The traditional Maharashtrian art of warli using mud, rice, flour and clay on wood and paper. It shows the forbidden love marriage between the sun and moon who cannot be together except on the eclipse. The eclipses are considered as bad in the traditions and everybody is advised to stay inside and not go outside due to the strong natural forces that might imbalance the human hormones. This was to show that the day the lovers unite, the world seems to take it as a bad day, hence, the title of the work "the forbidden marriage."
A warli man made with clay shows the simplistic nature and the mere pleasures of a common man.
