A loud smack is made on the table. Shouts and bickers proceed as another friend joins the group. The cafeteria packed with students as conversations are made about anything one can come up with. And while more students filed in, Jeno stayed back. Back leaning against the wall as he waited by your classroom. Why must you be such a slow packer? And while he waited for you, he’d simply nod back at whatever friend would walk by and greet him. Ignore the girls who tried to grab his attention because his shoes were much more interesting to look at. That is until your classroom door finally opens and there you walk out. Then it seems as no one is far more important than you, who he gives his undivided attention. A goofy grin on his face immediately appears as you blow a strand of hair out of your face. Disheveled by having to quickly shove your things in your backpack.
“Okay I’m ready.” You grab his arm as you two walk over to the cafeteria. Heart eyes are practically shaping his pupils the more Jeno admires you. ‘Why can’t you be mine already?’ A question he asks himself a lot more frequently the more he stays as your best friend. You had a hold on him like it had on his heart, and for the small walk it took for you two to get to the cafeteria, he silently imagined that you two were a couple. A pair walking to lunch while the others gawked, a proud smile on Jeno’s face as he was finally able to show everyone he got the girl of his dreams. But it could only ever happen in his head, for as soon as you two enter, you were already walking away from him. A quick wave as you run off to meet up with whatever guy you were seeing. Chris? Jonathan? Jay? Jeno lost count on how many guys you’ve dated or why you date the assholes. But with a slight grimace, he waves you goodbye, grabs his lunch and walks over to his friend group with a defeated sigh.
Picking at his food, he couldn’t help but to check up on you. His cracking heart seems to immediately patch up when he sees your smile widely and a giggle coming out of you the more you converse with your friends. Only for it to crack all over again when your boyfriend wraps an arm over your shoulder and kisses your collarbone. Too close. God what was happening to him? Why is liking someone this painful? Picking at his food soon turns into stabbing whatever garbage the school served on his plate with hatred. A stab for the unrequited love, a stab for the constant hurting, a stab for never getting the girl of his dreams, a stab for his heart. Getting tired of playing with his food, he pushes the tray away and decides to try and participate in whatever discussion the boys were having.
But it seems he wasn’t the only one feeling down because of their love life. “You good Mark?” His friend says nothing. A frown on his face as he watches from afar. Jeno now notices that his cousin wasn’t around. Wasn’t on his friend’s lap like usual. Looking forward, his head stilled. “Who’s that?”
“Eric, don’t know the last name don’t care.” Mark says sharply as he grips his phone in hand and continues scrolling through his Instagram. “Well this Eric, don’t know the last name don’t care, guy seems a little too close to my cousin. Is he like an admirer or something?” Jeno can’t seem to remember who he was. Then again, his family was never really involved with his cousin’s, maybe it’s the different views they have. Maybe too many differences, who knows. To say Eric would be a guy his cousin would hang out with is hard to believe. Maybe for her parents, but never her.
“Old childhood friend that I only found out not too long ago.” Mark huffs as he looks up at his girlfriend yet again. For a split second Jeno saw his captain’s face light up when he met eyes with her. Is that how he reacts when he sees you? Does his face light up as bright as his life does? Does he really look that pathetic in knowing he’s gained just an ounce of your attention? Groaning, he runs a hand through his hair and sets his head down. A slight thump on the table as he tries to hold back the urge on not looking for you. Mark’s presence was suddenly lost beside him, but he didn’t have the energy to look up and ask. But his head did rise when he felt a hand on his back.
“You seem sad?” A fake pout was shown on the cheerleader’s team captain. Puckering her lip and getting unbelievably closer to him he clears his throat in slight discomfort. “I’m fine.” Shaking her head, she runs her hand up until she reaches his hair. “You seem frustrated…want to talk or maybe…” leaning into his ear, his hands turn into fists as he becomes livid at the words that are whispered in his ear. “Mmh?” She runs a finger along his sharp jawline. He couldn’t think of anything. Why his head went blank, who knows. And yet while he sat their completely shocked, you sat across with a scowl on your face.
“Y/n? You listening?” One of the girls in the table spoke to you. Wendy, she wasn’t exactly your friend. Simply one of the many girl friends of your boyfriend Anthony. You had tuned them out long ago. Your eyes couldn’t stop glancing over at the Jock’s table. More specifically, the table in which your best friend sits at. The boy you can’t seem to forget your stupid crush about. The arm that rested around you just felt heavy and a nuisance. A weight you want to shake off and get away from. Forced laughs and smiles but silently yearning to be with your best friend as he’s the on one who really brings you joy.
The words getting caught in your mouth, your peripheral vision picking up on Cherry’s subtle advances on Jeno. How long were you staring for? You don’t know. But you look away in panic when Jeno catches you staring. Someone snaps their fingers at you, and you finally realize where you were at. “Huh? What did you say?” The table chuckles, somehow that was funny. Somehow you were amusing just by the littlest things you say. You know it’s not legit though. Many friend groups you were apart of, and you know when they’re genuine or not. Even the boy you’re dating.
“What’s got you so spaced out?” A red head sucks on her lollipop as she speaks to you. Shrugging your shoulder, you go to speak when you feel the world around you crack. A hand tugging at Jeno’s shirt, two pairs of lips smacking right against each other as a few others around whistle them on. The friend group turn around to see what’s going on.
“Yeah Cherry and Jeno!” Some other jock yells as ooh’s were made. You couldn’t breathe. It seemed your heart was being squeezed to death and the more you tried to calm yourself down the more it hurt. Getting up abruptly, you grab your things. “Sorry guys I have to pick something up from class. See you!” “Alright bye!” They waved you off. Anthony didn’t bother to stop you. Then again it’s not like he really cares you were his girlfriend. Like most other guys, he just wants the privilege to say he can pull girls. Shoving the doors open as the wind blow past your face, inhaling deeply you walk off quickly. Series of words flowed through to head, ‘don’t cry’ ‘you’re strong’ ‘not here at school’
Why must you like your best friend so much? Why can’t you move on from him? Dating guy after guy and it can’t seem to work. How pathetic you feel to wish he felt the same way. How no matter how hard you try to change your appearance you still can’t turn his head. Did you not have the ideal body? Was it because you weren’t popular enough? Not attractive?Getting into the bathroom stall, you feel the tears begin to pour. A sob wants to come out but you shove it deep down within. A hand covering your mouth as the bathroom door is opened and a loud group of girls come in. “I can’t believe you did it! You kissed the Lee Jeno!” One of them squeals. The cheerleaders of the school. “About time, he’s never been interested in anyone. How did you manage to get him to finally loosen up?” Another asks intrigued.
A makeup bag is set on the sink. Lipstick twisted up as the red is smeared on the team captain’s lips. Shrugging her shoulders, she fixes her hair. “He wants me. He just needed a push to get what he wanted.” Her friends squeal as one by one they leave until you were the only one inside. Jeno wanted Cherry. He would never want you, and for that you have to come to understand that. But no matter how hard you try to repeat that in your head, more tears pour. When the bell rings, you force the tears to come to a halt. Rubbing cold water in your face and cover up the swollen eyes with makeup. Keeping your head down as you go to your next class reluctantly.
“Second tardy.” Your teacher says as she lets you in the class. Simply nodding your head, you make your way over to your seat. Passing by the beaming boy whose life just got better when he sees you’ve made it to class, only for it to fall when you don’t even make eye contact with him. Hood on and eyes on your paper the entire period class. While others wrote, he couldn’t stop staring at you. Were you okay? The one time you did look up, he sent you a smile in which you never saw and went back to staring at your paper. The end of class, the end of the day. While you didn’t want to spend another second with the boy you love, the boy who can’t see how much he means to you. You still walked with him. You still let him take you home like he’s always done. Jeno didn’t know what to say, what to ask you. But knowing you let him to continue driving you home, he felt that maybe the two of you were still okay.
“Jeno!” Turning around, he tenses when he sees Cherry. What was she doing here? What she did at lunch was already humiliating enough, but now? Wrapping herself around his bicep, tugging him in which he awkwardly tries to get away from her. “What are you doing?” “What do you mean? I need a ride home and…can you be a gentlemen and give me a ride?” “I can’t.” Raising a brow, she looks up at him with the same fake pout.
“But why not?” “I’m already taking someone home.” “Oh yeah? Who?” “Y/n…” turning around, his heart stopped when he sees you were gone. You couldn’t have left, not without telling him goodbye right? This ride home was suppose to comfort him, tell him that maybe you just weren’t up to speaking for the last period of the day. “I don’t see anyone. Now come on, my dad doesn’t like it when I get home late.” Interlocking her fingers with his, she drags him to the parking lot and into the direction of his car. Ignoring the red Mini Cooper that pertained to her. Shoving her car keys deep in her jeans as Jeno unlocks his car and she settles in the passenger seat. Turning on the ac as she unties her hair. Looking over at Jeno with a sly smile. But Jeno doesn’t notice her second intentions, he only notices you walking to your boyfriends car. Getting in with your head tucked down and the sound of the engine revving to speed away.
Jeno arrives home with a sigh and slumped shoulders. Kicking off his shoes and tosses his keys wherever. Dropping his backpack as he heads up to his second bedroom. Not wanting to be at his house for a while, he groans when he hears lewd noises come from Yangyang’s room. Right. He forgot he was bringing his girlfriend around to ‘hang’. Shoving his AirPods in, he scrolls mindlessly through his phone. Your contact coming up once or twice. He wanted to shoot you a message, but what could he say? He wanted to hang out and finally ask you what was wrong. He wanted you in his bed and become your eyes and ears for a few hours. He wanted you. But nothing was sent, and with a groan. He turns up his music as the banging from Yangyang’s walls get louder and shuts his eyes in hopes to doze off.
His phone went off. Quickly sitting up to look at his phone, he furrows his brows when he sees a random number he didn’t have saved. ‘Meet me by the lake in an hour ;) - Cherry’ to say he was disappointed was an understatement. Turning off his phone as he lays to his side, he hopes to take a small nap with the thought of you.
“I got it!” You exclaim, rising yourself from the bed. “Got what exactly?” Your little brother asks you through a mouth full of ice cream. Large head phones only pulled away from his ears so he can hear you better. Getting killed early in the match for the umpteenth time, he now sits in his gaming chair hearing you pour your heart out. Laid out on his blue comforter covered bed, snacks piling his desk and bed as you two decided to have fill your stomachs with diabetes. “If I can’t be like them, I must join them!”
Spinning his chair around, he gives you a confused look. “I’m sorry, what were you even talking about?” Groaning, you inch closer to the end of his bed. “Jeno! Pay attention Felix!” Huffing, he goes back to stuffing his face. At least three times a week does he have the same conversation with you pertaining to this said boy you call your best friend. He’s met him a handful of times, only reason he’s not closer to him is because of how much you hog the poor boy. But at least he’s gotten to play a few rounds with him and from what he’s gotten then, he doesn’t seem so bad.
“Jeno is into confident girls right? Ones who aren’t afraid to create a crowd or to stand out and I’m well, none of those things. I mean I’ve tried to become popular, put myself out there heck I wear pencil skirts now even though I’m practically dying to get back to wearing jeans.” “I don’t get it, I thought friends are suppose to like each other for who they are-“
“Yes but in this case I want him to like me, like me.” Felix eyes you as he lets you proceed. He may be fifteen and the only worry in his life are video games but he does know having to change yourself for someone isn’t exactly the right thing to do. But how can he tell you that when you’re so hopelessly in love with your best friend and everything you’ve tried has ended in you crying in your room because once again, your plans didn’t end up how you wished they would.
“So?” “Today, Cherry…she uh kissed him.” You wince at the memory of today, a sting still present in your chest. “But I got to thinking and I realized that, she is everything Jeno likes. She’s confident, self assured and has everything she’s always wanted heck even has the world kissing the very ground that she walks all over.”
“I don’t understand.” Felix shakes his head. Eyes widening when you grasp his cheeks until his face is smushed in your hands. “I got to be like Cherry!”
“…You got to be a bitch?” Letting him go, you stand and begin to pace around his room. “No! I mean popular, attractive and just overall confidence. I mean come on she gets whatever she wants and isn’t afraid to get it. I could never do that.” Groaning, Felix turns his chair to face his pc again.
“Man I miss the old you.” Yelling out a loud ow when you smack his head, he rubs the throbbing spot and tugs the headphones back over his ears. “Dingus.” You mutter under your voice and make your way out of the room. You were sure your plan will work, I mean what else do you need to do in order to gain your best friends attention? How else will he finally see you the way you see him? You were sure it would be exactly the reason Jeno and you will leave the friend stage.
“God she’s driving me insane.” Jeno exasperates. His team mates sat around him, eye bags evident as his hair wasn’t neatly combed. A patch of his hair slightly perched up, feeling a hand come over and push his hair down. He looks over to see Ten nodding. “Much better.” Sighing, he sits up and grabs his bottled water even when he protested.
Taking a swig of it, Yangyang arrived at their table. Even when the sun was still rising and only cascading a bit of light at them. His hickies were still prominent. “Had fun last night?” Ten smirks at him. “Fun?” Jeno snorts, “That’s an understatement, wouldn’t shut the fuck up. oH BaBy!” Jeno mocks his friend, a slap to his bicep he winced slightly and glares at Yangyang. “Don’t get all prissy just because you didn’t get some.” He smirks proudly, not shameful in showing everyone his dark marks his lovely girlfriend gave him.
Laughing, Ten shakes his head. “Don’t get too cocky Yangyang now that you got yourself a girlfriend. Remember when you were in the doghouse? Nine months without getting laid!” “Aish!” Yangyang hushed his best friend to shut it. “Oh yeah? And what about you! I don’t see you with any one recently?” “And who says I’m not seeing anyone secretly?” Jeno lifts his head to look at his friend. “Are you?” “Well not yet..”
“Oh my god.” Jeno shakes his head. “No but seriously, what’s going on with you? Who were you talking about a few minutes ago?” Ten asks him. “Cherry.”
“Cherry?” Well that was a surprise. Has Jeno already moved on? Nodding his head, he props his face on his palm. “I met with her last night.” “What?! Really? I thought you couldn’t stand her?” Ten asks him shocked.
“Yesterday was different…” Jeno begins to proceed, the boys oblivious to the watchful eye whose been attentive to their conversation the entire time. You didn’t mean to, obviously not. If anything you came to school a few minutes before the bell rang just so you can catch a few moments with your best friend. Oh how you wish you didn’t. You feel your heart break as soon as her name comes out his mouth.
You couldn’t believe it. Cherry was able to turn his head so fast. So you really didn’t stand a chance at all? The muffin in your hand that you planned to give to him, the one he always loves receiving from you was suddenly smashed as you fist your hand. Hurt evident on your face. Scolding yourself to not cry, you look down at your change of outfit. Way past your comfort zone and isn’t exactly comfortable but it’s what you notice the popular girls wear. A revealing crop top with tight jeans that fit everything just right. Shaved until not a single hair is in sight, makeup done nicely and hair? Out of this world. Accessories that really popped your outfit out with matching shoes Jeno bought you. Waking up at four am wasn’t paying off already and you try to not lose hope really, but how can you when the first thing you hear when approaching your best friend is the very girl you envy?
But hearing Jeno talk about meeting Cherry last night has left you even more motivated to change his mind. Turning around, you don’t wait to hear the rest of his story. Instead, you throw the crushed up muffin in the trash and head to your first period.
Fashion Nova
The website read. Scrolling down and seeing all the latest fashion clothes, you’re amazed by all the beautiful clothes and even more by the price.
“Jesus, 39 dollars for a shirt?”
Hearing you mutter lowly under your breath, you fall oblivious to the empty seat next to you now becoming taken. The chair gets pulled back with a loud scraping noise. Ears twitching by the god awful sound. Too focused on filling your checklist, you are one of the few not working on your ceramics project. Clay covering the tables but the only clean spot is your space. “Hello.” A shy voice speaks, perking your head up. You grin at the new face you come across with.
“Oh hello! And you might be?” “Oh I’m new,” she greets you with her name. Shaking your hand even though no regular high schooler would do such a thing. “May I sit here?” “Yeah of course!” Nodding, she proceeds to take the seat next to yours. “So, out of town?”
“Country actually.” She responds, smiling you nod. “Ah figured, you are just glowing. You must be from somewhere sunny like Australia right?” Chuckling she shakes her head. “I’m from the states, I lived in Rhode Island.” “The small state?” “You know it?” She says shocked. “Why wouldn’t I?” You giggle at her. Shrugging, she sets her backpack on top of the table. “Most people in the states forget Rhode Island is even apart of the country.” Laughing, you nod. “I may or may not be a geographical fanatic.”
“Oh really? Would you like to travel sometime?” “Duh! Oh! How I’d love to visit other countries. I mean heck I barely even leave the city. Like look at Dubai. Wow ! what a beautiful city I’d love to visit. All of United Arab Emirates really…Sorry, I’m ranting aren’t I?” Chuckling she shakes her head. “No worries, so what are you doing if I may ask.”
“Oh! Well, I’m...shopping.” “At 8 in the morning?” She chuckles, laughing you nod. “Why not? Fashion Nova is giving out discounts so, best get to them before I’m too late.” “Well you must really like shopping because you look great.” “Thank you! I don’t know I don’t really dress this way and so I’m feeling kinda self conscious-“ “Oh don’t! You look great!”
A short silence falls upon you two, looking around in wonder as it seemed everyone was working on different projects you freeze and turn over to her. “You have no idea what we’re doing right?” Shaking her head, you laugh and put away your phone. Shopping can wait.
“Hey.” You hear a voice says soon after leaving your first period. Looking up to seeing Jeno standing there before you, you can’t help but smile wifey at him. “Wow…you look um…” Falling short on words, he scrambles to think of the perfect to describe how you look right now. “Pretty.” Winwin’s voice can be heard from a few feet away. “Gorgeous.” Ten follows. “Beautiful, go with beautiful!” Yangyang adds in as well. “Good!” Jeno finished his sentence.
Your small smile falters at what was suppose to be a compliment? “Good…?”
“That boy is gonna die a virgin.” A voice mumbles before walking away.
“No! Not good I mean you do look good, you look great! It’s just that I didn’t want to say anything out of respect or something- you know I didn’t see you before class, did you arrive late to school again?” He asks you nervously. Desperately trying to ignore his now forming sweaty palms. Cheeks becoming pink the more he becomes flustered. Giggling you decide to let it go, “Something like that.” You chuckle awkwardly, the sudden reminder of why you avoided him this morning. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, why do you ask?” “Oh well, yesterday you kinda left out of no where-“ “Jeno there you are!” A loud voice shouts excitedly. Smile falling as you watch Cherry jog over to him, arms wrapping around his mid waist with a grin on her face. Her friends behind her as they watch adoringly at the two. Looking down at her interlocked arms, he turns to look at her. Giving her a forced smile, Jeno tries to put some distance between them. “Cherry? What are you doing?”
“What do you mean silly? You can’t get rid of me so simple, not after last night.” She giggles. Heart dropping, another hurtful reminder that Jeno wasn’t yours. Only a simple friend and nothing more. Cheeks begin to turn a slight shade of pink, taken aback as Jeno didn’t expect Cherry to show up and nonetheless say something that can be taken so out of context, he turns to look at you. Hopefully you don’t think anything of it, if anything about to get ready to clear his name but instead he deadpans when he watched an arm get wrapped around your shoulders. “Hey babe.” Anthony smirks down at you. “Oh, hey Tony.” You force a smile believes me enough to have Jeno’s heart stinging again.
“Didn’t get a call from you last night. Upset with me?” “Why would I be?” “I just thought you found out about me and Wendy. You know it was just a one time thing and nothing else happened right?” Moving away from him you glare at him. “What?” “What?” He asks you equally as confused.
“You cheated on me?”
“Uh oh, awkward…” Cherry mumbles loud enough for everyone to hear. Giggles from her friends as she sends them a smile she’s trying to force back. Still wrapped around Jeno, she doesn’t notice the fists he’s making as he glares daggers at the boy in front of them. “It was just a kiss. It was harmless and it didn’t mean anything.”
Shaking your head you scoff at him, eyeing him disgustingly. How you even went out with the guy was unknown to you. “We’re done.” You simply say before walking off deciding you’re not going to waste your time and air on a pig who didn’t deserve it. Scoffing he begins to raise his voice. “Oh come on baby! I said it meant nothing, why are you making it such a big deal?!-“ looking over to the source of the shove received, he glares at Jeno who’s returning it right back to him.
“What’s your problem man?” “You’re my problem.” “Jeno, what are you doing? Let’s go.” Cherry tries to convince him, “Yeah how about you listen to your cheerleader and go fuck off.” “Fuck you Anthony.” Cherry snaps at him. “Already did.” He winks at her causing her eyes to widen. Jeno looks between the two of them. Gasping she shakes her head. “Jeno don’t listen to him.” Not even caring what the two of them were doing in the first place, he scoffs and turns to face him again. Seeing Mark a few feet behind Anthony, a serious look on his face as he realizes what was going on between the two of them. Shaking his head, silently demanding him to not do a single thing that can jeopardize their spot at nationals.
Anthony still in his face and instigating for him to do something, Jeno walks towards him. Taking a few steps back, he gets shoved harshly by Jeno’s shoulder colliding into him. Watching him walk away, he doesn’t go after him and instead shout that he’s a pussy. A proud look on his face, he looks over at Cherry and her friends only for them to give him disgusted looks and irritated huffs. Walking away in the other direction, “Let’s go girls.” Cherry demands before leaving him standing there. The students that continued to walk by not giving him a second look as their only goal is to get to their next class.
“Will you stop worrying Jeno, I’m sure she’s fine.”
“How can you be so sure Mark? I mean how would you be feeling if you found out my cousin cheated-“. “Don’t say that!” He hissed seriously. Head turning to face the very same table his girlfriend and that boy Eric were currently sitting at. Clearly upset at seeing how damn close he was to her. Foot tapping the ground so fast the table began to shake.
“Sorry, it’s just I can’t help it. She won’t pick up my calls or texts-“ A loud slam was heard. Looking over to seeing Sungchan had now joined them in the cafeteria. A ticked off look on his face. “What’s up Chan?” Jeno asks him slightly concerned. With a huff, he takes the seat next to their team captain. “I can’t believe it.” “What?” Yangyang suddenly speaks as he appears with an arm around his girlfriend. A warm smile as she waves her hand hello at them. Nodding his head to greet her, Jeno turns his attention back to Sungchan. “Remember that old fling I had over the summer? Yeah she’s here. Indefinitely.”
Shocked, the rest of the table now focus solely on him. “What? What do you mean?” “She moved that’s what! And out of all the countries in the world and the many, many cities humans have built she chose here!” He scoffs and stabs the table with a spork he took from Mark’s tray. Yangyang sat in front of him, his girlfriend sitting on his lap they begin to console him. For what reason exactly? They don’t know yet. Last they heard of her, Sungchan said he ended things with her. Said it was pretty rough.
“So what are you going to do?” She speaks but isn’t responded immediately as Mark suddenly stands up. All eyes on him as they watch him make his way over to his girlfriend’s table. Now noticing the new guy had been approaching from the start. Getting a glance at the three of them now standing in the middle of the cafeteria the group doesn’t hear anything other than a , ‘He means nothing to me’ “Ouch.” Yangyang mumbles. Nuzzling his face in the crook of his girlfriends neck in order to avoid any eye contact from Mark who he’s sure is fuming. But instead of a screaming match or a near fighting, the group watches Mark simply walk away. Dejected and with a look of hurt.
“Poor guy.” She speaks softly before running a hand through Yangyang’s hair. Watching his cousin walk out of the cafeteria, Jeno doesn’t know what to expect. Running a tired hand through his hair, he just wonders how most of the group managed to get themselves in such a troubling position.
Please call me back :(
It was Jeno again. You heart broke after every missed call and text you gave him but you needed to clear your head. You felt humiliated, having Jeno to find out upfront that your boyfriend cheated on you and wasn’t even remotely guilty about it. It was too hard to talk to him, at least right now. You didn’t want Jeno to see you with pity eyes, especially not with mascara running down your face. Luckily you packed wipes with you, it’s something you picked up in class from other girls. Always an extra set of wipes, lipstick, lip palm, hair brush, scrunchie, hair clip, perfume, mirror. And now you understand why. Anything could happen.
Noticing you still had a good twenty minutes left of class you chose to just spend it at the library. Ignoring the looks you receive from the girls that entered the bathroom, you keep your head down and head on over to the library. Hearing your name being whispered as you passed by it didn’t take a genius to know word got around about you and Anthony. “Poor girl.” Picking up the pace, you suddenly feel a tug at your arm. “Y/n.” The familiar deep voice spoke.
“Leave me alone Jeno.” You say as you try to get away from him. “Hey, no stop.” Still refusing to look at him, you feel him inch closer. Finger curling around your chin as he turns your head to look at him. “He’s a fucking idiot, a douchebag who only thinks with his dick and not his brain.” You chuckle, “You could say that again.” Smiling softly at your change of attitude he drops his hand and connects it with yours. “Good, don’t cry for that jerk. He’s not worth it.” “Yeah well doesn’t change the fact that I’m still being pitied and feel like a total idiot.” You try to joke, to fake a smile but Jeno notices the struggle to do so.
“Let’s get out of here.” “What like ditch?” “Yeah why not?” Really didn’t want to stay any longer, and even if you’re parents wouldn’t like the idea that you ditched you thought of it this way, it would be your first time of the school year that you ditched. You wouldn’t do it again.
“Okay.”
“Great I’m Mark now.” Jeno scoffs as he proceeds to climb the tree nearest to your window. Following after you as you open the window to your room. No one was home but security alarms were surely on. You barely managed to avoid the cameras with the help of Jeno, “Y/n please hurry I think I just heard a branch snap.” Climbing in quickly you turn to help him inside. Losing balance he lunges over at you, pulling him in that results with the both of you falling on your soft rug as the two of you lose balance. A slight chuckle emits from his chest as he lays on top of you.
“M’sorry.” Helping you stand up, you let him walk you two over to your bed. Familiar with the comfortable bed, he kicks off his shoes and pats the spot next to him. Joining him, he turns on the tv so that the room wasn’t completely quiet. “I really am sorry about Anthony. You deserved better.”
Me. I’m better.
“It’s whatever. I wasn’t really digging him to begin with.” “Really? So why did you date him?” To gain your attention. “Just so I could say I got myself a boyfriend.” You force a quickly soft laugh, eyes lowering as you begin to fiddle with your sleeves. “Well you shouldn’t feel like you need to get a boyfriend to feel anything. You’re perfect y/n, please don’t change for anyone.” He tells you.
How else will you like me?
Your confession for him rising higher and higher the more Jeno speaks. Shrugging you shake your head. “Seems to be the only way I can get a boyfriend,” “Is getting a boyfriend that important to you?” His voice suddenly turning sharp which takes you aback. “W-Well no but,” Seeing a hint of seriousness in his eyes. “I like…” “Attention?” He answers for you. “Well not exactly-“. Sighing he stands up.
“Is that why you’re so different nowadays? Why the sudden change in appearance?” “Well yes and no…I don’t know!” Frustrated you sit up straight in which Jeno follows suit. “What’s going on y/n?” He asks you with genuine concern written on his face.
“I hate feeling unwanted okay?” “What do you mean? I’m here aren’t I?” “Jeno you don’t get it. Girls at school are so attractive and I’m just…bland. I have to try twice as hard and still don’t get as far as they do! I mean all they have to do is bat their eyelashes and bam! A boyfriend one day and another the next.”
“So having a boyfriend is important to you?”
“No, feeling appreciated is.” Getting out of bed, Jeno walks over to you. “Well then maybe this will change your mind.” “Jeno what are you-“ Soft lips pressing softly on top of yours, your eyes widen. Holy shit. You were kissing your best friend. Your childhood best friend and crush was kissing you! Everything you thought would happen did and more. As cheesy as it is you do feel lightheaded and feel as if you’re losing all sense of control. Instead all you seem to be able to do is kiss back. Were you falling? Were you leaning forward? Who knows because the only thing you seem to notice is how passionately he’s kissing you, hands pulling you close to him almost afraid you’ll run from him.
Tilting his head to deepen the kiss, taking a step forward. A grin making its way on his face as he sighs contently. He’s waited so long for this kiss and man would his best friends be teasing the utter shit out of him if they saw him being all giddy. Pulling away to breathe, he rests his forehead on top of yours. Worry quickly sets in, shit. Did he make it weird?
As the days went by, you and Jeno haven’t spoken to each other properly at all. You didn’t mean for this to happen really. After the kiss the two of you awkwardly laughed it off and watched Netflix like nothing happened. Each time your hands brushed you were quick to pull away. The damn electric sparks still went off. As the week progressed it seemed all of your teachers agreed to pile a shit ton of homework on top of you. And now you’re spending your afternoons either at the library or locked in your room frustrated with yourself for not being able to understand the curriculum.
Any texts the two of you sent each other were simple hey’s and hellos. It’s worrying the heck out of Jeno. Now he doesn’t take you home anymore. He obviously doesn’t know the real reason except for the one his brain made up. You don’t want to be friends anymore.
“Jeno you’re overreacting.” Ten sighs annoyedly as the blue haired boy begins to go on a rant again. “Am I?! I mean tell me Ten, where is she right now because I don’t see her?” He says as he motions to the sea of people in the cafeteria. Groaning he rubs a hand over his face. “She probably got caught up with something.” “For four consecutive days?” “Well why don’t you just text her?” Yangyang asks him. “And tell her what? Hey y/n, why did we suddenly become so awkward with each other? Oh let me guess it was the kiss right? I made it awkward? I’m sorry please forgive me!”
“Well for starters yeah.” Sighing Jeno rests his head on the table. Standing up abruptly he shakes his head. “That’s it, I’m going to go talk to her.” “Good for you! Communication is key if you want a relationship to work.” Yangyang says. The table stops and looks at him. “You’ve been watching too many romance movies.” Jeno says simply before walking off.
“Jeno!” Grunting, he slows his pace but doesn’t stop walking entirely. “Jeno hey!” Cherry says catching up to you. “Hey…Cherry.” He says, his mood lowering. His phone won’t stop filling with text messages from her. Either she needs help with homework or comments of every little thing he posts. What’s to know what he’s up to and what he’s got going on. Even going as far as blocking her but she managed to get a new account and still continues to get into his dms.
“Where you headed?”
“To go find y/n.”
“Oh.”
He knew that tone, and he knew he wasn’t going to like whatever she had to say next. So instead he promoted to get going. “Yeah so I better go.”
“Wait!” About ready to Cherry to fuck off, he turns to her pulling out her phone. “I didn’t want to say anything because I know how close you two are but…” Freezing in his spot when he sees the picture she shows him of you. Sitting at a table in the library, none other than Na Jaemin himself sat right beside you. Way too close and both of you with smiles on your faces. A sting in his chest seeing you so close to the boy he’s always felt second to.
“Why are you showing me this?” His voice now sharp as he looks down at Cherry. “Well I just know how close you two are and I’ve noticed how distant you two have been and I think you have the right to know why she’s so distant…she’s got herself another boyfriend.”
Ouch.
Feeling his throat closing up and the large lump forming, he swallows it down. No, that couldn’t be. You couldn’t be avoiding him because you moved on right? Or maybe you are, maybe the kiss didn’t mean much to you as it meant for him? Was it all in his head?
Oh god how an idiot of him to do such a thing especially when you weren’t in a right state of mind. I mean kissing your best friend when she was just cheated on? Who does that!
Feeling Cherry’s hand rub his bicep he looks down to see her consoling him. “Im sorry Jeno, if there’s anything I can do. Im here for you.” She tells him, batting her eyelashes.
Jeno nods.
“Finally!” You exasperated as you drop your pencil on the table. A snort coming from your right, shaking his head as he begins to pack up. “See? It wasn’t so bad.” “Wasn’t so bad? Jaemin I almost broke a 600 dollar chrome book because of homework. You’re my literal hero!” You grin, reaching your hand to ruffle his hair he swats it away. Glaring playfully at you as you finish packing up your stuff. Like a ton of bricks was lifted from you, you felt as though you could finally breath.
“No but seriously, thank you so much Jaemin. I owe you.” “Don’t sweat it. I don’t mind, especially if it means to see you mad.” Shoving him, he laughs as you walk away from the table. “Whatever.” You tell him.
“Hey y/n..” stopping to look back at him? You wait for him to continue. Watching him suddenly become shy. “I was thinking, what if we get coffee sometime?” “Coffee? I haven’t had some in a while sure!” Suddenly remembering Jeno and the kiss you two shared you don’t think I’d be such a good idea to be doing anything even as friends with some other guy right now.
“Oh you know, I’m sorry I forgot I got this thing going on and…” shaking his head, he forces a smile. “No worries. See you y/n.” “Bye Jaemin.” Feeling bad for doing that to him, you eventually leave the library. The bell had already rung and it left you no time to spend it with Jeno. Deciding to wait after school to talk to him, you make your way on over to your next class.
By the time your last class came, you felt much better. Smilier and happier. Excited to catch up with Jeno and even though you feel nervous to talk about the kiss you overall miss him. Until you notice he didn’t miss you.
Ignoring your presence as the two of you manage to get to class at the same time. Walking in without a glance your way. Heading straight to his seat and not once looking at you throughout the class. Evening taking out your phone to check up on him, he simply ignored your text. Guilt began to creep up on you, yeah you knew you were being rather neglectful but was it really that bad? Was he ignoring you because of this week or because of the kiss?
By the time the period ended he was quick to make his way out. Hot on his heels you knew today he had practice. Seeing him meet up with the other guys by the parking lot, you’re about to make it to him when Cherry suddenly appears. Wrapping her arms around his neck, “Baby!” Pulling him down, she kisses him.
Completely taken aback, you stop in your tracks. Eyes widen as you watch the two of them kiss. When did this happen?
“Ready?” He asks her after they pull away. Nodding enthusiastically she turns to wave goodbye at her friends. Hand in hand, they make their way to his car. Giving a quick see you there to the other guys before getting in. Eyes momentarily meeting with yours before he looks away and gets inside. Feeling your heart break you were at loss for words.
Did the kiss mean nothing to him?
“Cherry and Jeno have been seen together for some time now. Yesterday I heard they were talking under the bleachers.” Feeling a familiar lump begin to form in your throat, you gulp it down and nod. “Well I’m happy for him. He’s a good guy.” You were telling the truth. Yeah it hurt knowing Jeno had moved on or whatever you can call it, was the kiss something worth remembering? Maybe it was a heat of the moment type thing and is why it was swept under the rug. You just wished Jeno would have said something instead of completely blocking you out.
Now you and him don’t even text at all. It’s almost as if he went awol. But you know he’s still alive as you still see him around campus, he’s still in your sixth period, he’s still posting on his Instagram.
How did you manage to lose your best friend?
You’ve never felt more alone than now. You no longer had energy to make conversations with others in class or to dress up. You no longer had an interest for history or felt excited for ceramics. Lunch seemed never ending and the time spent outside of school seems to go by rather quickly and before you know it, you were waking up to go to school all over again.
Now you went to school with a simple pair of jeans and a sweater. Hair up in a messy bun, quiet and reserved as you sat at the very back of the classroom. Eye bags grew larger at the lack of sleep along with the swollen eyes from all the crying. Seeing Jeno and Cherry walking down the halls hand in hand doesn’t make it any easier.
Spending most of the day with AirPods plugged in, attention on your phone you don’t notice a few eyes watching you.
And then, a tap on your shoulder.
“Jaemin?”
Flashing you a quick smile he takes the empty seat next to you. “What are you doing here?” You ask him. “I could say the same for you. Aren’t you like best friends with the hockey players?”
Shrugging your shoulders you shake your head. “Mostly Jeno. His friends would be kinda mines? But not really.” “You two don’t talk anymore huh?” Shaking your head no, he hums.
“Yeah fall outs are hard.” “Sounds like you’re speaking from experience.” Not getting a response from him, you look up to see he was already looking over at his table.
“Wait? Do you guys…?”
“It’s complicated.” He sighs. “Wow.” Nodding, he shakes his head. “That’s not why I’m here.” “Oh really? So what?”
“You owe me that coffee.” Chuckling as you remember his offer you nod. “Yeah guess I don’t really have that other thing going on.” “Yeah no” he laughs as so do you. Standing up, he gives you his hand to take. “So shall we get going?” Accepting it, you get up. “Okay.”
“And so I tried telling her she had gum stuck in her hair but she kept giving me an attitude and before you know, we both managed to fall into the water fountain.” Sungchan explains his story to his friends at the table. Scoffing at the memory of it even though there’s a slight smile forming on his face.
“Why can’t you admit you still have feelings for her?” “Shut it.” Sungchan grumbles as the group of boys laugh at him, all except Jeno. With Cherry on his lap who won’t stop talking loudly to her friends who have now squeezed themselves in their table, his attention wasn’t on her. No it was currently on the only table with a single person sitting on it, You.
He missed you. He wondered about you. He’s noticed the drastic change in you, were you okay? Were you eating well? Sleeping well? He can’t find any update on you because it seemed you’ve shut everyone out. Nothing on social medias, nothing from classmates in your class, not even your brother has updates on you. Just a simple, ‘she’s in her room.’ From him. It’s gotten to the point where he wants to go over to you and force you to eat a feast and sleep like it’s hibernation. He’s not going to lie, he wasn’t thinking clearly when he saw the picture of you and yeah he’s ultimately made a rather stupid decision out of anger. But it was too late, it hurts just to remind himself that he’s no longer your friend, he’s no longer in your life.
So why the fuck is he glaring so damn hard at Na Jaemin who’s currently talking to you?
Na Jaemin, of course out of everyone it had to be him. His archnemesis, the boy who always had to be a step ahead of him. Better than him in every way. Okay so he’s jealous of him, who wouldn’t? He’s smart, perfect grades with the perfect house with a perfect family and a perfect face. Everything about him screamed perfect, an Ace. it’s like there wasn’t a single flaw in him. A constant reminder from his parents that he should be more like him.
If he can’t be like Jaemin, then why the hell is he going to school? Is exactly what his parents tell him. His name never leaves their mouths and never will with how involved his family is with his. Jeno isn’t perfect and his parents will never let him forget that.
And now the ‘perfect’ boy is currently holding your hand! His best friend! His crush is walking away with him! With that damn smile on his face that he so dearly wants to punch. “Jeno, you good man?” Mark asks him. Shaking his head, he gets up abruptly. Ignoring the protest from Cherry. “I gotta go.”
Your time with Jaemin couldn’t get any better. The hours flew by, driving all over the city. Before you knew it, Jaemin was driving you to the beach. An hour away but the view was worth it. Getting to the shore you turn to see the boy had his phone out already, something he likes to do. No matter how much you tried to tell him otherwise, he wouldn’t take no for an answer and took many pictures of you. “Jaemin I look terrible!” You try to reason with him as you take steps back to further distance yourself from the camera. Shaking his head, he chuckles and continues taking pictures of you. “Just one more! Come on you look great with this lighting!” He tries to convince as he takes steps towards you.
“Jaemin no-“ the sudden sound of waves crashing could be heard along with the cold water engulfing the both of you. So high it has you two tumbling down, spitting out the water the second you got a taste of the salt. You’re left shocked and shivering, turning your head to turn at the boy currently laughing his ass off. Splashing him, he gags when the salt water enters his mouth as well. “You’ll regret that.” He tells you simply before going after you.
“Jeno come on man!” Mark scolds him as he managed to not be able to block the puck from entering the net. Glad it’s only practice if not, Jeno would have a much more pissed off captain. Slowing himself down until he stops completely, he takes off his helmet. Panting as he tries to regain his breath. In result to this, the entire game was put to a halt. The blow of a whistle is heard as the boys look over and see their coach about ready to shout their ears off. Mark lifts up five minutes at him and with a grumble, nods.
“Boys go take five, I’ll talk to him.” A chorus of agreements are heard before they skate off the rink. “Jeno what’s up man?” Groaning, he plants himself right on the ice. Sitting down, Mark follows suit. “Is it y/n again? God I told you to just talk to her-“
“She has Jaemin.” He shakes his head, “No point in trying to talk things out with her. It’s obvious she’ll never see me no more than a friend.” “And so for that, you decided to end the friendship all together?” Quiet, he looks down at his lap. “I wasn’t thinking. I was mad and made an impulsive act to cut her off.”
“Yeah well you were an idiot for doing that. I mean from what my girlfriend says, she looks terrible.” “I know, I’ve seen her around the halls.”
“Yeah? Well then if she found Jaemin why is it that I hardly see them together? I mean if she’s this affected about your friendship ending why isn’t she hanging out with him and instead distancing herself from the world? Isn’t today like the first day anyone actually sees them together?”
“Well, Cherry said she saw them together in the library-“
“Oh please, the cheerleader hears someone tripped and makes it seem like they were beaten up, I wouldn’t be surprised if she exaggerated the truth again.” Jeno freezes and wonders if maybe, just maybe that could be true. He didn’t hear you out, didn’t bother to know if you even liked the boy. What if he was only with you to help with homework? The boy is one of the greatest tutors the school has yet, and it did show you’re homework laid out on the table.
“Oh my god, I’m an idiot.”
The end of the week came by very quickly. You couldn’t wait for the weekend, Jaemin and you had made plans to go to the movies. Not exactly a movie you had in mind to watch but seeing how excited he was, ranting about it and going into great details of the plot how could you say no? Besides you’re really looking forward to the slushies the theater sells.
The rest of the week you managed to temporarily for forget about your best friend or ex best friend. Jaemin was a great help given every time you came across him and Cherry, Jaemin managed to come to your aid right on time. There was even a time you swear you saw Jeno approaching you but didn’t, Jaemin approached you with a box of chocolates.
Friday also meant another game. Most specifically, a hockey game. It feels weird knowing this would be your first game not attending, you always made sure to go and cheer Jeno on. But why would he need you when he has a girlfriend now? You had no business going anymore if you’re only reason in going in the first place is no longer valid.
Startled when your locker gets shut abruptly, you look over and see Cherry mugging at you. “Uh…hey?” “You’re Jeno’s ex friend right?” Sting. “Yeah?” Eyeing you up with judgement as she chews on her gum she rolls her eyes at you. “Today’s his game and I want to wear his jersey, you know because that’s what a girlfriend does.” Yep, definitely hurt to hear that.
“But I heard he lend it to you so I’m going to need that back.”
“Oh well I have it at home-“
“Good, wash it and give it to me at the stadium.” She cuts you off, about to make her exit she stops and looks at you. “A little advice, fucking his enemy won’t get him back darling. Sorry to say it but, he’s mine now so fuck off.”
Watching her walk off, you’re left stunned. “Wow.” You hear a voice say behind you, “I know.” You reply not bothering to look at Jaemin. “Eh well guess it’s Jeno’s problem now.” “Yeah now I know why she and Anthony didn’t last.” “Wonder who was worst, her or him?” Laughing you shove him lightly and get going. Feeling an arm get wrapped around you, you feel the smile slowly begin to crumble. You should’ve made amends by now. Accept the fact that you and Jeno are no longer friends and maybe giving the Jersey back would be the closure you need and yet just thinking about no longer having it brings tears to your eyes.
Blinking them away quickly before anyone can see them, you force a smile back on your face before saying goodbye to Jaemin. Not knowing he saw you desperately blinking back your pain.
Getting home and scavenging through your closet you didn’t expect to run into so many of his clothes. Hoodies and sweats he left behind because of how often he’s at your house. The gifts he gave you hidden inside along with the clothes he bought you. By the time you found the jersey you couldn’t stop the tears from overflowing. A knock is heard on the door has you turning your back. “Who is it?”
“Felix! Can I come in?” Wiping the tears away, you inhale and exhale before letting him in. “What a cave, what’s with the mess?” He says as he props himself on your bed, jumping on it that has him bouncing lightly. “I’m uh, looking for an old shirt. I gotta give it back.” Looking around and seeing it’s mostly men’s clothes it didn’t take him long to figure out who the owner was. Your brother doesn’t exactly understand what happened between the two of you but he knows it’s serious given your drastic change in behavior and the quietness the house now is with his absence.
“You going to the game?” “Briefly. I’m actually going to hang out with Jaemin for a bit so I won’t be back until later.” Nodding, he watches you fold the remaining clothes and put them in a bag. Deciding to give them back some other time. “Alright I should get going.” You tell him before grabbing the jersey. Not washed but Cherry could cry you a river for all you care, “Good luck!”
Getting there, the parking lot was packed already. People coming in and out, loud conversations can be heard. In the hallways, there were loud echoes of the people in the stadium shouting. Music playing loudly as you pushed yourself through the large crowd. The smell of pizza, hot dogs and popcorn hitting your nostrils. “Excuse me, sorry.”
Looking around to locate the cheerleader, you see her closest to the rink. Surrounded by her large group of friends, looking a little too comfortable towards a certain ashy haired boy behind her. About to make your way towards her, you feel a hand rest on top of you.
“Jeno?”
Jeno couldn’t stop looking down at his phone. In the back of his head and heart, he hopes you would’ve at least sent him a good luck text. Even more, that you’d show up. But he felt selfish, why would you after everything that has happened between the two of you? Cherry wouldn’t stop talking about wearing his jersey, every thirty minutes it was the same old topic. By now he was far more than irritated. And yet when she mentioned you were going to come to his game and drop off his jersey he couldn’t help but feel his heart flutter but he also felt hurt.
His jersey wouldn’t be the same anymore. His coach gave his team a strict rule that only someone whom they felt closest to can wear it, if Cherry takes it. It’ll lose all meaning. He’ll no longer look out in the crowd and see you cheering him on, he’ll no longer be congratulated by you as soon as you leave the locker room or have an ice cream cone get shoved in his face as a treat for playing a good game.
He’ll no longer see you wear his jersey, and that’s the worst of all.
“Jeno!” Perking his head up, his coach enters the locker rooms. A thumb pointing behind him, “Someone’s here for you.” Feeling excited that it might be you, he frowns when he notices it was Jaemin instead.
“What do you want?” He huffs before making his way back to his locker. Jaemin isn’t affected by his cold exterior. Walking past the other team mates who are undressing and getting themselves into their gear, he leans his shoulder up against the blue haired boy’s locker. “Why are you so stupid?” Snapping his eyes up at him, he scoffs at him. “Excuse me?” “You heard me. Why are you making things much more difficult with y/n.”
“What are you now? Her boyfriend?” He scoffs again, busying himself in putting on his shirt. Please let that not be the case. He mentally crosses his fingers. “I wish to be.” Biting the inside of his cheek, he was sure Jaemin could see the clenched jaw and fisted hands. “But that’s not going to happen.” Jeno momentarily stops and Jaemin notices that. Trying to seem unfazed, he continues to put on his gear. “Poor you then.”
“You love her.” Getting frustrated, he drops his helmet back on the bench. A loud smack echoes throughout the locker that gains a few of the guys attention. “What is it that you want Jaemin? Are you here to tell me you’ll win over my best friend as well?! I mean let’s skip over the fact that you’re better than me in anything else…besides hockey which probably won’t take long before you’re better than me at that too, now you want to rub it in my face that you now have my best friend and lets not forget, the girl that I love!”
An awkward silence overfills the room as Jaemin looks at him boredly. Not once did he flinch at the boy’s words. “She loves you too.”
“What?”
“Don’t give it to her.” “Jeno? What are you doing here? Aren’t you suppose to be on in like two minutes-“ Cutting you off as he smashes his lips on top of yours. Your cheeks begin to feel hot when the people around you began to cheer. Whistles and praises that gain more attention of others.
“Yeah!” One of the guys yell.
Pulling away, you’re still shocked and a little lightheaded by the kiss. At some point even doubting that this was real and it was all simply an illusion. But you figure out it isn’t when you feel a hard shove come from behind you. Almost losing your footing but thankfully Jeno gets a hold of you. Fiery red hair comes in your view, an anger look on her face as she gets closer to Jeno.
“Uh oh.” A kid next to you mutters and just like that, a loud slap is heard throughout the stadium. Barely fazed by it, still looking straight at her. “How can you do this to me?! I throw myself at you and you still choose this..this…tramp!” You hated the attention you were suddenly getting, and the added comments from the audience wasn’t making it any better.
“Don’t worry Cherry you’ll find someone else to suck the life out of ‘em soon! “ one shouts. Laughter as she only grows more upset. “Shut up!”
“Cherry it was obvious from the start I was interested, and I’m sorry if I had you to believe otherwise.” He apologized, eyes though staring directly at you. “I was an idiot and wasn’t thinking, I should’ve just talked it out instead of hurting others feelings.” “Then why did you meet me at the lake?!” “You were blowing up my phone, I kinda had no other choice.”
Scoffing when she sees Jeno not paying an ounce of attention on her but instead you, she shakes her head and walks off. “Whatever your loss!”
Inching closer, he grabs the jersey out of your hands. Scrunching it up, he raises it up and puts it over you. Jersey engulfing you like it’s always had, he brushes your hair and fixes it for you. “I’m sorry.”
“I am too.” About to lean in again, a loud whistle is heard. “Lee, in the rink now!” His coach shouts, groaning he sighs and leans his forehead on top of yours. “Don’t leave, stay right here.” He tells you almost beggingly. Giggling you nod, “I won’t.”
“Today!”
“Coming!” He shouts holding back a growl. Eyes softening when he looks back down at you. Walking down the stairs, he gives you one last squeeze before letting go. Amused when you see him trip over a step by how often he kept looking back at you, you take the seat closest to you. Game about to begin you feel a breeze walk past you. Looking up, you see Jaemin. Shit Jaemin!
“Jaemin-“
“It’s okay y/n. Don’t sweat it.” “What are you doing here?”
“Spoke to Jeno.” “Really?” “Yeah, someone had to clear the air between you two and given you two were too stubborn to speak first. I stepped up.” He turns and grins at you. Wrapping your arms around his neck you nuzzle your face in his chest. “Thank you, you’re the best.” “Eh it’s nothing.” He says nonchalantly, rubbing his hand on your back.
Wrong. Jaemin began to grow feelings for you. For the longest he’s had but never dared do anything because well, everyone at school knew how loved up you two were for each other. Crazy how the only ones who didn’t know were yourselves. Taking the opportunity to get closer to you when word went out you two stopped hanging out. He soon came to realize that no matter how hard he tried you simply weren’t going to like him the same way. Looking over at the pictures you two took together was the hardest thing to do because he knew the very next day he’d have to let you go.
So maybe Jeno was wrong after all. Jaemin wasn’t perfect. He didn’t get everything in life, he wasn’t always first place or won anything and everything because he did end up losing. He lost the best girl he’s ever known. He wasn’t even close to gaining your love, not when Jeno was always around. Jeno was your number one person in your life and Jaemin couldn’t do anything but accept that.
The hug must’ve lasted longer than you thought. Before you knew it, a series of ooo’s were heard, pulling away you look over to see Jeno had knocked a player pretty hard into the board. Face serious as his eyes are quick to meet between the proximity of you and Jaemin.
“Well I think this is my cue to leave.” Jaemin claps his hands. “Good luck y/n.” He ruffled your hair and sends you a warm smile. “You too.” Watching him leave, you turn your attention back over to the game. Getting up out of your seat along with the others when his team scores a point. The loudest out of everyone, Jeno couldn’t help but grin like an idiot.
By the time the game ended, Jeno ignores his teams victory. Ignoring the praises and compliments he’s received. Speed passing by his coach as his eyes set on yours. Helmet, skates and gloves had already come off, embracing you as he lifts you off the ground. Attacking your face with pecks of kisses, loving the slight giggle you let out.
“God I love you so much.” He confesses seriously. “I love you.” You reply, leaning in. You kiss him, hand coming around to pull him closer no longer blushing when the students around make a big deal about it. “Ugh god you guys are so damn cheesy.” Ten mumbles as he walks past you two. Pulling away, the two of you look back and send Ten a look. Forgetting about it right after as you two go back to kissing.
“Be my girlfriend?” He mumbles against your lips.
“Kiss me again and I might just say yes.”
“Are they still going at it?” Mark asks as soon as he enters the house. Ignored, he picks up a pillow and chucks it at Yangyang. Surprised by the sudden blow, he takes off his Airpods. “What?” He looks over at his friend in shock.
The loud clapping noises immediately engulfed the living room along with loud moans. A creaking bed and the constant pounding on the wall. “Oh yeah, they’re still fucking.” Yangyang nods. “God I left two hours ago, how can you even stand being here?”
“Babe felt bad Jeno had to hear us having sex so she gave me no other choice but to stay here and endure my best friend getting laid.” He grumbles. “You guys are weird.” Mark simply says receiving a slight laugh from him. “Well I only came back for my sweater, I’ll be on my way to go the movies…with my girlfriend. Because it’s what normal couples do, not force the other to hear their best friend have sex with their partner.” “Yeah yeah I get it, now go get some at the movie theaters.”
Another pillow gets chucked at his head, “Jackass.” Mark mumbles before getting out the house. Yangyang was right though, but still.
“You gotta give us a break baby.” You mewl in your boyfriends ear. His relent on you still hadn’t seized, hand tightly gripping onto your thigh. Hair sticking to his forehead as the squelching noises continue to bounce off the walls. Going onto your guys fourth orgasm. Obsessed with you and only you, Jeno doesn’t understand why he would stop. He loves you, and this is one of his many favorite ways to show you how much he loves you.
Shaking his head, his hold on you tightens. Neck and chest covered in his dark marks. A trail that goes down to your stomach and onto your inner thighs.
“Yangyang still has a lot to hear.”

28. fav dancer for sure ten!!!! his crazy skill and his flowy style and is amazing stage presence makes him so captivating to watch and i am SO EXCITED for his upcoming solo
29. fav leader this is ?? so hard /?? a majority of my biases r leaders help LOL hmm as amazing as bang chan and scoups and taeyong are, i think my personal pick is DKB d1 <3 his leadership is the reason i got into DKB when he was helping lead the unit B round in peak time. it was a rare opportunity to see how he helps rookie idols who didn't know him get to feel comfortable and cared for in a high pressure survival show situation. also i love watching him choreograph their blockings for a dance and clean the group during dance practices hehe.
30. fav maknae boynextdoor woonhak my son !!! truly an oversized tiny teddy bear 🥺 so bright and pure and fun and also so talented

31. fav subunit probably either svt bss or skz 3racha i simply cannot choose !! both r so entertaining and talented and BSS stage presence is literally insane they r unmatched actually most entertaining idol performers ever imo but also 3racha r always cooking up such insanely good music like skz discography would simply not exist ???

sungtaro nooooo this is such a pity sm really wasted the fack out of their time like how do u make them jobless after debuting them damn like what’s the point of making a new group anyway it doesn’t make sense they de-yassified taro for nothing and i saw yutas comment too 😬 …..
