Wisptober Day 7 : Piper
聽"One morning, the fishermen heard the far away sound of a flute in the distance. 聽It seemed like all of the whales and fish were trying to reach the sound."
Poor Narwhals didn鈥檛 turned out exactly how I wanted to so they are a bit darker due to overcorrecting but it was still fun!:D

Finally got the colors I wanted to finish this.
I saw this article/photo from last year of a narwhal that was adopted into a pod of belugas in Canada and wanted to do a piece for it.

Narwhal! That horn is actually a tusk - an inside-out tooth - and not all narwhals grow one! They鈥檙e theorized to be used to break ice, stun prey, and attract mates, it the purpose of this unique tooth is not well-understood.
[ID: an illustration of a narwhal facing to the left, on a starry purple background. End.]

How the fuck do narwhals exist, but unicorns don't?
We have horses, and we have other creatures with four legs and horns, but nature was like "Lol, nah I'mma put a horn on a small whale".

I have been so busy with cleaning so I can create an art studio I haven't been able to actually create art!
Here are some cutie little narwhals
I have spent every day for the past week shampooing the carpet because it's so soaked with dirt and fertilizer; someone decided to grow plants in there without ripping the carpet up, so it's a huge mess, and I don't have the finances to replace it, sadly.
It is getting so close, though! And in the effort to clean that space, I am realizing I also need a mobility aid. That will be interesting to navigate.
Can't wait to move past the cleaning phase and start moving things in and learn the new space to see how it should be set up.
