests. Shoutout to people who are seen as "unproductive" because of them. Shoutout to people that are "too old/young/anything" for their special interests.
You and your sp/ins matter, and you deserve to spend as much time as you please with them, despite them not being "useful". Time spent with a special interest isn't waisted time.

there’s nothing wrong with needing to use gps directions to get everywhere.
it doesn’t mean you’re “stupid”, it doesn’t mean you’re not trying hard enough or not paying enough attention. it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong or taking the easy way out. it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be allowed to be independent.
yes, even if you need it to get somewhere you’ve been a million times before. even if you need it to get around the town you’ve lived in your entire life. even if other people think you should be able to go without it.
if you wouldn’t judge another disabled person for using certain tools that let them live more independently, don’t judge yourself for doing the same.
and never ever let someone else shame you into going out into the world without the tools that allow you to feel safe.
these tools exist to be used, so use them if you need them. there’s no shame in needing help.

i think "is intersex a health condition" and "is neurodivergence a disability" are questions that both have the same answer: it depends, based on the person's experiences, and how they feel about them.
it's okay if it is a health condition or disability, and it's okay if it isn't. people deserve access to what they need to be happy and as healthy as possible - and to not have anything forced on them. everyone is different, and that's amazing.

what matters most about your interests is that they make you happy. whether other people find them productive is irrelevant. you don't have to produce anything. you are not a machine. your interests aren't for others. your interests are for you. do what makes you happy.

Reminder: It doesn't matter if you're "behind" from others. It's alright if you feel like people have accieved more than you. Life isn't a race of who can do more in their first 30 years. Hell, I see teenagers saying they have failed or that they aren't good enough, when things like that are not in the least important. You have so many years infront of you, no one's chasing you down. Don't beat yourself up.

Shoutout to everyone suffering from depression that still managed to get up today, even if it was just to use the bathroom or get some food. That's a wonderful achievement.
Shoutout to everyone suffering from depression that couldn't manage to get up today. It's okay. You're still alive. You're still breathing. That in itself is a huge achievement and I hope with every fibre of my being that tomorrow is an easier day.
Shoutout to everyone suffering from depression that managed to go today without self-harming. Whether you're on day one or one hundred, it's still something worth being proud of and I hope you treat yourself for it.
Shoutout to everyone suffering from depression that has relapsed today. I'm so sorry. Please remember to take care of the wounds. Clean them, run them under some cold water, do whatever you can to ensure that they don't get infected/worse. Recovery is a long journey and while I know it must feel like you've taken a hundred steps back, this is just a small set back. It's okay.

Reminder that neurodivergent is not just having ADHD and/or autism.
It's anything that impacts the way a person thinks and experiences the world.
When we talk about neurodiversity, we are talking about anyone that identifies with that umbrella. Our experiences as neurodiverse people are unique, not just because there are many different sets of symptoms that fall under the "neurodiverse" umbrella, but because we are all unique and experience the world and societal reactions to our neurodiversity differently.
If you are neurodivergent in any way I hope you know that you are welcome in neurodivergent spaces and that your voice is so important. And that this post is for everyone but especially the people who feel like their experiences go unheard. you are just as valued in these spaces as anyone else and I encourage you to speak up if you would like to!

Traumatic psychology/psychiatry experience flag
[PT: Traumatic psychology/psychiatry experience flag /END PT]
A awareness flag for those who experienced trauma with psychology or psychiatry, and also those who don’t have trauma with it but bad experiences. This is in honor for people who tried to cure their neurodivergence but psychology or psychiatry harmed them in some way, people who had terrible experiences with therapy, and etc.
I decided to make this flag, because we aren’t represented and our experiences are almost always invalidated and ignored even by other neurodivergent people! We have our own right of choice to not recover or seek other ways to heal ourselves, whatever makes us more happy!
Tumblr media
[IMAGE ID: The image features a lilac and white checkered or grid pattern filling a square-shaped frame. At the center of the image, there's a white square that contains the psychology symbol. The design conveys a sense of simplicity and elegance. /END ID]
Lilac and white are typical colors of healing, it represents our internal or external alternative healing methods. Psychology symbol with an X in it shows that we’re tired, we don’t want to be in a harmful environment anymore
Please this is a coining blog, discourse isn’t allowed.

ANYWAY if you have adhd/autism, are nonbinary, transmasculine, or part of another typically infantilized marginalized group, and you intentionally adopt a sharp, spiky "fuck you" attitude and presentation - you're AWESOME.
you're not a baby, you're not confused, you know damn well what you're doing and your voice deserves to be heard. you're not cute, you're not adorable, and that doesn't make you any less part of your group.
you're a fucking badass, that's what! keep doing what you're doing!
