In 2018, Square Enix Montreal had contacted me to think about the character design of a new video game named "Arena Battle Champions" on mobil phone (it's a MOBA).

After that, I had to imagine the history of some of them, as well as the world in which they live.

I was a "narrative lore designer", free to propose my ideas and graphic designs, without any constraint.

Here is a good part of my work, and that was very pleasant to do.

Thanks to all the studio team and especially to my friend Quentin Bailleux for his trust and kindness.

Unfortunately, the studio closed its doors. The game will never be released!

As you journeyed through the afterlife, you found yourself in the presence of the Fox, its eyes holding ancient wisdom and playful curiosity. It introduced itself as the guardian of memories, and to earn your place in the great unknown, you must search your recollections for the ten best moments of your life to be preserved as a template.

At first, the LibraFox's riddles and tests seemed daunting, each memory hidden within a labyrinth of dreams and illusions. But as you persisted, the Fox's demeanor softened, revealing a loving and caring side, guiding you through the eerie yet fascinating process of memory excavation.

Together, you delved into your past, reliving cherished moments and confronting the forgotten. Each memory held a lesson, a glimpse into the essence of who you were, and the Fox encouraged you to choose wisely. For in the Library of Eternity, the memories chosen would shape your afterlife, becoming a reflection of your soul's journey.

As you progressed, the reasons behind the Fox's summoning from Kyoto remained shrouded in mystery. Yet, a sense of connection grew between you and this extraordinary being, leaving you with a comforting feeling that it was bound to a greater purpose.

Throughout the journey, the Library of Eternity unveiled its wonders, surreal landscapes formed by books, memories, and whispers of lost souls. The game-like narrative merged fun and eerie elements, making the experience both thrilling and thought-provoking.

In the end, you selected your ten best moments, the LibraFox's playful grin evident as it helped finalize your choices. A bond had formed between you, and as you bid farewell to the library and the Fox, a sense of gratitude and enlightenment enveloped you.

The interactive tale left you with lingering questions about the LibraFox's origins, but the answers seemed insignificant compared to the profound insights gained throughout the journey. You left the realm of memories, prepared to embark on your new afterlife, knowing that the ten preserved moments would forever define the essence of your soul in the great unknown.

So, what’s new with me...

Hey looks like I owe everybody here a little update since I left Tumblr and now I’m back.

COMICS - Nothing really new to report on the comicking front. Comic #2 is still being written and rewritten and rewritten, and it may be very different than what I first proposed. I sometimes think about a little sequel to Cans of Beans, but nothing concrete is planned. Really, I spent the last few years just regaining my passion for drawing and writing again--who knew that spending 7 years on a comic makes you wonder, “wow, what do I do next?”

GAME DEV - As you know, I used to work at Telltale Games. And while I was still here on Tumblr, Telltale Games imploded back in 2018. Since then, I’ve jumped around from studio to studio and made the slow but deliberate transition from Cinematic Artist to Narrative Designer. I realized over the years that I do love making stories in mediums beyond comicking and storyboarding, I love straight up building stories for games!

The latest publicly-unveiled project that I was on is Moonbreaker, a turn-based strategy game featuring the fabulous lore of Brandon Sanderson (who has the most delightful parrot). It was a lovely project to work on and I miss the Moonbreaker team dearly.

Now, I’m a Narrative Designer at Bad Robot Games (the games division of Bad Robot) building something incredible. I really can’t wait to share what I’m up to with you guys, but that may not be anytime soon!

Skyrim's late-game power-fantasy-creep is so funny even by fantasy standards. Like, it's hilarious how it feels like it completely steamrolls everything else. By the end of the game you're:

member of a bard's college

Like imagine a person existing that had all these titles and also the actual lived experience to back it up.

I recently did a project for local band Weird Year (for their latest album Nick Hates The Beach). It ended up something like a tour journal following a band on a strange roadtrip along the California coast, dodging the surreal and the fantastic all the way to a gig.

This was such a fun project for me. I love doing art for music and making up a little narrative of an indie band roadtrip was just... so damn fun.
