You sighed as he finally quit pacing long enough to sit down and catch his breath. Tilting his chin up to meet your gaze you were met with his watery eyes.

You moved your hand up to cradle the side of his face. “You can’t be everything to everyone all the time. You can’t baby. It’s not fair to yourself.” When he shook his head and leaned further into your hand you knew you were slowly getting through to him.

“You’ve been touring for the better part of the year Harry, it was bound to catch up to you at some point. And you know that you can’t help when you get sick. You know that.”

He shook his head before you even finished your sentence, he sniffled and coughed and you grimaced when you heard how rough his voice sounded.

“Should be able to push through, I should be able to push through it and perform. Let so many people down, so many people went out of their way to travel here. And I-,” he sputtered and coughed before he could finish.

You sighed again and ran your fingers through his damp hair and ran your eyes over his features. He was so frustrated with himself and the entire situation, he had been doing everything he could for three days to make sure he could keep the rest of the shows on track. But after days resting in bed and pushing fluids and IV’s and check up’s daily with his doctor everyone had come to the same conclusion, he couldn’t go on tonight no matter how desperately he wanted to.

He worked so incredibly hard every single day, behind the scenes and in front. No one put as much heart and passion into everything they did as Harry does. He wore his heart on his sleeve and radiated when he was on stage, a fact that wasn’t lost on anyone that was lucky enough to be in the same room as him.

You watched torment rack through his features again as he started coughing again.

“Look at me baby please. You have more heart and character in your pinky than most people do in their entire bodies. You go up there every night and give it your all, no one doubts where your heart is when you’re up there. They love you and they will understand. You can’t do it all, all the time H. I know you want to but you have to let yourself breathe. Take a minute and let yourself breathe. It’s alright sweetheart.”

Tears tracked down his face as he nodded his head along with you, letting your words sink in. He turned his lips into your wrist and pressed a kiss to your skin.

You rubbed his back and he leaned forward to catch some air, you breathed him in as your heart broke for the millionth time that night at how upset he was.

Tears trickled in your eyes but you blinked them away, now wanting to make him feel any worse at seeing you upset.

“Go back to bed H, you need to rest before it’s time for more medicine. Let’s go baby.”

He stood up on shaky legs and interlocked his fingers with yours, “Will you get in with me?”

You smiled watery eyes back at him. “You already know the answer to that, let’s go.”
