New Blog:  Busy as a Bee
This month is the ‘Busy as a Bee’ month for me!
There is so much work to accomplish at work…that is a funny way to put it, but very true.  This is the season that every special education teacher is haunted by.  It is hard to write plans for students, especially those students who are making uneven progress or worse yet - little progress across the subjects.  One of the challenges is the state system that we have to use to write our documentation.  The problem is it is cumbersome and not user friendly.  It also goes down for a weekend at a time to be updated, taking away valuable work time.
There is a bunch of work to be done here at home.  This last weekend in the driving rain was a craft fair.  A number of my items were sold and now I need to remake them or at least make others so my table stays full with choices.  This is easier said than done as each item takes time to crochet and sew together.  Don’t get me wrong, I love making the animals and I usually can work on them when baseball is being played. It is the time factor for me!
The last work and it really isn’t work is my reading list.  There are so many books and NEVER enough time during each day to read!  I have seven books on my TBR (to be read) net galley list and another 4 on the library list and that does not include all the books in all the series I try to keep up to date on.  I used to have more time, but it eeks away.
What is causing my time to eek away?  The computer, phone and iPad and their apps and games.  I am going to need to be stronger about avoiding them!
Elise sent in a review of a book by David Rosenfelt called Good Dog, Bad Cop.  There is also a new interview by Matthew Quirk and others about their new Netflix series.  The Night Agent series is now able to be seen on Netflix, which deals with corruption and the government.  The interview is fascinating and really makes you want to carve out time to watch the series.
Well it is off to bed for this bee, as she needs her beauty sleep before tomorrow!  Thanks everyone for reading!

Malice by Heather Walter | Review | 2021
Malice by Heather Walter | Review | 2021
*I received a copy from Net Galley for an honest review* Page Count: 496 Genre: Fantasy Age Category: Adult Year Published: 2021 My Thoughts: I initially thought this was young adult but apparently this is actually an adult. I’m not sure why it’s adult. Other than maybe the “steamy” (if you want to call it that) scene nothing else really screamed adult to me. The book read very much like…

The Mary Shelley Club by Goldy Moldavsky
Tumblr media
New girl Rachel Chavez is eager to make a fresh start at Manchester Prep. But as one of the few scholarship kids, Rachel struggles to fit in, and when she gets caught up in a prank gone awry, she ends up with more enemies than friends.
To her surprise, however, the prank attracts the attention of the Mary Shelley Club, a secret club of students with one objective: come up with the scariest prank to orchestrate real fear. But as the pranks escalate, the competition turns cutthroat and takes on a life of its own.
When the tables are turned and someone targets the club itself, Rachel must track down the real-life monster in their midst . . . even if it means finally confronting the dark secrets from her past.
I loved this book so much! Rachel experienced a traumatic experience in her past and has moved to a new school to make a fresh start. She doesn’t really fit in at her new, super preppy, fancy school so Rachel is really surprised when she stumbles upon a secret society called the Mary Shelley Club, a group of like minded individuals who love horror movies. Will this be the best thing that’s ever happened to her? Or the worst?
This was the YA thriller I was looking for. Just spooky enough to make your skin crawl a little as you read.
Goldy Moldavsky was born in Lima, Peru, and grew up in Brooklyn, where she still lives. Her novels include the New York Times bestseller, KILL THE BOY BAND, NO GOOD DEED, and the upcoming THE MARY SHELLEY CLUB (Henry Holt Books, 2021); her love of 80s movies, 90s boy bands, and horror flicks hugely influences her work. She can be found on Twitter and Instagram @goldywrites.

🌺 #wrapup 🌺 QOTD: How was your January reading? I actually loved the majority of my books this month. I also did read a lot too which I’m happy bc I really need lower my TBR. I got into two massive books through buddy reading’s and I had a lot of fun. Also, I’ve been obsessed with the soundtrack of Encanto! It gets stuck in my head so easily. Much to my friend’s dismay. 😂😂 🌺 The Shadow Between Us - Tricia Levenseller - 5⭐️ - I actually read this bc one of my besties started this and was loving it so I started it! 🌺 Swimming Lessons for a Mermaid - 5⭐️ - this was such a cute wholesome Webtoon 🌺By Any Other Name by Lauren Kate - 4⭐️ - I received this from Net Galley and the romance this bloomed into 🥰 🌺Howls Moving Castle Film #1-4 - 5⭐️ - I love Howl’s so I’ll love everything from this. 🌺House of Earth and Blood - 4.5⭐️ - the only reason this is not a 5 is bc the torturous beginning but I cried so much and I loved this. 🌺Worst Neighbor Ever - 3⭐️ - I get that this was a short story but like the reasoning behind him being the worst neighbor and his reasoning made no sense at all. So it was cute but it just makes no sense. 🌺Breaking Dawn - 4.25⭐️ - I hate Jacob. He can choke, as eloquently as was said by my bestie. 😂 honestly why is there a POV. The only reason I liked it is bc of Seth and kinda seeing more into the wolf life. Bella Bella Bella. Look this book is just fun. I had fun bashing and just being in the world. 🌺Siege and Storm - TBD - I’m leaning towards a 4. I still have about 140 pages left but I’m hoping my other bestie will catch up (you know who you are girl! 😂) so we can finish, but whatever happens happens. 😂 🌺Tags #januarywrapup #siegeandstorm #leighbardugo #breakingdawn #stephaniemeyer #houseofearthandblood #crescentcity #sarajmaas #howlsmovingcastle #filmcomics #theshadowbetweenus #tricialevenseller #bookstack #books #booknerd #bookaddict #bookrecommendations #bookstagrammer #booklover https://www.instagram.com/p/CZaFumqvwaP/?utm_medium=tumblr

Book Review:****/5
I am a huge fan of Sara Desai. I saw this book on Net galley and was sadly rejected. However, I immediately added it to my TBR list. I waited and waited for this book to be published and then waited longer for it to come available on Libby (There were so many people in line.) It was so worth the wait.
Zora is a personal injury lawyer who has dreams of working with celebrities, however she's not one to fit into the typical lawyer setting. She's the outspoken, colorful, passionate girl and the singles table to her families' Indian events. Jay is an ex- military security specialist and the CEO of his own security company. He is a work alcoholic who is strict and organized. However, when the two are forced together Zora sets out to find him his perfect match in exchange for his introduction to celebrities. Will they be able to keep things professional or will they learn that sometimes your perfect match isn't who you might expect?
Desi does a great job at creating chemistry between her characters. I absolutely loved Jay in this book. I do get a little irritated with the whole he likes her, she likes him, but they don't know how to let each other parts. I always find it troublesome in all books. This book does have some steamy parts for those of you who might not like that sort of thing. It has just the right amount of Banter and a Hail Mary Pass as well (Who doesn't like that?).

Hello readers ❤️ How are you?? . ❓ #qotd Your most expected releases of the month? . I had lots of them 😱 but I'll pick 3: the Italian release of Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House and Neil Shusterman's Scythe, and last but not least Beach Read by Emily Henry that has been released today 😍🙌🏻. . I had the chance to read the arc thanks to Netgalley and I've loved this book SO MUCH (you can find my complete review on Net Galley and Goodreads @booksalwaysinbag ). I was expecting a light reading and I found much much more. I love Emily's writing style, she has the power to make the character's feelings crawl into your skin and that's not something so common. I've laughted, thought a lot and cried so much but it was worth❤️. It's a bittersweet novel for people who love writing. I can't wait to read some other books of her! (if you have read them, please, suggest me!) . ~beautiful Thomas Cresswell candle by Flickthewick ❤️I miss their boxes so much 🥺 . . 🇮🇹: Ciao lettori!! Stra consigliato assieme a You deserve each other! Qualche casa editrice che me li pubblica entrambi anche qui in Italia? . #thomascresswell #stalkingjacktheripper #sjtr https://www.instagram.com/p/CAYS-Eygt_M/?igshid=1j9y9r3l7tc2d

Hello fellow boozie readers!
If you haven’t heard about #Booziebookathon, it’s our week long readathon we host every year! It starts on July 27th and runs to Aug 3rd. Check out all the details here!
Sam’s Update:
What a whirlwind of a week. It felt like I didn’t get much reading done, but apparently I did. It’s also Medieval-a-thon!!! Check my TBR here.
What Sam finished this week:
Medieval-a-thon Cape: Kingdom of the Blazing Phoenix by Julie C. Dao: This is the follow up to Forest of a Thousand Lanterns. I thought I’d like this more than the first one but i just didn’t. This felt very collect-the-objects to me, and I just could NOT get into it.
Medieval-a-thon Crown: The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang: This was so good. So so good. So many content warnings, but so good. I don’t want to say too much here cause Drunk Sam wants a shot at it first.
What Sam’s reading now:
Medieval-a-thon Breastplate: The Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi: Listening on audio, and I’d forgotten that Will Wheaton narrates it. I am not very far, but I already love it.
Medieval-a-thon Daggers: Eclipse the Skies by Maura Milan: I’ve been dying for this since Ignite the Stars and I am v v excited. We were selected to be a part of the blog tour for this by Caffeine Tours so I gotta gets my reading innnn.
Ginny’s Update:
For once this is a pretty short list of things (Sam you’re welcome? There aren’t too many things to find). I might have fallen back into playing an ungodly amount of Skyrim so the reading has been cut a little bit short. That being said, I still managed to knock out a few things. And of course bought some new books because I have a problem and that problem is the book tree in my room is looking lopsided from my pulling random books out of it to read and I need to rebuild it. If you’re going to rebuild something you might as well make it bigger!
Currently Reading:
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi: I’m like two pages in so I don’t really know whats going on yet but Sam loves this.
Beyond the Empire by K.B. Wagers: My review for the first book just came out (see it here!). This is the third book in the series and very short synopsis, Hail has to continue being her badass self.
Finished
Midas Flesh by Ryan North: This was billed as a comedy and while parts of it are funny this book was dark as fuck! I was not expecting it. Still the book is interesting, the fallout of King Midas turning everything to gold was really interesting to think about far far into the future. The artwork was great. I thought some of the characterization felt rushed and for whatever reason I wasn’t super drawn into the story.3/5
A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian:This book was cute, all about people trying to figure out how they can live their lives in a society where they don’t really fit without giving up themselves. I really enjoyed the end and I liked the dynamics between so many of the characters. Hartley’s friends/house people were delightful, and I loved Sam’s brother and bestie. 4/5
Minda’s Update:
You may have heard the news—I’m pregnant! So all the booze is staying on the shelf for the foreseeable future
Tumblr media
and you’ll only get Reviews for Two
Tumblr media
What Minda finished:
Tumblr media
Gravemaidens by Kelly Coon – Once I got started I could not put this book down! It was so so good. My girl Kammani made some mistakes, but she really came to a reckoning before it was too late. Stay tuned for the official review and thanks again to Net Galley for the ARC!
What Minda is reading now:
Tiger Queen by Annie Sullivan – Wasn’t enjoying as much as I thought I would, so was jumped by Gravemaidens. Still liking it though!
All the Water in the World by Karen Raney – An ARC I picked up at ALA dropping 8/6 about mother-daughter duo overcoming some major challenges.
Linz’s Update:
Oh just all the things happened this week, and I drank more than I meant to but at least some reviews got done? Just one more week til vacay…
What Linz read
The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal: Debut historical thriller and also a love story. I got an advanced copy at ALA and I LOVE this book. I’ve already lent it to a girlfriend. Review def to come.
The Heartwood Crown by Matt Mikalatos: Got an ARC from BookCon for this sequel to The Crescent Stone. For me, this was definitely a different book from Crescent Stone, but I really enjoyed it and I love the direction the series is taking.
Bunny by Mona Awad: Kinda like Mean Girls, but Lindsay Lohan is a grad student in an exclusive writing program, and the Plastics are far more into developing their Work and the Process than wearing pink on Wednesday. Oh also it’s real dark and weird. Review to come as well.
What Linz is reading now
I finished Bunny yesterday and I’ve spend this morning repeatedly staring at my bookshelf trying to figure out what to read now and what to hold on until Booziebookathon. I need a librarian. And a nap.
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
Sam, Melinda, Linz, and Ginny

DROPKICKromance-- Book Review
DROPKICKromance– Book Review
Genres: poetry Why I read it: I’ve followed the author on social media for a long time, and added this to my TBR the second it was announced. Then I found it on Net Galley and whatddya know, my finger slipped and I clicked to get an ARC 😛 Who I’d recommend it to: Poetry lovers, poetry newbies, the broken-hearted and people looking for hope…actually I think I’ll be recommending this to just about…

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I wanted to give you an update real quick on some additional content. I just recently signed up with NetGalley for ARC reads!!
If you are not familiar with NetGalley, they offer pre-published review copies of books. The more you read/review, the higher your “score” will be with publishing companies and they will send you books to read/review and you can request certain books too! It’s important to get those read and reviewed prior to the publishing date so they can help push sales.
I will still be posting my regular Monday/Thursday review posts but due to the time sensitivity of Galleys, I will also be intermittently posting my reviews of those. They will be posted as I finish the books so there’s no set day of the week in mind yet.
Happy Reading!

TBR | January | 2019
New year, new set of challenges to complete. But this year I’m hoping to be able to do more reviews that aren’t Net Galley.
I’m a little worried I have too many books on my TBR since I’m barely reading lately. But I’m hoping since it’s the new year I might get back into reading again.
Review:
Day Of The Accident – Nuala Ellwood
The Flight of Cornelia Blackwood – Susan Elliot Wright

Net Galley Week | TBR | 2021
Since I’m behind on Net Galley books, like always, I decided this year that when I don’t have too much on my TBR/a readathon I would dedicate a week to just Net Galley books. I’m hoping this will help me get through some of the books. Date: 12th – 18th This week I’m going to pick three books. One is a couple years old that I should have read long time ago. Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve…

Net Galley Week | TBR | 2021
Date: 1st – 7th March I decided since I didn’t get extra rolls this month I may be able to fit in some Net Galley books since I’m always trying to catch up. I have four books for this week. I’m hoping I can manage that. Only around 210 pages per day to complete. The Last Secret You’ll Ever Keep by Laurie Faria Stolarz. Down Comes The Night by Allison Saft. Dangerous Women by Hope…
