Whether it’s sitting in your backyard with family and friends, out at a restaurant, or at a specialized ice cream vendor, you won’t regret having an Ice Cream Soda.
National Ice Cream Soda Day is celebrated annually on June 20th. This day is certainly loved and celebrated by many people across the globe, where they enjoy this popular drink. Since this drink has become an increasingly popular refreshment for everyone it has sometimes been referred to as a soda float.
Therefore, you should invest some time in slurping this frothy wonderment up a stripy straw. The drink is comprised of only a couple of scoops of ice-cream in any carbonated beverage. An ice-cream soda is perfect to cool you down on a sizzling June summer day and offers a refreshing snap that leaves you yearning for more.
Ice cream soda has definitely made a huge impression across the entire world. Also famously known as an ice cream float in places like the United Kingdom, USA, Africa, Canada, and East Asia. There are many other names that have risen right across the globe including, coke float in the United Kingdom and South East Asia, A spider in New Zealand and Australia, and a Helado Flotante in Mexico. Yes, that’s right you can even grab yourself a refreshing ice cream soda when holidaying in Mexico. And what a better place to enjoy this lovely beverage?
History Of National Ice Cream Soda Day
Ice Cream Soda day is a day that is dedicated to the commemoration of the famous ice cream soda, a delicious, creamy, and frothy drink. Surprisingly, this drink was a completely accidental discovery. However, because of its unique combination, many people from different parts of the world have grown to love it. Hence, this day is dedicated to remembering the creation of the amazing ice cream soda.
Whether you choose to create your own with a dollop of your favorite ice cream in your favorite carbonated drink or pop into a traditional ice cream bar, once you taste the famous ice cream soda you are sure to fall head over heels and just want more. One of the most popular choices when it comes to ice cream sodas is Coco-Cola and Vanilla ice cream, something about just works and tantalizes the taste buds.
The roots of National Ice Cream Soda Day can be traced right back to when the famous ice cream soda was discovered by a soda seller. They were created by the legendary Robert Green in 1874 during Philadelphia’s sesquicentennial jamboree. Sources state that the ingenious Mr. Green mixed vanilla ice cream in with the soda he was selling, after unfortunately being devoid of ice. Little did he know, but he created a special kind of drink that was to become ultimately and extremely popular in all parts of the world.
During this time, historians say that he was extremely proud of his invention and initiative. His customers were happy about his unintentional creation, which leads us to the here and now. We can certainly thank him for using his initiative to create the ice cream soda that we have come to love so much. It has been said that Mr. Green claims he generated the idea before the initiation of the event.
Even if Mr. Green meant it or not, it was a brilliant idea to keep the sodas cold. Some of the best creations come from on the spot creativity and what a great one this was! Even if it was as simple as the thinking ice cream is cold, ice cubes are cold, let’s try it! Understandably, his epiphany was an instantaneous hit and spread like proverbial wildfire.
Green was basking in his achievement for the remainder of existence and humorously (some would say egotistically!) had “Originator of the Ice Cream Soda” written on his gravestone. And who can blame him! This is definitely something that you’d want to be remembered for.
How Has It Changed?
Nowadays, there is a range of variations on the originally invented ice cream soda, even encompassing root beer floats, Boston coolers, and purple cows. To adequately make National Ice Cream Soda Day an event: grab some soda, a couple of scoops of ice cream and a straw. Finally, sit in the sunshine and enjoy your creation whilst thinking of how Mr. Green’s epiphany became an instant sensation!
Why Should You Be Celebrating National Ice Cream Soda Day?
There are numerous reasons why you should celebrate ice cream soda day. One of the best being that an ice cream soda is an ultimately refreshing treat that can fill you with delight and refreshment. This day gives you the chance to not only enjoy the historic drink but it also allows you to join in the celebrations to thank the creator properly for giving us this wonderful creation. It’s certainly a day for recognizing what creation and initiative can achieve.
And, How Can You Do It?
There are many ways you can join in and enjoy ice cream soda day. Whether it’s your favorite ice cream shop, sitting in your back yard with the family, in a restaurant or joining all the other ice cream soda fans on this wonderful day you’re sure to have fun, find new and exciting flavors and fall in love with a traditional and historical drink that is a favorite to many around the world. Some of the great ways you can join in with the celebrations include:
Getting creative and making your own with your favorite ice cream flavors and favorite drinks. Why not see who can come up with the nicest, most delicious, craziest ideas in your family? You could even turn it into a little competition, the winner claiming the best ice cream soda day prize. You could even go all the way and add whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, and a cherry on top.
There are many ice cream soda recipes you could try. How about, A Boozy Biscoff Beer Float with that delicious coffee butter-flavored ice cream and an ice-cold beer? gingerbread Ice Cream Float, who said gingerbread was just for Christmas? Rum and Coke Float, you’re sure to wish that your favorite pub served this version of the ice cream soda once you try it.
The Guinness Float, perfect for the dark beer lovers, this float is made up simply of a bottle of Guinness, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup. Or The Strawberry Ice Cream Soda, perfect for the strawberry shake lovers out there, this fizzy version has all the creamy goodness with the sweet strawberry flavor that you crave.
Taking a trip out and about in search of ice cream soda, come on you’re bound to find it everywhere on this day! In fact, almost in a restaurant or beverage shop should be able to create one for you with ease. You will most likely spot ice cream sodas all throughout your day, you won’t be able to resist the temptation and be spoilt for choice.
It’s certainly high in demand and a popular choice on ice cream soda day. If ice cream soda day wasn’t the perfect excuse to take the family out to enjoy a refreshing, bubbly, fun, and creative drink in the sun then what is? You could even make it a yearly occasion and see how many different flavors you can try across the years.
Celebrate on social media is another great idea, whether you take a picture of you and your friends enjoying your ice cream soda in the sun, share the wonderful creation you and the family have come up with or join in with the other ice cream soda fans, social media is a great way for you to participate in the wonderful day.

*Kageyama is calling you*
“Y/N, where are you now?”
“I’m at a convenience store near the apartment, what’s up, Tobi?” you hang the phone while you giving your things to the cashier
“No… It’s just, I want to hear your voice”
You remained silent, waiting for him to say something
After packaging your things into a bag, you knew there was something wrong because he still remained silent
Still waiting for his answer, in the end, you offer him comfort,
“I’m on my way to your apartment, okay?”
“Mhm…”
Yeah, definitely something wrong.
“Do you want something? Ice creams, lemon soda, or what?”
“No…” his voice breaks, you know he wants to cry so bad. But a tsundere Kageyama dislikes to cry on the phone.
Because his apartment is nearby, you kept walking while talking with him on the phone, “Tobi can hold up tears okay? I’m on to the elevator, I know you hate crying on your phone”
“Yeah.. okay….” He answers quietly
You arrived on his unit floor and quickly knocked on his front door. He saw you drenched in sweat indicates you walk real quick just to meet him. You can him, looking at his swollen face, still not saying anything except “hi”
You put your shopping bag on his dining table, hurriedly unwrap your jacket, and hug him.
“Did Tobi have a bad day today?”
He only nods, then he rubs his head over your shoulder
“Okay, that means yes. May I know what just happened?”
“Not selected… for next national representatives”
“Okay… It's going to be ok, Tobi. You are great, okay? You can shine next time"
"Mhm," he still hugged you, eager not to let go.
"I can't get out from this sadness" he quietly said, still crying on your shoulder.
"It's okay, let's go to the bed, shall we? you're probably dizzy to thinking those things, okay?"
"Okay...." you drag him to his bedroom, lying him on the bed. You want to make instant hot ramen for him, but he doesn't want to let you go.
"You probably not eating for a day, I'll make quick ramen then we can cuddle again, ok?"
“Don’t leave…” he said, hugging you more tightly than before. Hearing those, you remained sleep beside him.
In the end, he sleeps in your arms, hearing your amazing word of affirmation, comfort him as much as you could.

The year is 3027. The world has lost much, but gained more. And some still remember one of the most tragic defeats of the Plague Years…. The fall of the great paradise of Souppe Lantation. It was a place where people came and went like an ever-circling tide. Liminality and community and peaceful, warm solitude.
Travelers, locals, friends, loners, salad-lovers and dessert-lovers, the great enemy nations of Pizza pizza and Pineapple pizza. All found a place to love here. They say there was an entire front hallway of fantastical salad, beautifully badly designed tomato-patterned furniture, a steaming counter made of shiny metal that held pits of soup, a table where focaccia pizza was eaten and replaced in short order by a new plate, like a magic cornucopia of legend… a table of desserts adults told children not to eat too many of, but were happily accessible… an entire mechanical compartment devoted to seasonal “ice creams”…. A large soda fountain, where you could mix and match preferred flavors and refill your cup into eternity, like you were Ponce De Leon glugging the water of a cherry-flavored fountain of youth….. an entire serving table dedicated to baked potatoes, a subject of humorous ritual devotion for many years… and most blessedly, a clean bathroom.
It mattered not from whence you came or where you headed. This place with its electric lights tinted the warmth of a cozy hearth, its plush yet stiff booths, occasionally a patio, food to pillow your stomach beyond hunger & thirst’s wildest dreams and desires… a strange sense of solitude and community. Of artificiality made human-like and tangible by the tradition and community of sharing a table in a place where you were feeling good. Like the fleeting rays of sun as they wash through a window, patterned so that it reflects dough-scented prisms of memory.
A true paradise, a self-contradiction in impermanence and lasting memory, the truly cold inauthenticity of business and the authenticity of the people that try their hardest to make the most of life despite all the bad in the world, with family dinners and a “have an amazing day” and a buzz of chatter and laughter and the clatter of forks. A constructed fakeness of a place and idea and the subsequent real emotion & joy of the people and things that fill it, flesh it out. It feels like stories and laughs at a table. Warm soup that matches warm comforting lighting. Trying not to fall asleep in a booth from the coziness and comfort of the company of family or happy strangers the next table over. Being surrounded by one of the oldest facets of humanity like a warm, snugly-fitting sweater: community and comfort, whether material or immaterial.

good afternoon. i am incapable of grappling with the new avior and starlight installment that dropped yesterday and am going to instead be hyperfocusing on the "you're the lighthouse in my sunset" line and writing AVIOR STARLIGHT BEACH TRIP
avior never bothered much with traveling in "human" ways whenever he wasn't stewarding a newly coalesced demon and getting them acquainted with elegy's vehicles. as such, he only nominally knows how to drive.
starlight, however, who grew up with summer road trips to national parks near and far from dahlia, practically lives and breathes their clunky old SUV.
one semester after finals, burnt out and homesick, they scrounged up enough money for two days' worth of gas and some shitty snacks and just. drove. that's how they found the beach avior and starlight end up going to after they escape.
avior pulls them aside after they've finished up rounding survivors and explains that they might not want to tempt fate more than they already have. that they might want to lay low and get out of a cornerstone city so department presence isn't quite as suffocating.
starlight counters that they might not have the kind of time necessary for laying low if min'ara and e'laetum are to be believed. avior rejoins that min'ara and e'laetum maybe shouldn't be believed at all.
...starlight doesn't want to discuss that tonight. they're tired in a way they never have been before, soul bruised and aura drained, head flooded with memories that they finally recognize but haven't been able to categorize yet.
so instead, they say, "...okay. i know somewhere we can go."
they don't head out that night. not even that week. starlight has to reacquaint themselves with their everyday routine, get back in touch with people who didn't even know they were gone. the empowered world has screeched to a hault in the face of unimaginable tragedy, and they're grateful for the department-mandated PTO their job gives them. it's only three days, but it's better than nothing.
after a paycheck comes in, there's not much keeping them in dahlia but fear, so... they go.
avior teases them about the bathroom-sized trash can they keep behind the passenger seat filled with soda cans. they offer to move it but he shrugs them off and accordions himself into the seat.
his horns tear a hole in the headliner of their car and stuffing leaks out of it whenever they hit a bump in the road. by the end of the road trip, when he extricates himself from their car, all of it falls off his lap and plops on the sidewalk in one fell swoop. starlight absolutely dies laughing as he picks up each piece of it and throws them at them.
the first few days of the trip are a sandy whirlwind. ice cream on the boardwalk. avior gets acquainted with a few questionable beach cocktails. they make a sandcastle and avior conjurs some stars to embed into the towers. some children nearby poke at a crab until it scuttles across starlight's back as they nap and avior almost breaks covert by rifting away from it and remembers himself just in time, picking it up by one leg and tossing it into the waves. starlight buys a couple pulpy novels and reads particularly heinous parts out to avior, laughing at his disgusted reactions until they almost cry.
at night, they look at the stars together. they look dimmer than the ones avior used to conjur for them, and the constellations are different considering the season, but they try to memorize them all the same.
soon, they'll be back to saving the world. but for now, swaying back in forth in each others arms to the rhythm of the waves rolling over their ankles, it's enough.

17. mai i Norge
the 17th of May has a dramatic history and the first years after 1814 were anything but a party. On May 17th, 1814 a completely newly convened National Assembly adopted a Norwegian constitution and elected its own king. But Sweden (which believed it was entitled to Norway as a spoil of war from Denmark) went to war, ending with a ''union'' between Sweden and Norway and a revised constitution. It wasn't until 1905 that Norway declared itself fully independent with its own king and the original constitution reinstated. Similarly, the Norwegian flag wasn't used as it is today until 1905.
For almost a century the 17th of May was a day used to debate Norway's lack of independence and over the years symbols of a free Norway emerged. From 1864 Bjørnstjere Bjørnsons ''Ja, vi elsker dette landet'' was used as the national song. Six years later he also pushed for an important ritual: a children's parade - the country's future waving the Norwegian flag.
As the political and protest aspects began to be left behind in favor of peaceful celebration, the interest for the bunad developed. Wearing a bunad was originally part of a big radical project, which dealt with Norway's independence. Folk costumes signalize a belonging to a community - from the individual or family history of an inherited bunad, to the more collective identity connected to region, all the way to the national level.
This spring holiday is full of symbols of community. There are wreath layings, speeches, the singing of the national song together, children's parades, and the wearing of bunads. Families gather for celebratory parties. That the 17th of May is considered a day for children is displayed best in the tradition of serving hotdogs, soda, and ice cream.

1, 2, 5 and 6 for any of your OCs. I love them all!
Wahhhhhh!!! Thanks! I'm quite fond of them too ^^
1 What is your character's reaction to a minor inconvenience? Such as getting their jumper caught on a door handle?
I did this for Liam
Gabriel is so used to his luck going bad most of the time he simply sighes and moves on. If it's not feeling well or particularly flustered then it can escalate to being more upset but emotionally upset.
Noll, eh Bourbon will fix it.
Aiden. call the fire department, send in the national guard, honey they're having an emergency XD
Barrett, nothing minor usually bothers him, he usually helps Aiden with his drama.
River is about the same. Of the two Colin is the one who normally freaks out more.
I'm doing Sebastian and Stuart because I legit forget these two exist XD
Stuart has a smoke and forgets about it. Sebastian rarely lets anything bother them.
2 Tea, coffee, hot chocolate or other?
Liam - drinks coffee but not religiously, more into pop/soda
Gabriel - black coffee in the morning, tea when not feeling well
Noll - bourbon, shocking I know
Ren - tea or water
Barrett - Coffee bit of cream
Aiden - Grande Caramel Machiatto, hot, stirred, extra shot, no whip
Colin - coffee mostly
River - whatever Colin is making
Emmett - any of the 3
Vincent - Coffee or water, maybe an energy drink but very rarely (likes when Em makes tea)
Sebastian - water, preferably flavored
Stuart - Coffee with lots and lots of sugar
Cordelia - venti iced espresso with an extra shot to go
Ambrose - Molly's tea is the best
Mathias - Greek coffee
5 Do they have any nicknames or pet names or other aliases?
(I love this question so much!)
Liam calls Gabriel by his first name only, doesn't shorten it ever. Calls him love or Gabriel Lane mostly. "My sky" of course. Might throw in another endearing term at times. Michael called Gabriel "Cherry" while they were together and Gabe.
Gabriel calls Liam, dear, dearest or Liam dear (fun fact I got that from Lady & The Tramp). Uses Liam James if he's annoyed or frustrated with him and "my satellite". Melanie calls Liam, ferret.
Aiden calls Barrett, Retty or darling. Barrett uses darling mostly for Aiden. Cordelia calls Barrett, Barry which he doesn't like. He's not fond of Retty either but stopped voicing his displeasure a long time ago. Obviously Cordy is Cordelia's nickname. Aiden refers to Star as their "Friend of Honor" since thats her role when Aiden and Barrett get married.
Since Noll hates his name he only goes by Noll. Ren is short for Reynolds, Noll & Jasper, mostly use Ren. Noll uses Jas for Jasper. Jasper and Celeste have pet names but I've ever thought of any specific ones.
Vin for Vincent but his stage name is Red Wraithborn so he goes by that as well. Em for Emmett. When they were dating Em called Vincent "goth boy" a lot because thats how people at college referred to Vin. Vincent called Emmett "Freckles" once. Once.
Beckett calls Mathias "Matty" or his greek god. Mathias' sisters call him a lot of Greek based nicknames. Beckers has been Beckett's nickname since he was a kid.
Ambrose calls Cecil "Hart" as a take on his last name, Lockhart. Cecil calls Ambrose "Ambrosia".
6 What kind of books comfort them? What books help them heal after a hard day?
Any book for Gabriel. He'll read anything but if he needs something after a hard day he'll reread something he's read 50 times. Usually something philosophical.
Aiden, fashion magazines or books on fashion. Star is getting him into trashy romance novels.
Barrett reads law books for fun. But also has a worn copy of LoTR that he loves.
River, anything but normally fiction over non fiction.
Ren obviously like art history books but likes classics and Shakespeare.
Colin likes romance and mystery novels. He loves Agatha Christie.
Sebastian loves Stephen King.
Mathias has a pretty big collection of poetry books in several languages. He also reads a lot, he likes biographies, historical biographies, he's a big world history buff.
Ok wow that was long but very fun! I tried to do as many OCs as I could! Thanks anon!

I went on a road trip to see all five major National Parks. In between Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon, I found this quirky movie theater.
Going in to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (it's fine), I immediately became friends with the owner. I came back the next day when realizing I could buy some obsidian (see this post).
The location is Panguitch, Utah. Which is a name that my mush mouth fucks up every time I try to say it.
This is a family-owned theater that started in 1909. They mainly serve candy and soda but have ice cream as well!

In one of the many conversations I had with them, I was invited to see the projector. According to the lady in charge, the owners changed hands a few years ago (I forget if she said 2017 or another year) and updated the entire place. That includes the digital projector.

To The Future
Outdoor advertising has long been the haven for companies with lots of money and creative whimsy. Whereas television is two-dimensional and ephemeral (meaning a minute or less in most cases), outdoor ads can be viewed 24/7.
Rooftop scaffolding signs can be attention-getting, more so than standard billboards. Historically, perhaps the pinnacle of outdoor, though, has been Times Square in New York City. Some 330,000 people pass by each day, and up to 460,000 on the busiest of days.
There’s a new kid in town, though, that is redefining outdoor advertising, if you’ve got the ad budget, that is. And it is only fitting it is in Las Vegas, home of the biggest, brightest, gaudiest whatever. It’s Sphere, of course, which opened on 29th September this year, and U2 has a residency until at least February. Although I have not (yet) been, I understand it is a completely immersive experience with wrap-around video to complement the stage.
But what about advertising, you ask? Hold on a sec…Coca-Cola is staging a Sphere takeover of the most unique concert venue in the nation, using the exosphere to announce the launch of its latest product, Y3000 Zero Sugar. Both the soda and the visuals were created in part or in whole with AI.

I know. “There he goes again with all that AI stuff.” I’m just going to step out on a limb here and nominate AI as the Person of the Year, because he/she has totally crushed it. It’s everywhere. While AI has been around for a number of years, it was only after ChatGPT was released last November that it became a household word. Or acronym.
Coke’s larger-than-life advert will display a futuristic cityscape that ties in with their Y3000 AI Cam, a tool also available to consumers to transform their photos into future-forward snaps.
Let’s talk about Sphere for a moment. It is 336 feet high, 516 feet wide at its widest point, and 875,000 square feet. Seating capacity is 18,600, and it cost $2.3 billion to build. Alas, Sphere was in the news this last week after it announced a $100 million operating loss for its 1Q. That’s an accounting loss, though, the kind that allows for many items to be expensed or written off. Remember, Amazon did not post its first profit until 4Q 2001, six years after launching. The IRS makes the rules, and we play by them, sometimes to our advantage.
But back to Coca-Cola. Their big splash on Sphere is for a week, ending on the 13th. Las Vegas averages 88,000 tourists a day on or near the Strip. While you have to be in a specific part of the Strip to see Sphere, it will be impossible to miss once you do. I can imagine people positioning themselves just to take photos. When was the last time you heard of people photographing outdoor ads and signage? Oh wait a sec…I do that, but I am looking primarily for vintage ones.
Think of this as the biggest outdoor ad ever, one that can be static or have motion. In this instance, it is the perfect venue for such a futuristic campaign. I suspect that Sphere will soon have a long line of companies wanting to advertise on its exosphere. Furthermore, Sphere is an excellent fit for companies wishing to go all in on digital as well as AI.
Just like Dippin’ Dots once proudly proclaimed themselves to be the ice cream of the future, Sphere offers the advertising of the future. Except that the future is now. I need to get back out to Las Vegas, to see this marvel, and go to a concert. This is better than anything Times Square could ever muster, and I suspect New York will be feeling the pangs of Sphere envy.
I just hope that U2 is still playing when I get there.

So yesterday I did 18-esque doodles with my comfort characters.
I was on a "Inclusive 18" event. Context, I'm Chilean, our national day is September 18th. But they organized an 18 Day for disabled people in general. And I'm autistic and I'm the secretary of the ASD group of the commune, so I was invited to go.
I ate well, had fun, but I needed to enter the building as a way to calm down so that I don't get overwhelmed due to sensory stuff. (Blasting music with big speakers, dude... Even when I was using headphones)
So I drew these.
First was Remy dressing him as a Huaso (Chilean Cowboy). I had to do it, since. First I did it with Ito, now it's Remy's turn to be Chilean for once. Jokes aside, he looks so cute and cool dressed as a Huaso.
Then I drew Gauchito with some anticuchos. (Sticks with meat pieces, and sometimes onion slices and other things) I ate one and I love it, even with the lack of onion. I had to draw the Argentinian good boi with some good food and being happy.
I took a picture and show it to my friend, and as a joke said "What's next? Ito with a terremoto?" (Terremoto, literally meaning Earthquake, is also the name of a drink with alcohol, pineapple ice cream and grenadine. You can replace the alcohol for soda if you prefer it like that)
And... I had to do it. After leaving the event but still. Hi again Huas-Ito. Now drunk and happy. While JudgeMan's worried over his now drunk NetOp.
I forgot to draw the shirts for both Remy and Ito... Whoops.
But Hope you like these sketches.
