From committer of a crime
A woman who has had a powerful presence in my life, who inspired me to persevere, overcome obstacles, and not back down? That person is my Mum. She is the most kind-hearted and fair human in the whole world. Our relationship has not always been so easy because I think paradoxically we have so much, even too much, in common. She had a tough childhood and marriage. My father is not a bad person but addictions have significantly impacted his personality and attitude to life. My childhood was neither an easy one, but my Mum did everything she could for me. Each time I failed, I knew I would receive constructive criticism from her. But I also knew that she would protect me from this world. I frequently heard from her ‘I will love you despite everything’. And she did. She taught me how not to be afraid but to be determined. I suppose all my achievements and even that I am still alive are thanks to her. She taught me how to combine kindness and strength (I did not believe that these two traits could be combined in one person). She was a very beautiful woman who could shine despite the bleak situation in her life, especially in our house. Her blond hair and appearance reminded me of Marylin Monroe…. her personality too, so it isn’t a surprise that Marylin Monroe still is my idol.
Let’s come back to my life. I was 19, I suppose when my Dad woke me up with the phrase ‘Your Mum is dying’. She had lost consciousness. Since that time I have hated mornings. Sometimes I would rather never wake up again.
My Mum had breast cancer which she didn’t want to treat. She refused to go to the hospital. She wanted to die. I couldn’t bear that. I started my investigation of hospitals that can perform urgent operations. There were none available because of COVID-19 measures. My Dad was too helpless to take responsibility so I realized that if not me then who? That evening we called the ambulance. I suppose if we hadn’t she would have not suffered so much.
The long days and nights began. I abandoned my studies (fortunately teachers understood and gave me the opportunity to pass exams later), and spent all the time next to my Mum’s hospital bed. I had never been responsible for somebody ill. It was new for me. I had time to think and consider my life. My attitude to Mum. I was and still am a rude person who can say tough things to important people. I blame myself for not being humble and understanding. I am a monster. My Mum always wanted to help me with my life and support but she did not receive the same attitude from me. Knowing she had been ill (despite the fact she hadn’t wanted to be cured) I had let her make all household chores by herself, I had not offered my help. Knowing that she had been suffering enormous pain, I had not taken responsibility for any physical work which should have been done. When she had been suffering mentally when she had yelled at me…I had not recognized these signs as a call for help but had become in a defensive position making her suffer more.
One day I came back home to rest for a couple of hours. When I returned back to the hospital I saw my Mum deadly pale. I immediately forced the nurse to do a blood analysis. Mum was taken to the resuscitation ward. I was not allowed here so I returned home. That was one time I saw my Dad crying and believed that he could change (spoiler: he cannot). It was May. Everything was green. It was raining. I was standing under that rain. I was not crying but praying. The sun appeared. I thought it was a good sign.
Eventually, in a couple of weeks, my Mum was taken to a big city for an operation. She was so tiny after that. Then I realized how much she suffered. I saw her tiny body in her tiny clothes. She was so weak. I believe it was that time when I saw her inner nature…. So vulnerable and fragile. It was different from what everybody used to see. She was always a strong woman who knew what she wanted, and how to achieve her aim. Now she needed protection. And I couldn't give her that. My Dad was drinking again so I couldn't rely on his help.
Then she started recovering. Long courses of chemotherapy began. She lost all of her fabulous hair. I do not know whether she wanted to survive. My Mom always had been the kind of person who wants to help everyone, to make other people’s lives easier. With this illness, she started realizing that no one cares about her. That she always had not been ‘enough’. Not enough supportive, not enough kind, not enough beautiful. She frequently said that she feels guilty about something she even did not know.
I committed a crime. My Dad had gone to Poland to earn money for Mum’s treatment and I… I went to another city to continue my studies. I left her alone. How could I? I even could shout at her through the phone if she told me things I didn’t want to hear. Oh my goddess what kind of a bitch I was.
Some months passed and I received an offer to go to Lithuania as an exchange student. My Mum was enormously happy about that. I was doubting whether I should go. She persuaded me that everything will be okay. That was the first time I went somewhere abroad. I was so excited about the plane because I hadn’t ever traveled by plane. Finally, I reached the dormitory where I was supposed to live. It was night. Thanks to my incompetent teacher who was responsible for these studies I hadn’t been aware of the requirement to fill in the form to be able to live in the dormitory. My Mum was constantly writing to me because she was worrying of course. I was rude. Taking into consideration that I did not fill in the form, I was forced to spend the night in the dormitory hall. There were sofas where I tried to sleep, and it was very cold.
In the morning when a manager of the dormitory came and let me in the room, I was crying. I saw a fabulous view from the windows and the dawn. I recorded a video for my Mum and sent it to her. She started calling me but I was not able to connect to the dormitory Wi-Fi and didn’t have a Lithuanian sim card so the connection was horrible. I was crying and in despair. I let my emotions fall on my Mum. She was soothing me to the fullest extent. She was so supportive and I was a monster.
After a couple of hours of sleep, I tried to call her again. The connection was worse. I was so irritated. And again she received my negative emotions. I was supposed to attend the excursion so I started preparing for it. I sent a message to her saying sorry for my behavior. She answered that everything will be okay and I shouldn’t blame myself for that. ‘It is just an aggressive chemotherapy’ was the last answer I received. I had a wonderful time on the excursion and after coming back to the dormitory I received a call from my aunt that Mum is in hospital. Her condition became worse and Mum was taken to the resuscitation ward. I wrote her another message with apologies. This message was never read. I was praying again.
With no more news, I started preparing to go to bed. Then I received another call from my brother. He said that my Mum passed away three hours ago. The spectrum of my emotions is difficult to describe. During all the years she was ill I prayed before sleep for her health. Everything was in vain. I was furious. Why didn’t she call? Why didn’t she say goodbye to me? Why was I so rude to her? Why was I such a monster? I almost didn’t sleep that night. I didn’t even attend the farewell ceremony because I would be disqualified from the program. Everybody persuaded me that she wanted me to stay there. Probably such a way of things is better for me. Thanks to her I knew I must live. I must be as strong as she was. This was my first time abroad, and I lost the most vital person in my life.
P.S. I don’t know what others write here. I will just write some thoughts with the hope that you, the person who is reading this, will hear. Keep your emotions. Keep your rude words. Remember that each conversation can be the last one. Do not repeat my mistakes. Say words of love to people who you love. Memento mori.

You had a CAREER CHANGE because of the bad batch? I am intrigued to know more (if you are comfortable sharing)!!
Haha, yup! And thank you for the question! I do indeed feel comfortable sharing!
Buckle, up, though, ‘cause I’m going to give you the WHOLE story!
So currently I work in a library and I honestly love it very much and would love to keep working there as long as I can. Right now it’s only part time and my initial plans were to try for full time jobs (though hiring in this library system is a nightmare).
But once I watched TBB (I started on February 22, 2022 and finished it in two days, so the start of S3 is almost exactly my anniversary which is awesome!) I instantly fell in love it and one thing I just could not get out of my head was the amazingness that is Dee Bradley Baker, who IS the Bad Batch! His ability to voice all these different characters (not to mention aaaaaaaaaaaall the other characters and creatures he’s voiced over the years) was absolutely mind boggling!
Following this, I was NOT able to get the idea of voice acting out of my head and so many things around me kept pointing to it (#VoiceActing trending on twitter, reddit suggesting the VA subreddit, a freaking display at my library having a book on voice acting!!!), and the decision to become a voice actor just felt right. It felt like it was what I was supposed to do. And I was SO excited....and daunted!!!
Now, I’ve always loved doing accents, making funny voices, reading out loud (especially reading out loud - I’d had the fun little daydream of being an audiobook reader years and years ago but it wasn’t serious....then! Later that summer I started listening to Marc Thompson reading the canon ‘Thrawn’ books and ooooh baby yeah!!!), and acting was something fun to think about, but I knew I didn’t want to get into that field, at least not the physical part of it because it’s so very, very demanding. But voice acting....voice acting can be done with the right equipment and a properly set up closet, right at your own home!
So because I’m me and I’m very indecisive and take FOREVER to actually start a project (especially a huge, daunting one like this), it wasn’t until last summer when I got a coach and have been doing a lesson every week since then. I’m now (finally) also getting started on actually getting the equipment and materials I will need to set up my recording studio in my closet (and by “getting started” I mean I’m pretty sure what I want but have yet to buy it, haha).
I fully intend to make voice acting (and audiobook reading) my career (while also hoping to keep my part time job at the library if at all possible) and it’s all because of ‘The Bad Batch’.
So I can honestly say that it changed my life and I will forever be thankful for it and all the amazing people that work on it!

Incorrect “The Owl House” Quotes
Amity (Sitting next to Luz on a bench): So, is there anything you’d like to do today?
Luz (Puts finger to chin as she thinks): Well, I was going to work on this new spell.
Amity (Face falls a little upon hearing this): Oh. What spell was that?
Luz (Smiles slyly): I put a spell on you. And now you’re mine. You can’t stop the things I do. I ain’t lying.
Amity (Blushes): I think you got that one mastered.
__________________________________________________________
Luz (Watching King as he tries to catch a bug and narrating in quiet voice): Behold the mighty King of Demons, once again on the hunt. Notice how he lays low to avoid detection. He stalks his prey, never letting it out of sight. He draws closer and closer until...
(King jumps to land on top of bug and misses): WHEH!
Luz (Continues narrating): With this attempt ending in failure, King will now proceed with a 10 minute pouting session, unless he sees another bug or is given tummy pats. I’m Luz Noceda, signing off to do just that.

Paul in the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, June 2015, where he narrated footage about the sinking of the Lusitania.
When the presenter mentioned The Monocled Mutineer, because of which he became a WWI aficionado, he said, "I'll do bits of it later in the corridor." 😂😂
(His sense of humour is one of the reasons for me to love him even more)🥰
(I also love the combination of jeans with a suit jacket.)🥰

I think about a story were a sidecharacter believes strongly that there is a storyteller and the group is only part of a big story. Everybody else thinks he's/she's/they're insane and should seek help until the narrator addresses the group directly or shows himself in a life or death situation and everyone is 'what the hell??'

i wonder if nate ever had those internal detective monologues before. like he just finds himself narrating
Nate: "Standing in the distance was Roxanne Flowers, a pure gem. The only girl that could see me as just a friend rather than a shrine to worship. Just as well she'd be snarky and-"
Roxanne: "Nate. What are you doing."
Nate, caught off guard: "Oh- uh, narrating?"
Roxanne, impressed and teasingly: "Nice."

The Present Indefinite Tense (the Present Simple)
Tumblr media
              The  Present Indefinite tense:
(also known as the simple present tense)   The Affirmative Form of the Present Simple:   Affirmative Form:   The affirmative form of the Present Simple tense is used to talk about actions or situations that are true or habitual in the present.   To form the affirmative, we use the base form of the verb, which is the infinitive without the word to, except for third person singular (he, she, it), where we add an s to the verb.     Subject + Base Form of Verb + S/es (for third person singular)     Some adverbs that are commonly used with the Present Simple (Simple Present) tense: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, regularly, frequently, occasionally, seldom.   These adverbs are used to describe how often an action or event takes place in the present.   Examples: I usually wake up early in the morning.   She sometimes plays tennis on weekends.   They rarely eat fast food.   He never forgets his keys.   Examples: I walk to work every day (Present Simple tense of walk in first person singular).   She plays the guitar very well (Present Simple  tense of play in third person singular).   We study English at school (Present Simple tense of "study" in first person plural).      The Negative Form of the Present Simple:     Negative Form:   The negative form of the Present Simple tense is used to talk about actions or situations that are not true or habitual in the present.   To form the negative, we use the auxiliary verb do (conjugated to match the subject) + not + base form of the verb.   Subject + Do/Does + Not + Base Form of Verb     Examples: I do not eat meat (Present Simple tense of eat in first person singular, negative form).   He does not like to swim (Present Simple tense of like in third person singular, negative form).   We do not watch television in the morning (Present Simple tense of watch in first person plural, negative form).       The Question Form of the Present Simple Tense:      Question Form:   The question form of the Present Simple tense is used to ask about actions or situations in the present.   To form the question, we invert the subject and the auxiliary verb do (conjugated to match the subject), and add the base form of the verb at the end.     Do/Does + Subject + Base Form of Verb     Examples: Do you like to read books? Present Simple tense of like in second person singular, question form).   Does she play tennis on the weekends? (Present Simple tense of play in third person singular, question form).   Do they study history at school? (Present Simple tense of study in third person plural, question form).   Note: The auxiliary verb do is used in the negative and question forms of the Present Simple tense for all persons except third person singular.       In the third person singular, the auxiliary verb does is used instead of do. I study do not (don't) study Do I study? You study do not (don't) study Do you study? He/She/It studies does not (doesn't) study Does he/she/it study? We study do not (don't) study Do we study? They study do not (don't) study Do they study?     Note that for the third person singular (he, she, it), the verb form adds -s in the affirmative form.     Examples:   Affirmative: She studies Spanish on Saturdays.   Negative: They do not (don't) watch TV in the morning.   Question: Do you like coffee?
The Present Simple in various situations:
The Present Simple tense is used to talk about various situations, including:   Habits and routines: We use the Present Simple tense to talk about actions or situations that are habitual or routine in the present.   For example: I walk to work every day.   Everyday actions: We use the Present Simple tense to talk about actions that happen regularly or repeatedly in the present.   For example: She plays tennis on weekends.   General statements: We use the Present Simple tense to make general statements or truths about situations or events.   For example: Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.   Future events: We use the Present Simple tense to talk about future events that are scheduled or planned.   For example: The concert starts at 8 pm tonight.     It's important to note that the Present Simple tense is not typically used to talk about future events that are not scheduled or planned, in which case the Present Continuous or Future tense would be more appropriate.
The Present Simple Tense for future actions:
Additionally, the Present Simple tense is not typically used for actions that are happening right now (for which we use the Present Continuous tense).   There are some verbs in English that do not use the -ing ending to form the Present Continuous tense.   These verbs typically describe states or non-continuous actions.   Some examples of such verbs include:     Mental and emotional states: believe, hate, love, like, prefer, think, want, wish, etc.   Examples: I hate spiders. She wishes she could speak Spanish fluently.     Senses: hear, see, taste, smell, feel, etc.   Examples: I hear a strange noise outside. She smells the flowers in the garden.     Communication: say, tell, ask, etc.   Examples: He tells me a funny story. She asks a question in class.     Verbs indicating existence: exist, be, seem, appear, etc.   Examples: The solution to the problem exists. He seems very happy today.   When using these verbs to describe ongoing actions, we typically use the Present Simple tense.   For example: I believe in hard work. She loves reading books.     However, if we want to emphasize the ongoing nature of these actions, we can use adverbs such as constantly, continuously, or always.   For example: He's always thinking about the future.
The Present Simple Tense in the Adverbial Clauses:
Adverbial clauses can be introduced by subordinating conjunctions, such as if, unless, provided that, until, till, as soon as, as long as, etc.   In the case of Present Simple tense, it is true that it can be used in adverbial clauses that describe future actions, when used with certain conjunctions.   For example:   If you come early, we can have breakfast together.   Unless he apologizes, I won't forgive him.   Provided that you finish your work on time, you can leave early.   I will wait until/till you finish your meal.   As soon as she arrives, we will start the meeting.   You can stay as long as you like.     In all these examples, the Present Simple tense is used to describe future actions that are conditional on something else happening (as in the first three examples), or actions that will take place immediately after another action (as in the last two examples).   The Present Simple tense is commonly used in adverbial clauses with these conjunctions to describe future actions, as it is the most appropriate tense for indicating habitual or repeated actions, general truths, or permanent states.
The Present Simple with Motion Verbs:
The Present Simple tense can be used with motion verbs such as : leave, start, sail, return, arrive, go, and come to describe future actions.   For example: I leave for work at 8:00 a.m. every day.   The ship sails for Hawaii tomorrow.   They return from vacation next week.   The train arrives at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.   We go to the concert next Saturday.   He comes to visit us every summer.     In all these examples, the Present Simple tense is used to describe future actions that are habitual, repeated, or part of a schedule or plan.   The Present Simple tense is commonly used in such cases because it is the most appropriate tense for indicating habitual or repeated actions, general truths, or permanent states.     It is important to note that while the Present Simple tense can be used to describe future actions with these motion verbs, it is also possible to use other tenses, such as the Present Continuous or the Future tense, depending on the context and the speaker's intended meaning.       The different situations in which the Present Simple tense is commonly used: Situation/Use Examples Habitual or repeated actions I play tennis every Saturday. She reads a book before bed. They always arrive late. General truths and facts The Earth revolves around the sun. Water boils at 100°C. The sky is blue. Permanent states I live in New York. He speaks five languages. She has brown eyes. Scheduled events The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. The meeting begins in half an hour. The train leaves at 9:00 a.m. Narrating stories, plays, or movies The hero defeats the villain. She says goodbye and leaves. He walks down the street. Commenting on sports events or performances He scores a goal. They win the match. She sings beautifully. Giving instructions or directions First, you mix the flour and sugar. Then, you add the eggs. You turn left at the traffic light. Stating opinions or beliefs I think that's a good idea. He believes in equal rights. They prefer the beach to the mountains.   It's worth noting that this table is not exhaustive and there may be other situations in which the Present Simple tense is used.     Additionally, the Present Simple tense can be used in negative and interrogative forms as well, depending on the context and the intended meaning.       Click here The Present Indefinite Tense (the Present Simple) Click here The Indicative Mood – the Active Voice Click here Four Main Types of Verbs Click here Regular and Irregular Verbs Click here Finite and non- finite forms of the Verbs Click here What is the Person category?
