You always know the trail's there. Everyone does - but no one says it. You're embarrassed to believe it could be like a way out. You feel like the trail will understand you, and now, I think that's the worst part. That it does.

Rats: Night of Terror (1984)
A movie in the criminally-underserved microgenre of post-apocalyptic horror. A gang of leather-clad motorcycle-riding scavengers find a facility full of food and water... and killer rats! Neither the setting nor the concept is particularly unique, but putting them together makes for something more fun than its component parts. The story and effects aren't always the best, but that's just part of the fun. However, you do get the impression that some animals were definitely harmed in the making of this film.

What if you were a tree in a forest with green ivy growing on you. And every day you look down at the green vines wrapped around your legs and knew eventually, slowly, gently, they will reach your throat.

30 Days, 30 Lines Challenge: Day 18 post your favourite line that you wrote or edited that day
There was a reason I wanted you to stay away from it. I don’t know what’s going on, but something about that cabin felt deeply unsettling. Like a dark cloud not just settling over you, but grabbing you by the throat and choking you until your vision starts to cloud and consciousness starts to fade. The cabin reeked of despair.

Set on a remote island where vacationers have senselessly abandoned their unwanted pet dogs, The Pack shows man’s inhumanity coming back to haunt him with fanged fury. The confused, starving pets form a rampaging pack – and man’s best friend becomes his worst fiend. Joe Don Baker stars as the heroic marine biologist who comes up with a do-or-die scheme that will either reestablish man as top dog – or turn him into a tasty tidbit. The suspense is ferocious.
Pre-order The Pack.

SUMMARY: Giant mutant rabbits terrorize the south-west.
The mod has not seen this movie, but really wants you to read the below excerpt from the Wikipedia article. Because all I want to know is how they got Janet Leigh to star in this.
"Widely panned by critics for its silly premise, poor direction, stilted acting and bad special effects, the film's biggest failure is considered to be the inability to make the rabbits seem scary."

David Brown one of the producers of Jaws was against John Williams composing the score for the film. He wanted Jerry Goldsmith.
This was Steven Spielberg's beautifully passive/aggressive letter to Mr. Brown.
Even as a kid he knew how to handle the suits.

Carnifex
I implore all of you who read this post and have an interest in paleontology, Australian wildlife, horror, or creature features to check out 2022′s Carnifex. It’s legitimately on par with Nope in terms of absolutely excellent recent horror works, as well as a masterclass in how to maximize a fairly low budget.
There are no jumpscares, no roars, no suspenseful music building up to a fight scene, and it is absolutely fucking terrifying for it.

Frogs (1972)
With a title like Frogs, you could be forgiven for assuming this movie was about killer frogs. Whereas in reality, the frogs don't really do much killing, leaving that to the snakes, gators, and other swamp critters while they just hand back and offer moral support. Kinda fun, but still average at best; unless you happen to really like swamp critters.

Cannibal at Heart
I pierce his chest with lily stems Scarlet petals glossed by undone lips I am a cannibal at heart, Fierce and vainglorious, Baring the teeth of a cruel boy
The jungle in flesh, the island heart, Filthy sin the rich viridian of Eden To thee I wish the touch of his blood, A plentiful harvest of body and bone And the youth of cannibals in blossom - Never to thee the breeding ground, But the fever of the monster itself, The botany that roils in ecstasy
