Hey tumblr, could you help me find another artist who's had a radial nerve injury to their drawing hand? I've likely got a long recovery ahead of me and I'd really love to hear how someone else managed through something similar.
Also anyone who's had to relearn to type after this sort of injury, I would love to hear your experience too.
Please share around, it's apparently a rarer thing and I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone else who's dealt with something like this yet.
also: tumblr won't let me reply to posts right now? so repost or send me a message if you can, thanks so much

Axon Rebuilding
Unlike the neurons in the central nervous system (CNS), those outside the brain and spinal cord – the peripheral nervous system (PNS) – can regenerate their ‘electrical cable’-like fibres (axons) after injury. Understanding how this happens could be of huge benefit for treating a range of conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury and others in both the CNS and PNS. Researchers have now discovered in mice that the levels of a protein called RSK1 are higher after sciatic nerve injury. Forcing neurons to over-produce RSK1, caused an increase in two proteins called BDNF and IGF1 that helped regrow the neuron’s axon. Here we see a ‘normal’ neuron (top left) and longer neurons with increased levels of RSK1 (top middle and right). By inhibiting either BDNF (bottom left), IGF1 (bottom middle) or both (bottom right), the regrowth of the axons was impaired, suggesting RSK1 is essential for regeneration of these signal-transmitting projections.

I actually was not born physically disabled. I was abled in my whole childhood, even played very active sports like soccer, basketball, and softball.
I became disabled only a few months ago, when in a freak incident I randomly lost the ability to walk after a year of chronic pain and fatigue. It was traumatic enough that a new alter was split to handle it. Since then, I've been through dozens of tests and scans, and doctors are still scratching their heads.
Now, I experience extreme pain while walking, and i frequently have to sit down, often on the dirty floor when theres no benches (there often isnt). I visibly limp. I can't stand long enough to do the dishes or cook. The pain is nerve pain, which radiates from my feet and thighs. It has since spread to my arms and wrists. I am trying to get a wheelchair currently, and I start physical therapy tomorrow.
I'm still figuring things out. I've come to understand how abled designers and architects are failing to uphold bare minimum accessibility standards, and how much doctors suck at physical shit, let alone psychiatric shit which I've dealt with for a while.
I'm hoping to be a good advocate for disableds and to include everyone in that. If I ever say something stupid, tell me!

Don't Let Overactive Bladder Control Your Life
Overactive bladder techniques like sacral neuromodulation or percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation can help le urge to urinate, which can be accompanied by involuntary leakage of urine. OAB can significantly impact a person's quality of life, but treatment options are available. This article will discuss the symptoms, causes, and treatment options for OAB.
Symptoms of Overactive Bladder
The main symptom of OAB is a sudden urge to urinate that is difficult to control. This can occur at any time, including during the night, and can happen even if the bladder is not full. Other symptoms of OAB may include:
Frequent urination (more than eight times a day)
Involuntary leakage of urine (urge incontinence)
The need to urinate immediately
Feelings of urgency or pressure in the lower abdomen
Waking up more than once during the night to urinate (nocturia)
Causes of Overactive Bladder
There are several factors that can contribute to the development of OAB. These may include:
Aging: As we age, the muscles in the bladder can weaken, making it harder to control urination.
Nerve damage: Nerve damage from conditions like multiple sclerosis or diabetes can interfere with the signals between the brain and the bladder, leading to OAB.
Urinary tract infections: Infections in the urinary tract can cause irritation and inflammation, leading to OAB symptoms.
Bladder abnormalities: Conditions like bladder stones or tumors can cause irritation and lead to OAB symptoms.
Treatment Options for Overactive Bladder
There are several treatment options available for OAB. These may include:
Lifestyle changes: Simple changes to your diet and fluid intake can help to reduce the symptoms of OAB.
This can include limiting caffeine and alcohol, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding foods that irritate the bladder, such as spicy food.
Pelvic floor exercises: Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can help to improve bladder control and reduce OAB symptoms.
Medications: There are several medications available that can help to reduce OAB symptoms. These may include anticholinergic medications or beta-3 agonists.
Nerve stimulation: Techniques like sacral neuromodulation or percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation can help improve bladder control and reduce OAB symptoms.
Surgery: In some cases, surgery may be necessary to treat OAB. This may include procedures like bladder augmentation or urinary diversion.
Conclusion
If you're experiencing signs and symptoms of OAB, it's miles crucial to talk together along with your healthcare company to talk about your remedy options.

Good morning I’m thinking about the von Karmas and gunshot wounds. Contrary to popular belief, in most cases you don’t really want to take out a bullet unless you absolutely have to, since digging around in there causes more soft tissue damage and opens more possibilities for infection. One of the few places that bullets are almost always taken out, ironically, is the shoulder. Shoulders have a lot of important junk in them, and over time, the bullet crushes, tears, and destroys what’s around it, leading to nerve damage, loss of function in the arm, chronic pain, etc etc. It's kinda like shoving a rock in a really delicate machine and leaving it rattling around in there. Even if the wound itself was minor, the act of leaving the bullet in just steadily makes things worse If a bullet is removed from a non-complex gunshot wound to the shoulder, it’s not uncommon to get all your function back with minimal pain within months. If you don’t, the bullet just quite literally tears you up inside for the rest of your life And ain’t That a fun metaphor

feeling depressed and another shitty night sleeping
feeling depressed and another shitty night sleeping
Feeling depressed and another shitty night sleeping I had a shitty night sleeping. I woke up around 0130 and had to pee. I stayed up for about a half hour then went back to sleep after drinking a half a bottle of Gatorade. I shouldn’t have done it, I know, but I did and then I woke up two hours later to empty my bladder again. This time I was awake. I had a bad dream just before waking me up and…

34 Natural Vitamins, Minerals & Herbs Proven To Help Neuropathy Pain
As there are side effects from taking too much zinc, make sure you do not exceed the dose on the label of your supplement. It helps to protect against heart disease, helps you to absorb iron, and lowers your total and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. It also protects against cancer by combating free radicals and supports immune function. Evaluating the impact of vitamin B6 from many of these trials is challenging because these studies also included folic acid and vitamin B12 supplementation. Nerve Rejuv Ingredients may be able to help certain conditions, but if you are experiencing nerve damage, you should check with your doctor before starting any course of treatment. Carnitine helps nerve fiber regeneration, and increase vibration perception of nerve cells. Citrulline improves the nerve blood supply and protects nerve cells from ischemia. A good bacterial balance in the body can help the body cope with stress, improve mental health, and improve cognitive performance. Its supplementation is proven to relieve neuropathic pain by rectifying the existing deficiency. Dr Lee and Dr Chen explored the role of vitamin D as an analgesic or painkiller in diabetic neuropathy. In autoimmune mediated neuropathies, these autoantibodies attack the nerve tissue such as myelin sheath and other proteins that influence brain and nerve health. Systemic autoimmune conditions can affect both central and peripheral nervous system and in case of an attack on the peripheral nervous system peripheral neuropathy is the most common complication. Esteghamati et al. demonstrated that participants with less 20ng/ml of vitamin D had high chances of developing symptomatic diabetic neuropathy and so were patients with vitamin D levels greater than 40ng/ml. Anecdotally, many people struggling with anxiety have noted that they have seen a decrease in their anxiety levels after taking B-Vitamin Complex. There is not yet any research indicating that B-Vitamins reduce anxiety. Niacin can actually be derived from tryptophan, so consuming niacin itself may not even be necessary to ensure you're not deficient. Niacin plays a role in your skin health, conversion of energy from carbohydrates, and possibly cholesterol production. It's unclear if there is any benefit to an improved immune system on anxiety. Stress itself weakens the immune system as a response to a release of stress hormones. Neurotropic B vitamins play crucial roles as coenzymes and beyond in the nervous system. Particularly vitamin B1 , B6 , and B12 contribute essentially to the maintenance of a healthy nervous system. Their importance is highlighted by many neurological diseases related to deficiencies in one or more of these vitamins, but they can improve certain neurological conditions even without a deficiency. These studies have found that short-term intake of OBG helped with glycemic control, however, this effect grew weaker with long-term intake. Because oat straw extract contains oat beta-glucan, it may help to slow diabetic neuropathy progression thanks to controlling blood sugar levels. In a study conducted on feverfew flower and leaf extracts and a rat model of diabetic neuropathy, feverfew flower extract reduced pain to a similar extent as many antihyperalgesic drugs. After adjusting for other variables, the researchers concluded that vitamin D deficiency may be involved in the pathogenesis of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is a water-soluble vitamin found in dairy, meat, fish, and dark-green vegetables. Animal research has found that riboflavin deficiency can lead to neuropathy.

The Role Of Neurotropic B Vitamins In Nerve Regeneration
Preliminary research has found that glutathione may help with chemotherapy-related neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, and neuropathy of unknown origin. Several small studies have found that glutamine may eliminate or reduce the severity of neuropathy in people having chemotherapy. However, researchers need to carry out further research to confirm these findings. Participants received a single oral dose of ALA each day, and researchers compared them with a placebo group. Diabetes is an obvious and well-known catalyst for peripheral neuropathy as well. A lesser known example is the sudden reduction of blood pressure due to anti-hypertensive prescriptions, which is nonetheless perhaps one of neuropathy’s leading causes. There are many different types of nerve pain in different areas in the body and it usually affects older people, although there are cases where it has affected people of all ages. When nerves are run down or have pressure exerted on them, are inflamed or compressed, this can also cause pain, which has the potential to be incredibly sore. It seems unlikely that boosting the immune system will reduce stress levels. Many believe that vitamins and nutrition are the key to improving anxiety. Calcium ions bridge the gaps between nerve cells by traveling from one to the next, helping to pass on a nerve impulse to specialized cell receptors. Calcium also has a role in cell repair should a nerve cell become damaged. Made in the USA, this natural and organic hemp seed oil is proven to reduce a host of mental problems such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression and sleep disorders. It has an amino acid called L-theanine, which is used for treating anxiety and high blood pressure. For example, in a 60-day study of 64 people with chronic stress, those in the supplemental group reported a 69% average reduction in anxiety and insomnia, compared to 11% in the placebo group. The absence or erosion of the myelin sheath makes the nerves vulnerable to damage, which eventually can lead to conditions such as peripheral neuropathy. Trigeminal neuralgia is another type of nerve damage that's related to a vitamin B12 deficiency. Those with this condition experience sudden, electric shock-like pains in the fifth cranial nerve, which occur repeatedly and unexpectedly. In modern times, Feverfew Extract is also taken to help treat irregular menstrual cycles, fevers, asthma, and a host of neurological disorders. Nerve Rejuv is procured from green oats, before they are roasted, and is widely available throughout the western world. Its popularity as a health supplement is rooted partly in its properties as an antioxidant, but is also based on a widely-reported calming effect.

Schwann’s Way Forward
Growing myelinating Schwann cells – cells of the nervous system that insulate neurons with a fatty coating called myelin – and neurons together in a dish is a common technique in the neuroscience lab for studying eg. repair after nerve injury. Here, a new co-culture method incorporating microfluidic chambers that enables the different cell types to be separately manipulated, reveals Schwann cells break up, ingest and clear debris

Had a psychotic episode in which I was convinced that I wasn't feeling pain and just walked around with no limp or leg favoring despite my severe ongoing nerve injury. Which made things worse for my recovery because my mother decided that I did not need a wheelchair due to my ability to walk perfectly for a very short time. (Despite a medical professional recommending wheelchair use for my situation).
It is never too overdone to tell people that mobility aids don't mean the user is incapable of mobility. Because apparently people still don't know.

As usual, Andy Roddick gets it.
(Comments from right after Andy Murray's match, so they didn't know about the injury at that point.)
"Since 2019, with the hip issue, he will tell you he hasn't been the same. But the guts of him have been the same. Even if he used to turn around these matches, and lately he hasn't been able to - the drama's still there, the fight is still there. In a weird way, I think this kind of compromised version of Murray almost adds to his legacy, the way he's grinded out the last four, five years. I certainly respect it, I don't know that I could've done it. I don't know if a lot of us could've done it, so props to him if it is the last time we see him in Miami. Hell of a run, pal.
