Merry Christmas

Summary: On Christmas morning, Clint and Laura have a rather unexpected surprise for Lila, Nate, and Cooper. However, it's a more than welcome one.

  Clint smiled as he hurried up the stairs, getting ready to wake up the kids for Christmas morning. They were miraculously somehow still asleep, and Clint had for once in his entire life woken up before them. And given the surprise he had downstairs, he could not hardly wait to get them up.

  Laura was awake as well, but she was in the bedroom doing something, and Clint leaned in the doorway.

  “We’re ready,” he told her, and Laura nodded as she headed to Lila’s room to get her up. Clint headed to Nate’s first, getting him up.

  “Hey, bud, let’s get up. Come on,” Clint told him as he gently squeezed his shoulder, trying to wake the boy up. He stirred after a short moment, looking at Clint in confusion. However, after only a split second, he seemed to remember what day it was, and he grinned widely, looking far more awake.

  “I got a cool surprise, so let’s get going and wake up your brother,” Clint told him, and Nate instantly jumped out of the bed, yelling as he ran for Cooper’s room. Clint chuckled, knowing that Cooper was doubtlessly going to be less than appreciative of the wake-up call.

  As Clint headed out the door, he realized Lila was up with Laura waiting on the boys. He smiled at her, opening his arm as he pulled her into his side, kissing her head.

  “Morning, sweetheart,” he greeted, and Lila just smiled widely hugging him back with a mumbled reply.

  “Got a surprise downstairs that I think you’re going to really love,” Clint whispered, and she furrowed her brow, pulling away just enough to meet his eyes. She was utterly confused as she tried to piece it together, and he could not help a chuckle at his wonderful daughter.

  “What is it?” Lila questioned, and Clint grinned, starting to answer but Laura beat him to it.

  “You’ll see if your brothers hurry it up,” Laura raised her voice pointedly as she looked in the direction of Cooper’s room where Nate was jumping on the bed and driving him crazy in an attempt to wake him up.

  “I’m getting up, I’m getting up,” Cooper complained aloud as he dragged himself out of bed. However, despite his bellyaching, he did hurry into the hall. Once they were all three standing there, Clint grinned at the kids.

  “Well? What are you waiting for? Get down there,” he told them, ushering them along, and they wasted no time in running down the stairs. The group of them sounded like an entire herd, and Clint headed down the stairs with Laura, the both of them laughing softly at the children’s enthusiasm.

  All of the kids rushed down the stairs, making their way to the living room. However, as soon as they reached the bottom of the stairs, they froze quickly as their eyes widened, looking at the Christmas tree in shock.

  There below the tree was Natasha and Yelena sitting down on the floor, a bow on Natasha’s head and one stuck on Yelena’s nose. Kate was also there, sitting on the couch as she watched them with a wide grin.

  “Merry Christmas,” Natasha greeted them with a wide smile, and Yelena waggled her eyebrows in an attempt to make Nate laugh.

  As soon as Natasha spoke, they all broke out of their surprise, hurrying over to greet their aunts.

  Natasha opened her arms, gladly catching Lila as she hurriedly got on her knees and practically ploughed over Natasha. Cooper stood a bit to the side, still in that awkward phase between adulthood and childhood where he did not know how to exactly handle situations like this.

  However, Nate ran to Yelena instantly, jumping for her and wrapping his arms around her neck. Yelena grinned widely, laughing as she hugged him tightly.

  “Auntie Lena!” he cried excitedly, and Yelena felt the emotion welling in her chest against her will as she felt the love radiating off of him.

  “Hey, myshka! Merry Christmas!” Yelena greeted, trying to overcome the momentary feelings taking over her. After a moment of him squeezing the life out of her, he fell back in her lap. She chuckled happily as he took the bow off of her nose. She then rubbed her nose against his before pulling back and looking up at Cooper accusingly.

  “What are you doing, Cooper Scooper?! Get down here!” Yelena told him, grinning widely as she opened an arm, and Cooper just grinned awkwardly but quickly bent down to hug her, getting down in the floor with them.

  “Come here, Nate. Quit giving Yelena all my love,” Natasha scolded playfully as she grabbed him and dragged him over into her own lap, placing her hands on his cheeks and playfully squishing them together as she greeted him. He laughed joyously, far too pleased with himself.

   Lila then shifted over to Yelena, and Yelena finally released Cooper, opening her arms as she hugged the younger girl. There was still a bit of hesitance, but not nearly as much as there used to be.

  Yelena’s secret hesitance and slight trepidation around younger girls and even girls her age was slowly stating to melt away, and honestly, Lila had been a big part in taking those emotions away. Even Kate had played a role, as much as Yelena would not ever dare to admit it. And of course, Carol, too. Carol was one of her favorites out of all of the non-Natashas that she knew.

  “Hey, Aunt Lena,” Lila greeted, squeezing her tightly, and Yelena smiled warmly, hugging her back as she closed her eyes.

  “Hey, kid,” she whispered, patting her on the back before releasing her finally. Lila smiled at her, her eyes sparkling. Natasha called Cooper over and he moved in next to her so that she could wrap her arms around the two boys.

  “These are my boys,” Natasha declared as she squeezed them both tightly, giving Cooper a kiss to his cheek despite his halfhearted protests. One could easily see that he truly was pleased with the affection.

  Clint and Laura approached the doorway, looking in at them. Kate grinned back at Clint, pleased at the sight of everyone having so much fun despite the fact that she was not sure how to insert herself.

  However, before long, the kids inserted Kate for her.

  “Kate, hi!” Lila greeted, moving over to hug her. Cooper was instantly paying attention as he fully realized that Kate was there. While Kate was pleased to be included, she was not quite sure that she wanted the attention that Cooper was offering. Therefore, she paid more attention to Lila, offering a big grin and hugging her in return.

  “Hey, girl! Merry Christmas!” Kate wished sweetly as she moved her hot chocolate over to the table.

  “I was hoping you might come for Christmas!” Lila told her, and Kate could not help the warmth spreading through her.

  “Aww… I’m really glad I got to be here!” Kate expressed as she released her, and Nate hurried over as he climbed onto her lap and in her arms.

  “Kate!” he cried, and Kate smiled widely, unable to help being just as excited as he was. His energy was infectious.

  “Nate!” she replied with just as much enthusiasm, and he laughed joyfully. Lila moved to sit next to Kate, and Nate was smiling widely as he looked at the brunette, his hands on her shoulders.

  “We rhyme!” he declared, and even though it was something he pointed out every time Kate came to visit, Kate still found it adorable every single time.

  Cooper then approached after Lila and Nate. He had a shy smile on his face, and as sweet as he was, Kate was not about to go for it.

  “Hey, Kate,” he told her, and Kate nodded to him, mustering a somewhat forced smile.

  “Hey, Cooper,” she replied, attempting to keep a smile on her face.

  Sensing the tension and Kate’s uncomfortableness, Laura elbowed Clint lightly, trying to get him to do something about it. Clint had noticed it as well, but he honestly had been enjoying it quite a bit and found it to be quite humorous. However, at Laura’s urging, he finally called out to the group.

  “Alright, who wants to open presents?” Clint spoke up, and the kids instantly were in agreement. Natasha and Yelena stood up, heading over to the couch as Lila moved to the Christmas tree. Natasha took a seat next to Kate, and Yelena sat on the other side of Natasha.

  Clint and Laura took a seat, and Clint smiled softly as he looked at his amazing family and finally met eyes with Natasha.

  Even though they were unconventional, they were perfect, and he would not have it any other way.

Happy Birthday

Summary: It's your birthday and the only person who doesn't seem to be excited about it is you.

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

A/N: This story was completely self-indulgent, but I hope someone out there likes it!

You’ve always been very reluctant to celebrate your birthday.

You haven’t had a birthday party since you were 12. The following year your mom died a couple of days before and neither you nor your family were in the mood to celebrate anything.

It wasn’t by any means unexpected, she had been sick for a few years, but it still hit you hard.

You were the youngest and were far too young when she first got sick to really understand everything going on.

You were 8 and all you really remember is watching your mom get more and more sick until eventually there was nothing more the doctors could do.

Her death hit you hard and you closed yourself off, never talking about it or even crying after the day of her funeral. To this day you’ve still never cried, in front of others or even by yourself.

You started exercising to channel all your energy, refusing to do anything more like the therapy your family suggested. 

When you were 15 you discovered SHIELD and decided you wanted to help others, so you signed up for the SHIELD Academy, working your hardest and pushing yourself to your very limit.

You ended up being not only the youngest cadet ever, but the youngest to actually graduate and then the youngest recruit at SHIELD at only 16 years old.

Natasha was very impressed when she heard about you and took a liking to you, convincing Fury to make you part of her team during her missions and teaching you everything she knows.

That’s how you ended up in the Avengers Initiative, not that you felt you didn’t deserve it since you know how hard you worked and everything you gave up to work towards this achievement. 

The team themselves were initially skeptical since you were barely 18 during the battle of New York, but they were quickly proven wrong when they saw how well you handled yourself against the Chitauri. 

You were devastated when SHIELD fell, but carried on as an Avenger, battling Ultron and then moving to the Compound with the team.

You met the actual Bucky for the first time when you were 22, during the whole Civil War thing with Baron Zemo. Like Natasha, you were on Tony’s team, fighting mostly Pietro, but the conflict eventually ended. 

It took Tony some time to get over the whole “Bucky killing his parents while brainwashed” thing, but, as he likes to say, he can’t call himself a genius without admitting that Bucky didn’t have much of a choice. 

Thanks to Tony’s help Shuri was able to find a solution to Bucky’s brainwashing faster than she would’ve alone, meaning Bucky didn’t have to go back into cryo and was pretty quickly cleared to join the team, about a year after the airport battle in Leipzig.

You were warmly accepted by everybody and, the more the team grew the more you felt at home with these people.

And now you wish you could burn down the whole compound because, somehow, Tony convinced you to have a birthday party for the first time in 13 years because, in his words, 'you only turn 25 once'.

Good news is you managed to make him limit the guest list to the team and other people close to you like Maria Hill and Fury. Bad news is you’re still gonna be the center of attention, which you hate.

You couldn’t stop Tony from making everyone dress up for the party, and you couldn’t stop the team from getting you gifts even though you insisted all you wanted was everyone together and to have fun with them since for the longest time nobody ever even knew when your birthday was. 

What you didn’t realize was that the only person more worried than you about your gifts was Bucky.

Since he joined the team the two of you have gotten close, starting with his first training with the team where he very loudly told Steve about his disbelief that someone as young and small as you could actually be an asset to the team.

You quickly put him in his place by taking him down after less than two minutes of sparring, taking full advantage of his underestimating you because he “didn’t want to hurt a pretty little thing like you.”

Admittedly he was impressed and wasn’t shy about letting you know that, while the rest of the team snickered at his initial shock when you pinned him down.

You became friends after that, not as close as you’d like but friends nonetheless.

If you were honest with yourself you’ve been harboring a little crush on the supersoldier, but he’s never shown any interest so you resigned yourself to just being his friend.

Something that you did come to treasure, though, is your and Bucky’s late night talks.

It started with you walking in on him in the kitchen on a late night where you couldn’t sleep, nothing new to you, but the two of you barely talked other than acknowledging each other.

You took a bottle of water and left.

A couple of days later you ran into him again and you stood there in silence while you made yourself a cup of tea and then left for your room.

A few days later again he was just sitting there and said nothing as you made your tea, except this time you put a cup in front of him and silently took a seat next to him at the counter.

Two nights later when you arrived at the kitchen he was already there with a cup of tea in front of him and one in front of the seat next to him.

You didn’t want to assume it was for you, but you took a chance when you noticed it was the cup you always used, a blue mug with Stitch on it that says “Let’s get weird”. Your favorite in fact.

You hesitantly sat down next to him and, without you having to ask or without even looking at you, he told you that the nights you stay up late because you can’t sleep you tend to be more quiet during the team dinners and while you hang out afterwards.

You didn’t say anything in return and just sat there, trying not to overthink how much he seemed to watch you.

But the more nights you spent like that, the more you two talked and you gathered quickly that Bucky is a very observant person, nothing more.

You loved the time you spent together after dark where you’d talk about everything and anything, but come morning it was almost as if it never happened, which you came to accept.

It weirdly made the nights you spent talking even more special, which was almost every night.

But back to the present, you’re currently getting ready with Natasha and Wanda, who know much more than you about hair and makeup and are always happy to help you out with getting ready for Stark parties. 

You put on the black cocktail dress with rhinestones all over the corset and a slit down the left side, then the three of you make your way to the party room and you take a deep breath before entering.

Everyone is already there, all dressed up in fancy clothes as they all shout “Happy Birthday”.

You laugh and say hi to everybody while they all take turns hugging you, there’s not too many people but everyone important to you is there.

Even Laura and Clint’s kids are there, which you consider a second family at this point, since Laura always did treat you like a daughter.

You hate to admit that it's a nice party.

Knowing you, everyone makes an effort to not put you too much at the center of attention and you just go around talking to your friends like every other party.

Eventually time comes for the cake and, the moment you kind of dreaded, opening the gifts.

Since it's the first birthday you allowed the team to celebrate everyone decided to go all in for your gifts, which you picked up on from the very first gift you open.

Pietro got you a first edition of “The Picture Of Dorian Gray” which is your all time favorite book, Wanda and Maria got you a leather jacket and an amazing pair of boots that you knew were expensive because you were all out shopping together when you came across them.

Steve got you a gold heart-shaped locker with a picture of the team inside it, Natasha got you a charm bracelet with a little charm to represent everyone on the team, and Sam got you a cute necklace with your birth stone on it.

When you open Fury’s gift you start laughing since it's a gun, a SIG SAUER P226 to be precise, which is very Fury.

“It was my first gun when I joined SHIELD.” He says with a smile and you smile back, knowing how much thought he put into this gift.

You open Clint’s gift next, a bow and arrow that he already taught you how to use, and Laura got you a pair of diamond earrings.

Your heart melts when you open Lila, Cooper and Nathaniel’s gifts, respectively a friendship bracelet, an Avengers action figure of yourself and a Stitch plushie.

The three of them hug you tightly as you say thank you and now you only have two gifts left, Tony’s and Bucky’s, and they’re both little boxes. 

You open Tony’s next, thinking it’s some fancy necklace or earring but you frown when you see a car key.

“Is this the key to your car?” you ask Tony, knowing full well you’re holding the key to an Audi R8 Spyder, the car Tony’s let you borrow so many times you’re now wondering if he’s gifting you his spare set of keys.

“No.” He says casually “It’s the key to your car.”

You’re even more confused and simply stare at him with your mouth gaped, not really processing the information.

“Y-you… You got me a car?!” You almost yell out of shock and everyone else starts laughing at your antics when you start basically jumping up and down and hugging Tony, squealing like a little girl.

“Well, come on, let’s go see it!” Tony says enthusiastically after you’ve calmed down, and you get up, just as enthusiastic, but are stopped by Steve’s voice.

“Wait, wait. You have one gift left.” He says, picking up the small box and giving it to you. “It’s from Bucky.”

You were so pumped up by the car, you almost forgot about it and completely miss the mischievous look Steve gives Bucky and the murderous glare Bucky gives back.

You also miss Bucky starting to protest before you open his gift, but he instantly shuts up when he sees your face falling the second you open it.

It’s a small necklace with a blue rose in it, it really looks like something you’d give a little girl more than a 25 year old woman.

You look at it for a minute, running your finger on it before you raise your head and look at Bucky.

The whole room goes silent as they all watch you worriedly, everyone noticing immediately that tears are streaming down your face.

Nobody understands what’s happening and nobody knows how to react or what to do, it’s like they’re all frozen by the sight of you being vulnerable for the first time ever. 

Meanwhile Bucky’s heart is beating so loud he’s sure everyone around him can hear it, and he feels himself starting to panic at the thought of having ruined your birthday with that stupid gift.

Everybody else got you expensive gifts and all he did was get you a small, cheap necklace that reminded him of a story you briefly talked about once on one of your late night talks about a necklace you had as a kid.

He saw it at the mall while looking for a gift for you, remembering the sweet smile you had on your face when you mentioned it and the fleeting sad look he thought he saw when you told him you lost it when you were 12.

He was really proud of himself for that gift, but the more he saw the other gifts you got the more he regretted his choice, especially after Tony gave you a fucking car.

And now you were crying, not saying anything while just looking at him.

He doesn’t know what to expect from you at the moment, nobody does, he thinks you might yell, throw his gift back at him, tell him how much you hate it and him.

But you surprise everyone by throwing your arms around Bucky’s neck, hugging him tightly while crying into his shoulder.

You honestly forgot telling Bucky about that story and certainly didn’t expect him to remember it, especially since you always got the feeling that he didn’t care about your talks as much as you.

You just assumed that come morning he deleted everything you told him to make room for more important things, and you didn’t blame him.

But he didn’t.

What you didn’t tell him about the necklace is that your mom gave it to you because blue roses were her favorite, you had that necklace since you were born but you somehow lost it the day of her funeral.

That day you lost the two most important things in your life and cried yourself to sleep, and that was the last time you allowed yourself to be weak and cry.

Until today.

Bucky hesitantly wraps his arms around you, rubbing your back hoping to get you to calm down. He looks around at the rest of the team, panicking a little and not knowing what to do.

Everyone else is as clueless as he is, never having seen you in such a state before.

Bucky starts apologizing, his heart breaking at the sight of you crying, and he feels horrible that it’s because of him.

You shake your head quickly and pull away a little to look at him, wanting to reassure him you’re not sad or angry but incredibly happy, but words refuse to come. You take a deep breath to calm yourself and finally manage to speak.

“Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me.” It’s quiet, but it’s something, and it’s enough to make Bucky let out a breath of relief at knowing you don’t hate him or his gift.

He brings you back in for another tight hug, almost forgetting about everyone else in the room as you hug him back without hesitation.

You’re honestly not even embarrassed at crying, all you care about at the moment is Bucky, his arms around you while he lets you bury your face in his neck, like you’ve been wanting to do for years now.

“Happy birthday, doll.” He whispers in your ear and, for the first time in 13 years, you really feel like it is.

Barton didn't tell anyone where you were going. After the show provided by Hulk and Iron Man, Ultron had disappeared from the map and Avengers Tower was not really the best place to rest, not when there should be hundreds of reporters waiting.

To make things worse, Dr. Banner's arrest was being considered.

"There are still a few hours left Andra, the best thing would be for you to sleep a little," 

Barton told you when he saw that you were the only one awake besides him.

You sighed.

"Okay," You settled into the chair, trying to find the most comfortable position. "Good night, or whatever."

Barton laughed and that was the last thing you heard before you fell asleep.

It must be said that the dream you had was weird.

It consisted of a strange blue and silver aura and nothing more. You only saw those colours.

What spiked your anger to yourself was that you knew exactly what those colours referred to. More like who.

You decided you wouldn't sleep anymore.

You opened your eyes quickly, as you managed to stand up, you noticed that the helicarrier was slowing down, the night had given way to a beautiful morning, somewhat cold but beautiful. Barton yawned.

"Friends, we're here," he said, forcing everyone to wake up. Your father approached you and put his arm around your shoulders, he smiled lovingly and you two went down behind everyone.

In the distance there was a somewhat neglected house, but you could see the warmth it gave off. 

Barton was the first to enter with an excited smile.

“Love?” He asked once you entered the house, and the rest of the team, including you, looked at Clint with a raised eyebrow.

A woman came out of the kitchen, she had beautiful brown hair and quite a big belly. It looked like she was pregnant, but you didn’t dare to ask. 

Two children also arrived, a girl and a boy.

Clint and the woman kissed in front of you as surprise showered on your face.

"She's an agent, surely," said your father.

“Hi beautiful! Hello champion!" Barton exclaimed as he carried one of his children into his arms.

"And those are the mini agents," you continued your father’s joke, trying to make logical sense of this.

Barton had a wife and children. 

Secret wife and secret children.

Incredible.

"Gentlemen, this is Laura," said Barton, introducing the team to his wife. 

"I know their names," Laura said with a smile. 

Nat smiled and approached Laura's belly.

"How is little Natasha?" she asks happily. 

"This is Nathaniel," Laura said apologetically. Nat bends over to his belly with her eyes half closed.

"Traitor," she says and your father sighs.

Laura shows all of you the shower, in case anyone wants to take a bath, your father and Cap leave the house, probably to fight in defence of their manhood (per usual) or something. 

You watch as Thor and Barton argue about something, and then, without saying goodbye, Thor raises his hammer and disappears.

"Where did he go?" You ask.

"He said he had to investigate something," Barton replied. You sigh and head to the kitchen hoping Laura won't be upset if you grab a cookie.

"You must be hungry," says Clint's wife. She smiles at you and opens the refrigerator. She gets some eggs out of there and some cheese. You smiled at her knowing that she would make you something to eat.

You’re really hungry.

After eating and talking with Laura you helped her prepare dinner, since there were so many people, it took you a while.

When you finally finished, Cap helped set the table, Nat sat next to you, on the other side was Barton with one of his children, the girl was showing Nat a drawing. Banner seemed uncomfortable in front of Nat, god, you could see the tension between those two, and you didn’t know if you liked it or hated it.

The only thing missing was your dad.

You frowned when there was a knock on the door, hoping it would be Tony. Cap slowly got up to go see what was happening.

“Do you want to open it for me? For God's sake, it's burning hot out here!" said a familiar voice. It was Nick Fury.

Cap opened it with a smile, Nick greeted everyone and then gave you a small hug, he was quite nice if you got to know him well.

They began to argue about Ultron, your father, who had arrived with Nick, was standing with him while Cap explained that you were not going to be able to defeat him.

"Before, I used to have eyes everywhere..." Fury spoke calmly, "ears covering the world. They got all the technology they had imagined. But that's over, and now, there is only our ingenuity and will to save the world. Ultron says the Avengers are the only thing standing in the way of his mission. And whether he wants to admit it or not, his mission is to devastate the earth.” He turns to look at Barton's house “All of this, turned into a tomb. I want you to face it. Get over that bastard robot.”

"Steve doesn't like being insulted," You said, looking at Cap. Nick stared at you and you shrugged. After Fury's inspiring talk the team made a plan. You found out that Ultron was in Seoul doing god knows what, so you got ready and flew to Seoul after that night.

Barton was directing the helicarrier, Nat and Cap were getting ready to go after Ultron, who was escaping in a truck. You looked at your father who was still putting on his armour.

"I'll go with them," He looked at you, worry in his face. "I won't stay here and do nothing. Besides, the Maximoffs owe me a good fight.” You said. Tony sighed and nodded.

"Just be very careful," he then directed his words at Cap and Nat. "I don't want anything to happen to her, you hear me? If she needs help, go help her, don't you dare leave her.”

Cap was the first to jump off the helicarrier, followed by Nat and you. Nat was riding Cap's motorcycle as you flew with the jetpack incorporated into your suit.

“I identified three more robots. Two of them are with Ultron, another one is behind the wheel. There's no sign of the twins,” You said, consciously relieved they weren’t around, subconsciously disappointed. 

Nat overturned one of the robots, immediately then, other two robots and Ultron appeared.

You had to admit that the robot was certainly scary.

"Not again!" said Ultron. The robots started to attack. Your dad began his distraction and Ultron chased him. The robot driving the truck started to lift it, trying to protect it. What remained unresolved: what were they carrying in there?

Near us a train was derailing, caused by one of Ultron's robots. Cap and you went over there, trying to stop that from affecting the mission as Nat stayed trying to get the truck to go directly to the Quinjet so that Barton could take whatever was there that Ultron wanted so much.

"Wait!" you yelled at Cap, he stopped dead looking at you. You could feel someone else was with you.

That’s when you saw him. Silver hair, messy, probably from running. And, of course, his sister was there too. "The twins. They’re here!" You exclaimed, launching a beam of light that was able to hit both of them. Wanda raised her hands, surrendering as her brother stood up with difficulty. Cap and you got into a defensive position.

“We don't want to fight!” Wanda’s accent was pretty similar to her brother’s. “We discovered Ultron's plan, he doesn't just want the Avengers' destruction. It will destroy the whole world," Wanda explained.

"What are you talking about?" Cap asked her.

“He created some sort of body, a robot, he wants to transfer his mind to this body and thus be stronger," Pietro looked tired, and very confused.

“So that’s what’s in the truck!” Wanda nodded at your words.

"Good," Cap said, then turned to the communicator. "Clint, it's important that you are able to take what’s in the truck. It's some kind of bionic body that Ultron will want to use as a carrier. Take it to Tony," Wanda's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of your father. "See you at Avengers Tower."

“No!” Pietro exclaimed. “Ultron does not recognise the salvation of the earth without extinguishing it, who do you think he learned it from?”

"He's not like that, damn it!" You were getting pretty tired of this vendetta, approaching him. As you got closer you realised his piercing blue eyes were staring straight at you, which frustrated you even more because if he wasn’t so stupid maybe you could’ve banged him.

“He tries, you know? He almost died from his own inventions too, and he came out of that one, chin up. He closed a hole in space, so the world could stay alive. So that you could stay alive. And now he's trying to fix a mistake, he's trying.” You sighed as you put your hand up your forehead, trying to calm down. “You do your best, okay? And, I mean… I respect your anger, but could you just please, please just try to understand he doesn’t mean no harm?" No one said anything. You turned around and spoke through your communicator.

“A train is derailing, Cap and I will take care of it. Dad, can you distract Ultron?”

"What do you think I've been doing?" he said panting, you chuckled. "But the problem is that I can't find it."

"We have a problem," Clint said nervously. "Ultron wasn't with Tony because he was too busy taking Nat."

"What?!" you exclaimed.

"Andra!" Steve yelled for you, the train was almost upon you. You had to stop it now.

With a jump you entered, followed by the twins. 

"Save the civilians," Steve said to Pietro. He nodded, running to take away the civilians in droves. Steve turned to you and Wanda.

"Can you stop the train?" he asked. You nodded, and the witch followed you.

Meanwhile, robots fought against Steve. Pietro took out the civilians. You looked at Wanda and gave her a soft smile, trying to redeem yourself from the semi-breakdown. Fortunately, she smiled back.

"On three," She nodded. “One, Two, Three!”

You raised your hands and planted yourself firmly on the ground, you felt how the train was resisting both your beams and wanda’s powers. It was going too fast. You looked over at Wanda: full face of concentration, her eyes turning red. Suddenly, the train started to stop. That’s when you realised how glad you were that Wanda was on your team now. There was no longer a single civilian left and the street was destroyed. You got off the train, and, after being picked up by Clint, quickly went to the tower.

After an exhaustive interrogation that the twins had to endure, you figured that they were telling the truth. They were no longer allied with Ultron. But you still weren’t sure if you liked them. Well, the girl seemed ok. And yeah, you did like Pietro as far as human attraction goes, but you didn’t like him in the sense that you like a nice person.

After a good bath, you put on your pyjamas and went out to the terrace. The sun was just setting, giving a view to the sky shaded a vibrant orange and pink. You heard footsteps but didn't really care. You heard how they opened the sliding door but didn't really care either.

However, you couldn't ignore his voice so easily and it made you angry to know it.

"It was very nice what you said about your father today," he told you.You felt him come closer, sitting next to you. Your thighs almost touched, and you could feel the distance between them. But you still didn't dare look at him. 

“I want to apologise, but I’ll be honest, I don’t really know how. It's not like I’m used to it," he said, smiling apologetically. You looked at him, lips pursed.

“I guess a "sorry" would be fine. Actually if you let me punch you a little it would be fine too.” You said smiling a little. 

“Sorry.” He looked at the space between your thighs and his, probably also mortified by it. “On the other hand, we are kinda on the same team now so if we attack each other…”

"I promise not to attack you," You said, laughing as you looked at him. You could see your reflection in his eyes. You hardly looked away from them, and he hardly looked away from yours to be fair. “And I know you won't attack me. But things are not as easy as we would like.”

"I know a war is coming," He sighed. “And I can't help but think that if we hadn't allied with Ultron none of this would be as bad as it is now.”

"You didn't know," You say. "I mean, you didn’t know Ultron's true plan,"

"Still, I tried to think that everything was fine, that we would destroy you guys and everything would be great," he said, looking at the sun again. The light coming from it shined in his silver hair. “But deep down I knew something wasn't right. Wanda knew it too, what we were doing was not right.”

"Is that why you left? Why you abandoned Ultron?" 

“When my sister read the robot’s mind, she discovered what Ultron really wanted to do, it was the straw that broke the camel's back. Also it was the perfect opportunity to make amends. And I had to make amends with you.”

You frowned.

“If you’re talking about the one time you knocked me down, you are forgiven, I mean I still laugh when I remember the many times I trapped you in the bubble," You said, smiling amused. He looked at you with a smile on his face. It was a very pretty smile.

"I forgive you too, Stark," he said, turning his smile into a smirk. “By the way, how do you do it?”

"Oh it’s the suit," you said, acting as if it wasn’t anything important, secretly bragging. If he got to have cool powers, you got to have bragging rights over your creations.

"A suit? Did you build it?," he was surprised when you nodded.

“My father helped me. Mainly with the hands.” You opened your palms as he looked at them. Almost longingly, as if he wanted to hold them. “It’s pretty hard to make a model out of your own hands”. 

“I mean powers are infinitely cooler than a suit, but that’s nice too.” 

“Oh yeah? Says the man who can’t trap people in bubbles.”

“You got me there.” he turned his eyes back to you.

“I used to do it all the time. I trapped the whole team at least 6 times each. I had to stop because they always complained that it hurt.”

“That’s interesting.”

"What's interesting?" you asked.

“You say it burns, but when you trapped me inside one of your bubbles  it didn't really hurt. 

“I mean, it hurts at the beginning, when they adapt to the bubble-conditions.” You explained, he shaked his head no. “Really?” you asked, confused. “I eventually had to practise on dummies.”

"Maybe you didn't want to hurt me, not really," he said, approaching you. You smiled.

“Or maybe you’re just a dummy.” He laughed. “No but seriously, when I first saw you I did want to hurt you.” You were honest. 

“I don't think so, because I didn't want to hurt you either. And now I know that it goes both ways huh?," he said, standing up. "Goodbye, printsessa. Oh and it wasn't just one time that I knocked you down, it was two.”

In my personal opinion, "Hawkeye" is the most underrated Marvel show. Since "Endgame"...actually scratch that! Since COULSON DIED, that whenever someone important dies we never get the closure we need and want: not a funeral, memorial, not even any of the Avengers and Co. grieving... Then "Hawkeye" came along and they gave us everything we've been asking for: we've got Clint, Natasha's best friend, grieving, mourning her as we've never seen any of the characters do about any.one! Throughout the show Clint is constantly shown how shitty he feels for, not only losing his best friend but also because he feels like it was all his fault and he should've been the one to sacrifice himself. He sees himself and feels like a complete failure DESPITE having saving the world countless AND let's not forget he spared Natasha's life when SHIELD sent him out to kill her but instead he chose to give her an opportunity and decided to save her and help her by getting her out of her old life and asking her to join SHIELD. That guy is a freaking hero. ADDITIONALLY TO THAT: we have never witnessed so many of Clint's fighting scenes! "Clint is the greatest archer" yes we know, however, we barely see any of his skills throughout ALL the MCU movies binded together! This show literally provided us with the most badass, amazing, archery scenes in all MCU. 3rd) You not only have Yelena Belova's appearance but we also have the Kingpin himself, Wilson Fisk. 4rd) Yelena grieving Nat like we never see her doing AND TO TOP THAT, she ends up mourning and bonding about her sister alongside Clint. Last but not least: Kate's and Kingpin's fighting scene is so awesome! *I still don't get why the guy doesn't die or get hurt tho...* ; OH WAIT, AND 2 MORE! 1 ➸ we get to see how Clint's relationship with Laura and his, now grown up children, is (including Nate AKA Nathaniel Pietro Barton) 2 ➸ AND WE FUCKING FIND OUT THAT LAURA WAS A SPY THAT WORKED FOR SHIELD....WHAAAAT!? That's a plot twist I did NOT see coming 🤯 *Technically, Tony was right after all:

Why did we not get any content of Clint actually dealing with survivors guilt after Pietro's death and coming to the decision to name his son Nathaniel Pietro Barton

Why does Marvel consistently rob all audiences of actually seeing the character development that came from Pietro's death?

Why do they insist on making it seem like Pietro died for nothing? But he was an unimportant throwaway character that meant nothing to the Marvel universe, right?

It had been a peaceful day at your house. Your wife, Natasha, was out with Steve and Wanda training new recruits. You had decided to stay home, opting to read the new book you had purchased instead when your phone rang, “Hello?”

“Hey,” You heard your brother, Clint, say. “So, I gotta tell you something,” 

“What’s up?”

But before he could begin, you could hear a faint “DADDDDYYYYYYYY!” coming from the other room.

“What was that?” You asked, putting your book down, confused.

“Nothing just Nate. He’s on the toilet.” He said, before you heard Clint scream back to your 3 year old nephew. “Hold on! I’ll wipe your butt in a second! I’m telling Auntie Y/N/N a story!” He screamed, “Anyway,” the brunet said, casually.

“NO TIME FOR STORIESSSSSSSSSSS!” You couldn’t help but chuckle when you heard Nathaniel’s response. He had practically roared when he screamed.

“You’re gonna have to wait!” Clint replied.

“You’re gonna have to wait!” Nate sassed back. You had burst out laughing by now, tears were falling from your eyes as you waited for your brother’s answer.

“So I was just—” Clint started up again, ignoring his son's cries.

“DAD!” Lila screamed. You heard a small pitter patter of feet before you heard Clint swear.

“What’s wrong?” You asked.

“Nate’s running around butt naked!” Your 11 year old niece screamed dodging her younger brother.

“Get him to stop running! He’s getting his poop everywhere!” Cooper, your 13 year old nephew, screamed in disgust. 

“Come back here, you little rascal.” Clint said as he attempted to catch Nate. Nathaniel swerved and ran towards the couch. “Nathaniel Pietro Barton! Don’t you dare take one more step towards our brand new white couch!” The archer warned. The small footsteps stopped before they picked back up again but this time they seemed to be running towards the phone. You could hear the faint rustling as the phone moved and Clint screaming “Give me back my phone!” and a door slamming shut.

“Hi Auntie Y/N/N!” Nate exclaimed cheerfully.

“Hi buddy! Are you giving your dad a hard time?” You asked, just as equally cheerful.

“Noooooo….” He said, innocently and you can practically see the puppy dog eyes he was giving you through the phone.

“Can you give the phone back to your dad? If you do, I'll give you a second scoop of ice cream next time I see you,” You bribed. It seemed to have worked because the next thing you knew Clint was back on the phone.

“Don’t ever have kids,” Clint warned, semi-joking.

“Sure,” You chuckled, “What’d you wanna tell me before?”

“.... I FORGOT!!! DAMN IT, NATE!”

The Avengers stayed silent after Detective Jessica Jones and Agent Johan Collins left the floor. The deafening silence wasn’t because they had nothing to note about the hours they spent with the kid assassin; but, rather, it was because they had a lot to note. Everyone simply just couldn’t settle which one to say first.

"I like her," Pietro Maximoff was the first one to break the silence. "Kid, I mean."

"She does seem like a good kid," Sam Wilson indirectly agreed. "Even with the whole ‘programmed to kill’ thing."

"It took a lot of strength resisting her trigger like that," Bruce added. "She was in a lot of pain, almost like it was slowly killing her."

They all saw how the twelve-year-old looked when she was fighting her programming. She was trying her hardest to hide it, but they all still saw right through her. Mostly because the intensity of the pain must’ve been too much to hide effectively, even for a well-seasoned agent. Although she did seem to feel better after napping and reuniting with her fellow assassin, the pain notably came back with a stronger force once she laid her eyes upon her targets once more.

Regardless of how tormenting it was, Johan still fought anyway.

"She’s too young to have gone through all of what she did," Clint lamented.

Out of all of them, Clint was one of the two people with an understanding different than the rest. Sure, Natasha, Bucky, and the Maximoff twins understood in depth what it was like to be experimented on. And the others could only begin to imagine how difficult her life was, as her struggles greatly differed to theirs.

But Clint and Scott Lang were the only ones who understood how young she was. "Kid’s only three, four years older than Cassie. Jesus."

"She’s around the same age as Cooper and Lila," Clint nodded, his expression stayed crestfallen.

The Avengers fell silent again after that remark.

They all had the opportunity to meet the three children mentioned, along with the youngest Barton kid Nathaniel. Cooper was the oldest of them and yet, he was still far too young. Not that there was an appropriate age to be traumatized to the core, but the point still stands: Johan Collins was far too young to be an assassin with post-traumatic stress disorder.

"Tony, what are you doing?" This time, it was James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes who interrupted the silence. Had he not done that, then his best friend in question’s actions probably would’ve escaped everyone else’s notice for another five more minutes. However, since he did, they all turned just in time to witness him open the S.H.I.E.L.D. database in a holographic screen.

"Researching," Tony Stark replied simply, before typing: Johan Collins.

"Invading privacy, you mean."

"Only if I can actually find info on Kid." His hands began moving faster as he maneuvered the holograms in front of him. Everyone unconsciously held their breath as they anticipated a wall full of her information to pop up any second. Except . . . "Rogers, did you just jinx it—"

"What—"

"—I’m assuming you did." He cut Steve off before the latter could even defend himself. "Are there any other ways to spell her name?"

"Try ‘Anastasia Stark,’" Natasha suggested. Tony followed through. Unfortunately, the screen still came up blank. "‘Anastasia Collins’? ‘Johan Stark’?"

"Boss, you have a new message from Director Fury," FRIDAY announced, effectively halting Tony’s so-called research.

Everyone suddenly looked at him expectantly, silently urging him to read the message out loud with their eyes. "What did he say?"

"‘You aren’t authorized to see Collins’ data. Stop snooping.’"

Much to Director Fury’s chagrin, Tony merely took his message as a challenge. Unfortunately for the challenger, though, he still failed to uncover anything regardless of whatever offense he threw at the S.H.I.E.L.D. database.

By the time he ran out of all the system offense he knew on top of his head, the blank screen was mocking him.

"What is S.H.I.E.L.D. hiding?" He blurted in frustration, mostly to himself. "Barnes has a profile, so why doesn’t she?"

"What are you trying to find, anyway?" Bucky spoke up. "Maybe I can answer."

"Jones was obviously avoiding to mention something. I want to know why."

"I can give you more than that." Wanda, who had been awfully quiet since Agent Collins and Detective Jones came to the common floor, finally contributed to the conversation. "I can show them to you."

"You went inside her head?" Pietro looked at her in slight disbelief. "What did you see?"

Contrast to her twin’s reaction that had a hint of curiosity in it, Steve’s response wasn’t relatively as excited. "Wanda, we’ve talked about this."

"I didn’t force my way in. She was thinking very loudly." That would’ve been a weak attempt at defense if it really was one, except she wasn’t actually defending herself. "Kid kept on thinking about one memory in particular." She was merely stating facts as they were. "It answers the ‘why’ Stark wants to know and more."

Wanda let her words sink in. "Fine. Let’s see it."

"Only if we could help her see her father." Wanda bargained out of the blue — albeit as if that was her plan all along.

No one could read what she was thinking. Not even her twin, who knew her more than anyone else in the room, could decipher her expression.

"I can’t promise you that," Tony’s reply was almost immediate. "We can’t afford to expose a civilian to an unpredictable, amnesiac assassin suffering from PTSD."
